Transparency is a great strength for a currency and an economy. An open market inspires confidence and investment. Capital controls throw a blanket on confidence. The Chicoms will not inherit the earth. They cannot exist without such controls, theft of technology, and an uneven playing field.
On the U.S. dollar side of the equation, it is not gloom and doom mongering to recognize the mathematical reality of the debt, and the historical duration of a world-reserve currency. In fact, to not recognize real trends is to be willfully ignorant, and to refute what is real.
I take solace in the reality that there is a new rule book being written that throws some of the old rules out the window.
No previous reserve currency came from a country that ranks as perhaps the best invention of mankind. America will adapt and endure because her critical mass of freedom, both human and monetary, is too great to deny. Recognizing the frailty of her debt and currency is a sign of strength, not weakness. How else to deal with it?

Today’s figures show the number of people who were prosecuted or handed out-of-court punishments like community resolutions, cautions or penalty notices fell by 2% in the last year.
There were 1.58 million people formally dealt with by the criminal justice system between July 2018 to June 2019, Ministry of Justice (MoJ) data said.
Some 1.37 million defendants were prosecuted in that that time, with the number facing magistrates’ court continuing to fall since 2016, and by 2% in the latest period.
The number of criminals handed an immediate jail sentence (75,800) is also at its lowest since 2009, falling to 6.5% in a decade.
Suspects on bail fell by 10% since June last year.
But the average length of a prison sentence rose to 17.4 months, the highest in a decade, having steadily risen since June 2009 when it was 13.5 months, according to the figures.”

“France is the European member state most affected by radical Islamic terrorism according to a study that shows over half of the terror attacks in the EU occurred in the country.
The study, which was released by the Foundation for Political Innovation (Fondapol), examined radical Islamic terror attacks from 1979 to August 31st of 2019 and discovered that France had been the victim of 71 attacks during that period which resulted in 317 killed, newspaper Le Figaro reports.
Between the period of 1979 and 2012, the country saw just 29 attacks and 45 killed, but in the era of the Islamic State terror group, the attacks increased to 42 with 272 deaths in just six years.
Around 54.3 percent of the attacks in which the Islamic State took credit occurred in France, with soldiers and police officers being the most frequent targets for terrorists.
The French capital of Paris and its surrounding no-go suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis have seen the most attacks, along with other regions that have noted problems with Islamic radicalisation.
The study also examined the global effect of Islamist terrorism, noting that there were 33,769 Islamic terror attacks worldwide from 1979 to 2019, and 167,096 killed as a result. The vast majority of the attacks, 89.1 percent, took place in majority Muslim countries and almost 90 percent were carried out by Sunni Muslims, they found.
The Islamic State is, according to the data, the most deadly of all of the radical terror groups during the period, accounting for a total of around 50,000 deaths.
France has also seen many thwarted attacks in recent years, with five major attacks foiled in the first few months of this year alone.
In one particularly gruesome plot, two Islamist militants plotted to take kindergarten children hostage, luring in police and then kill both the police and the young children. The would-be perpetrators were arrested in Paris before they could launch the plot.
Further plots could be on the horizon in the coming years as France expects to see over 250 terrorists released from prisons by the year 2022.”

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The Mexican navy says two Italian crew members were wounded in an attack by armed assailants who boarded their ship in the Gulf of Mexico.
The pirate attack was apparently carried out by several armed men who approached the Italian-flagged ship Rema in two fishing boats.
The Mexican navy said Tuesday that one Italian suffered a blow to the head, and the other was shot. It did not comment on their condition.

SPECIAL REPORT-Elite police force spreads terror in the barrios of Venezuela

CARACAS, Nov 14 (Reuters) – Before daybreak on January 8, several dozen police officers swept through the streets of Barrio Kennedy, a hillside slum outside Venezuela’s capital.
Some of the officers came under fire from assailants, unprompted. They shot back, hitting five young men. The five were then taken to a hospital, where they died of their wounds.
That, at least, is the official account, detailed in a statement the next day by the elite unit that conducted the operation – the Special Action Force of the Venezuelan National Police.
The force’s version of events is contradicted by five eyewitness accounts gathered by Reuters. These people say the police killed one of the victims not in a street shootout, but in his home. The official story is also contradicted by video of that victim, reviewed by Reuters and reported here for the first time, that was obtained by investigators at Venezuela’s opposition-controlled National Assembly.
The 82-second clip shows the young man sitting shirtless and unarmed in a storage room inside his home, under police interrogation about a nearby car theft, begging officers to spare his life.
“Brother,” says Jose Arevalo, a 29-year-old shop worker who had been convicted of robbery earlier this decade but avoided legal trouble since. “Don’t kill me.”

“Clashes between Iraqi protesters and security forces in central Baghdad killed four people and wounded 62 on Thursday, Iraqi medical and security officials said.
According to the officials, the casualties occurred in the Khilani area near Tahrir Square, which has been witnessing protests for weeks. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
The protests have mostly been taking place in Baghdad and the predominantly Shiite southern provinces. At least 320 people have been killed and thousands have been wounded since the unrest began on Oct. 1, when angry protesters took to the streets in the tens of thousands.
Thursday’s clashes came a day after protesters said that an intensifying crackdown by authorities has been instilling fear and reducing turnout but said they would remain defiant. The protesters also called for people to return to the streets in large numbers later this week.
The protesters are outraged by what they say is widespread corruption, lack of job opportunities and poor basic services, including electricity cuts, despite the country’s vast oil wealth.
They have so far rejected government proposals for economic and constitutional reforms and are calling on the entire political leadership to resign, including the Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi.”

The comments by Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei show an increasing willingness among Iran’s hard-liners to use the country’s atomic program to pressure Western powers.
Nonproliferation experts are already concerned that steps Tehran has taken over the past months away from the accord narrow the estimated year it would need to build a nuclear bomb, if it chose to pursue one.
Yet Iran still allows United Nations inspectors to monitor its nuclear sites and hasn’t pushed its enrichment anywhere near weapons-grade levels of 90%.
Completely abandoning the deal as Kadkhodaei suggests could lead to an immediate confrontation. Israel, which has bombed Iraq and Syria in the past to stop their atomic programs, repeatedly has warned it won’t allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon.
“I think those who disrupted the game should be punished since they damaged other parties’ interests,” Kadkhodaei said in an interview with the AP in Tehran on Saturday.
Kadkhodaei serves on the 12-member Guardian Council, a panel of six clerics appointed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and six jurists nominated by Iran’s hard-line judiciary approved by its parliament. The Guardian Council approves all parliamentary and presidential candidates and must agree to all legislation passed by parliament before it becomes law.
That grants the body, which Kadkhodaei has served on intermittently since 2001, tremendous power in the political life of the Islamic Republic. It has also never allowed a woman to run for president and blocks candidates calling for dramatic changes to the Islamic Republic.
The Guardian Council in 2015 approved the nuclear deal, which saw Iran limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. Iranians celebrated in the streets of Tehran, hopeful the deal between their relatively moderate President Hassan Rouhani and then-President Barack Obama meant Iran might normalize relations with the West after decades of enmity…”

“International Criminal Court judges on Thursday approved a request from prosecutors to open an investigation into crimes committed against Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslim minority.
The court said that it has jurisdiction over crimes partially committed in Bangladesh, which is a member state of the court. Myanmar, which is not a member of the global court, has been accused of committing widespread abuses in a campaign against the Rohingya.
Myanmar’s military began a counterinsurgency campaign in August 2017 in response to an insurgent attack. More than 700,000 Rohingya fled to neighboring Bangladesh to escape what has been called an ethnic cleansing campaign involving mass rapes, killings and the torching of homes.
The court said in a statement that a panel of judges who studied Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda’s request to open an investigation concluded that there are grounds to believe widespread acts of violence were committed “that could qualify as the crimes against humanity of deportation across the Myanmar-Bangladesh border and persecution on grounds of ethnicity and/or religion against the Rohingya population.”
The decision came just days after Gambia, on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, filed a case at the International Court of Justice accusing Myanmar of genocide in its treatment of the Rohingya.
Both courts are based in The Hague. The International Criminal Court seeks to convict individuals responsible for crimes, while the International Court of Justice settles disputes between nations.”

“An American man suspected of being a member of the Islamic State group is being repatriated to the United States after spending three days in a no man’s land between Turkey and Greece, Turkey’s Interior Ministry said Thursday.
The United States agreed to take him in and will provide him with travel documents, the ministry said, adding that the repatriation was underway.
The move comes a day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
The man was stuck in the heavily militarized border zone after Turkey tried to expel him to Greece on Monday but Athens refused him entry. Turkish media have identified him as 39-year-old Mohammad Darwis B. and said he was an American citizen of Jordanian background.
The Ministry said Thursday the man had asked to be deported to a “third country” and chose Greece.
He had been spotted in the no man’s land for three straight days. Media reports said Turkish authorities allowed him to spend the night in a vehicle, where he was fed.
Turkey has engaged in a new push to deport foreign IS members who are held in Turkish prisons or in Syria, since it invaded parts of northeast Syria to drive away Syrian Kurdish fighters it considers to be terrorists from a border area.
Three foreign IS suspects — from the United States, Denmark and Germany — were deported on Monday.
The Interior Ministry said Thursday that procedures to expel seven German citizens and one British citizen to their home countries were continuing, without saying when they would deported. Earlier, a ministry spokesman had said seven Germans would be sent home on Thursday.
Turkey also plans to soon deport other alleged IS members, including two Irish and 11 French citizens.

The Yemen Archive says Thursday that the Saudi-led coalition fighting Iran-aligned Houthi rebels has been allegedly responsible for 72 attacks, while the Houthis were blamed for at least 52 attacks.
It attributed three attacks to al-Qaida militants and the remaining six to other or unknown sources.
Yemen’s conflict began with the 2014 takeover of northern and central Yemen by the Houthis, driving out the internationally recognized government from the capital, Sanaa. A Saudi-led coalition entered the war on the side of the government in March 2015.

“Berlin prosecutors say they are investigating whether a soldier with Turkish heritage made up a claim that he was assaulted by men who told him he didn’t have the right to wear a German uniform.
Prosecutors said Thursday they have found contradictions in the soldier’s claims that led them to believe he fabricated the story, and have now started an investigation of him.
In September, the private first class, whose name was withheld for privacy reasons, reported he was walking in the Neukoelln district when two men punched and kicked him from behind, saying “only Germans are permitted to wear the uniform.”
The soldier has dual Turkish and German citizenship and has a Turkish last name, which police said was displayed on his uniform.”

Death of the Daesh* Leader

He killed himself using a suicide vest after being attacked in his hideout and hunted down in a dead-end tunnel by US troops. They confirmed his identity by carrying out a DNA test, buried his remains at sea, and levelled his hideout.
His death was later confirmed by several countries, including Iraq and Turkey, as well as Daesh*-affiliated media, which subsequently proclaimed that the group had chosen a new leader, reportedly called Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi, also known as Abdullah Qardash. The alleged leader of the organisation was previously an officer in the Iraqi Armed Forces under late President Saddam Hussein.
US President Donald Trump stated that the country knows the identity of the new Daesh* leader, while the State Department said that they are “looking into” him, including his origin and role in the terrorist group.

“An 18-year-old young man had his ear partially or totally cut off by a youth gang who are said to have robbed him of everything except his underwear.
The incident took place late on Tuesday night at around 11 pm, in the central Gothenburg district of Landala and saw the teen attacked by a group of around ten people according to local investigators, newspaper Goteborgs Posten reports.
Local police officer Morten Gunneng described the incident as, “a nasty robbery from start to finish,” and described the injuries to the teen as, “a real cut in the ear, it is completely or partially cut off.” The mob also kicked and punched the victim.
The 18-year-old was also taken to the hospital by police, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.
“We have searched with a dog for the suspected offenders in the area,” Gunneng said and added, “The patrols have secured some tracks, but exactly what, I cannot say. They have also heard several witnesses, so there is more work to be done.”
The case highlights the growing problem with gang crime and insecurity in Sweden’s cities, a fact that was highlighted by local residents in Gothenburg in July of this year.
Imad El-Saneh, a local taxi driver, commented on the current state of the city saying, “It has become much worse than in the 90s. It’s more people, more drugs and people care less about what they do.”
The brutal robbery also comes just days after the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in the southern city of Malmo that occurred over the weekend.

A little over a week ago Husu took to twitter in order to garner sympathy for an ‘incident’ in which a passenger in his taxi had allegedly told him to “go back to Somalia”, prompting Hussein to kick the man out of his cab.
Later in a blog post, Mr Hussein claimed that the man had acted in a racist manner, asking him why he was in Finland and where he was from, reports Yleisradio Oy, the national public broadcasting service of Finland.
The taxi operator, Taksi Helsinki, concerned over the allegations, opened an investigation into the matter and found that Hussein’s claims did not match the GPS record logged in his taxi.
The investigation by the company also found that “no one was abandoned and no passenger was removed from a ride. The matter has been discussed with Husu and the matter has been dealt with in this respect.”
The fake hate hoax drew condemnation from the Council group chair, Eveliina Heinäluoma. “I am extremely disappointed in the actions of our council group member Husu. A person in a position of responsibility should act with the dignity required of the position. We will discuss the matter in our next council group meeting”, Heinäluoma wrote on twitter.
Speaking to Helsingin Sanomat, a Finnish newspaper, Husu seemingly defended his hoax, claiming that even though this incident was fake, it was representative of something he believed to be real in society.
“Here’s the whole point left out: taxi drivers with foreign backgrounds are being subjected to constant racist harassment,” Hussein said.
He later admitted that “I wrote a tweet on Sunday because I was angry.”
Earlier this year Husu came under fire for writing a racially charged rant on twitter, saying: “All Finns Party members and their voters/supporters are racist. Yes, I said it. Need proof? Look at their history and how they’ve been elected as the second-largest party in Finland.”
Yesterday it was revealed that Mr Hussein had failed to notify the Social Democrat Party of his prior convictions for fraud, being fined three times in the 2000s for misrepresenting his employment status to enrich himself at taxpayer expense to the tune of over €10,000.”

“The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled that European Union member states are not allowed to kick asylum seekers out of asylum homes even if they have been violent in the past.
The ruling comes after a case involving an Afghan migrant in Belgium who had been involved in a fight between other migrants in an asylum home and was kicked out of the home for 15 days, during which he lived on the streets of Brussels or with his friends, Kronen Zeitung reports.
The ECJ ruled that the decision to remove the Afghan, even if just temporarily, was a violation of EU law and that a 2013 regulation on refugees banned such penalities for offences, even if they were violent.
The court went on to say that basic needs for asylum seekers must be met, “permanently and without interruption,” and said it was not good enough that the asylum home gave the migrant a list of homeless shelters he could visit.
While the judges on the court banned the action of the asylum home, they said it was still permissible for EU member states to imprison migrants for offences or to move them to other asylum accommodations.
Belgium, like Germany, Sweden and other countries, has seen a large influx of migrants since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015, which led to criticism earlier this year by Belgian Senator Alain Destexhe who claimed that elites in the country did not forecast the consequences of allowing in so many migrants.
“A large part of the immigrant population is not integrated, neither economically (it depends strongly on the social system), nor culturally, which is even more serious: they live according to value systems that are sometimes incompatible with our laws, our history, and our traditions,” he said.
Crime in asylum homes is also common across Europe. In Germany, it was claimed in March that police in rural Boostedt were covering up the extent of crime in local asylum seeker housing in order to not “stir up prejudice.””

The chairman of the South Tees Conservative Association has been suspended from the party in an Islamophobia row.
Councillor Malcolm Griffiths, who represents Hutton on Redcar and Cleveland Council, has been suspended amid claimshe shared, commented on and liked Islamophobic content on his social media pages.
The posts in question came to light after a dossier which exposed 15 current and 10 former Tory councillors was forwarded to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The dossier reveals that Cllr Griffiths posted an article on Facebook in 2017 claiming German Muslims had campaigned to end the Oktoberfest beer festival, because it was “un-Islamic”.
Cllr Griffiths then liked a comment posted on the post which said: “They can go back to where they came from. Try going to a Muslim country and ask them to stop Muslim traditions because it offends incoming Christians. How outrageous is sharia behaviour.”
In another offensive post in 2017, Cllr Griffiths used a quote which suggested inbreeding is disproportionately high amongst the Muslim population.
Simon Clarke, the Conservative candidate for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, said: “While I cannot comment on an individual case while it is under investigation the Conservative Party takes all allegations of racism or Islamophobia extremely seriously.”
A Conservative party spokesperson said: “All those found to be party members have been suspended immediately, pending investigation.
“The swift action we take on not just anti-Muslim discrimination, but discrimination of any kind is testament to the seriousness with which we take such issues.
“The Conservative party will never stand by when it comes to prejudice and discrimination of any kind.
“That’s why we are already establishing the terms of an investigation to make sure that such instances are isolated and robust processes are in place to stamp them out as and when they occur.”
The dossier also detailed some social media posts attributed to former Conservative councillor for Grangefield, Stockton, Cllr Aidan Zhidane Cockerill.
It is understood that Mr Cockerill has not been a member of the Conservative Party since he resigned from Stockton Council in May 2011.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service has attempted to contact Mr Griffiths and Mr Cockerill.

NEW ZEALAND – Plan for ‘over the top’ Christchurch mosque shooting memorial on hold
Ambitious plans for a memorial to the way New Zealanders responded after the March 15 terror attack have been put on hold after “resistance” from the Christchurch community.
The New Zealand Federation of Islamic Associations (FIANZ) unveiled plans in June for an elaborate landscaped park, large ornamental water feature and conference centre for Christchurch to “capture the legacy of how New Zealanders all came together as one” after the shootings at two Christchurch mosques.
One Muslim community leader said he was glad the project had been put on hold, saying the memorial was “over the top” and “obscene” .
FIANZ president Mustafa Farouk said the proposal was rejected by Christchurch locals, who feared the idea was being imposed on them by the Wellington-based organisation.
“We are holding back a little bit to allow the city to heal and then for them to take leadership and we will support them. We want the people in the city to tell us how we can help,” he said.
Muslim Association of Canterbury secretary Feroz Ditta said they felt the FIANZ memorial plan “came out of the blue”.
“They were spending close to $15 million on a garden. There was no consultation. We weren’t consulted.
“What they were proposing was a bit over the top. It was just obscene.”
He said discussion about a memorial to the attack was only just beginning.
“A process needs to happen for us to make a decision, but that dialogue hasn’t started yet.
“We have been busy with the welfare of our community.”
Farouk said they still wanted to build a memorial in Christchurch that would focus on the New Zealand response, while a second memorial would honour the 51 victims of the attack.
“We are hoping that when the city heals a bit more we will come down and talk to the Christchurch City Council and Christchurch people and victim’s families and see what we can do.
“The way New Zealand responded to the attack was very special and we should commemorate that.”
He wanted the memorial to be a grand gesture.
“We don’t want to make a small memorial tucked away in a corner in Christchurch that no-one will notice.”
The architecture firm behind the concept plans, Apa Architects in Rotorua, estimated the project would cost between $10m and $15m to build. Landscape architects have estimated it could cost twice as much.
Farouk said the project could be partly funded by countries that lost people in the attack. They had approached embassies for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
“We were trying to strike while the iron was hot. We were trying to get engagement from potential funders when things were fresh in their minds,” he said.
“They were willing to do something and happy with the designs. They were willing to help.”

Germany: Refugee shelter to be built in Berlin graveyard
A refugee shelter that will be built in a Berlin graveyard has caused a stir among some locals.
Footage filmed at the graveyard in the central Berlin neighbourhood of Kreuzberg on Thursday shows the site of the future refugee accommodation.
Concept manager Evi Gulzow explained that at a community meeting held with the residents, “many people were ready to oppose it due to the fact that we will have refugees on a graveyard. Some of them didn’t dare to say that they oppose refugees in general I guess and said that they don’t want it on the space of a graveyard.”
Gulzow went on to say, however, that they were able to sell the idea by explaining that the planned accommodation was “a small concept rather than a huge refugee shelter with a space for 300 to 500 people, but rather a maximum of 150.”
A chief concern was the possible unearthing of graves, but Gulzow pointed out that the shelter would be built on a largely empty plot of land within the graveyard grounds.
“Those graves that we cannot get rid of and that need to stay we leave them here and build around it. Otherwise the concept would be rejected. The church is very interested in keeping this place intact and that we don’t disturb the dead,” she said.
She also added that as cremations become more popular, many plots of land within graveyards remain empty and “need to be used.”

A mixed martial arts pioneer who was seen on video taking down an anti-Trump protester who was apparently in the middle of a scuffle with flag-waving demonstrators was apparently the target of Antifa on Tuesday.
A Twitter account called Long Beach Antifa tweeted that Tara LaRosa was using Cash App and Square cash for charity for what they deemed her “white nationalist cause.” The group called on Square and Cash App to take action against LaRosa for using their apps.

Documents have been discovered that show cash transfers from a Ukrainian gas company to a slush fund operated by several major Democrats.
The slush fund is reportedly run by former Secretary of State John Kerry, John Kerry Jr., another Kerry family member and Hunter Biden, Michael Coudrey reported.
“Leaked documents from the Ukrainian General Prosecutor’s office indicate complex money transfers from foreign sources into the control of a ‘slush fund’ owned and operated by Devon Archer, John Kerry Senior, John Kerry Junior, Heinz Jr, and Hunter Biden,” he said.
“According to the Department of Financial Monitoring (Counter-intelligence) of Latvia, the following sums of money were obtained from Busima Holding Limited (Cyprus) which is open at AS PrivatBank in Latvia.
“This describes the money transfer of $14,655,982 and $366,015 EUR from “Wirelogic Technology AS”, and $1,964,375 from “Digitex Organization LLP”.
“Further, part of the sums described above were transferred to Alan Apter, Alexander Kwasniewski, Devon Archer and Hunter Biden.
“BURISMA HOLDINGS LIMITED, during a period from November 18th 2014 to November 16th 2015 transacted 45 money transfers through MORGAN STANLEY SMITH BARNEY LLC in the sum of $3.5M dollars.

Calgary police have arrested a man after the driver of a U-Haul truck sped through the city, ran red lights, drove into oncoming traffic and hit multiple vehicles early Thursday morning.
Police were called at about 4:30 a.m. after the driver of the truck hit a vehicle near the intersection of 52nd Street and Peigan Trail S.E., according to a Calgary Police Service news release.

A little over a week ago Husu took to twitter in order to garner sympathy for an ‘incident’ in which a passenger in his taxi had allegedly told him to “go back to Somalia”, prompting Hussein to kick the man out of his cab.
Later in a blog post, Mr Hussein claimed that the man had acted in a racist manner, asking him why he was in Finland and where he was from, reports Yleisradio Oy, the national public broadcasting service of Finland.

Is Iran Winning or Losing?

There’s an old Jewish joke where a young man walks up to his grandfather man and asks him how he’s doing.
The grandfather answers, “In a word, good.”
“And in two words?” the grandson presses.
“Not good,” his grandfather replies.
The events of the week call the joke to mind in relation to Iran and its war against Israel and the United States.
Sunday, a crowd of thousands gathered outside the US embassy building in Tehran and chanted, “Death to America, Death to Israel.” The Iranians sounded their customary death chants to mark the 40th anniversary of the seizure of the US embassy and the hostage crisis it precipitated.
Sunday’s demonstration was the opening shot in a week of hostile actions by Iran. On Monday and Tuesday, senior Iranian officials announced they are abandoning key limitations set on their nuclear activities by the nuclear deal they concluded with the Obama administration, the EU, Russia and France in 2015. Monday Iran announced it expanding its uranium enrichment at the Natanz nuclear installation with advanced IR-6 centrifuges, and that it is doubling the number of IR-6 centrifuges presently being used.
