Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

On local Global News tonight they said that a UBC professor who worked on the Sars virus, has come up with a vaccine against the Corvid19 virus, and he said it is being tried out in China, some patients with a placebo others with the vaccine, and that it should be ready in 6 weeks if it’s found to work. It sounded very promising.
    Sorry I don’t remember the scientist’s name it was European or Eastern European I think, but he works at UBC.

    • A cleavage mechanism seems to allow the virus to attach itself increadibly efficiently.

      Early on remember the talk of a possible HIV-related portion of the virus? This was where the lab-made suspicions derived from. HIV has a similar cleavage mechanism, if I understand it, so there’s some half truth here. The man-made portion still sounds a bit much like a fictional “insertion” to me despite knowing no bad deed is beyond a commie. And I still find it uncomfortably coincidental that the world-famous Canadian scientist who was in charge of the Winnipeg lab from which the Chinese spy stole specimens, turns up dead in Africa just as the pandemic starts to roll. So It’s sort of contradictory: not man-made, except the man who could have been instrumental in making it conveniently dies.

      • There are an lot of coincidences in this mess, I don’t like this many coincidences just like I don’t like conspiracy theories. One thing that is hampering all of us is not knowing what the current bio-engineering capabilities are.

      • It is wickedly infectious.
        The HIV “smoking gun” was creative writing. (Though Tom Clancy’s fiction came close to prediction at times.)

        It is “cleavage”: A virus infects by attaching itself to human cells along sets of binding sites. All viruses have many of these sites in common. The CoV-19 match was one in four that shared >60% sites common to HIV.

        Literally HUNDREDS of viruses on the NCBI database have matches at >60%. Why choose HIV? Why promote bogus statistics? (Because it’s fun?)

        Why drugs that work for HIV look promising?

    The head of Iran’s Parliamentary Security and Foreign Relations Commission Mojtaba Zonnour has said he has tested positive for coronavirus.

    In a statement published by the IRIB broadcaster via Telegram, the official confirmed the development saying that he had been quarantined.

    Earlier, another lawmaker, Mahmoud Sadeghi, wrote on Twitter that his corona test had been positive.

    The total number of coronavirus cases in Iran has reached 139 of with 19 deaths from the virus so far.

    The coronavirus, officially named COVID-19, originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late December and has so far infected more than 82,200 people, resulting in the deaths of over 2,800 people.       A local cleric from the Iranian city of Qom has suggested a novel cure for the new coronavirus – the pre-bedtime rectal administration of violet leaf oil.

      Users on Twitter describe how the Ayatollah Tabrizian has publicly denounced Western medicine as “un-Islamic”.
      In a post to over 120,000 followers on the social messaging service Telegram, Tabrizian, a purveyor of traditional Islam medicine, listed several alternative techniques for fighting the spread of the contagious disease, known as Covid-19.

      According to an Iranian news site, which obtained a screenshot of the message, Tabrizian recommends consuming copious amounts of brown sugar, burning wild rue, as well as inhaling snuff.

      His eighth tip is the most striking: “Before bedtime, drench some cotton in violet oil and apply onto your anus.…”

  10. WATCH: Refugees terrorize citizens with acts of violence and Allahu Akbar shouts and demand to be allowed into Germany

    esterday, Johannes Huber MdB, member of the German Parliament (AfD), shared a video on his Facebook account, which within a very short time spread enormously in the social network. And it shows footage that has been deliberately withheld from us by state-run broadcasters and mainstream media for years. The video is entitled: “Refugee Attack in Bosnia”. And further: “At the Croatian-Bosnian border: aggressive migrants all demand to go to Germany”

    “Here you can now see some of these peaceful refugees, who resemble more a mob of Islamist fighters than poor refugees in need of protection. They are running here armed with sticks aggressively and domineeringly ? in the streets, shouting Allahu Akbar and other Islamic slogans…”
    The images and recordings of the video are very remarkable when it comes to the (often Islamic motivated) propensity to violence of certain migrant groups. However, the video consists of a compilation of various sequences from different places and at different times. Most of the scenes are not current, easily recognizable by the season (summer) in which the footage was recorded. What is true, however, is that the German mainstream media have been hiding such footage from us for years. And yet they are an integral part of the overall complex of the so-called refugee crisis.

    I know this info is not so interesting for the general readership here, but I find it interesting in terms of how different countries react to this thing. How strictly do they control their borders? How do they safely repatriate nationals from other countries? Etc.

      Italy: well-drawn cartoon characters of couples in 4 configurations (MF, FF, MM, FF) engaged in various sex acts, color-coded blue and red for risk. These posters seemed to be available all over.
      Israel: printed information when leaving the country about an illness that “exists abroad.” Household mailings elsewhere.

    “Judges in Germany have told a Muslim law clerk that she can be prevented from wearing a head scarf during court proceedings.

    Germany’s highest bench, the Federal Constitutional Court, ruled that the judiciary’s obligation to complete neutrality outweighed her freedom of religion rights.

    The Frankfurt-born woman of Moroccan heritage sued after she became a legal clerk in 2017 and was restricted as to what she could do by Hesse state authorities.

    She was allowed to wear her head scarf, but was prohibited from following court proceedings from the bench while wearing it, and instead had to sit among the courtroom observers.

    She was also unable to take evidence from witnesses or lead any courtroom sessions.

    Other German states such as North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Berlin have similar regulations, dpa new agency reported.

    There is no guidance in other regions because the issue has never come up or has been dealt with case-by-case.

    In 2017, a German judge told a Syrian woman she had to remove her Islamic head scarf in court during a divorce hearing or she would not be able to legally separate.

    The judge warned there was no place for religious symbols in the courtroom.

    In addition, eight German states currently maintain restrictions on wearing the hijab by female teachers, after a 2015 decision by Germany’s Constitutional Court overturned a blanket ban on teachers wearing hijabs, ruling that it was against religious freedom.

    Earlier this month a German court overturned a school’s niqab ban after a 16-year-old girl was told she had to show her face to teachers.

    Hamburg education officials had ordered the girl’s mother to ensure that her daughter did not wear the veil at school, a decision which an administrative court overturned.

    Civil servants and police officers have already been banned from wearing the niqab, burka or hijab or any religious symbol, but this has not previously extended to members of the public.”

    “The only place in the world where fighters linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group are cooperating is in West Africa’s sprawling Sahel region, giving the extremists greater depth as they push into new areas, according to the commander of the U.S. military’s special forces in Africa.

    “I believe that if it‘s left unchecked it could very easily develop into a great threat to the West and the United States,” U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Dagvin Anderson told The Associated Press in an interview this week.

    The leader of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa described the threat even as the Pentagon considers reducing the U.S. military presence in Africa.

    Experts have long worried about collaboration between al-Qaida and the Islamic State group. While the cooperation in the Sahel is not currently a direct threat to the U.S. or the West, “it’s very destabilizing to the region,” Anderson said.

    He spoke on the sidelines of the U.S. military’s annual counterterrorism exercise in West Africa, currently the most active region for extremists on the continent.

    The alarming new collaboration in the Sahel between affiliates of al-Qaida and IS is a result of ethnic ties in the region that includes Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.

    “Whereas in other parts of the world they have different objectives and a different point of view that tends to bring Islamic State and al-Qaida into conflict, here they’re able to overcome that and work for a common purpose,” Anderson said, emphasizing that it’s a local phenomenon.

    The cooperation allows the extremist groups to appeal to a wider audience in a largely rural region where government presence is sparse and frustration with unemployment is high.

    The past year has seen a surge in deadly violence in the Sahel, with more than 2,600 people killed and more than half a million displaced in Burkina Faso alone.

    Al-Qaida is the deeper threat both in the region and globally, Anderson said.

    “Islamic State is much more aggressive and blunt, and so in some ways they appear to be the greater threat,” he said. But al-Qaida, which continues to quietly expand, is “for us the longer strategic concern.”

    Al-Qaida has been successful at consolidating efforts in northern Mali and moving south into more populated areas “and taking various groups and galvanizing them together into a coherent movement,” Anderson said.

    The most prominent of those affiliates is a coalition of al-Qaida-linked groups known as JNIM with about 2,000 fighters in the region, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

    West Africa’s Sahel, the vast strip of land just south of the Sahara Desert, for years has struggled to contain the extremist threat. In 2012, al-Qaida-linked fighters seized large swaths of northern Mali. French forces pushed them from strongholds in 2013 but the fighters have regrouped and spread south.

    The largest IS affiliate in the region, Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, emerged more recently and claimed responsibility for killing four U.S. soldiers in Niger in 2017. The attack led to an outcry in Washington and questions about the U.S. military presence in Africa.

    Between the advances of al-Qaida and IS-linked fighters, once-peaceful Burkina Faso has become the latest front for what experts call an alarming rate of deadly attacks.

    The al-Qaida affiliates visit areas in advance to “engage with key leaders in key locations to recruit early,” Anderson said. Others move in later.

    The fighters are funding themselves with kidnapping for ransom as they attempt to control access to markets via taxation methods, he said. They also are likely eyeing what has been a source of income for centuries: gold.

    “I believe they’d be happy to be able to control some of the artisanal mines and the other mines in the area, especially the gold and other precious metals that are easily transportable,” Anderson said.

    While al-Qaida affiliates work toward establishing safe havens, the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara is working to destabilize local governance, control territory and rally people to their cause, he said.

    The strategy for countering the growing threat from the patchwork of Islamic extremist groups is a whole-of-governance one that goes beyond military efforts, Anderson said: “There’s no easy answer.”

    Many young men in the largely impoverished region feel isolated from the government and are drawn in by extremists’ promises of employment and purpose.

    “Al-Qaida, whether we agree with it or not, brings some level of justice to many of these areas, and some level of services that aren’t provided by central governments,” Anderson said. “And they provide some representation to minority groups that don’t feel part of the larger community, such as the Fulani or the Tuareg.”

    African partners need to invest in governance, he emphasized, though international involvement is necessary.

    The French lead the military effort in the Sahel with more than 5,000 forces and they hope to bring in more European partners.

    But the French have urged the U.S. to reconsider any cuts to its already small military footprint of about 1,400 personnel in West Africa. The U.S. has about 6,000 personnel on the continent.

    Anderson countered that the U.S. is already doing a lot in the Sahel through the State Department, a large USAID presence and investment. “Instead of looking at the size of the presence, I think we should look at what is the appropriate engagement across the government, from all levels,” he said.

    With very small engagement, the U.S. can still help countries develop the capabilities to build coalitions and share intelligence, Anderson said.

    “It’s going to take all these nations working together, but also it’s going to have to be African solutions to an African problem,” he said.”

    Spokesman for Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (JDP), Omer Celik, has warned that if the Syrian Army does not return to the demilitarised lines in Idlib Province set by the Sochi agreements, Turkish forces will act.

    “Our staunch stance on Idlib remains unchanged. We have completed all preparations. When the time given to [Damascus] to withdraw to pre-determined lines expires, the Turkish Armed Forces will do what is necessary. Nobody should question Turkey’s determination about this issue”, Omer Celik said.

    The JDP’s spokesman comments come hot on the heels of reports of Turkey redeploying tanks from across the country towards the border with Syria for their subsequent transfer to the Arab Republic’s Idlib Province.

    Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Ankara wouldn’t take the “smallest step back” in Idlib and demanded Syrian troops to withdraw from the vicinity of the country’s observation posts in the region.

    “Mohammed Zahir Khan, 42, was due to be freed from prison on 28 February, after serving half of his sentence for encouraging terrorism. He was jailed in May 2018 for posting in support of Daesh online and calling for a “year of fear.”

    Emergency legislation to block the automatic release of people who were convicted of terror offences has come into law.

    Around 50 prisoners who were due to be released after serving half of their sentences will now have to wait until they have done two-thirds of their jail time and are considered fit for release by the Parole Board.

    The legislation was rushed through Parliament – and given Royal Assent on 26 February – after Sudesh Amman was gunned down by police as he stabbed shoppers in Streatham, south London earlier this month.

    Amman, 20, had been staying in a bail hostel after being released from prison, where he served half of a three year sentence he was given in December 2018 for sharing terrorist material.

    There was widespread public alarm that Amman had been allowed out and the government pushed through the Terrorist Offenders (Restriction of Early Release) Bill.

    The Bill does not apply to Northern Ireland but the government said there was no need for “immediate measures” in Ulster as none of the 50 were serving their sentences there.

    The first person whose release will be delayed will be Mohammed Zahir Khan, a shopkeeper from Sunderland in north-east England, who was convicted of spreading *Daesh propaganda online.

    Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said on Wednesday: “No terrorist should be released early only to kill and maim on our streets. Protecting the public is the government’s first duty and our message is clear – enough is enough.

    “From today, terrorist offenders will only be released before the end of their sentence if the independent Parole Board is satisfied they no longer pose a threat, and they will face the strictest possible conditions and monitoring upon release.”

  35. Court hands Trump win in sanctuary city fight, says administration can deny grant mone

    A federal appeals court on Wednesday handed a major win to the Trump administration in its fight against “sanctuary” jurisdictions, ruling that it can deny grant money to states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

    The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York overturned a lower court ruling that stopped the administration’s 2017 move to withhold grant money from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which dispenses over $250 million a year to state and local criminal justice efforts.

    Richard: The 9th Circuit Court (Left Coast) says they can’t withhold the money, 2nd Circuit Court (Northeast) says they can withhold the money. With two Circuit Courts giving different rulings this is headed to the Supreme Court and probably very quickly. SCOTUS will probably support the President which will make the liberals very mad.

    The Sanctuary Cities are one of the reasons so many people think that the US is destined to endure a Wuhan Flu pandemic, they are allowing potientally infected illegal immigrants to run wild in their cities.

  36. CDC confirms first possible community transmission of coronavirus in US

    U.S. health officials confirmed the first possible community transmission of the coronavirus in America, a troubling sign that the virus could be spreading in local cities and towns.

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention doesn’t know exactly how the California patient contracted the virus. The individual is a resident of Solano County and is receiving medical care in Sacramento County. The patient didn’t have a relevant travel history or exposure to another patient with the virus, the CDC said Wednesday.

    “At this time, the patient’s exposure is unknown,” the CDC said in a statement. “It’s possible this could be an instance of community spread of COVID-19, which would be the first time this has happened in the United States.”

    In a note to staff at UC Davis Medical Center, CEO David Lubarsky confirmed that the CDC is investigating a patient at the center who may be the first to have contracted the infection from community exposure.

    WASHINGTON — Hillary Clinton raked in more cash from convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein than any other politician despite brushing off his donations by claiming he gave money to “every” Democrat.

    Federal Election Commission filings show the disgraced movie mogul bundled $1.4 million for Clinton during her presidential bid in 2016 and handed her another $73,390 dating back to her 1999 New York Senate run.

    On Tuesday, the former first lady defended her long relationship with the sex creep, quickly deflecting scrutiny from reporters by noting that Weinstein also raised funds for Barack Obama, John Kerry and Al Gore during their presidential bids.

    “He contributed to every Democrat’s campaign,” Clinton said at a screening of her new film “Hillary” at the Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday, one day after Weinstein, 67, was found guilty on rape charges.

    “He contributed to Barack Obama’s campaign, and John Kerry’s campaign and Al Gore’s campaign and everybody’s campaign,” Clinton added.

    The Miramax founder raised $72,100 for Obama but only bundled $679,000 for his 2012 re-election bid — half of what he raised for Clinton, the FEC data shows.

  38. U.S., South Korea postpone annual military drills due to coronavirus

    The U.S. and South Korea are postponing their annual joint military drills amid concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. The postponement was announced in a statement Thursday by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff and the U.S. military.

    South Korea has the second largest number of reported infections after China with almost 16,000 cases. 21 cases have been reported among the country’s military, which has resulted in quarantines of soldiers and military facility closures. A single case was reported among U.S. troops stationed near the outbreak’s epicenter in the city of Daegu.

    Democratic 2020 candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2011 promoted an editorial arguing that “the American dream is more apt to be realized” in Venezuela than in the U.S.

    Sanders’s Senate office posted the editorial, which local Vermont newspaper the “Valley News” published on his Senate website under the “Must Reads” section.

    “These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger,” the editorial stated. “Who’s the banana republic now?”

    Sanders’s campaign didn’t return a Daily Caller News Foundation email seeking comment on whether he believes the American dream is more alive in Venezuela, where many citizens are starving, than in America.

    On Monday, an Iranian lawmaker in the Iranian city of Qom reported that at least 50 people who reside in the city have died from the coronavirus, alternatively referred to as COVID-19. Ahmad Amiriabadi Farahani (pictured above) made the shocking revelation to media outlets and his claim was carried by Iran’s semiofficial ILNA news agency.

    The city of Qom is considered to be a holy city by some Iranians and others who practice Shia Islam. That is significant because the city attracts devout Shia pilgrims and tourists, making it a transit point for spreading the virus to other regions. Indeed, despite quarantining efforts, the virus has already spread to other Iranian cities, and infected travelers coming from Iran have already been reported in Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Oman and Bahrain.

    Farahani’s claim was immediately contradicted by Iran’s Deputy Health Minister, Iraj Harirchi, who at a press conference claimed that only 12 people died and 47 were infected. He further stated that he would resign if Amiriabadi’s claim was substantiated.

    In an ironic twist, the following day, Iran’s health ministry announced that Harirchi was infected and under quarantine. This after he was seen coughing on those adjacent to him during the previous day’s press conference. The person entrusted with thwarting the spread of the COVID-19 virus was now its victim, an ominous development that does not inspire confidence. The ministry has since revised its statistics, noting that deaths from infections had climbed to 19 while 139 people were infected across Iran.
