Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • Just the greatest news. This man remembers what the Nazis brought with them. I am certain he is now in heaven. Thank you so much Xanthippa.

    • SORRY. I just read the full story. They money was donated in 2018 and they seem to have trouble to recover the full amount. But still, it’s a feel-good story.

  1. Sweden: 88-year-old Rolf is homeless while migrants get everything for free / VIDEO

Swedish independent journalist Joakim Lamotte recently interviewed a nearly 90-year-old homeless man in Trelleborg. The man, Rolf Hansson, doesn’t receive any housing assistance from the municipal social services, and as a result is forced to eat, sleep and live in his car.

“He has worked and paid taxes his entire adult life, but now risks living his last days as a homeless person in Sweden since the municipality refuses to help him with a home or nursing home”, Lamotte wrote on Facebook.
The outspoken journalist also urged his readers to “put pressure” on those responsible so that Rolf does not have to live in a parking lot.

During the interview, tears run down Rolf’s cheeks. “Is this how it will end?”, says the 88-year-old man.
According to the municipality, there is no place for Rolf in a nursing home, even though he is almost 90 years old.
When Lamotte and Rolf visited the municipality office, the staff said that it is his own responsibility to find a place to live and that they couldn’t help in any way.

They two of them initially refused to leave the office before they could talk to a superior. But no boss came to talk to them.
Within just one day, Lamotte’s film got over 1,500,000 views on Facebook.
The leader of the Sweden Democrats’ opposition council in Trelleborg, Helmuth Petersén, says that the party immediately after hearing about the case sent out people to find the elderly homeless man.

“He’s been found now, I got a call just five minutes ago that he’s on his way to a hotel where we will install him. We will provide food and shelter until the municipality takes its responsibility”, Petersén says.

The SD politician says he is convinced that Rolf would have received help immediately if he had had “another surname”.
“It’s obviously the case that if you have a different last name, you get help earlier. He has a regular surname and then you may not get the help you are entitled to,” he concludes.

Feminists are now saying Traditional Wives are like ISIS terrorists / VIDEO

Women denouncing their sisters who publicly tout the virtues of traditional marriage and motherhood as victims of extremist brainwashing have substituted a creeping paternalism for feminism’s true aims.

Concern about the rise of the so-called ‘tradwife’ movement – young women embracing a return to pre-feminist gender roles in which the wife is expected to take care of her husband and children full-time rather than work outside the home – has exploded in recent months, bringing with it all the pearl-clutching think pieces and overwrought, undereducated opinionating that implies.

As the media establishment discovers the once-obscure community, self-described feminists have publicly registered their horror at the thought that women anywhere are embracing subservience to men, forgetting that giving women a choice about what kind of life to lead was once the point of feminism.

  3. A Montreal woman who returned recently from China says Quebec’s health-care system is woefully unprepared to deal with a coronavirus outbreak, and she criticized what she called the province’s slow and lax response to the global public health emergency.

The 50-year-old woman, who immigrated to Quebec more than two decades ago, visited her family for the Chinese New Year but cut short her trip to Tianjin, a city south of Beijing, after the 2019-nCoV virus started spreading through China last month.

“It would be a miracle if the virus didn’t start spreading in Canada,” said the woman, who decided to quarantine herself upon arrival in Montreal on Jan. 28 — nine days before Quebec’s top public health officer urged people returning from Hubei province to isolate themselves at home.

The woman, who agreed to be interviewed on condition of anonymity for fear of a public backlash, had visited relatives far from mainland Hubei, the epicentre of the coronavirus epidemic, where almost 32,000 people have been infected and nearly 1,000 have died.

Still, she contacted the Montreal Gazette in the hope that authorities adopt a more vigilant approach to the coronavirus. On Feb. 3, she wrote to Health Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier François Legault to express her concerns.

Police say the man who drove through a line of protesters last weekend will not face any charges, according to police chief Evan Bray.

On Feb. 8 protesters blocked the Albert Street bridge for half an hour in support of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation’s pipeline protest. Protesters walked into the crosswalks on either end of the Albert Street bridge, holding placards and chanting.

A car drove through the line though, as the protesters remained in the crosswalk at Albert Street and 19th Avenue. The Regina Police Service investigated the numerous complaints they received but Bray said Friday their investigation would not result in any charges.

Citing the investigation, Bray said the police understood the car approached the protests, that there was gap in the line and that he tried to proceed.

“His car was surrounded. He had his son in the car. He was a bit scared. He didn’t know what to do, and so ultimately drove through. No one was injured,” said Bray.

  8. Leader Warns of Western Plot to Force Iran to Give In to US Pressures

“Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned of extensive Western attempts at persuading the Iranian nation to cave in to the US’ pressures.

Speaking in a gathering of eulogists on the birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah (PBUH), held in Tehran on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned about the plots hatched by Western think tanks and the extensive Western media campaign for persuading the Iranian nation to give in to the US pressures.

“The Iranian nation has stood firm (against the enemies) so far, by God’s grace, and will continue to stand as well, but such resistance requires a constant injection of spiritual force into the society,” the Leader underlined.

Highlighting the prevailing “epic mood” in Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said people have always been part of the scene in every development requiring “vibrant and epic presence”, and added that keeping such a spirit up needs efforts to strengthen religious values and develop the culture.

“The Iranian nation’s endurance against the pressures of the savage monster, the US, which has astonished global observers, owes much to such (religious) knowledge,” the Leader underscored.

Ayatollah Khamenei also stressed that the Islamic Republic possess all sorts of assets, such as Islamic establishment, perfect military commanders, young and motivated scientific figures, determined cultural characters, and the people ready for action in all arenas.

“Thus, with such capacities, the definite and ultimate victory over the broad front of enemies will belong to the Iranian nation, by God’s grace,” the Leader added.

One of the superb religious teachings and a main aspect of the Islamic lifestyle is not being afraid of the enemy, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that the Iranian nation relied on God after victory of the Islamic Revolution, did not feel afraid of anyone, and could achieve progress and reach the top position in terms of scientific and technological standing as well as political position and regional influence.”

  9. Saudi FM Says No Direct Talks with Iran
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2133161/saudi-fm-says-no-direct-talks-iran

“Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Saturday no private messages or direct contact had taken place to ease tensions with Iran and that Tehran first needed to change its behavior before talks can happen.

“Until we can talk about the real sources of that instability, talk is going to be unproductive,” he told the Munich Security Conference.

“The only message Saudi Arabia sent to Iran was announced and clear to everyone. Before the killing of (Iran Revolutionary Guards Quds Forces commander) Qassem Soleimani, Iran had attacked our oil installations with 16 missiles, posing a threat to the global economy,” he continued.

“Iran supplies the Houthis with weapons to attack Saudi cities,” he added.

The Kingdom is prepared to hold talks “once Tehran acknowledges its hostile behavior and destabilizing influence on the region, including its firing of missiles at neighboring countries,” Prince Faisal stressed.

Only one side is behind the instability in the region, he added. “Iran is reckless and threatens the global economy.”

Turning to Yemen, the minister said Riyadh prioritizes the political solution through United Nations-sponsored dialogue, remarking: “We have always supported the political solution.”

Saudi Arabia will be committed to finding a way to dialogue and forge ahead if the Houthi militias were prepared to prioritize Yemen’s interest, not Iran’s, he stressed.

“All sides must help resolve the crisis in Yemen, not just Saudi Arabia,” he urged.

Prince Faisal had arrived in Munich on Friday where he held talks with numerous officials on the sidelines of the security conference.

On Saturday, he met with European Union high representative for foreign affairs Josep Borrell.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional and international developments and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the EU.

Prince Faisal also met with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.”

    • Saudi Foreign Minister … said on Saturday no private messages or direct contact … to ease tensions with Iran and that Tehran first needed to change its behavior…

      It’s all going on INDIRECTLY.
Saudi has been wilting under Iran’s aggression for months. The UAE already made some accommodations. All the money, the state of the art weaponry, yet unable to make even a gesture of self-defense.

PT has been – is alleged to have been – disgusted with these desert-dishrags.

Of course if/when the Twisted-Ragheads push too hard, it then costs the Gulfies too much face to back down. Then they have to reassert the appearance of strength. More mercenaries, trained-equipped & given diplomatic-PR cover by the USA.

  10. US: Iran Carried Out Attacks on Saudi Oil Facilities to Target Global Economy
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2132481/us-iran-carried-out-attacks-saudi-oil-facilities-target-global-economy

“The US mission to the UN has said that Iran continues its “program of terrorism, nuclear extortion, and destabilizing behavior.”

In a media note on the United Nations Yemen Panel of Experts Report, the mission reiterated that Iran attacked Saudi oil facilities in September last year.

“It was an attack not only against a sovereign state but against the global economy as well,” it said in a statement.

“The evidence pointed to Iran, despite unsubstantiated claims of responsibility by Houthi rebels in Yemen.”

It said the report of the panel of experts “confirms the truth that the Houthis could not have launched such an attack, reinforcing the conclusion of the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom that Iran bears responsibility.”

“Since its September attack, Iran has continued its program of terrorism, nuclear extortion, and destabilizing behavior. Iranian-backed militias have launched 12 rocket attacks against Iraqi military facilities hosting US service members and incited the December 31 assault on the US embassy in Baghdad,” said the mission.

It said that following the panel’s conclusions, the Security Council now has less than 36 weeks until the October expiration of the UN arms embargo to renew sanctions forbidding the sale of certain weapons systems to Iran.

“Iran’s intention to use its short-range missiles is clear, as Saudi oil-field workers and their families can attest.”

The mission warned that Iran’s possible use of more powerful weapons – should sanctions be lifted – is a matter of vital concern for the international community.

“Iran will continue to threaten regional peace and security absent effective action to counter its aggressive behavior, and the United States will accordingly work vigorously with other members of the United Nations to bring Iran into a place of peaceful and productive relations with its neighbors,” it said.

The report from the independent panel of experts, which reports twice a year to the Security Council on the implementation of sanctions related to the conflict in Yemen, has said that “despite their claims to the contrary, the Houthis did not launch the attacks on the Saudi oil facilities on September 14.

The Houthis “continue to receive military support in the form of assault rifles, rocket propelled grenade launchers, anti tank guided missiles, as well as more sophisticated cruise missile systems,” the report found.

“Some of those weapons have technical characteristics similar to arms manufactured in Iran,” it said.”

  11. Bahrain Prosecutes Iranian Bank Officials for Money Laundering
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2131226/bahrain-prosecutes-iranian-bank-officials-money-laundering

“Bahrain’s prosecution on Thursday submitted a case involving several people accused of money laundering for Iran and violating sanctions on Tehran through the Manama-based Future Bank.

Attorney General Ali bin Fadhel al-Buainain said: “Bahrain’s Public Prosecution Office has sent over to the court the cases of the people suspected of laundering enormous sums of money for Iran through one of the largest Bahraini banks, Future Bank, to finance terrorist activities.”

He added: “The central bank conducted an investigation with the bank’s employees and checked tens of thousands of documents with the participation of the interior ministry and independent international experts.”

Future Bank, which was based in Bahrain but set up and controlled by Iran’s Bank Saderat and Bank Melli, was shut down by Bahraini authorities in 2017.

“The bank has conducted thousands of financial operations providing cover to Iranian companies. The bank managed to hide approximately USD5 billion by conducting off-the-books operations,” Buainain said.

Further investigations found the bank to have executed thousands of international financial transactions worth USD7 billion while concealing the involvement of Iranian entities.

Staff deliberately removed information when transferring money via the SWIFT network – an illicit practice referred to as “wire stripping”. Another technique involved a covert messaging service as an alternative to SWIFT, which concealed transactions from Bahraini regulators.

Rasheed al-Maraj, the CBB governor, said the complexity and magnitude of the investigations were compounded by the need to disentangle the subterfuge of Iranian-backed financing of terrorism.

“Bahrain is committed to full implementation of international standards in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism,” he said. “Investigating and prosecuting violations is an essential part of protecting the integrity of the international financial system.”

Bahraini authorities suspended activities of the bank in 2012 due to UN sanctions on Iran. Manama has been accusing the bank of being a terrorism financing channel since Feb. 14, 2011.”

  12. Qatar says talks to end Gulf blockade collapsed in January
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/qatar-says-talks-end-gulf-blockade-collapsed-january

“Talks to end the blockade of Qatar by neighbouring states were suspended in January, the country’s foreign minister said on Saturday.

A number of Arab states severed political, trade and transport ties with Qatar in mid-2017, accusing the country of supporting terrorism.

Discussions began in October with an aim to ending the stand-off.

However, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said the talks had not succeeded.

“It’s been almost three years,” he said. “We were not perpetrators and are open to any offer to resolve this problem.”

“Unfortunately efforts did not succeed and were suspended at the beginning of January and Qatar is not responsible for this.”

Saudi Arabia along with its allies the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut all diplomatic, trade, and transport ties with Qatar in June 2017.

The four nations accused Doha of backing militant groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, and seeking closer ties with Saudi arch-rival Tehran – allegations Qatar vehemently denies.”

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200215-uae-businessman-calls-for-israel-to-invest-in-his-country/

“Amidst unprecedented normalisation of ties with Israel, prominent United Arab Emirates businessman, Ibrahim Ajami, has called for Israeli investors to invest in his country, The New Khalij news website reported on Friday.

Ajami’s remarks came during a conference held in Abu Dhabi and attended by Israeli investors.

“We are open for business in the region and we need to welcome all sorts of investors,” Ajami affirmed, according to CNBC.

Ajami then directed his comments to the Israeli investor, Aviad Eyal, co-founder of , a venture firm focused on Israel, with additional operations in the US and UK, adding:

We need to welcome investors, even investors that are very active in Israel and Israeli investors, that would ultimately come and see opportunity in the region. I don’t see why we should not do that.

“We as Mubadala invest in Europe and in the US, and there are exceptional Israeli management teams as part of these companies we invest in,” Ajami continued, according to CNBC. “So that’s the game that we need to play – if we want to be serious about tech, that’s what we have to do.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry praised Ajami’s remarks and retweeted them on its official Arabic twitter page.

Ajami is the CEO of the Advanced Technology Investment Company and head of ventures for Abu Dhabi wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company.”

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-bosnia/bosnian-police-tussle-with-migrants-protesting-over-camp-conditions-idUSKBN2090NY

“Bosnian police scuffled on Saturday with hundreds of migrants who tried to break out of an overcrowded camp during a protest over conditions at the facility and their treatment by authorities in nearby Croatia.

The Miral camp lies in western Bosnia, just 10 km (six miles) from the Croatian border, and currently houses about 1,000 migrants — 300 more than its capacity.

Witnesses saw police scuffling with migrants and detaining several people during Saturday’s protest, in which the mostly male protesters chanted “Freedom”, “Give us our money back” and “Stop beating us”.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Many of the migrants’ complaints were directed at Croatian border authorities, whom aid groups and migrants have repeatedly accused of violent push backs and mistreatment.

“The Croatian police are very, very bad. We want the border to be opened. Please don’t hit us anymore. Don’t remove our jackets, shoes and socks. They take it all,” camp resident Salam Batu told Reuters.

Croatian authorities deny accusations of police brutality…”

  15. Turkey destroys 903 mines, 1,720 explosives in N.Syria
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-destroys-903-mines-1-720-explosives-in-nsyria/1734915

“Turkish security forces have destroyed 903 mines and 1,720 improvised explosives in areas under its latest anti-terror operation in northern Syria, the country’s National Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

On Oct. 9, Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria east of the Euphrates River in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees, and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

The ministry said in a statement children were often the victims of mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by PKK/YPG terrorists in the Operation Peace Spring zone.

Turkey’s Defense Ministry, in cooperation with Turkish teachers from the country’s province of Sanliurfa, launched a training program on Feb. 5 for students and teachers at schools in the Operation Peace Spring zone.

“The training provided aims to protect the people in the region and especially children from any mines/IEDs set up by terrorists in towns and in the countryside by teaching them not to touch or move these devices when they spot them but rather inform immediately the military units,” said the ministry.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union — has been responsible for deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK.”

  16. IRGC Commander Boasts of 3,000 km-Wide ‘Axis of Resistance’ Stretching From Yemen to Lebanon
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202002151078324480-irgc-commander-boasts-of-3000-km-wide-axis-of-resistance-stretching-from-yemen-to-lebanon/

“Iran has rarely commented on the extent of its cooperation with Yemen’s Houthi militia, which maintains de-facto control over a wide area of the war-torn country and has been fighting a Saudi-led military coalition attempting to restore its ousted government.

Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force Commander Brig. Gen. Amir-Ali Hajizadeh has called on Iran’s partners in the unofficial ‘Axis of Resistance’ alliance to join together to defeat the US and Israel.

“All countries of the Axis of Resistance are united, and we must join hands to kick American troops out of the region and annihilate the Zionist regime,” Hajizadeh said, speaking to Yemen’s pro-Houthi al-Masirah television.

Boasting of the growing power of the alliance, the commander said that “today we are not only an Iranian Axis of resistance. Rather, the scope of the Axis of Resistance extends from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean and from Yemen’s Ansar Allah [Houthi] movement to Lebanon’s Hezbollah.”

Commenting on last month’s Iranian missile attack against US forces in Iraq in response to the killing of a senior Iranian commander in Baghdad, Hajizadeh suggested that the strikes severely damaged America’s reputation as a regional hegemon.

    Alleged Arms Shipments
On Thursday, US Central Command announced that the USS Normandy guided missile cruiser stopped and boarded a vessel in the Arabian Sea last Sunday and seized a “large cache” of Iranian-made weapons in the course of maritime security operations including anti-tank guided missiles and Iranian surface-to-air missiles, thermal imaging scopes and drone components, as well as other munitions and advanced weapons parts.

Iran has been cautious with regard to US, Saudi and Israeli claims suggesting that it provides weapons to the Houthis. The Houthis themselves have repeatedly downplayed their affiliation with the Islamic Republic, and Tehran has said that the Saudi-led coalition’s blockade of the war-torn country has made delivering assistance all but impossible.

At the diplomatic level, Tehran has repeatedly slammed the Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen, and offered to mediate to resolve the conflict.

Yemen became mired in a foreign-backed civil conflict in early 2015, following an uprising by the Houthi movement which ousted President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Hadi fled to Riyadh, and Saudi Arabia and a coalition of mostly Gulf allies launched a military operation in the southern Arabian country in March 2015. Five years on, the Houthis continue to maintain control of large swathes of Yemen, and have occasionally launched missile and drone attacks against targets in southern Saudi Arabia. Peace talks began in Stockholm, Sweden in December 2018, but have yet to reap results as both sides accuse one another of violating the ceasefire. On Saturday, a Saudi coalition spokesman confirmed that a Saudi warplane had crashed in northern Yemen. A day earlier, the Houthis reported downing an “enemy jet” using a new cutting-edge surface-to-air missile.”

  19. Ex-CIA Agent: Those Who Planned Coup Against Trump Are About To Be Indicted (Video)
February 15, 2020 Alex Hall 12761 Views 1 Comment Administrative Coup, CIA, Coup, Democrats, Donald Trump, IMPEACH, Impeachment, Nancy Pelosi

Both the corrupt democrats and corrupt republicans will do anything to get Trump out of office so they don’t lose their lifetime cushy corrupt jobs or end up in jail!

Their impeachment coup is another way Dems showing just how desperate they are.

But ait the end it could turn very bad for the people that planed the coup against President Trump.

President Donald Trump last month sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a raging, six-page letter in which he tore into the impeachment process which was underway at the time, calling it an “illegal, partisan attempted coup.”

He wasn’t far from the truth.

Huge news comes from someone who was inside the CIA and knows how things work.

Former CIA agent turned whistleblower, Kevin Shipp, held nothing back during an hour-long interview with Greg Hunter on USAWatchdog.com.

    Shipp:

“Yes, this is a coup. This is the most shocking violation of the Constitution and criminal activity in the history, not just of America, but of a western government. Much of this rises to the level of treason. People need to understand how shocking this is. It was a clear conspiracy. There will be arrests and indictments without question. . . . This was a coup. It was a conspiracy. It was criminal activity. These people need to be indicted, charged and need to be put in prison, and if they’re not, then our Constitution is nothing more than a sham. This was a coup against a duly elected President, and people need to understand how serious this is.”

“We have a not so covert civil war going on right now that has been brewing over 60 years. We have the ‘Dark Left,’ and the DNC is fully involved with all their Congressmen and Senators. There is a Marxist movement within the DNC that is in control right now. You can match up the progressive goals with Marxist documents, and you can see they are one in the same. . . . They have to change and eliminate the Constitution. . . . They want to change the First Amendment and the Second Amendment first of all. Second of all, they despise and are targeting Christianity because Christianity . . . underlines the Constitution and is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. That’s their second target they have to destroy. Their third target is the founding principles of America. That’s our culture. They have to destroy those three things if they are going to overturn our Constitution and turn this into a global Marxist government. That is not an understatement. . . . It’s not the same party of JFK. It’s now a Marxist party and an umbrella for every victim, twisted and perverted group that has nowhere else to go. This is a mortal blow to the Democrat Party when these things come out.”

Note: also says people in Gulags ‘were paid a living wage’ and that there were ‘conjugal visits’ in Gulags.

    No.

Women who got pregnant in Gulags either had sex through the fence that gender-segregated the inmates, or were raped by guards.

Nobody was paid a wage – much less a ‘living wage’. That is why so many had starved to death.

The Gulags’ effectiveness at genociding ‘unwanted populations’ was the blueprint for the Nazi Concentration Camps. Yes, the Nazis were more effective – but, that is just the German cultural construct…
