An International Crisis Group (ICG) analyst said he fears that the Easter Sunday Muslim terrorist bombings in Sri Lanka that killed 321 people will inspire anti-Muslim violence.
Alan Keenan, the ICG’s Sri Lanka senior analyst, claimed that the Islamic terrorist bombings that targeted three churches and three hotels on Easter could galvanize radical Buddhists in Sri Lanka to retaliate in violence against Muslim citizens, as militant Buddhist groups have cultivated anti-Muslim sentiment in the country in recent years. Keenan fears the attacks will serve as confirmation in the minds of Sri Lankans that Muslims pose a threat to their society, as militant Buddhists claim.
“This sentiment has been developing over the last five years, cultivated by radical militant groups of Buddhists including some monks,” Keenan told LBC. “That has led already to major rioting last year and rioting in 2014, where Muslim shops, homes and mosques were burned out and a few people died in each incident.”
“This will be seen as evidence that the fears and warnings of Muslim extremism, that these groups have been saying which previously had no evidence to back them up, are in fact true,” he added. “That’s a very dangerous development and I’m afraid that if strong action isn’t taken and the right messages aren’t sent by government leaders and religious leaders of all groups, there’s a real possibility of further violence.”
Keenan also noted that while militant Buddhists have attacked Christian churches in the past, the Christian community in Sri Lanka likely feel they are in greater danger, as they now face threats from militant groups of two faiths where once they stood in relative solidarity with Sri Lanka’s Muslims.
“Previously, when Christian churches have been attacked, which they have been regularly in fact, it has been by militant Buddhists. So Christians now no doubt feel under assault from multiple parties,” Keenan said.
“One of the striking things of the past few years has been solidarity between evangelicals Christians in Sri Lanka and Muslims, precisely because both have been targeted by violent attacks in the name of defending Buddhism. What these attacks will do to that relationship is also a big question.”

“The Christian Democrats always take the child’s side. It’s never the children’s fault, regardless of whether their parents are alive or not”, party leader Olaug Bollestad told NRK. According to her, the Norwegian government must take responsibility for all of the jihadi offspring.
Her party colleague Minister of Children and Family Kjell Ingolf Ropstad supported Solberg, but reiterated that all the children must be ultimately taken home.
According to estimations by the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) at least 30 jihadists and 40 “Daesh children” with a Norwegian affiliation remain stranded in Syria.
The future of jihadists, their wives and children has long been a stumbling block for the Norwegian government. While the Progress Party and the Conservatives have been reluctant to actively help them return, the junior parties, the Liberals and the Christian Democrats, have been calling on the government to step up measures to help them.
Previously, terrorism researchers, including Magnus Ranstorp of the Swedish National Defence College, stressed that the terrorists remaining in the Middle East belong the most hardened and dangerous variety. Ranstorp also stressed that “Daesh brides” and “Daesh children” are dangerous as well and shouldn’t be portrayed as victims.

Admiral Lord Alan West, former First Sea Lord, has spoken out after a British maritime museum has begun referring to ships it exhibits as “it” in a bid to appear more gender neutral.
In a rare move, BBC Radio 4’s today programme took a call from a listener, Lord West, after he was so incensed by the news that he rang the show.
He said that the move is “stark staring bonkers” and “political correctness gone mad”, adding: “It’s a sort of insult to generations of sailors, the ships are seen almost as a mother to preserve us from the dangers of the sea and also from the violence of the enemy. France’s recognition of the massacre as a genocide was enshrined in law in 2001, following a lengthy struggle that has strained relations with Turkey, however now Macron has moved it to the forefront of French political life.
Armenia and Turkey have been at odds for decades over whether the World War I killings and deportations – which Armenia says left 1.5 million dead – should be described as genocide.
Historians regard the mass killings of Armenians a century ago as the first genocide of the 20th century. Turkey rejects the term ‘Armenian genocide’ as inflammatory, contending that those who died were victims of civil war, and has repeatedly suggested the numbers of deaths were fabricated and exaggerated.
Macron’s announcement in February that France would officially commemorate the slaughter drew an angry response from Ankara, with a spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan angrily declaring: “No one can sully our history.”
Last week Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu chided France during a tense exchange of words with a French parliamentarian at a NATO meeting in Turkey.
Cavusoglu said: “France is the last country to teach Turkey a lesson on genocide and history. We haven’t forgotten what happened in Rwanda and Algeria.”
French lawmaker Sonia Krimi and the French delegation left the room in protest over Cavusoglu’s remarks.
“When the arrogant @MevlutCavusolgu gives you lessons on arrogance and politeness, arrogantly and without any respect,” she wrote on Twitter referring to the incident.
Turkey’s presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin hit back posting on Twitter a story from state news agency Anadolu about “dark stains in French history.”
“Neither their colonial past nor their self-centred present guarantees their moral superiority,” he wrote.”

“A 26-year-old Senegalese migrant was arrested after attacking a pair of Italian police officers with an iron bar in the city of Turin while allegedly yelling “Allahu Akbar” as he attacked them.
The 26-year-old was later identified as illegal Senegalese migrant Ndiaye Migui who attacked the two police officers over the weekend along the via Cuneo wounding the two officers, with one suffering trauma to the head and the other injuries to his hand as a result of the attack, Il Giornale reports.
The newspaper also added that the incident is not the first time the 26-year-old has been in trouble with Italian police. He is said to have committed a similar attack in late March against a different police officer in the same area, which is in close proximity to the makeshift shack where he is said to have been living.
Following the March attack, the local prosecutor pushed for the release of Migui, despite officers demanding that he remain in jail. The prosecutor later released the Senegalese national despite the fact he had already had two deportation notices given prior demanding that he leave Italy.
Italian Union of Police Officers (SIAP) national secretary Pietro Di Lorenzo commented on the growing trend of violence toward police officers saying, “In recent weeks there has been a crescendo of violence that must worry everyone. It is not acceptable in any way to grant hospitality and protection to those who could kill a common citizen or a policeman.”
He then went on to label the attack, “an indication of an absolute lack of fear and respect for the police.”
The attack follows other similar attacks by migrants toward police, including an incident in 2017 that saw Guinean migrant Saidou Mamoud Diallo attempt to attack officers with a knife. After the attack, the migrant shouted “I want to die for Allah” as he was being escorted into custody.
Another incident occurred last year when police in Pisa were attacked by a Senegalese migrant gang during an attempt to seize counterfeit items being sold on the street. Several police officers were hospitalised as a result of the migrant attack and populist Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini to comment saying, “expulsions for illegal immigrants and restoring a climate of legality to our cities is my goal.””

“Afghan and international forces were responsible for more civilian deaths in the first three months of 2019 than the Taliban and other militants, a new U.N. report said Wednesday. It marks the first time in recent years that civilian deaths attributed to government forces and their allies exceeded those blamed on their enemies.
The statistics reflects what many say is a growing problem in Afghanistan’s brutal war, in which civilians die not only in suicide bombings and insurgent attacks but also in the cross-fire as Afghan forces and international allies pursue militants.
The U.N. Assistance Mission in Afghanistan reported Wednesday that 581 civilians were killed between Jan. 1 and March 31, with Afghan forces and their allies responsible for 305 of those deaths. The insurgents were responsible for wounding more civilians than the coalition forces, the report said.
Nearly half of the civilian deaths attributed to Afghan forces and their allies occurred during airstrikes, while some of the other civilians were killed during searches and raids of militant hideouts. U.S. forces carry out airstrikes when called to assist Afghan forces.
More than 50% of the civilians killed were women and children, said Richard Bennett, UNAMA’s human rights director.
“These tactics have resulted in a high proportion of deaths of civilians,” raising U.N. concerns, he said, referring to airstrikes and search operations.
“Every death, every injury is a tragedy for civilians,” said Bennett. “This remains an intense conflict and there are way too many civilians being killed and injured by all parties.”
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani earlier this year urged his ground forces to take greater care to protect civilian lives while conducting search operations.
The resurgent Taliban, who now control nearly half the country, have also asked their fighters to avoid civilian casualties in their near-daily attacks on government forces.
U.S. military spokesman Col. Dave Butler said a cease-fire would be the “best way to end the suffering of non-combatants.”
But the Taliban have refused to negotiate directly with Ghani’s government, even as they hold talks with a U.S. peace envoy. Talks that were to start last week in Qatar with the Taliban and an array of prominent Afghans, including government officials and opposition representatives, were scuttled after a falling-out between the two sides over who should attend.

Islamic State fighters first appeared in eastern Afghanistan in around 2014 and have battled the Taliban as well as government and foreign forces.
The Afghan affiliate of Islamic State, sometimes known as Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K), after an old name for the region that includes Afghanistan, has made some inroads into other areas, in the north in particular.
It has also established a reputation for unusual cruelty, even by the standards of the Afghan conflict, and has been behind some of the deadliest attacks in urban centres.
While Nangarhar, on the border with Pakistan, has been an Islamic State stronghold, some villages in Khogyani and Shirzad districts have been controlled by the Taliban.

Sri Lanka blasts: Two Colombo suicide bombers identified as millionaire businessman’s sons, say intel sources
New Delhi: Till Easter Sunday morning, Mohammed Yusuf Ibrahim was among the pillars of Sri Lanka’s business community: a respected spice trader, and a leading figure in the Left-leaning Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna party, Ibrahim counted minister for industry and commerce Rishath Bathiudeen among his close friends, and had often been seen at former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s receptions.
His life changed that morning, when his oldest sons — 33-year-old Inshaf Ahmed Ibrahim and 31-year-old Ilham Ahmed Ibrahim — left the family’s three-storey luxury home in Dematagoda and blew themselves up at the Cinnamon Grand and Shangri-La hotels’ breakfast buffets.
The brothers, Indian intelligence sources familiar with the case have told Firstpost, are believed to have entered the hotels’ breakfast buffets carrying identical explosives-packed bags, which they detonated at almost exactly the same time.
Investigators, the sources said, believe a third member of the group carried out a similar strike on the nearby Kingsbury Hotel, while a fourth suicide bomber blew himself up near the Shangri-La hotel, when confronted by police.
News that members of an elite Sri Lanka family may have been involved in the suicide bombings comes even as the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, saying “it targeted members of the United States-led coalition and Christians in Sri Lanka”.

Three hundred and twenty-one people are now officially confirmed to have died in the Easter bombings, which also left over 500 injured.
Efforts by Firstpost to contact the Ibrahim family, through an email listed on a Sri Lankan commerce website, did not elicit a response.
Sri Lanka has declared a state of emergency and launched a desperate hunt to head off more attacks.
Few leads
Few real leads have emerged on what drove the brothers’ radicalisation, but police are now questioning Ibrahim and his third son, 30-year-old Ijas Ahmed Ibrahim, to learn how much they knew about their activities. The third floor of the family home, the sources said, appeared to have been booby-trapped with explosive devices which killed three police officers during a search.
From Ismail Ahmed Ibrahim, the family’s fugitive youngest son, investigators hope to be able to gather information on training camps run for the Easter attackers at a remote compound in Wanathawilluwa, as well as the precise nature of its motivation and links to transnational jihadist networks.
Early this year, police seized stockpiles of explosives, detonators and ammunition from the compound for bombing historic Buddhist monuments in the ancient city of Anuradhapura.
Ismail Ibrahim and other men trained at Wanathawilluwa played a role in attacks late last year to destroy Buddhist shrines and Church crosses, sources close to the investigation say. In March, they assassinated Mohamed Razak Taslim, secretary to highways minister Kabir Hashim, an outspoken critic of Islamists.
Less than 10 days before the attacks, Firstpost had reported on Monday that Sri Lanka police had circulated warnings, generated by India’s Research and Analysis Wing, about imminent suicide strikes against “popular Catholic churches and the Indian High Commission”.
The RAW warning, which sources say originated with the interrogation of an Islamist held by the Tamil Nadu Police, named Zahran Hashmi as the leader of the cell. It also provided locations of Hashmi’s younger brother and key operative Rilwan Hashmi and former Sri Lanka army soldier Badrudeen Mohammed Mohiudeen.
Founded as a franchise of the Tamil Nadu Tauhid Jama’at — a legal social service organisation of the religious right — Hashmi’s Tawhid Jama’at also built itself around protesting against real and perceived Muslim grievances. For example, Tawhid Jama’at also organised marches against the oppression of Myanmar’s Rohingya as well as Sri Lanka’s Buddhist-nationalist religious right wing.
Even though Hashmi had sworn loyalty to Islamic State three years ago, local authorities saw him as a publicity-hungry small-time politician on the make, cashing in on Muslim resentment.
Islamic State links
Hashmi and the Ibrahim brothers were, intelligence sources say, in fact at the heart of Islamist circles in Sri Lanka who sent at least 36 people into the Islamic State in Syria — most prominent among them Mohammad Muhsin Nilam, who was killed near Raqqa in a 2015 air strike. Even after Nilam’s death, Hashmi maintained contact with Sri Lankans in Syria using encrypted online chat.
Intelligence officials in India believe the Sri Lanka jihad cell also maintained contacts with Islamic State veterans from Bangladesh and Maldives, though it remains unclear what degree of contact they had with the jihadist group’s leadership in West Asia.
“This was a cell that was inspired by the Islamic State and its message,” says one Indian intelligence official familiar with the case. “It’s likely, though, that its actual operations were driven by regional networks, not the Islamic State’s central leadership.”
The Tawhid Jama’at, interestingly, showed no signs of being drawn to violence until 2018, beyond involvement in some small-scale clashes with traditionalist Muslim organisations opposed to its politics….

Russia unveiled one of its nuclear superweapons on Tuesday launching its first submarine capable of firing high-speed underwater drones armed with massive nuclear warheads.
The first Project 09852 submarine described as the “special purpose” nuclear powered Belgorod vessel was launched from Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk in northern Russia, the government news outlet TASS reported.
The report included a photograph of a large underwater vessel with a twin tail and wings.
According to the report, the submarine will be armed with six nuclear drones that have been labeled Kanyon by the Pentagon and Poseidon by the Russians.

The Pentagon is Investing in Space Robots to Repair Satellites
The robots would service military, government and commercial spacecraft more than 22,000 miles above the Earth.
The Pentagon’s research office wants to send robots into space to inspect and repair the nation’s satellites.
Today the U.S. has more than 400 military, government and commercial satellites circling the globe in geosynchronous Earth orbit, or GEO, a celestial path about 22,000 miles above the ground. These high-altitude satellites are ideal for telecommunications, meteorology and certain military applications, but when they break down, it’s nearly impossible to fix something far out in the cosmos.
Enter space robots.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency believes space-based robots offer the best bet for inspecting and repairing high-altitude satellites, especially with the number of satellites set to skyrocket due to a budding Space Force and federal agencies and industry ramping up operations in outer space.
Under the Robotic Servicing of Geosynchronous Satellites program, DARPA will partner with teams to build both robots that can maintain and upgrade satellites, as well as the spacecraft to move the bots through space. Once deployed, the tech would periodically check in on different satellites and service them as needed.
Because today’s high-altitude satellites are so difficult to repair, they’re often built with numerous backup systems to take over when something malfunctions, which adds weight, cost and complexity, according to DARPA. But if robots could perform repairs, satellites would likely become both cheaper and more reliable in the near future.

Border Patrol finds abandoned toddler with phone number on his shoes
Agents have taken the 3-year-old boy to a U.S. border station and are trying to find his parents using the number written on his shoes, officials said.
WASHINGTON — U.S. Border Patrol agents found a 3-year-old migrant alone in a cornfield at the border between Mexico and Texas on Tuesday morning, according to Customs and Border Protection officials.
The boy, who was crying when agents found him in the Rio Grande Valley near Brownsville, Texas, was identified only by a phone number and his name written on his shoes, the officials said.

Mexican officials refuse to sign accord after 300K migrants arrive in 3 months
Mexico’s Interior Minister –Olga Sanchez — is shedding light on the state of the migrant crisis.
“It’s estimated that in the first three-months of the year around 300,000 migrants have crossed Mexico to reach the United States in an irregular fashion,” she stated. “Yes, there has been a change in the flow of migrants entering our country on a permanent basis.”
President Trump has made it a priority to stem this flow of migrants across the southern border. The White House wants asylum seekers who arrive at Mexico’s U.S. land border to apply to stay in Mexico or, in other words, request protection from the first safe country they encounter.
“Throughout all stages of the transition (in the current government), we will not accept an agreement for being a safe third-country,” announced Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard. “This is Mexico’s clear position and this idea (for such an agreement), I don’t know who planted it, but we will not accept it — we do not agree on that.”
The foreign minister has repeatedly expressed opposition to becoming a third-party nation for migrants seeking U.S. asylum, the majority of which are running from gang violence and poverty.

First major drug distribution company criminally charged in opioid crisis

The former head of a drug distributor is indicted on what federal prosecutors say are the first criminal charges brought against a company executive as a result of the opioid crisis.
The indictment, unsealed Tuesday, is alleging former Rochester Drug Co-Operative CEO Laurence Doud III ordered workers to ignore red flags about certain pharmacy customers. The indictment is claiming Doud did that to maximize company revenues and his own pay, which more than doubled between 2012 and 2016 as the company’s sales of drugs like oxycodone and fentanyl skyrocketed.

Picture emerges of well-to-do young bombers behind Sri Lankan carnage
COLOMBO (Reuters) – Details began to emerge in Sri Lanka on Wednesday of a band of nine, well-educated Islamist suicide bombers, including a woman, from well-to-do families who slaughtered 359 people in Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

DONALD Trump has accused the UK of helping the Obama administration SPY on him during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The US President made the sensational claim in a tweet today, quoting the right-wing conspiracy-peddling website One America News Network.
It cited a former CIA analyst who accused UK agencies of helping the Obama Administration spy on Trump election campaign.
The president added: “WOW! It is now just a question of time before the truth comes out, and when it does, it will be a beauty!”
The bizarre accusation comes just days after it was revealed Trump would be undertaking a state visit this summer.
It may be he is hoping to ramp up tensions ahead of the visit in a bid to improve his leverage in any political discussions which may take place.
However, the accusation actually dates back to at least 2017 and has been denied by both the Obama administration and MI6.
A British security official was quoted by Reuters as saying the accusation was “totally untrue and quite frankly, absurd.”
STATE VISIT
Meanwhile, Donald and Melania will not stay at Buckingham Palace during their state visit this summer because the Queen has got the builders in, it’s been claimed.
Royal sources reportedly said the Monarch can’t let the US President stop over as his staff can’t stay in the East Wing as it will be closed during a £365m renovation programme.
Buckingham Palace revealed that the Trumps will visit the UK for three days from June 3rd to the 5th which is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
It comes more than two years after Theresa May first offered the visit when they met in January 2017 at the White House.
However, any hopes of the Republican leader staying over at the Palace have been scuppered.
Sources said the Trumps would have been expected to stay in the palace’s historic Belgian Suite which is still open.
However, it’s reported none of their entourage of aides or staff could be accommodated due to the closure of the East Wing.
The Daily Mail reports there is no suggestion the couple will be offered other royal accommodation which means they will most likely take up residence at Winfield House.
The manor house – which is the palatial London home of the US Ambassador – is where they stayed last summer.
However, royal aides insisted there was no snub intended to the President and First Lady pointing out even the Queen may be forced to leave her official London home during the renovation.
President Trump made a two-day working visit to the UK last July – where he met The Queen and spoke exclusively to The Sun.
He sensationally revealed that a trade deal with the US could be off the table – and criticised her over Brexit talks.
The Sun Online has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment on the claims the Trumps can’t stay at the Palace.

Former CIA and State Department analyst Larry Johnson told One America News reporter Neil W. McCabe that the United Kingdom’s intelligence services spied on the 2016 Trump campaign, and then passed on information to the Obama administration.

In 2002, Shmuel Waldman, an American from New Jersey, was shot while boarding a bus in Israel. The terrorist attack killed 2 people and left 40 injured. Among that 40 was Shmuel whose leg was blown apart, forcing him to undergo multiple surgical procedures, and leaving him suffering from PTSD.
The terrorist who shot him was Said Ramadan, a “police officer” working for the terrorists who run the Palestinian Authority. The attack had been planned by senior Palestinian Authority officials and the Palestinian Authority viewed Ramadan as a hero. Waldman joined other victims of terrorism in a lawsuit against the terrorist group, which is funded by American taxpayers, under the Antiterrorism Act.
Waldman v. PLO resulted in a record award of $655 million in damages against the Palestinian Authority terror network. But the verdict was thrown out because an American court lacked jurisdiction over the terrorist group even though the United States provides much of the cash flow that its terrorists rely on.
The Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act was introduced and approved to make it clear that accepting security assistance for its “police force” would place the Palestinian Authority under judicial jurisdiction for lawsuits such as these. The PA could stop funding terrorism or face lawsuits from its victims.
A ruthless battle was waged against ATCA by a variety of groups which understood that the Palestinian Authority would not stop funding and promoting terrorism under any circumstances. These groups falsely claimed that ATCA would undermine American and Israeli security. That was a blatant lie.

If you think the mainstream media in America are shameless in their devotion to leftist orthodoxy – well, of course you’re right. But there are exceptions: at least some major outlets in the U.S. don’t march in ideological lockstep. Even the New York Times has a good, honest reporter or two. In any event, you don’t have to pay to read these people’s claptrap if you don’t want to.
Imagine, by contrast, living in Norway, where the political left has a total lock on the mainstream news media, and the country’s five million people are forced to pay big time for their non-stop propaganda. TV and radio news are dominated by government-run NRK, to which the sheeple shell out $500 million per annum in compulsory license fees for the privilege of being brainwashed.
Then there’s the print press. In addition to scores of local papers, Norway has about a dozen national dailies, several of which receive generous taxpayer support – supposedly in order to ensure diversity of thought, even though they’re all left-wing. For example, Dagsavisen, a former Labor Party organ that’s now a gaunt rag consisting largely of far-left editorials and columns, sells only 20,000 copies a year while raking in $5 million in state subsidies.
