Reader’s Links for November 25, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Terrorism investigation opened into attack on 2 women in Swiss store, suspect ‘shouted Allahu Akbar’ during stabbing
A stabbing attack which injured two women in a department store in the Swiss city of Lugano is being investigated as a suspected terrorist act. The female suspect, who allegedly called out ‘Allahu Akbar,’ has been arrested.
The attack occurred around 2pm local time, when a 28-year-old Swiss woman, who lives in the area, grabbed the first victim by the neck with her bare hands before turning on a second woman and slashing her with a knife, police said.
According to local reports, the attacker seized a bread knife from a store display as her weapon. She also reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar!” and screamed that she was from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), according to Swiss media.

Swiss police identify assailant in knife attack as jihadist
Swiss police have identified a Swiss woman who knifed a victim in the neck and grabbed another by the throat in a Lugano department store on Tuesday as a known jihadist.
Federal prosecutors have called the incident in the Italian-speaking southern canton of Ticino a suspected terrorist attack and taken charge of the investigation.
“The assailant is know to Fedpol from police investigations in 2017 with a jihadist background,” the Federal Office of Police tweeted.
The suspect, a 28-year-old who lives in the area, was in custody after passersby subdued her until police could arrive. Swiss media cited witnesses as saying she called out that she belonged to jihadist group Islamic State during the attack.
One victim sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and another was lightly injured.

  2. Turkey Releases Grisly Crime Scene Footage Of Khashoggi Killing On 2nd Anniversary
Turkey’s Anadolu Agency has released gruesome never-before-seen footage related to journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder. It is the second anniversary of his killing at the hands of a hit team believed sent by crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018.
No less than 15 men were sent to kill one individual who ran afoul of MbS, which included a bone saw used to dismember his body after he entered the consulate to do paperwork related to his impending marriage, never to be seen again. Now for the first time police footage has been published of Turkish forensics investigators showing up to document what they found following the murder.
The police footage appears to show scattered clothing, as well as fluids on the walls – likely blood – revealed through crime scene UV blacklight.
It also shows a drainage pipe to a sewage area below, likely used to dispose of the remains; however, Khashoggi’s body was never found. A furnace is also featured in the new crime scene footage, suggesting the body or most of the remains were burned and then thrown down the large drain pipe.
Recall that the Turks released to the world a slow drip of damning information meant to put immense pressure on the Saudis over the killing, and which proved politically embarrassing in the weeks and months after the Oct. 2018 murder. It appears they are at it again now with this previously classified crime scene footage.

This campaign is based on a simple premise: If ex-Muslims remain hidden, our persecution also remains invisible.
Despite the persecution of apostates, we at Ex-Muslims of North America know that atheism is rising in the Islamic world, faster than anyone could have imagined. But we also know that even in the West, many apostates hide their lack of faith from their communities and especially from their own family.

Mattis Hopes Biden Won’t Put America First
BY ROBERT SPENCER NOV 24, 2020 3:12 PM ET

It’s an odd statement coming from anyone who was ever in the U.S. government. President Trump’s former Defense Secretary James Mattis has declared, in a Foreign Affairs op-ed co-written with establishment foreign policy wonk Kori Schake, that he hopes a Biden administration won’t put America first. He didn’t say which country he thought a president of the United States should put first instead.

Mattis and Schake wrote: “In January, when President Joe Biden and his national security team begin to reevaluate U.S. foreign policy, we hope they will quickly revise the national security strategy to eliminate ‘America first’ from its contents, restoring in its place the commitment to cooperative security that has served the United States so well for decades.”

This was so important, they asserted, because “in practice, ‘America first’ has meant ‘America alone.’ That has damaged the country’s ability to address problems before they reach U.S. territory and has thus compounded the danger emergent threats pose.”

This is rancid, insidious hogwash. Trump’s travel bans, which Biden has pledged to repeal on his first day in office, are designed to prevent problems from reaching U.S. territory. Biden’s repeal of them will only make Americans more vulnerable. Also, Trump’s America First policy was not “America alone” by any means: the U.S. was instrumental in concluding peace deals between Israel and three of its Arab Muslim neighbors, deals that John Kerry, who will soon be back in a position of power, assured us back in 2016 would be absolutely impossible. Trump has also demanded more responsibility from our allies, asking them to pay more for their own defense.

The only way in which Trump’s America First policy meant “America alone” was insofar as it broke from the internationalist arrangements that have been in place since the end of World War II, to which Mattis and Schake refer as “the commitment to cooperative security that has served the United States so well for decades.”

But if a “commitment to cooperative security” doesn’t involve being able to put one’s national interests first, how is it good for the people of that nation? That question doesn’t apply just to America.

In reality, the president’s primary job is clear from the oath of office that every president recites in order to assume office, and it isn’t to provide “cooperative security” for other countries in the world, or free health care for illegal aliens, or to make sure that Somalia and Afghanistan aren’t riven by civil war, or to make sure America is “diverse.” It is simply this: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Or, to put it even more simply, as Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster explains, the primary job of the president of the United States is to put America first.

Nonetheless, this point is hotly controverted. Trump stated it clearly in his inaugural address on January 20, 2017: “From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this moment on, it’s going to be America First… We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world — but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.”

That was one of the reasons why the elites have hated him with such burning intensity, and had to get him out of office. Someone has to pay for that “cooperative security,” and someone has to be paid, and that means that Trump was threatening some extremely wealthy and powerful interests.

The internationalist elite has reasserted its hegemony and beaten back a serious challenge. And it is not a good sign that in spiking the football after that victory, Mattis makes it abundantly clear that “cooperating with like-minded nations” means putting their interests before our own. No responsible national leader should do that, but of course soon, if the Left’s quest for open borders is successful, nations themselves will be a thing of the past, at least in Europe and North America, as the all-encompassing, authoritarian technostate moves inexorably closer to being put into place.

  5. ‘2021, Islam, We’re Going to Kill You All’: Quran-Carrying Man Arrested After Threats Made on French Tram (breitbart, Nov 25, 2020)

“Police arrested an intoxicated man in Montpellier after he made death threats aboard a tram, telling passengers that in 2021, Islam would kill them all.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm on Friday, November 20th, aboard a line two tram. The 33-year-old man, who was carrying a copy of the Quran, threatened people around him.

“I’m going to kill you, slaughter you, you son of a bitch. You’re going to see in 2021, Islam, we’re going to kill you all,” the suspect said, according to witnesses.

Several passengers then called the police, and two travellers later forced him off the tram near the Place de la Comédie in central Montpellier, Midi Libre reports.

Officers were soon on the scene and took the 33-year-old into custody. As well as the copy of the Quran, they found on the suspect a Swiss army knife, a screwdriver, and a prayer mat.

While in custody, he denied promoting terrorism and said he has only been practising Islam for the past year. His ex-wife told investigators that the man had turned to drugs and alcohol following the death of a relative, but had never been violent in the past.

The incident comes as Islamist threats have heightened in the wake of the country’s two recent terrorist attacks.

The first in Yvelines saw the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty by a teen Chechen refugee after he showed his class copies of the Mohammed cartoons published by Charlie Hebdo. The second occurred in Nice when a radical Islamic migrant from Tunisia killed three in a church.

Since the murder of Paty, the French government has cracked down on Islamist groups, and in response received strong condemnation from the Muslim world, including calls to boycott French products.

As part of his proposal to tackle political Islam, President Macron gave the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) two weeks to sign a “Republican values charter” and to promise to end all practice of Islamism.”

  6. German Police Detain Man Who Drove Car With Anti-Globalist Message Into Gate of Merkel’s Chancellery (sputniknews, Nov 25, 2020)

“The incident comes as the German chancellor was holding a virtual meeting with German state premiers to discuss steps to deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The police have detained a 54-year-old man who crashed into the gate of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office in Berlin, the city’s law enforcement forces said Wednesday. The incident is currently under investigation to establish whether the man’s actions were intentional, the police stated. According to dpa news, one person was injured in the incident.

    November 25, 2020
“The information we have at the moment suggests that the car was moving very slowly so the damage to the gate and the car is not very serious. The motives, whether it is because of the mental state or other motives, are being checked”, the police representative said.

A German interior ministry spokesman said on Wednesday that the detained person had been on the radar of the Berlin authorities as he was involved in a similar incident dating back to 2014.

Photos and videos depicting the situation outside the Chancellery have emerged on Twitter in which a black vehicle with the inscription “You d*mn killers of children and old people” is seen at the gate of Merkel’s office. There is no apparent damage to either the gate or the car.

According to photos by social media users, the other side of the car is inscribed with the phrase “Stop Globalisation Politics”…”

  7. Mine explodes, damaging oil tanker off Saudi Arabia (abcnews, Nov 25, 2020)

“A mine in the Red Sea off the coast of Saudi Arabia near Yemen exploded and damaged an oil tanker Wednesday, authorities said, the latest incident targeting the kingdom amid its long war against Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The blast happened early Wednesday and struck the MT Agrari, a Maltese-flagged, Greek-managed oil tanker near Shuqaiq, Saudi Arabia.

“Their vessel was attacked by an unknown source,” a statement from the Agrari’s operators said. “The Agrari was struck about 1 meter above the waterline and has suffered a breach. It has been confirmed that the crew are safe and there have been no injuries.”

The ship was still floating off the coast and had been boarded by Saudi officials, the company said. Saudi Arabia did not immediately acknowledge the incident.

Ambrey, a British security firm, reported the blast and attributed it to a mine.

The explosion comes after a cruise missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels struck an oil facility in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led coalition reported Tuesday that it removed and destroyed five Iranian-made naval mines planted by the Houthis in the southern Red Sea, condemning the attempted attacks as posing “a serious threat to maritime security in the Bab al-Mandab strait.”

A Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Houthis since March 2015. Houthi military officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.”

  8. Azerbaijani leader vows to revive region ceded by Armenia (abcnews, Nov 25, 2020)

“Azerbaijan’s president vowed Wednesday to rebuild and revive the Kalbajar region, the latest territory that Armenian forces have ceded in a truce that ended six weeks of intense fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh.

“We will restore Kalbajar, let no one have doubts about that, and life will return there,” President Ilham Aliyev said in an address to the nation soon after Azerbaijani troops entered the region.

“I gave an order to prepare a general layout of the reconstruction of the town, and not just the town of Kalbajar, but of all of the towns” in the region, also known as Kalbajar.

Nagorno-Karabakh lies within Azerbaijan but has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since a separatist war there ended in 1994. That war left not only Nagorno-Karabakh itself but substantial surrounding territory in Armenian hands.

Heavy fighting broke out on Sept. 27 and marked the biggest escalation of the decades-old conflict between the two ex-Soviet nations in over a quarter-century, killing hundreds and possibly thousands of people.

A truce brokered by Russia two weeks ago halted the violence after several failed attempts to establish a lasting cease-fire. The agreement stipulated that Armenia hand over control to Azerbaijan of some areas it holds outside Nagorno-Karabakh’s borders…”

  9. 8 migrants die as boat overturns near Spanish island (abcnews, Nov 25, 2020)

“At least eight people died after a migrant boat carrying more than 30 people hit rocks close to a small port on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spanish rescue services said Wednesday.

The boat was one of 17 intercepted in the islands’ waters in the past 24 hours. About 450 people were rescued in the other boats, but one died later.

The Canary Islands emergency service said the Lanzarote boat crashed into pier rocks and overturned in the Orzola area on the north of the island late Tuesday.

Video images showed rescue workers and residents pulling young men in T-shirts from the water in the dark and other migrants sitting on the rocks.

The emergency services said eight bodies from the boat were found and 28 people rescued. They said search operations were continuing for one person believed missing.

In the other incidents, the national rescue service and Civil Guard rescued some 450 people, including women and children, arriving in 16 boats near Gran Canaria island. One person died.

Anselmo Pestana, the central government’s representative on the islands, said the arrivals “generated difficulties but obviously none more painful than to see bodies, people arriving on our coasts dead.”

He said that many possibly didn’t know how to swim, and thanked residents for helping in the rescue.

Officials said the migrants were from northwest African and sub-Saharan countries. Many had set sail from Morocco several days ago.

Many of the rescued were taken to the Arguineguín dock on the southwestern coast of Gran Canaria, where nearly 600 people of different origins are being kept, some in tents. Numbers on the dock rose to more than 2,000 recently.

Spain has promised to set up more tents to accommodate the people arriving.

More than 19,000 people fleeing poverty, violence or other circumstances have arrived in Spain’s Canary Islands this year, a 1,000% increase from the same period in 2019. More than 500 have died in the attempt. Around half of the arrivals — and most of the deaths — have been in the past 30 days, a spike that has strained resources on the archipelago.”

  10. FSB seize explosive device in raids on Islamic State followers in Moscow

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) officers arrested several Islamic State followers who were preparing terrorist attacks in the Moscow region.

During the raids, FSB officers found and seized a homemade explosive device and disarmed it with a robot.

According to the agency, the detained group was engaged in recruiting new members and financing terrorists.

  11. Attack of the Establishment: All Living UK Former Prime Ministers Demand Continued Foreign Aid Spending (breitbart, Nov 25, 2020)

“Five former globalism-backing prime ministers are putting pressure on Boris Johnson to ditch plans to lower the UK’s aid commitment to divert taxpayer money back into the country to counteract the devastation to the British economy caused by the Chinese coronavirus.

It was under Tory David Cameron’s rule that Britain became legally obliged to spend 0.7 per cent of GDP on foreign aid, which was followed by years of reports of misspending of British taxpayers’ money. Cameron had enacted the measures into law in 2015, but it was the fulfilment of the pledge by Tony Blair ten years earlier, based on the target set by the United Nations.

The pledge was retained by his Conservative successors Theresa May and Boris Johnson. But last week, reports circulated that Prime Minister Johnson is considering a temporary cut to 0.5 per cent until 2022 to offset the economic damage of the Wuhan virus.

Since then, the establishment’s former premiers have come out to oppose the plans to alleviate the burden on the beleaguered British people, favouring continued generosity to foreign nations.

Sir John Major, the Conservative who was implicated in the downfall of his predecessor Margaret Thatcher, told The Times on Tuesday that cutting foreign aid was “morally wrong and politically unwise” and claimed the move “damages our soft power” in the world.

“I cannot and do not support it,” said the avid Europhile, who backed the Remain campaign in the 2016 EU membership referendum and has persistently attacked Brexit since.

David Cameron, the Remainer who walked out of the premiership after losing the referendum, and Tony Blair, another Remainer famous for his involvement in the invasion of Iraq and his domestic open borders policies that saw immigration swell at the beginning of the millennium, issued a joint statement last week to condemn the plans.

Both complained that the move would risk “alienating” media-crowned Joe Biden at the next G7 summit to be held in the UK in 2021. However, Anglo-American relations under a presumed Biden presidency would already be soured, with the Democrat’s contempt for Britain recently displayed over his position on Brexit and by snubbing the nation’s broadcaster by refusing to speak to the BBC, claiming: “I’m Irish.”

Mr Cameron also told The Telegraph that prioritising Britons suffering from the fallout of lockdown over “the world’s poorest” would be a “moral” mistake. Mr Blair claimed that giving over billions to nations without meaningful oversight “isn’t about charity. It’s enlightened self-interest.” Blair went on to imply that if the UK cut foreign aid to help its own, it would further destabilise already volatile parts of the world, contributing to mass illegal migration, extremism, and the spread of coronavirus.

Theresa May, the Remain-voting Tory who twice delayed Brexit over parliament’s refusal to pass her soft deal with the EU, is also said to have privately told colleagues she is opposed to the plans.

While Blair’s successor Gordon Brown — who during a hot-mic moment called a senior Briton concerned about immigration a “bigoted woman”, effectively killing the left-wing movement, and widely seen as the first domino to fall in the EU membership debate — again worried about the impact on Britain’s ability to virtue signal around the world.

“If we break these promises, we’re not just breaking promises within our own country, we’re breaking promises that will destroy our reputation across the world,” Mr Brown told Sky News last week.

The Daily Mail in partnership with pressure group the Taxpayers’ Alliance revealed that the UK had given £81 million of Britons’ money in foreign aid to communist China — the world’s second-largest economy and the originator of the coronavirus pandemic.”

  12. He doesn’t get it: Marco Rubio calls Biden national security picks ‘polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline’
    By J.E. Dyer November 25, 2020

Just a few comments on this, as we dangle suspended in the Twilight Zone. Politico published Tuesday on a Marco Rubio tweet about the individuals Joe Biden has listed for his national security team, including Anthony Blinken as secretary of state, Jake Sullivan as national security adviser, and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as U.S. ambassador to the UN.

No one would mistake Rubio’s tweet for an endorsement of Biden’s selections.

  14. Major Channel Migrant Human Trafficking Network Busted in France (breitbart, Nov 25, 2020)

“French police have arrested what is being characterised as a major people-smuggling operation behind many of the small rubber boats that have carried illegal migrants across the English Channel to the UK.

Police arrested six Iraqi and Syrian men during raids in the city of Sin-le-Noble in northern France. The alleged human traffickers are said to have played a “crucial” role in facilitating dozens of illegal boat crossings since at least May.

During the raids, police also seized 14 inflatable boats. Four of the suspects are set to appear in court in Boulogne on Friday.

A source told the British tabloid The Sun: “This was a sophisticated operation and required a painstaking investigation which lasted several weeks.”

“Messages on encrypted phone apps are believed to have revealed the links to Britain. There is information sharing between the UK and the French.

“French police are thought to have used phone taps to help nail them. It’s a major victory but in no way will this bring to an end the problem.”

It is believed that the people smugglers had connections to organised crime gangs in Britain, enabling the traffickers to offer discounted rates for helping the illegal aliens reach the UK in exchange for providing “slave labour” in laundrettes, takeaway restaurants, and cannabis farms owned by the British-based gangs.

In September, a source in Calais claimed that illegal migrants sign a “pact” with traffickers before setting sail for Britain, saying: “It’s in pretty poor conditions. They’re essentially the property of the smuggling gangs and the gangsters in the UK.”

“Someone paying money back through unregulated work is worth much more than the discount,” he added.

The pervasiveness of the modern-day slave trade in the UK was highlighted by a report from the Centre for Social Justice in July. The report estimated that there are some 100,000 people working as slave labourers, with 10,000 alone working in the fast-fashion textile industry in Leicester.

The report went on to confirm that human trafficking operations work in conjunction with organised crime in Britain in order to exploit Middle Eastern and Eastern European migrants, who enter into “debt bondage” before illegally travelling to the UK.

“Human traffickers and Organised Crime Groups are running riot in too many communities. Very few face prosecution relative to the number of victims found and even fewer are convicted. As the number of victims discovered has skyrocketed in the last five years, convictions have barely increased,” the report said.

The arrest of the people-smuggling operation in France comes as over 100 more illegal migrants landed in the UK since the beginning of the week, with around 60 migrants landing on Monday and a further 53 reaching British shores on Tuesday.

Clandestine channel threat commander Dan O’Mahoney trotted out the standard government response to the record waves of migrants, saying the illegals should “claim asylum in the first safe country they reach and not risk their lives by leaving France in a small boat”.

Brexit leader Nigel Farage shared footage of some of the boats crossing the Channel on Tuesday, in what he described as “extremely rough and dangerous conditions”.

“I see no prospect of the government honouring their pledge to stop this illegal trade,” Mr Farage said, questioning: “What is the point in a Conservative government?”…”

  16. Police Head Accused of Racism for Saying Foreign Criminals ‘Do Not Belong’ in Sweden (breitbart, Nov 25, 2020)

“Gothenburg police chief Erik Nord has been labelled a “racist” for commenting on social media that foreign criminals do not belong in Sweden.

Nord made his comments on Twitter last Friday, saying: “Yesterday, we arrested two young men who do not belong in Sweden on suspicion of theft from cyclists (bags, computers from bicycle baskets, and package holders).”

The phrase “do not belong in Sweden” led to criticism from leftist users on Twitter and from Left Party MP Lorena Delgado Varas, Nyheter Idag reported on Saturday.

“This is how a police chief expresses himself in an account he has as part of the [police] service. Whose trust is he trying to get? And is it okay for a police chief to express himself like this? How normalised is racism starting to become?” Varas said.

Nord reacted to criticism from one user, saying: “[They were] two young men from another EU country who probably travelled to Sweden only to commit crimes. Part of what we call the IBN (International Criminal Network).”

“The government has commissioned us to fight them. But you do not think that a police chief should give a statement?!” Nord added.

While many came out to criticise Nord, others praised the Gothenburg police chief. Moderate Party MP Hanif Bali slammed the leftist reaction, stating on Twitter on Saturday: “Today, the left is trying to tell us that it is racist to think that foreign criminals without residence in Sweden do not belong here.”

“Foreign criminals WITH residence in Sweden do not even belong here. Is the Left Party against deportation as a sanction?” he said.

The city of Gothenburg has a growing problem with violence linked to migrant gangs, according to a leaked police intelligence report from September that stated various migrants have clashed in the city centre over the sale of drugs.

“There are regular large violent clashes in central Gothenburg between young Afghans and especially young Syrians, but also Somalis where they fight for good drug sales. There have been several stabbings in connection with these brawls and police have on various occasions found street fighting weapons,” the report said.”

  17. Judge Blocks Certification of Pennsylvania Election Results
    By Ivan Pentchoukov
    November 25, 2020 Updated: November 25, 2020

A Pennsylvania judge on Nov. 25 ordered state officials to not certify the results of the 2020 election until her court holds a hearing on an election contest on Nov. 27.

Commonwealth Judge Patricia McCullough ordered the state to not take any further steps to complete the certification of the presidential race, which the state announced on Nov. 24. She also blocked the certification of all the other election results.

“To the extent that there remains any further action to perfect the certification of the results of the 2020 General Election for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States of America, respondents are preliminarily enjoined from doing so, pending an evidentiary hearing to be held on Friday,” the judge wrote in her order (pdf).

“Respondents are preliminarily enjoined from certifying the remaining results of the election, pending the evidentiary hearing.”

    November 24, 2020 Updated: November 25, 2020

This year’s election had a historically high turnout.

Recently, many Americans haven’t cared so much about elections, thinking there ultimately wasn’t much difference between Republicans and Democrats, or between specific candidates.

However, with the approach of the 2020 election, many people became alarmed. They realized how far our country had strayed from its foundations. If we don’t take ownership now, they thought, it will be beyond repair.

The whole world is watching this election closely. Some Chinese have commented: “We thought China was going to become America. Instead, America is becoming China!”

It is so true. At this point, there are a lot of things we cannot say in America. Political correctness is not a matter of choice; it is a survival skill. If you say one word wrong, you can lose your job. If you don’t follow the mainstream narrative, you will get attacked by the mainstream media. It has reached such an extent that we should ask, do we still have freedom of speech?

This reminds me of China. Fifty years ago in communist China, if you made casual comments about the communists, you would end up in jail or a labor camp.

  19. Nevada Judge Agrees to Hear Evidence of Alleged Voter Fraud
    By Zachary Stieber
    November 25, 2020 Updated: November 25, 2020

A judge in Nevada has agreed to a court date next month to hear from Republicans who allege widespread voter fraud.

First Judicial District Court Judge James Russell set a Dec. 3 evidentiary hearing in the case, which is being presented by President Donald Trump’s campaign.

Up to 15 witnesses may be deposed in the case, the judge said on Tuesday.

“The complaint is kind of a very limited nature, challenging basically the machine used in Clark County,” Russell said, the Nevada Independent reported. Jesse Binnall, a Trump campaign lawyer, said the complaint is “far from the main meat of our challenge” and that evidence will come from deposed witnesses.

“We will have whistleblower testimony showing that overnight, the disks that were used to hold votes would magically have votes appear and reappear on the same desk,” he added.

As one who “seeks not to divide, but to unify,” Joe Biden intoned, “It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, to lower the temperature, to see each other again, to listen to each other again. To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy.” It is, he said, “a time to heal.”

This plea for healing was his first statement following the Associated Press pronouncing him the winner of the presidential election.

  22. Chris Evans, Zach Braff Want A List Of ‘Trump Enablers’

Though some liberals and Democrats have issued genuine calls for unity in the wake of the presidential election, others are out for blood and are keeping a list of Trump enablers.

As noted by Newsbusters, actors Chris Evans (“Captain America”) and Zach Braff (“Garden State”) joined the chorus of prominent leftists wanting to keep track of Trump’s supporters last week.

  23. Obama: It’s Impossible to Have a Democracy if People Disagree With You

The socialist marketplace of ideas has nothing in it.
Wed Nov 25, 2020 Daniel Greenfield

Obama is busy shilling for his book, A Promised Land, for which the American imprint of a subsidiary of a German publishing giant with a Nazi past, is paying him a fortune. And that means sitting down with his favorite shill, The Atlantic’s editor Jeffrey Goldberg, whose book was published by the same giant, for some pseudo-intellectual preening at America’s expense.

As usual, he has deep thoughts about why everyone who disagrees with him needs to shut up.

“The First Amendment doesn’t require private companies to provide a platform for any view that is out there. At the end of the day, we’re going to have to find a combination of government regulations and corporate practices that address this,” Obama fussily declaims.

The corporate practices by Big Tech companies that shut down Biden scandals are already in place. Government regulations to get rid of free speech are new, but not new for Obama.

Obama had become infamous for having the producer of The Innocence of Muslims thrown into prison after the disaster in Benghazi. “We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video,” Hillary Clinton would tell the father of one of the men killed there, as if a YouTube video had killed Americans and then dragged their bodies through the streets of Libya.

  24. If You Worked for the Trump Administration, You’re Not Welcome at Harvard

Young totalitarians now demand that speakers pass their ideological litmus test.
    Wed Nov 25, 2020 Richard L. Cravatts

With the intellectually arrogant but now regular behavior common on university campuses, Harvard students last week circulated an open letter to President Lawrence Bacow and Harvard University deans and leadership proposing that Harvard take proactive measures to prevent Trump administration officials from securing appointments, fellowships, or speaking opportunities on campus.

Clearly indignant at the prospect of someone who worked for an administration they have loathed since inauguration day in 2017, the tendentious students expressed their grave concern “about the impact of the actions of this administration on fundamental democratic institutions.”

Even though these students obviously have found nothing of redeeming value in anything positive the Trump administration may have accomplished, their primary justification for calling for preventing “Harvard [becoming] a temporary home for officials from the outgoing administration” is Trump’s current legal challenge to the November 3rd election and the campaign’s claims that voter fraud and irregularities in many states should be challenged in court. That process, of course, is perfectly legal and is the constitutionally-permitted right of a candidate to launch, especially in an election like this one—with razor thin margins, new voting practices, mail-in balloting as a result of the pandemic, and evidence of blatant fraud and voting irregularities, just as it was in 2000 when the Gore campaign challenged the voting results for 36 days after election day.

  25. Court: Texas, Louisiana can end Planned Parenthood funding

    Canadian Press | Nov 25, 2020 | News | 4

NEW ORLEANS — A federal appeals court ruled Monday that Texas and Louisiana can cut off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood clinics — a move supported by opponents of legal abortion, but opposed by advocates who said it affects a variety of non-abortion health services for low-income women.

The ruling was handed down by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. While it expressly reversed decisions in Texas and Louisiana, it also affects Mississippi, which is under 5th Circuit jurisdiction. The issue is likely to go next to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Opponents of legal abortion have long sought to deny federal Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood clinics.

Abortion rights supporters and advocates for women’s health have argued that the move would reduce access and choice for low-income women seeking cancer screenings, birth control and other non-abortion-related health services — even in states where Planned Parenthood clinics don’t perform abortions.

  26. March Study Points to Pervasive Mental Illness Among White American Liberals

Survey data from a March Pew poll indicates that white liberals disproportionately suffer from mental illness.

Nearly half of self-identifying white liberals between the ages of 18 and 29 reported telling a doctor or a healthcare provider that they have a mental health condition.

Only 20.9% of white conservatives in the same category reported as such.

  27. Democrat Black Farmers Bill Would Give Away $8 Billion of Land Yearly in Reparations Program

    South Africa-style land redistribution?

Democrat Senators are touting new legislation that would purchase national farmland and give it away to Black Americans for free.

Democrats Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Elizabeth Warren are sponsoring the the Justice for Black Farmers Act, which seems likely to be the most wide-ranging affirmative action program ever enacted if it’s signed into law. It’s not inaccurate to call the bill a reparations program.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel Threatens Election Fraud Whistleblowers with Prosecution

She is doubling down on her war against the 1st Amendment.

Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel has issued an ominous threat to whistleblowers against electoral fraud in her state: Shut up, or potentially be prosecuted.

She responded to former state senator Patrick Colbeck’s whistleblower testimony. Colbeck was on the floor as tens of thousands of mystery ballots were delivered to the absentee voter counting board in Detroit on election night.

Nessel made the comment that whistleblowers may be prosecuted for a crime if they come forward to authorities. Colbeck has not gone to Nessel, who has threatened to prosecute Republican leaders who refuse to certify the fraudulent vote before an investigation, with his first-hand testimony.

“I can confirm that Patrick Colbeck has never made a complaint of election fraud to the Michigan Dept of Attorney General. If he had, we would have fully investigated said claim,” she wrote in tweet.

    • I think this is called witness tampering and obstruction of justice, now the problem is to find a prosecutor who will take the case.

  29. Paul Ryan surfaces to say the election is over; WI recount continues and a lawsuit is filed

    Milwaukee Journal Sentinel | Nov 25, 2020 | News | 23

Nearly 400 uncounted absentee ballots from Milwaukee were found in the recount Tuesday as a conservative group asked the state Supreme Court to let Republicans who control the Legislature decide how to cast Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes.

The last-minute lawsuit was filed by the Wisconsin Voters Alliance, a group that got no traction with litigation in federal court before the election. The state’s high court asked for additional briefing as it decides whether to take up the new case.

The 386 absentee ballot envelopes from a ward on Milwaukee’s south side were not opened – and the ballots were not counted – on Election Day due to “human error” at Milwaukee’s central count operation, said Claire Woodall-Vogg, executive director of the Milwaukee Election Commission.

The ballots discovered at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee still would not be enough to change the outcome of Wisconsin’s presidential election, which Democrat Joe Biden won by about 20,600 votes.

  30. Pennsylvania Bans Alcohol Sales in Bars, Restaurants on Thanksgiving Eve
    By Gary Du
    November 24, 2020 Updated: November 25, 2020

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Pennsylvania officials announced a one-day ban on alcohol sales in bars and restaurants starting Wednesday.

The ban will be in effect from 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve through 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, said in a statement Monday. People still can purchase beer, wine, and spirits at stores.

Wolf said the measure is meant to “specifically address large crowds” and to limit “limiting congregation in bars and restaurants, which has been repeatedly shown to spread the virus.”

Bars and restaurants can normally serve alcohol until 11 p.m. The new one-day rule will reduce the onsite purchase time by six hours.

Officials also announced that indoor events are limited to less than 500 individuals while outdoor events are limited to 5 percent capacity up to 2,500 people.

  31. Four Chadian Soldiers Killed in Lake Chad Blast

“Four soldiers deployed to Lake Chad were killed when a mine set by jihadists blew up their boat, Chadian sources said on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Tuesday in the vast, marshy lakelands, where Chadian forces are battling a years-long jihadist insurgency, they said.

“Boko Haram placed an improvised device in the water, which exploded when their canoe passed by, killing four soldiers and wounding about 20 others,” an army officer told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Dimoya Souapebe, the prefect (state representative) for the region confirmed the toll, and said the canoe, also called a pirogue, had been transporting troops between Ngouboua and Litri.

Chad, along with Niger and Cameroon, is struggling with a jihadist campaign that Boko Haram launched in northeastern Nigeria in 2009 and then took into the wider Lake Chad region.

More than 36,000 people, most of them in Nigeria, have been killed and some three million have fled their homes, according to UN figures.

The lake’s marshland, dotted with islands, is used as a refuge by the jihadists.

Chadian officials typically make no distinction between Boko Haram and a dissident group, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), in their reference to the jihadists.

Six Chadian soldiers were killed in an ambush in the Lake Chad region on October 20.”

  32. End of Trumpism Proof of Iran’s Victory: President

“Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani described the termination of “Trumpism” as a testimony to the Iranian nation’s victory in an economic war imposed by the US government.

Speaking at a cabinet session on Wednesday, Rouhani praised the Iranian people for withstanding the economic war that the administration of outgoing US President Donald Trump intensified over the past three years.

“One of the major signs of the Iranian nation’s victory and the definite and certain defeat of the enemy in this economic war is an end to the era of Trumpism,” he added.

The president also urged the next US administration to make up for its predecessor’s mistakes and all wrong measures that have harmed the US image in the world.

“We hope that the next US administration would in the first step condemn Trump’s policies on Iran as well as his anti-human rights and terrorist measures explicitly, and would make up for the wrong policies that the (current US) administration has adopted over the past four years,” Rouhani added.

Iran’s policies are absolutely clear, the president said, reiterating that Tehran believes in commitment in return for commitment, action vis-? -vis action, de-escalation in return for de-escalation, mutual respect, and equal implementation of international commitments.

“If the next American statesmen have such a determination, I think settlement of the problem will be quite easy.”

Rouhani stressed that Washington’s return to the situation before inauguration of Trump as the US president would offer a “major solution to many problems”, change the conditions, and allow for the start of the next stages in various sectors.

In remarks a few weeks ago, Rouhani said the next American administration will have no option but to surrender to the Iranian nation, regardless of who would win the US presidential battle.

The Iranian administration has already made it clear that its political and economic decisions do not hinge on the US policies.”

  33. Military Action on Iran Off the Table: IRGC Chief

“The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps ruled out the possibility of a war against Iran, saying the enemy has become disappointed with military action on the Islamic Republic.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Major General Hossein Salami said the enemy has lost hope in the possibility of harming the Islamic Republic’s establishment physically.

Military war on Iran has been dropped off the enemy’s list of options, the commander said, adding that the adversaries have instead targeted the Iranian people, their religion and their livelihood.

Major General Salami also highlighted the role of Basij forces in safeguarding the Islamic Republic’s values, saying Iran’s resistance has led to the decline and downfall of the enemy.

In a speech to the Parliament in September, the IRGC commander said the US is unable to take military action against Iran and warned that reconciliation would not stop the US from trying to harm the country.

General Salami said there is no possibility of a US war against Iran, since the road to military action on the country is closed. “We have prepared the capacities for military victory over the enemy, and have sometimes imposed our tactical resolve on them.””

  34. Leader: Enemies Seeking to Dismantle Basij in Iran

“Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei lauded Iran’s Basij (mobilization) Force as a great asset that the enemies seek to destroy.

In a message on the anniversary of formation of Basij, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed it as a major and stellar legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, a symbol of national might, and an exhibition of piety, insight and endeavor.

“Basij is the Iranian nation’s great asset and God-given backup,” the Leader said in the message, read by the head of his military office, Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi, in a Wednesday videoconference with the Basij commanders.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the enemies of Iran have always attempted to dismantle or nullify the Basij force, urging Basij members to thwart the enemies’ plots through reliance on God and planning.

The Leader also highlighted the great contribution that Basij has made to protecting Iran’s independence and stability, saying Basij is a reputable organization in the scientific and technological activities coupled with spiritual values, responsibility and self-confidence.

Basij is a paramilitary voluntary force established in 1979 on Imam Khomeini’s order.

The force consists of often young Iranians, who have volunteered, with a strong sense of fidelity to both the Islamic system and religious beliefs.”

  35. Rights Groups Urge UK to End Saudi, UAE Arms Sales

“Two human rights groups called on Britain to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in light of their ongoing aggression against Yemen.

A joint report issued recently by Sam for Rights and Liberties (a Yemeni non-governmental organization based in Geneva) and FSPD (a British non-governmental organization) said, “The United Kingdom should listen to calls by international organizations (such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch in previous statements) to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.”

The statement pointed out that “Saudi purchases accounted for 41 percent of the total of British arms exports between 2010 and 2019, while the UK secures 19 percent of Saudi Arabia’s arms imports.”

“Based on data provided by arms ban campaigners, the total value of British export licenses of military products to Saudi Arabia since the start of the bombing in Yemen amounts to £5.4 billion ($7.20 billion), however, the real value of weapons exports is not less than £16 billion ($21.34 billion),” the statement explained, the Middle East Monitor reported.

According to the report, the arms exports of British companies include, “aircraft, helicopters, drones, hardware, and defense-related products, worth £3 billion, in addition to £2.5 billion worth of bombs, missiles, and grenades.”

The Saudi-led coalition invaded Yemen in 2015. Since then, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).”

  36. Russia Says it Thwarted ISIS Attacks in Moscow Region

“Russia’s Federal Security Service said on Wednesday it had thwarted “terror” attacks planned by ISIS in the Moscow region, uncovering and breaking up a militant cell, the RIA news agency said.

Security officers detained one person and seized a home-made bomb, the FSB was quoted as saying.”

  37. US Envoy to Iran Says More Sanctions Coming, Urges Biden to Maintain Leverage

“The Trump administration plans to tighten sanctions on Tehran during its final months in power, the top US envoy on Iran said on Wednesday, as he urged President-elect Joe Biden to use the leverage to press for a deal that reduces the regional and nuclear threats posed by the Islamic Republic.

US Special Envoy for Iran Elliott Abrams, praising Biden’s National Security Adviser and nominee for Secretary of State as “terrific people”, cautioned against repeating what he saw as former President Barack Obama’s mistakes in negotiating the 2015 nuclear deal. President Donald Trump left that deal unilaterally two years ago.

Biden, set to take office on Jan. 20, has said he will return the United States to the Obama-era deal if Iran resumes compliance.

Abrams, at a virtual Beirut Institute event, said the Trump administration plans further pressure on Tehran, with sanctions related to arms, weapons of mass destruction and human rights.

“We will have next week, and the week after, and the week after – all through December and January, there will be sanctions that deal with arms, that deal with weapons of mass destruction, that deal with human rights. … So this will continue on for another couple of months, right until the end,” Abrams said.

Abrams said he expects a negotiation to take place with Iran next year and that he believes a deal will be struck under the Biden administration.

“We think the Biden administration has a great opportunity because there is so much leverage on Iran through the sanctions,” Abrams said, adding he sees an opportunity to work with France, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as allies in the region, to strike a deal that addresses both missile and regional threats from Iran.

“If we discard the leverage we have, it would really be tragic and foolish. But if we use it there is a chance I think for constructive agreement that addresses all of these problems,” he added.

He said it would be wrong to assume the new administration could reverse Iran policy like switching a light, and said negotiations would take many months.

Iran’s clerical rulers have ruled out negotiations over its missile program or changing its regional policy. Instead it wants a change in US policy, including the lifting of sanctions.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have risen since Trump abandoned Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear deal, and restored harsh economic sanctions to pressure Tehran to negotiate deeper curbs on its nuclear program, ballistic missile development and support for regional proxy forces.

Abrams on Wednesday announced Iran-related sanctions on four entities in China and Russia, accusing them of activities promoting Iran’s missile program.”
