We’re seeing civil wars everywhere. Most of Millenials suddenly want Socialism. But there is no counterpart to the DSA.

It is not ordained that Socialism will win any more then it was ordained that Hillary would win. Setting out in the middle of the United States I see a nation that is divided by not as divided as most people think. Yes the Socialist wing of the Democrats wants to force us into becoming a socialist nation. Most of the people don’t want that, some of the kids in Collage do by not all, the vast majority of the people don’t want socialism and have discovered that the Dem leaders want to force socialism down our throats. Yes there is a very nasty future ahead but if we fight we can ensure that the future generation will inherent the freedom we did.
We have to fight or we let the Marxists win, if we fight we can and will win but we have to fight. Freedom is never more then one generation from extinction, our generation forgot that and allowed the Marxist to gain so much power they think they can force us to accept the slave chains they want to put us into.
On FOX news, they spoke about the latest poll: 60% of Millenials want Socialism. Tucker Carlson had a segment on it yesterday.
When I took statistics in Collage the first thing the Professor taught us was how to make the poll show what the customer wanted shown. One way they do this in the US is to poll twice as many Dems as they to Repubs and independents. Also they poll people who have voted in a lot of past elections, Trump is winning by pulling in the people who haven’t been voting, they tend to be very anti socialism and will turn out in mass to stop a socialist winning the election.

SYDNEY (AP) — Around a quarter of the world’s pigs are expected to die from African swine fever as authorities grapple with a complex disease spreading rapidly in the globalization era, the World Organization for Animal Health’s president said Thursday.
A sharp reduction in the world’s pig population would lead to possible food shortages and high pork prices, and it might also cause shortfalls in the many products made from pigs, such as the blood-thinner heparin that’s used in people, said Dr. Mark Schipp, the organization’s president.
The disease’s spread in the past year to countries including China, which has half the world’s pigs, had inflamed a worldwide crisis, Schipp told reporters at a briefing in Sydney.

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong police fired tear gas to break up anti-government protests in the densely populated Kowloon district of Mong Kok on Thursday, as masked demonstrators gathered to join Halloween fancy-dress clubbers on the other side of the harbor.
Hundreds of protesters, many dressed all in black and wearing now-banned face masks, knelt in the key artery of Nathan Road and took cover behind umbrellas, angry at a violent police crackdown on unrest there two months ago.
Some shone lasers at police shouting “Hong Kong people resist” as others built barricades in the road with rubbish bins, plastic seats and other debris, a familiar tactic in five months of often violent unrest.
They blocked off intersections on Nathan Road targeted by activists last weekend, smashed lampposts and pried away bricks and other debris from the paths and shop fronts, hidden from view by others holding umbrellas.
“Having given repeated warnings to the protesters in vain, the police officers have deployed tear gas and will use minimum necessary force to disperse protesters,” police said in a statement.

“Police have found out evidence suggesting that Mohammad A., who is on trial for the murder of an 87-year-old in the German state of Thuringia, could have misled the German migration authorities about being from Afghanistan. This might have allowed him to stay in Europe even though his asylum application had been denied.
A police investigation into the killing of an 87-year-old pensioner from Jena in January 2019 has concluded that her alleged murderer’s claim about coming from Afghanistan, which made him safe from deportation, is extremely questionable. According to the bombshell allegations, the man could have migrated from Pakistan, in fact.
Mohammad A. entered Germany in the summer of 2011 without papers and claimed to be from Afghanistan, Focus magazine reports. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) rejected his asylum application as an “unaccompanied minor refugee”, but he was allowed to stay as deportations to the war-torn country were on hold. There are no such limitations for Pakistan, however.
The district court in Gera heard Jena Criminal Superintendent Jens Thiel’s testimony on the matter during the trial of Mohammad A., who is accused of brutally murdering his 87-year-old neighbour Ursula P. on 10 January 2019 and hiding her in a suitcase out of mercenary motives. Thiel even examined the defendant’s mobile phone that was locked when confiscated but later cracked by specialists of the Federal Criminal Police Office, and analysed the data on it for about a month.
Asked about “abnormalities”, the investigator reportedly pointed at several WhatsApp messages.
“The evidence was in Arabic and translated by two interpreters”, said the policeman, noting both agreed that Mohammad A. “does not come from Afghanistan but from Pakistan” as his dialect and full name, which was atypical for Afghanistan, raised doubts about his “legend”.
Thiel, who is a digital forensic scientist himself, also came across inconsistencies. The suspect, for example, stored about 50 Pakistani numbers in his telephone and Facebook contacts but no Afghani ones. He actively communicated with someone named “Hajji” from Pakistan, especially in January 2019, the time the elderly woman was murdered. Besides this, the person he marked as “Mama” on his contact list also lives in Pakistan.
The investigator also noted that the migrant’s statements in Bamf should be treated with caution because he registered himself there in 2011 under another name (“Auwel Nom Lakab”) and allegedly lied about his date of birth, saying it was 1 January 1 1995.
Apart from the indications about his misleading the German authorities, evidence against him related to the murder was discovered as well. For instance, he had a picture of the victim’s debit card and identity card as well as her account statement with a credit of about 10,000 euros that he sent to his Pakistani chat partner “Hajji”. The motives for the murder remain unclear.
Following the murder, Mohammad A. filled out forms on the internet, using the personal details of Ursula P. His browser history also included terms like “robber killer”, “death penalty in Germany”, and “duration of detention” apart from visiting sports betting providers, porn sites, and searching for prostitutes in Jena.”

“CIA-backed Afghan paramilitary groups operating with impunity are summarily executing civilians during botched night-time raids and are responsible for the disappearances of suspects, a rights group said Thursday.
The secretive militias, whose support from America’s Central Intelligence Agency continues a tradition stemming from the Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980s, have long hunted the Taliban and are seen as an important tool as the war against the insurgents intensifies.
But their rough tactics have long sparked controversy across Afghanistan.
In a report, Human Rights Watch (HRW) documented 14 cases from late 2017 to mid-2019 in which it said CIA-backed “strike groups” committed serious abuses during night raids, such as one in the southeastern province of Paktia in which a paramilitary unit killed 11 men, including eight who were home for the Eid holidays.
The CIA disputed the HRW report, saying many of the claims against Afghan special forces were “likely false or exaggerated.”
In several cases, the raids – usually in Taliban-controlled areas – were accompanied by air strikes that “indiscriminately or disproportionately” killed civilians, HRW said, and sometimes, troops detained men and didn’t tell families where they were being held.
According to data released this week by Nato, the US conducted 1,113 air and artillery strikes in September, a big increase on previous months that came as talks between the US and the Taliban collapsed.
Night raids – where special forces troops blast doors and rush a building under the cover of dark – are a popular tactic that combines surprise, overwhelming firepower and night-vision equipment to stun occupants.
“In ramping up operations against the Taliban, the CIA has enabled abusive Afghan forces to commit atrocities including extrajudicial executions and disappearances,” said Patricia Gossman, the report author and HRW’s associate Asia director.
“In case after case, these forces have simply shot people in their custody and consigned entire communities to the terror of abusive night raids and indiscriminate air strikes.”
Afghan authorities and US forces have increased the use of paramilitary groups to combat a resurgent Taliban that has been hammering Afghanistan’s beleaguered national security forces.
Ostensibly part of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) but often operating almost independent of Afghan authorities, paramilitary forces do not fall under normal command chains and so have less oversight.
Speaking to HRW, one diplomat referred to them as “death squads.”
CIA spokesman Timothy Barrett said the clandestine agency conducts its global operations in “accordance with law and under a robust system of oversight.”
He blamed the Taliban for sowing misinformation and noted that the insurgents do not operate under any similar rules.
“Unlike the Taliban, the United States is committed to the rule of law,” CIA officials added in a statement.
“We neither condone nor would knowingly participate in illegal activities, and we continually work with our foreign partners to promote adherence to the law.”
The NDS did not immediately comment.
Afghan militias have largely been recruited, trained, equipped, and overseen by the CIA, according to HRW. Ties date back to the 1980s, when the CIA was funnelling money and equipment to Afghan rebels and mujahideen fighting Soviet troops.
After a lull during the Taliban regime in the 1990s, the CIA re-established ties with warlords and militias fighting the insurgency following the September 11, 2001 attacks.”

Human Rights Watch is a powerful NGO, with a massive budget, close links to Western governments, and significant influence in international institutions. Its publications reflect the absence of professional standards, research methodologies, and military and legal expertise, as well as a deep-seated ideological bias against Israel.
Due to the organization’s failures, founder Robert Bernstein published an article in the New York Times (“Rights Watchdog, Lost in the Mideast,” October 19, 2009) strongly criticizing the organization for ignoring severe human rights violations in closed societies, for its anti-Israel bias, and for “issuing reports…that are helping those who wish to turn Israel into a pariah state.”
Bernstein expanded on these ideas in a lecture at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (November 2010), noting, “Human Rights Watch’s attacks on almost every issue [have] become more and more hostile [toward Israel].”

Sabrina De Sousa, a former CIA case officer, was detained Monday in Portugal and is awaiting extradition to Italy and four years in prison for the 2003 abduction of a suspected terrorist living in Milan.
The operation was part of the CIA’s “extraordinary rendition” program — and one De Sousa says she was not involved in
If extradited as planned, De Sousa, who no longer works for the agency, will be the first CIA officer and U.S. diplomat imprisoned over the controversial rendition program.
De Sousa, 61, was working in Milan as an undercover CIA officer in 2003 when U.S. and Italian intelligence agents abducted radical Egyptian cleric Osama Mustapha Hassan Nasr, also known as Abu Omar, and transported him to his native Egypt for interrogation.
Phone records obtained by Italian prosecutors corroborated De Sousa’s claim that she was some 130 miles away in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, chaperoning her son’s school ski trip, on the day Omar was abducted. Still, Italy brought “broad charges” against her for a plot she says she had no direct part in.
The abduction was part of the controversial program, implemented under President George W. Bush, and entailed taking terror suspects to countries where torture is allowed. Omar — who turned out to be a “nobody,” according to De Sousa — was held at an American military base in Germany before being flown to Cairo, Egypt, where he says he was tortured.
He was soon released from prison for lack of prosecutable evidence against him.
In 2009, De Sousa, along with 25 other Americans, was convicted in absentia on kidnapping and other charges related to the abduction. Several were since pardoned and not one has done time in prison. The Italians also convicted Omar in absentia of “criminal association for the purposes of international terrorism” and sentenced him to six years in prison.
De Sousa described herself as a “scapegoat” for a program authorized by officials at the highest levels of U.S. government.
The former agent, who spent the night in a women’s prison near Lisbon after a Portuguese court ordered police to extradite her, said she had hoped President Trump would intervene on her behalf.
De Sousa believes that one of the reasons Obama’s CIA didn’t intervene in her case was due to self preservation. They must have thought that “sacrificing the rank and file would divert attention from the leadership.”

Why did you decide to flee from Italy just a few months to go before your sentence is ended?
I have 13 months left in my probation. Every 6 months the court removes 45 days depending on “behavior”. After two years that has not yet happened. And the court will ultimately decide if I “reflected” on the “seriousness of my crimes”. There is no evidence against many of the charges against me. The prosecutor said “evidence circumstantial… but to pass a sentence (in Italy), the court doesn’t need the smoking gun!” Also I have a case before the European Court of Human rights in Strasborgh. With documents from the Italian government I was able to counter all the charges against me.
In these days, Italy is at the center of Barr and Durham’s investigations into the origins of Spygate. Do you think Italy may have played a role in setting up Russiagate? Do you think there may be a connection with your case?

“Nearly half, 47 per cent, of the French population no longer trust the country’s justice system or those who work within it, according to a survey.
The survey, conducted by polling firm Ifop, revealed that confidence in the judicial system had dropped 10 per cent from 63 per cent to 53 per cent. Trust for judges and other legal employees was split between the left and right-wing of the French political landscape, L’Express reports.
Those most distrusting of the judiciary tended to come from the right-wing of the political spectrum and those without advanced degrees, according to the study. The research found the opposite to be the case for Green and Socialist Party voters.
Around 62 per cent said that the courts worked badly, while only 63 per cent said that they thought French judges were honest, down 17 per cent. Seventy per cent rated the judges as competent, also down 17 percentage points.
Nearly half, or 45 per cent, of the respondents said that judges were independent of politics, and 51 per cent said they believed the judges were free of economic interests.
The survey comes after German prosecutor Ralph Knispel voiced similar concerns over the state of the justice system in neighbouring Germany in July.
According to Mr Knispel, the capital of Berlin was so overburdened that the system could not carry out proper litigation, with the city alone having over 8,500 arrest warrants yet to be carried out.
France has also seen a dramatic decline in trust for the media, with a poll released in January claiming that media confidence was at its lowest level since 1987 when the Kantar Sofres Institute began producing the polling data.
Much of the distrust of French institutions and the government has been the fuel of the Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vest) movement which began last November and has seen protests every Saturday since.”

Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency said another 14 people were wounded in the attack. It said the explosives were packed into a refrigerator truck.
Turkish-led forces captured Afrin from Syrian Kurdish fighters early last year. The area is controlled by Syrian fighters allied with Turkey, who have been accused by rights groups of seizing land and property . The area sees sporadic attacks and other violence.
Syria’s state-run SANA news agency also reported the attack, saying nine people were killed and 20 wounded. It said the blast ignited a nearby patrol station and caused damage to surrounding homes and shops.

Real Clear Investigation’s (RCI) Paul Sperry has revealed the name of the young man he believes is the Ukraine “whistleblower.” If true, and Sperry makes an extremely compelling case, I suppose he is no longer a whistleblower. A better description might be “person of interest.”
Apparently, all of Washington has known his name for quite some time. I first heard his name as one of three possibilities a couple of weeks ago. And last weekend, an OANN report revealed his identity. His name is Eric Ciaramella (pronounced char-a-MEL-ah). He is a 33-year-old CIA analyst who once worked for (drumroll please)…former CIA Director John Brennan.
Sperry wrote a detailed piece about Ciaramella which can be viewed here.
Excerpts from Sperry’s report:
* Ciaramella is a registered Democrat held over from the Obama White House, previously worked with former Vice President Joe Biden and former CIA Director John Brennan, a vocal critic of Trump who helped initiate the Russia “collusion” investigation of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.
* Ciaramella left his National Security Council posting in the White House’s West Wing in mid-2017 amid concerns about negative leaks to the media. He has since returned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
* “He was accused of working against Trump and leaking against Trump,” said a former NSC official.
* Earlier this year, Schiff recruited two of Ciaramella’s closest allies at the NSC — both whom were also Obama holdovers — to join his committee staff. He hired one, Sean Misko, in August — the same month the whistleblower complaint was filed.
* A CIA officer specializing in Russia and Ukraine, Ciaramella was detailed over to the National Security Council from the agency in the summer of 2015, working under Susan Rice, President Obama’s National Security adviser. He also worked closely with the former Vice President.
* Former White House officials said Ciaramella worked on Ukrainian policy issues for Biden in 2015 and 2016, when the vice president was President Obama’s “point man” for Ukraine. A Yale graduate, Ciaramella is said to speak Russian and Ukrainian, as well as Arabic. He had been assigned to the NSC by Brennan…He was held over into the Trump administration, and headed the Ukraine desk at the NSC, eventually transitioning into the West Wing, until June 2017.
* Federal records show that Biden’s office invited Ciaramella to an October 2016 state luncheon the vice president hosted for Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Other guests included Brennan, as well as then-FBI Director James Comey and then-National Intelligence Director James Clapper…Several U.S. officials told RCI that the invitation that was extended to Ciaramella, a relatively low-level GS-13 federal employee, was unusual and signaled he was politically connected inside the Obama White House.
* “He was moved over to the front office” to temporarily fill a vacancy, said a former White House official, where he “saw everything, read everything.”…The official added that it soon became clear among NSC staff that Ciaramella opposed the new Republican president’s foreign policies. “My recollection of Eric is that he was very smart and very passionate, particularly about Ukraine and Russia. That was his thing – Ukraine,” he said. “He didn’t exactly hide his passion with respect to what he thought was the right thing to do with Ukraine and Russia, and his views were at odds with the president’s policies.”
* Ciaramella worked with a Democratic National Committee operative who dug up dirt on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election, inviting her into the White House for meetings, former White House colleagues said. The operative, Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American who supported Hillary Clinton, led an effort to link the Republican campaign to the Russian government. “He knows her. He had her in the White House,” said one former co-worker, who requested anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.

According to the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC), the Chabad Jewish Centre’s rabbi said someone tried to enter his home last weekend and confessed to repeated trespassing as well as vandalism of the sukkah. This morning there was a “security incident” at the Yeshiva. During Shacharis [morning prayers]two unidentified men – clearly of foreign background – tried to enter the building representing themselves as Rogers repairmen. All the doors were locked in accordance with our procedures. They were forced to come to the front door and use the intercom/bell to gain entry. Rabbi Joshua responded to the call and asked for identification – also in accordance with our procedures. The two men were unable to produce I.D. and were sent away. We were able to confirm with Rogers that no servicemen were sent to the area and that there were no service outages in the general area of the Yeshiva.
The police have been informed.

Former national security adviser John Bolton will not appear voluntarily in front of Democratic-led House impeachment inquiries into President Trump’s interactions with Ukraine, according to The Hill.
Bolton attorney Chuck Cooper said in a Wednesday evening email that a subpoena would be required if he is to testify, after House invited him to appear earlier in the day.
A former US Ambassador to the United Nations during the Bush administration, Bolton was fired by President Trump in September after “disagreeing strongly” with many of his suggestions.

Why do that?
The Armenian genocide was carried out by Muslims against Christians. Any discussion of it is opposed by the Islamist regime of Erdogan, Turkey’s brutal boss, who had threatened Armenians with ethnic cleansing at a press conference in Europe.

Krikorian said his organization would request a meeting with the freshman Democrat to “clarify her views.”

Representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) has received a $1,500 campaign donation from a lobbying group with ties to Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The donation, first reported by the Daily Caller, was made on September 30 by the Turkish American Steering Committee (TASC), a non-profit group that has been active in lobbying efforts on behalf of the Turkish government.
Omar was also photographed at a TASC event with organization co-chairman Halil Mutlu, who is Erdogan’s cousin. Mutlu was present at a 2017 clash between Erdogan’s bodyguards and pro-Kurdish protesters in Washington, D.C. A video of the incident shows Mutlu leading a pro-Turkish government chant from the sidelines.
On Tuesday, Omar refused to back a House resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide, opting to vote “present.” The resolution passed overwhelmingly, 405–11.

Vindman responded to a subpoena not because he had something to add about the 25 July phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, but because he was willing to express a policy difference with Trump.*

“With overcrowded Greek migrant camps facing explosive new problems, a top EU legal adviser said Thursday that Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic broke European Union law by refusing to comply with a refugee quota program meant to address such challenges.
The legal opinion strikes to the core of Europe’s migrant crisis since 2015 — its struggle to create a unified migrant policy — a challenge that is resurfacing as Greece faces a new surge of migrant arrivals.
Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston recommended that the European Court of Justice — the EU’s highest court — should rule that the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland “have failed to fulfill their obligations under EU law” to take in refugees. Such legal opinions are not legally binding but are often followed by the court.
Meanwhile, Dunja Mijatovic, a commissioner for Human Rights at the Strasbourg, France-based Council of Europe, was appalled after a five-day visit to migrant camps on Greek islands.
“The situation of migrants, including asylum-seekers, in the Greek Aegean islands has dramatically worsened over the past 12 months,” said Mijatovic. “It is an explosive situation.”
She urged Athens to address the terrible living conditions in camps, notably on the islands of Lesbos, Samos and Corinth, where people wait in line for hours to get food or use bathrooms, “when these are available.”
“This no longer has anything to do with the reception of asylum-seekers,” she said. “This has become a struggle for survival.”
In an emergency move in 2015, EU nations agreed to relocate 160,000 refugees from Italy and Greece as those two countries buckled under the arrival of hundreds of thousands of migrants, most from war-torn Syria.
That decision was made in a vote requiring about a two-thirds majority. The Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland were among a small group of countries that voted against the move. Hungary and Slovakia, citing national security concerns, even challenged the vote in court but their case was rejected.
The failure of those nations to take part in a burden-sharing measure meant to help EU partners in distress was at the heart of one of the 28-nation bloc’s biggest crises. The issue of immigration then became a major vote winner for far-right parties.
Sharpston said if the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland had security or public order concerns about any of the migrants they should have rejected them on a case-by-case basis rather than ignore their entire relocation obligations. She found the EU plan contained enough safeguards to handle security concerns.
“Disregarding those obligations because, in a particular instance, they are unwelcome or unpopular is a dangerous first step toward the breakdown of the orderly and structured society governed by the rule of law,” she decided, according to a court statement. “The principle of solidarity necessarily sometimes implies accepting burden-sharing.”
Greece has recently begun to feel that burden more keenly. As part of its emergency response, the EU agreed in 2016 to pay Turkey up to 6 billion euros ($6.7 billion) to stop migrants leaving the country for Greece and to help Athens cope with Syrian refugee arrivals.
Yet, according to recent EU data, Greece is one of Europe’s busiest entry points with more than 47,500 migrant arrivals this year through Oct. 6, a 29% increase from 2018.
Mijatovic praised Greece’s plan to transfer 20,000 migrants from the islands to the mainland by the end of this year, insisting their relocation should be done urgently. Greece has received more than 2.2 billion euros ($2.4 billion) in EU assistance to help migrants.
“The Greek authorities must overcome all the bureaucratic obstacles that are hindering the effective use of these funds,” Mijatovic said.
She added that the EU must provide help in “relocating people from Greece to other member states, giving Greece breathing space to make structural improvements.”
Also Thursday, Greece’s parliament was set to approve tough new asylum procedures despite strong opposition from international human rights groups.
Lawmakers were holding a final day of debate on the measures, which include stricter detention policies for those entering the country and seeking asylum in the European Union.
As Greece struggles yet again to cope, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland appear unmoved even though the court is very likely to find them guilty of breaking EU laws.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party urged his government “to stand up to any pressure, no matter how it is legally or otherwise disguised, on the issue of the migrant quotas.”
Fidesz said people “don’t want one-time migrant quotas, permanent ones, those from 2015 or those currently being formed.” No new quota scheme has been announced, but the EU is urging member countries to help take in hundreds of refugees crossing the Mediterranean by boat.
Poland’s government argues that it refused to take part in the refugee plan because it was faulty and raised security concerns. Spokesman Piotr Muller said the government’s aim was to protect the interests of Polish citizens and defend against “uncontrolled migration.”
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said his government is studying the opinion and noted that it is not legally binding. He has previously described the quota scheme as “unacceptable and divisive.””

Tanin added the Kosovo authorities should investigate the police officers involved in the incident, establish accountability and ensure that such occurrences are not repeated in the future.
Earlier, a UN probe concluded that Kosovo’s police force used excessive force when arresting two UN Mission personnel earlier this year and has found no evidence to support claims that the pair engaged in any wrongdoing before being detained, according to Tanin.

“An informant, whose name or nationality was not released, helped U.S. forces to conduct a raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, reported the Washington Post, citing unnamed U.S.- and Middle East-based officials.
The ISIS defector reportedly provided U.S. intelligence operatives with information that was critical to the success of the raid and is expected to receive part of the “$25 million U.S. bounty that had been placed on Baghdadi’s head,” the officials said, according to the Post.
The newspaper said the informant turned against ISIS after the terrorist group killed one of his relatives. He is a Sunni Arab, according to one official.
The informant was recruited and cultivated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance consisting mostly of Kurds and led by Kurds, which fought as a U.S. ally against ISIS. The ISIS defector was later handed over to U.S. intelligence where he underwent careful scrutiny, the officials told the Post.

“Militants have shelled 14 settlements in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Idlib and Hama in the past 24 hours, Major General Yury Borenkov, chief of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the conflicting sides in Syria, said on Thursday.
“Sixteen shelling incidents were reported on October 30,” he said, adding that 14 settlements came under fire.
The Russian military official added that in the past 24 hours, representatives of the Russian reconciliation center have delivered 500 food sets to the residents of the Homs province, bringing the total weight of delivered humanitarian aid to 2.45 tonnes. Since the beginning of the settlement process in Syria, 2,234 humanitarian operations have been carried out, Borenkov said.
The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill the tasks assigned to them after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. They regularly travel around the country’s liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. “As Afghanistan’s conflict intensifies, casualties among the country’s security forces are continuing to increase, a troubling sign while American and Taliban negotiators look to revive talks toward a peace deal likely to include a withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country.
Casualties among Afghan security forces increased by 5 percent from June through August compared with the same period last year, according to the U.S. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction’s quarterly report, which was released Thursday.
Afghanistan’s military has struggled with high casualty rates for years. Last year, the Pentagon described casualties among Afghan security forces as “unsustainable.”
The government does not release the exact number, but in late 2018, President Ashraf Ghani said more than 28,000 members of the Afghan security forces had been killed since 2015.
The persistent high number of casualties comes as American and Taliban negotiators look to resuscitate peace talks that were upended by President Donald Trump in September. A key element of any peace deal is expected to be a withdrawal of U.S. forces, a move that would significantly increase pressure on Afghanistan’s military.
Earlier in October, the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan announced that it had already begun to reduce the number of personnel, bringing the total U.S. troops in the country to about 13,000. A spokesman for the command described the decrease as “an aggregate drop” and not part of a larger drawdown.
Over the past year, the push for peace has brought with it a spike in violence in Afghanistan as both the U.S.-backed government and the Taliban have looked to gain negotiating leverage through battlefield gains.
Those operations were also detailed in the watchdog report. The number of ground operations conducted by Afghan special operations forces is up. Those forces conducted 2,531 ground operations from January to September, outpacing the number of operations carried out in 2018. And airstrikes have intensified: U.S. aircraft dropped more munitions on Afghanistan in September than in any other month since October 2010.
The Afghan military also experienced an increase in casualties from “insider” attacks. From June through August this year, attacks on Afghan security forces carried out by their comrades resulted in 87 casualties. This year, 49 “insider” attacks have resulted in 167 casualties.
The United States has spent more than $70 billion training and equipping the Afghan military over the course of the 18-year war, according to the government watchdog.”
