Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • Thanks for the link. I wonder though why so much is written about this phenomenon in Sweden. This has been reality in the Netherlands and Belgium since at least the ’90s. Muslim youth managed to shut down swimming pools in Rotterdam for example, due to incessant attacks on girls as young as 11, this included gang rapes. But not just in the cities either, a smaller place like Gouda was already notorious for this back then.

      As is the case in Sweden, a few books were written on the subject. One woman followed a gang for a while, she called these kids “little princes” because of their entitled attitudes. They’re put on a pedestal by their mothers, they think they’re real men at 13yo, and that their shit doesn’t stink.

      One journalist lived in Molenbeek for years and wrote 2 books about it. He predicted these kids would turn to terrorism at some point. He basically predicted the Paris/Bataclan attacks, and the Zaventem bombing, a decade before they happened. Sadly, nobody listened, he was ostracized.

      Sweden and Germany could have know what was in store for them, simply by looking at these countries (and France). But everybody looked away. And now that it’s more or less out in the open, what will be done? I don’t see any politicians taking action.

    Three people were slightly injured in a mass brawl in front of a kebab restaurant in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The men, aged 27, 29 and 54, were taken to hospital, according to police.

    The evening before, “a large number of people” had first verbally clashed in front of the snack bar. The argument escalated. The participants then beat each other with wooden slats, among other things. The area in front of the snack bar was devastated: Bar tables, flyers and various boxes lay on the floor.

    Officials noted the personal data, but there were no arrests. Now they’re investigating for aggravated assault and battery. According to the police, a total of 15 to 20 people were at the scene of the incident.

    According to initial investigations, a fight between the 29-year-old snack bar owner and his employees and a group of men had taken place. Investigations into the background are continuing.

    Shouldn’t doner kebab stands also be closed due to the corona virus, or are there special permits?

  3. Corona in Germany: Easter is cancelled, Ramadan event with 50000 participants is not !

    Christian Easter is cancelled in Germany, but the Muslim Ramadan is to take place as planned – so far. For example with a large-scale celebration, where about 50,000 Muslims will gather in Dortmund for three weeks to celebrate. Europe’s major Ramadan event in Europe with 50.000 visitors (!) will take place in the Westphalia Halls in Dortmund. Despite allegedly great dangers because of Corona virus and despite the fact that the churches were urged shortly before to cancel the Easter festival. And they have been intimidated, with very few notable exceptions. At least this is what the city of Dortmund said a few weeks ago.And up to the hour the festival is eagerly advertised, but a request to the organizer, who continues to announce the event, whether the event should continue, has remained unanswered so far. Also the city of Dortmund has received a press request from the internet portal PP, as soon as we get more information here, we will publish it here! The only concession to the contact and curfew, allegedly implemented for our safety, that the municipality has made so far: the whole thing does not take place in the open air, but in the halls.

  9. A 7-year-old girl was stabbed to death by a total stranger in a park in North-West England on Mother’s Day, March 22, as she rode her scooter at Queen’s Park, Heaton.

    Police say Emily Jones was with her family at a public park when a 30-year-old woman, who is now being held at a high-security facility under the Mental Health Act, was arrested for murder at the scene.

    The woman, whose name has yet been released, is reportedly a Somali migrant according to Voice of Europe.

    Other reports on social media and alternative media publications make the same claims over the woman’s nationality, while the mainstream media remained silent in an act that, to some, exposes a continual double standard in reporting when the victim’s identity cannot be exploited for political capital.

    Local media briefly covered the murder, but did not note that the suspect was a Somali migrant.

    Emily reportedly died around an hour after emergency services rushed her to hospital.

    Olaf Latzel (52 y/o) is a campaigner for the faith. The pastor of the St. Martini parish always has a crowded church for his controversial Sunday sermons. During the Corona crisis, at least 10,000 followers switch to his digital church services via telephone or Internet.

    But especially in the left-wing scene the evangelical man of God is a source of controversy. For five weeks he has been massively stalked and attacked. Latzel: “Unknown persons have scratched my car on all sides. The display case and the church door have been smeared with left-wing symbols and hate slogans.” At the beginning of March, 50 leftist protesters disrupted a church service. They handed out fake forms in front of the church for an immediate leaving of the church. Latzel: “Many parishioners were afraid, felt threatened.”
    And the terror continued. A full 10-liter yogurt bucket was thrown against the church door. A prankster ordered a car in the pastor’s name from a VW dealership. Especially bad: at Latzel’s digital live church services unknown hackers try to smuggle hate slogans and porn sites onto the homepage.

    The preacher: “I wonder what would happen if our church was actually a mosque? We are defencelessly at the mercy of these hostilities. The police come quickly. But all proceedings have been dropped so far.”

  17. Crowd in Ivory Coast destroys coronavirus testing centre in residential area

    Residents in a working-class district of the Ivory Coast city of Abidjan on Sunday destroyed a coronavirus testing centre that was under construction, police and health ministry officials said.

    Videos posted on social media, showed several dozen people dismantling the building, some of them shouting: “We don’t want it!”

    The incident happened in Yopougon district of the city of five million inhabitants, which is the country’s commercial capital.

    Locals had demonstrated against the centre because they thought it was too close to their homes and right in the middle of a residential district, one police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.

    But the building, which was still under construction, had never been intended as a treatment centre for virus patients – only as a testing centre, said a health ministry official, who also asked not to be named.

    This was the first violent incident connected to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, which so far appears to have been relatively untouched by the virus, at least according to official figures.

    They put the number of cases at 261, with three deaths so far.

    Nevertheless, the authorities are trying to increase their capacity to treat the outbreak.

    President Alassane Ouattara declared a state of emergency on March 23.

    Abidjan has already been placed under quarantine, effectively cut off from the rest of the country, and a nationwide overnight curfew is in force.

    Schools, churches and non-essential shops have been closed and gatherings have been banned.

    On Saturday, senior health officials recommended that people wear masks in public places to try to slow the spread of the virus.

    So far however, the government has not ordered a full lockdown.

    Last Tuesday, the government announced a 2.6-billion-euro plan ($2.8 billion) to tackle the economic and social effects of the pandemic, which is forecast to halve the country’s growth rate to 3.6 percent in 2020.

      A crowd returned on Monday, throwing rocks at police who dispersed it with tear gas.

      “They wish to kill us. We don’t need this centre right here,” mentioned protester Joel Blehi as he sheltered by a pharmacy after a gasoline canister was fired in his route.

      Police mentioned the hostility arose from a misunderstanding that sufferers with COVID-19 can be handled on the centre.

    The rockets targeted the site of Halliburton in the Burjesia area in the oil-rich Basra province, the military statement said. Two Iraqi security officials and one official at the state-run Basra Oil Company said five rockets at struck the area. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

    A rocket launcher was subsequently found on the Zubair-Shuaiba road by security forces, according to the statement, with 11 unused missiles that were later defused.

    No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the rocket fire. There was no significant damage, the military said, adding that Iraqi security forces in Basra are searching for the perpetrators of the attack.

    Halliburton is an American oil service provider working in the Zubair oil field, which is operated by the Italian ENI.

    Monday’s attack was the first since last summer to target U.S. oil companies working in the oil-rich south. A rocket struck a oil-drilling site in Basra last June, landing inside a compound housing energy giant Exxon Mobil, Shell and ENI. Three local workers were wounded in that attack.

    “The Taliban said their peace deal with the United States was nearing a breaking point, accusing Washington of violations that included drone attacks on civilians, while also chastising the Afghan government for delaying the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners promised in the agreement.

    The Taliban said they had restricted attacks against Afghan security forces to rural outposts, had not attacked international forces and had not attacked Afghan forces in cities or military installations. The Taliban said these limits on their attacks had not been specifically laid out in the agreement with the U.S. signed in February.

    The Taliban’s statement issued Sunday warned of more violence if the U.S. and the Afghan government continue alleged violations of the deal.

    U.S. military spokesman Col. Sonny Leggett in a tweet overnight denied the Taliban allegation, saying the U.S. forces in Afghanistan has “upheld and continues to uphold the military terms of the U.S.-TB (Taliban) agreement; any assertion otherwise is baseless.”

    In his tweet, Leggett called for Taliban to reduce violence and said the U.S. military will continue to come to the aid of Afghanistan’s security forces if attacked, in line with the agreement.

    Meanwhile, the militants said they had reduced their attacks compared to last year, but said continued violations would “create an atmosphere of mistrust that will not only damage the agreements, but also force mujaheddin to a similar response and will increase the level of fighting.”

    The Taliban have accused the Afghan government of using “indefensible arguments” to explain the repeated delays in releasing a promised 5,000 Taliban prisoners in exchange for 1,000 government personnel. The Afghan government’s foot-dragging has also left Washington frustrated.

    Meanwhile, in the Afghan capital, President Ashraf Ghani announced his new Cabinet even as he squabbles with his main political challenger over last year’s election results. Ghani’s move came even as Afghan mediators — including former President Hamid Karzai — shuttled between the president and his opponent, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, who has also declared himself Afghanistan’s president.

    The country’s Independent Election Commission has declared Ghani a winner, but Abdullah and the Elections Complaint Commission have charged widespread irregularities.

    Attempts to negotiate an end to the political turmoil roiling Kabul have made little progress, frustrating the U.S. and potentially derailing the next stage in the Afghan peace process. Washington has threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid this year if Ghani and Abdullah can’t reach a compromise.

    The Trump administration wants a quick start to intra-Afghan negotiations, the next step in the peace deal it signed on Feb. 29. It looked promising when Ghani announced his negotiating team last week, but Abdullah’s response to it has been lukewarm and the Taliban have rejected it as one-sided.

    The U.S. and NATO have already begun to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. The full withdrawal is expected to be completed in 14 months and is tied to Taliban commitments to fight terrorist groups and help in the battle against the Islamic State group.

    The withdrawal is not tied to the success of intra-Afghan negotiations, but U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had traveled to Afghanistan last month to try to break the impasse between Ghani and Abdullah. Pompeo left without a solution; however, last week he welcomed that the Afghan government had put together a negotiating team and made progress toward the prisoner releases.

    Those releases have stumbled even as the Taliban sent a three member team to Kabul last week.”

    “Some 50 migrants on Monday forced their way into Spain’s Melilla city over the fence that separates the European enclave in northern Africa, authorities there said.

    The central government’s delegation in Melilla, which borders Morocco, said that they were part of a group of around 250 migrants who launched a “massive and violent entry” into the city, scaling the fence and ignoring the Spanish law enforcement officers on guard.

    A Red Cross spokesman in the city said that volunteers had assisted several migrants with cuts and bruises at the gates of Melilla’s temporary migrant internment center, and that at least four of them had been transferred to a hospital with possible bone fractures and other ailments.

    One soldier from Spain’s Armed Forces was injured, the government’s delegation said.

    Melilla and nearby Ceuta are two tiny enclaves separated from Morocco by barbed-wire fences and constant border monitoring.

    At least 1,140 migrants entered the two enclaves by land without authorization in the first three months of the year, according to Spain’s Interior Ministry. That is 214 fewer than during the same period in 2019.”

    BEIJING (Reuters) – Mainland China reported 39 new coronavirus cases as of Sunday, up from 30 a day earlier, and the number of asymptomatic cases also surged as the government vowed tighter controls at land borders.

    The National Health Commission said on Monday that 78 new asymptomatic cases had been identified as of the end of Sunday, compared with 47 the day before.

    On Sunday, an Ohio Democratic state representative who was reportedly named a senior advisor to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in February tweeted that she wanted to prosecute President Trump at the International Criminal Court for “crimes against humanity” for pushing the drug Hydroxychloroquine as a solution for the coronavirus COVID-19.

    Rep. Tavia Galonski tweeted in response to someone accusing Trump of “pushing a drug that hasn’t been tested for coronavirus patients,” “I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been to The Hague. I’m making a referral for crimes against humanity tomorrow. Today’s press conference was the last straw. I know the need for a prosecution referral when I see one.”

    The Ohio Capital Journal reported:

    Asked by the Capital Journal if she legitimately intended to pursue this action, Galonski replied: “Yes!” Just how Galonski planned to initiate this plan, the representative was not at first sure. “I honestly have no idea,” Galonski told the Capital Journal on Sunday evening. “But how hard can it be?” She said her plan was to find out on Monday the referral procedure for reporting an alleged crime against humanity to The Hague.

    Galonski graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 1995 and served as a magistrate in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, according to her biography from the Ohio House of Representatives. She may have been unaware that The United States is not a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. United States participation in the ICC treaty regime would be unconstitutional because it would permit the ICC to try American citizens for crimes committed in America.

    As the American Society of International Law explains, President Bill Clinton signed the treaty, but also stated that he would not recommend that the next President submit the treaty to the Senate for its advice and consent “until our fundamental concerns are satisfied.” In May 2002, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld explained that the Administration had “a number of serious objections to the [International Criminal Court] – among them, the lack of adequate checks and balances on powers of the [Court’s] prosecutor and judges; the dilution of the U.N. Security Council’s authority over international criminal prosecutions; and the lack of any effective mechanism to prevent politicized prosecutions of American service members and officials.”

    Galonski followed her initial tweet with this one: “I need every lawyer that ever did any work on the international level to contact me at jt*****@*ol.com immediately. When we worked on international custody cases we had a cadre of lawyers working on the case. Suit up!”

    When one respondent tweeted, “Don’t forget disbanding an Indigenous Tribe, kidnapping children, putting them in cages, making babies stand trial, abusing them in those concentration camps, not giving them medical care so they die, oh and letting this pandemic slam into this population like Boris let it in U.K,” Galonski responded on Twitter, “Exactly. I have been boiling since I saw that. It will be part of the Complaint.”

    Galonski said of working for Biden, “As a former Teamster and as the proud daughter of a UAW worker, I know Joe always has and always will fight successfully for the respect working people deserve. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves to build out the strong support Joe already enjoys across Ohio because he has the empathy and experience that blue collar-strong towns like Akron need in the White House.”

  30. U.S. Will Give Terrorist Label to White Supremacist Group for First Time

    The designation of the Russian Imperial Movement reflects growing concerns among U.S. officials about violent white supremacists with transnational links.

    WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is expected to announce on Monday that it is designating an ultranationalist group based in Russia as a terrorist organization, according to officials. It is the first time the government will apply the label toa white supremacist group.

    While the label of specially designated global terrorist has been frequently used for Islamist extremists, there have been growing concerns among U.S. officials about violent white supremacists with transnational links over the past five years. In 2018, the White House added that threat to the government’s National Strategy for Counterterrorism.

    “These designations are unprecedented,” said Ambassador Nathan A. Sales, the State Department’s counterterrorism coordinator. “This is the first time the United States has ever designated white supremacists as terrorists, and this illustrates how seriously this administration takes the white supremacist terrorist threat. We are doing things no previous administration has done to counter this threat.”

    The State Department’s designation for the organization, the Russian Imperial Movement, sets up the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control to block any American property or assets belonging to the group. It will also bar Americans from financial dealings with the organization and make it easier to ban its members from traveling to the United States.

    The United States is also designating three of the group’s leaders — Stanislav Anatolyevich Vorobyev, Denis Valliullovich Gariev and Nikolay Nikolayevich Trushchalov — as individual terrorists who will face similar sanctions, the officials said.

    The authority for either the Treasury Department or the State Department to deem a group or an individual a specially designated global terrorist traces back to an executive order issued by President George W. Bush after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. President Trump in September signed an executive order expanding that authority to cover groups that provide training for terrorists even if the groups are not directly linked to any attack.

    The system parallels in some ways but is different from when the government designates a group as a foreign terrorist organization, which has separate criteria and applies only to groups rather than individuals.

    The move could cut against criticism that the Trump administration has played down the threat of white nationalist violence for political reasons, based on the so-called alt-right’s support for Mr. Trump and his statement in 2017 that there were “very fine people on both sides” of a deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

    The Russian Imperial Movement is not considered to be sponsored by the Russian government, officials said, although President Vladimir V. Putin has tolerated its activities and it has helped advance the Russian government’s external goals by recruiting Russian fighters to aid pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine.

    The group has also helped support neo-Nazi organizations in Scandinavia, which dovetails with the Russian government’s broader pattern of trying to stoke internal divisions, including along racial lines, and sow chaos in Western democracies.

    In 2017, the Russian Imperial Movement came up at a trial in Sweden of three men who were accused of plotting bomb attacks targeting asylum seekers. Prosecutors said two of the defendants had traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia, to attend 11 days of paramilitary training at a camp operated by the group, fueling their radicalization.

    Mr. Sales said the group operated two facilities in St. Petersburg that offered paramilitary training to neo-Nazis and white supremacists. He said the United States had assessed that the camps were “likely being used for woodland and urban assault, tactical weapons and hand-to-hand combat training.”

    Mary McCord, a former head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, said that until now, the counterterrorism sanctions system had overwhelmingly been used against Islamist extremist groups. She called its expansion to a white supremacist group significant.

    “It is important,” she said. “Far-right extremist causes, in particular white supremacy and white nationalism, have become more international. It is appropriate for the State Department to have been scrutinizing whether there are organizations that meet the criteria for that designation because with it, the organization becomes poison in terms of doing business with it or providing funds, goods or services to it.”

    The move is also another example of the Trump administration expanding its use of the power Congress granted to the executive branch to impose sanctions on groups by designating them foreign terrorist organizations. Last year, under a separate authority, the United States designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, an arm of the Iranian military, as a foreign terrorist group — the first time it gave that label to a nation-state entity.

    Concerns have been escalating for several years that there is a growing transnational white supremacist or alt-right movement, as illustrated by the 2019 mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, by an Australian man who streamed the killings of 51 people on Facebook Live.

    Against that backdrop, national security officials are said to have been searching for a neo-Nazi-style group that the U.S. government could designate as a foreign terrorist organization.

    One challenge to finding an appropriate candidate was that designating a group with significant American ties would also raise major First Amendment issues, officials said. Although a Russian Imperial Movement member has visited the United States, the organization does not appear to have domestic members. It is not clear if the group has provided training to U.S.-based neo-Nazis.

    Fighting domestic terrorism, including violent white nationalists, has become a priority for the F.B.I. Federal and local authorities have made a wave of arrests in recent months, targeting members of two neo-Nazi groups called Atomwaffen Division and The Base.

    The F.B.I. has been investigating whether the leader of The Base, who lives in St. Petersburg, has any ties to the Russian government’s security or intelligence services, former law enforcement officials said.

    Mr. Sales said they were continuing to look for other white supremacist groups or individuals who met the criteria for sanctions, but declined to comment on any specifics.

    The designation of the Russian Imperial Movement would make it easier for the F.B.I. to open sanctions-evasion investigations into Americans who appear to have ties to the group, just as it can with Islamist groups like Al Qaeda, the Islamic State or Hezbollah.

    The Trump administration is preparing to unveil the move under the banner of combating “racially or ethnically motivated terrorism.” The F.B.I. refers to such groups as racially motivated violent extremists, which have committed the “most lethal incidents among domestic terrorists in recent years,” the F.B.I. said last year in congressional testimony.

    What a year 2015 was. It carried a lot of freight for the melodrama of Spygate and the U.S. 2016 election. But it was also a big year for the Wuhan Institute of Virology; for a biotech company that works with the biosafety level-4 lab there; and for the exotic realm of gain-of-function research into coronaviruses – in particular those in the SARS family (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome viruses), like COVID-19.

    As is so often the case, we’re back looking at 2015 because of what’s happening in 2020. The course of communal human life has been brought to a screeching halt across the entire planet by the eruption among us of the COVID-19 coronavirus. In a mere eight weeks, the U.S. has gone from a roaring economy to a ghost town, uneasily aware that as things get worse, the system we’ve lived in for decades doesn’t have a way to combat-bridge us to a future of reliable expectations.

    There are too many tremendous implications to get into all of them.           I’m not sure what role China played in propagating the COVID-19 coronavirus in the last four or five months. But I have no doubt that taking WuXi private in 2015 was about preparing China, from some standpoint (offensive, defensive, or both), to wage biological warfare at a time of the CCP’s choosing in the non-distant future.

          If you look at the way China is going out of their way to offend the Australian’s, the Europeans and others you get the idea that the war she is talking about is going to happen real soon.     An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze after the emergency vehicle operated by West Midlands Ambulance Service went up on flames in the early hours of the morning. The crew was called to a home on Flash Lane in Trent Vale shortly before 1am on Monday. They attended and entered a property where they assessed a patient.

      Let’s be clear, although there have been many attempts to do so by scientists worldwide, so far, no one knows the origin of CoVid-19, the coronavirus strain responsible for the global pandemic.

      CoVid-19 has several unique features such as high-affinity human angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) receptor binding, a furin (polybasic) cleavage site and certain “open reading frame” derived proteins, all of which come together in a single organism to create an extremely contagious and often deadly virus.

      CoVid-19 is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans. Although the SARS-CoV coronavirus, responsible for the 2002-2003 pandemic, also binds to the human ACE2 receptor, none of the previously-identified human-infecting coronavirus strains is sufficiently similar to CoVid-19 to be designated its immediate relative or “progenitor.”

      Of the comparisons made between CoVid-19 and all of the other potential progenitors, including those identified in an article much-cited by the main stream media, none possess the furin (polybasic) cleavage site, which potentially makes it a marker in the search for the origin of CoVid-19, if other structural similarities are also present.

      Much like the climate change debate, there appears to be a politically-motivated campaign to demonstrate that CoVid-19 occurred naturally as a species “jump” from animals to humans originating in the Wuhan wet market. Despite an extraordinary effort, mainly by the Chinese government, and a flood of publications, there is still little evidence that directly supports that contention.

      An alternative interpretation is that CoVid-19 “leaked” out of a Wuhan laboratory, either as a yet undescribed or not fully sequenced natural coronavirus isolate e.g. bat coronavirus BtCoV/4991 (GenBank KP876546) or as one manufactured by combining the properties of multiple viruses and subjected to a sequential passage of the recombinant through live animal hosts.

      It is important to note that deadly viruses have previously “leaked” out of Chinese virology labs in two separate incidents.

      A 2004 outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) in China involved two researchers who were working with the virus in a Beijing research lab, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on April 26, 2004 and confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

      “We suspect two people, a 26-year-old female postgraduate student and a 31-year-old male postdoc, were both infected, apparently in two separate incidents,” said Bob Dietz, WHO spokesman in Beijing at the time.

      Synthetic biology, that is, the engineering of biology to create biologically-based systems that do not exist in nature is now widely used in laboratories worldwide. It has a number of benefits including as a rapid response platform to provide treatments for emerging diseases.

      If unregulated, however, such bioengineering can produce combined or “chimeric” novel human pathogenic microorganisms capable of circumventing therapeutics or vaccines and, if released in nature, could have dramatic and permanent effects on disease transmission among species via natural-occurring mutations of the new viral entity.

      The technology to create a coronavirus chimera has been demonstrated.

      In a 2015 collaborative study between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and American scientists, funded by the National Institutes of Health, properties of two different viruses, the SHC014-CoV coronavirus and a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV, the coronavirus responsible for the 2002 pandemic, were combined as a chimera. It produced a new viral entity, SHC014-MA15, which, according to the authors, “Despite predictions from both structure-based modeling and pseudotyping experiments” unexpectedly “was viable and replicated to high titers” [a lot] in cell culture (Vero cells) and was capable of infecting human airway epithelial (HAE) cultures [human lung surface cells] and “showed robust replication” comparable to the “epidemic SARS-CoV Urbani strain.”

      That is, with the appropriate starting coronavirus strains, it is theoretically possible to manufacture a CoVid-19-like chimera.

      Given the illness, death and economic destruction caused by CoVid-19, it is the responsibility of the Chinese government to fully open its research files and databases to international inspection, including information about the hundreds of coronavirus isolates, in order to ascertain the true origin of the Chinese CoVid-19 coronavirus.

    A spokesman said he was moved on the advice of his medical team and is receiving “excellent care”.

    The prime minister, 55, was admitted to hospital in London with “persistent symptoms” on Sunday.

    China has “defeated” the coronavirus and declared “victory,” Communist Party media tells us.

    A funny thing happened on the way to victory, however. The virus is hitting China in a second wave. The second wave is claiming victims, including the Party’s propaganda narratives. The most dangerous of these narratives is that ruler Xi Jinping, with heaven’s mandate, has an obligation to dominate the international system.

    China, after reporting no new infections on March 19, said the virus had been contained. Since then, Beijing has been reporting dozens of new cases each day but has maintained that virtually all of them were “imported” — in other words, the infected were individuals arriving from other countries.

    Of the very few in-country transmissions, most, Beijing maintained, were transmissions from the imported cases.

    China’s official numbers of deaths and new infections, however, must be bogus. Chinese officials are taking actions that are, as a practical matter, inconsistent with the no-new-infection reports.

    The move against the Russian Imperial Movement is the first time a white supremacist group has been named a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” group and comes amid doubts the administration believes extremist organizations of that type merit such sanctions. It was not immediately clear what the practical impact will be as the group is relatively small and does not have major international reach.

    Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his counterterrorism coordinator Nathan Sales announced the step, which makes it illegal for Americans to engage in any transactions with the group and freezes any assets it may have in U.S. jurisdictions. The penalties can also include a travel ban.

(Bloomberg) — Nearly half the supply of hydroxychloroquine to the U.S. comes from makers in India, a flow that has now been abruptly stanched after the Asian nation banned exports of all forms of the malaria drug touted by President Donald Trump as a “game changer” for treating the coronavirus.

    According to data compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence, 47% of the U.S. supply of the drug last year came from India makers. Only a handful of suppliers in the top 10 are non-Indian, such as Actavis, now a subsidiary of Israeli generics giant Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. It’s likely that some of their production facilities are nevertheless located in India, the biggest maker of generic drugs in the world.

    India’s export ban on the drug is aimed at ensuring it has enough supply for domestic use after the American president’s endorsement sparked global stockpiling of the medication. As the coronavirus pandemic widens globally, countries competing for supplies have enacted export bans or restrictions on goods from rice in Vietnam to face masks in Germany.
