Reader’s Links for September 28, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. ‘Doesn’t Belong Here’: Danish Prime Minister Lashes Out Against Sharia Law in Parallel Societies (sputniknews, Sep 28, 2020′

“As previous surveys have indicated, nearly four out of ten Danish Muslims would like to have the country’s laws at least partly based on Sharia law, and over 10 percent even said Denmark’s laws should be solely based on Sharia.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has strongly denounced recent examples of Sharia law practised by certain imams in the country.

Among others things, controversial imam Abu Bashar (civil name Mohamad Al-Khaled Samha) from the city of Odense has demanded than women sign divorce contracts, which is contrary to Danish law. According to them, a woman loses custody of her children if she remarries or behaves in a way that “violates her own or her family’s honour”, and additionally must provide her husband with money to obtain a divorce.

Odense Mayor Peter Rahbæk Juel was shocked and distressed by the news.

“It is psychological violence, carried out by means of Sharia law. It’s unacceptable, and it hurts my stomach to read these things”, he told the newspaper Berlingske, calling this a “wake-up call” about the situation in parallel societies.

The imam was subsequently reported to the police for psychological violence, which is punishable by up to three years in prison. The extent of similar arrangements bypassing Danish law remains unknown.

Juel expressed hope that strong action will send “a clear societal signal to imams and preachers who practise Sharia law that it is punishable in Denmark”.

Frederiksen issued a stern condemnation, stressing that Sharia “doesn’t belong in Denmark”.

“It is wrong. It is oppressive of women. It is not Danish. And it must never, ever become Danish”, Frederiksen wrote in a Facebook post.

Furthermore, Frederiksen pledged that the government will do “everything in its power to stop this”.

“An imam should not interfere in divorce at all. It is only a choice to be made by the two persons who in their time entered into the marriage. Nobody else. This confirms our fearful suspicions about the undemocratic tendencies that exist in parts of Denmark”, Frederiksen wrote.

Previous surveys in the country indicated that four out of ten Danish Muslims would like to have laws at least partly based on Sharia law, and over 10 percent even said the nation’s laws should be solely based on Sharia.

A more recent report by the Danish Justice Ministry found that nearly eight out of ten Danish Muslims would like to make criticism of Islam illegal, as opposed to merely 18 percent of the general population.

Islam is Denmark’s largest minority religion at over 300,000 Muslims, or 5.4 percent of the total population.”

  2. Church of Sweden in Hot Water for Defending ‘Islamist-Linked’ Charity (sputniknews, Sep 28, 2020)

“Many, including Sweden’s own Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), have linked Islamic Relief, the world’s largest independent charity organisation based on Islamic values, to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist network banned in many countries, including Russia.

The Church of Sweden has received strong criticism after defending an organisation allegedly linked to Islamists on Twitter, prompting many to threaten to leave the church.

The background to the criticism is the collaboration between the Church of Sweden and the charity organisation Islamic Relief, which many, including Sweden’s own Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), have linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organisation banned in many countries.

While this admitted collaboration triggered a backlash, the Church of Sweden stuck to its guns on Twitter, claiming there was no scientific support for the Islamist connection, suggesting that the Muslim Brotherhood’s presence in Sweden wasn’t sufficiently documented.

“There are no studies that can show that the Muslim Brotherhood has an organisation in Sweden structured as the Egyptian parent organisation with ‘families’ as a base and a leader at the top to whom all members swear an oath of allegiance”, the Church of Sweden tweeted, unleashing a new wave of criticism.

?”We as a Church have no official standpoint about the Muslim Brotherhood. Likewise with other organisations. What we do have a standpoint about is the organisations we collaborate with”, the Church said in a later-deleted tweet.

?”That statement is not true. Aje Carlbom has released a scientific report to the MSB, where all the connections are established. In addition, we have written a number of articles where we provide facts about what the connections look like”, Magnus Ranstorp, Sweden’s leading terrorism researcher, tweeted.

?”Stop talking nonsense. The Muslim Brotherhood association exists and has been substantiated, it is clear in the MSB report. The fact that the Church of Sweden seems to believe in a homemade explanation for defending an Islamist terrorist group is rather depressing”, blogger Christer Sfeir tweeted. “In addition, the Brotherhood has no party books but membership is given orally through an oath of allegiance, the cells are minimal, and loosely connected, which makes mapping difficult in the legal sense”, he added.

?”The German Bundestag and the French Senate have recently released reports supporting this. The French Senate engaged 60 experts in the field of Islam, Islamism, terrorism, Arabism, etc”, the liberal-conservative portal Ledarsidorna tweeted.

?Many users voiced their extreme displeasure and desire to leave the church.

“Well now I’m leaving the Church of Sweden, do not want to contribute to this rubbish”, a rather typical reply said.

“Can you leave the Church of Sweden again? Kind of confirm that you have left?”, another one said sarcastically.

?”You’re digging your own grave. Nice that I left many years ago”, another one chimed in.

    ?Who is Who
Islamic Relief is an international aid agency that provides humanitarian relief and development programmes in over 40 countries. Founded in 1984 in the UK, it has international headquarters in Birmingham and a network of national offices, affiliated partners, and field offices spanning 50 countries. With an annual income of $164 million, it is billed as the largest independent international aid agency inspired by Islamic humanitarian values.

However, its reputation is not uncontroversial, and includes anti-Semitic remarks and allegations of funding Hamas. Previously, the United Arab Emirates placed Islamic Relief on a list of proscribed organisations due to alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood. Allegations of “personal ties” with the Muslim Brotherhood were subsequently put forward by the German government. The organisation itself denied the allegations, stressing its neutral stance and humanitarian nature.

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in 1928 and has since fledged into a pan-Islamic organisation with over a million members in 70 countries. It is regarded as a terrorist organisation in many countries, including Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. In Sweden, the organisation has been active since the late 1970s.

The Church of Sweden is known for its overtly liberal position in many theological issues, such as the question of homosexuality, as well as broad involvement in secular issues, like helping immigrants and other groups it considers to be vulnerable, and promotes inclusivity. Openly lesbian bishop Eva Brunne previously made headlines by proposing to replace the crucifix on the Seamen’s Church in Stockholm with an arrow pointing towards Mecca to signal the Church’s inclusivity. She also said she had more in common with Muslims than the so-called Christian right.”

  3. Cyprus erupts at EU as it furiously slates Brussels over lack of sanctions on Turkey (express, Sep 28, 2020)

“CYPRUS has hit out at the EU fearing there will be no measures secured against Turkey over maritime claims at an upcoming summit.

Turkey began drilling for oil and gas near Cyprus last year despite warnings from Brussels, amid broader fears of a military escalation in the eastern Mediterranean. Greece and Turkey are NATO allies but have been estranged for years over naval drills held in the area.

Cypriot diplomats now fear EU diplomats and officials are unlikely to follow through on a threat to impose sanctions on Turkey at the summit on October 1 and 2.

Cyprus is blocking EU sanctions on Belarus as a result until the bloc takes a tougher stance towards Ankara.

Ahead of the summit, a diplomatic source told the Sunday Mail Nicosia: “The most you’ll get is a statement dressed up in generic lingo, something to the effect the EU calls on all parties to engage in dialogue and refrain from raising tensions in the eastern Mediterranean.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added: “In this case, it was unrealistic to expect France – despite Macron’s strong anti-Turkey rhetoric – to push it too far.

“And Greece softened its stance once it and Turkey agreed to hold talks on their own maritime disputes.

“So yes, Nicosia did have a strategy to incur a cost on Turkey for its violations of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone – but with too many moving parts, and politics always in flux, the Belarus gambit slowly unraveled.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also defended the Cypriots slating the EU over its treatment of the country.

The EU was thought to be unhappy with Cyprus after it failed to support the decision to impose penalties on Belarus over election fraud and human rights abuses.

But any such decision requires unanimity of all the 27 EU member states.

Mr Orban, who is often at loggerheads with the EU over his hardline migration policies and what the bloc decries as his moves to undercut democratic checks and balances, defended the right of a sole member state to prevent the whole bloc from making decisions.

That principle has helped him in the past and his eurosceptic allies ruling in Poland have vowed to protect Budapest from any Brussels punishment.

Speaking at a news conference, Mr Orban said: “Don’t humiliate Cyprus.

“They don’t like that idea.I disagree on that but that’s their position. Sanctions could be negotiated again and again, and if there is a unanimity … we can do so.

“But now there is no agreement.”

Mediation led by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Council President Charles Michel has calmed Greek and Turkish tempers after weeks of tension in the eastern Mediterranean.

Brussels secured an agreement on Tuesday to restart talks on continental shelf boundaries that broke off in 2016 in the process.

One EU diplomat added: “Dialogue has reduced the need to threaten sanctions on Turkey and so there’s no consensus among the 27 for such a step right now.”

    Talks will begin on Thursday.”

  5. Pope Francis: Migrants Are Forced to Flee ‘Like Jesus’ (breitbart, Sep 28, 2020)

“Pope Francis emphasized the involuntary nature of much migration Sunday, insisting that, like Jesus, migrants and refugees are often “forced to flee.”

“Today the Church celebrates the World Day of Migrants and Refugees,” the pope told the pilgrims gathered in Saint Peter’s Square for his weekly Angelus address. “I greet the refugees and migrants present in the Square around the monument entitled ‘Angels, unawares,’ which I blessed last year.”

The pontiff said this year he has dedicated his Message for the commemoration “to the internally displaced, who are forced to flee, as also happened to Jesus and his family. ‘Like Jesus, forced to flee,’ likewise the displaced, migrants.”

“Our remembrance and our prayer to them, in a particular way, and to those who assist them,” he added.

Pope Francis has often compared migrants to Jesus Christ, suggesting that the cold welcome Christ received on coming into the world is similar to the reception many migrants experience.

“Jesus knows well the pain of not being welcomed,” the pope said in a 2018 tweet for International Migrants’ Day. “May our hearts not be closed as were the houses in Bethlehem.”

During the flight into Egypt, “the child Jesus experienced with his parents the tragic fate of the displaced and refugees,” Francis said earlier this year, “which is marked by fear, uncertainty and unease.”

“Unfortunately, in our own times, millions of families can identify with this sad reality,” Francis said. “Almost every day the television and papers carry news of refugees fleeing from hunger, war and other grave dangers, in search of security and a dignified life for themselves and for their families.”

“In each of these people, forced to flee to safety, Jesus is present as he was at the time of Herod,” he continued. “In the faces of the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the sick, strangers and prisoners, we are called to see the face of Christ who pleads with us to help.”

“If we can recognize him in those faces, we will be the ones to thank him for having been able to meet, love and serve him in them,” he said.

Pope Francis has made immigration a central plank of his papal platform, encouraging nations to be more inviting to migrants, whether legal or illegal, while insisting that a failure to welcome migrants is rooted in selfishness and fueled by “populist rhetoric.””

  6. Greek Police Arrest Three People Smugglers Holding Migrants Ransom (breitbart, Sep 28, 2020)

“Greek police said Sunday they have arrested three men of Pakistani origin for keeping seven people, including an Afghan family of four, whom they had helped cross into Greece, hostage and demanding money to release them.

Police raids in two places outside the northern city of Thessaloniki on Friday freed the captives and led to the arrests of the traffickers, police said.

The Afghan family — the 66-year-old father, the 42-year-old mother and their two children, a boy and a girl, ages 14 and 16 — had crossed over from Turkey about a week ago. The traffickers kept them hostage, separating the parents from the children, and demanding 6,000 euros ($7,000) to release them, police said.

The traffickers had been in contact with an older son of the Afghan couple, who lives in the UK, for the transfer of money. It was he who tipped off the authorities.

When police raided the place where the children were kept, they also found the three captive Pakistanis, whom they didn’t know about beforehand. The traffickers were demanding a ransom of 2,000 euros ($2,320) from their three compatriots. Police also arrested two of the traffickers, ages 31 and 36. The third trafficker, a 19-year-old, was arrested when the parents were freed, police said.”

  7. ‘We Wish We Stayed in France’: Sudanese Illegal Migrants Complain About Conditions in UK Camp (breitbart, Sep 28, 2020)

“A group of illegal migrants have spoken publicly to complain about the conditions in the recently opened migrant camp in Folkestone, Kent, claiming that the supposedly poor conditions make them regret illegally travelling to the UK from France.

The record numbers of illegal aliens pouring across the English Channel from France forced the Home Office this month to commandeer a former military barracks in Kent to house the migrants, while they apply for asylum.

Last week, over 400 migrants were moved from their hotel accommodations to the Napier Barracks, and the Home Office is reportedly planning on opening a second camp in a former Ministry of Defence site in Wales to house an additional 250 migrants.

Four Sudanese nationals, who are being housed in the camp in Kent, south-east England, admitted in an interview with the Daily Mail that they “wish we had stayed in France”.

The four migrants, Amin Adam, Mohammed, Hussain Abu-Bakr Mohammed, and Yassin Mohammed were brought ashore by UK Border Force two months ago after they illegally crossed the English Channel in a small rubber boat.

One of the illegal aliens, Amin Adam, complained about the conditions in the camp, saying that the migrants are being “kept like animals in pens”.

“The food is no good. There is only one toilet. I should have made my application [for asylum] in France,” he said.

“We have more rights here [in the UK] than in France. I want to go to school in England and work. But this place [the barracks] is no good,” Amin Adam added.

The four asylum seekers claimed that they are all in their 20s and 30s and that they fled the Darfur region of Sudan. After meeting in Calais, France, and sleeping rough in the notorious Jungle encampment for seven months, the four decided to cross the English Channel in a rubber boat they claim they found on the beach.

They were originally taken to a hotel in Slough, Berkshire, on the taxpayer’s dime before being some of the first migrants to be transferred to the camp in the Napier Barracks in Kent.

The Home Office claimed that by using barracks and other military installations to house migrants, they would be able to save the British taxpayer up to 50 per cent of what it would cost to keep them in hotels…”

  8. German mainstream daily newspaper, Darmstädter Echo, calls on Jews to leave Germany

    Source: Darmstädter Echo
Translation: Why do we never get words of thanks from the German Jews that they are living better here than anywhere else in the world? Our highly honored and highly respected politician from the CDU, Walter Lübcke, has courageously said: “Anyone who does not like it in Germany can leave our country at any time.

Although the editor-in-chief published an apology today, the author of the commentary above makes it clear what kind of person the advocates of Merkel’s policy of open borders are. For the “highly praised” Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician Walter Lübcke addressed his demands “Anyone who does not like it in Germany can leave our country at any time” to the critics of Merkel’s migration policies. Once again it becomes clear that the so-called anti-racists are in reality anti-Semites.

  12. Greece: 700 refugees queue for ferry to mainland amid EU relocation programme

Some 700 refugees gathered their belongings from the makeshift migrant camp of Kara Tepe, on the Greek island of Lesbos, to board the Blue Star Ferries ‘Chios Island’ sailing towards Greece mainland on Monday evening.

The migrants who have been granted asylum in Greece carried their belongings inside a bus that would transport them to the ferry, as a military truck supervised by soldiers was being loaded with bags.

The Ministry of Immigration and Asylum is preparing the relocation in collaboration with the European Commission, who will transport the recognised refugees to the European Union member states that have offered to contribute to decongesting the islands.

Greece is expected to relocate 2,300 more refugees to mainland between Thursday and Monday, relieving the new Kara Tepe camp that served as a temporary shelter for around 10,000 migrants who lived in the overcrowded Moria migrant camp that was destroyed in a fire.

The refugees are expected to stay in hotels in mainland Greece until they are relocated to other European Union countries.

    • Crisis for refugees looming as COVID pandemic returns – Aid agencies

International humanitarian agencies are warning of the dangers that a second wave of the pandemic poses for refugees.

Their efforts to draw attention to the plight of refugees is being hindered by anti-migrant protests in Europe, with tensions particularly high in Greece.

    • GREECE – Greek police arrest 33 NGO members for human trafficking

Greek police busted a human trafficking ring in Lesvos, which was reportedly collaborating with four NGOs.

Among the 35 suspects arrested were 33 NGO members from Germany, Austria, Spain, and Switzerland, against whom a court file was opened.

A case has already been filed against 33 NGO members – including Germans, Swiss, French, Bulgarians, Spaniards, Austrians, and Norwegians, as well as an Iranian and a Pakistani.

According to the police, the criminal group started its illicit activities last June and estimate that on at least 32 occasions that it organized passages of refugees to Greece, more than 3,000 illegal immigrants and refugees passed through Greece.

The circuit used closed groups and applications on the internet to share information about where the boats would leave and arrive, providing information and even details about the Moria camp.

The police are looking for the group’s money trail.

Thirty-three NGO members face charges of illegally smuggling migrants into Greece

Thirty-three members of non-government organizations and two foreign nationals alleged to have illegally facilitated the illegal entry of asylum seekers from Turkey into Greece are facing criminal charges including running a criminal organization and espionage and violating state secrets, the Greek Police (ELAS) said on Monday.

In a statement released following several months of investigation with the aid of Greece’s intelligence agency and counter-terrorism unit, ELAS said the alleged racket had been helping smuggle migrants to the island of Lesvos since at least early June.

It is alleged to have actively supported smuggling rings to sneak in migrants using closed social media groups, apps and confidential information including gathering points of migrants on the Turkish coast and the geographical coordinates of refugee flows towards Greece.

The alleged use of the apps also interfered with rescue operations by the Hellenic Coast Guard, according to ELAS.

It has been linked to at least 32 cases of migrant smuggling or attempted smuggling, the statement said, adding that the investigation is continuing to determine the breadth of the alleged racket’s activities.

Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens Tells How He Converted to Islam and Became a Victim
BY ROBERT SPENCER SEP 28, 2020 12:10 PM EST

Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens is a darling of the Western media these days, because he converted to the elites’ favored religion. Critics generally treat Bob Dylan’s “Christian period” as an embarrassing anomaly in his otherwise stellar career, while Yusuf Islam gets a fawning feature in Yahoo Music Sunday to explain his thinking and justify his action.

Yahoo’s Erin Donnelly writes that “the singer who rose to fame as Cat Stevens, and is now known as Yusef/Cat Stevens, is getting candid about his conversion to Islam and the fallout that ensued.” Would Erin Donnelly ever take to Yahoo to publish a lavish puff piece about a singer, songwriter, artist, whatever, who had become an evangelical Christian? Would Yahoo explain with journalistic portent that this artist was finally “getting candid about his conversion,” or would it be much more likely to publish something about how the Christian convert was under fire, his friends were shaking their heads and doubting the soundness of his mind, etc.? You know the answer.

Donnelly then takes us through a brief recapitulation of a story that Yusuf Islam has actually been “candid” about many times before: that of “the 1976 near-death experience that resulted in him turning to the Muslim faith.” The former feline explains: “I was an Englishman. I didn’t know it wasn’t wise to go out at that time of day and take a swim, so I did. I decided to turn back and head for shore and, of course, at that point I realized, ‘I’m fighting the Pacific.’ There was no way I was going to win. There was only one thing to do and that was to pray to the almighty to save me. And I did. I called out to God and he saved me. A little wave came from behind. It wasn’t big. It was just simply pushing me forward. “The tide somehow had changed and I was able to get back to land. So I was saved. I didn’t know what was going to happen next.”

What happened next was that Cat’s brother gave him a Qur’an, and as that other famous convert once said about a different book, every one of them words rang true and glowed like burning coals. “I would never have picked up a Quran,” says Mr. Islam. “But it became the gateway. After a year I could not hold myself back. I had to bow down.”

However, that was when new troubles began for the poor dear. In Turkey, he says, he was “raised on this pedestal,” but it was a different story in the West, or as Yusuf Islam calls it, “the other side”: “But on the other side there were people who said, ‘He’s a bit of a traitor, isn’t he? He’s turned Turk.’”

Yusuf lamented: “That was very difficult because at one point I was an icon of the majority and now I am part of the minority who are looked down upon and certainly, to a large extent, misunderstood.”

Looked down upon and misunderstood: these are numbingly familiar claims by Islamic advocacy groups in the West, which routinely use claims of victimhood to deflect attention away from how Islamic jihadis use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism. Yusuf Islam, late to this game, has nonetheless learned to play it well. Everyone, it seems, is so very unkind to this cosseted multimillionaire, and all because Allah saved him, like Jonah, from the waves.

Neither Yahoo’s Erin Donnelly nor the venerable Yusuf, however, make any mention of a few inconvenient facts. One is that as recently as 2010, there was published on YouTube a nasheed in which the author of “Peace Train” sang: “I’m praying to Allah to give us victory over the kuffar” (unbelievers).

This bellicose prayer was in line with Yusuf Islam’s earlier post-conversion behavior. In 1989, he enthusiastically endorsed the Ayatollah Khomeini’s death fatwa against Salman Rushdie for insulting Islam. In a BBC panel discussion, he said that, rather than burning Rushdie in effigy, “I would have hoped that it’d be the real thing.” He further explained that if he were in an Islamic state and was ordered by the relevant authority to kill Rushdie, he would do so.

In 2004, Yusuf Islam was barred from entering the United States because of suspicions that he had been financing jihad terrorism. He acknowledged that some of his money may have gone to jihadis, but he claimed to have given money to them unwittingly.

Yusuf Islam has worked hard to soften his image, and is never asked any questions about any of this. But those questions remain. And now he is claiming victim status even in the middle of a flattering interview. He has become a model convert indeed.

  15. Now is a good time to remember what happened in Nagorno-Karabah a century ago. For all intents and purposes, a continuation of the Armenian genocide:
Azerbaijani troops, joined by the city’s Azerbaijani inhabitants, turned Armenian Shushi into an inferno. From March 23 to 26, some 2,000 structures were consumed in the flames, including the churches and consistory, cultural institutions, schools, libraries, the business section and the grand homes of the merchant class. Bishop Vahan (Ter-Grigorian), long an advocate of accommodation with the Azerbaijani authorities, paid the price of retribution, as his tongue was torn out before his head was cut off and paraded through the streets on a spike. The chief of police, Avetis Ter-Ghukasian, was turned into a human torch, and many intellectuals were among the 500 Armenian victims. [..]
a ruthless destruction of defenceless women, children, old women and old men began. Armenians were exposed to a mass slaughter …. And what beautiful Armenian girls were raped and then shot. … At an order of … Khosrov-bek Sultanov, pogroms proceeded for more than six days, houses in the Armenian part were crushed, plundered and reduced all to ashes, everyone led women away whenever they wished, to musavatist executioners. During these historically “artful” punishments Khosrov-bek Sultanov, keeping speeches, talked to Moslems about holy war (Jihad) and called on to them to finish off the Armenians of city Shusha, not sparing women, children, etc.
in this town, which formerly, of course, was healthy and with every amenity, the picture of catastrophe and massacres was terribly vivid … They say after the massacres all the wells were full of corpses. ( … ) We didn’t see anyone in the streets or on the mountain. Only downtown, in the market-square there were a lot of people, but there wasn’t any Armenian among them, they were all Muslims.
The Armenia, Armenia: about the country and the people from the biblical times to our days reference book considers the pogroms of Shusha as a part of genocide of Armenians practiced all over Eastern Armenia: “Shushi, the capital of Karabakh was seized by Azerbaijani nationalists on March 23, 1920, over 20.000 Armenians were killed and 7000 houses, libraries, churches, cemeteries and pantheons were leveled in three days and three nights.”

The Treaty of Sèvres served to confirm Kemal’s suspicions about Allied plans to partition the empire. According to the historian Richard G. During the invasion the Turkish Army carried out mass atrocities against Armenian civilians in Kars and Alexandropol. These included rapes and massacres where tens of thousands of civilians were executed.

Pascale Ferrier was also carrying a loaded handgun, a knife and a backpack stuffed with 294 rounds of ammunition, a stun gun, pepper spray, a baton and false U.S. identification when she was arrested crossing into the United States at the Canada-U.S. border, U.S. prosecutors allege.

“She was loaded for bear,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Lynch, arguing in a Buffalo, N.Y., courtroom the need for her to remain in custody pending her appearance in court in Washington, DC.

“After she was detained, she admitted she had sent ricin to locations in Texas and to the president of the United States,” Lynch said.

U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr. in federal court in Buffalo, N.Y., noted the stark possible outcome of the ricin letter.

“This country has a history of witnessing assassinations and attempted assassinations of the president of the United States, going back to Abraham Lincoln and then William McKinley — here in this very city of Buffalo, N.Y. — the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan and now the numerous threats that have been made, allegedly by the defendant, against Donald J. Trump.”

He denied her release on bail.

Ferrier, 53, pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening the president of the United States, which holds a maximum penalty of five years.

CBC – Canadian accused of sending poisoned letters to White House held in custody

A Quebec woman suspected of sending toxin-laced envelopes to the White House and to several officials in Texas will remain in custody for now.

Pascale Ferrier, 53, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening the president, appeared in a Buffalo, N.Y., courtroom this afternoon for a detention hearing. U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder said there is “clear and convincing material” to suggest she poses a danger to U.S. President Donald Trump and others.

Timothy Lynch, the federal attorney on the case, successfully argued that Ferrier, a dual Canadian-French citizen, shouldn’t be released given the violent nature of her alleged crime and her flight risk.

According to an affidavit by an FBI bomb technician, officials intercepted a letter addressed to Trump and postmarked from Canada containing ricin at a mail sorting facility on Sept. 18.

Ricin is found naturally in castor beans and is a deadly poison. Exposure to an amount as small as a pinhead can be fatal.

[…]Ferrier was arrested on at the Peace Bridge border crossing between Fort Erie, Ont., and New York State on Sept. 20. In her possession at the time were a loaded semi-automatic handgun with seven rounds, plus another 294 rounds of ammunition, pepper spray, a knife, a baton and a stun gun, said Lynch.

“She was loaded for bear, judge,” he said.

Officials said Ferrier was also found with a fake Texas driver’s licence bearing the name “Jane Ferrier” at the time of her arrest.

Lynch also pointed to a pre-trial service report that argued there are no conditions that would counter the risk she poses.

    • Chris left Japan and Australia out of the equation, India is working with both nations and is trying to get some type of regional mutual defense treaty with everyone that China is threatening.

By itself India can’t take the Chinese Navy with the US siding them it will be easy, with Japan and/or Australia it will be easy but not as easy as it will be if we join in. Both India and the US want Japan and Australia to join because that will reduce the number of ships, personal and the amount of money we will have to spend.

Watch this region and these nations closely, with Turkey and Russia fighting what looks to be the opening battles of a regional war China will be temped to try something. Probably after the election when the left explodes because Trump wins the election. Again.

Calling for a “green revolution” while amping-up their own coal plants will work, they predict, because the likes of Dystopia’s Dear Leader will tow any line they ask:
