Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    A group of Carabinieri military police have been arrested and their police station closed after investigators uncovered a raft of alleged crimes taking place in the barracks.
    The Carabinieri in the northern city of Piacenza are suspected of drug-trafficking, blackmail and torture.
    The case has shocked prosecutors and residents in the northern Italian city.
    “We are untouchable,” one of the suspects is alleged to have told a colleague on a police wiretap.
    Accounts of the team’s exploits were front-page news in Italy on Thursday, and local prosecutor Grazia Pradella said “nothing that went on in that barracks was legal – they were out-and-out criminals”.
    The allegations read like the pages of a crime novel, and many of the offences took place in the weeks when Italy went into pandemic lockdown, even though the police operation began in 2017.
    “While the city of Piacenza was counting so many coronavirus deaths, these Carabinieri supplied drugs to the drug dealers who were stuck at home without drugs under anti-Covid rules,” the prosecutor said. Piacenza is in the northern region of Emilia Romagna and suffered one of the highest death rates in Italy.

We see international coordination with countries goose stepping in lockstep–mask on, mask off, lock down, lock off, hcq no–almost like we can see which countries have fully signed up to the comintern by that chart displaying CCP bug success according to the extent they allow hcq to be used. It seems, however, success is how you see it. The greatest inverted success the Franchise has had is in fully-developed western countries with dominantly-compliant mainstream news outlets pushing their agenda to mask all truth in order to further mass-line effects where ever possible. Yes, the franchise model seems to fit, and work. Follow the centrally-planned playbook and you, Dear Leaders, shall be rewarded in our coming New World Order. The Franchise even allows for degrees of adherence, but they are watching closely. Just look at how Victor Orban and PT are attacked. All of this is taking place, not ironically, against an economic backdrop for which the left is fully responsible. Cancelling economic output while cancelling the most accessible cure to the bug, all to usurp the President’s reelection bid, renders the word “cancel” suddenly, somehow, insufficient. Revolution by any other name never seemed quite so trite as a mere “cancellation”, but there you have it. Language ranks with antigravity pantsuits as mankind’ s greatest invention and the pantsuit has yet to be invented! Language is the key. Words. Ain’t no sunshine when they’re used against you, or taken away.

    Here comes the second wave, folks. Just when you thought it was safe to go out, and it’s not even autumn cold and flu season yet. I thought the Franchise would give us at least until September. Guess I was wrong. Here we were told by doctors that cooler, dryer air promotes viral infection more than hot, moist air. This is why cold and flu season happens in winter. I heard and read this more than once. Now, the Franchise orders us to mask-up in summer indoors. Suddenly the use of this Franchise concept is helping me more. It packages nicely the work of Stephen Coughlin, along with the amorphous idea of very powerful extra-national, camoflaged, very rich neo-Marxists pulling strings that so distort our current world view.

    As an aside, what is left of our conservative leadership seem to be turning their coats inside-out. Ontario’s Premier Doug Ford no longer resembles the common-sense man Ontario asked to take over from the previous communist-lesbian Premier. He, too, seems to be “coming out” of his own little closet, revealing himself to be a bully who cancels cabinet members who still believe in serving their constituencies, and thinking for themselves. One would think Mr. Ford would want to cancel every cabinet member BUT these members. Perhaps the Franchise has had a chat with him, along with Britain’s dear leader Boris Johnson. Integrity is not a condiment served by this Franchise. Chatted up or not, any politician can see how far he will get by playing ball with the incredibly-powerful franchisor, and how his power and career will ebb and wane with his willingness. He then passes it down the line by dumping uncooperative cabinet ministers. He has become a multi-level franchisor just like the Amway pyramid scheme, or Mary Kay cosmetics. One of the beautiful aspects of this model is that it is nearly impossible to prove the pyramid exists. But like the black hole out in deep space that we cannot see, science knows it is there, and it can prove it. Because while astronomers cannot actually see the universe-sucking vortex at work, they can see the bending of light with immense gravitational pull around the hole. This is the proof that an enormous mass exists, and is in play.

    The distortions cannot be hidden.

    With so many big stories breaking, it’s hard to get attention even for important news about the FBI’s and CIA’s misdeeds. Still, the wrongdoing at James Comey’s FBI and John Brennan’s CIA was serious, as the news this week amply demonstrates.

    On July 17, we learned that the FBI knew, just as Donald Trump’s presidency was beginning, that there was no evidence his campaign had colluded with Russia. That’s the significance of a memo written by FBI agent Peter Strzok in mid-February 2017 and just released.

    The news matters for three reasons. First, almost all the public investigation and damaging narrative about “Trump-Russia collusion” came after investigators knew how little supporting evidence there was.

    Second, the more we learn about the ensuing investigations, the more they look like concerted abuses of government authority. We give law-enforcement and intelligence agencies tremendous power so they can protect us; when they abuse that power, they need to be held accountable and reined in. That seldom happens to anyone in Washington’s sprawling bureaucracies, which protect their own within the gurgling ecosystem of power, profit, regulation, and rent-seeking. Just ask Lois Lerner.

  7. Junk food adverts could be banned entirely online, after the government’s decision to bar any unhealthy food advertising before 9pm online or on television, as part of its strategy to tackle the “time bomb” of obesity.

    The measures have been cautiously welcomed though some health experts are concerned they place too much emphasis on individual responsibility for obesity, rather than addressing health inequalities.

    The government has said it will ban junk food adverts before 9pm and launch a short consultation on whether that should be extended to a blanket ban on adverts for sweets and fast food online.

She’s been lauded as a “hero among us” by the Boston Celtics. She writes for the Boston Globe, and is currently working to re-elect Rep.     “The last time Iran held drills involving such a massive mock-up of a top American vessel was in 2015 ahead of signing a nuclear deal with members of the international community. The possibility of a new massive drill with live ammunition comes as the said deal is in shambles due to the US withdrawal from it and escalating tensions with Washington.

    Iran has started tugging a mock-up of an American Nimitz-class carrier to the Strait of Hormuz, according to satellite photos captured by Maxar Technologies, AP reported. The vessel was being tugged from the port of Bandar Abbas towards the strategic waterway surrounded by IRGC fast attack boats, according to the photos taken on 26 July.

    The mock-up is around 30% smaller than the real-life Nimitz-class supercarrier and hosts 16 replicas of American fighter jets on its top deck, according to the photos. US carriers of this class routinely visit the Persian Gulf despite regular protests by Tehran, arguing that the security of the region must be maintained by the forces of local governments. One of these carriers, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, is about to leave the Arabian Sea with the USS Nimitz coming in to replace it.

    A similar replica of the American supercarriers was used in live-fire drills back in 2015, meaning the reported repositioning of the new mock-up might be a signal of upcoming war games. The 2015 drills took place as Iran was still in a deadlock in terms of negotiations regarding its nuclear programme and was yet to sign the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with the P5+1 countries and the EU. The possibility of a new drill involving the carrier replica comes at a time when the JCPOA deal is in a shambles due to Washington’s actions…”

    “The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Monday it had prevented a terror attack that a Central Asian national planned to stage in a crowded area in Moscow.

    “The FSB, jointly with the Interior Ministry and the Investigative Committee, has thwarted activities of a member of a terrorist organization, who planned to conduct a terror attack in a place of mass gatherings in Moscow,” the FSB said in a press release.

    The terrorist was eliminated after he opened fire on law enforcement agents during detention, the FSB went on to say, adding that a Kalashnikov assault rifle, two F-1 grenades and one RGD grenades were found at the site.

    “During searches in the flat that the criminal rented, …. material evidence was found proving that the eliminated bandit had links to emissaries of an international terrorist organization in Syria and that he was preparing to stage a mass execution,” the FSB said.
    According to the FSB, the terrorist was a citizen of a Central Asian country, he rented an apartment in the Russian capital. His brother, detained by the FSB in the Moscow region, was trying to prevent the malefactor from going to Syria for engaging in activities of an international terrorist organisation that is banned in Russia.

    According to video footage released by the FSB, the criminal’s brother immediately reported to the Russian Interior Ministry after the terrorist went missing two weeks ago as he began to suspect his brother of communicating with militants from Syria.

    A search for possible accomplices is underway, the FSB added.”

    “German prosecutors said Monday a German woman who allegedly joined the Islamic State group in Syria was arrested upon her return to the country. She is accused of membership in a foreign terrorist group, war crimes against property and other crimes.

    Federal prosecutors said in a written statement that the woman, identified only as Nurten J. in line with local privacy laws, was arrested Friday at Frankfurt Airport.

    Prosecutors allege she traveled with her then 4-year-old daughter to Syria in 2015 to join IS. There, she married a man who had also come from Germany and they started a family.

    The woman allegedly raised her children according to IS ideology and in return she received a monthly payment from the extremist group and lived successively in five different apartments whose former tenants were either killed or evicted.

    In 2016 and 2017, she often had a friend visit her home who brought along an enslaved Yazidi woman who then allegedly had to clean J.’s home.

    After IS lost its territories in Syria, J. and her family were captured by Kurds and were eventually taken into deportation custody in Turkey. It was not clear if she was returned to Germany in custody and and the fate of her children was not known.

    The federal prosecutor’s office could not immediately be reached for further details.”

    “In Spain, mass regularisation can be a solution that benefits everyone,” said Father Fabio Baggio during an online forum last week with representatives from Spanish Catholic dioceses in charge of immigrants.

    Representatives of the far-left Spanish political alliance Unidas Podemos (“United We Can”), comprising Podemos, United Left, and other left-wing parties, immediately embraced the Vatican solution, noting that it coincides exactly what the Spanish Left has been calling for.

    Podemos, whose general secretary Pablo Iglesias was listed by George Soros’ Open Societies NGO as a “reliable ally,” has already launched its own proposal for universal amnesty and citizenship “for all those migrants who have lived through the epidemic with us.”

    The party calls for “regulatory provisions that allow ending the irregularity of all people, whatever their administrative situation, who were on Spanish soil the day the state of alert was declared,” the only solution that is “correct and decent from the point of view of social justice and human rights.”

    This universal regularisation of all immigrants is both “an imperative of justice” and “the right decision from the health and economic point of view,” the group insists.

    After the announcement of the Vatican’s support for mass regularization, the spokesman for Unidas Podemos, Pablo Echenique, tweeted a message to the leaders of the centre-right Partido Popular (Pablo Casado Blanco) and the nationalist Vox party (Santiago Abascal), urging them as Catholics to follow the Vatican’s lead and welcome the call for universal amnesty and citizenship.

    In his address last week, the Vatican’s Father Baggio said that there would be “massive migratory flows stemming from people’s desire to find a solution to their economic problems” following the coronavirus pandemic, and urged nations to welcome them and rejected a “new protectionism” against unchecked immigration in Europe.

    “We think that many countries will have restricted entry, as they have done at this time, without promoting regular channels of immigration… to give priority to their nationals,” the priest warned. “This rise of ‘new protectionism’ could cause an increase in irregular channels of immigration.”

    “There are many migrant workers — thousands — who have had to return to their homeland, lost their jobs, stopped sending remittances to their families, and that is why we have families in crisis and entire nations that are facing crises of returning migrants,” he said. “The pandemic has affected all people, yes, but the most vulnerable in a more particular way.””

    “Lampedusa in the Mediterranean has seen a recent surge in migrant arrivals, with the Italian island now seeing an average of one migrant boat arrive every hour.

    The mayor has threatened to declare an emergency as the local migrant reception centre has been flooded with ten times its average capacity.

    Mayor Totò Martello said, according to Die Welt: “The situation has become uncontrollable. If the government doesn’t, I’ll declare a state of emergency.”

    Most of the migrants on the island, which is the part of Italy closest to the North African coast, arrive from Tunisia. Another 200 arrived on the island over the weekend.

    Lampedusa has been a hotspot for illegal migration due to its proximity to North Africa, but had seen a brief slowdown during the anti-coronavirus lockdown earlier this year.

    Last month, islanders held their own referendum on the issue of illegal migration, with the vast majority voting to close the migrant reception centre, with only four people wanting to keep it open.

    “For 30 years, in the face of the continuous violation of the most essential rights for the population and for immigrants, Lampedusa has been used as a military management platform for migration,” a committee of islanders said.

    “All this with the complicity of local administrations and through a moral and economic blackmailing strategy, to the detriment of the local population,” they added.

    With the rise in migrants has also come concerns about the spread of the Chinese coronavirus as several migrants brought to Italy by migrant transport NGOs have tested positive for the disease.

    Italian authorities have placed migrants into quarantine if they are suspected of having the coronavirus, but there have also been examples of migrants escaping reception facilities under lockdown, such as in the Sicilian town of Siculiana earlier this month.

    Last week, migrants escaped from another reception centre under quarantine in Brindisi, with at least one who had been confirmed to have the virus.

    Initially, 30 migrants escaped, but nine were quickly found as they had injured themselves while trying to leave.”

    “Muslim pilgrims have started arriving in Mecca for a drastically scaled-down hajj, as Saudi authorities balance the kingdom’s oversight of one of Islam’s key pillars and the safety of visitors in the face of a global pandemic.

    The hajj, which begins on Wednesday, normally draws around 2.5 million people for five intense days of worship in one of the world’s largest gatherings of people from around the world.

    This year, Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Ministry has said between 1,000 and 10,000 people already residing in the kingdom will be allowed to perform the pilgrimage. Two-thirds of those pilgrims will be from among foreign residents in Saudi Arabia and one-third will be Saudi citizens.

    The kingdom has one of the Mideast’s largest outbreaks of the coronavirus, with nearly 269,000 reported infections, including 2,760 deaths.

    Fatin Daud, a 25-year-old Malaysian who is studying Arabic in Saudi Arabia, was among the select few whose application for hajj was approved. After her selection, Saudi Health Ministry officials came to her home and tested her for the COVID-19 virus. She was then given an electronic bracelet that monitors her movements, and told to quarantine for several days at home.

    After that, Daud was moved to a hotel in Mecca, where she remains in self-isolation, still wearing the electronic wristband. A large box of food is delivered to her hotel room three times a day as she prepares to begin the hajj.

    “It was unbelievable. It felt surreal because I was not expecting to get it,” she said of her excitement when she found out she was selected. Daud said she’s praying for the end of COVID-19 and for unity among Muslims around the world.

    “I am confident that safety measures are being taken and that the only thing that we need to do as pilgrims is follow instructions, and try our best to support each other,” she said.

    While self-isolating has been emotionally challenging, Daud said she is part of a group of about 10 Malaysian and Singaporean pilgrims connecting online and sharing tips and religious exercises to keep busy.

    The Saudi government is covering the expenses of all pilgrims this year, providing them with meals, hotel accommodation, transportation and health care. Normally, the hajj can cost thousands of dollars for pilgrims who save for a lifetime for the journey. It also generates billions of dollars in revenue each year for Saudi Arabia.

    Saudi kings have for generations assumed titles as custodians of Islam’s holiest sites, and their oversight of the hajj is a source of prestige and influence among Muslims globally. Saudi Arabia has never canceled the hajj in the nearly 90 years since the country was founded.

    King Salman, who typically oversees the hajj from Mecca, underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder at a hospital in the capital, Riyadh, the royal court said last week. The 84-year-old monarch was to remain at the hospital to recover and be observed by doctors.

    For the first time in Saudi history, no pilgrims from abroad were permitted to take part in the hajj due to concerns about the coronavirus and overcrowding. It’s a stark departure from previous years, when some 2 million pilgrims from more than 160 countries flocked to Mecca for the spiritual rituals, mostly from across Asia and Africa.

    Although the hajj often draws all age groups, pilgrims this year were required to be between the ages of 20 and 50, and in good health.

    The physically demanding rituals of the hajj offer a profound experience for Muslims, with the faithful often weeping, their palms stretched toward the sky, in prayer and repentance. The hajj is required of all able-bodied Muslims once in a lifetime.

    This year, international media were not given permission to cover the hajj from Mecca.

    Also this year, pilgrims must wear face masks and will only be able to drink holy water from the Zamzam well in Mecca that has been prepackaged in plastic bottles. Pebbles for casting away evil that are usually picked up by pilgrims along hajj routes will be sterilized and bagged before being distributed to the pilgrims.

    Pilgrims are also bringing their own prayer rugs and will be required to pray at a distance from one another, rather than packed shoulder-to-shoulder.”

    “Turkey has reduced the number of navy vessels in an area of the East Mediterranean where it disputes Greek jurisdiction over oil-and-gas drilling rights, Greek authorities said Monday.

    Tensions in the long-standing dispute flared last week between the two NATO allies when Turkey announced it planned to send a research vessel south of the Greek islands of Rhodes, Karpathos, and Kastellorizo.

    The initiative was publicly criticized by the United States, France, and other European countries, and the Turkish research vessel, the Oruc Reis, has remained anchored off the southeast Turkish port of Antalya.

    Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas said Monday that Turkey was withdrawing navy vessels from the area, adding that Athens remained ready to enter negotiations with Turkey “within the framework of international law and good neighborly relations.”

    Turkey accuses Greece of trying to exclude it from fair mineral exploitation in the East Mediterranean, arguing that Greek islands should not be included calculating exclusive economic zones. Athens counters that Turkey’s position is a violation of international law.

    Turkey says the research mission plan will remain in effect through Aug. 2.”

      Syrian political analyst Abd Al-Masih Al-Shami said that Hagia Sophia is being turned into a mosque in order to re-ignite the conflict between Islam and Christianity, and between Turkey and Europe.

      Turkish journalist Hamza Tekin said that Turkey is sending a message to the Muslim world that it is a strong Islamic country that can restore its historical days of glory, and that it is sending a message to the rest of the world that it is now capable of breaking the “spiritual shackles” that have been binding Turkey for the past 100 years since the Hagia Sophia mosque was shut down.

      Tekin said that Turkey can do as it pleases with Hagia Sophia, even it if wishes to demolish it or burn it down.

      Testing will soon begin in poverty-stricken parts of Africa for a biometric ID which will also be your payment system and vaccine record. The biometric digital identity platform that “evolves just as you evolve” is backed by none other than the Bill Gates-backed GAVI vaccine alliance, Mastercard, and the AI-powered “identity authentication” company, Trust Stamp.

      The GAVI Alliance, which is largely funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates and Rockefeller Foundations, as well as allied governments and the vaccine industry, is principally concerned with improving “the health of markets for vaccines and other immunization products,” rather than the health of individuals, according to its own website. Similarly, Mastercard’s GAVI partnership is directly linked to its “World Beyond Cash” effort, which mainly bolsters its business model that has long depended on a reduction in the use of physical cash.

      Reducing the use of cash is needed. Cash is impossible to track, but if you use centralized digital currency, the ruling class has complete control over what you can spend.

      The program, which was first launched in late 2018, will see Trust Stamp’s digital identity platform integrated into the GAVI-Mastercard “Wellness Pass,” a digital vaccination record and identity system that is also linked to Mastercard’s click-to-play system that powered by its AI and machine learning technology called NuData. Mastercard, in addition to professing its commitment to promoting “centralized record keeping of childhood immunization” also describes itself as a leader toward a “World Beyond Cash,” and its partnership with GAVI marks a novel approach towards linking a biometric digital identity system, vaccination records, and a payment system into a single cohesive platform. The effort, since its launch nearly two years ago, has been funded via $3.8 million in GAVI donor funds in addition to a matched donation of the same amount by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. –Activist Post

      In early June, GAVI reported that Mastercard’s Wellness Pass program would be adapted in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Around a month later, Mastercard announced that Trust Stamp’s biometric identity platform would be integrated into Wellness Pass as Trust Stamp’s system is capable of providing biometric identity in areas of the world lacking internet access or cellular connectivity and also does not require knowledge of an individual’s legal name or identity to function. The Wellness Program involving GAVI, Mastercard, and Trust Stamp will soon be launched in West Africa and will be coupled with a COVID-19 vaccination program once a vaccine becomes available.

      What is perhaps most alarming about this new “Wellness Pass” initiative, is that it links these “dual use” digital solutions to cashless payment solutions that could soon become mandated as anything over than touchless, cashless, methods of payment have been treated as potential modes for contagion by GAVI-aligned groups like the World Health Organization, among others, since the pandemic was first declared earlier this year. –Activist Post

      For those stuck on the line of thinking that President Donald Trump said this “vaccine will be voluntary,” you are probably correct. It’ll be “voluntary” all right. And if you don’t get it and participate in the new biometric ID program, you won’t be able to buy or sell anything, including food. That sounds nothing like the definition of voluntary to me, but believe in whatever religion you wish and put your trust in whomever you want.     The court heard that the 20-year-old Romanian victim was tricked into travelling to the United Kingdom to work in a factory. However, when she arrived in the country last April, the brothers confiscated her passport and forced her into sexual slavery.

    The victim said that she informed the brothers that she never worked as a prostitute before, to which she was told she “would learn”, according to the Metropolitan Police.

    The elder brother, Ioan Dumitru, threatened her that if she failed to earn them money from sex work then he would “break her head”….”

    Catherine Roome is president and lead executive officer of Technical Safety BC, the independent organization that oversees the installation and operation of technical systems and equipment in British Columbia.

    A few weeks ago, in my role as the president and chief executive officer of Technical Safety BC, I sent an e-mail to our 450 employees about racism and, in particular, systemic racism against people of colour.

    I wrote about my hope that the Black Lives Matter movement would present Canada with an opportunity to define what a better world looks like. I also wrote that deeply seated racism in our society includes racism toward Indigenous peoples – the original inhabitants of these lands.

    In response, many Technical Safety BC employees from across British Columbia took the opportunity to share their experiences and expressed calls for action and reflection. In particular, I was urged to consider the importance of language and the titles that many of us adopt and use without thinking.

    As folks who know me well will tell you, I am a stickler for inclusive language. I often interrupt people – board directors, heads of organizations, politicians and others – if I feel they are using titles for our employees that are outdated.

    So to receive constructive feedback on my own use of language made me sit up and take notice.

    One particularly courageous colleague pointed out that I was using a word in my title, president and chief executive officer, that represents something deeply meaningful to many Indigenous peoples. It is a word that is honoured and respected in First Nations culture and conveys a meaning very different to organizational leadership.

    The origin of my original title is European. That doesn’t give me a pass. Asking about how racism affects a person and being given an answer means I can choose to listen and do something, or I can stay silent.

    I have long been a champion for Indigenous rights and reconciliation. Yet I am ashamed to say, the thought had never even occurred to me that the title I proudly held could evoke such a response, or even be viewed as disrespectful to the very reconciliation process that I support.

    So upon reflection, I have changed my title within the organization to president and lead executive officer.

    It’s a move that I felt was important – perhaps other organizational leaders will as well.

    From a day-to-day business perspective, a title is simply a title. Making this change will not affect the role or responsibilities and there may even be times when business demands the use of the previous title.

    But when it comes to the issue of reconciliation and the need to lead by example, an industry title is indeed much more than just a simple word. Particularly when it is backed up by other actions that reflect and respect the culture of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, on whose traditional, ancestral and unceded lands we live and work.

    Others have led the way – I simply want to lend my voice to those who also believe we need to move on our values, perhaps before other executive systems are prepared to do so. That is what is important to me and my team at Technical Safety BC: to not only be true to our core values, but to actively listen for and then embrace opportunities to make those values come to life.

    As an executive with the ability to reach and influence others, my goal is to create a space and a culture where everyone is not only welcomed, but celebrated for who they are.

    This will hopefully help serve as a step in that direction.

    A source in the Lebanese Security Service told Sputnik that there have been clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border. An armed detachment of Hezbollah fighters that appeared from the direction of the village of al-Ghazir tried to destroy an Israeli military convoy. The detachment was exposed and the IDF eliminated it. A firefight erupted and clashes between Hezbollah and the IDF are still ongoing, according to the source. Explosions can be heard in the area of the Shebaa Farms and the village of al-Ghazir; artillery is firing. Aviation is also involved in the clashes, the source said.

    Earlier, the country’s Channel 12 reported that an exchange of fire had taken place on Israel’s northern border. A military spokesman has confirmed that there was a security incident along the border and the Israeli military ordered residents in the area to remain indoors.

    According to an Al Mayadeen report, the Israeli Army has opened fire on Lebanon’s Kafershuba. The Israeli military is reportedly moving all troops and equipment to fortified positions on the Lebanese border.

    The Israeli military attacked Lebanese territories following the Hezbollah movement’s operation against the Israeli Army in the Shebaa farms area at the border, Al Mayadeen reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the sources, the operation was in response to the Israeli attack in Syria in which a Hezbollah fighter died. The Shebaa farms area is a disputed territory between Lebanon, Israel, and Syria.

    The report comes a day after the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) said that a drone fell on Lebanese territory during operations along the border.

    Last week, the Israeli media reported that additional troops had been moved to the country’s northern regions amid rising tensions after the latest Israeli air force strike in southern Damascus on 20 July.
    On 24 July, explosions reportedly thundered on the border between Israel and Syria, damaging a building and a car on the Israeli side. In response, Israeli helicopters fired at Syrian Army targets in southern Syria.

    Israel and Lebanon have tense bilateral relations. Tel Aviv has reportedly violated its neighbour’s air, sea, and land borders repeatedly and used Lebanese air space to launch strikes at Syria aimed at alleged targets belonging to the Hezbollah movement. The Hezbollah movement is deemed a terror organisation in Israel, who consider the group to be backed by Iran.

    The two countries also have some territorial disputes about the demarcation of maritime and land borders.

    Shahnaz Sadeghifar, aged 32, was handed a 15-year jail term last week for her former membership of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), according to the IranWire website.

    Sadeghifar and her teenage daughter were arrested and held at a prison and intelligence detention centre in Urmia, western Iran, when she re-entered the country in 2019.

    Her daughter was reportedly acquitted and will be released from prison in the coming days, according to the website.

    Sadeghifar resigned from the PAK last year and was given a letter of amnesty by the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence division, which granted her safe passage to Iran, where she has two other daughters.

    Iran’s first Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued an edict that allowed former Kurdish activists to return home and avoid criminal prosecution if they received a letter of amnesty, although they would forgo some civil rights.

    Despite having such a letter from Iranian intelligence, Sadeghifar and her daughter were detained shortly after their return home.

    There are fears for Sadeghifa’s mental and physical health in detention, where conditions are said to be poor and torture rife.

    The PAK is an Iranian-Kurdish separatist movement that seeks to establish an independent state and is viewed as a terrorist organisation by Tehran.

    The movement took part in the Iraqi-Kurdish military campaign against the Islamic State group and has also engaged in clashes with Iranian and Tehran-backed Iraqi militia forces.”

    Gercek Hayat and Yeni Safak are owned by the Albayrak Media Group, which has close ties to the Turkish government and President Erdogan.

    On Friday, Turkey re-opened the Hagia Sophia is a mosque more than 80 years after its conversion into a museum by the Turkish Republic’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

    Built as a cathedral under the Christian Byzantine Empire, the Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque after the 1453 conquest of Istanbul by the Ottomans.
