According to the former head of Romanian intelligence, Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, one of the highest ranking communist defectors of all time, Rahman al-Qudwa became an important political ally of the communist bloc following the death of Egypt’s president, Gamal Abdul
Nasser, in 1970. Gen. Pacepa’s account of Rahman’s intimate relations with the communist bloc is related in a book entitled “Red Horizons.”
As it happens, Pacepa tells us that the communists trusted Rahman because he was a voracious homosexual. This alone made him a workable Kremlin puppet, because once the Romanian intelligence services had taped Rahman’s sex sessions with men and boys, he was completely in
their hands. Afterwards, Rahman’s friendship for the communist bloc would be permanent — if he valued his growing popularity in the Arab world.
Rahman al-Qudwa is better known as Yasser Arafat, the chairman of the PLO since 1968 and the president of the Palestinian Authority — which is now at war with Israel. According to Gen. Pacepa’s account, communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu ordered his people to bring Arafat
over to Romania. In late 1970 the chief of Romanian intelligence in Egypt, Gen. Constantine Munteanu, arrived in Bucharest with Arafat in tow. Munteanu had gathered an extensive file on Arafat, which characterized the PLO leader as “so much cleverness, blood, and filth all together in one man.” Pacepa says that this was Munteanu’s
“standard definition of Arafat.”
Given Gen. Munteanu’s extensive file, Arafat could not exactly refuse the communist’s “friendly” overtures. There is little question that Arafat is fanatically devoted to destroying Israel, and would sell his soul to the devil to gain his devilish ends. Therefore, a compact between Arafat and the Soviet Union via communist Romania was not something that violated any sacred Islamic rule in Arafat’s heart. Arafat is no Moslem. His fanaticism is completely secular. But since he operates within the Islamic world, he must sometimes appear as a would-be Muslim liberator.

LNA’s Haftar Says He’s Ready for Ceasefire if ‘Turkish Troops, Mercenaries’ Withdraw From Libya (sputniknews, Feb 21, 2020)

“Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander of the Libyan National Army, has set out conditions to ensure a ceasefire in the country. Haftar said that Syrian and Turkish mercenaries must pull out from the country and Ankara must halt the supply of arms to Tripoli.
“Unfortunately, a temporary ceasefire is being used by Turkey and the [Tripoli-based Prime Minister Fayez] Sarraj government to transfer a large number of Syrian mercenaries, Turkish soldiers, terrorists, and weapons to Tripoli by sea and air. It is a violation of the ceasefire”, the LNA commander said.
The military commander said that the LNA supports the European Union countries’ naval patrols that prevent Turkey from transporting weapons and fighters to Tripoli.
Haftar went on to say that the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj had suspended its participation in the UN-sponsored Geneva talks on orders from Turkey and Qatar.
“Sarraj receives orders from Ankara and Doha, and he can do nothing with it. The evidence is [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan’s statements, in which he stressed the need for the GNA to withdraw from the Geneva talks,” Haftar said.
The LNA commander added that Sarraj’s GNA was dependent “on militias and terrorist groups” in Libya as well as on Turkey and Qatar.
According to Haftar, the LNA is open to all peace initiatives that could achieve security and stability on Libyan soil and supports actions conducted by the UN Support Mission in Libya and its head Ghassan Salame.
At the same time, he stressed that the LNA is losing patience over the rival GNA breaching the truce.
“Our patience is running thin regarding repeated truce breaches by [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and [GNA Prime Minister Fayez] Sarraj’s mercenaries and their failure to fulfill their Berlin obligations,” Haftar said.
On Wednesday, the GNA suspended intra-Libyan talks on military issues in Geneva in response to the LNA’s shelling of the port of Tripoli on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Haftar’s armed forces have said they had targeted a weapons and ammunition depot in Tripoli in response to ceasefire violations committed by terrorist groups.
Since Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was deposed and murdered in 2011, Libya has effectively sunk into chaos. The North African nation currently has two governments. The east is controlled by an elected parliament acting independently from Tripoli and allied with Khaftar’s army. The western part of the country, including the capital, is under the control of the Government of National Accord, backed by the UN and the European Union.”

There is no confirmation to reports that “about a million” refugees are moving from the de-escalation zone in Idlib to the Syrian-Turkish border, the head of the Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria, Rear-Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev said.
“The information about the alleged ‘hundreds of thousands’ of civilian residents of the province heading for the Syrian-Turkish border because of military clashes between terrorists and the Syrian government forces in the east of the province is not true,” he said.
There have been no “verifiable photos or video recordings” that would prove this exodus, Zhuravlev said.
Transport routes in Idlib have been working as usual these past few weeks, which has made it possible to move weapons and cargo transport with ammunition from Turkey into the area, he added.
Earlier this week, the Russian Defence Ministry said that militants loyal to Ankara and supported by Turkish artillery had attacked the defences of the Syrian army near the villages of Qmenas and Nerab in Idlib. Russia’s Su-24 aircraft fired at the militants and helped the army repel the attack. According to the Turkish Defence Ministry, two Turkish soldiers were killed and five more injured in the attack in Idlib, while more than 50 Syrians were killed in the retaliatory fire.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow sees the incident as a “violation of the Russian-Turkish agreements on separating armed opposition from terrorists and creating a demilitarised area.””

“A new report by a French lawyer claims that one in five judges that have sat on the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the last decade had ties to a network of social justice organisations led by George Soros.
Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s right-wing National Rally party, has called on Emmanuel Macron to stop abiding by the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
“Faced with these extremely serious revelations, [Emmanuel Macron] can no longer remain silent,” Le Pen tweeted on Wednesday, calling on France’s Court of Cassation and Council of State (a body advising the government on legal matters) to stop heeding the ECHR’s decisions.
“A free state must act against these anti-democratic manipulations!” she added.
Her comment came in response to a report by French lawyer Grégor Puppinck, who sits on the committee of experts on the reform of the ECHR and leads the European Centre for Law and Justice (click here to view).
Undisclosed conflicts of interest?
It claims that at least 22 of the 100 judges that had served on the ECHR between January 2009 and October 2019 had “strong links” to one of seven NGOs linked with George Soros prior to their appointment to the court, with roles varying from “official responsibilities” to “meaningful” participation in the activities of those organisations.
Moreover, 18 of the 22 judges are said to have heard cases involving the NGO with which they had been involved – something that could amount to a conflict of interest.
According to Puppinck, those NGOs are the AIRE Centre (Advice on Individual Rights in Europe), Amnesty International, the International Commission of Jurists, the Helsinki Committees for Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, Interights (International Centre for the Judicial Protection of Human Rights), and “various branches” of the Open Society Foundations itself.
He said he had obtained most information about those links from the CVs of future judges published online by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The PACE elects judges to the ECHR from lists of three candidates proposed by each member state to the European Convention on Human Rights. Those judges hear cases as individuals and do not represent their state, which means that the candidates for the position typically come from NGOs and international bodies because they are more likely to be impartial.
However, the report points out, that practice is “compounded by the importance of the presence and influence of certain NGOs in ‘small’ countries” like Albania, where the Open Society Foundations has spent $131 million since 1992 and where it secured two of the three candidates for an ECHR position in 2018.
NGOs are also allowed to intervene in ECHR hearings as a third party, but Puppinck wrote that there is a lack of transparency around the extent of their real involvement with the court as well.
What was the reaction in France?
The report has been picked up by French conservative magazine Valeurs Actuelles, which claimed the 22 judges in question had allowed George Soros to effectively “infiltrate” the court and influence its decisions.
The magazine cited rulings in favour of same-sex second-parent adoption in Austria and Greece; French male-to-female transgender persons who protested against the sterilising surgery required to have their new gender recognised; Russian activists from Pussy Riot who had a ‘punk prayer’ at a Russian Orthodox church; the review of whole life sentences in Hungary, and the application of Sharia law in Greece to solve inheritance disputes between Muslims.
Jerome Riviere, a National Rally member and leader of the French faction in the Eurosceptic bloc Identity and Democracy in the European Parliament, told Valeurs Actuelles that he was “not surprised” with the report because George Soros “aims to destroy nations and, more broadly, all the structures which are the foundation of our civilisation: the family, the homeland, authority, love of one’s history”.
“The mere fact that a European Court of Justice can condemn nations is an anti-democratic scandal,” he said. “Unelected judges arrogate to themselves the power to assess and interpret, without constraint, a text that leads to the creation of law, when their role is merely to say what the law is.”
Nicolas Bay, National Rally Secretary General and vice chair of Identity and Democracy, has said that France needs to “get out” of the court.
“Guided by George Soros and his agenda to impose an ‘open society’, the ECHR has become the embodiment of the government of judges against the will of the people,” he noted. “In the light of these damning revelations, it is more than ever necessary to get out of it.”
Philippe de Villiers, a former French MEP from the Eurosceptic Movement for France, said that Soros’s “ability to penetrate European bodies is due to the fact that it is globalised private interests that govern Europe.”
“The Open Society Foundations is therefore more powerful than a country like France. George Soros is much more powerful than Emmanuel Macron,” he stated. “Moreover, the nickname given to him in Brussels speaks for itself: ‘the puppet master’.”
The ECHR and the Open Society Foundations have yet to comment.”

Soft-touch Britain: Offenders spared jail despite committing same offence DOZENS of times (express, Feb 21, 2020)

“CONVICTED criminals are being spared jail terms despite committing the same serious offence dozens of times, new figures revealed last night. Police data released in Parliament showed courts gave suspended sentences and community penalties to offenders with long records of knife crime, assault and burglary.
Tory MP Philip Davies, who obtained the information by tabling a series of Commons Written Questions, said the statistics showed the legal system had been “hijacked” by soft-touch judges and magistrates. “These figures will leave people wondering what on earth a criminal has to do in this country to get put in jail,” the senior backbencher said.
The data from the Police National Computer, released by the Ministry of Justice, showed one offender was given a non-custodial community penalty for possession of a blade or other sharp implement despite 30 previous convictions or cautions for the same offence.
Another thug was ordered to pay compensation for an assault without being jailed even though their record included 56 previous assaults.
A sex offender was given a suspended sentence for sexual assault despite 15 previous similar crimes.
And a gang of three burglars were given non-custodial sentences for burglary even though they had committed the offence 74 times before.
One of the gang was given a suspended jail term while the others were handed community penalties.
Separate figures from the Ministry of Justice, released in a quarterly update yesterday, showed a fall in the custody rate following criminal trials last year.
Just 6.4 percent of the 1.2million offenders convicted in the 12 months to last September were jailed, down from 6.8 percent the previous year.
A total of 32.1 percent of offenders convicted of indictable offences – those tried in crown courts – were jailed over the same period, down from 32.6 percent over the same period.
Mr Davies, MP for Shipley, said: “These figures prove just how difficult it is to be sent to prison in the UK.
“Most of the public would be absolutely horrified that people who are both serious and persistent offenders are not being sent to prison by the courts.”
Mr Davies, who is due to discuss his concerns with Justice Secretary Robert Buckland when MPs return from Parliament’s half-term break, urged the Government needed to strengthen sentencing rules and suggested the legal profession needed overhauling.
“Parliament needs to be passing stiffer sentences. The criminal justice system has been infiltrated by liberal Lefties at every level, throughout the legal profession right up to the judges,” Mr Davies said.
“The courts have been hijacked. They are basically undermining everything the criminal justice system is supposed to stand for.
“Public confidence in the system is at risk of being destroyed,” he added.
Other figures obtained by Mr Davies showed that 42 percent out of around 20,000 offenders jailed for the first time in the 12 months up to last March had previously been given non-custodial sentences for earlier law-breaking.
Out of around 41,000 criminals jailed for a second time over the same period, 87 percent had previously been given non-custodial sentences for past law breaking.
One in 20 of that total had been given five or more non-custodial sentences in the past.
Responding to the figures obtained by Mr Davies, a Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “We are bringing in tough new laws to better protect our communities and make sure the most serious offenders spend longer behind bars.
“This includes moving automatic release from halfway to the two-thirds point for adults serving more than four years for serious violent or sexual offences.”
Officials also point out that sentencing decisions are a matter for the independent judiciary who consider the full facts of each case.
Boris Johnson has promised new sentencing laws to ensure the most serious offenders spend longer behind bars.
The Prime Minister has also committed the Government to creating 10,000 more prison places in jails in England and Wales…”

“Former Attorney General Eric Holder lashed out at a conservative journalist Wednesday, telling the reporter to ‘shut the hell up’ about donations a federal prosecutors allegedly made to Barack Obama.
Author and journalist Paul Sperry shared a tweet on Tuesday discussing Molly Gaston, the federal prosecutor in question, and the announcement that the investigation into former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe was over.
McCabe was investigated by the federal government after he allegedly leaked information to a journalist in 2016. He soon became a target for President Trump and Republicans.
Trump felt McCabe and former director James Comey were unfairly targeting him.
Throughout the ordeal, McCabe and his lawyers vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
Sperry wrote: ‘BREAKING: Molly Gaston, the asst. US Attorney who signed letter to McCabe’s lawyer informing McCabe she was closing criminal case against him, is [a] Democrat who’s given thousands to Dems including Obama & who once worked for Dem side of House Oversight & whose mother worked for WaPo.’
Sperry suggests that charges against McCabe were not filed because of apparent political alignments.
In response, Holder called out Sperry for bias and said he does not have a real understanding of how the Department of Justice operates.
‘Why don’t you shut the hell up?’ Holder said.
‘Your bias is showing. I bet you’ve never been a prosecutor or have any idea how DOJ works. People like you-who want to use the justice system for political reasons-are both dangerous and ignorant. The case was-like you-an obvious loser.’
Holder’s harsh comments did little to dissuade Sperry from continuing to tweet about Holder, Obama or the Department of Justice.
Sperry claims that both Obama and Holder were united under a ‘racialist agenda’ and that the government official politicized the Department of Justice while serving in his position.
He wrote: ‘Talk about no firewall between the attorney general and president — Holder was Obama’s wingman and their wives were BFFs, all united in the same racialist agenda.’
‘Eric Holder completely politicized DOJ so he has a lot of gall weighing in on this issue.’
Holder’s outburst and Sperry’s remarks come after it was revealed the Department of Justice would not pursue criminal charges against McCabe.
McCabe was under investigation for nearly two years after he was accused of leaking information to a former Wall Street Journal reporter about Hillary Clinton’s 2016 investigation.
The leak confirmed the Clinton probe’s existence after former FBI director James Comey refused to publicly acknowledge it.
Of the experience, McCabe told CNN: ‘It was traumatic to leave the FBI, certainly in the way that I did, and that’s been tough to live with.’
‘The added insult and suspicion that comes with being under criminal investigation just made the entire experience a million times worse.’
He then lambasted federal investigators for taking such a long time to make a formal decision on the case.
‘It is an absolute disgrace that they took two years, and put my family through this experience for two years, before they finally drew the obvious conclusion and one they could have drawn a long, long time ago,’ he said.
In a FBI report from Michael E. Horowitz, it said McCabe ‘lacked candor’ in conversations with Comey about the disclosure and with FBI agents when questioned about the leak on several occasions.
McCabe was fired by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in March 2018 after Inspector General found that he had repeatedly misrepresented his involvement in the 2016 leak.”

“An imam in Gothenburg’s largest mosque has been criticised after comparing female genital mutilation (FGM) practices to those who undergo gender reassignment surgeries.
The imam’s comments were set out as part of an email that was framed about being against FGM practices but claimed that gender reassignment surgeries were the first world equivalent of FGM.
” I think it’s good to pay attention to and counteract female genital mutilation and all forms of oppression and abuse,” the imam wrote.
He added: “But what female genital mutilation is the city of Gothenburg talking about? The one made in the name of modernism or the one made in the name of the culture of the primitive, away in the ‘third world’?”
“Why else does the law allow so-called sexual transplants that manipulate both sexes that are even worse? Or do you mean that there is smart mutilation that is ok to have and barbaric mutilation that must be fought?” he added, broadcaster SVT reports.
The imam said that he did not support FGM but added: “Unfortunately I also have to abhor hypocrisy just as much.”
Karolina Mildgrim, a member of the Christian Democrats and chairman of the Gothenburg interreligious council, called the email problematic.
She went on to say: “It is impossible at all to equate. In the case of gender correction, there is firstly a consent, there is a doctor connected and investigations are done.
“They try to alleviate human suffering. But in the case of female genital mutilation, it’s the exact opposite.”
Sweden has seen a problem with cases of FGM in recent years with a report in 2014 claiming that in the city of Norrköping an entire classroom of girls was found to have been victims of the practice.
Cases of gender dysphoria, which can ultimately lead to gender reassignment surgery, have also drastically increased in Sweden in recent years.
According to the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare, cases of gender dysphoria among girls aged 13 to 17 has increased by a staggering 1,500 per cent since 2008.”

Germany: Thousands protest outside Hamburg AfD offices in wake of Hanau shooting
Thousands of people protested outside the Hamburg offices of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party on Thursday evening, in the wake of Wednesday’s double shooting in Hanau.
Protesters chanted anti-AfD slogans, with many holding signs denouncing racism and fascism as they marched through the area.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned the attack as a “brutal terrorist crime” at a vigil in Hanau on Thursday.
According to Germany’s Federal Prosecutors Office, there are serious indications of a racist background to the crime, which is supported by videos and documents allegedly made by the suspect.
MEMRI –Sheikh of Al-Azhar University: Conflict between Islam, Modernity Made up by the West to Hold Us Back
Professor Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, the President of Cairo University, said at a January 28, 2020 conference that was streamed live on Al-Azhar University’s YouTube channel that the religious sciences are in a state of stagnation, and he criticized the fact that critical analysis, scientific analysis, and methodologies from the humanities and social sciences are not used in this field.
He said that Islamic scholarship has failed to enter a new era and called for interdisciplinarity.
Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, responded that shari’a law, Islamic jurisprudence, and the Islamic heritage that Professor Elkhosht criticized were the same things that united a bunch of warring Arab tribes that “couldn’t tell right from left” and enabled them to expand as far as Al-Andalus and China.
Sheikh Al-Tayyeb also said that Islamic heritage barely plays a role in people’s lives today and that the Arab and Muslim identity is meaningless.
He further argued that Western leaders such as Trump and Netanyahu make all the decisions for the Arab world, that the conflict between modernity and the Islamic heritage is made up by the West in order to hold the Muslim world back, and that there is an “accursed and vicious machine” directing the way people view Islam.
MEMRI –Al-Aqsa Mosque Address: We Should Respond to Trump Peace Plan by Conquering America
Palestinian cleric Najib Rafat said in an address at the Al-Aqsa Mosque that was uploaded to the Internet on January 31, 2020 that the response to the Deal of the Century should not be a cold, muted, worthless, narrow, putrid, nationalist, pan-Arabist, lowly, or defeatist response.
Rather, he said that the Islamic nation should respond to President Trump by “preparing the latent resources of the [Islamic] nation,” announcing the establishment of a Caliphate, getting rid of sinful leaders, and sending huge armies to invade and conquer America.

As for America’s annual Black History Month, actor Morgan Freeman spoke for many during this 2005 exchange with CBS’s Mike Wallace on “60 Minutes”:

Despite years of Black History Februarys, many know little to nothing about the vast role played by Arab and Muslim slavers in the African slave trade. The practice began centuries before Europeans slavers bought and transported slaves out of Africa and continued well after European slavery ended.
Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill, for example, teaches media studies and urban education. He once tweeted, “I support reparations 100%.” When the NFL offered its players a 2017 trip to Israel to give them a better understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Hill encouraged the players not to go. About an open letter signed by several prominent blacks in the entertainment industry and others known for their involvement in social justice, Hill wrote, “The letter drew on the undeniable connections between the struggles faced by black and brown communities in the U.S., and Palestinian, Afro Palestinian, Eritrean and Sudanese communities in Israel and Palestine.” Did the “struggles” to which Hill referred have anything to do with Arab and Muslim slavers?
During February, students K-12 are, of course, taught about slavery. But as with Hill, what many teachers seem not to emphasize is that slavery is as ancient as humankind and that it was practiced nearly everywhere. Economist Thomas Sowell writes: “More whites were brought as slaves to North Africa than blacks brought as slaves to the United States or to the 13 colonies from which it was formed. White slaves were still being bought and sold in the Ottoman Empire, decades after blacks were freed in the United States.” This includes the huge role played by Arab-Muslim slavers.
As to the Arab-Muslim slave trade, Ghanaian professor and minister John Azumah helped set the record straight in “The Legacy of Arab-Islam in Africa.” In an interview about his book, Azumah said the following:
“While two out of every three slaves shipped across the Atlantic were men, the proportions were reversed in the Islamic slave trade. Two women for every man were enslaved by the Muslims.
“While the mortality rate of the slaves being transported across the Atlantic was as high as 10%, the percentage of the slaves dying in transit in the Tran-Saharan and East African slave market was a staggering 80 to 90%.
“While almost all the slaves shipped across the Atlantic were for agricultural work, most of the slaves destined for the Muslim Middle East were for sexual exploitation as concubines in harems and for military service.
“While many children were born to the slaves in the Americas, the millions of their descendants are citizens in Brazil and the United States today. Very few descendants of the slaves who ended up in the Middle East survived.
“While most slaves who went to the Americas could marry and have families, most of the male slaves destined for the Middle East were castrated, and most of the children born to the women were killed at birth.
“It is estimated that possibly as many as 11 million Africans were transported across the Atlantic, 95% of which went to South and Central America, mainly to Portuguese, Spanish and French possessions; only 5% of the slaves ended up in what we call the United States today.
“However, a minimum of 28 million Africans were enslaved in the Muslim Middle East. Since at least 80% of those captured by the Muslim slave traders were calculated to have died before reaching the slave markets, it is believed that the death toll from 1,400 years of Arab and Muslim slave raids into Africa could have been as high as 112 million.”
Mr. Freeman is right. Black history is American history. It ought not be “relegated” to a month, and slavery ought not be relegated to only the European slave trade. The truth about slavery includes the long, extensive and deadly role played by Arab and Muslim slavers.

A 6th case of the novel coronavirus has been diagnosed in British Columbia after a woman in her 30s returned to the province from Iran. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said Thursday [20 Feb 2020] the woman’s case is relatively mild, and a number of her close contacts have already been put in isolation. She said health officials are working on a detailed investigation of the woman’s travel and when her symptoms started to help determine if they need to notify those who travelled with her on the same aircraft.
Henry said the diagnosis shows B.C. has a robust system[*] for identifying people who have the virus. “This one, clearly, is a bit unusual in that the travel to Iran is something new,” she told a news conference. “Iran has recently started reporting cases, and we’ll be working with our national and international colleagues to better understand where she may have been exposed to this virus prior to her return to Canada.”
Henry said earlier this week that 4 of the 5 people already diagnosed with the virus were symptom free. The 5th person, a woman in her 30s who returned from Shanghai, China, is in isolation at her home in B.C.’s Interior.
Henry said over 500 people have been tested for the virus in B.C., and many of those tested positive for the flu. Three cases of the virus have also been confirmed in Ontario.

“Foul play is being considered following the third train derailment in Canada this month, after left-wing extremists called on supporters to sabotage the country’s rail system.
The incident occurred in Sainte-Marie-Salomé in Canada’s French-speaking province of Quebec earlier this week and saw two train cars derailed, with an unnamed source claiming that something had purposely been put on the tracks to derail the train, CTV reports.
CN, Canada’s largest rail company, refused to confirm or deny whether they suspected the derailment may have been an intentional act of sabotage but CN senior manager of public affairs Olivier Quenneville did confirm no one had been injured in the incident and no hazardous materials were involved.
“The incident is still under investigation and we will not comment further,” Quenneville told the broadcaster.
The incident is one of three train derailments that have taken place in February across Canada staring with the derailment of 32 cars near Guernsey, Saskatchewan, on February 6th. A fire engulfed 19 of the cars and 1.2 million litres of crude oil was spilt as a result of the derailment.
The Canadian Transportation Safety Board (TSB) stated: “A review of the locomotive event recorder download determined that the train was handled in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.”
The Saskatchewan incident came just two months after another derailment just 10 kilometres away that resulted in 1.5 million litres of oil spillage.
The third derailment in February took place in the province of Ontario near the northwestern town of Emo and saw 30 railcars, some leaking crude oil, derailed.
Emo Mayor Harold McQuaker stated that the spillage had been contained while a few locals living near the site had been evacuated, and local Fire Chief Joshua Calling noted the winter weather had hardened the oil and reducing the area of its spread.
Investigations into the incidents are still ongoing but all three come after the far-left extremist website Northshore Counter-Info called on fellow extremists to sabotage Canadian railway systems in support of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation anti-pipeline protests.
The extremist website took credit for several incidents of rail sabotage, with similar incidents later confirmed to have occurred by Canadian transport minister Marc Garneau.
The anti-pipeline protests in supposed solidarity with British Columbia’s Wet’suwet’en First Nation have largely crippled Canada’s rail system due to blockades taking place across the country.
The blockaders claim to be acting in protest with the hereditary chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en, despite the elected council, along with 20 other First Nations councils, approving of the natural gas pipeline project.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, meanwhile, has called for negotiations with the protesters and stated the federal government was “working very hard to end the blockades”.
CN Rail and Via Rail, Canada’s largest passenger train company, have also announced nearly 1,000 temporary layoffs due to the blockades.”

“More “Asian” grooming gang members have been sentenced for raping girls aged 13 and 14 in Huddersfield, England.
Only four of the seven convicted men were named in a West Yorkshire Police statement on the sentencing, with another remaining anonymous for undisclosed reasons — possibly because they are involved in further cases which are subject to reporting restrictions.
Sentencing judge Geoffrey Marson QC said the abuse was “planned by a large group of Asian men” — in British parlance “Asian” typically refers to people with South Asian roots — and that it was “likely many of these girls will never recover from the abuse they suffered.”
“The way they were abused defies understanding, and was wild and wicked,” he said in comments reported by local media.
The sentences for the four named men were listed by West Yorkshire Police as follows:
Usman Ali (34) of Park Drive, Huddersfield, who was sentenced to eight years in custody after being found guilty of two offences of rape against one victim
Gul Riaz (43) of Balmoral Avenue, Huddersfield, was sentenced to 15 years after being found guilty of an offence of rape and two indecent assaults against one victim and a rape offence against the other
Banaras Hussain (39) of Scarborough Road, Shipley, was sentenced to nine and a half years after being found guilty of an offence of rape against one victim
Abdul Majid (36) of Lightcliffe Road, Huddersfield was sentenced to 11 years after being found guilty of two offences of rape against one victim

“The sentences handed down to these men today reflect the depravity of their actions and I hope it will bring some comfort to their victims to see them jailed,” commented Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Richard McNamara of the Kirklees District unit of West Yorkshire Police.
“Their actions in targeting and sexually abusing these very young and vulnerable girls were utterly despicable and I am very pleased the courts have recognised this and put them behind bars for a number of years.
However, the police force’s claim that the grooming gang has been ” jailed for a combined 63 and a half years”, echoed in local media headlines suggesting they have been “caged for decades”, would be regarded by many members of the public as disingenuous.
Sentences are of course served on an individual basis, not collectively — and not one of them has received a sentence as long as 20 years — the bare minimum for “decades” — let alone 63 years.
Moreover, it is standard practice in the English criminal justice system for the vast majority of criminals sentenced to non-“life” sentences — which themselves almost never involve actually spending one’s life in custody — are entitled to release on licence halfway through their terms, automatically, without so much as a parole hearing.
This would mean the unnamed groomer sentenced to four years for rape will be back on the streets after two — a very far cry from 63 years.
Some criminals do receive special extended sentences which mandate release slightly further through the term — typically the two-thirds point — subject to a parole hearing, but the West Yorkshire Police statement on does not indicate that this was the case for the seven Huddersfield groomers.
It is also possible that the longer sentences for people sentenced for multiple crimes are misleading, as they may be an aggregate of multiple individual terms “to be served concurrently” — i.e. at the same time, rendering all but the longest essentially meaningless.

There’s a sense in which the only reason to take note of this New York Times report is that it heralds the reupping of an “election interference” theme for 2020. The theme isn’t likely to get much traction. It emerges just as Richard Grenell has been appointed Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI), a move the anti-Trump forces are roundly deploring.
But there’s a second legitimate reason to take note of it, which we’ll consider further below.
The report itself is written so much in the manner of the Steele dossier that it’s hard to keep a straight face. There’s not an anti-Trump itch it doesn’t scratch; it is couched in tantalizing, reductionist prose; it leaves out information that had to be available, while inserting clue-language that goads the imagination to interpolate the worst. It has the Fusion GPS hallmark stamped all over it.
Thus, we learn in the opening sentence that “Intelligence officials warned House lawmakers last week that Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Donald Trump reelected, five people familiar with the matter said, in a disclosure that angered Trump, who complained that Democrats would use it against him.”

Former intel official pleads guilty to leaking classified info to journalists
A former counterterrorism analyst pleaded guilty Thursday to leaking classified national defense information to two journalists, including one he was dating.
Henry Kyle Frese, 31, of Alexandria pleaded guilty to the willful transmission of Top Secret national defense information. He faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced June 18.
“Frese violated the trust placed in him by the American people when he disclosed sensitive national security information for personal gain,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. “He alerted our country’s adversaries to sensitive national defense information, putting the nation’s security at risk.”
Prosecutors said he shared top-secret defense reports, including details on China’s weapons systems, in 2018 and 2019. An article on China’s defenses was one of at least eight articles written by two NBC-affiliated journalists based on intelligence reports Frese leaked to them, according to court documents.

“An Iraqi suspected of belonging to Islamic State will face charges of murder and genocide, German prosecutors said on Friday, accused especially of letting a five-year-old “slave” girl die of thirst.
Taha A.-J. is the husband of Jennifer W., a woman who has been on trial in Munich since last year over accusations that the two mistreated a Yazidi mother and daughter, before allowing the young girl to die.
The case against the couple has been described by media and lawyers as the first time worldwide that an ISIS member has been tried for crimes against the Yazidis, a religious minority which suffered brutal persecution at the hands of the Islamic State from 2014.
Prosecutors allege that A.-J., who joined ISIS in 2013, purchased the Yazidi child and her mother as household “slaves” and held them captive while living with Jennifer W. in then ISIS-occupied Mosul, Iraq, in 2015.
Their actions were aimed at “destroying the Yazidis, their religion and their culture in keeping with the aims of ISIS,” the prosecutors’ statement said.
The couple are alleged to have forced the mother and daughter to convert to Islam, starved them of food and water and subjected them to beatings.
A.-J. ultimately chained the five-year-old girl to a window outdoors in heat mounting to 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit), leading her to die of thirst, according to the case.

French actions ‘neutralize 50 terrorists’ near Mopti in central Mali

“Around 50 militants were “neutralized” in actions carried out by the France-led Operation Barkhane targeting Islamic State and al-Qaeda affiliated fighters in Mali, according to an Armed Forces Ministry release.
The operations, conducted in two phases between February 9 and 17 around the central town of Mopti, were the result of “preparatory work and intelligence gathering that made it possible to characterize with certainty the activity of armed terrorist groups,” the Thursday, February 20 release said.
Around 30 motorcycles and two pickup trucks were destroyed, and weapons, telephones and electronic equipment were seized during the actions.
In the first operation, carried out northwest of Mopti between February 9 and 10, airstrikes conducted by Reaper drones and Mirage 2000 jet fighter aircraft along with combat helicopter engagements “neutralized some 20 armed combatants” including an Islamic State in the Greater Sahara officer.
The French Armed Forces groups fighters killed, injured or taken prisoner under the terms “neutralized” or taken “out of action,” according to AFP.
A second action was carried out between February 16 and 17 south of Mopti, “in a region where Katiba Macina is rampant.”
Katiba Macina is one of the constituent groups of JNIM, which has pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda.
Airstrikes and helicopter fire were accompanied by a helicopter-borne assault, and “some 30 jihadist fighters were put out of action.”
“These two operations, with their very heavy material and human toll, weaken the offensive potential of the armed terrorist groups in this region,” the ministry said.
FAMa ‘captures 3 foreign terrorist leaders’ near Mopti
On February 18, the day after the French action south of Mopti, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) tracked “terrorists” in the Somadougou area of the Mopti region, a FAMa release said.
“FAMa helicopters carried out precision airstrikes in the Somadougou sector as far as the village of Diallo on the Bankass road,” the release said.
Somadougou is around 28 km (17 miles) south of Mopti town, and Diallo is around 25 km further southeast.
