Reader’s Links for January 21, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The Demorats kissed radical ass, lied and cheated their way to power. This will be like sitting in your own dirty diaper (although in Biden’s case this isn’t metaphorical). Now they’ve created 75,000,000 thought criminals on one side, and never-satisfied animals on the other. Good luck with this setup if not all your cops and soldiers are true-blue to you. What assholes. What bastards. Never have such undeserving cretins taken so much. I await Karma, not Godot.

    • You will have a very long wait in both cases. Good endings only occur in consumer novels/movies as they are there because reality is so barren of such.
History teaches us otherwise: the WW1 “victory” which created WW2 The WW2 “Victory,” which gave communists the backbone and the technology(captured B29s/Uranium etc.) to know that they could win any war of attrition with the west.
The only good things that happened in history were when people and were led by honest patriots and fought back, NEVER ceasing to fight even when many thought that the war was over as like this war, it will NEVER be over.
When no one wants to fight as they are too comfortable or too rain-washed into disinterest it can never be won.
Time will tell as when they come for the 2nd it will be the big test but by then, the armed forces already led by politically left lapdogs will be ready to calmly kill any US citizens who object. The political culling of the DC troops is just the start of the creation of the US “Blue Army”( akin to the USSR “Red Army”) and the new CHEKA (CIA & FBI) is already being checked for political dissidents.
We have just gone over the waterfall, the worst is yet to come.
Now Trump is out of office we will see assassins coming out of the woodwork, mostly after him and his whole family but including any of the GOP non traitors. Naturally any caught will have “psychiatric illness”.

    • “I await Karma, not Godot”

The fruit of their own lives, that they will then blame on others to steal from.

And not awaiting the Mahdi who never will come to free them from Sharia.

To not look away from these with hearts of envy, addiction and anger to smash the patriarchy from The Far Left, and the Far Far Left.

      • One of the reasons why religion has its hold and its advocates is that most karma rewards for evil (and good), are rarely, if ever, provided pre-mortem, and their promise is that they will be, post mortem. While I can understand this and its value to many, it does seem to place far too much reliance on both the awareness and caring of divine justice.
However next time a cockroach dares to enter my domain I will try to see it as a once leftist traitor to humanity and provide further “divine justice”.

  3. Twin Suicide Bombings Leave 28 Dead, 73 Injured in Baghdad, Iraqi Military Says (sputniknews, Jan 21, 2021)

“The situation in Iraq grew more tense in late 2019, when the United States accused Kataib Hezbollah of launching an attack on a US military base near the Iraqi city of Kirkuk. In retaliation, the US launched a strike against the group’s forces killing about two dozen fighters.

A double suicide attack in the Iraqi capital Baghdad has claimed the lives of at least 28 people while leaving at least 73 injured, Iraqi military said, as quoted by Reuters.

A source told Sputnik that one of the bombers blew themselves up in Tayaran Square, while the other detonated their device in the “Bab al-Sharqi” market in central Baghdad.

The source noted that ambulances had rushed to the scenes of the explosions to transport the dead and the wounded to nearby hospitals.

According to police sources, the death toll could increase as some of the wounded were in critical condition.

The explosions occurred in a commercial centre in central Baghdad and besides human casualties, there’s material damage.

The Iraqi security services have cordoned off the two bombing sites, while also reportedly closing the entrance to the Green Zone, occupied by the federal government as its headquarters in central Baghdad.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.”

  5. Outgoing FCC Chief Warns of China’s ‘Injection of Malware’ Into American Telecom Networks (sputniknews, Jan 21, 2021)

“Ajit Pai’s tenure saw the US Federal Communications Commission clamping down on a spate of Chinese network manufacturers, including Huawei and ZTE. Washington claims the companies pose a national security threat to the US, which is vehemently denied by Beijing.

Outgoing US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Ajit Pai has argued that over the next four years, regulators will face a major national security challenge due to possible Chinese espionage and threats to US telecommunications networks and internet freedom.

In an interview with Reuters on Wednesday, the FCC chief referred to a “wide array” of activity from China which he claimed pertains to surveillance, economic espionage, and potential “injection of malware into networks here in the United States or around the world”.

“There are a number of bad things that can happen when insecure equipment is used to handle sensitive information”, Pai asserted.

He then went further by describing the Chinese Communist Party as an organisation that “has a very determined worldview” and wants “to dominate this space and exert their will – even beyond their own borders”.

“That is a serious threat not just to internet freedom but to national security for us and for many of our allies”, Pai claimed.

The interview followed the FCC in November launching the process of revoking the authorisation of China Telecom, the largest Chinese telecommunications company in the US.

In April, the US Department of Justice said the country’s relevant agencies had unanimously recommended that the FCC revoke China Telecom’s permits to provide international telecommunications services, citing national security risks.

The company called the claims “unfounded”, adding the US move is “based solely on foreign policy concerns in the absence of any evidence whatsoever of specific misconduct”.

The developments came amid then-US President Donald Trump’s trade war against Beijing. The latter targeted numerous Chinese firms such as Huawei Technologies, ZTE, mainland chipmaker SMIC, as well as TikTok owner ByteDance and WeChat owner Tencent, in an attempt to limit China’s rise as the global leader in emerging technologies.”

  6. ‘You Destroy the Whole of Europe’: Sweden Democrat MEP Attacks EU’s ‘Headless’ Immigration Policy (sputniknews, Jan 21, 2021)

“In recent years, the term “humiliation robbery” has been coined and entered Swedish media parlance to specifically denote crimes that also feature elements of moral, physical, or sexual torture. The overall spike in violent crime spurred the authorities to rethink its practice of omitting the ethnicity of the perpetrators for ethical reasons.

Sweden Democrats EU parliamentarian Charlie Weimers has unleashed a ruthless attack against what he called the EU’s “headless” mass immigration policy and demanded that the bloc protect Europe’s own people.

It was during a debate in the European Parliament concerning the humanitarian situation for immigrants on the EU’s external borders that Charlie Weimers lashed out against the consequences of multiculturalism.

Among other things, he informed his fellow EU parliamentarians about the torture rape in the Swedish city of Solna that happened last summer and sent shockwaves across the Nordic country.

“In the middle of the night, two Swedish boys were threatened with a knife. They were tortured naked and raped with a stick by two sadistic immigrants. They were told they were going to die”, Weimers said.

“You gather here to discuss and cry for those who suffer at the border. But where is your empathy for those who fall victim to Europe’s headless mass immigration policy? Native citizens have been raped, beaten, and tortured. Innocent people have been beheaded, bombed, and stabbed in the name of Islam”, Weimers said.

According to Weimers, immigration to Europe has created a new generation of children in Sweden, whom he referred to as “Generation Prey”, because they are robbed, abused, murdered, raped, and tortured by immigrants.

“When you return to your safe neighbourhoods and praise yourself for how you have raised the humanitarian situation at the border, please give some thought to those who may pay the price for your immigration policy. Because these two boys are not alone.

They are part of Sweden’s Generation Prey. In its effort to save everyone, this gathering will not succeed – and at the same time you will destroy Europe”, Weimers said.

“Left-liberals, have you heard of the humiliated boys in Solna? They are part of Generation Prey. When you are happy to go home to your safe housing areas after working for more migration, give the victims a thought for your migration policy. Will they ever forgive you?”, Weimers tweeted subsequently, attaching a clip of his speech.

The two teenage boys Weimers referred to suffered a night-long humiliation. During the roughly nine hours, they were beaten, raped, burned, cut with a knife, and robbed under the threat of death.

In the aftermath of what the media referred to as “the night of torture in Solna”, two men, 18 and 21 years old, were sentenced to five and a half and nine years in prison respectively.

In 2019, Sweden saw 7,741 robberies reported to the police, a ten-year high. In recent years, the term “humiliation robbery” has been coined and entered Swedish media parlance specifically for crimes that also feature elements of moral, physical, or sexual torture.

The spike in violent crime spurred the authorities into abandoning its practice of recent decades to omit the ethnicity of the perpetrators from statistics for ethical reasons. In a major U-turn, however, the Swedish Crime Prevention Council said it will include the ethnicity of both perpetrators and their victims in the next batch of statistics.”

“A fight among migrants in a camp near the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, has left three people slightly injured and resulted in damaged property, police said on Thursday.

Police were called late on Wednesday to intervene in a clash among groups of migrants at the Blazuj camp, they said in a statement.

Two officers and a camp employee were slightly injured during the intervention while several cars, offices, computers and other equipment were damaged, police added.

Bosnian media described the incident as a major clash, publishing photos of overturned police cars. The Klix news portal said police brought in members of special units with dogs.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was arrested.

Thousands of migrants have been stranded in the Balkan country as they try to reach Western Europe. Some 3,000 people are at the Blazuj camp.”

  9. Italian Study Claims Asylum Seekers Could be Used to Reverse Rural Population Decline (breitbart, Jan 21, 2021)

“A University of Milano-Bicocca study has claimed that mass migration of asylum seekers could reverse population decline in some of the country’s rural areas and small towns.

The authors of the study claim that in the short term, the arrival of asylum seekers would have no economic cost to small municipalities if the reception of migrants is widespread and refugee centres hold no more than 25 asylum seekers per facility.

The study argues that such a comprehensive solution would also help repopulate small towns and villages which may be seeing a demographic decline. There are as many as 2,430 different municipalities that currently face potential population shrinkage, newspaper Il Giornale reports.

Professor Mariapia Mendola, one of the authors, said: “It is a well-known story, at the basis of anti-immigration reactions there are cultural factors, well before economic.”

“The impact analysis of the reception system suggests that greater attention needs to be paid to inclusion and awareness-raising policies in the territory, where the involvement of local authorities is vital if immigrants are to be able to contribute with their skills and knowledge to long-term economic growth and development,” Mendola added.

The study is not the first to recommend using asylum seekers and mass migration to reverse declining populations in rural areas.

In 2017, German magazine Der Spiegel promoted a similar idea in a series of articles, including one that advocated mass migration to boost small Spanish towns with low birthrates.

While the Italian study claimed that a policy of migrants coming to rural areas does not have any short term economic costs, that has not been the case in some small municipalities in Sweden which have taken in large shares of migrants.

The municipality of Bengtsfors, for example, claimed in 2019 that it might be forced to go bankrupt due to the cost of the migrants, many of which lacked the skills or education to get jobs in the area.

Several studies have also claimed that mass migration does not benefit the economy at all and may even have a negative impact in the long-term.

Swedish Professor of Economics Mats Hammarstedt rejected claims that mass migration helps economic growth in December, stating: “The lack of integration of foreign-born people into the labour market is well documented, and the situation has remained largely unchanged in recent decades.”

“Every year, the public sector redistributes resources from domestic-born to foreign-born, and the long time it takes for refugee immigrants and their relatives to establish themselves in the labour market means that refugee immigration entails a cost to public finances even long after the refugees have immigrated to Sweden,” he said.”

They do not want to be contaminated by the west and in a rural area where they are not present in hordes they would have to mix. 10. Stockholm Saw Record Number of Explosions in 2020 (breibart, Jan 21, 2021)

“The Swedish capital city of Stockholm saw a record number of explosions and bombings in 2020 despite the Chinese coronavirus pandemic theoretically encouraging people to stay at home, according to police statistics.

Over the course of last year, Stockholm saw 32 explosions, the highest number ever recorded in the city and up from the 28 in 2019 and 23 in 2018.

Police statistics state that there were 107 explosions and bombings across the entire country in 2020, a figure down from 133 in 2019, Nyheter Idag reports.

Robert Karlsson, deputy regional police chief in Stockholm, said: “I’m not satisfied that there have been so many blasts. However, I am satisfied with the stranglehold on these networks.”

“We have been able to prevent serious crimes, such as explosions, murders, and attempted murders,” he added and claimed officers had developed new investigative methods for handling bombing and explosives cases.

In January of last year, it was noted that very few explosive cases ever end up with convictions due to the difficulty of prosecuting those involved.

In 2019, just seven people were convicted in bombing and explosion cases, with the Swedish Crime Prevention Council (Brå) noting that at least 257 incidents had been reported that year.

While Stockholm saw a record number of bombings in 2020, it was not the region that saw the most bombings overall. The southern region, which includes the Blekinge, Kalmar, Kronoberg, and Skåne counties, saw 40 bombings in total.

2020 also saw an increase in fatal shooting deaths according to police statistics, with 47 people killed as a result of firearms, compared to 42 fatal shootings in 2019 and 45 in 2018.

Late last year, Swedish media predicted that 2020 would be the most deadly year for shootings in Sweden ever, noting that by the 1st of December, the number of deaths had already surpassed that of 2019.

The number of shootings overall increased in 2020 as well with 366 reported cases, compared to 334 in 2019.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ratcheted up the fiery rhetoric in an interview with MSNBC that aired Tuesday, in which she suggesting former Pres. Donald Trump could be charged as an accessory to murder for his alleged role in the Capitol riots.

Pelosi alleged that Trump’s words incited the crowd of protesters on Jan. 6 to engage in violent acts at the Capitol. “[The] president’s words are important,” she told anchor Joy Reid, adding:

Oregon restricts access to COVID vaccine based on race

Oregon is giving minorities preference over whites in access to the coronavirus vaccine, which is unconstitutional.

After vaccinating healthcare workers, teachers, and seniors, Oregon will next vaccinate “people in communities of color, specifically those most impacted by the pandemic: ‘Black, African-American, Hispanic/Latino/Latinx, indigenous peoples, tribal and urban-based native communities, and Pacific Islanders.’”

It is not clear that “Pacific Islanders” really are that “impacted” by the pandemic: One percent of COVID-19 cases in Oregon involve Pacific Islanders, who comprise a bit less than 1% of the state’s population. Blacks account for 3% of cases, despite being only 2% of the population. But there is no reason to expect a group’s percentage of cases to exactly mirror its percentage of the population — especially when it is a small minority group that lives mostly in one part of the state (the Portland metropolitan area).

The Supreme Court says it is “completely unrealistic” to expect that minorities will be represented “in lockstep proportion to their representation in the local population.” (See Richmond v. J.A. Croson Co. (1989)).

    The more things change…

In case Democrats assumed they had the situation under control now that Donald Trump has left the building, protesters with Antifa — the domestic terrorist group that Joe Biden called an “an idea, not an organization” — served them a wakeup call yesterday.

While the new president was busy expounding in his inauguration address upon the scourge of white supremacy (translation: support for Donald Trump), a group of protesters clad in black were up to their old tricks, vandalizing property and carrying on like banshees. But this time their target was the Democratic Party headquarters. Oregon station KTVZ reports via the Associated Press that some 150 miscreants “carrying anti-Biden and anti-police signs … smashed windows and spray-painted anarchist symbols … at the political party building.”

In Portland, black-clad activists with their faces covered broke windows and the glass door at the Democratic Party of Oregon business office, spray-painting an anarchist symbol over the party sign, video posted on social media showed. Some of them tipped over garbage containers and lit the contents on fire, according to reports.

“We don’t want Biden. We want revenge for police murders, imperialist wars, and fascist massacres,” read a banner they marched under, while others carried a banner saying, “We are not governable,” which was dotted with anarchy symbols.

If the push to convict President Donald Trump after he was impeached isn’t stopped by President Joe Biden, then Biden can forget about trying to unify the country, a former Trump adviser said Wednesday.

If Biden is not able to convince Democratic congressional leaders “from backing down from trying to gut Donald J. Trump, forget about unity,” former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said on “War Room.”

“That’s gone, that’s off the table. This will be a 50-50 country. The gap between us will be a chasm. There will be nothing but friction.”

The House of Representatives impeached Trump earlier this month on a charge of incitement of insurrection, alleging he was at fault for the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

The House has not yet submitted the impeachment resolution to the Senate. Typically, trials take place in the upper chamber following an impeachment. At the conclusion of a trial, senators vote to acquit or convict a president. A two-thirds supermajority is required to convict.

    • Trump’s Impeachment Is Unconstitutional and Undemocratic
      Shmuel Klatzkin
      8-10 minutes

Trying an ex-president before the Senate rather than in a court of law is not only unconstitutional, it is a direct assault on the People’s right to choose their chief executive.

When the Framers of our Constitution set about their work, they believed themselves to be continuing the English constitutional tradition. The great landmarks of the English tradition, the Magna Carta, the Petition of Right, the Declaration of Rights, and the Bill of Rights (the English version from 1688) are all cited in The Federalist and figure in the thoughts and the debates of the Framers.

But the Framers had fought against Britain and gave testimony with their fight that they believed that Britain had strayed into tyranny. That was why they fought for independence. The Framers therefore looked at English law traditions with a critical eye. They tried to discern and continue the best of the English law tradition, but they would depart from it where necessary.

  17. Pakistan seeks to block US-based website of minority Ahmadis (abcnews, Jan 21, 2020)

“Pakistan has ordered a U.S.-based website propagating the faith of Pakistan’s minority Ahmadis shut down over allegedly blasphemous content, one of the site’s managers said Thursday.

Harris Zafar said Pakistan’s Telecommunication Authority earlier this month issued a legal notice for him and fellow American Amjad Mahmood Khan, who also manages, demanding that the site be shut down.

Zafar said the website is based in the U.S., where both he and Khan live and work, and called Pakistan’s action “a brazen act of suppression of freedom of expression and freedom of religion.”

“All content is U.S. based and all activities are in the U.S. as well,” said Zafar. “There is nothing about Pakistan on the site. ”

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority did not immediately respond to an AP request for comment and Zafar and Khan’s website is not available in Pakistan.

Zafar, who lives in Portland, Oregon but has relatives in Pakistan, said in an email to The Associated Press that he and Khan were also threatened with a $3.1 million fine and warned of charges under Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy law, which can carry the death penalty for insulting Islam.

Blasphemy has been a contentious issue in Pakistan where domestic and international human rights groups say blasphemy allegations have often been used to intimidate religious minorities and to settle personal scores.

Pakistan’s parliament declared Ahmadis non-Muslims in 1974. Since then, they have repeatedly been targeted by Islamic extremists in the Muslim-majority nation. An Ahmadi can get 10 years in prison for claiming to be a Muslim.

The legal notice accuses Zafar and Khan, a lawyer, of violating Pakistani laws for hosting and disseminating content on their website related to members the Ahmadi community who are “not allowed to preach or propagate their faith or invite others to accept their faith.”

Zafar said he and Khan were both born in the U.S. and did not flee persecution in Pakistan, though he stressed they “do get involved in helping persecuted Ahmadis in Pakistan and other parts of the world.”

The Ahmadi faith was established on the Indian subcontinent in the 19th century by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, whose followers believe he was the messiah that was promised by the Prophet Muhammad. Pakistan’s parliament declared Ahmadis non-Muslims in 1974. Since then, they have repeatedly been targeted by Islamic extremists in the Muslim-majority nation.”

A Tennessee mayor lowered his town’s American flag to half-staff in mourning for the country on the day of President Joe Biden’s inauguration. He posted about lowering the flag on Facebook.

While many critics accused him of trying to incite anger with the post, the mayor insisted that his post had nothing to do with Biden’s inauguration.

An authority on religious cults told CNN Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s influence has been so great that “all of America needs to be deprogrammed” from his personality and polices.

“This is a radical personality change in the mental health literature,” Steven Hassan told CNN’s “New Day” when asked how Trump supporters leading average lives could have participated in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“It’s called the dissociative disorder, questioning of identity. And the bottom line is, all of America needs deprogramming because we’ve all been negatively influenced by Donald Trump,” said Hassan, a mental health counselor and author of “Cult of Trump.” (RELATED: CNN’s ‘Reliable Sources’ Guest Warns Viewers That Trump Supporters Are Part Of A ‘Destructive Cult’)

“So, in studying all the thought-reform, brainwashing models, I developed a BITE model of authoritarian control, and it basically talks about controlling behavior, information, thoughts and emotions to create a new identity that’s dependent and obedient,” Hassan continued, referring to a paper he wrote on how cults control behavior, information, thoughts and emotions.

Todd said the Jan. 6 riot, where a mob breached the Capitol building during a march that turned into a violent attempt to halt the certification of the presidential election results, made Biden’s speech far more relevant.

“By the way, a point of research I had my team look, this is the first inaugural address ever to mention the virus of white supremacy,” Todd said. “We looked at every inaugural address and, you know, these are important,” Todd said.

The formation of a totalitarian state is just about complete in America as the most powerful public and private sector actors unify behind the idea that actions to stamp out dissent can be justified, according to several experts on modern totalitarian ideologies.

While many have warned about the rise of fascism or socialism in “the land of the free,” the ideas have largely been vague or fragmented, focusing on individual events or actors. Recent events, however, indicate that seemingly unconnected pieces of the oppression puzzle are fitting together to form a comprehensive system, according to Michael Rectenwald, a retired liberal arts professor at New York University.

But many Americans, it appears, have been caught off guard or aren’t even aware of the newly forming regime, as the idea of elected officials, government bureaucrats, large corporations, the establishment academia, think tanks and nonprofits, the legacy media, and even seemingly grassroot movements all working in concert toward some evil purpose seems preposterous. Is a large portion of the country in on a conspiracy?

The reality now emerges that no massive conspiracy was in fact needed—merely an ideological alignment and some informal coordination, Rectenwald argues.
