Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.
This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.
So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

China Is Disintegrating: Steel Demand, Property Sales, Traffic All Approaching Zero
In our ongoing attempts to glean some objective insight into what is actually happening “on the ground” in the notoriously opaque China, whose economy has been hammered by the Coronavirus epidemic, yesterday we showed several “alternative” economic indicators such as real-time measurements of air pollution (a proxy for industrial output), daily coal consumption (a proxy for electricity usage and manufacturing) and traffic congestion levels (a proxy for commerce and mobility), before concluding that China’s economy appears to have ground to a halt.
That conclusion was cemented after looking at some other real-time charts which suggest that there is a very high probability that China’s GDP in Q1 will not only flatline, but crater deep in the red for one simple reason: there is no economic activity taking place whatsoever.
We start with China’s infrastructure and fixed asset investment, which until recently accounted for the bulk of Chinese GDP. As Goldman writes in an overnight report, in the Feb 7-13 week, steel apparent demand is down a whopping 40%, but that’s only because flat steel is down “only” 12% Y/Y as some car plants have ordered their employee to return to work (likely against their will as the epidemic still rages).

Report: NYU Prof. Leads Anarchist Group That Masterminded Subway Vandalism Attack (breitbart, Feb 16, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2020/02/16/report-nyu-prof-leads-anarchist-group-that-masterminded-subway-vandalism-attack/
“New York University Professor Amin Husain is allegedly behind the New York City subway protests that resulted in thousands of dollars of damage. At the end of January, protesters destroyed turnstiles and spray-painted violent messages throughout the city’s large subway system.
According to a report by the New York Post, NYU Professor Amin Husain has been accused of leading the city-wide subway protest that took place on January 31. Hundreds of protesters stormed the subway system and damaged equipment and vandalized walls with messages promoting their cause.
NYU Professor Amin Husain, an adjunct professor at New York University’s Center for Experiment Humanities, urged his followers to “fuck shit up” during the protest. Husain is the co-founder of a group called Decolonize This Place, an activist group that played a significant role in the subway protests. At the end of the day, the protesters had done $100,000 in damage.
Even New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio condemned the protesters. “They claimed to be representing a cause but what they did did not help any cause,” de Blasio said during a press conference. “Vandalism does not help any cause, spewing bile at cops doesn’t help any cause.”
“You can’t have a situation in New York City where people are putting up on social media intending what they’re going to do. ‘Knives, aim for their neck, blind police officers,’” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said, defending de Blasio’s comments.
This wasn’t Husain’s first protest. Husain reportedly claimed that he attacked Israeli soldiers as a teenager during an uprising in Palestine that took place in 1987. “I was throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, the like,” Husain said in a video uncovered by the New York Post.
In a statement, New York University spokesman John Beckman attempted to downplay Husain’s role at the university.
“Our records reflect that he is one of the thousands of part-time faculty that are hired each year by schools and academic departments,” Beckman said.

Imran Khan Claims India’s ‘Nazism-Based Ultranationalist Ideology’ Will Lead to Refugee Crisis (sputniknews, Feb 17, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/asia/202002171078332979-imran-khan-claims-indias-nazism-based-ultranationalist-ideology-will-lead-to-refugee-crisis/
“Imran Khan has been calling for a dialogue with India since taking office in 2018, but after New Delhi’s revocation of the special status of Kashmir in August 2019 and an amendment in the citizenship law in December, he accused world leaders of ignoring the “ultranationalist” ideology adopted by the Narendra Modi-led India.
Addressing the UN Global Refugee Summit in Islamabad on Monday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed the “ultranationalist” ideology adopted by India might lead to a refugee crisis in the region.
The prime minister also warned that the world should take notice of India’s ideology, which, he alleged, is based on Nazism before it gets out of hand.
“If the international community does not take notice of this situation, it will create another refugee crisis for Pakistan as Muslims of India have been asked to move to Pakistan,” Khan said while speaking at the two-day international conference titled “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity” which began in Islamabad on Monday.
Speaking in front of representatives from 20 countries, Khan alleged Kashmiris had been persecuted for over 200 days due to what he described as the ultranationalist Hindutva ideology adopted by the Modi government. Khan also accused India’s governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of targeting 200 million Muslims through the recently passed citizenship law (CAA).
The CAA, which has been at the centre of nationwide protests in India, paves the way for Indian citizenship for non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh who faced persecution at home and arrived in India before 2015.
Earlier on Sunday night, Indian Foreign Ministry in a strong statement rejected UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s offer of mediation on Kashmir.
“Jammu & Kashmir has been, is and will continue to be an integral part of India. The issue that needs to be addressed is that of vacation of the territories illegally and forcibly occupied by Pakistan. Further issues, if any, would be discussed bilaterally,” Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.
India and Pakistan have repeatedly exchanged fire at border since August 2019 when New Delhi revoked the decades-old temporary special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided the region into two union territories, granting direct control of the Kashmir valley to the Modi government.
Pakistan has launched an intense campaign on different international forums to highlight the alleged ‘atrocities’ by Indian security forces in the valley while limiting communication.”
German asylum madness: Police asks rejected asylum seeker if he wants to be deported – He didn’t want that and the cops left
ne day it will be noted in the history books that the consequences of the political failure in the asylum refugee issue only really became apparent over the years, but by then it was already too late – for Germany.
The asylum madness: In cases where it is known that asylum seekers enter Germany illegally and have already filed an asylum application in another EU member state, the asylum application could be decided quickly and negatively on the basis of §16a of the German Constitution (GG), if it were not for the German bureaucracy, which has been unable to meet the deadline for a deportation according to the Dublin rules for months. The result would then be that impudence would win and with the expiry of the deadline, asylum seekers would be kept in the country of their choice, so to speak, with all their benefits and legal remedies, of course. An Iraqi who is able to say the word asylum entered the Federal Republic of Germany without permission, the person seeking protection had already applied for asylum in another EU country, but apparently he was not in a state of safety (social welfare) so he fled to Germany. And this is where the bizarre story of this asylum seeker begins, combined with a bizarre situation. If the situation were not so capricious, one could laugh out loud: policemen ask the Iraqi if he wants to be deported. Welt.de reports in detail on the case of the Iraqi:
“On December 11, 2019, police officers appeared at the asylum seeker’s home and asked him whether he wanted to be deported. He truthfully denied this. Thereupon, the police forces deployed left again. No further measures have been taken against the asylum seeker.”

News from Merkel’s Germany: Tourist from the USA removes ANTIFA stickers from his car and is therefore physically attacked
While strolling through the Dresden district of Neustadt, a 33-year-old tourist from the USA removed “ANTIFA stickers” that were attached to his car. Apparently some people did not like this, a dispute arose and the young US-American was physically attacked.
The 33-year-old was able to escape the situation, at least for the time being. A short time later, an unknown cyclist approached him, suddenly sprayed irritant gas in his face and stole his hat worth about 80 Euros from his head.

India Summons Turkish Envoy Over President Erdogan’s Remarks on Kashmir (sputniknews, Feb 17, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/world/202002171078333131-india-summons-turkish-envoy-over-president-erdogans-remarks-on-kashmir/
“The Turkish president previously voiced his support for Islamabad, blaming New Delhi for taking “unilateral steps” in the dispute around Kashmir.
The Indian authorities have summoned the Turkish envoy to the country in the wake of the Turkey-Pakistan Joint Declaration addressing the situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
“India has made a strong demarche with the Turkish Government on the remarks made by President Erdogan on the Indian Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir during his recent visit to Islamabad. These remarks reflect neither an understanding of history nor of the conduct of diplomacy. They distort events of the past to advance a narrow-minded view of the present. India made a strong demarche with the Turkish Government”, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar stated.
The news comes after Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Pakistan and criticised Indian policy in Kashmir, however, without naming India explicitly.
This is not the first time that a remark by the Turkish president has led to tensions between the two countries. Last autumn, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his visit to Ankara following Erdogan’s speech at the United Nations, in which he mentioned Kashmir.
Tensions escalated last August after India’s Parliament revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two federally-administered territories. New Delhi also deployed additional troops there to prevent possible attacks by militant groups that oppose Indian rule in the predominantly Muslim-populated region.
Both India and Pakistan claim the region is their territory since they became independent from Great Britain in 1947.”
Police ‘must be out on the street’ to beat violent crime (express, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1243176/uk-crime-crackdown-police-on-streets
“POLICE must be more visible on the beat and focus on violence, says research out today. The public are concerned officers have abandoned town centres, said the Police Foundation study.
They fear the service is being forced to plug gaps for other areas, such as mental health, and this is hitting the fight against crime. Police chiefs should prioritise emergency response, violent and sexual crime, organised crime and terrorism, researchers were told.
Just 16 per cent of people said they saw an officer on foot patrol last year – down from 39 per cent in 2010.
Sir Michael Barber, who is chairing the Foundation’s independent probe into the service, said: “High expectations are not being met. The public feel police have withdrawn from the street as resources have become more stretched.”
Less than eight per cent of recorded crimes ended with a suspect being charged in the year to March 2019.
And police closed almost half of investigations without a suspect being identified. The Police Foundation warned: “Public ratings for police understanding and acting on local concerns, being reliable, treating people fairly and of confidence in local police all declined.”
The Foundation’s research comes after a scathing report by the police watchdog, the HMICFRS, which warned the public has given up on the force solving some offences.
Matt Parr, HM Inspector of Constabulary, said the failure to probe high-volume crimes such as car theft, minor assault and burglary had damaged trust.
He said: “The public has rumbled that police capacity to deal with this is extremely limited. There are strikingly low figures about car crime resolution, meaning most of the public simply give up reporting it because the chances of anything positive happening are so slim.”
A National Police Chiefs’ Council spokesman said: “As we boost officer numbers, we will be able to do more proactive policing and bear down on crime and violence. This will help people feel safer.””

UK Professor: Only Way to Save Planet Is to ‘Let Humans Become Extinct’ (breitbart, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/environment/2020/02/17/uk-professor-only-way-to-save-planet-is-to-let-humans-become-extinct/
“Giving birth to a child is “the worst thing you can do” to the climate, says philosophy professor Patricia MacCormack of Anglia Ruskin University.
The professor, author of The Ahuman Manifesto: Activism for the End of the Anthropocene who describes herself as an “old school goth,” says that the only way to save the planet is to stop having children and allow humans to become extinct.
According to the official description of the book, MacCormack “actively embraces issues like human extinction, vegan abolition, atheist occultism, death studies, a refusal of identity politics, deep ecology, and the apocalypse as an optimistic beginning.”
Due to global overpopulation, giving birth is the worst thing you can do to the planet, MacCormack sustains, while insisting that she is not advocating wiping out the existing population but rather letting it die off.
“Far from advocating mass death, genocide or eugenics, my manifesto is antinatalist,” says MacCormack. “It boycotts human reproduction due to the damage humans have perpetrated on the Earth and its other inhabitants.”
“The manifesto simply asks that humans no longer reproduce – no life is lost, no being is mourned,” she states. “If we no longer reproduce, we can care for all inhabitants already here, human and non-human, as well as care for the Earth itself by mitigating the damage already caused. It’s an activism of care.”
A native Australian, MacCormack says her opinions have been manipulated and misunderstood.
“I simply propose people not reproduce, and it automatically translated into acts of violence,” she has said.
“So, somehow, I want to kill children, which is ridiculous. Somehow, I’m proposing eugenics or some kind of ethnic population control,” she declares, “and I think that what that shows is there is an anthropocentric — or a human — impulse to read acts of grace as, automatically, acts of violence.”
“And that says a lot more about the people not reading the book and just taking over the message,” she states.
MacCormack, who moonlights as a London DJ, said that her position can be “triggering” because it forces people to confront an idea that contradicts their fundamental view of the world.
Along with her opinions regarding the human population, MacCormack advocates overcoming “human privilege” through what she calls “abolitionist veganism,” or the notion that no sentient being should be treated as property of another.
According to MacCormack, her manifesto “questions the value of human exceptionalism, asking are humans really the ‘best’ forms of life, or should we dismantle our understanding of life as a hierarchy for a more ecological, interconnected scheme of living things?”
“There are people living in the apocalypse right now — especially non-human animals — who have born into an apocalypse. They live to suffer and then they’re murdered,” she said.
Among other climate action groups, MacCormack says that those like the protest group Extinction Rebellion have the right idea but are not going far enough.
“Even Extinction Rebellion only focus on the effect this will have on human life, when climate change is something that will affect every living being on the planet,” she states.
Anglia Ruskin University holds up MacCormack’s ideas on climate, but also underscores her expertise in feminism, queer theory, posthuman ethics, animal studies, and horror films.
“Currently she is working on a new impact case study on inclusivity in mental health and criminal justice especially in relation with issues of sexual difference and Trans rights,” the university website reads.”
Suspect in Norway mosque attack charged with terror (abcnews, Feb 17, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/suspect-norway-mosque-attack-charged-terror-69028070
“A Norwegian man suspected of killing his stepsister and then storming an Oslo mosque with firearms “with the intention to kill as many Muslims as possible” was formally charged Monday with murder and terror.
Philip Manshaus was overpowered inside the Al-Noor Islamic Center mosque in suburban Oslo in August. He fired six shots but didn’t hit anyone. One person was slightly injured when they jumped on Manshaus inside the mosque and held him until police arrived.
The prosecution says Manshaus, 22, is suspected of killing his 17-year-old stepsister, Johanne Zhangjia Ihle-Hansen, by shooting her four times — three in the head and one in the chest — with a hunting rifle at their home in the Oslo suburb of Baerum.
Shortly after that, Manshaus drove to a nearby mosque where three men were preparing for Eid al-Adha celebrations. He wore a helmet with a video camera attached and a bulletproof vest, according to the charge sheet obtained by The Associated Press.
Armed with a hunting rifle and a shotgun, Manshaus fired four shots with the rifle at a glass door before he was overpowered by one of the men in the mosque at the time, Muhammad Rafiq. During the scuffle, Manshaus fired two more shots but no one was hit.
A trial is scheduled to start May 7 in Oslo.
Norwegian media have reported that Manshaus was inspired by shootings in March 2019 in New Zealand, where a gunman targeted two mosques, killing 51 people, and in August 2019 in El Paso, Texas, where an assailant targeted Hispanics and left at least 22 dead.
Norway’s domestic security agency PST said it had a “vague” tip about Manshaus a year before the Aug. 19 shooting, but it was not enough to act on because they had no information about any “concrete plans” of attack.”

Gunmen kill 24 in attack near church in Burkina Faso (abcnews, Feb 17, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/gunmen-kill-24-attack-church-burkina-faso-69026660
“Gunmen killed 24 civilians, including a church pastor, and kidnapped three others on Sunday in Burkina Faso, an official said. It was the latest attack against a religious leader in the increasingly unstable West African nation.
The mayor of Boundore commune, Sihanri Osangola Brigadie, said the attack occurred in the town of Pansi in Yagha province. The roughly 20 attackers separated men from women close to a Protestant church. At least 18 other people were injured.
“It hurt me when I saw the people,” Brigadie said after visiting some of the victims in the hospital in Dori town, 180 kilometers (110 miles) from the attack. The gunmen looted oil and rice from shops and forced the three youth they kidnapped to help transport it on their motorbikes, he said.
Both Christians and Muslims were killed before the church was set on fire, said a government security official in Dori who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak to the media.
Attacks have targeted religious leaders in the area in the past. Last week, also in Yagha province, a retired pastor was killed and another pastor was abducted by gunmen, according to an internal security report for aid workers seen by The Associated Press.
Extremist violence has dramatically escalated in once-peaceful Burkina Faso.
Analysts are concerned that attacks against civilians, including against Christians, are increasing “at an alarming rate,” said Corinne Dufka, West Africa director for Human Rights Watch. “Perpetrators use victims’ links to government or their faith to justify the killings, while others appear to be reprisal killings for killings by the government security forces,” she said.
More than 1,300 civilians were killed in targeted attacks last year in Burkina Faso, more than seven times the previous year, according to Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, which collects and analyzes conflict information.
The insecurity has created a humanitarian crisis. More than 760,000 people are internally displaced, according to the government.”
NL criticizes UN council’s “one-sided anti-Israel” attitude with new naming and shaming list
https://nltimes.nl/2020/02/13/nl-criticizes-un-councils-one-sided-anti-israel-attitude-new-naming-shaming-list
The Netherlands criticized a report published by the United Nations Human Rights Council, naming and shaming companies with activities relating to Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Netherlands discourages companies from investing in Israeli settlements, but believes that the UN should keep out of this, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said to NOS.
The list contains 112 companies, including four Dutch ones – telecom and media content provider Altice Europe, travel platform Booking.com, real estate developer Kardan, and its subsidiary engineering firm Tahal Group International. According to the UN, there are reasonable grounds to conclude that these companies have been involved in activities that are banned by the Human Rights Council resolution 31/36.
While the settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territory are considered illegal under international law, the UN council report has no legal ramifications. It is mainly meant to “name and shame” the companies involved, according to NOS.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is not the UN’s job to make businesses aware of corporate social responsibility. That job lies with countries themselves – which is why the Netherlands discourages companies from investing in Israeli settlements. The Netherlands also considers the list a prime example of a one-sided focus on Israel. The Netherlands was “loud and clear” in making its dissatisfaction with the list known, the Foreign Affairs spokesperson said to NOS.
Minister Stef Blok of Foreign Affairs will also make it clear to the Council in Geneva that the Netherlands does not agree with this “disproportionate” one-sided focus, the spokesperson said.
“While the settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territory are considered illegal under international law,”
If the EU repeats the Ottoman lie enough, they are destined to be part of Greater Turkey.

Witness threatened after speaking in foreign influence on mosques investigation
https://nltimes.nl/2020/02/14/witness-threatened-speaking-foreign-influence-mosques-investigation
Hajer Harzi, a board member of the Al Houda mosque in Geleen, received serious threats after she spoke to a parliamentary committee investigating the possible influence of extremist ideology from abroad on Dutch mosques. “You wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” Harzi said on talk show Op 1. She reported the threats to the police.
Her daughter started receiving threatening videos shortly after she spoke to the parliamentary committee, Harzi said. In the videos, Harzi was called a heretic, Jew and all kinds of “terrible things”, she said. “My daughter is angry and says she can’t take it anymore. I had to convince her that it was directed against me and not against her.”
Harzi was also insulted on social media due to her testimony.
The Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, launched this investigation after NRC and Nieuwsuur reported that at least 30 Islamic organizations in the Netherlands receive funding from conservative Gulf states like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this month a group of Islamic organizations asked the Tweede Kamer to not focus only on mosques in their investigation, but also look into foreign money flows to political parties, churches and synagogues
Already as if it is part of Greater Turkey, in the quote and the reporting of the quote: Harzi was called a heretic, Jew and all kinds of “terrible things”, she said.

Senate braces for fight over impeachment whistleblower testimony
Senators are reviving the fight over the whistleblower complaint at the center of the months-long impeachment effort against President Trump.
With Trump’s trial in the rearview mirror, the Senate Intelligence Committee is quietly shifting its attention back to its investigation into the complaint process after hitting pause on the inquiry as the impeachment effort consumed Washington.
The probe will force senators to decide if, and how, they speak with the whistleblower — a controversial call that could test the bipartisan reputation the Intelligence panel has maintained even amid deeply partisan fights in Congress.
Asked by The Hill if he was willing to formally compel and subpoena the whistleblower to testify, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) didn’t rule out the possibility.
“I think you can rest assured that I’m prepared to do whatever we have to to interview the whistleblower,” Burr said.

VICTORY! VA Gun Ban Bill Shot Down
After Democrats took complete control over Virginia’s state government in January, they wasted no time in ushering through a slough of gun control bills.
Lawmakers have thus far passed nearly a dozen gun control bills, all of which were opposed by the state’s gun owners, but still are minor compared to the so-called “assault weapons ban (AWB)” that Governor Ralph Northam had pushed for as the most encompassing piece of legislation. Originally, Northam wanted to reclassify most handguns and shotguns at “assault weapons” to allow for what was falsely advertised as an AWB to truly be confiscation of all firearms. Unlike even the AWB under President Bill Clinton, no firearms of current owners would be grandfathered in.

Venezuela’s Maduro warns opposition leader’s arrest ‘will come’
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is warning Friday that the arrest of opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who has the backing of the U.S. and nearly 60 other nations, “will come.”
Maduro made the remark in a meeting with media three days after Guaidó returned from a tour to the U.S. and Europe, in defiance of a court order prohibiting him from leaving the country.
Despite the order, migration officials let Guaidó into the country after he arrived on a commercial flight at Venezuela’s main international airport. Pro-government protesters there doused him with a liquid and grabbed at his shirt as he made his way through a crowd.

Topless protester confronts Bernie Sanders, de Blasio at Nevada campaign rally
A topless protester disrupted Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign rally in Nevada on Sunday — moments after Mayor Bill de Blasio introduced the Democratic presidential candidate to the stage.
De Blasio had just introduced Sanders to the crowd in Carson City as the “next president of the United States,” when Sanders entered the stage with his wife as the song “Power to the People” played.
That’s when a fully clothed woman jumped up and tried to wrest the microphone out of the Vermont senator’s hand, before grabbing another one from the lectern, and started speaking about the candidate’s support for dairy farmers.
“Bernie, I’m your biggest supporter, and I’m here to ask you to stop pumping up the dairy industry and to stop pumping up animal agriculture,” she said. “I believe in you…” she continued, before the mic suddenly went dead and security moved toward her.

Pelosi Spins Her ‘Impromptu’ SOTU Shredding and Places Blame on… the Media?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made waves when she shredded President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this month. The next day we learned that she planned to make a scene, as evidenced by video footage. She confirmed her desire for attention during an exclusive interview with CNN on Saturday.
“Are you giving a signal that the Democrats will fight back hard, that you will not be constrained by what you believe to be insurgent behavior on the other side, and that this is, you know, a time to go mano a mano?” CNN’s Christiane Amanpour asked.
“Let me say this: I had no intention of doing that when we went to the State of the Union. In fact, I was well into past the first third of it. I’m a speed reader so I was reading ahead so I knew what was there. I got past about a third of it and I thought, ‘This is terrible,'” Pelosi explained.

China’s Coffers Are Depleted Just as Virus Spurs Spending

China’s provinces are facing the economic fallout from the coronavirus with depleted ammunition, given they were already bracing for a deterioration in public finances before the outbreak hit.
More than half of mainland provinces expect slower expansion of revenue in 2020 than last year’s average local income growth, according to their budgets published before the disease outbreak became widespread in January. Hubei, the epicenter, was already expecting income to fall.
That stretches the government’s efforts to make fiscal policy more supportive of the economy in the aftermath of the outbreak, and means more bond sales and borrowing are likely. Government at all levels is re-thinking plans for this year as factories and businesses across the country remain shut, spelling immediate trouble for tax receipts.
“Given the current downward pressures on economic growth, it would be really hard, and unreasonable, to try to meet fiscal targets set before the crisis broke out,” said Louis Kuijs, chief Asia economist at Oxford Economics in Hong Kong.

The White House doesn’t trust China’s coronavirus numbers — here’s why
The coronavirus that emerged from China’s Hubei province over a month ago and has spread to two dozen countries is already fueling mistrust from the U.S. government on whether China can provide accurate information about the epidemic.
The White House said this week it does “not have high confidence in the information coming out of China” regarding the count of coronavirus cases, a senior administration official told CNBC. Meanwhile, China has reportedly been reluctant to accept help from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and has reportedly suppressed information about the outbreak from scientists that it deems alarming.
U.S. officials’ mistrust of China goes as far back as the 1950s, when national authorities set unrealistic production quotas that led local officials to inflate data. Mishaps with the 2003 outbreak of SARS, which sickened 8,098 people and killed about 800 over nine months, and discrepancies in reporting of economic data over the past two decades has only hardened the U.S. government’s belief that China cannot be trusted, experts say. White House advisor Peter Navarro has even called China a “disease incubator.”

Hundreds of Americans flown home from cruise ship, 14 with coronavirus
SHANGHAI/TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (Reuters) – More than 300 American cruise liner passengers, including 14 who tested positive for coronavirus, were flown home to military bases in the United States, after two weeks under quarantine off Japan.
The cruise ship Diamond Princess, with more than 400 cases by far the largest cluster outside China, has become the biggest test so far of other countries’ ability to contain an outbreak that has killed 1,770 people in China and five elsewhere.

Libya’s LNA-Backed Interim Government Accuses Turkey of Aggression and ‘Seeking to Conquer Country’ (sputniknews, Feb 17, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202002171078336201-libyas-interim-government-accuses-turkey-of-aggression-and-seeking-to-conquer-country/
“Ankara has accused Libyan National Army Commander Khalifa Haftar of violating the Libyan ceasefire, and has deployed troops and mercenaries to the country to shore up the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord.
Abdulhadi al-Hweij, foreign minister of the Tobruk-based Libyan government, has accused Turkey of not only interfering in Libya’s internal affairs, but of seeking to conquer the North African country.
“This is not interference, but aggression by Turkey. This is another attempt by Turkey to conquer Libya. We will use all available means to protect our territory and involve all Libyans,” al-Hweij said, speaking to reporters in Moscow on Monday on the sidelines of the Valdai Discussion Club’s Middle East Conference.
“We hope that Turkish aggression will soon end, that the armed confrontation will soon come to an end, that the capital will be liberated, and that armed illegal groups will be disbanded,” the diplomat added.
The official vowed that the Tobruk-based government would use all means necessary to thwart Turkey’s attempt to conquer the country.
Commenting on the recent claims by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggesting that Russian private military companies were operating in Libya, al-Hweij said these allegations were false, and that Erdogan was “losing his mind.”
According to Al-Hweij, his government would be prepared to carry out peace talks in Moscow at some point in the future. The official invited Russian companies to help rebuild the country after peace is restored.
“Undoubtedly, I welcome the role of Russia, as a great power and permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, in settling the Libyan crisis. A conference on security and peace in Libya may take place in Moscow just like in any other capital in Europe and the world,” al-Hweij said.
Libya degenerated into a foreign-backed civil war in 2011, after militants inspired by the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ protests took up arms against long-time Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. With the help of NATO air power, the militants defeated and executed Gaddafi, with the Libya quickly turning into a failed state rife with competing militias, criminal gangs and terrorist groups. Since then, two competing governments – the western, Tripoli-based Government of National Accord and the eastern, Libyan National Army-backed Tobruk government, have established themselves in a competition for power.
On January 19, officials from the competing government met in Berlin to discuss an end to the conflict, agreeing on a ceasefire and the need to ensure the non-involvement of outside third parties in the conflict.
On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu accused Libyan National Army Commander Khalifa Haftar of constantly violating the Libyan ceasefire, and saying his efforts to resolve the conflict by military means “must be stopped.” Turkey sent a contingent of military advisors and instructors to Libya last month, insisting that their presence was legitimate and based on an agreement with Tripoli.”
Video of Bloomberg belittling farming, factory work as jobs requiring less ‘gray matter’
By LU Staff February 17, 2020
The Democratic field of candidates is thinning out. Yesterday, Andrew Yang pulled the plug on his campaign, and so a short time later did Tom Steyer Michael Bennet.
Now it’s beginning to look like former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s head is next for the chopping block. On Monday night, a five-year-old audio recording surfaced in which Bloomie candidly discusses the controversial “stop-and-frisk” policy.
Here is the audio courtesy of Benjamin Dixon, progenitor, according to this Twitter bio, of the “‘dopest’ political podcast in the game.” The audio is captioned, but a transcript is also provided for your convenience:

Alan Dershowitz: George Soros Asked Barack Obama to Investigate Undisclosed Person (breitbart, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/02/17/alan-dershowitz-george-soros-asked-barack-obama-to-investigate-undisclosed-person/
“Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Breitbart News Sunday this weekend that billionaire left-wing financier George Soros told then-President Barack Obama to investigate someone.
Dershowitz would not identify who, precisely, the target of the investigation was, but said that the name would soon emerge in in a lawsuit that had yet to be filed.
The revelation was so startling that this host had to double-check:
Q: But let me just ask you — you said that George Soros asked Barack Obama to have his Justice Department investigate somebody?
Dershowitz: We’re — that’s going to come out in a lawsuit in the near future. Yeah
Q: Wow, well, we look forward to hearing more about that new.
Dershowitz: That’s not unusual. That is not unusual. People whisper to presidents all the time. Presidents whisper to [the] Justice Department all the time. It’s very common. It’s wrong, whoever does it, but it’s common, and we shouldn’t think that it’s unique to any particular president. I have in my possession the actual 302 form [an FBI record of an interview], which documents this issue, and it will, at the right time, come out. But I’m not free to disclose it now because it’s a case that’s not yet been filed.
In addition, Dershowitz reflected on his experience in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, noting that his argument had been grotesquely distorted by CNN — so much so that he could, if he wanted to, sue the network.
CNN — and House impeachment managers — claimed Dershowitz said that the president can do whatever he wants to do, as long as he claims to have believed he was acting in the public interest. Dershowitz had specifically said that criminal-like behavior was indeed impeachable.
Dershowitz also said that former Trump associate Roger Stone deserved a new trial, given new revelations about the extreme political bias of the jury foreperson, who opposed both Trump and Stone.
Moreover, Dershowitz said that if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) won the Democratic presidential nomination, it might force him to leave the Democratic Party and campaign against him nationwide.”

Source: Democrat Senator Held Secret Meeting In Munich With Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif
February 17, 2020 By Mollie Hemingway
Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and other Democratic senators had a secret meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the Munich Security Conference last week, according to a source briefed by the French delegation to the conference. Murphy’s office did not respond to repeated requests for comment by press time.
Such a meeting would mean Murphy had done the type of secret coordination with foreign leaders to potentially undermine the U.S. government that he accused Trump officials of doing as they prepared for Trump’s administration. In February 2017, Murphy demanded investigations of National Security Advisor Mike Flynn because he had a phone call with his counterpart-to-be in Russia.

Arizona Senate Bill 1664: Gun-Free Zone Liability for Anti-Gun Cities
While Arizona Democrats are busily trying to ban nearly all repeating rifles, Republicans are treading down a rather more sane path. Last week the Senate Judiciary Committee voted (on a partisan 4-3 basis) to pass Senate Bill 1664, civil liability for firearm prohibitions.
This pretty much tells you what you need to know about the bill:
NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, A GOVERNMENT ENTITY THAT ESTABLISHES A GUN-FREE ZONE IS LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES CLAIMED BY A PERSON WHO WAS HARMED BY CRIMINAL CONDUCT IN THE GUN-FREE ZONE IF A REASONABLE PERSON WOULD BELIEVE THAT POSSESSION OF A FIREARM COULD HAVE HELPED THE PERSON DEFEND AGAINST THE CRIMINAL CONDUCT.
There was another section that allowed a court to award triple damages in certain circumstances (terrorist attack, person harmed was disabled, a minority, or over sixty-five), but that was struck by amendment.

Richard: To the best of my knowledge Missouri was the first state to pass a bill like this, it happened withing 6 months of the State Legislature passing Constitutional Carry. In my opinion (based on the business law class I had to take in Collage) a No Guns Allowed sign is an implied contract that the owners of the business are making where they are responsible for your protection since they have deprived you of the tools that could protect you.
That’s pretty much what an Orthodox congregation told the police to get a weapons permit for their designated watchman. Makes sense, no problem.
‘House the Irish First’ – Protesters Block Housebuilding for ‘Non-national Families’ (breitbart, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/17/house-irish-first-protesters-block-housebuilding-non-national-families/
“Desperate Irish protesters whose families have been waiting up to 15 years for social housing have blocked the construction of new homes for “non-national families”, demanding “local houses for local people”.
“We watch these houses being built, and none of our children on the list are getting them,” one middle-aged woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Irish Times.
“They can be 10, 12 years on the list, and they’re going nowhere. There’s no explanation as to why,” she complained.
The ‘House the Irish First’ protest movement, most of whose members are women, has been blocking the housebuilding project at Ladyswell Road in the predominantly working-class Dublin suburb of Mulhuddart since January.
The protesters, who believe too much social housing is going to “non-national families who are not from the area”, are demanding at half of the new homes are set aside for local people on the housing list for the local authority, Fingal County Council.
“We have heard there are two lists,” another protester told The Irish Times.
“We don’t know how it works. What we do know is the list for the girls from around here has not dropped, and non-national families are moving in. We are tired of seeing the girls move out of the area, away from their family supports. Our communities are being broken,” she said.
One of the young women concerned said she had been on the list for seven-and-a-half years already, living cheek by jowl with her sister’s family in a home afflicted by damp, and is still only number 860 out of 6,959 applicants.
Interrogated on the question of whether or not the name ‘House the Irish First’ was racist, one of the women said their group had “nothing to do with racism” but that the housing situation “stokes racism… it makes you bitter…. we haven’t a problem with anyone who needs a house, but it has to be done fairly”.
Fingal County Council insisted it has “long-established policies which are the fairest way possible of allocating housing to those on the list”, based on “meeting the housing needs of the community which includes the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, the Traveller community and also a growing migrant population.”
Mulhuddart’s demographics have transformed dramatically in recent years, with 40 per cent of residents having been born abroad.”
Greece Scraps Plans to Build More Migrant Camps Following Protests on Overwhelmed Islands (breitbart, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/17/greece-scraps-plans-to-build-emergency-migrant-detention-camps/
“Greece’s government says it is suspending an emergency plan to build migrant detention camps on Greek islands near the Turkish coast to allow for negotiations with local authorities who strongly oppose the move.
Notis Mitarakis, the migration affairs minister, said Monday the plan announced last week has been put on hold until demands by authorities on the islands of Lesbos, Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos are discussed.
The government says it wants to replace existing overcrowded camps with closed facilities and has already issued land appropriation orders. But islanders staged protests against the proposed construction – setting up roadblocks on Lesbos – amid fears that the new sites would place an additional burden on their small communities.
Under a 2016 agreement between the European Union and Turkey, Lesbos and the four other islands have been used as natural barriers for migrants and refugees trying to reach the mainland of EU member Greece. That has resulted in serious overcrowding at the existing island camps and living conditions for migrants that U.N. officials have called horrific.”
UK: Rochdale Rapist Jailed After Police Find Child-Sized Bras, Pictures of Young Girls (breitbart, Feb 17, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/17/uk-rochdale-rapist-jailed-after-police-find-child-sized-bras-pictures-of-young-girls/
“A child rapist in Rochdale has been jailed after police discovered child-sized bras and a USB drive containing obscene images of young girls believed to be as young as seven-years-old.
Samiral Choudhury, 30, was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison after he confessed to having committed voyeurism, sexually penetrating a child under the age of 13 and sexual assault of a child under 13.
Choudhury was first arrested by police in Rochdale after a kilo of cocaine was found in his vehicle in 2017, which he was later sentenced to four years in prison for intent to distribute a class A drug. During the inspection of his car, police discovered a key to a metal lockbox in his flat, that was found to contain ten child-sized bras and a USB stick containing pornographic images of pre-pubescent girls reports the Manchester Evening News.
“The bras are described by an officer as training bras used by young girls who are just starting to develop breasts during puberty”, said the prosecutor in the case, Simon Blakeborough.
The convicted rapist did not comment on the underwear during the trial, however, officers believe that they were trophies taken from his victims…”

Trump Demands Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities
It’s time for leftist jailers who free dangerous illegal aliens to pay the price.
February 14, 2020
Matthew Vadum
Crime victims harmed by dangerous illegal aliens should be able to sue the so-called sanctuary jurisdictions that unleashed them on an unwitting public in defiance of federal immigration authorities, President Donald Trump declared in his State of the Union address. At the same time, he endorsed pending legislation that would accomplish this goal.
This is another politically astute immigration-related proposal from Trump who demonstrates time and time again that he is one of the few Republican presidents in modern American history who actually knows how to fight the Left. It puts the illegal alien-coddlers and open-borders fanatics on the defensive and educates the public in clearly understandable terms about who the bad guys really are in this fight over the nation’s future. It comes almost a year after Trump proposed shipping immigration detainees to sanctuary cities, which are Democrat strongholds.
As FrontPage readers know, the sanctuary movement gave illegal aliens permission to rob, rape, and murder Americans by, among other things, stigmatizing immigration enforcement. Some left-wingers call sanctuary jurisdictions “civil liberties safe zones” to blur the distinction between citizens and non-citizens by implying illegal aliens somehow possess a civil right to be present in the U.S. Leftists also like to refer to all migrants, including illegal aliens, simply as “immigrants” in order to further muddy the waters. This helps the Left portray conservatives, who are generally not anti-immigrant –they’re anti-illegal immigration— as xenophobic bigots.

East Coast Elitist Mike Bloomberg: “Anyone in This Room Can Be a Farmer” – You Need “Gray Matter” to be in Information Economy (VIDEO)

New York elitist Mike Bloomberg is in hot water again.
The Democrat hopeful had a rough weekend after several of his offensive comments surfaced online.
On Sunday night The Gateway Pundit reported on Bloomberg’s explanation on how it will be necessary to deny elderly health care in order to save money.
And then another clip surfaced from 2016 of Bloomberg attacking ignorant farmers for lacking gray matter.
Mike Bloomberg: “I could teach anybody in this room to be a farmer. It’s a process here, you dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on, add water, up comes the corn. You can learn that. Then you have 300 years of the industrial society… Now comes the information economy. And the information economy is fundamentally different, because it’s built around replacing people with technology and the skill sets you have to learn are how to think and analyze and that is a whole degree level different, you need to have different skill set, you have to have a lot more gray matter.”

Richard: Being a Farmer is a lot harder then that and requires a different set of Gray Matter Skills that Bloomberg doesn’t have.
That is the difference between being a tobacco farmer and a farmer who supports economic growth

The Democrat run shith*le states that make up the west coast have been experiencing a growing homeless crisis for several years. You can expect the governors to continue to make it look like they are doing something about the problem with their little task forces and special commissions they put together to examine the issue and make recommendations, which usually result in some new plan to raise taxes to create a new bureau of paper-pusher government employees who do nothing of added value.
