Over 16 thousand children disappeared from asylum centers in the Netherlands over the past 4.5 years, NRC reports based on figures from the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers COA and Nidos, the organization that has custody of all unaccompanied foreign minors in the Netherlands. These kids left the asylum centers and their current whereabouts are unknown, the newspaper writes.
According to the two organizations, some of the missing children left to join family or friends in Germany, Belgium or France. But there are also signals that missing child asylum seekers end up in situations where they are exploited. Nidos and the COA told NRC that it is “always worrying” when a child disappears from a shelter. “Every child is one too many”, Nidos director Tim Verstegen said to the newspaper.
The largest group of missing child asylum seekers come from Morocco, 325, followed by 190 children from Algeria, 167 from Afghanistan, and 114 each from Syria and Eritrea. The first three countries are considered “safe”, which means that asylum seekers from there stand little chance of getting refugee status in the Netherlands. But asylum seekers from Syria and Eritrea are almost always given a residency permit.
The group of children who disappear from the asylum process is likely even larger, according to NRC. The foreigners police in Rotterdam regularly find foreign minors, who are put on a taxi and sent to the reception center in Ter Apel to start their asylum procedure. But not all children actually report to the reception center, a police officer said to the newspaper. They are dropped off at the center’s door, but don’t go inside or leave again a few hours later, before being assigned a guardian.
Earlier this year the National Rapporteur on Human Trafficking Herman Bolhaar called on the government to do more to find and protect children who disappear from asylum centers.

Last night, Google reported several issues with its Cloud Platform, which made several Google sites slow or inoperable. Because of this, many of Google’s sites and services–including Gmail, G Suite, and YouTube–were slow or completely down for users in the U.S. and Europe.
However, the Google Cloud outage also affected third-party apps and services that use Google Cloud space for hosting. Affected third-party apps and services include Discord, Snapchat, and even Apple’s iCloud services.
But an especially annoying side effect of Google Cloud’s downtime was that Nest-branded smart home products for some users just failed to work. According to reports from Twitter, many people were unable to use their Nest thermostats, Nest smart locks, and Nest cameras during the downtime. This essentially meant that because of a cloud storage outage, people were prevented from getting inside their homes, using their AC, and monitoring their babies.

The Music#MeToo foundation is taking a number of Dutch rappers, their management and record labels to court in an attempt to tackle misogyny in the Dutch hip-hop world. The foundation, which was established in February, is not so much bothered about the rappers’ misogynistic lyrics, but by their behavior, AD reports.
The foundation referred to rapper Boef calling women ‘kechs’, which means ‘whores’, in a Snapchat video last year and Frenna being convicted in Suriname for having sex with a minor and filming it. Music#MeToo submitted a request for a preliminary witness hearing against Ali B’s management agency Spec, record label Top Notch, and American music company Warner Music Group.
If the court agrees to this hearing, it will then be assessed whether a civil lawsuit can be filed.
According to the foundation, they want to stop “unwanted sexualization and sexual abuse within the music industry”. The chairman decided on this action after her daughter was assaulted at an office party where hip hop was playing, according to the newspaper. The Public Prosecutor is investigating this incident.

Twitter temporarily suspended the account of PVV leader Geert Wilders, due to a tweet he posted about the D66, according to screenshots tweeted by other PVV members. The company informed the anti-Islam, populist politician that he violated their “rules against hateful conduct”.
Wilders is outraged. “Unbelievable, a Twitter block for criticizing [D66 leader Rob] Jetten”, Wilders said to NOS. “Temporarily with the threat added that it can be made permanent. Senders of death threats to me are often tolerated by Twitter, but a factual tweet from me about a colleague is not. Madness.”
The tweet in question has since been removed from Wilders’ account. According to NOS, this may have been one of Twitter’s requirements to get the account reactivated.

ARRIAGA, Mexico — They gathered at dawn in this railyard in southern Mexico, contemplating their next move: catching a ride on the roof of La Bestia (the Beast) — the name migrants use for the notorious freight train that winds its way through Mexico toward the United States.
“Climbing on the top looks very difficult, especially with the kids,” said a dubious Carlos Onan Galo Perez, who had traveled from Honduras with his wife and their three children. “I’m worried.”
He had heard about the dangers: the criminal mobs that terrorize travelers, the risk of falling and losing an arm or leg, or worse. Mexican police recently reported that “delinquents” tossed several migrants from La Bestia in the state of Veracruz, leaving one dead and two with severed limbs.

China releases official document blaming the U.S. for the trade war

China recently released an official document blaming the U.S. for the escalating trade war. In the report, which was delivered at a news conference Sunday morning, Beijing argued the trade dispute is negatively affecting the world.
China states it will not back down to “major issues of principle.” The country accused the U.S. of backtracking three times during trade negotiations by introducing new tariffs and other conditions beyond what was agreed on. It also claimed the U.S. is an untrustworthy negotiator, and that the Chinese government wants talks that are equal, mutually beneficial and trustworthy.
Beijing allegedly backed out from basically all negotiating points during talks with the U.S. several weeks ago. However, China’s Commerce Ministry said U.S. actions are the primary reason for the lack of progress in negotiations.

On Thursday, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, signed a measure into law that would ban abortion in his state once a heartbeat is detectable with no exceptions for rape or incest. This didn’t sit too well with Sen. Cory “Spartacus” Booker, who issued a tweet about “Democratic values.”
“At a time when Republicans across the country are mounting a coordinated, all-out attack on women’s reproductive freedoms, it’s unconscionable that someone in our own party would contribute. Democratic leadership should reflect Democratic values,” he wrote.

Islamist Child Bride Scandal in Philadelphia Grows
The scandal involving a child bride at a radical Philadelphia mosque is just the tip of the iceberg, according to Clarion Intelligence Network sources aware of the investigations into the underage marriages that have taken place for years in the area.
Last March, the victim, who was married at age 14 and is now 17, came forward with allegations of sexual assault against her husband. In a public video posted on Facebook, the young girl said both she and her 10-year old sister were sexually abused by her husband, Rajmann Sanders, shortly after her marriage.
Sanders was charged with rape, indecent assault and forcible compulsion, among other charges. He is even accused of threatening to shoot one girl after assaulting her.
Even though he is behind bars, the victims have been placed in protective custody.
The girl’s marriage to Sanders was her second marriage, as the first one didn’t work out.
The mosque in question, Masjid Uthman Dan Fodiyo, is connected to other extremist mosques and organizations.
The sources say that the weddings for the child marriages that took place at Masjid Uthman Dan Fodiyo are< facilitated by an informal network of extremists that extends beyond the mosque’s congregation. The sources say that Islamist men seeking to marry girls traveled from hours away.
The imam of the mosque was directly involved in scheduling and officiating the marriages for years, the sources say.
More and more Muslims from the community are sharing their stories with other Muslims outside of the Philadelphia area after the above story broke.
Multiple accounts reviewed by Clarion Intelligence Network sources confirm that there was widespread awareness of the underage marriages, polygamy and spousal abuse by members of the Masjid Uthman Dan Fodiyo and related mosques, including those with leadership positions.
Some former members of the mosque made vague social media postings about “what happens in that place,” declining to go into detail but confirming they were disturbed by whatever they experienced there.
One testimony shared with a source recounted how one teacher at Masjid Uthman Dan Fodiyo had three wives and forced one of his wives to quit her job and instead apply for welfare and housing assistance.
The first-person account stated:
“They often stressed to parents, mostly mothers, to marry off their daughters at age 14 and up so they do not go out and fornicate and become pregnant. Then he would give words from Quran, Hadith and their African scholars about how they married young and the community prospered because they were following Allah’s commands. This bothered many women because many of them were sexually abused as children … The imam often mentioned that all the girls in the community should be married off.”
In some cases, a man would ask his first and/or second wife help him find a young virgin to marry because that’s what Mohammed did.
Wives who would not agree to the man’s sexual demands would sometimes be threatened with physical abuse as “discipline” or divorce and abandonment.
After the child bride scandal erupted in March, the police conducted a search of the mosque, where the wedding took place, and the imam’s home.
Clarion Intelligence Network sources confirmed not only that such marriages have taken place for years, but participants included others besides the mosque’s attendees. Men seeking to marry girls were referred to the mosque.
The 17-year old victim faulted the mosque leadership for covering up the child abuse.
“The 10-year-old was not handled correctly and everything was swept under the rug. Not only was it wrong, it was wrong to me because at the time I was still his wife,” she said in the video.
She made it clear that there’s a bigger problem in the community she comes from.
“This is not healthy for me or my kids. No one should want their kids around this, especially with the pedophilia, that should be enough to say no I don’t want my kids around this,” she said.

“The Washington-based Institute of Turkish Studies (ITS) on Saturday announced that the board of directors had decided to cease operations as of September 2020, citing financial problems arising from a withdrawal of funding from the Turkish government.
“As many are aware, the Turkish government-initiated trust that provided income to support these ITS grant-giving and other activities was terminated in late 2015. Since that time, the Board has worked to secure new sources of funding from private donors,” the statement issued by the institution reads.
Established in 1983 at the initiative of the Turkish government, ITS helped to create substantial literature in Turkish and Ottoman studies.
“Over 130 dissertation writing grants translated into 70-plus professorial positions at American institutions of higher education, and language and research awards helped prepare at least 235 others who took up teaching and research positions in the United States and elsewhere,” the statement said.
The institute also thanked its private donors, such as Georgetown University, Koç Holding, FIBA Holding, Mr. and Mrs. Muhtar Kent and other individuals.
“Despite this backing, our efforts to develop a sustainable financial future for ITS have not been as successful as we would like,” it added.
The director of the institution, Dr. Sinan Ciddi, posted the statement on Twitter with a note on it: “Sad but true, please read.””

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch announced Monday it received 218 pages of Strzok-Page emails which show FBI counsel James Baker instructing FBI officials to expedite the release of FBI probe material to Hillary Clinton’s lawyer in August of 2016.
Hillary’s lawyer, David Kendall and FBI counsel James Baker discussed quickly obtaining the “302” report of the FBI/DOJ interview of Clinton.
FD-302 reports are notes FBI officials take to summarize interviews they conduct with an individual.
The Strzok-Page emails also show the FBI failed to document at least four interviews of witnesses in the Clinton email probe.
Remember, this was happening at the same time Strzok launched “Crossfire Hurricane” to investigate Trump-Russia.

A man was killed in a shooting incident in the Utrecht neighborhood of Lombok on Thursday evening. The perpetrators are at large. This was the second shooting in Lombok this week. On Wednesday morning, a fish shop on Laan van Nieuw Guinea and a building on the nearby Moskeeplein were shot at.
The shooting on Thursday night happened at around 9:20 p.m. on Kanaalstraat, near Soendastraat, NU.nl reports. The victim died at the scene.
The police cordoned off Kanaalstraat from Ouderijnbrug to Pieter Bonthstraat for investigation. A police helicopter was spotted surveying the scene from above.
So far little is known about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. It is also not clear whether there is a connection with the shootings on Wednesday morning.

“The Kurdish administration in northeast Syria on Monday, June 3 handed over five orphans from a family who joined Islamic State to Norwegian authorities, a spokesperson said.

“Islamic State militants conducted multiple attacks on military bases in northeast Nigeria’s Borno state over the weekend, security sources told AFP on Monday, June 3.
Fighters believed to be from the Islamic State West Africa Province faction of Boko Haram attacked military bases on Saturday and Sunday, sources from the military and militia said. There were no immediate details on casualties.
Since July last year, ISWAP has intensified attacks on military targets, killing dozens of soldiers and overrunning bases mainly in Lake Chad region in Nigeria, Chad and Niger where it is the dominant insurgent group.
On Saturday, ISWAP fighters attacked a base in the town of Marte, around 90 km (56 miles) northeast of Borno state capital Maiduguri, pushing troops out after a prolonged gunfight, the two military sources said.
The militants ransacked and burned the base, carting away weapons abandoned by fleeing soldiers. The soldiers withdrew to Dikwa, around 38 km south, and Marte residents fled to Maiduguri, arriving in trucks on Sunday, according to residents of the city.
“The insurgents seem not to have intended harming any civilian, but only to capture the town; so they stormed the military base, taking troops there unawares at about 6 p.m.,” an unnamed source told Daily Trust…”

The Metropolitan police said officers was called to a mosque in Hayes Road, Southall, in the early hours of Monday. The force had received reports of a man armed with a hammer shortly after 4.30am.
“A 38-year-old man is reported to have attempted to attack people,” the Met said, the Guardian reported.
“He was detained by worshippers prior to police arrival. He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and is in custody at a west London police station.”
No injuries were reported and the incident was not being treated as terror-related, the force said.
“It is believed the man may have been involved in a dispute with people who he believed to have been attendees from the mosque the previous day,” police said.
Officers remained at the scene on Monday morning as an investigation took place.”
