DOJ: Pakistani Doctor on H-1B Visa Wanted to Attack U.S. for ISIS (breitbart, May 15, 2020)

“A Pakistani doctor, admitted to the United States through the H-1B visa program, wanted to attack Americans for the Islamic State (ISIS), federal agents say in a criminal complaint.
Muhammad Masood, a 28-year-old Pakistani national, first arrived in the U.S. in February 2018 after he was able to secure an H-1B visa — the visa program whereby more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. every year and are allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment.
Masood worked as an H-1B visa holder “research coordinator” at a medical clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
According to a criminal complaint by federal agents with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Masood repeatedly stated his wanting to commit terrorism on Americans for ISIS while in the U.S. on his H-1B visa.
“[Masood] indicated … because he was currently in the United States, ‘sometimes I want to attack [the] enemy when I am behind enemy [lines] itself’ because ‘not many people [can] even reach here to attack,’” the criminal complaint states. “Discussing his travel to [commit jihad for ISIS], [Masood] noted that he will lose the chance to conduct an attack in the United States: ‘I wonder if I will miss the opportunity of attacking the enemy when I was in the middle of it.’”
In another message through a messaging app, Masood said he had intended to attack Americans in the U.S. while on his H-1B visa but decided to make travel plans to fight for ISIS in Syria instead, according to federal agents.
“You know [brother] … there is so much I wanted to do here … [lone wolf] stuff you know… but I realized [I] should be on the ground helping brothers, sisters, kids inshAllah,” Masood allegedly wrote in a message.
On February 21, federal agents said Masood bought a plane ticket from Chicago, Illinois, to Amman, Jordan, where he then planned to travel to Syria. After Masood was forced to cancel his trip to Jordan due to the Chinese coronavirus crisis, he bought a plane ticket from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Los Angeles, California.
On March 19, Masood was taken into custody by federal agents after arriving at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to board his flight.
Masood has been charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS.”
Turk allowed to stay in Switzerland despite rape of a young, unconscious woman
A Turk born in Switzerland is allowed to stay in Switzerland, although he was sentenced to 28 months in prison in 2016 for raping a woman. The Administrative Court of the Canton of Berne has revoked the revocation of the settlement permit by the Berne Security Directorate. According to the verdict published on Friday, seven years ago the now 25-year-old man and two accomplices committed a crime against an unconscious young woman. The young Turkish man performed sexual intercourse unprotected.One of the accomplices recorded the act.The latter subsequently sent this video to at least seven people. The three young men also stole from the victim. The young woman suffered severe post-traumatic stress disorder. Between 2011 and 2017, the young Turk was also punished for several minor offences, such as traffic violations. In 2016 the young Turk met a young Swiss woman whom he married in mid-2019.According to the Bernese Administrative Court, the young man has since completed an apprenticeship and has proven himself in his training. After a preliminary hearing, the court considered it plausible that the complainant had in the meantime matured and was making serious efforts to lead an orderly life in accordance with the law. His wife’s family supported him. In 2013, when the victim was raped, he was more of a hanger-on, according to the court that sentenced him. He has been without criminal record for three years.Admittedly, the rape was a serious offence, which would indicate that the person had to be expelled. The man also had a certain connection to his home country, although he was born in Switzerland. For example, he had spent several holidays in Turkey and at least one aunt and stepfather still lived there. According to his own statements, however, the young Turk has no contact with him. In this case, however, it should also be noted that the young Swiss wife of the Turk has no connection to Turkey at all. According to the court, expelling the young Turkish man would “result in a considerable impairment of his married life and would be particularly difficult for his wife to cope with”.In addition, there were no indications that the young Turk could relapse in violence and sexual offences. Sometimes the young Turkish man’s private interests were “of considerable weight” in view of growing up in Switzerland, the marital relationship and the rather difficult integration of the man in Turkey.

“The Hungarian government is donating $30,000 for the repair of Christian churches vandalized by migrants on the Greek island of Lesbos.
“As part of the @HungaryHelps Program, we’re contributing USD 30000 to the refurbishment of churches vandalized by immigrants on the Greek island of Lesbos,” said Tristan Azbej, State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians, in a social media post.
“I hope our messages about protecting Christian heritage & about illegal migration get through.”
This spring, Muslim migrants, mostly from Syria, have attacked several Christian sites on the island of Lesbos, such as the raid in early March on the Christian church of Hagios Georgios near the village of Moria, home to a large refugee camp.
Local residents said that when police prevented hundreds of migrants from being transferred to Athens, a mob of some twenty of them went to the church and took their revenge by destroying the nave and the altar, along with icons and church furnishings.
A group of 500 refugees attempted to march down to the port of Mytilini from the Moria camp but were met by members of MAT (riot police). The migrants pelted the Greek police with stones but were repelled with chemical and flash grenades.
The following month, another band of migrants attacked the church of Saint Raphael, smashing its wooden doors and causing further desecration inside the church.
Last November, migrants on the island of Chios vandalized the Church of Hagios Haralambos in Chalkios village for a third time, setting fire to the altar.
In response to the vandalism, members of the Greek national minority in Hungary contacted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Office in order to seek assistance with the restoration of their chapels.
As part of its Hungary Helps Programme, the Minister of State for Helping Persecuted Christians responded to the appeal with a donation of HUF 10 million ($30,000) for the renovation of churches on the island of Lesbos, which will be delivered through the Self-Government of the Greeks of Hungary.
“Hungary firmly stands up for protecting freedom of religion and Christian culture,” declared the Prime Minister’s office. “We hold that help must be taken where there is trouble, rather than bringing trouble here.”
Lesbos has a native population of only 90,000 citizens, but presently hosts some 25,000 migrants.”

The Defense Ministry said on Saturday that President Aleksandar Vucic ordered the troop deployment to “secure” three migrant camps near the western town of Sid that are housing some 1,500 people, mostly from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Vucic said he ordered the deployment to protect the local population from alleged harassment and robberies committed by the migrants.
He told TV Prva that after a state of emergency imposed to fight the coronavirus spread in Serbia was lifted earlier this month, the migrants started venturing outside their camps, committing “petty crimes and illegal entries into houses.”
“Because of that people are feeling unsafe,” Vucic said.
There is increased popular resentment toward the migrants and frequent unsanctioned protests by far-right groups are held in front of the camps.
There are an estimated 4,000 migrants stranded in Serbia, one of the main transit routes through the Balkans for people fleeing wars and poverty.”

“A cybersecurity firm says it has found a huge data leak affecting thousands of EU officials. A spokesperson for the European Parliament denies the claims.
Yash Kadakia, founder of Security Brigade and Shadow Map, said his group had found a major data breach. The security expert, a self-proclaimed “Code Monkey”, was able to easily access data and passwords from members. After Brussels denied the claims, Mr. Kadakia doubled down and revealed more details of the alleged breach.
Yesterday he tweeted: “This includes data & passwords of 200+ members of the European Parliament, European Council and European Commission. Also impacts 1000+ members of staff at the European Parliament.
“The data also includes 15,000+ users including journalists, members of a number of political parties and institutions.
“It also includes members of several European Union Institutions like the Europol, European Data Protection Supervisor, EUIPO, Frontex, etc.”
The claims of a breach has also been reported by Politico Europe.
A spokesperson for the European Parliament said they had investigated the claims. They said no Parliament accounts were involved.
A spokesperson for the European Parliament said: “We have been informed about these allegations. The possible incident has been looked into and we can confirm no official accounts or mailboxes of the European Parliament are involved.
“This information may be related to an old service account of a political group.”
In response to the European Parliament’s comments, Mr Kadakia told the Daily Express a breach had definitely occurred.
He then provided more details of the alleged breach.
He said: “I don’t think that statement would be accurate, the data certainly uses at least 2000 official accounts.
“I can confirm that there are at least 2000 [compromised] emails that use the h t t p : //europa . eu domain.
“The website itself was also hosted on a subdomain of h t t p: //europa . eu.”

“POLICE have issued an alert for a “dangerous individual” at large after a fatal stabbing in London.
Metropolitan Police were called to Russell Road in Haringey at 8.13 pm on Wednesday, May 13. The police discovered an injured man, 23-year-old Jemal Ebrahim, who was being treated at the scene by LAS medics. The man was quickly taken to a north London hospital where he died from his injuries.
Specially trained officers have informed Jemal’s next of kin.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Stancombe said the person responsible for the murder “remains in the community”.
Four men were arrested on Thursday 14 May on suspicion of causing an affray.
The men were aged 21, 24, 23, and 26 have been released on bail. They are due to return to court on a date in mid-June.

“BORDER patrol have intercepted at least three migrant boats this morning.
Despite the ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, migrants are still attempting dangerous journeys across the Chanel to the UK. The Border Force vessels Search and Hunter were involved in today’s interception, the BBC has reported.
BBC reporter Simon Jones tweeted: “17 migrants – including a baby and five children – were picked up by the French authorities and returned to France after their boat broke down in the Channel off Calais this morning.

Germany: Muslim kills his two children because his wife tried to break up with him
In the night on Friday, around midnight, police officers discovered two dead children in an apartment in Schwarzach. The suspected murderer is a father from Schwarzach, reports the Idowa portal, but without mentioning that the suspected murderer of the two children is the 36-year-old migrant Samir A.
According to an acquaintance, the latter had called in the night of Friday. Due to the telephone call, the woman was afraid that Samir A. had suicidal intentions. The police then checked the man’s home address and other known addresses. In the meantime, the 36-year-old Samir A. telephoned his former partner and mother of the two children, who lives separated from him. However, he did not inform her of his whereabouts.In the father’s apartment, the police discovered two children, a little boy aged 8 and his little 6-year-old sister. Both were found dead.
Based on the initial investigations by the Straubing criminal investigation department, the suspicion of the crime was directed against the 36-year-old father, who took turns with their mother to look after the children during the night. A large-scale search was initially unsuccessful, according to the police press release. Shortly before 4:00 a.m., the 36-year-old turned himself in to the police in Straubing and was arrested. The Straubing criminal investigation department investigates in close cooperation with the Regensburg public prosecutor’s office, also with regard to the exact course of the crime and the background.

“The European Union police agency Europol has warned that people-smuggling activities have surged as member-states soften lockdown measures to contain the spread of the Chinese coronavirus.
Europol stated that the spread of the coronavirus had led to a decline in new arrivals of illegal immigrants and people-smuggling, but noted the relaxation of travel restrictions in Europe was coinciding with a new wave of smuggling activity.
“Small boats are increasingly used to cross river borders. Migrants are also smuggled in, hidden in freight vehicles and freight trains that still cross borders,” the agency said, Ouest France reports.
Some European countries did not see illegal arrivals fall as lockdowns were introduced, of course, with the United Kingdom seeing record numbers of boat migrants crossing the English Channel from infectious camps on the French coast, and Boris Johnson’s government doing nothing to turn them back.
Europol also said that agriculture could be affected by the travel restrictions as seasonal migrant workers would find it more difficult to enter European countries, suggesting this would drive up demand for illegal migrant workers.
In Italy, a spokesman for illegal migrant labourers threatened a general strike if the Italian government did not grant amnesty to illegals, many of whom work in the Italian agricultural sector.
He was met with criticism by populist senator Matteo Salvini, who said: “The problem is that if we continue to regularise irregular immigrants we have slaves, I don’t want people to go to work in the fields for three euros an hour and the mass amnesty brings more exploitation.”
Italy has also seen a new surge in migrant arrivals in recent weeks via the Mediterranean Sea, with migrants landing on the island of Lampedusa and in Sicily.
Migrants arriving in Italy have been placed in quarantine due to the coronavirus, with the government recently hiring a ferry off the coast of Sicily to house the quarantined migrants.
A recent report revealed that Italian taxpayers were paying 4,000 euros a month per quarantined migrant.”

The Allahabad High Court has held that azaan, or the Islamic call to ritual prayer, can be recited by a muezzin from minarets of the mosques by human voice only without using any amplifying device or loudspeakers.
The court added that such recitation by human voice cannot be hindered under the pretext of violation of the guidelines issued by the state government to contain the spread of coronavirus.
It also said that one can’t use a loudspeaker for azaan without prior permission of district administration in accordance with the law.
“We are of the opinion that azaan may be an essential and integral part of Islam but its recitation through loudspeakers or other sound amplifying devices cannot be said to be an integral part of the religion warranting protection of the fundamental right enshrined under Article 25, which is even otherwise subject to public order, morality or health and to other provisions in part III of the Constitution,” the bench ruled.
“It cannot be said that a citizen should be coerced to hear anything which he does not like or which he does not require since it amounts to taking away the fundamental right of other persons,” the bench added.
However, the court shot down the state government’s contention that its recitation by human voice was violative of any provision of law.
“The government had not been able to explain as to how the recitation of azaan merely through human voice can be violative of any provision of law or any guidelines issued in view of Covid-19 pandemic,” it said.
The Bench, however, kept it open for petitioner to approach the district administration for permission to use loudspeaker for azaan. It added that one can’t use loudspeakers for azaan or for any other purpose without prior permission of district administration.
The bench of Justices Shashi Kant Gupta and Ajit Kumar thus disposed of a PIL filed by BSP MP from Ghazipur, Afzal Ansari, seeking lifting of ban on azaan from mosques in Ghazipur.
The petitioner’s plea was that there is no specific order in the central or state government guidelines to prohibit the recitation of azaan from the mosques. Therefore, the arbitrary decision taken by the district administration of Ghazipur to ban the prayer is illegal.
The state government’s contention, the petitioner argued, was that religious activity of any religious group through loudspeaker has been restricted in the entire Uttar Pradesh in view of the guidelines of lockdown.
Further, according to the state government , the Ghazipur district has been declared as hotspot area. Since azaan is a call for prayer on loudspeaker, hence it has been restricted in Ghazipur.
The state government, in its affidavit, has also submitted a list of instances which have been filed disclosing how people assembled in mosques in Ghazipur following a call through azaan and administration had a tough time to control the situation.
Azaan is recited by a ‘muezzin’, a man who calls Muslims to prayer from the minaret of a mosque at prescribed times of the day.

“The EU on Friday fired a fresh broadside at Turkey in a rumbling dispute over drilling for gas off Cyprus, accusing Ankara of “escalating” tensions.
The bloc has repeatedly urged Turkey to end its energy exploration off the island, saying the drilling is illegal because it infringes on EU member Cyprus’s exclusive economic zone.
Earlier this year the EU imposed an asset freeze and entry ban on two Turkish citizens involved in the operations, but Ankara has vowed to defy the criticism.
“We deplore that Turkey has not yet responded to the European Union’s repeated calls to cease such activities and reiterate our call on Turkey to show restraint, refrain from such actions, and respect the sovereignty and sovereign rights of Cyprus,” the bloc’s 27 foreign ministers said in a joint statement after talks.
According to AFP, the ministers welcomed Cypriot efforts towards talks on the dispute but said that “recent escalating actions by Turkey regrettably go in the opposite direction”.
The Turkish ship Yavuz has been drilling off Cyprus since late last month, and Ankara’s energy minister Fatih Donmez on Thursday said the work would not stop.
“Turkey is pressing ahead with its drilling and seismic activities… in the eastern Mediterranean without any pausing,” Donmez told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency on Thursday.
Rich gas deposits have been found in the seabed in waters claimed by both Cyprus and Turkey.
Turkey insists its oil drilling is in accordance with international law and has argued that its unrecognized north Cypriot ally should have a share in earnings.”
Migrants Die ‘Out of Sight’ in Mediterranean

“More and more migrants are crossing, Europe is closing its ports and no humanitarian ships are carrying out rescues. As the coronavirus pandemic dominates headlines, activists fear the Mediterranean is the scene of an overlooked “tragedy”.
A handful of migrant landings have taken place in recent weeks, including 79 people who arrived last weekend in Italy — a country under fire even before the outbreak for refusing to allow private vessels carrying migrants to dock.
International organizations and NGOs say the situation is bleak, as all rescue operations were ceased as of last week, Agence France Presse reported.
“If there is no help at sea and countries drag their feet to rescue and allow people to disembark, we’re going to end up with a fairly serious humanitarian situation,” said Vincent Cochetel, special envoy for the central Mediterranean with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
He estimates that 179 people have died in the area since January.
Italy and Malta closed their ports at the beginning of April as the pandemic hit Europe hard. At that time, only two rescue boats were in operation — the Alan Kurdi vessel run by the German NGO Sea-Eye, and Aita Mari chartered by the Spanish organization Maydayterraneo.
Both have now been grounded by the Italian coastguard for “technical” problems, a move denounced as unjustified by campaign groups, AFP said.
Meanwhile Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela said last month that he was under investigation for his role in the death of at least five migrants who tried to sail from Libya to Italy. A Maltese patrol boat allegedly cut the cables of the migrant dinghy’s motor.
The situation is all the more dire, Cochetel said, as departures from the Libyan coast have nearly quadrupled compared with the same period a year ago, with 6,629 attempts to reach Europe between January and the end of April.
The number of departures from Tunisia had more than doubled, Cochetel said.
“Whether or not there are (rescue) boats at sea, it has no influence on departures — this period of coronavirus has amply proven that,” he said.
He said that “75 percent of migrants in Libya have lost their jobs since the lockdown measures, which can lead to despair”.
Sophie Beau, general director of SOS Mediterranee, a French-based NGO that charters a rescue boat called the Ocean Viking, questions the motives behind the withdrawal of the two vessels.
“Two boats one after the other, it really raises questions about why they were seized,” she said.”
The Ocean Viking will return to sea “as soon as possible” despite the “criminalization” of aid groups, Beau said.
“It’s very dramatic… and counter to international maritime law, which requires us to help anyone in distress as quickly as possible,” Beau said.
“Now, as there are no witnesses, we don’t know the extent of the possible tragedy taking place” in the Mediterranean, she added.
The central Mediterranean “remains the most dangerous maritime migration route on Earth,” the International Organization for Migration warned.
“In the current context, risks that invisible shipwrecks are occurring out of sight of the international community have grown,” it said.
Beau warned that “managing the epidemic, closing ports and borders… in addition to these constraints, there is also the lack of a coordinated mechanism,” referring to the agreement on the distribution of migrants between European countries after they have disembarked.
The agreement was drawn up in Malta at the end of 2019 but has been slow to materialize.
In a joint letter sent to the European Commission and reviewed by AFP, the French, Italian, Spanish and German interior ministers called for the establishment of a “solidarity mechanism” for “search and rescue” at sea.
“Currently, a handful of member states carry an excessive burden, which shows a lack of solidarity and risks making the whole system dysfunctional,” they said in the letter.
Pending a European agreement, and in the absence of humanitarian vessels, 162 migrants are currently stranded at sea on two tourist vessels.”

The move comes as Saudi Arabia continues its attempt to diversify its portfolio to slowly wean itself off its dependence on oil.

Just two weeks ago, PIF bought a 5.7 percent stake for $500 million in entertainment company Live Nation on Monday, according to news reports.
Live Nation, parent company to Ticketmaster, saw its price shares plummet by over 40 percent since the beginning of the year, as public events around the world were cancelled due to the pandemic.
News of the PIF’s purchase of its 5.7 percent “passive” stake in Live Nation led to an approximate 10 percent rise in the company’s stocks on Monday, according to Billboard.
Prior to Live Nation, the PIF has bought a 8.2 percent stake for $775 million in the embattled cruise line Carnival. The company’s stock price tumbled after one of its cruise ships experienced a large Covid-19 outbreak.

The asylum seekers set off from Turkey’s Aegean coast off Canakkale province on a rubber boat. They wanted to reach Greece’s Lesbos Island.
The group, including nationals from Afghanistan, Somalia, and Central Africa, were caught by the Greek Coast Guard and pushed back to Turkish waters.
After rescuing them, Turkish officials gave them food and clothes.
The asylum seekers included two children and five women.
Turkey has been one of the main routes for asylum seekers wanting to reach Europe, especially since Syria’s civil war started in 2011.
The country hosts nearly four million Syrian refugees, more than any other country in the world.”

“Despite France dealing with the economic, psychological and human suffering wrought by the coronavirus, President Emmanuel Macron is moving forward with controversial plans to authorize the teaching of Arabic in schools across the nation in cooperation with Tunisian authorities.
On May 2, at the same time France was preparing to first week of the lockdown, a decree was published in relation to teaching Arabic in schools, which was signed by Macron, the Prime Minister Édouard Philippe and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, according to French outlet Valeurs Actuelles.
The law states that France “in cooperation with Tunisian authorities” would provide “additional education in the Arabic language”. Tunisia will also have a direct role in selecting teachers for the program in France.
“Depending on the needs of the language course, the government of the Tunisian Republic will select Tunisian teachers,” the text of the law reads.
According to the law, this educational option would ensure “linguistic diversity” in France and would initiate the teaching for Arabic in French schools from the 1st grade. Arabic is the second most spoken language in France, with between 3 to 4 million speakers.
Under the new law, the option to study Arabic would be made available to French students all the way up until university. Although optional, the decree specifies that the results from Arabic courses will be taken into account when evaluating each student. Not limited to simply learning Arabic, students will also study Arabic culture and civilization and “notable elements of Tunisian culture”.
‘The Arabization and Islamization of France is on the march’
Since the publication of the decree, indignation has flourished on all sides across social networks. On May 2, Jean Messiha, part of the National Rally, produced a statement on Twitter slamming the new law.
“By decree of April 30, 2020, the anti-national government plans to teach Arabic from elementary school at an age when children barely discover the French language. The Arabization and Islamization of France is on the march,” Messiha wrote.
For his part, Belkacem Lounès, former Rhône-Alpes EELV regional advisor and ardent defender of the Berber cause, attacked the minister violently on the Facebook page of Berbères TV, “We wonder what objective is pursuing the Minister of National education and the French government? Is this a way to appease, even to attract the sympathy of Islamists from here and elsewhere for whom Arabic is the sacred language of the Koran?”
Tensions about possible implementation of the law have been flaring on and off for nearly two years. In September of last year, Hakim El Karoui, essayist and founder of the Muslim Association for Islam in France, published a report in which he advocated teaching Arabic at school. According to him, integrating the language of Muhammad into the school system would allow the central state’s monopoly of learning be brought into a more local and community setting.
A few days later, Jean-Michel Blanquer, who had just been appointed Minister of National Education, claimed that he was won over by the proposal from El Karoui, writing, “We must give prestige to these languages. Arabic is a great literary language which should not only be learned by people of North African origin or from Arabic-speaking countries. It is this qualitative strategy that we will pursue.”
Marine Le Pen, president of the National Rally, vigorously rejected Blanquer’s proposal, saying, “Of course, there is a great Arab culture, but here is France, and I want us to learn French culture.”
Politicians like Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, president of Debout la France, told BFM TV, “This is the beginning of a fatal track for the country. I do not want the Arabization of France.”
The idea behind the decree actually dates back to a Franco-Tunisian agreement from March 31, 2017, initiated by Minister of National Education Najat Vallaud-Belkacem at the time for former Prime Minister François Hollande. Vallaud-Belkacem had previously denounced Greco-Latin language lessons, referring to them as elitist.”
