Terrorists in Syria’s Idlib de-escalation zone carried out more than 1,000 attacks over the last two weeks of January, killing Russian and Turkish military experts, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, terrorists have intensified their offensive killing hundreds of servicemen and civilians outside the de-escalation zone. The terrorists have also been attempting to launch drone attacks on Russia’s Hmeymim base.
On Wednesday, the Syrian army was completing the encirclement of the town of Saraqib in Idlib Province, a strategically important location at the crossroads of highways M4 (Latakia – Aleppo) and M5 (Damascus – Aleppo).
Fighting has intensified in Idlib amid the Syrian military’s operation to recapture the region from terrorists. Since 2012, Idlib province has been a stronghold of various militant factions, with the majority of it controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham**, known as the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda**

“Indian security forces eliminated three terrorists from the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed in an encounter near the city of Nagrota on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on 31 January. The three terrorists were travelling with three non-combatant sympathisers, who were arrested by the Special Operations Group.
During the Nagrota clash between security forces and militants on 31 January, three over-ground workers (OGWs) were arrested; the term is used in India to describe non-combatants who sympathise with the cause of the terrorists.
They revealed that a group of terrorists associated with Pakistan-based terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) are present in Amritsar, a city in the state of Punjab in north west India which shares a border with Pakistan.
Intelligence has revealed that terrorists, who entered the state from the Pakistani border in the state, are planning some major subversive activity in Punjab. It was also said that local terrorists present in Punjab were also in touch with the group.
According to Indian intelligence agencies, the three terrorists killed in the Nagrota encounter had received pistols, cartridges, arms and ammunition from their handlers in Pakistan.
The overground contact of the terrorists, on interrogation, revealed that he had hidden some pistols and cartridges a village in Amritsar district, which were recovered by Jammu and Kashmir police. These arms, handed over to them by Kashmir-based terrorists, were meant for their counterparts present in Amritsar.
One overground worker, identified as Sameer Dar, is a cousin of the 14 February 2019 Pulwama attack mastermind Adil Dar. JeM suicide bombers had attacked a troop convoy in the Pulwama district of Indian-administered Kashmir, killing 40 security forces.

The standoff between India and Pakistan became further exacerbated after New Delhi abrogated Article 370 of its Constitution, withdrawing the special status enjoyed by the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in early August 2019. Pakistan, which claims to be a stakeholder in Kashmir, went on a diplomatic offensive, suspending all bilateral relations with India. In the months since then, the situation still remains tense between the two nations, which have been at war three time since they gained independence from British colonial rule in 1947.”

“While SEB CEO openly considered punishing company boards with only white men an “inspiring” idea, these plans struck a chord with the public.
SEB, one of Sweden’s largest banks, is now seriously considering turning down corporate customers if the board is not “diverse” enough, the economic daily Dagens Industri reported.
According to the newspaper, SEB is taking cue from US-based multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs, whose CEO David Solomon stated during the recent World Economic Forum that from this summer on, diversity requirements will be imposed on its clients.
By his admission, Goldman Sachs won’t take companies public anymore unless they have at least one “diverse” board member, which means not a white man. Starting from 2021, the bank will look for at least two diverse board members, Solomon warned. Goldman Sachs itself has four women on its board of directors, out of eleven total members. While Solomon is the chairman of the board, its lead director is Nigerian-born Adebayo Ogunlesi.
SEB CEO Johan Torgeby called Goldman Sachs’s diversity requirements “extremely inspiring” and “very impressive”.
A similar solution may now be implemented at SEB, which has been owned by the Wallenbergs, a powerful tycoon family, since the mid-1850s, Torgeby implied.
“We must look at some type of diversity requirement on the board,” Torgeby said.
However, this idea didn’t go over well with Dagens Industri readers, who went on to vent their displeasure in the comments section.
“Sweden notably managed to obtain a leading position in the entire industrially developed world without the diversity that is now in demand. By contrast, history shows that diversity in most cases creates new conflicts,” a reader mused.
“Well then I believe the companies should boycott SEB! They should not interfere with the boards of other companies. It’s up to the owners to determine. (And the same goes for the politruks in Parliament),” another one fumed.
Yet another reader sarcastically suggested that to be consistent, the bank should impose the same demands on families and private customers.
“An entire household of 5-6 white people is not OK. As an adult, one must think about and endeavour to incorporate multiculturalism into the household. Mila spoke in public for the first time since the affair began on Monday evening on French television and defended her choice of words saying: “I did nothing wrong.”
“I absolutely do not regret my words. I don’t have to hide for this reason,” the teen said. But she added that she did regret using “vulgarity” during her comments when she stated on Instagram: “I hate religion. The Quran is… full of hate. There is only hate in it. Islam is a shit religion. That’s what I think.”
Following her initial comments, Mila was the subject of a massive wave of death threats and abuse from across France to the extent that police recommended that she not attend school and go into hiding under police protection, French newspaper Le Figaro reports.
She was also initially investigated under potential hate crime charges, but last week prosecutors dropped the case against her.
During her television interview this week, Mila described the various threats she received saying: “Considering the threats I received from people in my high school, I could have been burned with acid, hit. I was threatened with being stripped naked in public, of being buried alive. I had to drop out of high school.”
While many attacked Mila for her statements, others defended her freedom of speech including populist National Rally leader Marine Le Pen.
“We might find [the girl’s comments] vulgar, but we can’t accept the fact that some people sentence her to death for that in France in the 21st century,” the former presidential candidate said.
Mila’s comments, while vulgar, reflect a growing sentiment among the French public that Islam is not compatible with their society. A poll conducted in October 2019 revealed that 61 per cent of the French saw Islam as incompatible.”

“A Muslim father in Birmingham, England, is being prosecuted for removing his son from LGBT lessons, which he claim risk the safety of his child.
Jabar Hussain, 51, faces fines and potentially time in prison for removing his son for months from the Parkfield Community School in Alum Rock, Birmingham. The dispute emerged after the introduction of the LGBT inspired ‘No Outsiders’ curriculum, that inspired protests from mostly Muslim parents in the school district.
Mr Hussain argued that curriculum is contrary to his faith, and that forcing his nine-year-old son to attend LGBT classes infringed upon his religious rights. The Muslim father cited a book entitled Introducing Teddy, in which a boy teddy bear says that he would prefer being a girl, as an example of unacceptable coursework for a child, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Should the court decide against Mr Hussain, he could face a fine of up to £2,500 and a possible prison sentence of three months.
“This prosecution criminalises him for not submitting to teaching in breach of his rights,” said Hussain’s lawyer.
“He (Mr Hussain) considers the school’s approach presents a safeguarding risk to his child,” added the attorney.
Jabar Hussain has said in the past that he did not want his child to be taught that ‘it is okay to be gay’ and argued that the ‘No Outsiders’ lessons created by Parkfield Community School’s former assistant headmaster, Andrew Moffat, promoted transgendersim and homosexuality to the young pupils.
“We are not against anyone expressing their sexuality or being homosexual if that’s what they want,” he said at a protest in September.
“We have no issue if Mr Moffat wants to put on a dress, or dance around like a ballet dancer, or put on a skirt, we have no issue. We have an issue with teaching that nonsense to our kids,” Hussain added.
In March of 2019, approximately 600 children were removed by parents, in protest over the LGBT curriculum, from the same Birmingham primary school, in which 98 per cent of the student body follow Islam.
One parent, Abdul Ma, said at the time: “This is a brainwash. We bring our children here so they can later work as a solicitor or a teacher, not to be taught about being gay or a lesbian.””

German Paper Admits Most ‘Boat Migrants’ Not Real Refugees (breitbart, Feb 6, 2020)

“German newspaper Die Welt has admitted that most of the migrants coming in boats across the Mediterranean are not genuine refugees and are unlikely to gain asylum status.
The paper’s political editor Marcel Leubecher made the admission in an editorial article for the paper this week, noting the rise of migrants crossing into Europe both into Italy across the Mediterranean and across the Aegean sea into Greece.
“Contrary to popular belief, the majority of those arriving in Italy are not refugees. The main countries of origin for boat migrants in January were Algeria, Ivory Coast, and Bangladesh,” Leubecher wrote.
He went on to note that 95 per cent of the asylum applications from the aforementioned countries were rejected and that Libyans made up hardly any of the asylum seekers who arrived in Europe despite their country being in the middle of civil conflict.
According to Italian Interior Ministry data, while the highest number of migrants set out to Italy from Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and even Turkey saw large numbers of migrants set sail for Italy from their shores as well.
While many of the migrants coming into Europe are unable to claim asylum or refugee status, a high number remain in Europe, despite orders to deport them.
In 2018, the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) admitted that only a small fraction of failed African asylum seekers have actually been deported from the country and most have a high possibility of never being deported at all.
Even when migrants have been deported, many of them simply return to Europe. A total of 28,283 migrants are known to have returned to Germany since 2012 after being deported, 5,000 of which have done so on multiple occasions.
Other countries like the UK have not fared better when it comes to deporting illegal failed asylum seekers. According to a report released last month, just 15 per cent of migrants coming into Britain illegally are actually sent back to their country of origin.”

The move came after a rare confrontation between Turkey and Syria on Monday that killed seven Turkish soldiers and a Turkish civilian member of the military, as well as 13 Syrian soldiers.
In Moscow, the Foreign Ministry announced that Russian soldiers have been killed in a northern Syrian province alongside Turkish servicemen, without saying when the incident occurred. The ministry blamed “terrorists” for the deaths, saying that the attacks in Idlib province intensified in January.
“Russian and Turkish military specialists died tragically,” the statement said, without specifying when and how many Russian soldiers were killed.
Moscow and Ankara are on opposite sides of the Syrian civil war — Russia is a main backer of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces while Turkey supports insurgents fighting his government.
Syrian troops have been advancing since December into the country’s last rebel stronghold, which spans across the Idlib province and parts of nearby Aleppo region. Turkish troops are deployed in some of those rebel-held areas to monitor an earlier cease-fire that has since collapsed.
Turkey has set up four military posts in northwestern Syria to prevent Syrian government forces from marching deeper into Idlib, Syria’s Foreign Ministry said, adding that Turkish troops have “flagrantly violated” Syria’s border and deployed in several areas, including the villages of Binnish, Taftanaz and Maaret Musreen.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitoring group, said Syrian warplanes on Thursday attacked a military air base in the village of Taftanaz where Turkish troops deployed recently.
The Observatory and Syrian state TV said that government forces have laid a siege on the town of Saraqeb, which sits on the intersection of two major highways, one linking the Syrian capital of Damascus to the north, and the other connecting the country’a west and east.

The CCP has created the perfect storm of calamities that are making it all but impossible for the CCP to remain in power. If as so many believe the Wuhan flu as deliberately released this was done with the CCP knowing about the Swine Flu and having a plan on how to keep a livable amount of food delivered to the Chinese peple. Now the Brid Flu has hit and they are hving to slaughter and burn large numbers of their commerical bird crops. All of those have to be replaced and the food distributed from the ships to the rest of China. This is placing new stress on their quarantine which wasn’t very good in the first place. At least eight people were arrested in NewYork on Wednesday during a protest against the outcome of the President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
Hundreds of New Yorkers expressed their discontent with the Senate’s vote acquitting Trump on both charges of abuse of power and obstruction of congress.

Terror attack in central Jerusalem leaves 12 Israeli soldiers injured
Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene after ramming a car into a group of people in Jerusalem, injuring 12 IDF soldiers and reportedly two more people.
The incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
The suspect rammed a group of people at high speed shortly before 2am local time on Thursday.
The IDF said that out of the 12 injured soldiers, one sustained severe wounds.
Clashes in Bethlehem as Israeli forces in search of car-ramming attacker
Protesters clashed with Israeli forces as they carried on several raids in the West Bank city of Bethlehem on Thursday in a manhunt for a driver who allegedly carried out a car-ramming attack against Israeli soldiers in West Jerusalem earlier on the day.
Footage shows the raids sparking clashes between the soldiers and dozens of Palestinians who met the platoon with rocks and other projectiles. The Israeli soldiers responded by firing rubber-coated bullets, sound bombs and tear gas canisters reportedly injuring several.
The Israeli army unit conducted raids in other neighbouring towns like Beit Jala where the vehicle involved in the attack was reportedly spotted by the Israeli army.
At least 12 soldiers were injured, one of them seriously, amid a suspected car-ramming attack in Jerusalem on early Thursday.

The group who tried to cross the Channel’s dangerous waters have been taken to Dover in Kent to be medically assessed and interviewed. “Border Force vessels Searcher, Speedwell and Alert have been sent, along with RNLI lifeboats from Dover and Littleston, a fixed wing aircraft and an HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter from Lydd.
“HM Coastguard is only concerned with preservation of life, rescuing those in trouble and bringing them safely back to shore, where they will be handed over to the relevant partner emergency services or authorities.”
The English Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world and around 500 ships pass through the strait each day.
Last week, 28 migrants were brought ashore after the boat they were in was intercepted off Kent.
After the rescue, Home Office director for crime and enforcement Tony Eastaugh said: “We are tackling illegal migrant crossings on all fronts with every agency including Border Force, Immigration Enforcement, National Crime Agency and policing teams working in tandem with the French and Belgian authorities.”
Last week, UK officials met with French and Belgian authorities to improve co-operation.

Supporters of Sadr raid anti-govt protesters’ camp in Iraq’s Najaf, at least 5 killed
At least five people were killed and dozens more wounded after supporters of Shia Muslim cleric Muqtada al-Sadr raided a camp of anti-government protesters in Najaf on Wednesday.
Footage shows the aftermath of the attack and some of the activists who were injured in the clashes.
Al-Sadr supporters attempted to remove demonstrators from the camp where they held a sit-in.
The attack which is the latest in a series of violent clashes came after the cleric called on his supporters to back security forces.
Al-Sadr who changed his position on the anti-government protests a few times withdrew his support for the protests again after Mohammad Allawi was appointed prime minister-designate on Sunday.

The host asked him regarding the practice of female circumcision in Egypt and pointed out that some expert medical opinions say that the practice is harmful and can lead to death.

Police used tear gas on protesters as clashes erupted on Thursday in Lyon during the latest round of strikes against pension reforms.
Dozens of police officers in riot gear can be seen charging towards protesters as tear gas billows near the Manufacture des Tabacs area of Lyon.
Thousands of members of the National Trade Union (CGT) joined the protest waving banners, flags and chanting anti-government slogans.
The CGT reported 8,000 people at the march whilst the police reported an estimated 5,300 people.

A German state premier elected with the help of the far-right AfD says he is resigning to pave the way for fresh elections.
The election of liberal leader Thomas Kemmerich in the eastern state of Thuringia prompted national outrage.
“Resignation is unavoidable,” he said. For years Germany’s main parties have shunned Alternative for Germany (AfD).
Chancellor Angela Merkel – whose own party also backed Mr Kemmerich – called Wednesday’s election “unforgivable”.
The AfD has grown in popularity in recent years but has been condemned for its extreme views on immigration, freedom of speech and the press.
Wednesday’s vote was described as a political earthquake as it was the first time the AfD helped form a government in Germany, breaking a consensus among the main parties to never work with extremist parties.
Mr Kemmerich has now announced he will seek new elections in the state,“to remove the stain of the AfD’s support for the office of the premiership”.
He will need a two-thirds majority to dissolve the chamber and bring about a fresh vote.
What happened in Thuringia?
Despite the AfD having broad support in Thuringia, the state election in October was won by the far-left Die Linke. And the liberal Free Democrats (FDP) had just 5% of the vote, barely scraping into the local parliament in the state capital, Erfurt.
But on Wednesday, in the secret vote to pick the leader of the government, Mr Kemmerich of the FDP beat Die Linke’s leader Bodo Ramelow by 45 votes to 44 – thanks to votes from the AfD.
Mr Kemmerich also got votes from local MPs in his FDP and Mrs Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU), prompting outrage from critics, who said the two centre-right parties had apparently made a pact with the far right.
Mr Kemmerich insisted there had been no co-operation with the far right and accused the AfD of carrying out a “perfidious trick to harm democracy”.
However, there are now suggestions the FDP and AfD had discussed a pact in Thuringia before.
A letter sent by AfD’s Thuringia leader to Mr Kemmerich on 1 November has gone viral on Twitter, in which the regional AfD leader offered his party’s support – either to form a technocratic government or a minority FDP-led government. It would break the long-standing red-red-green ruling coalition in Thuringia, he said.
The letter, first reported by regional broadcaster MDR at the time, shows that the AfD was seeking a deal long before Wednesday’s political shock.

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany (AFP) — The premier of Germany’s Thuringia state stepped down and called for snap elections Thursday, barely 24 hours after he was elected with the help of far-right AfD lawmakers in a vote Angela Merkel called “unforgivable.”
Thomas Kemmerich, from the liberal Free Democrats (FDP), said he would apply for the regional parliament to be dissolved in response to the outrage over his appointment, which drew comparisons with the rise of the Nazis in the 1930s.
“We want new elections to remove the stain of the AfD’s support from the office of the premiership,” he told reporters, adding that his resignation was “unavoidable.”
Kemmerich’s election on Wednesday marked the first time in German post-war history that a state premier was helped into office by accepting far-right votes, crossing a red line in a nation haunted by its Nazi past.
He became the surprise winner of a run-off vote after AfD lawmakers ditched their own candidate to back him, in what Kemmerich called “a perfidious trick” by the far right.
Chancellor Merkel called the vote “unforgivable” and said the result “must be reversed.”
She reiterated that her center-right CDU would never work with the anti-Islam, anti-immigrant AfD, on a regional or national level.
Thousands took to the streets in cities across Germany late Wednesday to vent their dismay at the vote outcome, including in Berlin, Frankfurt and Thuringia’s capital Erfurt.
Some carried signs that read “Never again,” while others recalled that it was in Thuringia in 1930 that a Nazi minister was first allowed into government.
The aftershocks of the crisis were being felt in Berlin too, since Thuringian state lawmakers from Merkel’s own CDU lined up with the FDP and far right in voting for Kemmerich over popular incumbent Bodo Ramelow from the far-left Die Linke.
Merkel’s coalition partners, the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), reacted furiously to the debacle, calling for her conservative party to clearly distance itself from the AfD if the national government is to survive.
“There can be no carrying on as usual without resolving this problem,” fumed SPD co-leader Norbert Walter-Borjans.
The SPD and CDU are due to hold crisis talks in Berlin on Saturday.
Addressing the controversy during a visit to South Africa, Merkel called Wednesday’s vote “a bad day for democracy” and said the role played by her local allies “broke with the values and convictions of the CDU.”
Christian Lindner, national leader of the FDP, one of Germany’s smaller parties, said Kemmerich was right to free himself “from dependency on the AfD.”
But given the political storm, Lindner said it was necessary to reaffirm his own position at an emergency meeting of the party’s leadership in Berlin on Friday.
“I plan to call a vote of confidence,” he told reporters.
In states across Germany’s former communist east, the AfD is a major political force and mainstream parties are increasingly scrambling to keep it locked out of the corridors of power.
In Thuringia, the AfD is led by Bjoern Hoecke, one of the party’s most radical figures who has called for a “180-degree turn” in Germany’s atonement for Nazi crimes.
A picture of Hoecke shaking hands with Kemmerich after the election win was splashed across the front pages of several German newspapers.
“The handshake of shame,” screamed best-selling daily Bild, slamming Kemmerich for “letting himself be elected by a neo-Nazi.”
On social media, the picture was quickly twinned with one of Adolf Hitler shaking hands with German president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933, the year Hitler became chancellor.
Since its creation in 2003, the AfD has gone from strength to strength in Germany, capitalizing on anger over Merkel’s 2015 decision to allow in over a million Middle Eastern asylum seekers.
At the last general election, the party scored almost 13 percent nationwide and won its first seats in the German parliament.
The SPD’s Walter-Borjans warned that the world was watching how Germany was dealing with the rise of the far right and the “breach in the dam” in Thuringia.
“What has happened here is a signal that we can’t allow to go unanswered,” he said.

Germany: Voters torn over AfD backing for Thuringia leader
Voters in Erfurt seemed torn regarding the election of a new Thuringian Minister President Thomas Kemmerich thanks to votes from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), in a series of interviews on Thursday.
A picture of former minister president Bodo Ramelow from Die Linke was placed outside the Erfurt State Chancellory, while a small gathering of protesters opposed the election results.
“Bodo Ramelow had a clear majority, everybody knows this. So, this is a fraud,” said demonstrator Clauida Haase.
In turn, another protester Fritz Wolfgang accused the Free Democrats (FDP) leader Christian Lindner of “drifting towards the AfD” and that Kemmerich, the party’s leader in Thuringia, “should have said I don’t accept the [results of the] election.”
Werner Haubel instead praised the AfD for having “outwitted everyone.” “They took revenge for being excluded,” he added.
Kemmerich announced on Thursday that he would resign and request a dissolution of the state parliament following the outcry over his election.
He had won support from the AfD and the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) to defeat the incumbent Ramelow by one vote.

A vigil was held outside the Thuringian State Chancellory in Erfurt on Thursday morning following the election of a new regional leader thanks to the support of the far-right.
Protesters brought banners, homemade signs and flags to the picket.

A military advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has said Iranians should fast Ramadan-style to show “the enemy” they can resist its sanctions. In other words: The less you eat, the stronger you will become.
Iran’s former Minister of Defense, Hossein Dehqhan, speaking on February 1 at an event dubbed “The Idea of Resistance in Imam’s (Khomeini) School of Thought,” stated that Iranians should follow the teachings of the founder of the Islamic Republic. He stressed that “If America is sanctioning us and wants to keep us hungry,” then the people should fast to show their resistance.
U.S. sanctions have brought the Iranian economy to a standstill, devaluing its currency fourfold and deepening the impoverishment of working-class people. This has led to consecutive protests, destabilizing the ruling regime.

The Treasury Department has complied with GOP Senators and handed over highly sensitive financial records on Hunter Biden and his associates.
GOP Senators Grassley (IA) and Johnson (WI) this week requested the official travel documents of Hunter Biden from the US Secret Service.
The Senators are expanding their investigation and just received “evidence of questionable origin” from the Treasury Department.
The Senate committee is also seeking documents on Hunter Biden from the State Department, Justice Department and the National Archives.

Belgium’s Wallonia region halts arms sales to Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry

“The Belgian region of Wallonia, home to the FN Herstal and CMI arms plants, said on Thursday, February 6 that it had halted weapons sales to Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry because of the war in Yemen.
Confirming a report in the newspaper L’Echo, Wallonia said Minister-President Elio di Rupo had “the Yemen drama” in mind when refusing an export license to the Royal Saudi Air Force.
In a letter seen by AFP, it added “the minister-president refuses all licenses for the Saudi Defense Ministry.”
Saudi Arabia’s Royal Guard and National Guard, which French-speaking Wallonia sees as less implicated in the Yemeni conflict, will continue to receive Belgian weapons and ammunition.
The Royal Guard protects the royal family and reports directly to the king, while the National Guard, the country’s domestic defense force, answers to its own ministry.
In Belgium, licenses for arms sales are issued by regional governments, and human rights groups have been lobbying Wallonia to halt shipments to the Saudis.
Saudi Arabia intervened in the almost five-year civil war in its southern neighbor to support the government side, but the conflict has claimed tens of thousands of civilian lives.
The kingdom is one of the world’s biggest arms purchasers, spending billions with the United States and the United Kingdom in particular. Riyadh depends less on Belgium arms, but is nevertheless Wallonia’s number one customer, accounting for €225 million ($247 million) in a €950 million industry in 2018.
FN Herstal, which makes rifles and machine guns, and John Cockerill (CMI), which specializes in gun turrets for armored vehicles, employ 4,400 Belgians between them. The regional government is FN Herstal’s sole shareholder.
Wallonia’s announcement came as a coalition of human rights groups denounced the imminent arrival in France of a cargo ship said to be picking up European weapons for the Saudis.
Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Germany ended their arms sales to Saudi Arabia in 2018 in response to the situation in Yemen and the murder of Khashoggi. Germany’s Bundestag extended its ban again late last year.
Spain initially said it would block a 2018 sale of laser-guided bombs to Saudi Arabia but reversed the decision amid concerns that the cancellation could jeopardize a €1.8 billion order of five Corvette warships.
The U.S., Canada, U.K. and France have continued to sell arms to Saudi Arabia despite calls from rights groups and efforts by members of their governments to halt the practice.
The United Nations has accused the U.S., U.K., France and Iran of complicity war crimes committed by parties receiving those countries’ support in Yemen’s civil war.
The U.N. has called Yemen’s war the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with more than 3 million displaced and 24 million in need of aid.”
