Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. MEMRI Friday Sermon in Iran: Our Enemies – a Fusion of Jews, Polytheists – Are Crossbreed of Dogs, Wolves

Ayatollah Alireza Ebadi, Khamenei’s representative in the Iranian city of Birjand, said in a May 31, 2019 Friday sermon that aired on Khorasan Jonoobi TV (Iran) that Iran’s “impure and evil” enemy are a “fusion” of Jews and polytheists, and he described it as a dirty, predatory, reptilian, satanic, vile, and wicked “crossbreed of dogs and wolves” that has “pounced on the convoy of humanity.”

He said that the U.S. was built by oppressive Europeans on the graves of 80 million indigenous people, but that the Zionists are the worst of Iran’s enemies.

Ayatollah Ebadi then told a story about a doctor who wanted to cure himself of feeling connected to the village fool, and Ebadi said that, likewise, anyone who is attached to the West and its “dirty, anti-human, liberal-democratic ideology that has destroyed the world” should cure themselves.

    • The Persian version of snake oil salesman. I bet the people would rather drink snake oil.

Wot in hell?! Only 66 words but my Trowel of Cosmic Irony is yapping his fool head off and I just began typing! Let’s parse out Ayatollah Khaweenie’s words, shall we? Ectually, just about everyone here has shown they could give a bloody rip about careful analysis, so here goes…

If it weren’t for that, “dirty, predatory, reptilian, satanic, vile, and wicked “crossbreed of dogs and wolves”, society and modern culture (including that of the Iranians) would not exist today. Whether this beturbaned pile of ambulatory excrement is referring to the real animals or their anthropomorphized human equivalents, his parasitic butthole wouldn’t be farting through silk right now if it weren’t for White people and their dogs.

NOTE: — One of the only hopes for Islam is to forcibly return the entire ummah to those conditions found in Mohammad’s time. This is their explicitly stated goal and they impose it upon the world at gun point. It is now time to use the tools of Western Civilization to impose upon them, their own ideals in return.

Send the entire Muslim Middle East straight back to their sand-loving, lamb-eating prehistoric roots and devil take the hindmost while they sit and starve in the desert. Muslims will be struggling so hard to survive that they won’t even have time to fart in our general direction. —

If Ayatollah Khaweenie had his way, at best we’d all be wandering around the Savannah in a similar state to those tribes on the Dark Continent that still haven’t figured out simple things like dog sleds and canine pack systems or flock management.

One look at the treatment of food resources dogs all across Africa tells the entire story. From Cairo to Capetown, the only people with a reputation for humane animal care are the White settlers who colonized the place and dragged Africa kicking and screaming into the nineteenth century (where they remain today).

Incidentally, anyone who thinks that Communist China will bring progress to this benighted hellhole ought to invest in candle-making equipment and buggy whip manufacturing, because Red China will drag the Africans (not very far) back into centuries of cannibalism, just as the Collectivists have done everywhere else they set foot.

Spiritual, financial or physical cannibalism matters not to Beijing. Just so long as the bone fragments don’t perforate their intestines, the Politburo’s vampire elite will feast on the corpse of every human civilization in history before these Mandarins finally execute their way to utopia.

So, go ahead and keep giving Islam its reins. Muslims will lead us straight into hell if we don’t send them there first.

    • Great clip, EB! As I pointed out above, and Clare Lopez makes so abundantly clear, any assistance for Lebanon, or even just Islam in general, helps to kill Western Civilization.

It’s long past tea to FOREVER abandon this idiotic notion that the Arab–Israeli “conflict” is some detached microcosm that can be isolated from the reality of global Islamic jihad. It is all part of the same elephant-in-the-room–which Western blind men continue to identify as a wall, tree, spear, snake, rope or fan–that will bury us in its shit if we don’t starve it to death first.

If the Muslims are any indication, apartheid and walls work just fine. For them.

  2. SEXUAL ABUSE OFFENDERS AND ROAD KILLERS TO ESCAPE JAIL IN JUSTICE SHAKE-UP
Offences which might be in that sort of category will include perhaps causing death by careless driving, causing death whilst driving disqualified, possession of indecent photographs of children, possibly even distribution of lower category images. Other crimes which may escape jail include possession of offensive knives or weapons, the judge added, assaults and perhaps even in relation to the 15-18 month period some drugs supply charges, sexual offences and charges of multiple housebreaking. The Scottish Government wants to end shorter sentences because they don’t tackle re-offending or help rehabilitate offenders, while adding to overcrowding in Scotland’s jails. The SNP needs to think again on this. It’s vital that the justice system keeps ordinary people safe, punishes crime and offers sufficient deterrent to those considering crime. Scott MacNab
Perhaps we will have to return to the days of the law-abiding being the ones which need to be ‘locked up’ for their own protection. I presume that is why we once had walls and motes round cities!

  3. THE GIRL WHO MADE THE MISTAKE OF MAKING FRIENDS WITH A ZIONIST
Seeing a ‘Zionist’ as anything other than the ‘devil’ is anathema to the anti-Israel movement. Zena had made a mistake, she had painted a ‘Zionist’ as human and then publicly shared this with her friends. In their eyes she may as well have become an IDF soldier. The response to her Facebook post was swift and vicious. Notice how in a comment above Zina had even drawn a clear distinction between the way she had been treated on Joseph’s page and the way she was being handled by her own friends. These are the usual ‘put-downs’ and ‘smear by association’ tactics these bullies use. Joseph was also called a ‘poisonous, rabid, zionist, fascist, lowlife pos’ and there was a suggestion Joseph could be a ‘child rapist’ because this is what ‘these people’ believe… But much of the attack focused on Zina. She was told she was stupid, easily manipulated and what she was saying would ‘disgust’ and ‘shame’ real activists. ‘Brainwashed’ was a word floated around a lot and she was openly ridiculed. Dozens and dozens of posts calling her out. Eventually, battered and bruised, Zina opened another post trying to explain herself – and the attacks continued there. and that is it. Zina Abdullatif, a hard-core anti-Israel activist, made a mistake and spoke to a Zionist as if he were human. The bubble of hate she lives inside did the rest. How on earth is it possible to build bridges with such a twisted ideology of blind hate? The answer of course is that it isn’t possible. Zina and people like her are locked inside the bubble unable to get out. David Collier

  5. STUDY UNDERSCORES NEED FOR MORE RESEARCH TO DETERMINE WHETHER VACCINES ARE THE SOURCE
Researchers from Keele University in the UK examined brain tissue from deceased individuals with a diagnosis of autism, finding some of the highest values for aluminium in human brain tissue yet recorded. The research investigated brain tissue from ten donors, representing all donors available at the Autism Brain Bank, and a standout observation was the location of aluminium in primarily inflammatory, non-neuronal cells with evidence of these cells moving from blood and lymph into brain tissue. Sources of ingested aluminium include infant formula, foods in aluminium packaging, and foods cooked in aluminium pans or foil. However, in general less than 1 percent of dietary aluminium is absorbed.[2] A highly probable source of aluminium in the brains of autistic children is vaccines. A fully vaccinated child receives almost 5,000 mcg aluminium by 18 months of age.[3] The amount of aluminium in the eight doses given at the two-month baby check-up is 1,225 mcg.3 By contrast, the maximum allowable aluminium per day for intravenous feeding in children is 25 mcg.

    • Post-mortem elevated aluminum level is also associated with Alzheimer’s dementia, as perhaps related to profession.

  6. TWO BRAND NEW SENATORS CAST LIGHT ON THE GOP’s POST-TRUMP FUTURE
For decades now our politics and culture have been dominated by a particular philosophy of freedom,” Hawley said. “It is a philosophy of liberation from family and tradition; of escape from God and community; a philosophy of self-creation and unrestricted, unfettered free choice….But here is the irony. Though the Pelagian vision celebrates the individual, it leads to hierarchy. Though it preaches merit, it produces elitism. Though it proclaims liberty, it destroys the life that makes liberty possible. Professional Republicans have been wondering what our world will look like after Donald Trump. In Hawley and Scott, we can get a glimpse. Brad Todd

  7. SHIFT’ HAPPENING IN US ON ABORTION – SCALES FINALLY TIPPING
Dannenfelser attributed the “tidal wave” of pro-life momentum across the U.S. to the radicalism of the other side. She urged those in attendance to travel to and spend tourist dollars in states like Georgia where major companies and Hollywood actors have boycotted due to their recently adopted abortion restrictions. McConnell’s tactical move in 2016 is thus seen as what kept the decades-long dream alive of dismantling Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision legalizing abortion nationwide.
McConnell told the crowd Monday that he believes that by prioritizing lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary they will have the longest, most positive impact on the country in the future. Brandon Showalter

  8. PRO-LIFE REPLIES: A FETUS IS NOT A PERSON
    video – 4 minutes 42 seconds
“A fetus is not a person; it’s a clump of cells.” You’ve heard abortion advocates make this argument before. But what happens when we deny a group of people their personhood? The Holocaust, enslavement of African Americans, and the oppression of women, to name a few atrocities. Dr. Christopher Kaczor, Professor of Philosophy and author of the book, “The Ethics of Abortion: Women’s Rights, Human Life, and the Question of Justice,” digs into the moral and literal meaning of personhood and details exactly why it applies to preborn children.

Senior administration officials…the contract will be officially terminated Wednesday. Fetal tissue is the focus of research for cures or treatments for diseases such as HIV and pediatric cancer. But an official argued…that scientists have been claiming for 26 years that fetal tissue research would lead to significant medical breakthroughs. Yet, “there have been exactly zero miracle cures.” This was a decision by the president to affirm that this is a strongly pro-life administration, coming after months of frustration that the gruesome practice hadn’t been ended already by the agency,” the official said.

  10. YOUTUBE CRACKS DOWN ON PUNDITS & JOURNALISTS AFTER POLICY CHANGE
Minutes after announcing a new policy clamping down on “hateful” and “supremacist” videos, YouTube got to work banning, demonetizing, or otherwise hiding videos from conservatives, journalists,… Orwellian in theory? In practice, too. YouTube didn’t wait long before wielding the ban-hammer with glee. The crackdown was more a carpet-bombing than a precision strike. 13. SECRET PAY RAISE BY CABINET ANGERS PALESTINIAN PUBLIC
The Palestinian labor market in the West Bank was limping along in 2017, with unemployment stubbornly high and economic growth slowing. But that didn’t stop the Palestinian Cabinet from secretly giving itself a series of lavish payouts and perks, highlighted by a 67% salary hike. The payments and perks were kept quiet for the past two years, but news of the Cabinet decision leaked this week in a series of documents posted anonymously to social media. The revelations have rocked the West Bank, where the cash-strapped government has been forced to slash the salaries of its employees because of a financial crisis. Coming during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, a time of high expenses for struggling families, the report renewed outrage among Palestinians who have long seen their leadership as out of touch and rife with corruption. The raises were kept secret from the public and approved by President Mahmoud Abbas… Against this backdrop, the litany of leaked findings has deepened public disillusionment. Opinion surveys conducted by the prominent Palestinian pollster Khalil Shikaki reveal that over 80 percent of Palestinians consider their leadership corrupt. “The Palestinian Authority lost the trust of people a long time ago because of its unlawful practices,” said analyst Jihad Harb. After the latest leaks, he added, the government looks “very vulnerable and shaken.” Mohammed Daraghmeh

SUCCESS OF EVANGELISTIC EVENT – THREATS LEAD POLICE TO SHUT IT DOWN.
Police have banned evangelistic events in a town in western Uganda following open-air preaching in which many Muslims put their faith in Christ, sources said. “Jesus changed my life when I acknowledged him as my Lord and being the Son of the most high God,” one former sheikh (Muslim teacher) testified. This testimony touched many people, and large numbers showed up the following day, many of them putting their faith in Christ, church leaders said. In all, 35 Muslims put their faith in Christ. Offended Muslims began mobilizing, and more than 250 Muslims showed up at the event on May 25 armed with long swords and clubs in anticipation of attacking. Organizing the event was the Anglican Church of Uganda, the Sound of Salvation Ministry and the Church of Uganda of Bwera Custom Church. Church leaders in Bwera called on the international community to pray for protection and that converts remain firm in Christ.

  18. Oslo Police Arrest ‘Allah hu Akbar’ Knife Attacker Suspect (breitbart, Jun 6, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/06/06/man-arrested-oslo-stabbing-yelling-allah-hu-akbar/

“Police in the Norwegian capital arrested a man in his 30s suspected of stabbing at least one person, with witnesses claiming he yelled “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.

The attack occurred at around 8 am on Tuesday and saw the man, who is said to originally be from Russia, threaten several people in the Grünerløkka area of the city, Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang reports.

While a number of people were threatened by the suspect, one man, a migrant from the Philippines, was stabbed after trying to help one of the people being threatened by the Russian.

The brother of the stabbing victim described the incident saying: “Witnesses on the spot say that the man with the knife tried to attack a colleague of my brother, totally unprovoked. If my brother hadn’t tried to help him, it could have been much worse. My brother tried to take the knife off of him, but instead got stabbed.”

According to the brother, the victim had been rushed to hospital where he was treated for a punctured lung and is now in stable condition.

Shortly after the stabbing, police arrived on the scene and were able to subdue the attacker using electric tasers. Despite multiple witnesses claiming the man shouted “Allah hu Akbar” while he ran around threatening people, police say that they are currently not treating the incident as a terror attack.

“We do not currently have information that indicates that this is a terror-related incident,” police officer Anne Alræk Solem, who heads the serious violent crime division, said.

The stabbing comes only months after another case in the city that involved another Russian man who stabbed a woman in a supermarket in January which was investigated as an act of terror.

“The man said under questioning that he wanted to kill several people and that this was an act of terror,” the head of the Norwegian police’s security service (PST) Benedicte Bjoernland said after the incident.”

“Pakistan’s military says suspected militants have opened fire on a paramilitary vehicle patrolling in the town of Hernai in southwestern Baluchistan province, killing two troops before fleeing.

In a statement, it said Thursday’s attack targeted troops deployed for security duty during the three-day Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which began across Pakistan on Wednesday. It said a search has been launched to track the assailants.

No one claimed responsibility but small separatist groups have been blamed for previous such attacks.

Baluchistan province has been the scene of a low-level insurgency by separatists demanding more autonomy and a greater share in the region’s natural resources, such as gas and oil.

The province has also witnessed attacks claimed by Sunni Muslim militants.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/serbia-police-detain-migrant-stabbing-death-63522733

“Serbian police have detained a 17-year-old migrant from Afghanistan suspected of stabbing to death another Afghan national in central Belgrade.

Police said on Thursday they are still searching for another 17-yar-old migrant also suspected of taking part in the attack late on Wednesday in the Serbian capital.

Clashes often happen among thousands of migrants who have been stuck in the Balkans while looking for ways to move toward Western Europe.

Police in northwestern Bosnia say tensions persist there among migrants who clashed early on Wednesday in an asylum center in the town of Velika Kladusa. About 100 migrants were involved in the fight that left scores injured, including three policemen.

Spokesman Ale Siljdedic says police are on standby because “the situation among them could escalate at any moment.””

  22. Google Fires Conservative Employee After He Slams Company’s ‘Outrage Mobs, Witch Hunts’ – Reports (sputniknews, Jun 6, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/science/201906061075691023-google-fires-conservative-employee-outrage-mobs-witch-hunts/

“Last month, a Google employee penned an article about the US tech giant, describing it as a place where “outrage mobs and witch hunts dominate its culture” – something that, as he put it, has become an “existential threat” to the company’s credibility.

Google fired Mike Wacker, a conservative software engineer, after he published a post on Medium in which he suggested that the company’s “outrage mobs” and “witch hunts” target both outsiders and insiders, including its own employees, The Daily Caller reported.

While the article was penned on 21 May, Wacker was reportedly put on paid administrative leave last Wednesday and fired two days later.

Just a day before his suspension, the software engineer appeared on Fox Business to address Google’s anti-conservative bias, where he reiterated that those “outrage mobs are so hostile”, but even if you “push back on them, they can turn on you instead”.

“You don’t know what’s going to offend somebody next and a lot of time they are going to HR over these trivial things”, he said.

While speaking, Wacker reiterated something that he already claimed in the article: such “hateful” topics as the Conservative Political Action Conference or President of The Heritage Foundation Kay Coles James could land a person in much trouble with HR.

For instance, Google employees signed a petition two months ago calling for the removal of Kay Coles James from the company’s new AI ethics board over her “anti-LGBTQ” and “anti-immigrant” comments.

“Allegedly, Google is a company that supports a freedom of expression, but Google is also a company where you can get in trouble with HR for defending Jordan Peterson’s stance that the government cannot compel speech, including compelling the usage of preferred pronouns”, he wrote in the piece.

In his Medium post, Wacker detailed several instances where his disputes with other employees had escalated into HR complaints, which, he insists, are politically biased.

Neither Google, nor Wacker have commented on the information yet, but the software engineer has retweeted The Daily Caller’s article, as well as a post by Fox Business anchor Trish Regan that he was sacked after his appearance on her segment.

Wacker’s firing came shortly before reports emerged that the US Department of Justice was preparing to probe Google to see if their web search and other business practices violate antitrust laws.

Incidentally, US President Donald Trump has on a multitude of occasions accused tech giants, including Google and YouTube, of “suppressing voices of conservatives and hiding information and news that is good”.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Google was also accused of manipulating search results to favour Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.”

  23. How Amazon is helping cops build local surveillance networks

Amazon’s Ring doorbells are helping cops build surveillance networks in neighborhoods across the country.

More than 50 local police departments have partnered with Ring over the last two years and promoted the products to citizens — essentially building neighborhoods with security cameras on every doorstep, according to a report published Wednesday by tech website CNET.

“Our township is now entirely covered by cameras,” Capt. Vincent Kerney, detective bureau commander of the Bloomfield Police Department in New Jersey told the website. “Every area of town we have, there are some Ring cameras.”

When cops partner with Ring, they get access to a law enforcement dashboard where they can geofence an area and request footage filmed at specific times. They can only get the video if the resident chooses to send it, otherwise they would need to subpoena Ring.

But some police departments have been organizing Ring giveaways — at times using taxpayer dollars to buy the Amazon products — with the caveat that recipients of the smart doorbells need to hand over footage when requested, according to the report.

Ring said it would start cracking down on these strings attached.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Are robot baristas the future of South Korea’s vibrant coffee culture?

Dal.komm Coffee thinks so. The company now has 45 robot-equipped outlets in shopping malls, company cafeterias, schools and an airport.

Coffee is just one of many industries that could be transformed by automated services in this tech-forward nation, a notion both exciting and worrisome as jobs become scarcer.

South Korean industries, including restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets, banks and manufacturers, are relying increasingly on robots and other automation. But not without consequence: Many Koreans, especially the young, are struggling to find work.

Boundary-pushing, real and exceptionally realized, HBO’s new drama starring Zendaya tracks sex, drugs and rap in the life of modern teens.

There are a number of surprising and shocking elements in HBO’s new series Euphoria, which deals with teenage sexuality, drug use, peer pressure and more. But maybe the most shocking of them all is that the show is infinitely more impressive than a glance at its headliners might suggest.

It stars a former Disney Channel actress and pop singer, Zendaya (The Greatest Showman). It was produced by Drake, among others from the music business, and written by Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation, The Wizard of Lies) — the son of director Barry Levinson — who is still looking to cement his name. It has a long list of mostly unknown teen actors tasked with performing some harrowing modern-day coming-of-age stories steeped in bleakness. And it has the kind of trans plotline other series have struggled to present both accurately and respectfully.

The result? An early career-defining performance from Zendaya, who is an absolute revelation here; a similarly fantastic breakout performance from trans actress and model Hunter Schafer in her first major role; and strong work from Levinson, who created, wrote and directed (five of the eight episodes), getting the vehicle that emphatically announces his arrival.

This week, Western allies are gathering in Britain and France to commemorate the largest seaborne invasion in history. But far from the English Channel, another significant gathering is taking place that aims to cement a new alliance for this century.

Leaders from countries including the United States, Britain and France met Wednesday in Portsmouth, England, on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II. On Thursday, those leaders headed to Normandy to commemorate the assault on Nazi-occupied France in June 1944.

Effectively unmanned balloons, the untethered platforms operate with surveillance equipment payloads of as much as 220 pounds (100 kg) at altitudes of 50,000 feet to 75,000 feet, far above commercial air traffic.

They will be able to monitor mines, pipelines, transit infrastructure—and perhaps the contents of your fenced-off backyard—in hyper-accurate detail.

The company plans to start selling its commercial product early next year and has spoken with several potential commercial and military customers, Chief Executive Officer Ryan Hartman said Tuesday in an interview. World View sees its customer base as companies that operate critical industrial and commercial infrastructure.

The platform, navigated remotely using a unique altitude control system, can provide imagery that’s superior to orbiting vehicles, Hartman contends, because “we’re five times closer to the earth than the nearest satellite.” He said “our imagination is sort of our limit with regards to where and how these systems can be used. Certainly there is a market in target surveillance and reconnaissance on a global scale.”

    • Are these the robot controlled dirigibles that were projected as new aerial intelligence platforms about 15 to 20 years ago? Back then they were suppose to be used over foreign enemies and not over US cities. The way the article reads this sounds like more Big Brother surveillance.

    • ‘Surveillance capitalism’: critic urges Toronto to abandon smart city project

Project with Google’s Sidewalk Labs comes under increasing scrutiny amid concerns over privacy and data harvesting

A “smart city” project in Canada has hit yet another snag, as mounting delays and privacy concerns threaten the controversial development along the Toronto’s eastern waterfront.

The 12-acre Quayside project, a partnership between Google’s Sidewalk Labs and the city of Toronto, has come under increasing scrutiny amid concerns over privacy and data harvesting.

This week, the US venture capitalist Roger McNamee warned that technology companies such as Google cannot be trusted to safely manage the data they collect on residents.

“The smart city project on the Toronto waterfront is the most highly evolved version to date of … surveillance capitalism”, he wrote to the city council, suggesting Google will use “algorithms to nudge human behavior” in ways to “favor its business”.

McNamee, an early investor in Facebook and Google, is co-founder of Silver Lake Partners, one of the world’s largest technology investors.

“An influx of Bangladeshi migrants claiming to be minors has contributed to the government’s recent use of dental exams. From October through March 8, more than 150 Bangladeshis who claimed to be minors and were determined to be adults were transferred from the Office of Refugee Resettlement to ICE custody, according to the agency.

In fiscal year 2018, Border Patrol apprehensions of Bangladeshi migrants went up 109% over the year before, rising to 1,203. Similarly, the number of Bangladeshi minors in ORR custody increased about 221% between fiscal 2017 and fiscal 2018, reaching 392.”

The City began to study the possible use of ground water, drilling wells, cloud seeding, damming smaller streams, spillways, State water, desalinization, towing icebergs, and tankering water. The City had planned to develop and use wells since 1985. Instead, the City chose to exceed the safe annual yield in 1987 and to draw down the surface water supply without conservation measures.

  30. EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Scheer’s office directed Conservative MPs to support motion to scrap justice committee video stream

The NDP motion was adopted unanimously, including support from the committee’s three Conservative MPs.

The Conservative members of parliament who supported an NDP motion to abort a justice committee video stream were directed to vote for the motion by Andrew Scheer’s office.

This information came to me directly from a Conservative source on the condition of anonymity, regarding Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Less than 10 minutes into the meeting during which the committee was about to hear testimony from Mark Steyn, Lindsay Shepherd and John Robson on free speech and online hate, NDP MP Randall Garrison introduced a motion to cancel the video broadcast in progress.

“None of the previous testimony by witnesses has been televised, and so it seems peculiar to me that only the last segment of this would actually be televised by the committee,” the British Columbia MP said before tabling the motion.

All of the justice committee’s hearings have been public. The decision to televise this particular session was sparked by a request from the committee’s Liberal chair, Anthony Housefather, citing significant interest.

Garrison’s motion was adopted unanimously, including support from the committee’s three Conservative MPs, John Brassard, Michael Barrett and Dave MacKenzie.

A whipped vote would suggest the Conservatives had prior knowledge of the motion. The source did not elaborate on the reason for the decision by the Office of the Leader of the Opposition but expressed frustration with it.

I sent two inquiries to Scheer’s spokesperson on Tuesday requesting a rationale for the whipped vote but received no response.

The Conservatives also all abstained from voting on Liberal MP Randy Boissonnault’s motion to purge from the record comments made last week by former justice committee vice-chair Michael Cooper, who was removed from the post by Scheer for those remarks.

A representative of Scheer’s office was present at the Tuesday morning meeting.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States is pursuing the sale of more than $2 billion worth of tanks and weapons to Taiwan, four people familiar with the negotiations said, sparking anger from Beijing which is already involved in an escalating trade war with Washington.

An informal notification of the proposed sale has been sent to the U.S. Congress, the four sources said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the possible deal.

  32. State AG sued for using Bloomberg-funded law group to pursue anti-Trump, anti-oil climate agenda
By Daily Caller News Foundation June 6, 2019

A Virginia-based law firm sued Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey Monday for using attorneys financed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to engage in a climate crusade against Exxon Mobil.

Government Accountability & Oversight (GAO) filed the lawsuit against Healey for using two privately funded attorneys to focus on prosecuting oil and gas companies. The attorneys are paid through a $6 million grant from Bloomberg and have ties to the anti-Exxon campaign.

GAO, which is filing on behalf of Energy Policy Advocates (EPA), is seeking correspondence and documentation of the hiring and work of these attorneys. Healey, a Democrat, is a critic of President Donald Trump and has promised her constituents that she will work to prevent the president from opening up coasts for oil and gas drilling.

  34. Record company exec fantasizes about murdering young Trump supporter who raised $22K for border wall
By Joe Newby June 5, 2019

On Monday, Fox 4 reported that 7-year-old Benton Stevens from Texas had raised $22,000 for the construction of a border wall between the United States and Mexico by selling hot chocolate stand from a sidewalk stand. He plans to continue his work with a lemonade stand over the summer.

It’s reasonable that some, even on the Right, might view this as another case of exploitation — of a young child parroting what he heard parents or other adults in his midst saying. But Zachary Fox, the founder of the fittingly named Awful Records, wasn’t merely irritated by the story. He was “triggered” to the point where he posted a tweet with a split image that showed the young man’s stand on one side and a speeding car bearing down on the boy and his stand on the other.

His followers apparently liked the idea of murdering the child, as the tweet has garnered over 90,000 likes as of this writing.
