Reader’s Links for December 8, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “Zarathustra announced about 4000 years ago, the core of his doctrine or existential philosophy, in form of 17 songs called the *Gathas*. …the language in which Zarathustra had proclaimed his doctrine, the Gathas, fell in total oblivion for about 2000 years, to the extent that during this very long period not a phrase could be understood. Yet strangely, not a single word has been missed or added or displaced! The Zoroastrian priests, called “mobed”, learned the Gathas by heart and passed them down as an oral tradition from one generation to the next.”

“In the Persian Empire, from the 6th to the 3rd century BC. the Gathas, within the Zoroastrian doctrine, were the existential philosophy of this first and huge universal empire that ruled over 28 countries, including Greece, Egypt, India, and whole of the Middle and Near East countries.

However with the collapse of the Persian Empire in the 3rd Century BC. and the destruction, burning and looting of Persepolis, Susa, and their libraries by the armies of Alexander of Macedonia, and the consequent disintegration of that brilliant civilisation that had given to the world the first “Charter of Human Rights” (now in the British Museum), – a dreadful catastrophe with regard to the Gathas occurred. The language of the Gathas spoken only in a small region of that Empire, slowly faded away and eventually was forgotten.

This oblivion was going to last over 2000 years. Very soon, another Persian dynasty from the North of Iran, (the Parthians) chasing the Greeks, imposed its rule not only over Iran, but also over the whole of Central Asia, and the Middle and Near East. Their very long rule was going to last almost 500 years from 248 BC. to 224 AC.

During the period of oblivion into which the language of the Gathas had fallen, many tried to guess what Zarathustra had said. Every one offered his or her own interpretations, views and opinions. Meaningless rituals and myths, both pre-Zoroastrian and post-Zoroastrian, were introduced, and beliefs completely foreign to the original sublime doctrine of Zarathustra (which was based entirely on reason and wisdom, as expressed in the Gathas), entered into “The Avesta” in the name of Zarathustra.

Out of Zarathustra’s supposed sayings or the interaction with the newly born religions such as the Christianity, other religions such as Manichaeism appeared in the 3rd century and the first communist doctrine called Mazdekism after the name of its founder Mazdak emerged in the 5th century.”
From The Gathas the Sublime Book of Zarathustra by Khosro Khazai, Ph.D

“Zarathustra named his doctrine Good Conscience “daena vanguhi”, and called his teachings thought-awakening words “manthra”. His disciples titled him The Teacher “manthran”, that means “the one who teaches thought awakening songs”.”

“The system he built is based upon three pillars: Good Thought, Good Word and Good Deed.
The pinnacle of this system is occupied by Ahura Mazda, an abstract idea and a spiritual concept:…”

    “Song 1 (Hat 28)

Zarathustra’s prayer for happiness and power to make the Earth a happy planet

1-With uplifted arms, O Mazda I pray and humbly ask for happiness. May all my actions be attuned with Wisdom and Good Thought and in harmony with the Law of Righteousness That I may please you and bring happiness to the Soul of the Earth

    …

11- O Mazda Ahura, I who have always abided by the principles of Righteousness and Good Thought, show me then O Mazda Ahura, how I should teach Your sublime thoughts as they emanate from Your profundity, and your words, as they come from Your mouth, so that, I may explain how a blissful life is attained.”

    • Jews and Parsis bond everywhere – Persia, India, Israel, pre-IRI Iran. I’m fond of the few Parsis I’ve known. At the very top of that list is the great Zubin Mehta.

“After Iraq launched Scud missiles into Israel, Mehta raced to Israel.…

“Another notable musician who rushed to Israel was solo violinist Isaac Stern and ‘at our concert in Jerusalem, we were both presented on stage with gas masks – just in case. We never needed them, and we only performed during the day, as the scuds were mainly at night when the country was in total darkness.

“And yet, Israelis showed their grit – we performed to packed audiences. Think of it, missiles were raining down on Israel, and its people wanted to hear classical music.’ ”

  2. Talk about in-your-face fascism.

Drug companies cuddling up to Team Biden so they can suck profit from the veins of Americans, while injecting a Frankenvax for a corona that can’t be cornered for the same reason there has never been a cure for the common-cold corona virus.

Isn’t it amazing how easily and quickly people forget such long-standing truths while accepting instant scientific innovation that has appeared incredibly conveniently? Poppycock!

Hey, Mr. Government-friendly scientific company guy, make us some anti-gravity underpants. Or how about that invisibility device we’ve wanted all these years? Or how about inventing a time machine? What? What did you say? You have to work on this miracle vaccine first? Then stop climate change and then you’ll get right on these other inventions? Gee-whizz, thanks Mr. Government-friendly scientific company guy. You’re swell.

  4. Children forced to eat dinner with hands as school bans knives and forks ‘Utter joke’ (express, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1369758/Walsall-school-coronavirus-rules-knives-forks-edgar-stammers

“CHILDREN at a Walsall school have been forced to eat meals with their hands after knives and forks were banned by teachers.

In a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus, pupils at Edgar Stammers Primary Academy are currently having lunch delivered to them in the classroom to ensure they do not mix with children from other bubbles. A ‘reduced’ menu is being offered, consisting of ‘finger food’. However parents were unhappy to discover youngsters at the school in Harden Road, Coalpool, had been expected to eat ‘a small amount of mash served in a Yorkshire pudding’ without cutlery. One parent, who did not wish to be named, said it was an “utter joke” – and it appears she was not the only one as headteacher Darren Mann admitted some of the feedback he’d received was ‘not positive’.

In a letter to parents, sent at the end of November, Mr Mann said he had informed the University of Wolverhampton Multi Academy Trust of the desire to bring back cutlery ‘as soon as possible’.

He said: “As parents know, we have been trying to increase the amount of hot food in the menu, but with the restriction of it being classed as finger food.

“Today, as part of the lunch, we had a small amount of mash that was served in a Yorkshire pudding to enable the children to pick it up and eat together. Unfortunately, the feedback from this from some parents and children has not been positive.

“We’d like to thank these parents and children for their feedback and we realise that it hasn’t worked today. We will look to adapt the menu again to try and make it better and easier for the children.

“I have also informed our academy trust of our desire to start using cutlery as soon as possible. As soon as it is deemed safe under their Covid restrictions, we will let all parents and children know.”

Professor Michelle Shaw, CEO at University of Wolverhampton Multi Academy Trust, told the Birmingham Mail picnic lunches were being served in brown bags as plates, hot food and utensils ‘could not be transported around schools safely’.

She said pupils washed their hands before and after meals and the use of ‘hard utensils which may spread the virus’ had been limited.

“All our school leaders work very closely with their catering teams to continue to provide hot meals for our children throughout the pandemic,” she said.

“Arrangements at lunchtimes are in place to ensure that children do not mix with children from other bubbles, meaning that children are having their food brought to them in their areas of the school buildings instead of using school dining halls. To ensure that this is done as safely as possible, hot meals are provided in ‘grab bag’ style packaging.

“Menus are carefully planned to ensure that they comply with school food standards, including a variety of foods across each week and including daily choices of fruits and vegetables. UWMAT is fully committed to ensuring that eating in school is a pleasurable experience for all children.

“All decisions that we make are carefully considered and we highly value the views of all our school communities, encouraging our parents/carers and children to give feedback.”

She continued: “With health and safety as the priority in all our schools, all of our Covid risk assessments are reviewed regularly and procedures are updated accordingly.

“Our schools have increased hygiene measures throughout the day and pupils wash their hands before and after meals. We have ensured that we keep our children safe by limiting the use of hard utensils which may spread the virus, and continue to monitor the situation following all available guidance.

“We cannot transport plates, hot food and utensils around schools safely, as some have steps, nor can we keep that food at the required temperatures to serve it. Therefore we have chosen to provide brown bag, picnic lunches in classrooms. These consist of healthy choices, devised with our caterers.

“We have risk assessed all of our Covid practices using an external health and safety specialist company and our practices are robust.””

  5. Facebook freezes accounts of British historical re-enactment society ‘after mistaking them for a US far-right militia’ (dailymail, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9030405/Facebook-freezes-accounts-British-historical-enactment-society.html

“Facebook has frozen the accounts of members of a British historical re-enactment society after mistaking them for a US far-right militia group.

Wimborne Militia recreates historic battles from the 17th century and helps out with other local events – including recently turning on a town’s Christmas lights.

But five of its 60 members have had their Facebook profiles disabled, leaving them unable to post photos or comments.

The group, based in Dorset, fears it is because the social media giant has mis-identified its page as being part of a right-wing movement in the US.

Facebook, which moved to take down or restrict controversial accounts earlier this year, said it had restored the accounts after an ‘error’.

A spokesman told MailOnline: ‘The Group and accounts were removed in error and have now been restored. We’re sorry for any upset this has caused and we’ve taken steps to prevent this happening again.’

The group relies on social media to keep the public informed of its activities – especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

It said in a post on Facebook: ‘Hello, It seem that due to events overseas, Facebook is deleting anything to do with Militias.

‘Unfortunately despite being a British Reenactment society we seem to have been caught up in the algorithm.

‘So if this page disappears that is why. We shall have to start again!’

While the five deleted accounts were those of the group’s administrators, the main page has remained online.

One of those affected is Chris Brown, who is also the local town crier.

He told the BBC: ‘I run a number of social media pages and contribute to pages about Wimborne.

‘I’m the administrator of the neighbourhood watch, so I can’t even do that at the moment.’

Facebook began banning militia groups in the US after critics claimed the platform was being used to encourage violence.

In October the company began down-ranking content in restricted pages and groups, meaning members would only see it further down in their feed.

‘We are also prohibiting anyone on our platform from running ads that praise, support or represent militarized social movements and QAnon,’ Facebook said in an update.

In August, Facebook had banned about 900 pages and groups and 1,500 ads tied to the conspiracy theorists which believe the president is secretly fighting against elite Satan-worshiping pedophiles in the government.

The effort was part of what they called a ‘policy expansion,’ seeking to limit violent rhetoric tied to QAnon, political militias and protest groups like Antifa.

Brian Fishman, who runs Facebook’s global counterterrorism team, on Wednesday said they have since identified more than 300 groups under the policy and removed more than 6,500 groups and pages between August 19 and September 15.”

  6. Gunmen kill TV cameraman in northwestern Pakistan (abcnews, Dec 8, 2020)

“Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a journalist in the northwestern Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan, police said Tuesday.

Police officer Aslam Khan said gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened fire on Qais Javed near his home after midnight and fled from the scene. Khan said Javed was shot multiple times and was rushed to the city’s main hospital but died on the way. Javed, 37, previously worked as a cameraman at a top local television station and had recently started his own web channel.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the killing and police said they were investigating to determine the motive. Javed was Christian and extremist groups have targeted members of religious minorities in recent years. Islamic militants have also targeted journalists in the region.

Pakistan is considered to be one of the most dangerous places for journalists as 70 have been killed in the country in last two decades, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.”

  7. Turkey orders 304 military detained over suspected coup ties (abcnews, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkey-orders-304-military-detained-suspected-coup-ties-74599301

“Turkey has ordered the detention of 304 members of the military in an operation targeting the group that the government claims to be behind a 2016 coup attempt, state-run media reported Tuesday.

The Anadolu news agency said an investigation led by prosecutors in the western city of Izmir targeted suspects, including five colonels, in the army and air force across 50 provinces.

More than 285 people were killed in the failed July 2016 coup attempt, which Ankara says was organized by the U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen. Gulen, who lives in the United States, denies involvement in the attempt.

But a clampdown on his followers has seen 292,000 people detained, of which 96,000 have been jailed pending trial, over the last four years. More than 130,000 people have been fired from public service jobs through emergency decrees, among them teachers and police officers.

Critics say the arrests and dismissals have also targeted the wider opposition to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government under Turkey’s broad anti-terror laws.

Anadolu said the Izmir operation was the largest against armed forces’ personnel in terms of the number and rank of the suspects.”

  8. Senior member of Syrian White Helmets flown to Germany (abcnews, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/senior-member-syrian-white-helmets-flown-germany-74599868

“A senior member of the Syrian civil defense and medical group that operates in opposition-held areas, known as the White Helmets, has been flown to Germany, a German diplomat said Tuesday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because she wasn’t authorized to be quoted by name, the official confirmed a report by German weekly Der Spiegel that Khaled al-Saleh and his family had arrived in Germany.

Der Spiegel reported that al-Saleh was flown out of Jordan on a Luftwaffe plane late Monday.

He had been living in the kingdom since 2018 after helping organize the evacuation of hundreds of besieged White Helmet members from Syria to Jordan, via Israel.

Many of those evacuated were resettled in Europe and Canada, but efforts to bring al-Saleh to Germany were stymied by concerns among security officials in Germany that he might have ties to Islamist extremists, Der Spiegel reported.

The White Helmets have enjoyed backing and received funding and training from Western nations and have been nominated previously for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Syrian government and Russia accuses them of cooperating with radical militant groups.

Der Spiegel reported that Jordan’s King Abdullah II personally intervened with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to ensure al-Saleh’s resettlement.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have sought refuge in Germany since the start of the war in Syria.”

  9. Iran’s president vows to continue supporting Syria (abcnews, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/irans-president-vows-continue-supporting-syria-74599867

“Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday his country will continue to support Syria, urging Damascus to confront Israel in the occupied Golan Heights.

Rouhani’s website said the remarks came during a meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its support to the Syrian government and people as our strategic ally and we will stand by Syria until its final victory.”

Rouhani said confronting “Zionist occupiers and terrorism” is the joint goal of both nations.

“Until the liberation of all occupied lands including the Golan, confronting Zionist occupiers,” should continue, said Rouhani.

It was Mekad’s first visit to Iran as foreign minister after he assumed his post in November. He arrived in Tehran on Monday.

Iran has been a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad since the beginning of Syria’s civil war in 2011, lending his government in Damascus vital military and economic support.

Iran does not recognize Israel and supports anti-Israel militant groups like the Palestinian Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Israel accuses Iran of building up its military presence along its northern frontier with Syria and has repeatedly struck Iran-linked facilities and weapons convoys destined for Hezbollah.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Mideast war.”

  10. Egypt says 40 militants killed in Sinai since September (abcnews, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/egypt-40-militants-killed-sinai-september-74600790

“The Egyptian military on Tuesday said forces have killed at least 40 militants over the past three months in raids and airstrikes against an Islamic insurgency in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, in clashes that also left at least six casualties among its troops.

The military said in a statement that forces destroyed around 440 hideouts and weapons depots and dismantled around 160 explosive devices. The statement said the military destroyed six four-wheel drive vehicles and 32 motorcycles used by militants since Sept. 1.

The military said forces also arrested two dozen suspected militants, and seized weapons in the raids. It did not specify whether the soldiers were killed or wounded.

In February 2018, Egypt launched an operation against militants in the Sinai and the Western Desert along the border with Libya. It has also built a buffer zone along the border with the Gaza Strip to curb the flow of militants and weapons through a vast underground tunnel network.

The military periodically releases figures on the operation, and is believed to have killed hundreds of militants since it began. The details provided by the military could not be independently corroborated as Egyptian authorities heavily restrict access to the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula.

Among the militants killed in recent months was Abdel-Qader Sweilam, an Islamic State leader in the border town of Rafah, security officials said. Forces Monday killed Sweilam along with two of his associates in a raid on his hideout east of the Mediterranean city of el-Arish.

An official said Sweilam, 46, was one of the masterminds of an attack on a mosque in Sinai’s Al-Rawdah village in November 2017 that killed over 300 worshippers, in the deadliest such killing in Egypt’s modern history.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media about the ongoing operation.

In Egypt’s Western Desert, the military said airstrikes destroyed 21 vehicles containing weapons and ammunition, and intercepted around 1,450 migrants while attempting to cross into Libya.

Egypt has been battling militants in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula for years, but the insurgency became far more deadly after the 2013 military ouster of Mohammed Morsi, an elected but divisive Islamist president amid nationwide protests against his brief rule.

An Islamic State affiliate based in the Sinai has carried out high-profile attacks in recent years, mainly targeting security forces and Egypt’s Christian minority.”

  13. Human Rights Law Used to Prevent Deportation of Turkish Drug Lord From the UK (breitbart, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/08/human-rights-law-used-to-prevent-deportation-of-turkish-drug-lord/

“A human rights law was successfully used to block the deportation of a Turkish drug lord from the United Kingdom despite previously being ruled by British judges to be a “danger to the community”.

The 52-year-old Turk — referred to only as ‘CD’ as he was also granted anonymity — has been described as a “very major player” in the heroin-smuggling racket in Britain, yet he will not face deportation.

CD was released from prison in January after only serving two-thirds of his 18-year sentence. Rather than being deported from the country, his lawyers successfully argued that his removal from the country would breach his human rights due to the dangers he would face should he return to his native Turkey.

According to documents seen by the Mail on Sunday, the drug dealer initially entered the UK as an illegal immigrant in 1995 and was refused asylum, but was granted exceptional leave to remain in the country in the year 2000.

In 2002, CD was arrested after Dutch police tipped off the UK that he was wanted in connection to the heroin trade, and was jailed for four years in that country after police found a loaded pistol in his flat.

While in prison, the illegal Turkish migrant successfully argued against deportation and was granted asylum, claiming that his ties to Kurdish separatists and his previous crimes would put his life in danger in Turkey.

CD was arrested again in 2008 after police surveillance of his home found that he was acting as the leader of a “massive” drug importation ring. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison, however, he only served two-thirds of his sentence.

Immigration judges ruled that the Turkish migrant was successful in his attempt to “deceive and conceal” the true risk of his release from probation officers.

“We do not accept that he rose from the bottom to the top of an international heroin smuggling ring within 18 months of his release from prison,” the judges wrote.

“We think he has wilfully attempted to minimise or conceal his previous involvement in that world,” they added, yet this was apparently not enough to deport him from the UK.

Home Secretary Priti Patel laid out plans in November to simplify the system for judges to deport foreign criminals, however, it is currently unknown whether the update to the law would supersede the Human Rights Act of 1998 in cases like that of CD.

In response to the failed attempts to deport the Turkish drug kingpin, the Chairman of Migration Watch UK, Alp Mehmet said: “The Government needs to be able to remove offenders who pose a threat to the public.”

At present, there are approximately 10,000 foreign criminals remaining in the UK despite being subject to deportation, compared to 3,943 in 2012.”

  14. ‘What About My Daughter?’ 1,000 pop. English Village Braces for 500-Man Migrant Camp (breitbart, Dec 8, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/08/what-about-my-daughter-outrage-as-small-english-village-braces-for-500-strong-migrant-camp/

“Local inhabitants of a small village in rural England have raised concerns after Home Office plans revealed that the government is considering the construction of a migrant camp outside the settlement.

Amidst record-breaking waves of illegal boat migration across the English Channel, the British government has been forced to resort to tactics which hitherto have mainly been seen on continental Europe.

According to the Daily Echo, the Home Office is planning to construct a camp of portacabins just outside the small Hampshire village of Barton Stacey on a Ministry of Defence property that would be capable of housing 500 alleged asylum seekers. The village itself is home to only 1,000 residents, and the plans have sparked deep concern amongst the local population.

The leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North likened the planned migrant camp to an “open prison”.

“An influx of 500 young men in a village with an existing population of just 1,000, would have an overwhelmingly detrimental impact. In other similar facilities this has led to an increase in anti-social behaviour and criminality,” North warned.

“There are few places I would consider less appropriate for a facility of this nature and it concerns me that this would even be considered,” he added.

Cllr North alongside local MP Caroline Nokes launched a petition, requesting that the Home Office reconsider building the camp near the village. So far, over 1,500 people have signed the petition.

One woman who signed the petition said: “I’m afraid that I will feel very nervous allowing my children (12 and 10) to walk around the village alone. This is not the right place for such a camp.”

Another said: “As a mother of a teenage daughter, placing this camp close to our village raises enormous concerns for the safety of my daughter and any other females who should have the right to feel safe in their own community.”

“In my opinion, housing 500 men close by, with little for them to do poses a significant risk to the safety and wellbeing of our small village,” she added.

So far this year, approximately 8,500 illegal migrants have landed on British shores after making the perilous journey across the English Channel in small rubber boats from France.

The housing illegal migrants in small villages and towns have been a feature of the European Migrant Crisis in countries such as Germany, Italy, and Greece, leading to increased social tensions.

In one notable example, a group of asylum seekers terrorised a local fair in the small German town of Steinfurt in 2018, fighting with local teenagers, harassing ride owners, and sexually molesting young women.

In 2016, a study entitled “Refugee Integration: Challenges for German Municipalities” found that many small towns in Germany were driven into enormous amounts of debt in order to provide food and shelter for migrants.

Tensions have already been rising in the former army barracks turned migrant camp in Folkestone, Kent, where migrants have complained about the supposed poor conditions in the facility, which used to house British soldiers.

In November, a group of migrants attempted to break down the gates surrounding the camp, demanding that they have access to the local town.”

The federal government Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines (ACCV) under the US Department of Health and Human Services met on December 3, 2020, and the Department of Justice reported that during a 3-month period from August 16th through November 15th this year, 166 cases of vaccine injuries were compensated through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP). You can read the full report here. The NVICP was started as a result of a law passed in 1986 that gave pharmaceutical companies legal immunity from being sued due to injuries and deaths resulting from vaccines. The other thing to understand is that these funds are paid on vaccines that have gone through the FDA full approval process, not fast-tracked vaccines approved for emergency use. It typically takes 5 to 7 years to bring a new vaccine to market. So none of these funds will be available to anyone who suffers injuries or dies due to the FDA fast-tracked for emergency use authorization (EUA) experimental COVID19 mRNA vaccine. Why would you start believing them now when they are fully admitting that the new COVID vaccines are being fast-tracked, and that the mRNA vaccines are an entirely new class of vaccine never before distributed to the public?

  17. RED CROSS PRESIDENT DEMANDS GOV’T & MEDIA SILENCE THOSE WHO QUESTION SAFETY OF COVID-19 VACCINE
Classified US State Department cables made public in 2010 by Wikileaks indicated that Pfizer had hired investigators to dig up dirt on Nigeria’s former attorney general as a way to get leverage in one of the remaining cases. Pfizer had to apologize over the revelation in the cables that it had falsely claimed that the group Doctors Without Borders was also dispensing Trovan during the Nigerian meningitis epidemic. Are we supposed to forget the track record of this company who deliberately misled regulators about the hazards of their products, knowingly contributing to the deaths of more than 125 people? Or who experimented on children? Or who has paid out hundreds of millions in settlements for the deaths of scores of patients? The fact is that Pfizer is one of many companies developing or who has developed a COVID-19 vaccine with track records that include bribing government officials to illegally testing products on children to making false claims about drugs and illegally marketing them. These companies include Johnson & Johnson, whose penalty total on Violation Tracker is $4.2 billion, AstraZeneca ($1.1 billion), GlaxoSmithKline ($4.4 billion) and Sanofi ($641 million). The track record of these companies, coupled with the incredibly fast development even has staunchly pro-vaccine health care workers worried.

  18. Biden’s HHS pick thinks AR-15s are ‘not in common use for self defense’
By Daily Caller News Foundation December 7, 2020

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, President-elect Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, said AR-15s are akin to military-grade weapons and not useful for self defense in a 2019 court filing.

The AG’s statements were included in a court case that challenged California’s gun ban titled Rupp v. Becerra, in which multiple state residents sued government officials to overturn the prohibition of certain semi-automatic firearms. Becerra, an advocate for the Affordable Care Act, was announced as Biden’s pick to lead HHS Sunday, according to the New York Times.

“Assault rifles may be banned because they are, like the M-16, ‘weapons that are most useful in military service’; and ‘they are also not ‘in common use’ for lawful purposes like self-defense,’” Becerra wrote in defense of California’s weapon ban.

  19. Dept. of Defense previews COVID vaccination cards to be issued
By Rusty Weiss December 7, 2020

The Department of Defense has released images of COVID-19 cards – Cards used to keep track of your coronavirus vaccinations.

CNN is reporting that the “cards will be used as the ‘simplest’ way to keep track of Covid-19 shots” and that vaccinations will be monitored in state immunization registries.

“Everyone will be issued a written card that they can put in their wallet that will tell them what they had and when their next dose is due,” says Kelly Moore, associate director of the Immunization Action Coalition.

Patients will be asked to voluntarily give their cell phone number in order to receive alerts about when their next dose is due.

The obvious question must be asked. Could this be worrisome?

A World Health Organization official said on Tuesday that only public health measures, not vaccines, can prevent a new surge of COVID-19 cases, as the first vaccines are administered in Britain.

“Vaccines are a great tool, they will be very helpful, but the effect of the vaccine in providing some kind of immune barrier is still far off,” said WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris, asked at a Geneva briefing whether the vaccines would come in time to prevent a third wave of cases in Europe.

[…] the AstraZeneca-Oxford jab – has published peer-reviewed data in the Lancet purporting to show that the shot is safe and effective.

However, many questions about its efficacy and safety remain, and if anything, the data suggests that more research on the jab is needed.

[…]Given the fact that only 20% of the patients in the global trials were over the age of 55, questions remain about the vaccine’s efficacy among elderly patients.

[…]Researchers claim the vaccine protected against disease in 62% of those given two full doses and in 90% of those initially given just the half dose, followed by a full dose.
However, independent experts have said the second group was too small — 2,741 people — to judge the possible value of that approach and that more testing is needed.

The half-dose group also didn’t include anyone over 55, and among others in the study, only about 20% were in that age group.

Texas Asks Supreme Court to Rule Election in Four Battleground States Unconstitutional
    By Ivan Pentchoukov
    December 8, 2020 Updated: December 8, 2020

The state of Texas on Tuesday filed an election lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court against Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin, alleging that the states unconstitutionally changed election laws, treated voters unequally, and triggered significant voting irregularities by relaxing ballot-integrity measures.

“Plaintiff State respectfully submits that the foregoing types of electoral irregularities exceed the hanging-chad saga of the 2000 election in their degree of departure from both state and federal law,” the Supreme Court motion (pdf) states. “Moreover, these flaws cumulatively preclude knowing who legitimately won the 2020 election and threaten to cloud all future elections.”

Election officials in the four states didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The lawsuit seeks a determination by the court that the four battleground states conducted the 2020 election in violation of the Constitution. Texas is asking the Supreme Court to prohibit the counting of the Electoral College votes cast by the four states. For the states which have already appointed electors, the lawsuit asks the court to direct the state legislatures to appoint new electors in line with the Constitution.

Rep.-elect Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) said Sunday that her team’s vision is to put an end to the “socialist agenda” that she believes is engulfing the nation.

During an appearance on The Epoch Times’ “American Thought Leaders,” Boebert expressed concern over the handling of the ongoing CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic by some state leaders, saying that the United States is “going toward socialism very quickly.”

“I’m a mom, I’m a small business owner, and I see the direction that our country is going. We are going toward socialism very quickly—our government is so large,” said Boebert, who won the election for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District after ousting a Republican congressman in the primary.

“When you have a government that is big enough to tell you that you are not essential, that small businesses are not essential, that you could not celebrate Thanksgiving with your family, that’s a government that is too big, and it’s a government that needs to be put in check,” she explained. “We want small government, limited government, and big freedom.”

  26. Sen. Cruz Agrees to Argue Pennsylvania Election Case If Taken Up by Supreme Court

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said on Monday that he was willing to make oral arguments before the Supreme Court in an appeal seeking to block the state from taking further action to certify their election results.

The appeal is currently pending before the Supreme Court after Pennsylvania Republicans filed a request to block the finalizing of certification citing constitutional challenges.

In the instance where the certification has been finalized, Republicans asked the court to restore the “status quo” by compelling Pennsylvania officials to nullify its actions until an order from the court.

The Republicans also asked the court to treat the request as a petition of certiorari, asking the court to review the lawfulness of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision.

Cruz said that he was asked whether he would be willing to argue the case before the nation’s top court if the justices grant certiorari. The former Texas solicitor general said that he had agreed and that he would “stand ready to present oral arguments.”

  27. The “I Hate Trump, so election-fraud is totally OK” Democrats

Anyone watching the Presidential vote tallies on November 4, 2020, knew there was election fraud in plain sight. All of sudden, just when the votes were accelerating for President Trump, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and a couple of other states all stopped tallying the votes at virtually the exact same time.

One could accept that maybe, one state goes down, two states, even three – but all the swing states where the Democrats controlled the Governor, Secretary of State, and voting supervisors (except for Georgia)? Nobody has explained why the mass vote-count-seizure happened.

Imagine if the “shoe was on the other foot.” Imagine if instead of Democrat-controlled swing states, the same election-shenanigans happened in Republican-controlled swing states where all of a sudden, the vote counting stopped simultaneously and, shazam, there appeared hundreds of thousands of Trump votes during the time Democrat ballot counting watchers were completely banned!!

Instead of the lame-stream media coronating Second Term President-Elect Trump, they would be screaming that Trump had just committed the election-crime of the century, and all the Governors, Secretaries of State, and the voting supervisors who had barred the Democrat ballot watchers should all be, en masse, arrested.

The FBI would be raiding Trump campaign offices in full tactical gear armed with MP5/10 submachine guns and Remington 870 12-gauge shotguns.

  28. Obama judge upholds Michigan election: ‘The people have spoken’

A federal judge has rejected a last-minute push by Michigan Republicans who sought an emergency order to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the state, saying the effort aimed to “ignore the will of millions of voters.”

The suit seemed “less about achieving the relief” the GOP plaintiffs sought and “more about the impact of their allegations on people’s faith in the democratic process and their trust in our government,” wrote Detroit U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker of Michigan’s Eastern District.

“The People have spoken,” wrote Parker, who issued the ruling in the early morning hours of Monday, a week before the nation’s presidential electors will meet.

Trump lost Michigan 51%-48% or by 154,000 votes to President-elect Joe Biden, and the Board of State Canvassers certified the tally on Nov. 23.

On Nov. 25, six Michigan Republicans, represented by conservative attorney Sidney Powell, filed their lawsuit asking for “emergency relief,” including a court order requiring Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to sign off on certified election results that state “President Donald Trump is the winner of the election.”

The suit also asked the federal judge to impound “all voting machines and software in Michigan for expert inspection.” The defendants in Powell’s suit are Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Board of State Canvassers.

Powell is a Trump supporter who has previously appeared with his legal team and is filing similar challenges in multiple states. Her suits have relied heavily on conspiracy theories and debunked claims of voter fraud.

  32. Far-Right Vox Party Urges Spain to Deport Moroccan, Algerian Migrants
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2020/12/328225/far-right-vox-party-urges-spain-to-deport-moroccan-algerian-migrants/

“Spanish far-right party Vox has accused Spain’s government of “discriminating against Spaniards” because of its inability to deport Moroccan and Algerian irregular migrants.

“We demand that this illegal immigration, which has become genuine discrimination against Spaniards, be stopped,” declared Vox President Santiago Abascal.

The Spanish politician made the statement in a populist speech on December 5 during a visit to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

The Spanish archipelago has witnessed a surge in arrivals of irregular migrants this year. According to the Canarian government, approximately 12,700 irregular migrants have arrived in the Canaries on board 449 boats since the start of 2020. A large number of the migrants depart from Morocco’s southwestern coasts.

Abascal demanded that Spain, as well as the European Union, pressure Morocco and Algeria “who refuse to receive their own nationals” and solve “the issue of illegal migrants.”

“We are facing a migration invasion and demand an immediate reaction,” he declared.

Responding to commentators who denounce the discriminatory positions of Vox, Abascal said that the party’s stance on migration stems from “common sense.”

“We do not incite hatred, we speak from common sense. We only have a phobia from the ‘progressive politicians’ who are destroying coexistence,” he said.

The populist demands of the Vox leader come less than 10 days before a high-level Spanish delegation led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will travel to Morocco.

The 12th Morocco-Spain High-Level Meeting is set to take place in Rabat starting December 17.

During the meeting, Spain and Morocco’s governments are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including the situation of Moroccan irregular migrants in the European country.”

  35. French Muslims say ‘radical Islamism’ law is discriminatory
    https://www.dw.com/en/french-muslims-say-radical-islamism-law-is-discriminatory/a-55876637

“France’s government is presenting a draft law to combat “radical Islamism.” Critics say the measures are inefficient and will further stigmatize Muslims.

Irfan Thakar and Omar Ahamad feel misunderstood as Muslims in France. They are members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Saint-Prix, a northern suburb of Paris. As the imam, the 30-year-old Thakar regularly leads the prayer at the Moubarak mosque, which features a green-and-white carpet and large windows that let in lots of light. “I am French,” Thakar told DW while sitting in a room adjacent to the prayer room and sipping a glass of multivitamin juice. “And, yet, I have to explain that over and over again to non-Muslims,” he said. “Many people think that Islam is incompatible with France — but that’s not true.”

Ahamad, sitting in an armchair next to him, nodded his approval. “We are being treated as if we belonged to a different nation, a different race,” he said. “That’s also due to the fact that the media only speak of Islam when there has been another terror attack.”

they mentioned the speech President Emmanuel Macron gave in the suburb of Les Mureaux, just 30 kilometers (18 miles) west of Saint-Prix, in early October. “Macron talked about ‘Islamist separatism’ and said that Islam was in crisis,” Thakar said. “How can he say something like that? That’s highly stigmatizing.”

The alienation Thakar and Ahamad have felt will likely increase should a series of new measures proposed by France’s government pass.

    Surveilling French mosques
The proposed measures follow three recent terror attacks in France in which assailants killed a total of four people and severely injured two people in and around Paris and the southern city of Nice. The government has increased surveillance of of about 50 Muslim associations and 75 mosques. France also intends to expel more than 200 noncitizens suspected of having been radicalized.

A bill that will be put before the Cabinet on Wednesday would increase surveillance of all mosques in France, as well as their financing, with the government also aiming to add more oversight to the training of imams. The draft law would also limit homeschooling, create new rules against online hate campaigns and permit imprisonment for intimidating public servants on religious grounds. The bill could reach Parliament in early 2020 and come into force a few months later.

Thakar and Ahamad are not opposed to surveillance of mosques and imams suspected of engaging in extremism. “It’s in our interest to do something against these radical fanatics that have nothing to do with our vision of Islam,” Ahamad said. “We also need to protect our own families against them.”

    Stigmatizing Muslims?
Asif Arif, a lawyer who is also a member of the Ahmadiyya community and the author of the book Etre Musulman en France (Being Muslim in France), said the new measures missed the target. “Terrorists no longer get radicalized in mosques,” he said. “That all happens online and while they are in contact with international networks.”

Arif said the measures would only further stigmatize Muslims in France. “The government has double standards,” he said. “It bans the Collective Against Islamophobia, which fights against the discrimination of Muslims. But it doesn’t disband the far-right group Generation Identitaire, which clearly carries our illegal actions such as doing police controls amongst migrants on the border to Italy two years ago.”

“What’s more, we already have sufficient laws to fight terrorism and one of the world’s strictest anti-terror legislation,” Arif said. “Instead of coming up with new laws further restricting our freedoms the government should apply the existing ones.”

    Government ‘not Islamophobic’
The government denies that the religion itself is being targeted. “We are not Islamophobic,” a spokesman for Elysee Palace told DW during a recent press briefing. “We are only trying to enforce the values of our republic.” He said some mosques were spreading hate speech online, and cited the Grand Mosque of Pantin in a northeastern suburb of Paris. That mosque had put out a video condemning the history teacher Samuel Paty because he had shown a caricature of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in class. In October, an 18-year-old Chechnyan Muslim from Russia killed Paty.

The spokesman said the government was monitoring Generation Identitaire. “We will never let the enemies of the Republic thrive in France,” he said.

But Francois Burgat doesn’t believe that the government is neutral when it comes to religion. He is a political scientist at the Institute of Research and Study on the Arab and Muslim Worlds in the southern city of Marseilles. “Macron has entered a new phase,” Burgat told DW, referring to the policies sought by the president. “He takes the necessary measures to please the right and the far-right, as he needs their vote in the presidential elections in 2022.”

Burgat said Macron should finally accept that the country has its share of responsibility when it comes to radicalization. “Muslims often get discriminated against on the job market and feel sidelined in our country,” he said. “That incites them to get radicalized. Recognizing that will help us fight at least the radicalization happening on our own soil.”

    Macron’s wide net
Farhad Khosrokhavar, a sociologist at the School of Advanced Social Sciences in Paris, said the measures were foremost aimed at appeasing the public. Recent polls show that more than 90% of respondents think that the risk of new terror attacks in France is high or very high. “The government is cracking down on groups that have nothing to do with radicalization,” Khosrokhavar told DW. “And Macron now opposes Salafists, which in France often belong to the peaceful pietistic branch. All this is highly stigmatizing.”

Khosrokhavar said France’s interpretation of secularism was part of the problem because of its strict rules, such as a far-reaching ban on headscarves worn by Muslim women at school and in public workplaces. “That vision is anti-Muslim, which contributes to people getting radicalized,” he said.

“It can’t be a coincidence that, between 2000 and 2017, there were 23 terror attacks in France compared to 10 in Great Britain and only five in Germany,” Khosrokhavar said.

The lawyer Arif said he hoped the situation would improve — and he has concrete suggestions to help make that happen. “The government should finally bring in Muslims instead of only declaring them the scapegoats,” he said. “We are not the problem: We are part of the solution”.

Arif called for a three-month “cool down” after terror attacks. “The government shouldn’t be allowed to pass any new terror-related laws during that period,” he said, “so as to prevent hasty reactions that would only limit our freedoms even more.””
