Reader’s Links for October 20, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  4. Hunter Biden’s jailed former business partner flipped & leaked 26,000 emails

Rep. Adam Schiff can baselessly claim the newly released emails between Hunter Biden and his former business partners are part of some Russian disinformation campaign, but it’s a last-ditch effort to manipulate voters from the truth. Reporters who followed Biden’s corruption for years now say those business partners are ready to flip on Hunter to show how corrupt the Biden family is. According to author of “Profiles in Corruption,” Peter Schweizer, thousands of emails from the recently-obtained hard drive — allegedly from Hunter Biden’s laptop — could be proof Joe Biden was a part of one of the biggest scandals in modern American politics. Glenn and his head researcher, Jason Buttrill, discuss the new details in the developing story.

  5. Only the first few seconds of this video is relevant, so, admittedly, I did not watch the thing.

It is a CTV report, showing a woman panting, on a ventilator, supposedly on her death bed on hospital with the Wuhan flu, begging the person who is recording the video go go home and ‘be with mom’ because she really needs the support.

And she is wearing the most flawless makeup, with perfectly applied foundation which is, in my never-humble-opinion, set with powder.

I wonder how skillful she must be to have achieved such a high quality makeup with the ventilator on…

    • This is the same type of account that occurred at my law firm. An older associate (50+) wrote email to the entire firm that she stated “was not political” telling us of a friend of her husband who works one block from us died from COVID at 46 years old. Same old canard that “Jamie didn’t take COVID seriously” and we were told of another 4 people who died who were under 50. Totally BS democrat fear mongering to keep the fear alive in LA.

    • Maybe, just maybe, lol she is so damn vain she called the mortician to come and make her look “good”. CTV is also on its death bed and now everyone should know why. What absolute irresponsible horse pucky!

  11. More than 7,500 migrants have crossed the Channel this year: Record total is now four times the figure for 2019 after 100 refugees risked dangerous journey on Monday (daailymail, Oct 20, 2020)

“More than 7,500 migrants have now crossed the Channel this year – more than four times the number in 2019 – after another 100 people risked the dangerous journey yesterday.

Border Force separated seven separate boats on Monday, just a day after a man was found washed up on the beach at Sangatte near Calais.

People traffickers are fuelling the rise in crossings, with criminals hiring French fishing boat crews to carry desperate migrants halfway across the Channel to evade military drones.

Once in open water, asylum seekers clamber into pre-inflated dinghies held in the fishing boat to complete the rest of the perilous 21-mile crossing, reports suggest.

Monday saw the second highest number crossings this month after Saturday, when there were 170.

Since Saturday the French have prevented more than 550 people from making the trip, and the arrival of Storm Barbara is expected to force smugglers to postpone crossings for now until another break in the weather.

In total, 7,532 migrants have now attempted to make the perilous crossing across the English Channel this year compared to just 1,850 in 2019.

In September alone 1,954 made the crossing in small boats. So far this month, 403 migrants have been detained.

Immigration minister Chris Philp said: ‘Yesterday’s tragic loss of life in France is a stark reminder of the perilous journey migrants face in the Channel.

‘This is why we doing all we can to stop these crossings and make this route unviable, including by tracking down the criminal gangs who are risking vulnerable people’s lives for profit.

‘Last week the Home Office and National Crime Agency made 12 arrests of individuals involved in people smuggling and illegal entry – and there will be more in the coming weeks and months.’

Mr Philp said British officials were working with the French to seize the people smugglers’ boats.

He added: ‘These journeys are not only dangerous and illegal but also unnecessary. France is a safe country with a well-functioning asylum system and there is no need to leave France by small boat.

‘We are committed to fixing the asylum system, to make it fairer and firmer, compassionate to those who need help and welcoming people through safe and legal routes.'”

  13. Pupils in Paris No-Go Suburbs Cheered Burning of French Flags in Response to Mohammed Cartoons (breitbart, Oct 20, 2020)

“Pupils in the Paris suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis allegedly cheered footage of Pakistanis burning French flags in response to Charlie Hebdo republishing the Mohammed cartoons.

Teacher Jean-Baptiste Jorda claimed that one of his classes at a high school in the heavily migrant-populated Seine-Saint-Denis district outside Paris reacted with anger after being shown images of Mohammed that were published by Charlie Hebdo.

“They exploded,” he said, according to French magazine Marianne, and added: “They immediately insulted the newspaper. Some even said they wanted blasphemy to be banned by law.”

Jorda went on to show the pupils a video taken in September of people in Pakistan burning French flags in response to the republishing of the Mohammed cartoons to teach them about intolerance.

“I thought it would make them think, but most of the pupils stood up and applauded,” he said.

“Their big argument is the so-called double standard they present by comparing incomparable things,” Jorda said. “For example, they do not understand that criticism of the prophet of Muslims may be allowed while doubting the Holocaust is not.”

The pupils, according to Jorda, view Charlie Hebdo as part of the “far-right” and said: “So, to fight back, all means are legitimate. Insults, as well as violence. To challenge them on this issue is to side with the ‘racists’.”

A Chechen Islamic extremist teen murdered Samuel Paty last week after the teacher showed his class the Mohammed cartoons which had previously inspired the 2015 terrorist attack on the officers of Charlie Hebdo, leaving a dozen dead.

French President Emmanuel Macron labelled the murder of Paty, who was beheaded in the street, an Islamist terror attack. President Macron said: “Our compatriot was cowardly attacked and was the victim of an Islamist terrorist attack.”

“It’s not a coincidence if tonight a teacher was struck, because the terrorist wanted to attack the values of the public, its light, the possibility to make our children, no matter where they come from, no matter what they believe or not believe, no matter what their religion is, to make them free citizens,” he said.”

  14. Actually, ‘Laptopgate’ bears little resemblance to a ‘classic Russian info op’
    By J.E. Dyer October 20, 2020

On Monday, 50 current and former U.S. intelligence officials signed on to a “Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails,” in which they assert that “the arrival on the US political scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” (H/t: Breitbart, Politico)

The problem with their communication is that, as classic Russian information operations go, this one misses the mark by a lot.

For one thing, if it were an info op, it would be very awkwardly conceived – for any purpose, classic or otherwise. Its impact seems to depend on a “going public” moment that was brokered by a random computer repair dude in a storefront shop, who happened to find the emails on a laptop left unclaimed for over 90 days.

Unless the intel officials are proposing to complicate the narrative by making this guy a Russian agent – a really irresponsible thing to do to him, considering there’s no evidence for that – you don’t get from Point A to Point B in this info op on a timeline the Russians could control.

  15. Beheading blowback | Ordinary French Muslims are afraid of police raids

A mosque in France has expressed regret for sharing a video that is believed to have provoked the gruesome murder of a history and geography teacher.

The country’s interior minister has demanded that it be closed down.

The teacher, SamuelPaty, was beheaded last week after he showed his class a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed as part of a lesson on freedom of expression.

Police shot and killed the suspect Abdullakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old Chechen refugee, in a standoff following the grisly attack.

The murder, which occurred in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, shook France, triggering demonstrations and a government crackdown against Islamic extremism in the country.

  16. MEMRI – Qatari Sociologist: Samuel Paty’s Murder May Have Been Orchestrated Like 9/11

Qatari sociologist Abd Al-Aziz Al-Khazraj Al-Ansari said in a video he uploaded to his YouTube channel on October 18, 2020 that the recent murder and beheading of history teacher Samuel Paty in Paris may have been a “fabrication,” similar to how the 9/11 attacks had been “orchestrated” to distort the reputation of Islam.

He said that the Chechen killer may have been paid to carry out this attack, and that Paty may have even been paid to insult the Prophet Muhammad.

Al-Ansari further said that while he condemns the murder, killings and stabbings are “normal reactions” to attacks against the Prophet Muhammad.

He also said that Muslim ambassadors to France should be recalled and that French President Emmanuel Macron should be told that France’s freedom of speech laws are “stupid.”

A mosque in a Paris suburb is being closed for six months starting Wednesday night on orders from France’s interior minister in a crackdown following the beheading last week of a teacher.

President Emmanuel Macron is increasingly concerned by what he calls Islamist separatism: the attempt by elements within France’s large Muslim community to impose conservative Islamic beliefs over the traditional values of the French Republic in some communities.

    • France Closes Paris Mosque, Raids Militant Networks in Terror Crackdown Following Teacher’s Murder (sputniknews, Oct 20, 2020)

“National Rally leader Marine Le Pen, who could face French President Emmanuel Macron in a 2022 presidential election – has called for “wartime legislation” and an immediate moratorium on immigration. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron has promised that “fear is about to change sides” in a new anti-radical campaign.

French authorities are to close the Grand Mosque de Pantin as part of a clampdown on radical teaching that has seen 15 arrests following the murder of high school teacher Samuel Paty after he showed his pupils a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed.

The Mosque in Pantin, northeast of Paris, had reportedly published a video on its Facebook page days before Friday’s murder, complaining about Paty’s choice of material for a class discussion on freedom of expression.

The interior ministry said the mosque in Pantin, which is believed to have a congregation of around 1,500, would be shut on Wednesday night for six months.

The move comes after French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Monday that there would be “not a minute’s respite for enemies of the Republic”.

Darmanin had asked regional authorities to carry out the mosque closure while police have launched a series of raids targeting miilitant networks.

Paty, 47, was attacked on his way home from the junior high school where he taught in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris. A photo of the teacher and a message confessing to his murder was found on the mobile phone of his killer, 18-year-old Abdullakh Anzorov.

The murder was foreshadowed by a fierce online campaign against Paty and the school, led by the father of a schoolgirl who accused the teacher of disseminating “pornography” for showing an indecent cartoon of the prophet. The school said Paty had given Muslim pupils the choice to leave the classroom, but the lesson nevertheless caused an uproar.

The father who posted the video shared by the Pantin mosque is among 15 people arrested after the killing. Darmanin accused the father and the radical of having issued a “fatwa” against the teacher.

The head of the Pantin mosque, M’hammed Henniche, said he had shared the video not to “validate” the complaint about the cartoon, but out of concern for Muslim children being singled out in class.

Four pupils suspected of accepting payment for pointing Paty out to his killer are also in custody.

Tens of thousands of people took part in rallies across France on Sunday to honor Paty and defend freedom of expression.

Darmanin vowed the government would also tighten its grip on charities with suspected links to the militant networks. The killing has drawn parallels with the 2015 massacre at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where 12 people, including cartoonists, were murdered for publishing cartoons of the prophet.

The education minister, Jean-Michel Blanquer, said on Tuesday that Paty would be posthumously awarded France’s highest award, the Légion d’Honneur. A national ceremony will be held in his honour at the Sorbonne University in Paris on Wednesday.”

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday the dissolution of a pro-Hamas group active in France, accused of being “directly implicated” in the murder of history and geography teacher Samuel Paty.

Speaking several days after the shocking incident, the French leader said that “actions will be stepped up” against Islamist extremism.

Insulting Religions Provokes Hatred: Al-Azhar Grand Imam

The grand imam of Al-Azhar condemned the beheading of a French teacher but said insulting religions in the name of free speech was an “invitation to hatred,” in a speech read out on Tuesday.

The address written by Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb of Egypt’s prestigious Sunni Islamic institution was read out in Rome’s Capitol Square in front of a gathering of Christian, Jewish and Buddhist leaders including Pope Francis and France’s Chief Rabbi Haim Korsia.

They had come together to sign a joint call for peace.

“As a Muslim and the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, I declare that Islam, its teachings and its Prophet are innocent of this wicked terrorist crime,” Tayeb said in his speech, referring to the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty on Friday.

“At the same time, I emphasise that insulting religions and attacking their sacred symbols under the banner of freedom of expression is an intellectual double standard and an open invitation to hatred.”

Paty, 47, was attacked and killed by an 18-year-old Chechen on his way home from the junior high school where he taught in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, near Paris.

He had shown his pupils cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, infuriating one father who led an online campaign against the teacher and was in contact with the killer in the lead-up to the crime, an investigation revealed.

The killer, Abdullakh Anzorov, posted images of the decapitated body on Twitter before he was shot dead by police.

“This terrorist doesn’t speak for the religion of the Prophet Mohammed any more than the terrorist in New Zealand who killed Muslims in the mosque spoke for the religion of Jesus,” Tayeb said in his speech.

Police have arrested 16 people, including a known Islamist radical and four members of Anzorov’s family.

On Monday, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said the radical and the father had in effect issued a “fatwa” against the teacher.

Al-Azhar, one of the world’s leading Islamic seats of learning, had in September condemned French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo’s decision to reprint cartoons of Prophet Mohammed, as a trial opened over the 2015 terror attack on its Paris office.

In February 2019, Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb signed a document on “human fraternity for world peace” condemning religious extremism and support to terrorists.

  20. TURKISH RADIO & TELEVISION – TRT – Macron uses anti-Muslim rhetoric to ‘cover up’ failures – Erdogan

“Islamic and anti-Muslim discourses are today the most useful apparatus used by Western politicians to cover up their failures,” Erdogan said in a speech today

    • Erdogan Slams Macron’s Islam Reform as Attempt to ‘Settle Old Scores’ With Muslims (sputniknews, Oct 20, 2020)

“French President Emmanuel Macron’s initiatives to reform Islamic institutions in the country are nothing but an attempt to attack Muslims, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday in his speech recorded for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit.

Following the killing of a French teacher by a Chechen teenager last week, a draft law that seeks to prohibit justification of crime with ethnic or religious motives on constitutional grounds was submitted to the French Senate.

According to Macron, who has coined the term “Islamic separatism” and criticized manifestations of extremism on religious grounds, ideology should not claim that its own laws should be superior to those of the republic.

“The main goal of such initiatives led by Macron is to settle old scores with Islam and Muslims,” Erdogan said, as quoted by the Turkish Daily Sabah newspaper.
According to the Turkish leader, those who are concerned with the rise of Islam create crises that they use as an excuse to attack Islam and cover up their own failures.

The bill was unveiled back on 2 October, weeks before the tragedy in one of Paris suburbs took place and sparked a new wave of anti-Islamist sentiments across France. Macron said the bill would imply the mandatory rule of neutrality for employees of public service companies that they must follow while performing their work to avoid manifestations of separatism.

In addition, it provides the state with the power to step in if local authorities make unacceptable concessions to Muslims and restricts homeschooling to avoid having children “indoctrinated.” The bill also tightens control over foreign influence on Islam and funding for mosques, and promotes the domestic training of imams.

The bill triggered a strong backlash from the Muslim community in France — the largest in Europe — which decried the bill as Islamophobic and discriminatory.

France’s policy toward Muslims is not the only stumbling block in relations between Macron and Erdogan. The leaders have been criticizing each other over the last several months, as the countries’ interests collided in the Eastern Mediterranean. Tensions have been high in the region in connection with Ankara’s drilling activities in Greece-claimed waters.”

    • In the video it is reported that in a communication with Taiwan the Mainland used the phrase “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” they are suppose to have put this phrase in diplomatic communications with India, Nam and the Soviet Union before they went to war with them.

Yes they had several border clashes with the Soviets.

Combine this phrase with the military buildup across the straits from Taiwan, the economic crisis on the Mainland, the public unrest and the probability that there will be chaos in the US after the election.

    • This depends on who is elected and what happens after the election, if Biden is elected they will wait until he takes office. If (as I expect) they will wait and see how much chaos and internal conflict their allies in the Us can create, if it is a very large amount they will invade Taiwan counting on the other members of the Quad to hesitate to move without US backing. although Japan and Australia may think they have no choice but to attack while China is busy with Taiwan instead of waiting until China feels strong enough to attack them.

In the 1930s Hitler threatened and bullied Europe and got European permission to take over Czechoslovakia to let Germany protect the ethnic Germans and give them living room. 132 There are only so many ways that media and social media companies can avoid saying, “We refuse to run this story or allow it to be seen by any human being because it might hurt Biden.”

First they claimed that it was unverified, a problem that never troubled the same papers and news networks which had spent years claiming that President Trump was a Russian agent.

After arguing that the story is unethical because it contains stolen materials, a scruple that the media had never previously exercised when it gleefully rushed to dig through everything from Sarah Palin’s email account to President Trump’s tax returns, they defaulted to Russia.

Hunter Biden’s laptop is, the media and social media companies insist, a Russian operation.

What’s the evidence for the Biden laptop being a Russian operation? About the same as the evidence that Trump is a Russian agent. Or, as the media might politely call it, “unverified”.

“Clearly, the origins of this whole smear are from the Kremlin, and the president is only happy to have Kremlin help in trying to amplify it,” Rep. Adam Schiff claimed, “I think we know who the driving force behind this smear has been all along, and it’s been the president and the Kremlin. The Kremlin has an obvious interest in denigrating Joe Biden.”
