Some genetic studies reveal greater genetic commonality between central Europeans and the Uyghur, than between Uyghur and east Asians. Citing their own historical accounts, they have been around long enough as a distinct nation, and people, to have been non-Muslim longer than they have been Muslim. Germany: Afghan asylum seeker with four aliases sexually abuses 11-year-old disabled girl
An eleven-year-old schoolgirl was looking for tenderness, closeness, recognition. But the girl’s innocent feelings were badly exploited by young men: they abused the child!
A perpetrator has been standing trial at the district court of Hanover since Monday. During the trial, defendant Khudai R. (22 years old) made a confession.
At the very first meeting in Langenhagen (Hanover region) at the beginning of September 2018, the refugee from Afghanistan ( who arrived in Germany in 2015, four aliases, lives in Hesse) made it clear what he expected from the schoolgirl in love, whom he had met a few weeks earlier by chatting. R.: “I simply asked her if she wanted to have sex with me.” She had consented. In a forest at the Langenhagen suburban train station he molested her. Three times there were sex meetings, on two of them Khudai’s buddies Ezatullah N. and Siya A. (both 19 at that time) from Hessen participated.
The last time Khudai and Ezatullah took turns and took pornographic photos with their mobile phones. Later, the duo made a selfie with a stick out tongue in front of the minor. One of them is said to have thrown a stone at her.
According to Khudai’s lawyer, the accused suspected that the girl was younger than 14. The learning disabled pupil turned to her guidance counsellor. Her mother (36, single parent geriatric nurse) told the judge: “She was a happy girl before. After that, no more.” Her daughter had been suicidal, had cut herself, and is now living in a therapeutic living group.
The charges of abuse against the other two Afghans were dropped by the public prosecutor’s office. They did not know the true age of the girl, according to a spokeswoman for the newspaper BILD.
The trial will continue on Wednesday.

The EU has announced a major plan for the development of digital technologies.

The bloc plans to create a “framework for trustworthy artificial intelligence”, establishing a certification system for the data used by the algorithms that power AI in the same way the authorities check cosmetics, cars, and toys.
Several European countries previously increased pressure on American tech giants, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook, while politicians urged to create European digital projects, citing security reasons.”

On Monday 17 February, the Supreme Court of India ruled that though people have a fundamental right to protest, there are lines and boundaries that need to be observed. The apex court also appointed three mediators to ask the protesters to move to an alternate site, to avoid causing any inconvenience to the public.”

“Three leaders and four active members of a secret cell, who held gatherings of the organisation’s members, during which they spread the ideology of Tablighi Jamaat, which undermines the foundations of Islam, and involves new supporters in destructive activities, were detained”, the FSB said in a statement.
The service seized extremist literature and various attributes belonging to the organisation. The police opened a criminal case against the cell. The organisation included natives of Central Asia.
Tablighi Jamaat is a global missionary movement urging Muslims to practice the form of Islam that was practised during the times of the prophet Muhammad. It is estimated to have between 12 million and 150 million adherents. It has been classified as an extremist group by Russia since 2009.”

“A CORONAVIRUS vaccine could be available in “months” to help protect people from the deadly disease, a UK scientist has told Express.co.uk, as her team works on a “rapid development” in clinical trials.
There have been nine confirmed coronavirus cases in Britain, with eight of those now discharged from hospital, as the World Health Organisation (WHO) says drastic limits on travel and quarantines have helped reduce those infected. Experts are reluctant to suggest the worst is over, as a cure or vaccine is yet to be confirmed and the death toll rises above 2,000 in China, with 75,000 confirmed cases worldwide. But a research team at Oxford University’s Jenner Institute is preparing to begin clinical testing on a new vaccine candidate, telling Express.co.uk the vaccine could be available in months.
Known as ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, the ‘seed stock’ is currently being produced at the University’s Clinical Biomanufacturing Facility, and will be transferred to Italian manufacturer Advent who will initially produce 1,000 doses for the first clinical trials of the vaccine.
Professor Sarah Gilbert of the Jenner Institute said: “Novel pathogens such as COVID-19 require rapid vaccine development.
“By using technology that is known to work well for another coronavirus vaccine we are able to reduce the time taken to prepare for clinical trials.
“Advent are working with us to move as rapidly as possible.”
Officially known as COVID-19, the virus is a new strain of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) that killed nearly 800 people in the early Noughties.
The WHO previously warned that a vaccine could take a year-and-a-half to be produced.
But, the Oxford team had already been working on a vaccine against a distant relative of the virus, known as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) which was first reported in 2012, but has been identified as a likely cause for future epidemics.
So far, it has shown to induce strong immune responses against MERS after a single dose of the vaccine in the first clinical trial which took place in Oxford.
A second clinical trial of the MERS vaccine is under way in Saudi Arabia, which is where most MERS cases have occurred.
The same approach to making the vaccine is being taken for the novel coronavirus vaccine.
The vaccines are produced using a safe version of an adenovirus; another virus that can cause common cold-like illness.
The adenovirus has been modified so that it cannot reproduce within the body, and the genetic code to provide instructions for making the coronavirus has been added.
That results in the formation of antibodies, which can bind to the coronavirus and stop it from causing an infection.
It is now a fight against time to get the vaccine to China, as some experts warn the virus could “mutate”.
Rob Grenfell, Director of Health and Biosecurity at CSIRO, and Trevor Drew, Director of the Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL), said that as COVID-19 is an animal virus which was passed on to humans, it has already shown it is capable of mutating.
As it is passes from person to person and region to region, it will continue to mutate even more, perhaps differently in varying regions of the world.
Writing for The Conversation this week, Dr Grenfell and Dr Drew pointed out: “Being an animal virus, it has already likely mutated as it adapted – first to another animal, and then jumping from an animal to humans.
“Initially this was without transmission among people, but now it has taken the significant step of sustained human-to-human transmission.
“As the virus continues to infect people, it is going through something of a stabilisation, which is part of the mutation process.
“This mutation process may even vary in different parts of the world, for various reasons.
“This includes population density, which influences the number of people infected and how many opportunities the virus has to mutate.””

“An inmate with no history of extremism told guards he had staged a jihadist attack after luring officers into his cell and lunging at them with an improvised weapon, it was claimed last night.
Xeneral Imiuru, 20, allegedly launched the attack in Winchester Prison from his cell in the segregation unit last Thursday, according to The Times.
Imiuru, who is Britain’s first convicted acid attack killer, was jailed in 2018 for manslaughter.
He has reportedly begun showing a growing interest in extremism and attempted to forge relationships with jihadist prisoners.
In the early hours of Thursday, he is said to have faked a suicide attempt and lay motionless in his cell, luring three officers in before jumping on them and lunging towards them with a sharpened instrument that he had strapped to his arm, it has been claimed.
No injuries were suffered in the attack, which has been confirmed by the Prison Service.
A service spokesman said: “Police are investigating an incident at HMP Winchester on Feb 13. Violence against our hard-working staff will not be tolerated and those responsible will face tough punishment, including more time behind bars.”
On Jan 9, the first Islamist attack behind bars in the UK was staged in HMP Whitemoor, Cambs, when a convicted extremist and a Muslim convert wearing fake suicide vests went on the rampage, attacking officers with makeshift blades. ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A sinkhole reportedly containing almost 1,000 bodies, including around 30 Yezidis, killed by the Islamic State (ISIS) from mid-2014 to late 2017 has been uncovered in northern Iraq’s Tal Afar region of Nineveh, a local official confirmed on Wednesday.

“The owner of a bus company says three people have been killed by suspected extremists from Somalia after they were pulled out of a bus in northeastern Kenya.
Haji Abass said Wednesday that the bus belonging to his company, Moyale Raha, was heading to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi from Moyale, a market town on the Ethiopian border in Mandera county, when it was attacked.
Abass said suspected al-Shabab fighters in full police uniform flagged the bus down, but the conductor and passengers who knew the route said there was no police roadblock in the area, so the driver kept going.
The fighters then fired at the bus, injuring the driver. The front and back tires deflated and the bus lost control and went into a ditch.
The fighters then pulled out the passengers and killed two non-Muslims, as in previous attacks, as well as one Muslim, Abass said. It was not clear why they shot a man believed to be Muslim, he said.
The al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab has vowed retribution for Kenya’s troop presence in neighboring Somalia. Its fighters have carried out numerous attacks on Kenyan soil since Kenya deployed troops in 2011 to fight the extremists.
Such attacks have brought education to a near-standstill in Kenya’s Mandera, Garissa and Wajir counties. Nearly 1,000 non-teaching staff were withdrawn from the counties that border Somalia after three Kenyan teachers were killed in Garissa last month.”

“Turkey’s president Wednesday criticized the European Union’s decision to launch a maritime effort focused on enforcing the U.N arms embargo around Libya, accusing European nations that agreed to the operation of “interfering in the region.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan also hailed a decision by Libya’s U.N.-supported government to withdraw from talks with rivals following an attackTuesday on the sea port of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
EU foreign ministers agreed earlier this week to end Operation Sophia, the bloc’s naval mission in the Mediterranean Sea, and launch a maritime effort focused more on implementing the U.N. arms embargo around Libya.
Operation Sophia was set up in 2015 as tens of thousands of migrants headed across the sea from North Africa to Europe. Its aim was to crack down on migrant smugglers, but also to enforcethe 2011arms embargo, which is routinely being flouted.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said several European countries had offered to take part in the new operation.
“I want to specifically mention that the EU does not have the right to make any decision concerning Libya,” Erdogan said in a speech to legislators from his ruling party in parliament. “The EU is trying to take charge of the situation and interfere.”
Libya has been in turmoil since 2011, when a civil war toppled long-time dictator Moammar Gadhafi, who was later killed. Relentless turmoil subsequently engulfed the oil-rich country, which is now split between rival governments based in its east and west, each backed by an array of foreign countries apparently jockeying for influence to control Libya’s resources.
The U.N.-supported government in Tripoli is backed by Turkey and Qatar. On the other side are the eastern-based forces of commander Khalifa Hifter, which rely on military assistance from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, as well as France and Russia.
Hifter was in Moscow on Wednesday and met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The parties “noted the important role” of talks that took place in Moscow on Jan. 13 in “implementing a ceasefire and starting the process of normalizing the situation in the country.” The statement also reiterated the need to comply with decisions made during a Berlin peace summit last month.
In the Berlin conference, world powers and other countries with interests in Libya’s long-running civil war agreed to respect the much-violated arms embargo, hold off on military support to the warring parties, and push the sides to reach a full cease-fire.
The U.N. special envoy to for Libya, Ghassan Salame, however has accused some countries of stepping up weapons deliveries to Libya’s warring sides in hopes of a military victory.
Fighting between the country’s factions has intensified over the past year. Recently, Turkey sent hundreds of Syrian fighters, including militants affiliated with groups such as al-Qaida and the Islamic State group, to fight on behalf of the Tripoli-based government to defend the city from Hifter’s offensive.
The Turkish leader also voiced support for Tuesday’s decision by the Tripoli-based government to suspend participation in U.N.-brokered talks in Geneva, following an attack by Hifter’s forces on Tripoli’s port.
“It is the right decision,” Erdogan said.
He added that Turkey would continue supporting the Tripoli-based government to “establish dominance” over the whole of the country.
Hifter’s forces claimed they hit a weapons and ammunition depot at the port on Tuesday “to weaken the combat capabilities of the mercenaries who arrived from Syria” to fight alongside Tripoli-based militias.
The Geneva talks between Libya’s warring sides had resumed earlier on Tuesday in a bid to salvage a fragile cease-fire in the North African nation. The current cease-fire was brokered by Russia and Turkey on Jan. 12 to deescalate the fight for control of Tripoli, but both sides have repeatedly violated the truce.”

“The German Cabinet has approved a bill that will require social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube to report certain hate speech to the police.
According to the bill passed by ministers Wednesday, internet companies will have to flag far-right propaganda, graphic portrayals of violence, murder or rape threats, posts indicating that someone is preparing a terrorist attack or distributing child sexual abuse images.
Social media sites are already required to delete such posts.
The measures, which still need to be approved by parliament, will also see the definition of criminal hate speech extended to include threats of rape or property damage and expressions of approval for serious crimes.
Crimes motivated by anti-Semitism will also result in increased sentences.
In a further measure, authorities will make it easier for politicians, volunteers and journalists to prevent others from obtaining their home addresses from public registers.
Jurists estimate the number of online hate speech cases in Germany each year to be in the six figures.”

“A Belgian court sentenced a Turkish migrant to six years in prison after being convicted for sexually abused several underage girls.
The Hainaut Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence against the Turkish migrant on Tuesday, one of several men sentenced in the case which dates back to 2012.
An investigation into the man was launched in June of 2012 after one of the underage victims came forward to Belgian authorities. The man, who pretended to be an imam, had the two underage victims referred to him by his aunt for “purification”.
The aunt of the migrant had previously sent her own two underage daughters for “purification”, which involved the man sexually abusing his victims, but did not open up about the sexual abuse until 2015 when they had both become adults, Sudinfo reports.
The defence in the case proposed an acquittal for the migrant, stating that the evidence did not meet the threshold required to convict the migrant.
The fake imam had no prior criminal record, but the court found that his statements were without credit and rejected his denial of the allegations, moving to convict him in the case.
While the Turkish man was a fake imam, sex abuse cases involving real imams have made headlines in recent years as well.
In 2016 in the UK, 57-year-old Imam Hifiz Rahman fled the country for Bangladesh after being found guilty on five of seven counts of abusing children between the ages of six and ten.
Detective Constable Liz Skyte, from West Midlands Police’s Public Protection Unit, said the abuse had gone from inappropriate touching and had escalated to serious assaults.
Two years later, 76-year-old Imam Hafiz Azizur Rehman Pirzada, of Laughton Road, Northolt, was also found guilty of eight counts of sexual assault on two children under the age of 13.”

Turkey: Operation in Syria”s Idlib is “imminent” – Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said launching a cross-border operation in Syria’s Idlib province is “imminent,” while addressing parliamentarians in Ankara, on Wednesday.
“We are entering the last days for the regime [Syrian government] to stop its hostility in Idlib and for the Sochi memorandum to be withdrawn to its borders. We’re making our final warnings now,” said Erdogan.
“The Idlib operation is imminent,” he continued, before adding “we are committed to making Idlib a safe place for both Turkey and the people of the region at all costs.”
He went on to say that Turkey has already made all necessary preparations “to carry out its own operation plans in Idlib.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the two-day closed-door talks between Turkish and Russian officials aimed at the de-escalation of tension in Syria’s Idlib province had finished unsuccessfully.

During a visit to the eastern French city of Mulhouse, Macron said the government sought to combat “foreign interference” in how Islam is practiced and the way its religious institutions are organised in the secular country.

Russian artist Pyotr Pavlensky and his girlfriend Alexandra de Taddeo were placed under formal investigation by French prosecutors, as they are suspected of publishing a sex video alleged to be of former Paris mayoral candidate Benjamin Grieveaux.
Speaking in Paris on Tuesday, Pavlensky said “it’s my project that I created, that I did. I found the source, and I did everything.”
The Russian artist did not reveal his source.
“I thought that France was the country of freedom of expression,” he said, adding that he acted in the face of “hypocrisy.”
“If someone starts their campaign with great hypocrisy, with this great lie, great contempt against all the Parisians. If this person takes the power, no it’s a monstrous situation.”
“As soon as there’s something that people don’t understand, that people don’t like, it’s either criminal, it’s a crime or it’s insanity,” he added.
Pavlensky specified that his first judicial convocation will take place on March 3.
Pavlensky, a Russian artist who was granted political asylum in France back in 2017, admitted to leaking the video showing a man masturbating.

A New York Times report indicates officials at the Department of Justice are investigating whether Obama-era officials hid or manipulated intelligence related to Russian election meddling. The investigation is being conducted by U.S. Attorney John Durham, who has previously scrutinized intelligence community issues under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
Officials “appear to be hunting for a basis to accuse Obama-era intelligence officials of hiding evidence or manipulating analysis about Moscow’s covert operation,” the Times summarizes.
Among those in the crosshairs is John Brennan, former CIA director under Obama, who is under the microscope for possibly having “preconceived notions about Russia” and perhaps “hid(ing) intelligence from other agencies.”
The focus allegedly involves the intelligence community’s conclusion Russia had not just tried to create chaos in the 2016 election but that they were all in for Donald Trump to defeat Hillary Clinton.

“The daughter of a radical Islamist operative is a state co-chair of presidential frontrunner Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.
Sanders named Abrar Omeish, daughter of Libyan-born jihadist sympathizer Esam Omeish, as a co-chair of his Virginia campaign on February 18.
On her own merits, the 24 year-old Abrar Omeish is of little political consequence. She is the youngest person to ever hold office in the state, having been elected in 2019 to the Fairfax County School Board. Her role on the campaign appears to be a Sanders gesture to a more powerful political constituency: the well-organized radical Sunni Islamist networks across the United States. Abrar Omeish’s father is former president of the Muslim American Society, a group identified by federal prosecutors as the “overt arm” of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.
The elder Omeish is best known in Virginia state politics for having been removed from a Virginia Immigration board by then-governor Tim Kaine, a Democrat, after a video surfaced of Omeish endorsing violent jihad against Israel.
Esam Omeish also served on the board of Dar al Hijrah mosque, a Falls Church, Virginia-based mosque with a long history of ties to terrorism finance. Omeish has also been accused of links to terrorism by a Libyan parliamentary security committee. He is a naturalized citizen of the United States.
Advancing what her father started
The younger Omeish appears to have followed in her father’s footsteps, including in affiliating with Muslim Brotherhood groups. She has been noted for close ties to the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) an Islamist think tank once raided by federal law enforcement over ties to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fundraising.
Abrar served as president of the Muslim Brotherhood-founded Muslim Students Association while at Yale University, participating in an effort to deplatform Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an author and former Muslim who campaigns for women’s rights.
Abrar Omeish is not the first Muslim leader with Islamist ties to serve as a surrogate for the Sanders campaign but is another example of the growing political alliance between Islamists and socialists.
Perhaps Sanders’ most famous surrogate is New York-based Islamist activist Linda Sarsour, who was expelled from the Women’s March following controversy over her antisemitism. Others include Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, both of whom have faced repeated controversies over antisemitic and inflammatory remarks and Islamist ties, have also endorsed Sanders. Sanders was also one of only two candidates to attend the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), another Muslim Brotherhood-linked organization. In 2017, Sanders’ surrogate Sarsour used the ISNA stage to call for a “jihad” against Donald Trump.
Well-organized cadre for voter mobilization
Sanders’ Muslim outreach efforts may be paying off. Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organizations have run the most effective get-out-the-vote campaigns among ordinary Muslims in America for more than two decades, usually in concert with “progressive” Democrats and small but effective socialist organizing committees. In Iowa, where Sanders finished first, the Vermont Senator picked up significant numbers of delegates at Iowa mosques serving as satellite caucus locations.
One of Sanders’ other Virginia co-chairs is the state’s only openly Democratic Socialist, Delegate Lee Carter. While Virginia has a Muslim population of about 200,000 (roughly 2%), the population is most heavily concentrated in the Democratic strongholds of Northern Virginia where Sanders’ Virginia co-chairs are located, including Fairfax, Loudon and Prince William counties, where the Muslim percentage of the population approaches 5%.
While it is unclear how Muslim voters in Virginia will turnout, EmgageUSA, an Islamist political advocacy group with ties to Muslim Brotherhood affiliates, claims that Muslim voter turnout in Virginia reached nearly 70% in the 2016 general election. If true, Muslim voter turnout in Virginia was significantly better than Muslim voter turnout nationally, which Pew polls put at roughly 44%.
Whether Sanders’ strategy will be effective or not remains to be seen. A Monmouth poll currently puts Sanders tied with former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg ahead of Virginia’s March 3 Super Tuesday primary. But Sanders has certainly staked much on the belief that siding up to Islamist leaders will deliver Muslim voters, and victory.”

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, along with several of his Senate Democrat colleagues, reportedly met secretly with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (pictured above) during the Munich Security Conference last week. The Federalist raised the question whether that “would mean Murphy had done the type of secret coordination with foreign leaders to potentially undermine the U.S. government that he accused Trump officials of doing as they prepared for Trump’s administration.”
Senator Murphy tweeted that he was simply engaging in a dialogue with Zarif, which he claimed was within Congress’s authority as “a co-equal branch to the executive.” While acknowledging for the record that “no one in Congress can negotiate with Zarif or carry official U.S. government messages,” Murphy declared that “there is value in having a dialogue.” He added, “It’s dangerous not to talk to adversaries, esp amidst a cycle of escalation.” That all depends on what Murphy and his cohorts had to say to the Iranian foreign minister behind closed doors.
According to Senator Murphy’s own telling, he used his meeting with Zarif to urge Iranian action to control Iran’s proxies in Iraq, release American citizens being unlawfully detained in Iran, and end the Houthi blockage of humanitarian aid in Yemen. That sounds innocent enough, if Murphy was telling the truth about everything that was said during his tête-à-tête with Zarif. But there is no reason to take Murphy’s self-serving account as representing anywhere near a complete record of the meeting.

We reported in a post in August 2019 that President Trump recognized that China is in an all out war with the US in regards to information and economics. For years Western leaders have done nothing but negotiate into weak positions, never standing up to the Communist regime. Former US Presidents treated China like they did Russia 50 years ago, as their superior always giving them what they wanted and never standing up to their abuse and criminal acts.

t may be too much to say that these are really competing “dream tickets.” On the Democratic side, the ticket is merely one that was floated over the weekend, in a Drudge original report that Mike Bloomberg was considering bringing on Hillary Clinton as his running mate. The Bloomberg campaign promptly disavowed any such thing. A number of news and commentary outlets have weighed in to pooh-pooh it.
But assuming that Drudge wasn’t just making this up (and I see no reason to think he was), it does suggest that someone with a claim to inner-circle knowledge was thinking along these lines. Notably, the report has already spawned its own Silly Snopes Fact Check, with Snopes assuring us that a report of State Farm canceling Bloomberg’s life insurance is “satire.”
On the Republican side, or at least somewhere to the right of Bernie Sanders, the Never Trump outlet The Bulwark came out shortly after the Bloomberg-Hillary bomblet with its “unity” proposal for a Romney-Bloomberg ticket.
Since The Bulwark purports to do the thinking for “principled conservatives,” this slate is something of a head-scratcher. Mitt Romney and Mike Bloomberg, between them, have a virtually unblemished record of never encountering a progressive government program they don’t like. If they’re about “conserving” anything, it’s government authority, government regulatory programs, government edifices, and government sinecures.

The Intolerance of the “Tolerant” Left: The End of Liberal Democracy?

We recently witnessed two events that indicated the possible demise of liberal democracy. The implications should frighten supporters of democratic forms of government in which individual rights and freedoms are officially recognized and protected, and the exercise of political power is limited by the rule of law.
The growing intolerance of many “left-wing” groups is apparent in the uproar of the democratic election of the state premier of the German state of Thuringia as well as in the performance of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, publicly ripping up US President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union address. It was an official document that belongs not to her but to the public, and of which she was merely its custodian.
That does not even start to mention the entire sham “impeachment” of President Trump, in which centuries of accepted due process were thrown in the gutter. The Senate “trial,” which probably should have been dismissed from the get-go as the “fruit of the poisonous tree” — a legal metaphor meaning that if any evidence is found to be tainted or violates a defendant’s constitutional rights, whatever “fruit” follows from it must be thrown out. The House, however, like the Inquisition, is allowed make up its own rules, and make them up it did. Another central problem seemed to be that a US president is obligated by law — under Ukraine (12978) – Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, signed in 1998 — not to hand taxpayer money over to the Ukraine without first checking to see that there is no corruption. Trump did, there was not, case closed. Trump was not only totally acquitted in a show trial that should not have existed in the first place, but his accusers seemed more guilty of what he was accused of — the non-crimes of “abuse of power” and “obstruction of Congress” — than he was.

“Chadian soldiers on Wednesday, February 19 repelled a rebel incursion into a volatile northern gold-mining region from neighbouring Libya, the army said.
The rebel group, the Military Command Council for the Salvation of the Republic (CCMSR), acknowledged the deadly fighting, saying its forces had conducted a “strategic pullback”.
The clash took place early Wednesday near Kouri Bougoudi, a town at the most northern point of the Tibesti Region on the Libya border. The area is in the Tibesti massif, a mountainous gold-mining region where lawlessness and trafficking are endemic.
CCMSR rebels “attacked army positions at 6 am,” army spokesperson Colonel Azem Bermendoa Agouna told AFP.
The army “routed them and is currently pursuing them,” he said.
A senior army officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said 40 rebels were killed and 38 captured, while three Chadian soldiers were also killed in the fighting.
The CCMSR’s spokesperson, Ali Saleh Hassaballah, reached by phone from Libreville, told AFP that about 50 soldiers had been killed, against the loss of only three rebels.
The starkly contrasting tolls could not be verified independently, as the zone is barred to journalists.
“After more than five hours of heavy fighting, we carried out a strategic pullback of about 30 km [20 miles] because we heard that army reinforcements were arriving,” Hassaballah added.
A gold miner in the area, contacted by AFP, said “the rebels were pushed back.”
Armed groups opposed to President Idriss Deby Itno, who has ruled Chad with an iron fist for nearly three decades, frequently make cross-border raids from Libya.
Created in 2016, the CCMSR describes itself as a political-military opposition movement with “several thousand” fighters.
Last August, a cross-border raid of this kind prompted the government to launch a military crackdown in the Tibesti and declare a state of emergency there -– a measure that it lifted five months later.
In February 2019, the Union of Resistance Forces (UFR) led by Deby’s nephew Timan Erdimi, entered Chad from Libya in columns of pickups.
France – whose Operation Barkhane counter-terrorism campaign in the Sahel is supported by Chad – carried out a series of airstrikes to halt the UFR advance at the Chadian government’s request, although the French defense ministry said the strikes were were not part of Barkhane.
The UFR was created in January 2009 from an alliance of eight rebel groups.”
Mali: French actions near Hombori ‘neutralize several terrorist fighters’

“The France-led Operation Barkhane targeted insurgents in Mali in a series of recent actions in the Hombori area, the French Ministry of the Armed Forces said.
On February 13, the Barkhane force conducted an operation in the Mali-Burkina Faso-Niger tri-border region that “resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of important logistical assets” in the Hombori area of Mali’s central Mopti province, the ministry said in a Tuesday release.
After a “lengthy intelligence operation that increased knowledge of the area,” the Barkhane force conducted a search for armed terrorist groups (GAT) in the Hombori area, where they “detected a GAT camp and noted the presence of numerous armed men.”
Mirage 2000 fighter jets and Tigre helicopters “jointly engaged,” neutralizing “several terrorist fighters” and destroying a “significant” quantity of materiel, the ministry said.
The French Armed Forces groups fighters killed, injured or taken prisoner under the terms “neutralized” or taken “out of action,” according to AFP.
The action was conducted in an area where Barkhane forces had been active over the previous week.
On February 8, a Mirage 2000 patrol “intervened in support of a FAMa [Malian Armed Forces] detachment northeast of the town of Hombori in the Gourma,” the ministry said in a February 13 release.
The Mirages carried out a “show of force” which “helped to rout the terrorists who had ambushed the FAMa.”
A Malian forward tactical aerial reconnaissance team previously trained by Barkhane enabled direct communication between the aircraft and ground troops.
“At the same time, a Tigre helicopter patrol was also engaged in the area of operation,” quickly coming into contact with militants. The helicopters neutralized one militant and destroyed their motorcycle, the ministry said.
Searches in the Hombori area following the ambush led to a February 12 Barkhane action targeting a militant camp in the Gossi area. Gossi, in Timbuktu province, is around 75 km (47 miles) northeast of Hombori.
Airstrikes carried out by a Mirage jet and fire from Tigre helicopters led to “several” terrorists being “put out of action” and a “significant” quantity of materiel destroyed. A group of commandoes then secured the area and motorcycles, weapons, military clothing and a large amount of fuel were seized.
The February 18 release noted that a Reaper drone performed the air mission command function during the joint Mirage-Tigre action.
Both Islamic State and al-Qaeda affiliated groups are active in the wider area, but the ministry did not say which groups were targeted in any of the actions.
French operations against Islamist militant groups in the tri-border area appear to have increased in pace since late last year.
The ministry said more than 30 “terrorists” were put out of action in Barkhane actions in Mali in the first week of February. On January 23, the ministry said more than 30 “terrorists” had been put out of action in operations in the Liptako-Gourma region.
