Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    “With one of the most generous welfare systems in the world and benefit rates even higher than in the fellow Nordic states, Denmark was seen as an “ideal setting” for studying the “welfare magnet” problem.

    Generous social security schemes attract larger migrant crowds, a study of the Danish system called The Welfare Magnet Hypothesis, which was conducted by Princeton University economists Ole Agersnap, Amalie Jensen and Henrik Kleven has concluded.

    The researcher trio studied the effects of welfare generosity on international migration using a series of large changes in welfare benefits for immigrants in Denmark, and concluded that immigrants were more likely to come to Denmark when they could pick up more welfare.

    The researchers traced a series of changes in Denmark’s immigration laws and their repercussions. They admittedly saw Denmark as an “ideal setting” for studying this question. Denmark, they argued, has “one of the most generous welfare systems in the world”, with benefit rates “even higher than in fellow Nordic welfare states”.

    The first change, implemented in 2002 under the liberal-conservative government of future NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, lowered benefits for immigrants from outside the EU by about 50 percent, with no changes for natives or immigrants from inside the EU. The policy was repealed in 2012 following the election of a centre-left government, and then re-instituted in 2015 after the return of a centre-right government.

    The Danish government was even active in disseminating information about the welfare scheme to potential immigrants. For instance, it ran an ad campaign in Lebanese newspapers informing refugees of the reduced benefits.

    This, according to the researchers, allowed for a “quasi-experimental research design” with “sizeable effects”.

    “The benefit reduction reduced the net flow of immigrants by about 5,000 people per year, or 3.7 percent of the stock of treated immigrants, and the subsequent repeal of the policy reversed the effect almost exactly,” the research team stressed.

    Since Denmark was just one small country, the researchers concluded, its welfare system cannot be expected to affect decisions to emigrate from, say, Afghanistan. However, it affects the decision by an Afghan migrant to locate in Denmark instead of, say, neighbouring Sweden or Germany, the researchers pointed out.

    “While there are many non-welfare factors that matter for migration decisions, our evidence implies that, conditional on moving, the generosity of the welfare system is important for destination choices,” the researchers concluded.

    Over the last four decades, Denmark has seen a strong upward trend in the number of immigrants. The share of first-generation immigrants in the population has spiked from 3 percent in 1980 to over 10 percent in 2017. Immigrants from non-EU countries, those targeted by the welfare scheme, constitute the largest group, accounting for 67 percent of all first-generation immigrants in 2001, the year before the scheme was introduced.

    Apart from sharp spikes in 1995 and 2015, due to the Yugoslavia war and the Syria war, the net flow of non-EU immigration has averaged about 8,000 people per year.

    As of today, Denmark now has a foreign-born population share comparable to that of the US (13.5 percent), the researchers pointed out.”

  4. Austria: Muslim states at police checkpoint “I’m not talking to women they have no rights.”+++
    On December 1, 2019 around 6 p.m. police officers noticed a car in Neuhofen which was parked in front of a bank with a running engine on the sidewalk directly in front of a zebra crossing. They checked the vehicle and also the driver returning from the bank to his car – a 22-year-old Kosovar from the Linz Land district. The latter was not willing to participate in the proceedings. After he was instructed after the urge to take the breathalyzer test that he was no longer allowed to smoke, he lit a cigarette and refused the breathalyzer test. He underlined this by saying that he would not talk to a woman anyway, as she would have no rights. The officers asked him to hand over the car keys. However, he did not comply, but got into his car and drove a few meters forward. He then got out again and started yelling at the officers. He announced that friends of his were already on their way to the scene. On the basis of these statements, the officers requested further patrols for assistance.These were used to block the 22-year-old’s car in such a way that he was prevented from leaving. Then the man calmed down. He is brought to justice.

    Our tweet of the day comes from Suleman Malik, who calls himself the “first Muslim local politician of Thuringia and deputy mayor of Erfurt. He twitters under the motto “Love for all, hate for none”. This love shows itself among other things in the fact that it announces to the people of Erfurt that the construction of a new mosque in their city is only the beginning:

    And this provocation is having an effect. Suleman meets fierce resistance against his manner of love: “Germany was and is a Christian country. I would say that for every mosque in Germany a Christian church is built in a Muslim country for the Christian minority and the persecution of the Christian minority is also stopped,” replies one of the Twitter users.

    YouTube has banned two Tory election videos following complaints from the BBC, the Independent reported.

    The videos were criticised for taking footage of BBC news presenters and editing them to show that they agreed with the Conservative policies. The party, however, insists that the videos had not been edited in a way to mislead or change the reporting.

    According to YouTube, the adverts were seen as many as a million times, and the Tories spent as much as €30,000 to promote them.

    Earlier this week, the videos were removed from Facebook on copyright grounds.

    “We have removed this content following a valid intellectual property claim from the rights holder, the BBC,” the social network said.

    However, it did not comment on whether the videos were misleading.

    The journalists featured on the videos were newsreader Huw Edwards and political editor Laura Kuenssberg. Both welcomed the decision to remove the adds.

    The removal of the videos comes days after Google banned eight other Tory ads from the site, without, however, specifying the reasons for that.”

    “Usman Khan’s accomplice has twice been recalled to prison after breaking the terms of his release licence.

    Mohammed Chowdhury, 29, was jailed along with London Bridge attacker Khan in 2012 for a plot to bomb the London Stock Exchange in 2010.

    Bangladeshi-born Chowdhury, who came to the UK in 2004 and was granted indefinite leave to remain, was described as the ‘linchpin’ of the foiled al-Qaida-inspired plot.

    He was released in January 2018 after serving half his sentence of 13 years and eight months, with more than a year on remand, but was recalled in November that year for breaching the terms of his licence, The Times reported.

    Chowdhury, who was living in east London, was released again in June with a series of conditions sanctioned by a Parole Board panel – but weeks later he was recalled for a second time.

    He is making a bid for freedom – with another release hearing scheduled for February next year.

    A Parole Board spokesman told MailOnline: ‘We can confirm the parole review of Mohammed Chowdhury has been referred to the Parole Board and is following standard processes.

    ‘The job of the Parole Board is to determine if someone would represent a significant risk to the public after release.

    ‘The panel will carefully look at a whole range of evidence, including details of the original evidence and any evidence of behaviour change. We do that with great care and public safety is our number one priority.’

    The specific reasons for his previous recalls are not known, but generally they can occur for any breach of a licence from not maintaining contact with a probation officer to committing further offences.

    Indications that an offender is acting similarly to the main offence that landed them in prison, or that they could commit a violent or sexual crime, can also cause a recall.

    The judge who sentenced Chowdhury and the Stock Exchange gang, Mr Justice Wilkie, had said at the time the group were determined to commit ‘high profile violent terrorist action’ even though they were ‘complete novices’ without any real thought as to how to avoid being caught.

    It was said Chowdhury was the ‘conduit’ of the nine jihadists, who were split across groups in Stoke, London and Cardiff.

    He was recorded going through literature from Al-Qaeda’s magazine Inspire that detailed ‘how to make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom’.

    The court heard that he had been in touch with convicted hate preacher Anjem Choudary and was administrator for Bangladeshi jihadist groups Authentic Tawheed and Sharia for Bangladesh…”

    “An angry mob carrying banners and chanting slogans attempted to storm the offices of the Dawn newspaper in Islamabad on Monday after the outlet corrected identified the London Bridge attacker as a “man of Pakistani origin.”

    Last week, jihadist Usman Khan stabbed five people, two fatally, in Central London. Khan had been released from prison last year on license after having served a sentence for terrorist offenses.

    In its report of the incident, Dawn noted that he was a “U.K. national of Pakistani origin,” unlike other newspapers in the country that described him as a born and raised British citizen with no links to Pakistan.

    Although it is unclear just how closely connected to Pakistan, the claim that Khan was of “Pakistani origin,” presumably meaning that he is ethnically Pakistani, as verified by the left-wing Guardian, is correct.

    In their report, Dawn caveated the claim with the fact that it was The Telegraph who reported that he was “a British citizen born in the UK and of Pakistani origin [who] left school with no qualifications after spending part of his late teens in Pakistan, where he lived with his mother when she became ill,” before returning to the UK and becoming radicalized.

    Describing its version of events, Dawn reported that the mob “remained outside the office building for nearly three hours, besieging the premises and making the staffers hostage.”

    “They prevented the employees from entering or leaving the building and demanded a written apology,” the newspaper noted. “Some of the protesters also misbehaved with the newspaper as well as Dawn TV employees when they arrived at the office.”

    “After lengthy negotiations with the newspaper management in the presence of an assistant commissioner, the protesters finally agreed to disperse after hurling warnings,” they continued.

    The incident was widely condemned by Pakistan’s more liberal political journalistic bodies, with the opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari saying in a statement that “no one should be allowed to attack media outlets in the name of protest.” He also demanded “action against the crowd which attacked the newspaper office and vowed to side with the journalist fraternity.”

    The leader of the National Party Ayub Malik also labeled the incident an “attack on media freedom,” calling for strict punishments against those responsible. The incident was also condemned by both the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the National Press Club (NPC).

    Furious mob retaliation are common in Pakistan and is most often carried out by hardline Muslim groups against those who have supposedly violated the country’s strict blasphemy laws. In September, police arrested a Hindu principal on charges of blasphemy, prompting a mob to ransack his temple and damage a school and homes belonging to the minority group.”

    “A poll has revealed that nearly two-thirds of Britons think that the BBC is biased.

    A Norstat poll of 1,108 Britons taken between the 21st and 29th of November and reported in Guido Fawkes found that 38 per cent of respondents said that the public broadcaster was “somewhat biased” while 26 per cent said it was “greatly biased”. Overall, a total of 64 per cent of people believe that the BBC expresses some degree of bias.

    Broken down by Leave and Remain voters, 72 per cent of Leavers said that the BBC was “somewhat” or “greatly” biased, but even 59 per cent of Remainers expressed the same opinions.

    The BBC has been accused of liberal or anti-Brexit bias in the past. A report of News-Watch in 2017 and another from the think tank Civitas in 2018 both found that pro-Leave opinions were suppressed over the years on the Today programme, BBC Radio 4’s flagship news and currents affairs show.

    Veteran broadcaster and retired host of Today John Humphrys said after leaving the broadcaster that he felt relieved to be free of “the BBC Thought Police”. He later criticised the BBC for failing to live up to its pledge to be neutral by expressing a liberal-progressive bias in the transgender and immigration debates. Mr Humphrys, a Remain supporter himself, also detailed the widespread devastation of his colleagues and bosses over the 2016 vote to leave the EU.

    The survey results come as Ofcom determined that it would not be investigating Channel 4 for bias after replacing Prime Minister Boris Johnson with a melting block of ice during a televised leaders’ election debate devoted solely to climate change.

    The Conservatives had complained to broadcasting regulator Ofcom after the programme had refused to accept Michael Gove as a replacement for Mr Johnson, opting instead to dramatically ’empty chair’ the prime minister, and alleged anti-Conservative bias at the network.

    The watchdog ruled it was acceptable for Channel 4 to insist that only Mr Johnson could represent the Tories and deemed that replacing him with a melting piece of ice did not breach impartiality rules, according to The Guardian.

    Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has also been replaced with an ice sculpture of the earth after boycotting the November 28th debate.

    The Brexit Party had said in a statement before the debate: “We have no faith that the broadcaster will conduct this debate in a fair and objective way. Brexit is the defining issue of our age and the fact that Channel 4 does not want to discuss it speaks volumes about this broadcaster and its Remain position.”

    Mr Farage had earlier criticised the BBC as an “outdated anachronism whose political behaviour since the referendum has been biased at every single level” before revealing that under Brexit Party rules there would be a “phasing out of the BBC licencing fee over the coming years”.”

    “A teenager from an Albanian background was arrested after attacking another teen dressed as Saint Nicholas’s demonic counterpart “Krampus” during a festive parade in Switzerland.

    The attack took place at a Saint Nicholas parade in the Swiss municipality of Rickenbach in the district of Winterthur on Saturday and saw the Albanian-background teen attack a 17-year-old Swiss who was dressed as “Schmutzli”, the Swiss name for the demon Krampus, Austrian tabloid Kronen Zeitung reports.

    The Swiss teen was slashed in the back with a folding knife and was taken to a local hospital where he required several stitches. The victim told local media: “I do not want to make a big story out of it and love to forget it as fast as possible.”

    He went on to add that he did not provoke the Albanian-background youth and said the ordeal left him frightened because the attack had come out of nowhere. Police arrested the attacker but released him the next day.

    The tradition of Krampus is centuries old in Switzerland, Austria, southern Germany, and other parts of Central Europe. It involves locals dressing up as the half-goat demon who punishes children who have misbehaved at Christmas time.

    Last year, another violent incident occurred at a Krampus event in Klagenfurt, Austria, when an observer grabbed the horns of a Krampus who he claimed was too close to a child. The man dressed up as Krampus then took off his mask and punched the man in the face.

    Authorities across Europe continue to remain on high alert at various Christmas events due to the threat of terrorism from radical Islamic extremists.

    Earlier this month, Dutch authorities arrested three men in the town of Zoetermeer who they allege were plotting a terrorist attack during the period around Christmas and New Year’s Eve and were searching for information on making car bombs and explosive vests.”

    “The cash-strapped United Nations has issued an unprecedented global appeal for funds, claiming Wednesday it needs an immediate injection of $29 billion of global taxpayer money as “climate change” and global conflicts pressure existing budgets.

    The world body’s Global Humanitarian Overview estimated some 168 million people worldwide will need emergency assistance in 2020, with demand a direct product of “more extreme weather events, notably drought and flooding, which trigger humanitarian emergencies,” U.N. emergency relief coordinator Mark Lowcock said.

    His plea for cash comes just two months after a series of cutbacks began at the U.N.’s New York headquarters, starting with the heating being turned down, the diplomats’ bar shuttering early at 5pm and meetings canceled along with diminished first class global travel budgets.

    As Breitbart News reported, the globalist organization is currently running a deficit of $230 million at the same time it has invited 25,000 delegates to fly into a two-week conference on climate in Madrid, Spain.

    Lowcock said the latest appeal for more money followed a continued rise in global conflicts that “are becoming more protracted and intense” which meant more money was needed by the U.N. if it was to play its part in global peace.

    “Combatants display total disregard for humanitarian law,” with the result that civilians caught up in conflict are increasingly likely to be displaced or traumatised psychologically, he said, adding the number of attacks on schools and health facilities continues to rise.

    In addition, climate change has unleashed more extreme weather events, notably drought and flooding, which trigger humanitarian emergencies, he claimed.

    “The brutal truth is that 2020 will be difficult for millions of people,” Lowcock said, echoing U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres and his recent announcement of renewed financial pressures:

    Of the 168 million people who are expected to require assistance next year, the $28.8 billion (26 billion euro) U.N. appeal is targeting the 109 million who are most in need and whom U.N. agencies are in a position to help.

    The U.N. is seeking more than $3 billion to address humanitarian crises in Yemen and Syria, the countries most in need, with Venezuela nominated as the country where needs have increased the most in the past year.

    The U.N. sought nearly $740 million for Venezuela for 2019, but as the country’s devastating economic and political crisis has intensified, that figure has risen to $1.35 billion.

    U.N. funding has been a vexed issue in the past few years, with U.S. President Donald Trump being particularly outspoken in his demands for the globalist organization to be more accountable for its spending.

    The United States is by far the U.N.’s biggest financial contributor, stumping up 22 percent of its operating budget and funding 28 percent of peacekeeping missions, which currently cost $8 billion annually. The UK and Germany are the next two major backers.

    Trump has cautioned the “future does not belong to globalists” in a warning to the organization’s leaders, adding, “the future belongs to patriots, the future belongs to sovereign and independent nations.”

    Responding to reports of deep U.N. budget deficits, Trump showed little sympathy for its inability to manage its own bloated budget, the bulk of which is provided by U.S. taxpayers:

    “So make all Member Countries pay, not just the United States!” he wrote when the news first broke:

    “The United States is the world’s largest giver in the world, by far, of foreign aid. But few give anything to us,” Trump said in September last year.

    “Moving forward, we are only going to give foreign aid to those who respect us and, frankly, are our friends. And we expect other countries to pay their fair share for the cost of their defense.”

    In December 2017 Nikki Haley, the then United States Ambassador to the organization, announced the federal government had reduced its contribution to the U.N.’s annual budget by $285 million, as Breitbart News reported.”

    But since the time it was put together in June, investigators’ aggressive drive against the networks has largely ground to a halt. Officials with knowledge of the investigations say that is because of pressure from government officials fearful of hurting Pakistan’s lucrative ties to Beijing.

    The biggest case against traffickers has fallen apart. In October, a court in Faisalabad acquitted 31 Chinese nationals charged in connection with trafficking. Several of the women who had initially been interviewed by police refused to testify because they were either threatened or bribed into silence, according to a court official and a police investigator familiar with the case. The two spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared retribution for speaking out.

    At the same time, the government has sought to curtail investigations, putting “immense pressure” on officials from the Federal Investigation Agency pursuing trafficking networks, said Saleem Iqbal, a Christian activist who has helped parents rescue several young girls from China and prevented others from being sent there.

    “Some (FIA officials) were even transferred,” Iqbal said in an interview. “When we talk to Pakistani rulers, they don’t pay any attention. “

    Asked about the complaints, Pakistan’s interior and foreign ministries refused to comment.

    Several senior officials familiar with the events said investigations into trafficking have slowed, the investigators are frustrated, and Pakistani media have been pushed to curb their reporting on trafficking. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared reprisals.

    “No one is doing anything to help these girls,” one of the officials said. “The whole racket is continuing, and it is growing. Why? Because they know they can get away with it. The authorities won’t follow through, everyone is being pressured to not investigate. Trafficking is increasing now.”

    He said he was speaking out “because I have to live with myself. Where is our humanity?”

    China’s Foreign Ministry said it was unaware of the list.

    “The two governments of China and Pakistan support the formation of happy families between their people on a voluntary basis in keeping with laws and regulations, while at the same time having zero tolerance for and resolutely fighting against any person engaging in illegal cross-border marriage behavior,” the ministry said in a statement faxed Monday to AP’s Beijing bureau.

    An AP investigation earlier this year revealed how Pakistan’s Christian minority has become a new target of brokers who pay impoverished parents to marry off their daughters, some of them teenagers, to Chinese husbands who return with them to their homeland. Many of the brides are then isolated and abused or forced into prostitution in China, often contacting home and pleading to be brought back. The AP spoke to police and court officials and more than a dozen brides — some of whom made it back to Pakistan, others who remained trapped in China — as well as remorseful parents, neighbors, relatives and human rights workers.

    Christians are targeted because they are one of the poorest communities in Muslim-majority Pakistan. The trafficking rings are made up of Chinese and Pakistani middlemen and include Christian ministers, mostly from small evangelical churches, who get bribes to urge their flock to sell their daughters. Investigators have also turned up at least one Muslim cleric running a marriage bureau from his madrassa, or religious school.

    Investigators put together the list of 629 women from Pakistan’s integrated border management system, which digitally records travel documents at the country’s airports. The information includes the brides’ national identity numbers, their Chinese husbands’ names and the dates of their marriages.

    All but a handful of the marriages took place in 2018 and up to April 2019. One of the senior officials said it was believed all 629 were sold to grooms by their families.

    It is not known how many more women and girls were trafficked since the list was put together. But the official said, “the lucrative trade continues.” He spoke to the AP in an interview conducted hundreds of kilometers from his place of work to protect his identity. “The Chinese and Pakistani brokers make between 4 million and 10 million rupees ($25,000 and $65,000) from the groom, but only about 200,000 rupees ($1,500), is given to the family,” he said.

    The official, with years of experience studying human trafficking in Pakistan, said many of the women who spoke to investigators told of forced fertility treatments, physical and sexual abuse and, in some cases, forced prostitution. Although no evidence has emerged, at least one investigation report contains allegations of organs being harvested from some of the women sent to China.

    In September, Pakistan’s investigation agency sent a report it labeled “fake Chinese marriages cases” to Prime Minister Imran Khan. The report, a copy of which was attained by the AP, provided details of cases registered against 52 Chinese nationals and 20 of their Pakistani associates in two cities in eastern Punjab province — Faisalabad, Lahore — as well as in the capital Islamabad. The Chinese suspects included the 31 later acquitted in court.

    The report said police discovered two illegal marriage bureaus in Lahore, including one operated from an Islamic center and madrassa — the first known report of poor Muslims also being targeted by brokers. The Muslim cleric involved fled police.

    After the acquittals, there are other cases before the courts involving arrested Pakistani and at least another 21 Chinese suspects, according to the report sent to the prime minister in September. But the Chinese defendants in the cases were all granted bail and left the country, say activists and a court official.

    Activists and human rights workers say Pakistan has sought to keep the trafficking of brides quiet so as not to jeopardize Pakistan’s increasingly close economic relationship with China.

    China has been a steadfast ally of Pakistan for decades, particularly in its testy relationship with India. China has provided Islamabad with military assistance, including pre-tested nuclear devices and nuclear-capable missiles.

    Today, Pakistan is receiving massive aid under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a global endeavor aimed at reconstituting the Silk Road and linking China to all corners of Asia. Under the $75 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, Beijing has promised Islamabad a sprawling package of infrastructure development, from road construction and power plants to agriculture.

    The demand for foreign brides in China is rooted in that country’s population, where there are roughly 34 million more men than women — a result of the one-child policy that ended in 2015 after 35 years, along with an overwhelming preference for boys that led to abortions of girl children and female infanticide.

    A report released this month by Human Rights Watch, documenting trafficking in brides from Myanmar to China, said the practice is spreading. It said Pakistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, North Korea and Vietnam have “all have become source countries for a brutal business.”

    “One of the things that is very striking about this issue is how fast the list is growing of countries that are known to be source countries in the bride trafficking business,” Heather Barr, the HRW report’s author, told AP.

    Omar Warriach, Amnesty International’s campaigns director for South Asia, said Pakistan “must not let its close relationship with China become a reason to turn a blind eye to human rights abuses against its own citizens” — either in abuses of women sold as brides or separation of Pakistani women from husbands from China’s Muslim Uighur population sent to “re-education camps” to turn them away from Islam.

    “It is horrifying that women are being treated this way without any concern being shown by the authorities in either country. And it’s shocking that it’s happening on this scale,” he said.”

    Amnesty International believes at least 208 people were killed in the protests and security force crackdown that began from Nov. 15.

    This is disquieting. There is no time right now to set it in a larger context of commentary on the House Intelligence Committee’s report, released on Tuesday. Partisan characterizations are what we’d expect: Democrats say they have overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing by the president; Republicans say the Democrats have got nothing – it’s all vapor, nothing from first-hand witnesses that confirms the Democrats’ allegations.

    We can deal with that later. The “bombshell” from the HPSCI report is its revelation that Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) subpoenaed phone records for Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) – the ranking member on the Intelligence Committee – and in the report presents records of 2019 phone calls by Nunes, White House attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, Giuliani’s Ukrainian contact Lev Parnas, attorney Victoria Toensing (who has worked with Parnas), and reporter John Solomon.

    MSNBC interviewed Schiff briefly on Tuesday evening about the phone records.

    “Denmark has announced that another Islamic State member will have their passport and citizenship revoked in what has become the third case in just over a week.

    The first case involved a 25-year-old Kurdish man who had joined Islamic State as a fighter and had attempted to come back to Denmark from Istanbul for over a year, Danish newspaper Berlingske reports. The 25-year-old had been given a prison sentence in his absence in absentia in Denmark for joining the terror group in 2016.

    The second case involved a 30-year-old woman who moved to the former Islamic State capital of Raqqa, where she married a Danish fighter named Rawand Taher and worked at a clinic in the city.

    The woman, who spent around four years in the Islamic State, later married an Afghan fighter after the death of Taher in a 2015 drone strike. She was then captured by Kurdish forces and currently resides in a Kurdish-run camp.

    The identity of the third individual to has so far not been revealed by Danish authorities.

    All three cases, which have been pursued by Foreign Minister for Immigration and Integration Mattias Tesfaye, have come in just over a week and take advantage of legislation passed in October that allows the government to strip the citizenship of dual nationals deemed a severe security risk to the country.

    Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen justified the policy in October stating: “These are people who have turned their backs on Denmark and fought with violence against our democracy and freedom. They pose a threat to our security. They are unwanted in Denmark.”

    Denmark has faced several radical Islamic threats in recent years, most recently a plot that involved a 33-year-old Muslim man in Copenhagen plotting to murder the Danish and Swedish royal families.”

One aspect of this approach is an oblique and rather elaborate one, and is worth examining.

    Two instances of it have been evident so far. One I have written about before: the planting of a narrative that the IG report “concludes” Joseph Mifsud was not a confidential informant for the FBI.

    The second has come up this week, with a Washington Post article claiming Attorney General William Barr disputes an IG finding that the FBI’s counterintelligence agents had a sound basis for opening the “investigation” dubbed Crossfire Hurricane.

    In each case, the dubious, implied premise is that the IG would provide professionally dispositive conclusions about the truth or validity of line-operational matters – as opposed to the nature of employee conduct.

The dress also resembled a blue dress that Hillary Clinton wore to a Kennedy Center Honors ceremony in Washington in 2009.

    Noah Feldman, the first impeachment ‘witness’ the Dems rolled out on Wednesday not only called for Trump’s impeachment shortly after Trump was sworn in, he actually argued in a NY Times op-ed titled, “Why Shariah?” that Islamic Sharia law is more humane than US law.

    Noah Feldman, a Harvard Law professor, bashed legal systems created by Western countries including the United States and argued Sharia law is more ‘just’ and ‘fair’ than the US Supreme Court.

    Mr. Feldman actually believes that a medieval system of laws that chops off the hands of thieves, stones ‘adulterous women,’ blames the woman when she is raped by a man, publicly hangs and tosses homosexuals off of buildings, is more “progressive” and “humane” than Western laws.

    “In fact, for most of its history, Islamic law offered the most liberal and humane legal principles available anywhere in the world. Today, when we invoke the harsh punishments prescribed by Shariah for a handful of offenses, we rarely acknowledge the high standards of proof necessary for their implementation,” Feldman argued.

    Feldman also claimed that the West “needs Shariah and Islam.”

    “It sometimes seems as if we need Shariah as Westerners have long needed Islam: as a canvas on which to project our ideas of the horrible, and as a foil to make us look good,” he added.

    For generations, Western students of the traditional Islamic constitution have assumed that the scholars could offer no meaningful check on the ruler. As one historian has recently put it, although Shariah functioned as a constitution, “the constitution was not enforceable,” because neither scholars nor subjects could “compel their ruler to observe the law in the exercise of government.” But almost no constitution anywhere in the world enables judges or nongovernmental actors to “compel” the obedience of an executive who controls the means of force. The Supreme Court of the United States has no army behind it. Institutions that lack the power of the sword must use more subtle means to constrain executives. Like the American constitutional balance of powers, the traditional Islamic balance was maintained by words and ideas, and not just by forcible compulsion.

    So today’s Muslims are not being completely fanciful when they act and speak as though Shariah can structure a constitutional state subject to the rule of law. One big reason that Islamist political parties do so well running on a Shariah platform is that their constituents recognize that Shariah once augured a balanced state in which legal rights were respected.

    Feldman was widely criticized for this New York Times piece which was an excerpt from his book, “The Fall and Rise of the Islamic State” for “promoting” Sharia law.

    This is who the Democrats trotted out as a legal scholar and Constitutional expert to sell the American public on impeaching President Trump. Let that sink in.

    Standford Law School professor Pamela Susan Karlan, one of three Democrat witnesses testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday as part of the ongoing impeachment inquiry, once asserted hyperbolically that President Donald Trump “has sexually assaulted more women than 99.99 percent of all of the people” who have illegally entered the United States.

    Karlan made the remark, among other rants that were critical of the president, speaking on a 2017 panel organized by the American Constitution Society featuring Bill Kristol, founder of the defunct Weekly Standard, and moderated by the Washington Post‘s Ruth Marcus.

    “Every day Trump says something outrageous and people go, ‘ah, at least it’s not as outrageous as the day-before thing,’ the professor began. “I remember this during the campaign, where he would say things, and you would think, ‘okay, that’s the end.’ When he mocked John McCain for having been shot down. When he made fun of the reporter with the disability. When the infamous tapes about grabbing women came out, and you kept thinking… Donald Trump has sexually assaulted more women than 99.99% of all of the people who have entered this country illegally.”

    “Last week, Iranian General Allahnoor Noorollahi announced that Tehran is ready for “the greatest war against the greatest enemy”, adding that the Islamic Republic’s missile systems are aimed at 21 American military bases in the Middle East.

    CNN has cited several US defence and administration officials as saying on Wednesday that “there has been consistent intelligence in the last several weeks” indicating a possible Iranian threat against US forces and interests in the Middle East.

    The sources referred to alleged movement of unspecified Iranian troops and weapons that Washington fears “could be put in place for a potential attack, if one is ordered by the Iranian regime.”

    They did not clarify whether a potential threat emanated from the Iranian government or the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

    The remarks come as Under Secretary of Defence for Policy John Rood said earlier in the day that there are indications that an Iranian “aggression” could take place in the future amid aggravating relations between Tehran and Washington. He declined to elaborate.

    Pentagon spokeswoman Rebecca Rebarich told CNN that the Department of Defence continues to “closely monitor the activities of the regime in Iran, its military and its proxies, and we are well postured to defend US forces and interests as needed”.

    The statement followed General Kenneth McKenzie, head of the US Central Command, suggesting that Iran would possibly “do something that is irresponsible” and that it may “lash out at their neighbors”.

    “It is not going to be productive for them in the long term to choose to act out in the military domain. That’s the message that we’re trying to convey,” he added.

    IRGC Threatening to Destroy US
    This came after Iranian General Allahnoor Noorollahi warned that his country’s missile systems are aimed at 21 American military bases in the Middle East and that the Islamic Republic can raise the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv to the ground. He also said that Iran is prepared to wage “the greatest war against the greatest enemy”.

    The warning was preceded by IRGC chief commander Hossein Salami issuing another warning to Iran’s ‘enemies’, pledging late last month that the Islamic Republic would defeat them “at any scale” if they continue their “hostile actions”.

    Earlier in November, Salami vowed that the IRGC would destroy the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia if they cross Tehran’s “red lines”, a statement that came after IRGC Navy Commander Ali Reza Tangsiri cautioned in October that “bitter fate” is in store for any country that encroaches on Iran’s sea border.

    IRGC Aerospace Force Chief Amirali Hajizadeh said in September that “everybody should know that all American bases and their aircraft carriers, at a distance of up to 2,000 kilometres around Iran, are within the range of our missiles.”…”

    Spanish bomb squad officers have carried out a controlled explosion after a practice hand grenade was thrown over the wall of a centre for unaccompanied foreign children in north-east Madrid.

    A police spokesperson said the grenade, which carried a small amount of explosive charge, was thrown over the wall of the reception centre on the morning of 4th December, but there were no reported injuries.

    “Specialist officers from the national police force attended and evacuated the children to a safe area. Bomb squad officers detonated the object, which was determined to be a practice grenade with little charge, which had been thrown into the centre’s grounds in a bag from outside,” they added.

    The centre is situated in the Hortaleza area, and recently made headlines after Santiago Abascal, local resident and leader of the Vox party, said the centre and its residents – many of whom are from north and sub-Saharan Africa – made many feel unsafe.

    “Every time I’m on the street – and there’s a centre for unaccompanied foreign minors there – I run into women who come and tell me that the police tell them not to wear their jewellery on the street; and mothers who are worried that their daughters are coming home late and are scared of being assaulted,” he said during a November election debate last month.

    Vox condemned the attack, but also slammed its opponents for trying to make political capital out of the event.

    “It’s disgraceful violence, which is never justified, should be used for political ends. We await the conclusions of the investigation by security forces,” the party said in a statement.”
