Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Whole Foods CEO Says Plant-Based Fake Meat Is Bad For Your Health (But Good For Environment)

The media may have fallen in love with plant-based fake meat like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods (who produce the Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger, respectively), but one high-profile super vegan doesn’t think the “meat” is good for anyone’s health.

John Mackey, co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods, recently told CNBC that while the plant-based meat is better for the environment, and is more ethical than eating animals, it is made from processed ingredients that aren’t healthier than actual meat.

“The [brands] who are capturing the imagination of people — and I’m not going to name these brands because I’m afraid I will be associated with the critique of it,” Mackey, who has been a vegan for more than 20 years, told the outlet, “but some of these that are extremely popular now that are taking the world by storm, if you look at the ingredients, they are super, highly processed foods.”

“I don’t think eating highly processed foods is healthy. I think people thrive on eating whole foods,” he added. “As for health, I will not endorse that, and that is about as big of criticism that I will do in public.”

  2. Germany: Nurse didn’t want sex in the subway, so the Afghans kicked her in the face+++
Last Tuesday, around 06:10 a.m., a 20-year-old Afghan with two companions, of whom only one is known by name, got off the subway at the station “Theresienstraße” in Munich. There, the 20-year-old suddenly stepped with his right foot towards the upper body of a passenger. The passenger was hit slightly, but went on and went up the escalator. The 20-year-old tried to follow him, but was held back with both hands by one of his companions. The victim’s personal details and possible injuries are not known. The Afghan then activated the emergency stop on the escalator, went to the emergency call point and pressed the emergency button. When an employee of the subway control center answered via the phone, the 20-year-old said that he was looking for a woman for sexual activities. Shortly thereafter, a 32-year-old Munich woman, who was a nurse from a night shift, came down the escalator to the platform and walked past the 20-year-old and his two companions, and sat down on a bench a few metres away. The companion of the 20-year-old, unknown by name, sat to the left of the 32-year-old and told her that he was in dire need of a woman. He touched the 32-year-old on her thigh. The 32-year-old stood up immediately after touching her and said that she would call the police. From the left side, the 20-year-old walked towards the woman and suddenly kicked her with his right foot against the left side of her face. The 20-year-old was then held by a companion and pulled a few metres to the side, preventing the 20-year-old from hitting the 32-year-old any further. When the 32-year-old took her mobile phone out of her pocket to call the police, the group fled. Fortunately, despite the massive kick, the 32-year-old was only slightly injured and did not require on-site medical attention. The three persons were spotted by members of the subway guard when they started a loud quarrel with another passer-by. The entire group fled.
However, the 20 year old could be detained by the subway guard and handed over to the police officers. The 20-year-old was extremely aggressive towards the police officers. He verbally insulted two officers and spat at an officer. The investigating judge issued a warrant for the 20-year-old’s arrest. He is being investigated not only for dangerous bodily harm but also for assaulting and insulting police officers.Persons who can provide relevant information about the incident, in particular the unknown man who was kicked by the 20-year-old at the underground station “Theresienstraße” and then went up the escalator, are requested to contact the Munich Police Headquarters, Police Department 24, by calling 089/2910-0, or any other police station.

  5. An illegal immigrant mother whose nursing claims were disputed by a medical examination has been slapped with multiple felony charges for using another person’s social security number.

Maria Domingo-Garcia was federally indicted on Tuesday for knowingly using another individual’s social security number, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The ruling, handed down in the Northern Division of the Southern District of Mississippi, will result in her being placed in the custody of U.S. Marshals as she awaits federal trial.

News of the indictments come after Domingo-Garcia made national headlines for claiming she was a nursing mother unable to breastfeed her baby because Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed her in detention.

The issue dates back to August 7, when ICE agents apprehended 680 illegal immigrants working in food processing plants across Mississippi — the largest ICE raid in U.S. history. Domingo-Garcia was among the hundreds of illegal aliens apprehended that day.

Former NAACP Assistant Director Michael Meyers said Wednesday that the 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls who embraced reparations were “pandering to black voters.”

  8. Anti-White Privilege
The only socially acceptable racism today is racism against whites.
    August 23, 2019
    Bosch Fawstin

Leftists keep saying, like a mantra, that “White Men Are Terrorists”. All white men? What about non-white men and women? This need to make evil things like terrorism appear to be somehow worse, by being “white”, is pathological, and racist, and characteristically leftist. And it also blows up in the faces of these leftist racists when, if we’re going to actually classify terrorism based on “race”, there is NO terrorism like “brown terrorism”, “brown” being the word that racist leftists use when they speak of other human beings, as all they see is color. And that’s why we keep hearing about “white terrorism”, because “brown terrorism” is so prevalent in the world. You can always tell what leftists are hiding and covering up by what they openly say.

If you criticize Islam and jihad, you get death threats and you’re smeared as a “racist Islamophobe”. If you rabidly criticize “white nationalist terrorism”, and talk it up as a “Major Threat”, you get a pat on the back from leftists. So it’s not surprising how many criticize “white nationalism”, and how few criticize Islam and jihad.

The left’s need to make terrorism outside of Islam appear to be far greater than it is, is in exact proportion to how great a threat Islamic terrorism is. It gets to the embarrassing point where leftists, after being presented with massive lists of Islamic terrorist attacks and Islamic terrorist groups, invoke an individual terrorist, Timothy McVeigh, as if he represents a vast terrorist group.

  9. Cory Booker Belongs in Jail Over Newark’s Water Crisis
A normal person wouldn’t be running for president, he’d be in prison.
    August 23, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

Don’t drink the water in Newark.

The only thing worse than the crime and corruption in the New Jersey city that gave the nation Cory Booker is its drinking water. First, they found lead in the water in schools and then in people’s homes.

In some homes the lead content in the water is four times higher than the federal limit.

And Cory Booker, the Senator from New Jersey, running to run the country, is blaming racism.

“Newark’s water emergency demands our federal government’s immediate attention. Everyone deserves clean, safe water – it’s shameful that our national crisis of lead-contaminated water disproportionately hits poor black and brown communities like my own,” Booker tweeted.

Did a “national crisis” cause Newark’s clean water crisis?

  10. Drag Queen Story Hour Branches Out
Groundbreaking program expands its outreach in tolerance, diversity and vicious misogyny.

    Danusha V. Goska

A hundred community members crowded my local library’s public meeting space. Thirty or so toddlers nestled in the laps of their moms and dads in the rows of folding chairs. Teachers and administrators from local schools sat front row center.

A man in tattered clothing and a ragged cap appeared on a makeshift stage. He gave his name as “Jim Crow.” His white face was covered with black paint. A large circle of white paint surrounded his mouth, making his lips look twice their size. “Jim” arched his back so that his buttocks protruded; in fact, his buttocks appeared to be padded with pillows worn under his colorfully patched and threadbare trousers. He waved his hands about wildly – “jazz hands.” The children in the audience laughed with delight at Jim’s screwball antics. Moms and dads smiled indulgently. School administrators took notes on their cell phones. I could just tell that some were already planning to book Jim for their next school assembly. Heather Truwright, our librarian and hostess, wore a triumphant grin.

Next. Mr. Bones and Mr. Interlocutor entered. Whereas Jim wore the rags of a plantation slave, Bones and Interlocutor wore exaggerated suits, with wildly colored, outsized, and clashing vests, jackets, hats, and gloves. They were clearly costumed as the flashy nouveau riche, too gauche and ignorant to know how to dress properly. Like Jim, their faces were covered with black paint, except for the exaggerated lips. In their case, they used red to emphasize their lip size.

  12. Terror Umbrella Calls Florida Intl University Official ‘Our Very Own’
Saif Ishoof involved with Islamist pseudo-political advocacy group and anti-Israel activism.
    August 23, 2019
    Joe Kaufman

Florida International University (FIU) Vice President of Engagement Saif Ishoof likes to present a happy face to the community. Photo after photo on his twitter account shows a smiling Ishoof ‘rubbing shoulders’ with South Florida’s ‘movers and shakers.’ Yet, there is a sinister side of Ishoof that many know nothing about. Recently, a terror umbrella group for South Florida’s many radical Muslim organizations made a post onto social media referring to Ishoof as “our very own.” Given his contact with local leaders, including businessmen and politicians, and FIU’s students, this evil association is extremely alarming and jeopardizes community safety.

The South Florida Muslim Federation (SFMF) is an umbrella group for South Florida’s radical Muslim institutions. Last month, SFMF announced that it would be conducting town hall meetings led by a cast of extremist imams, including Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF) Imam Hasan Sabri, who has referred to the United States as the “enemy” and Masjid Jamaat Al-Mu’mineen (MJAM) Imam Izhar Khan, who was charged by the FBI with helping to finance the Taliban. Recently SFMF cut ties with its Facebook manager, Abdur Rahman al-Ghani, after it was exposed that al-Ghani made posts on social media calling Jews “demonic” and gays “evil.”

This past May, SFMF posted onto its group Facebook page a copy of a page from the Miami Today newspaper, featuring a story about FIU’s Saif Ishoof. Alluding to the image of the newspaper page, SFMF described Ishoof in its post as “our very own Saif Ishoof.”

  13. North Korea Marches Ahead with Advanced Nuclear Weapons Program
    Will Trump administration blink first?
    August 23, 2019
    Joseph Klein

Evidently, the punishing sanctions imposed on North Korea, as well as President Trump’s personal relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, are not slowing down North Korea’s continuing march to becoming a full-scale nuclear-armed state. Not only has North Korea continued to test launch ballistic missiles, albeit with a short-range reach. According to a report of a new upcoming Japanese white paper, North Korea has managed to miniaturize nuclear warheads that are small enough to fit on ballistic missiles. Japan’s defense officials have described North Korea’s apparent success as a “serious and imminent threat.” The United States and South Korea have sounded similar alarms. Indeed, a confidential U.S. intelligence report back in 2017, which was leaked and reviewed by The Washington Post, said that the intelligence community “assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles.”

Tensions have been rising since President Trump’s last meeting with Kim in June. “We haven’t gotten back to the table as quickly as we would have hoped, but we’ve been pretty clear all along, we know there’ll be bumps along the way,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday. He expressed displeasure with the North Korean regime’s launching of short-range missiles, which threaten U.S. allies in the region and violates UN Security Council resolutions. “I wish that they would not,” he said. Referring to UN sanctions targeting key North Korean imports and exports, Secretary Pompeo added, “These are a global sanctions regime, and we hope Chairman Kim will come to the table and get a better outcome. It’ll be better for the North Korean people, it’ll be better for the world.”

“Epstein traveled to Cuba at Castro’s invitation, former Colombian president says…Amid journalistic revelations about horrifying and reprehensible sex scandals of financier Jeffrey Epstein, a trip of mine on his plane to Nassau, Bahamas has appeared, to transfer to the final destination of Havana, Cuba, invited by President Fidel Castro [on March 2003],” (Former Colombian Pres. Andres’ Pastrana as recently quoted in the Miami Herald.)

“In Cuba, the link between tourism and prostitution is perhaps more direct than in any other country that hosts sex tourists.” (The ECPAT Network – End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism – in a study titled “Child Prostitution and Sex Tourism in Cuba.”)

“Since she [a Cuban woman or girl] is usually desperate, he [a sex tourist] can usually secure sexual access to her very cheaply. Sex tourists state that it costs them less to spend two weeks indulging themselves in Cuba than it does in other centers of sex tourism such as Thailand. Girls aged 14-15 are even more desperate for dollars and therefore more vulnerable.” (Dr. Julia O’Connell Davidson of Britain’s Univ. of Nottingham in her study titled “The Rights and Wrongs of Prostitution.”)

“My job was to bug their hotel rooms. Famous Americans are the priority objectives of Castro’s intelligence. When the celebrity visitors arrived at the Hotels Nacional, Meliá Habana and Meliá Cohiba, we already had their rooms completely bugged with sophisticated taping equipment. But not just the rooms, we’d also follow the visitors around, sometimes we covered them 24 hours a day. They had no idea we were tailing them.” (High-ranking Cuban intelligence defector Delfin Fernandez.)

First there was an extensive financial relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and a New York Times board member.

A New York Times board member has issued a public apology for his ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

to, who is the director of MIT’s prestigious Media Lab, invited Epstein there and visited several of his homes after meeting “through a trusted business friend” at a 2013 conference, Ito said.

“In all of my interactions with Epstein, I was never involved in, never heard him talk about, and never saw any evidence of the horrific acts that he was accused of,” wrote, Ito, who has been a New York Times board member since 2012.

Ito admitted having knowledge of the MIT gifts and said Epstein invested in his tech startups.

  17. The Latest: Cleric issues edict forbidding US troops in Iraq (abcnews, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-iraq-pm-warns-israel-strong-response-65143323

“A leading Shiite Muslim cleric followed by some Iraqi militants has issued a public religious edict forbidding the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq.

The fatwa issued Friday by Iran-based Grand Ayatollah Kazim al-Haeri comes after Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq accused the United States of being behind recent attacks on their bases and weapons depots in Iraq. Two U.S. officials have confirmed that Israel was responsible for the bombing of an Iranian-backed militia’s weapons depot on July 19.

There are around 5,000 American troops in Iraq who are there at the invitation of the government to assist and advise in the fight against the Islamic State group. Calls for their withdrawal increased after the group was defeated in 2017.

Al-Haeri called for Iraqi armed forces to “resist and confront the enemy.””

  18. Five Indicted After French Police Bust Shisha Bar Illegal Drug Network (breitbart, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/08/23/five-indicted-after-french-police-bust-shisha-bar-illegal-drug-network/

“Five men have been indicted after French police in the city of Angers made a record seizure of cannabis in the city from a drugs network operating out of local shisha bars.

The arrests of the five men occurred in December of last year but they were only brought before a judge and indicted this week for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking, Ouest France reports.

Police discovered a record 2.5 tonnes of illegal cannabis in December, packed into around 80 suitcases and kept in the trailer of a rented truck.

Prior to the discovery, police investigators had been tracking Kamel Yousfi, believed to be the ringleader behind the drug network, for several months.

Investigators were able to intercept phone traffic from Yousfi which revealed constant trips to various French cities including Brest, Paris and La Rochelle as well as trips overseas to Morocco and Spain.

All five of those indicted int he case were connected to various shisha bars across the city of Angers, with Yousfi being the proprietor of his own bar.

While the suspected leader of the network has largely remained silent about his involvement, one of the other suspects claimed that he thought the suitcases full of cannabis stored in the rental van were actually scented tobacco.

Shisha bars have been linked to other gang-related activity in several other countries in Europe including in the Netherlands where gang members left the decapitated head of one of their rivals on a street in Amsterdam with the victim’s eyes pointing to a shisha bar linked to North African gangs.

Only two years prior to the shocking incident, another person had been shot in the vicinity of the same shisha bar.

A shisha bar in the Swedish multicultural city of Malmö was also the scene for a particularly brutal gang rape attack in 2016 by two so-called “stateless refugees.””

  19. Question to Cummings: Where did the Billions in Missing Federal Money Go?
Why Trump was right to ask.
    August 22, 2019
    Matthew Vadum

President Trump went after purported congressional watchdog Elijah Cummings recently, slamming the Democrat congressman for failing to improve his troubled Baltimore, Maryland, district despite the inflow of billions of dollars in federal aid during and in the years leading up to Trump’s administration.

Cummings came to the attention of conservatives as he zealously defended the IRS throughout the Lois Lerner saga. Lerner is the corrupt IRS tax-exempt division executive who engineered the tax agency’s targeting of conservative nonprofits during the Obama administration. Cummings also apparently conspired with Lerner to sabotage True the Vote, a leading grassroots electoral integrity group. In 2012, Cummings falsely claimed the group would “do almost anything to stop people from voting.”

“Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United States on Crime and the Economy. Billions of dollars have been pumped in over the years, but to no avail[,]” the president wrote on Twitter July 29. “The money was stolen or wasted. Ask Elijah Cummings where it went. He should investigate himself with his Oversight Committee!”

“Baltimore, under the leadership of Elijah Cummings, has the worst Crime Statistics in the Nation. 25 years of all talk, no action! So tired of listening to the same old Bull…Next, Reverend Al will show up to complain & protest. Nothing will get done for the people in need. Sad!” Trump tweeted.

  20. Return of the Migrant Crisis: Greece Cracking as Illegal Sea Crossings Triple (breitbart, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/08/23/return-migrant-crisis-greece-cracking-illegal-sea-crossings-triple/

“The number of illegal migrants landing in Greece, numbered in the hundreds of thousands at the height of the migrant crisis, is surging upwards once more.

While the massive inflow of illegal migrants to the impoverished European Union member-state, hundreds of thousands strong, was slowed — if never entirely stopped — by a multi-billion-euro deal between the EU and Turkey, tens of thousands have remained on its Aegean islands, destroying local tourism and burdening the already struggling country at large.

Now, however, with Greece’s aggressive neighbour having suspended both a bilateral agreement and an EU-level agreement on migrant readmissions, it appears that the floodgates are being gradually reopened, with The Times reporting that migrant landings have tripled in recent weeks.

The surge in migration, which had shifted first to Italy and then, after anti-mass migration populist Matteo Salvini’s elevation to the Italian government to Spain in the years after the Greek route was brought under a semblance of control, appears to be causing the already overburdened Greek islands, in particular, to crack. Migrants have spread in around fifty camps spread across the islands, the Greek mainland, and the country’s northern borders and are looking set to swell to 100,000 people.

Where once illegal arrivals were averaging 60 a day, now they average 278, with almost 22,000 thought to have crossed the sea so far this year, according to The Times — and more are penetrating the country via the land border with East Thrace, Turkey’s last foothold in Europe after long centuries of Ottoman conquest and reconquest.

The Greek government has long accused Turkey of relaxing its borders so migrants can surge into Europe as a tool of punishment and manipulation in wider geopolitical battles over EU membership and the control of resources around contested islands and northern Cyprus, which it has illegally occupied since the 1970s.

“[T]he Turkish president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] controls the flows toward Greece and, by extension, to the European Union,” complained an offiical at the Greek Citizens’ Protection Ministry in April 2018.”

  21. THE LEFT IS INSANE… NBC NEWS Report: “Heterosexuality Is Just Not Working”

A new report on NBC News by radical feminist Marcie Bianco argues that “heterosexuality is just not working.”

And NBC News is promoting this like it is some thoughtful revelation.

    Bretitbart.com reported:

Women are increasingly opting out of heterosexuality because it is “the bedrock of their global oppression,” NBC News asserted in a bizarre opinion piece this week.

“Men need heterosexuality to maintain their societal dominance over women,” writes Marcie Bianco for the NBC News website. “Women, on the other hand, are increasingly realizing not only that they don’t need heterosexuality, but that it also is often the bedrock of their global oppression.”

Ms. Bianco lumps together a series of recent news stories, “from Jeffrey Epstein to the Dayton and El Paso mass shooters, to Miley Cyrus’s separation and Julianne Hough’s declaration that she’s ‘not straight,’” which, she says, “together have laid bare the strictures of an American patriarchy on the edge of a nervous breakdown.”

    This isn’t thoughtful discourse.
This is insanity and NBC News is promoting it like it is something brilliant and deep which it is not.

  22. Tehran Proposes Helping Baghdad Build Cross-Country Oil Pipeline to Link Iran to Syria – Report (sputniknews, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201908231076622787-tehran-proposes-helping-baghdad-build-cross-country-pipeline-to-link-iran-to-syria—report/

“According to local media, the pipeline would allow Iran to supply Syria and Lebanon with oil and gas, helping to relieve the latter’s electricity shortage.

Tehran has offered to help Iraq resume the operation of a major oil pipeline linking the country with the Syrian port city of Biniyas on the Mediterranean Sea, al-Sumaria television channel has reported, citing a source said to be familiar with the proposal.

According to the source, the cross-Iraq pipeline would enable Iran “to circumvent US sanctions and avoid using the Hormuz Strait amid growing concerns about its closure in the event of direct military clashes between the United States and its allies against Iran.”

The proposal is said to have been extensively discussed in previous years, with negotiations frozen after 2014, when Daesh (Islamic State)* seized wide swathes of western Iraq and eastern Syria.

According to the source, two options for the pipeline are on the table – a new 1,000 km pipeline running through Iraq into Syria, or repairs by the Iranian side to the Kirkuk-Baniyas pipeline, an 800 km pipeline first commissioned in the early 1950s stretching from the northern Iraqi city to Syria, but whose operation was stopped in 1982 during the Iran-Iraq War, and which was severely damaged by airstrikes during the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

It’s estimated that the overall capacity of that pipeline would be about 1.25 million barrels of oil per day, which could theoretically account for nearly half of the country’s pre-sanctions crude oil exports.

Baghdad has yet to respond to Iran’s proposal, the source said, noting that Iraq can export its own crude oil to Baniyas and on to neighbouring Mediterranean countries, and as a major energy power itself, may not consider the project to be economically advantageous.

An unnamed lawmaker from the oil and gas committee in Iraq’s parliament confirmed that the project was being discussed, and said it envisions the delivery of both oil and gas to Syria and Lebanon.

Iraqi economist Assad al-Adli told The New Arab newspaper that if it was approved, a project of this scale would take at least two years to complete. The economist stressed such a project would be a “historic achievement” for Iran if completed, since it would provide the country with “direct access to the Mediterranean countries,” while creating “a new competitive port” in Syria.

Iraq, meanwhile, might only stand to gain a competitor, and may be pressured by the US to prevent the project from being realised, al-Adli noted.

On Thursday night Tucker Carlson opened his show on how the professional left has transformed the city of San Francisco, one of America’s most beautiful cities, into a “cesspool of filth, homelessness and drug addiction.” In response to this crisis the city of San Francisco is banning words that suggests the city has a crime problem, “I people are not allowed to talk about crime maybe they won’t notice crime exists. 25. FOIA Uncovers Taxpayer-Funded Islamic Propaganda Forced on Teachers, ‘Islam Glorified, Christianity Disparaged and America Bashed’
Cristina Laila by Cristina Laila Augus

The Thomas More Law Center, a national nonprofit public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, uncovered a massive Islamic propaganda campaign which is being forced onto teachers in public school systems in Michigan and many other states.

TMLC was concerned after hearing about a two-day MANDATORY Islamic training course for teachers taught by a Muslim consultant who was hired by Michigan’s Novi Community Schools District, according to TMLC.

The Thomas More Law Center filed a FOIA request for documents related to this two-day Islamic training workshop and discovered that the teachers were being told lies about Islamic terrorism, jihad and Sharia law.

Furthermore, the teachers were also being told by the Muslim consultant, an Arab, hijab-clad woman named Huda Essa, that white males are more dangerous than Islamic terrorists.

Richard Thompson, the president of TMLC and chief counsel said, “We found that the teachers were subjected to two days of Islamic propaganda, where Islam was glorified, Christianity disparaged, and America bashed—all funded by Novi taxpayers.”

“This type of infiltration amounts to an Islamic Trojan horse within our public-school systems,” Thompson said. “No other religion gets this kind of special treatment in our schools.”

  26. Germans Under Siege
Police stats reveal Germans overwhelmingly victims of migrant crimes.
    August 22, 2019
    Stephen Brown

“…civilization is precious good, whose delicate complex of order and freedom, culture and peace, can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within.”
    -Will Durant, historian

It is a situation that the left-leaning German media averts its eyes from because it disrupts the multicultural idyll it promotes: that Germans are, overwhelmingly, the victims of migrant crime.

But leftist journalists’ looking away does not prevent German police from putting the real face on this terrible situation.

“Germans were more often the victim of a crime committed by a migrant than the other way around,” stated Germany’s Federal Crime Office in a publication titled “Criminality in the Context of Migration.”

And crime statistics provided by the German national newspaper, Die Welt, unfortunately, bear this out. The Federal Crime Office stated that in 2018 230 Germans fell victim to the crimes of murder and manslaughter, committed by a least one migrant suspect, while 33 asylum seekers were killed by German suspects.

The Federal Crime Office’s statistics in the area of sexual assault are even worse. In 2018, police recorded 3,261 sexual assaults against German women by migrants, a 21 percent increase over 2017, while 33 women asylum seekers were sexually assaulted by Germans.

  27. Enabling China’s Mass Surveillance System
How an American organization is helping a communist tyranny control its people.
    August 22, 2019
    John Glynn

In the 18th century, Jeremy Bentham, an English philosopher, jurist, and social reformer, introduced the idea of the Panopticon, a disciplinary concept brought to life in the form of a central observation tower placed within a circle of prison cells. Each cell is flooded with light, which creates an environment in which prisoners are under constant watch. Even if no guard is on duty, a prisoner will always feel as if they are being watched. Bentham described it as “[a] new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind.” The Panopticon is the optimal prison; it enables an unprecedented level of surveillance.

When we discuss the concept of surveillance, one country automatically springs to mind.

China’s transition from what Rebecca MacKinnon calls a “networked authoritarianism” to what is now a form of networked totalitarianism is almost complete. The difference is not merely semantic. As John Naughton writes, “An authoritarian regime is relatively limited in its objectives: there may be elections, but they are generally carefully managed; individual freedoms are subordinate to the state; there is no constitutional accountability and no rule of law in any meaningful sense.”

In contrast, according to Naughton, totalitarianism “prohibits opposition parties, restricts opposition to the state and exercises an extremely high degree of control over public and private life.” The historian Robert Conquest put it best when he argued that a totalitarian state recognizes no limits to its authority. Proponents of totalitarianism have no respect for privacy. In a totalitarian state, privacy is but an illusion.

By implementing a fully functional social credit system replete with an inescapable network of surveillance cameras keyed to facial recognition, China has morphed into a technocratic totalitarian state. For many readers, such reports are nothing new. However, what if I was to tell you that an American organization is currently helping China’s authoritarian government to conduct mass surveillance against its citizens?

  28. Lefties Financed Ballot Initiatives by Diverting Cash from HIV Patients, Medicare

    Daniel Greenfield

    This is…

    1. Truly abominably horrible

    2. How the Left does business

The gargantuan political machine is Tammany Hall as envisoned by the greatest financial scammers in the world who have found a way to pick the bones of the massive socialist system they’ve built up. One reason the Left is dominant is because while conservatives are funded by donors, donors, even guys like George Soros, make up a small percentage of the funding of leftist ideology. Most of it comes from taxpayers.

A lot of is diverted in extremely ingenious ways that most people don’t even have a clue about.

Here’s a disgusting, but not atypical example in which money was allegedly diverted from HIV patients and Medicare to push leftist ballot initiatives.

  30. Boat with 356 Migrants Docks in Malta as 6 Countries Accept to Welcome them (aawsat, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1869206/boat-356-migrants-docks-malta-6-countries-accept-welcome-them

“France said Friday it will take 150 of the 356 migrants disembarking from a humanitarian ship in the Mediterranean Sea after six European countries agreed to accept all of them.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner tweeted that the 150 will be welcomed in France “in the coming days.”

He added: “Together, we managed to build a European solution.”

The Norwegian-flagged rescue ship Ocean Viking, with a stated passenger capacity of around 200, picked up the people in four rescue efforts off Libya from Aug. 9-12.

The migrants are being disembarked in Malta from the vessel and distributed to France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Romania.

Requests for a safe port were previously denied by Malta and ignored by Italy, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and SOS Mediterranee, the two charities running the ship.

MSF welcomed Malta’s decision to take ashore the migrants rescued. But the group also questioned why it took so long, calling for permanent European solutions.

Jay Berger, operations manager for Doctors Without Borders on board the Ocean Viking, said: “We are relieved that the long ordeal for the 356 people on board with us if finally over but was it necessary to keep them waiting for two weeks of torment?”

In a statement, he added: “This is about people who have fled desperate conditions in their homelands and have survived the horrific violence in Libya.”

He said once the rescued migrants have left the ship, the Ocean Viking will continue with its mission after restocking supplies and refueling.

The European Union also welcomed Malta’s decision and the pledges made by the European countries to welcome the migrants.

EU Migration Commissioner Dmitris Avramopoulos said in a statement that “these commitments must now be honored and materialized swiftly.”

The EU’s border and asylum agencies will help screen people before they are relocated.”

    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1869461/iran-impossible-renegotiate-nuclear-deal

“Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated on Friday that “it is not possible to renegotiate” the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

According to the ILNA news agency, Zarif said talks he held in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron about the deal were “productive.”

“France had presented some suggestions and we presented some suggestions about how to carry out (the nuclear deal) and the steps that both sides need to take,” the minister said.

“The talks were good and productive of course it depends on how the European Union can carry out the commitments within (the nuclear deal) and also the commitments that they made after (the nuclear deal) and America’s exit.”

It is not possible to renegotiate the nuclear deal, Zarif said, according to ILNA.

A British diplomatic source said Friday that Britain was unlikely to alter its approach on Iran despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson meeting US President Donald Trump.

A French official also said that the so-called “E3” major European powers of France, Britain and Germany needed to stay united on Iran.

“It’s important to keep the E3 together on Iran,” said the French official, while the British diplomatic source said the UK felt the 2015 agreement signed with Iran remained the best way to ensure Tehran did not get nuclear weapons.

Trump’s administration has abandoned that deal and stepped up sanctions on Iran.”

  33. Algeria’s Protests Enter 7th Month (aawsat, Aug 23, 2019)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1869471/algerias-protests-enter-7th-month

“Algerians on Friday were back on the streets reiterating their demands for the removal of the ruling elite as the country’s protest movement entered a seventh month with no let-up in sight.

Crowds of demonstrators who thronged the capital and key cities across the country rallied to cries of a “Free and democratic Algeria” and a “Civil state, not a military one”.

They directed their wrath at army chief Ahmed Gaid Salah, who has emerged as the key powerbroker since president Abdelaziz Bouteflika resigned in April in the face of mass protests.

They also vented their ire against Karim Younes, an ex-speaker of the lower house appointed by authorities to head a national dialogue to pave the way for presidential elections.

The protest in Algiers dispersed calmly in the late afternoon, while demonstrations in other major cities likewise passed off without disturbances, according to local journalists.

In July, Bouteflika’s interim successor Abdelkader Bensalah proposed a national dialogue without state or military involvement.

Elections planned for July 4 were postponed, after the only two candidates — both little-known — were rejected by electoral authorities.

The demonstrators have repeatedly demanded key regime figures step down — and credible institutions be established — before any polls.

The protesters have so far maintained a united front, taking to the streets every week since February.

Only a few opposition parties have so far agreed to meet with Younes and his dialogue committee, including a party headed by former prime minister Ali Benflis.

Last week the ex-premier said that presidential elections were the only way of emerging from the political crisis that has gripped Algeria for six months, so long as the polls were free and fair.

But on Friday the demonstrators rejected his views, chanting “Benflis to the rubbish bin”.”

Al-Asheikh was received by Salah Mezhiev, adviser to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, and Chechnya’s supreme mufti as well as other officials.

Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary-General Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa delivered the first Friday sermon to be given in the mosque.

Kadyrov welcomed the Saudi delegation and congratulated the Kingdom’s leadership on the success of this year’s Haj.

The secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, also attended the event.

Named after Prophet Muhammad, the marble-decorated mosque has capacity for more than 30,000 people.

At the opening ceremony, Kadyrov said the mosque — located in Shali, a town of 54,000 just outside the regional capital Grozny — was “unique in its design, and majestic in its size and beauty”.

The mosque’s grounds, planted with flowers and sprinkled with fountains, can host an additional 70,000 worshipers, local authorities said. — SPA with agencies”

“20 NGOs urge France to criticise Egyptian president– Twenty NGOs have urged French President Emmanuel Macron to denounce Egypt’s human rights record, criticising the invitation of Egyptian president to the G7 summit to be held in France on Saturday and Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported.

“It was a striking choice for France to invite Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to attend the 24-26 August G7 summit in Biarritz, for which the chosen theme is ‘the fight against inequality’,” the NGOs which included Human Rights Watch, Reporters without Borders, and Egyptian civil society groups said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement said the number of Egyptians under the poverty line has clearly risen according to official Egyptian 2018 statistics, while the World Bank estimates that most of Egypt’s population is either poor or vulnerable.

“Public space has been virtually closed down in Egypt in the midst of a worsening human rights crisis, with a severe rollback of the freedoms of expression, assembly, association and the press.
