President Trump’s arms deal with Saudi Arabia was already highly controversial because of the number of civilians being killed by the Saudis with US-made and -provided bombs. Yet the controversy may well grow from here. That’s because the US isn’t just sending billions of dollars worth of arms to the Saudis. The Trump Administration is also allowing armsmaker Raytheon to transfer highly sensitive US weapons technology to Saudi Arabia, to make many of the bomb parts in Saudi Arabia. The technology transfer will allow the Saudis to produce many of the most important parts, and in time, produce their own version of the Raytheon Paveway smart bombs. This would in the long run remove Congressional oversight from the arms transfer, by making the Saudis self-sufficient in the smart bombs that have been killing thousands of civilians in Yemen. Congress is split into several camps, The Saudi Camp, The Iranian Camp and the US Camp and the peace at an cost camp. Saudi is our ally in the fight against Iran and President Trump remembers how in the 70s the Democrats refused to live up to the US commitments in the Treaty of Paris and resupply the South Vietnamese. This let the communist north conquer and enslave the south. Given the current make up of the Dem Party if they could get power in DC right now they would cut off the weapons to Saudi and let Iran win that proxy war. Which would give Iran a strangle hold on a major portion of the worlds oil.
The current leadership of the Dems would care about that because they want to stop all use of oil based fuels and stop use of all plastics where oil based or Soy Bean based. By letting the Saudi’s build their own weapons we are (possibly maybe probably) creating a future problem but that is in the future and we are worried about the present.

Urban districts that are included in the Danish government’s “ghetto list” have seen the organised mobilisation of the areas’ Muslim residents to vote for certain parties and candidates, the newspaper Jyllands-Posten reported.
“Different associations have joined together: Pakistanis, Arabs and Turks. Fortunately, was still Ramadan, so we met in mosques every day. Lastly, we have been working to get people mobilised to vote for specific candidates. It’s been successful,” Kasim Ahmad, a former spokesman for the Islamic Society, told Jyllands-Posten.
For instance, in the Gellerup district of Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, an electoral group was set up, which in co-operation with a mosque and various associations advised people to vote for the Social Liberals and the Red-Green Coalition.
In Gellerup alone, where about 80 percent of the population are immigrants and their descendants, support for the Social Liberals rose from merely 5.1 percent in 2015 to a whopping 34.2 percent in 2019. The same trend was seen in Vollsmose, Tingbjerg and in Nørrebro, also present on the “ghetto list”, where the Red-Green Alliance also performed strongly.
“This worries me, because it testifies that there is no separation of powers, but an association that does not take place on political grounds, but the premises of Islam. It can affect the very basic uniformity we have in Danish society,” debater and high school teacher Søren Hviid Pedersen, who holds a a PhD in political theory, told Jyllands-Posten.
Pastor Sørine Gotfredsen was also unimpressed by the “Muslim mobilisation”.
“With this type of mobilisation, when you go so far as to recommend a particular party, the parallel state goes from being introverted and hemmed in to being an integral feature of society. The parallel state takes a step further into the struggle over what Denmark is all about,” Gotfredsen mused.
However, religion scholar and sociologist Brian Arly Jacobsen at the University of Copenhagen does not believe that one should hold imams accountable. Nor does he think that there is something inherently wrong with Muslims organising themselves in to special election groups.
“In a democracy, it is a legal argument they have made, and from this perspective, I don’t think they have mobilised themselves on the basis of certain interests. There are even other community groups that do so”, Jacobsen said.
Nor did Rabih Azad-Ahmad, the Social Liberals’ representative in Aarhus, see any problem. On the contrary, he welcomed the idea that residents of Gellerup and other places of exclusion “embrace democracy”.
As of 2018, 29 Danish residential areas met the revised ghetto criteria.
In the 2019 general election, the left-of-the-centre parties constituting the “red” bloc made a significant advance, with the Social Democrats emerging as a winner with 25.9 percent of the vote and the Social Liberals stunning analysts by nearly doubling its result to 7.7 percent.
Experience from other Scandinavian countries indicates that immigrants and Muslims tend to vote for the left-of-the-centre parties, which generally favour immigration and are more generous in terms of social benefits. In Sweden, Muslim voters are known to heavily favour the ruling Social Democrats and their allies. According to political scientist Magnus Hagevi of Linnaeus University, in Växjö, up to 75 percent of Muslims sympathise with the red-green bloc.”

“The Swedish think tank Tiden proposes to solve the problem of failing students by getting rid of unsatisfactory grades in order to promote inclusivity, reduce inequality and help failing “newcomers”.
The think tank Tiden (“The Time”), which is affiliated with the ruling Social Democrats party, the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) the Worker’s Educational Association (ABF), has sparked a storm with its proposal to remove the F grade (unsatisfactory) in public schools.
Last spring, 17,400 or 15.6 percent of all Swedish students left the ninth grade with grades that were too low for them to be admitted to high school. According to Tiden, the children of citizens with a low level of educational attainment as well as new arrivals are over-represented among those who fail. Over 70 percent of immigrant kids don’t make it to secondary school, and boys fail more often than girls.
Instead, Tiden proposes introducing “dashes” for all subjects where a positive assessment of a student is not possible.
In order to boost the proportion of pupils eligible to continue their education, Tiden also suggested abolishing mathematics as a “basic subject”. This would mean that an acceptable grade in mathematics wouldn’t be required to be admitted to secondary school. The current requirements in the subject of mathematics were called “an insurmountable obstacle”.
According to Tiden’s director Daniel Färm, the think tank focuses on existing inequality without reducing the requirement for knowledge. According to Färm, there is a “class perspective” in today’s school, as the children of educated parents tend to outperform the others.
“For us, a labour think tank, it is especially important to reduce the differences that are due to parents’ level of education,” Färm told the tabloid daily Aftonbladet. According to him, the school shouldn’t “sift out” students with poorer prospects, but must strive in order to provide everyone with good conditions for learning.
The report received a lot of attention on social media, where the proposal was widely mocked.
“How socialists solve a problem: remove the measurement tools used to measure the problem and pretend that the problem disappears,” Hampus Andersson of the Citizen’s Coalition party tweeted.
“Then you send them to high school to solve the problem of lack of knowledge. In 4-5 years, they are admitted to the university with non-existent knowledge. A typically socialist method, to hold off problems all the time,” another user chimed in.
Some ventured that this was a slippery slope, and that in the future calls to abolish E will be heard as well.
“Why not completely abolish school and just give everyone A plus? Significantly cheaper, at least in the short term,” another user sneered.
“Lower the bar more and more and wonder why there is no qualified workforce,” yet another jeered.
“It is a question of time before the socialists solve the bombing crisis by legalising bombs,” was another sarcastic take.

A new cooperation with Morocco and tighter rapport between the Swedish border police and social authorities appears to have put a damper on the influx of Moroccan “minors”, the majority of whom are in fact adults, national broadcaster SVT reported.
For a few years, Swedish authorities have been sounding the alarm over unaccompanied Moroccan “street children” who have been coming to the Scandinavian country in increasing numbers. Many sleep outdoors, they are often drug-influenced, and they commit serious crimes, SVT reported.
Neither the Swedish police nor the National Board of Health and Welfare have an exact figure on how many unaccompanied Moroccans are currently staying in Sweden, as many have entered the country illegally. However, fingerprint tests show that only ten percent of those checked are below 18 years of age. The rest have been lying about their age and are adults.
To illustrate this phenomenon, SVT told the story of Ali, who came to Sweden over a year ago. While he actually was 22, he lied and said that he was 16, as he had heard from friends that this was the easiest way to get help from the Swedish authorities. However, his real age was subsequently revealed using fingerprints. Now, Ali admittedly lives on the street and makes a living off of petty crimes.
By his own admission, he sees “no future” in Sweden and would like to move to Belgium instead, where he has contacts and plans to start a drug-peddling scheme.
In the past seven years, a total of 1,800 Moroccan “children” have applied for asylum in Sweden. This year, however, only 55 have applied, which is 20 percent fewer than during the same period last year. However, the number is likely to increase further during summer months.
One reason for the reduction is believed to be a new agreement between Sweden and Morocco, which enables the border police to match the fingerprints of unaccompanied minors to Moroccan databases, an opportunity lauded by Swedish law enforcement professionals.
“When we find their identity, they leave the country and move on to other cities in Europe such as Barcelona or Paris. They do not want the police to know who they are because then they can be punished and be sent back to Morocco,” Christian Frödén, group manager at the border police in Stockholm told SVT.
Sweden’s Moroccan diaspora is estimated at about 10,000 people. Out of about 800 “street children” living in Sweden, the majority is estimated to be of Moroccan descent.”

“DORTMUND descended into chaos yesterday as more than 80 people were involved in a mass brawl.
Police officers were called to the north of Dortmund yesterday afternoon after reports around 80 people were involved in a “major conflict”. In the fight, legs of chairs, wooden slats, tools and even Molotov cocktails – petrol bombs – had been used, according to police officials. The police have arrested three suspects and seized “various dangerous objects”.
When the police arrived at the scene of the conflict, at Schleswiger Platz, the participants reportedly fled “in all directions”.
Approximately 150 people were watching the mass brawl, making it difficult for the police to intervene.
But the task forces said they received support from “all of Dortmund and neighbouring authorities”, enabling them to clear the Schleswiger Square and prevent further disputes.
The police state they have arrested three suspects and seized “various dangerous objects”.
An official police statement said: “At 4.17pm today the police attended a call at Schleswiger Platz.”
It added: “The police extinguished ignited Molotov cocktails.
“Locally, a group of about 150 onlookers harassed the first-in-command and prevented their work.
“With the help of support forces from all over Dortmund and neighbouring authorities, the police cleared the large area around the Schleswiger place and prevented further clashes by demonstrating strong police presence.”
In the statement the officers said the reason for the operation was “a fight amount a larger group of people”.

“Following a series of budgetary cuts as part of populist Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s security and migration decree, migrant helper associations claim they have been forced to lay off thousands of employees.
The Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL) union announced the complaint, saying that so far pro-migrant groups have been forced to lay off around 5,000 workers due to the funding cuts in the security decree and added that the social centres were looking at a total of 15,000 layoffs by the end of the year, Italian newspaper Il Giornale reports.
CGIL’s Stefano Sabato commented on the effect of the migration funding cuts saying, “At the moment we have come to count about 5000 redundancy procedures, to which we are responding with the tools available, solidarity agreements, fund for wage integration, but our interest is to be able to restore ordinary social safety nets to cope with the dramatic situation that in this way we risk not being able to manage.”
“If the Security decree is not reformed or amended within 12 months, we will still have to launch mass dismissal procedures,” he added.
The announcement of mass layoffs in the pro-migrant reception sector come only months after the left-wing groups complained that their profits were going to decline as a result of the security decree.
As early as 2016, it was revealed that mafia groups were also involved in taking money from the Italian state to run asylum reception centres but were not only pocketing large amounts of cash while giving migrants substandard living arrangements and food, they were also rumoured to have been charging migrants “protection money” as well.
While left-wing NGOs and other pro-mass migration groups have slammed Salvini’s tough anti-mass migration policies, the head of the largest reception centre in the country admitted last year that open borders policies had been negative for both Italians and the migrants themselves.”

Iran has accelerated enrichment of uranium, IAEA says

TEHRAN/VIENNA June 10 (Reuters) – Iran has followed through on a threat to accelerate its production of enriched uranium, the head of the U.N. atomic watchdog said on Monday, departing from his usual guarded language to say he was worried about increasing tension.
The assessment comes at a time of sharply increased U.S.-Iranian confrontation in recent weeks, a year after Washington abandoned an agreement between Iran and world powers to curb Tehran’s nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting of international financial sanctions.
Washington tightened sanctions from the start of May, ordering all countries and companies to halt all imports of Iranian oil or be banished from the global financial system. It has also dispatched extra troops to the region to counter what it describes as Iranian threats.
Iran has responded with a threat to increase its enrichment of uranium, saying it is up to Europeans who still support the nuclear deal to save it by finding ways to ensure Tehran gets the economic benefits it was promised.
IAEA chief Yukiya Amano, whose agency is responsible for monitoring Iranian compliance with the nuclear deal, said Iran was now producing more enriched uranium than before, but it was not clear when it might reach stockpile limits set in the pact.
“Yes, (the) production rate is increasing,” he told a news conference when asked if enriched uranium production had accelerated since the agency’s last quarterly report, which found Iran compliant with the nuclear deal as of May 20. He declined to quantify the increase.

Hong Kong Braces for Unprecedented Strikes Over Extradition Bill
(Bloomberg) — Hong Kong braced for rare strikes and further protests amid an escalating standoff over a controversial bill that would allow extraditions to mainland China.
Local companies said they would suspend work or allow flexible office hours on Wednesday to accommodate workers planning to demonstrate near the city’s Legislative Council, which will meet to debate amendments. The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions, a pro-democracy labor group, and several student associations urged members to join the strike and reprise a protest Sunday that drew of hundreds of thousands.
The legislature was expected to gather around 12 p.m. Wednesday to consider changes proposed by opposition lawmakers. The body’s leader closed off the area outside the chamber — a popular protest site known as the Drum — after scuffles in that area early Monday morning.
Opponents want Hong Kong’s leader, Chief Executive Carrie Lam, to withdraw the legislation and threatened to organize a bigger, general strike June 17 to keep up the pressure.

Russia, in rare U-turn after public anger, drops case against journalist
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian police on Tuesday abruptly dropped drugs charges against journalist Ivan Golunov, a rare U-turn by the authorities in the face of anger from his supporters who alleged he was framed for his reporting and threatened to stage a mass protest in Moscow.
Golunov, a 36-year-old journalist known for exposing corruption among Moscow city officials, was detained by police on Thursday last week and accused of serious drug offences which he flatly denied.
Russian journalists critical of authorities have led a dangerous existence since the 1990s – sometimes threatened, physically attacked, and even murdered for their work.
But the crude way supporters said Golunov was set up and detained triggered an unusual show of media unity and an uncharacteristically swift response from authorities nervous about social unrest at a time when President Vladimir Putin already faces disquiet over living standards.
Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said in a statement that the criminal case against Golunov was being dropped due to a lack of evidence of any wrongdoing on his part. He said the journalist would be freed from house arrest later on Tuesday.
Some police officers involved in the case were being temporarily removed from duty pending an investigation, he said, adding that he planned to ask Putin to dismiss other more senior police personnel.

Exclusive: The thin evidence against a jailed Venezuela opposition official
CARACAS (Reuters) – At about 2 a.m. on March 21, eight Venezuelan intelligence agents drove to the home of the top advisor to opposition leader Juan Guaido and broke down the door.
They searched the bedroom of their suspect – Guaido’s chief of staff, Roberto Marrero – finding two military-style rifles and a grenade, the agents said in sealed court records reviewed by Reuters and being made public for the first time.

The Sebin intelligence agency, controlled by embattled socialist President Nicolas Maduro, had detailed its evidence against Marrero in two reports that agents said they had compiled six days earlier, on March 15, the court records show. The reports accused Marrero of smuggling guns and explosives from Colombia and posting social media messages that prosecutors would later call treason.
But the reports contradict themselves in ways that suggest the social media evidence was cobbled together only after the raid – not six days before, as the agents and prosecutors attested in court records. And a judge granted the warrant to search for weapons based on the word of a single Sebin agent who never detailed any evidence of smuggling in the warrant application reviewed by Reuters.
One Sebin report includes a screen shot of a Google search on the terms “Roberto Marrero Instagram” that agents said was made at 8:37 a.m. on March 15 – but was in fact conducted at least six days later, as evidenced by the three news stories included in the search results that reported the agents’ March 21 raid of Marrero’s home.
Agents and prosecutors attested in court records that they had submitted that search – including the news stories on the raid – in a warrant application filed nearly a week before the raid ever happened.

With agreement on the last-minute deal, Mexico avoided being saddled with tariffs. President Trump had promised to impose tariffs beginning Monday, June 10, on all Mexican goods if they didn’t come up with a plan to stem the tide of illegal aliens streaming into the U.S. But late Friday night, the State Department announced a deal had been made and that the tariffs would be taken off the table indefinitely, once again proving the president’s skill at the “Art of the Deal.”
But wait! On Saturday the New York Times said it begged to differ — that deal was made in March and that the president used an old agreement to back out of the upcoming tariffs that could hurt the American economy, especially for those Americans addicted to avocados and guacamole.
So is the Times correct? No. It’s not surprising that the Times published fake news: They do that often. But this story is worse. This time their report is sneakily fake: They took something that was almost true and spun it into a big, fat lie.

UCLA Daily Bruin Censors Facts About Student Links to Terrorists

The UCLA Daily Bruin and its editorial staff have made a mockery of the concept of a free press, opening their pages to terrorist political organizations and closing them to the opponents of terrorist propaganda and Jew hatred. The Bruin’s allegiance to the destroy-Israel left and failure to observe the core principles of journalism in a democracy was glaringly obvious in its coverage of a recent student government ruling.
The resolution passed on Tuesday, May 21, by the UCLA Undergraduate Students Association asserted that—contrary to all evidence and a long history of spreading the genocidal lies of Hamas terrorists, and harassing Jewish students and their invited speakers— the group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) is not anti-Semitic. The student council further condemned the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s newest report, “An Epidemic of Jew Hatred on Campus: the Top Ten Neo-Nazi Incidents” which was distributed in newspaper form on the UCLA campus, claiming that it made “racist and demonizing accusations of campus activism [against Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)] being directly continuous with terrorism.”
Since the Bruin failed to interview the targets of these slanders, David Horowitz immediately reached out to UCLA Daily Bruin Editor-in-Chief Jacob Preal to ask for an opportunity to respond to the resolution’s false and defamatory claims about the Freedom Center and its report.
“I’d like you, in the interests of fairness and good journalism, to print this brief but to the point response I’ve written to the asinine resolution the undergraduate student association just passed condemning me and my Center,” he wrote.

In a vastly under-reported story by the mainstream media, the capital of the United States barely missed being the target of a Nice-like terrorism attack that killed 86 people and plunged France into grief and shock.
In that French city, in July, 2014, a Muslim terrorist drove a large truck down a popular promenade, deliberately smashing into as many innocent people out for a walk as possible, killing 86.
Jihadists have a bitter history of using vehicles to kill infidels in the West. Besides Nice, the Berlin Christmas market truck attack in 2016, for example, left 12 dead, while in 2017 a jihadist drove a van down a pedestrian promenade in Barcelona, killing 13.
It was now America’s turn.
In Washington, D.C. last March, Rondell Henry, 28, a native of Trinidad inspired by Islamic State videos of violence and death, was planning a Nice-like attack by running over a crowd of innocent people.
Henry, a naturalized American citizen who lived in Germantown, Maryland, had first driven to Virginia on March 26 where he stole a U-Haul truck he had tailed and which he intended to use as his murder weapon. He actually left his BMW parked near the parking garage where he stole the truck, probably considering it too small for his murderous purposes.
“The defendant appears to have formed a plot to harm large numbers of people and taken concrete steps to execute that plot,” said the U.S. attorney for Maryland.

How did you first meet Viktor Orbán?
I began to work for Viktor Orbán in 1994. I was at home with my younger son at that time, who was 3 years old, when the Communists came back in power with the Liberals. Orbán was head of the opposition party. I was always anti-Communist. I first “fell in love” with Orbán in 1989 when he gave his speech on Heroes Square telling the Soviets to leave Hungary. It was the most important speech of that era in Hungary. I had just come back from the University of Indiana, in Bloomington, where I went on a Soros Grant in 1989 to research Jewish history. I had one of the first Soros Scholarship in Hungary in 1984! And when I came back from the States, there was this funeral (for Imre Nagy, Hero of the Hungarian Uprising 1956) where Orbán spoke, and I said, “Oh my God, he’s the bomb!”
I knew his chief of staff at the time so he introduced me. I was sure they wouldn’t follow the Liberals into a Communist government. They were young, but their heart was in the right place. I’ve never voted for any other party than Fidesz since 1990. When Orbán became Prime Minister in 1998, I became Chief Adviser and started the Terror House Museum in Budapest.
Viktor Orbán was on very good terms with Helmut Kohl. Can you imagine that? There was a conference on Helmut Kohl’s 85th birthday, where Orbán gave a speech. When Orbán became Prime Minister the first time in 1998, he was only 35. So his first move was to call Helmut Kohl and ask him “What should I do?” Kohl said, “Come on over, we’ll talk.” The former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu did the same thing when he became President in 1996: He called Helmut Kohl. All the Central Europeans looked up to Helmut Kohl, but now they would not turn to the head of the German government for advice anymore. What Angela Merkel and the Germans forget: Germany is not a Western European country. It is a Central European country. It’s in the middle of Europe. It does not belong to the West, or to the East. It could make something out of that. After Brexit, France is alone. Without Eastern Europe, Germany can’t have good policy.

“Last month, a security expert told UK media that Daesh (ISIS)* leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may have moved to Afghanistan following the recent elimination of the group’s ‘caliphate’ in Iraq and Syria.
An Afghanistan-based US intelligence official believes Daesh, not the Taliban, is currently the most serious threat to US and European security emanating from the war-torn Central Asian country.
“This group is the most near-term threat to our homelands from Afghanistan,” the official said, speaking to AP. “The [Daesh] core mandate is: You will conduct external attacks…That is their goal. It’s just a matter of time. It is very scary,” the official noted.
According to the official, the recent string of deadly car and suicide bombing attacks in the Afghan capital of Kabul for which Daesh has claimed responsibility were just “practice runs” for even larger-scale attacks planned for Europe and the US.
The official did not clarify whether US or European intelligence had any idea about how the Afghanistan-based jihadists planned to make their way westward, although tens of thousands of Afghan refugees are thought to have entered the EU in recent years amid the migrant crisis which began in 2015.
Daesh’s Afghan presence has grown dramatically amid the decline of the terror group’s activities in Iraq and Syria. Ajmal Omar, a member of the provincial council of the Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, estimates that “thousands” of militants have now set up shop in his region.
“Right now in Kunar, the right side of the road is Taliban, the left side is Daesh and the government is in the middle,” he said. “When they began in Afghanistan they were maybe 150 Daesh, but today there are thousands and thousands,” he added.
The US and its NATO allies have struggled to gain and keep control over Nangarhar province since the 2001 invasion, with the mountainous province recently becoming home to violent clashes between local Taliban militants and the incoming Daesh terrorists struggling for control.
On Tuesday, Afghan media reported that some 13,300 families were displaced in fighting between the militant groups over the past month and a half, forcing them to settle on the outskirts of the city of Jalalabad. One resident said Daesh had threatened to kill civilians unless they left their homes.
Daesh’s Afghan affiliate is known as ‘Khorasan Province’, with its area of operations said to include Afghanistan, Pakistan and other areas of South Asia including India. In addition to recruits from the Taliban, the regional affiliate is thought to consist of militants from Arab countries, India, Russia’s Chechnya, Bangladesh and radicalised Uighurs from western China.
Commenting on Daesh’s acquisition of “key” Afghan terrain from which they can stockpile cash, weapons and equipment and “plan, train, stage, facilitate and expedite attacks,” the intelligence official urged the US and its allies to commit to a more aggressive “counterterrorism” strategy in the country.
Earlier this month, the US envoy negotiating with the Taliban promised to hold fresh talks with the group in Doha, Qatar following a month-long lull. Despite continued fighting between Taliban forces and the Afghan government, the two sides have made efforts to sit down for negotiations to bring the nearly 18 year old war in Afghanistan to an end.

“German national Pia Klemp, the former captain of both the Iuventa and the Sea Watch-3 migrant rescue vessels, faces up to twenty years in an Italian prison after being put on trial on charges of suspicion of “help and complicity in illegal immigration.”
Ms Klemp began her work on migrant rescue vessels six years ago as a deckhand but was able to rise up to the rank of captain by the time the Iuventa was seized by Italian authorities in 2017, French television broadcaster TV5Monde reports.
Along with the confiscation of the vessel was the confiscation of mobile phones and computers belonging to Klemp and others but the Italian justice system did not decide to allow for the reading of the contents of the devices until May of 2018.
While the current populist coalition between Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s Lega the Five Star Movement (M5S) has been well-known for anti-mass migration policies, the initial investigation against Klemp was initiated by the prior government of Paolo Gentiloni in 2016.
According to Klemp’s lawyer, the Italian secret service along with four other agencies had been observing the actions of the pro-migrant activists and had even tapped their phones and other forms of communication.
The main charge for the prosecution is to prove whether or not Klemp directly worked with Libyan people smugglers. Previously in 2017, Italian authorities released several photographs claiming to show members of the Iuventa collaborating with people smugglers.
“The evidence is serious. We have evidence of encounters between smugglers who have accompanied illegal immigrants to the ‘Iuventa’, and members of the crew,” prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio said after the release of the photographs.
Italian prosecutors have alleged a connection between people traffickers and migrant rescue NGOs for years and Klemp is not the only activist facing charges. Head of migrant transport NGO “Mediterranea Saving Humans” Luca Casarini is also currently under investigation by Italian authorities for aiding illegal migration after the vessel Mare Jonio entered Italian waters illegally earlier this year.”

“Italy’s populist government has approved stiff fines for migrant rescue boats that defy orders to stay out of Italian waters.
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Tuesday after a Cabinet meeting that a new decree allows fines of up to 50,000 euros ($57,000) when charity boats carrying migrants who were rescued at sea enter Italy’s ports without authorization.
The regulation also permits undercover police investigations of possible migrant trafficking operations and facilitates electronic eavesdropping on suspected people smugglers.
Since becoming interior minister a year ago, the right-wing Salvini has further toughened Italy’s oversight of rescue boats operated by private aid groups.
The number of smuggler vessels embarking from Libya and the corresponding number of migrant arrivals have dwindled.”
