Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

    • Wow! Just wow! Dave Cullen goes extra innings and tags up at every base. Taking less than ten minutes, this clip is a modern day political Grand Tour from the Hertfordshires in Hellsinki and back. Downhill, both ways. Honest!

      From DNP wet dreams of abolishing the Electoral College to why “one man one vote” (i.e., a “national vote”) would assure the GOP’s permanent ouster from federal government. Which neglects to mention how twelve US states already have consigned their Electoral College votes to this crooked scheme.

      Then, Religious Freedom is mocked when a Catholic journalist’s insistence that her faith prohibits her from recognizing anything but two human sexes is ignored in favor of pressing charges based on long forgotten tweets misgendering someone’s child. But wait! There’s more!

      This finally spirals towards the Finnish line with self- identified age. AGE!!! AGE???

      The subsequent mini-rant about marrying one’s imaginary friend (who deserves full legal rights and the vote) is A MASTERPIECE. What immediately follows makes the Twilight Zone look like a dull day in Mayberry RFD.

      Cullen deftly clears his path through the rubble of smoking media mirrors. His summation is a brilliantly logical extension of Postmodernism’s fluidity to its vanishing point of utter absurdity.

      And it’s not often that I say this, Jeeves … but I haven’t enough hats to take off (mostly because I’m indoors right now, but that’s beside the point).

      Yup. It’s that good.

  9. Provincial elections took place in the Netherlands yesterday, 2 days after the Utrecht shooting. Results are nothing short of a political earthquake, a new, “populist”, anti-immigration party gained 10 seats in the Senate:

    “The governing centre-right coalition in the Netherlands has lost its senate majority after a populist party surged in provincial elections.

    The anti-immigration Forum for Democracy is set to win most votes and have as many seats in the upper house as Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s party.
    The election came two days after a suspected terror attack in Utrecht.

    Addressing supporters, party leader Thierry Baudet bitterly criticised Mr Rutte’s immigration policies.

    “Successive Rutte governments have left our borders wide open, letting in hundreds of thousands of people with cultures completely different to ours,” he told the cheering crowd.

    Mr Baudet, who was criticised for continuing to campaign after Monday’s shooting on a tram, said Dutch people were being “destroyed by the people who are supposed to be protecting us”.

    With about 94% of the vote counted, Forum for Democracy is believed to have won the most votes. Forum for Democracy had no seats in the current 75-seat upper house. It is now set to have 12.

    Mr Rutte will now need the support of other parties beyond his own coalition to pass legislation. The 38 seats previously held by his coalition will now fall to 31.

    • I’ve seen what foreign press is writing now. They claim a causal connection between the Utrecht shooting and the election outcome. It seems they offer nothing to back this up.

      The report claims it’s about the economy, and consumer confidence. Right-wing liberal party VVD is pushing a rather draconian climate-pact, and its costs will be paid for by the voters, not the corporations. FvD’s Thierry Baudet campaigned on this, called global warming a hoax.
      The Utrecht shooting would have boosted the PVV, which has more of an anti-islam platform than the FvD. If it had any effect at all, which I really doubt.
      The take-home message here is to take MSM with a grain of salt, but that’s preaching to the choir. Also, it’s remarkable they all write basically the
      same thing.

      For myself—despite a lifetime of exposure to Oz culture (e.g., Bazza McKenzie books)—Avi Yemini has been an acquired taste. The good news is that I’m acquiring that taste and this clip, by far, is his sweetest.

      In just over seven minutes, Avi takes Aussie media maven Jim Jefferies and shreds him like a masterfully barbecued pig’s ass pork butt.

      A more perfect example of selective editing by the hypocritical Leftist MSM may not come around again anytime soon. More’s the pity that it wasn’t Michael Moore, Hillary Clinton or Occasional-Cortex who was frozen in the headlights of truth.

    “The tax-financed media giant’s increasing use of veiled reporters has triggered strong reactions on social media, with many Swedes interpreting it as a token of “Islamisation” and bolstering the oppression of women.

    For several days in a row, hijab-clad Cheyma Moufid has appeared on national Swedish broadcaster SVT as a reporter for the local news programme in the capital area.

    According to the news outlet Fria Tider, Moufid has been practising at SVT since last autumn.

    This week, Moufid appeared in a series of reports of the poor quality of snow removal in Stockholm, which has led to a lot of complaints and allegedly involves cheating on the part of the authorities. Moufid argued that Stockholm City has no control of snow removal in immigrant areas, such as Rinkeby and Tensta. Both of these are sometimes referred to as “no-go zones” and involve a certain risk even for police personnel.

    On social media, the appearance of a veil-covered woman on TV screens sparked many critical reactions, with some interpreting it as a sign of Sweden becoming more Islamised and others suggesting that SVT supported the oppression of women.

    “Hi, SVT! Why are you marketing garments that oppress women on your own reporters? Also, shouldn’t your employees be free of religious attire? Hardly independent news agency. That’s too bad”, a user tweeted.

    Another user cited SVT’s own guidelines where avoidance of religious symbols is recommended.

    “It is about inclusion! Everyone gets to dress as they please and we have to show off their clothes all the time. Hope they hire a nudist”, a user said on a fun note.

    At the same time, many praised Moufid’s good command of the Swedish language, unlike some previous publicity stunts by SVT.

    Moufid first appeared on Swedish TV last autumn as an intern. Back then, her hijab was also perceived as oppressive to women and sparked negative reactions.

    ?SVT is the Swedish national public television broadcaster; it is funded by a public service tax on personal income and largely modelled after the BBC. By its own admission, it has been putting an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.”

    “UK police said Thursday they were investigating attacks on four mosques in the nation’s second largest city of Birmingham that had their windows smashed overnight.

    “At the moment we don’t know the motive for last night’s attacks… The force and the Counter Terrorism Unit are working side-by-side to find whoever is responsible,” chief constable Dave Thompson was quoted as saying by West Midlands police.

    Police were alerted at 2:32 a.m. on Thursday to reports of a man smashing windows with a sledgehammer at the mosque on Birchfield Road. They arrived within minutes to find that the assault took place some time earlier.

    They were alerted to a similar attack at the mosque on Slade Road less than an hour later. Patrols were stepped up in areas with mosques leading to the discovery of damage at two more places of worship.

    Thompson said police had been working closely with the faith community after last Friday’s gun attacks on two mosques in New Zealand claimed 50 lives. He stressed that officers were doing all they could to bring the perpetrators to justice.

    Commenting on the attacks, UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid said on Twitter it was “deeply concerning” and “distressing” to see a number of mosques vandalized in Birmingham. He stressed that hateful behaviour “has absolutely no place in our society” and will never be accepted.”

      Cllr Majid Mahmood claimed an Islamic girls school had also been attacked and described the incidents as “Islamophobic” hate crimes.

      Nagina Kauser, elected councillor for the Aston ward where the Witton Road mosque is based, said that they needed more security ahead of tomorrow’s Friday prayer services across the city.

      UPDATE: Cllr Majid Mahmood has confirmed the originally reported girls’ school was in fact another mosque, bringing the reported total number of Birmingham mosques attacked to 5.

      Five mosques in Birmingham were targeted by at least one man with a sledgehammer in the early hours of Thursday morning.

      A man reportedly smashed windows at the mosques across the city, which has one of the largest Muslim populations in the UK, as captured on CCTV at the Witton Islamic Centre in Aston at 01:30 GMT .

      The Home Secretary Sajid Javid called the vandalism “deeply concerning and distressing”.

      A Labour Party Councillor, Majid Mahmood, posted footage of the clean up operation on Twitter along with a message: “I said last week that Muslims were afraid after the terrorist attacks in ChristChurch. We need support in Brum [Birmingham].”

    “The Finnish city of Oulu was in late 2018 swept up by a grooming gang scandal, in which migrants and asylum seekers are suspected of sexually assaulting underage girls.

    The first verdict has been handed down in the high-profile grooming gang scandal in the city of Oulu in northern Finland. 44-year-old Tajik immigrant Muso Asoev has been jailed for assaulting an immigrant girl under 10 years old, national broadcaster Yle reported.

    Oulu’s district court sentenced the man to unconditional imprisonment for three years and eight months. The crime was classified as aggravated rape and aggravated sexual exploitation of children. The court said that the trust the child placed in the accused played a pivotal role in the verdict. The punishment was tightened as a result of the confidence that the girl had in the perpetrator, who was be responsible for her religious upbringing. The offences were found to have occurred between summer and autumn last year.

    The court also ordered the man to pay the victim 9,500 euros ($10,775) for distress arising from the offence and an additional 1,500 euros (1,700) for pain, suffering, and other afflictions. The man had no previous criminal record.

    The verdict marks a first in a spate of suspected child sex abuse cases currently under investigation in Oulu, which came to light late last year and has since mushroomed to Helsinki.

    The police said they suspected at least eight men of child abuse committed over a period of several months. The police also believe that procurement of sexual services from minors may be also involved. The newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet previously reported that all the alleged victims were under 15.

    In total, the police are investigating 29 cases, where the suspects include Finnish nationals as well as foreigners, all of whom came to the country as refugees and asylum seekers. The police said that the suspects approached their victims online and speculated that some of the suspects and victims knew each other.

    The grooming gang scandal has earned stern condemnation from the Finnish authorities. While Prime Minister Jula Sipilä expressed “grief and disgust” at the “inhumane and reprehensible” assaults, stressing that everyone who comes to Finland should respect its laws, President Sauli Niinistö called it “unbearable” that people coming as asylum seekers have “brought evil and created insecurity”.

    In early 2019, a citizen’s initiative requiring foreign sex offenders to be expelled from Finland gathered over 50,000 signatures, which makes it eligible for consideration in parliament.”

    “THE Home Office has claimed Christianity is not a religion of peace after turning down a Christian covert’s bid for asylum in an “unbelievably offensive” letter quoting bloodthirsty passages from the Bible.

    The Iranian national was turned down for asylum in 2016, with the Home Office claiming his conversion from Islam was “inconsistent” with his claim Christianity is a peaceful religion. In the rejection letter from the Government department, published by the Iranian’s immigration case worker this week, six passages from the Bible are listed, with a claim made that Revelations is filled with “images of revenge, destruction, death and violence”.
    The letter also uses six examples from searchable online holy book Bible Gateway, and quotes parts of The Book of Leviticus from the Old Testament.

    The full statement below the verses says: “These examples are inconsistent with your claim that you converted to Christianity after discovering it is a peaceful religion, as opposed to Islam which contains violence, rage and revenge.”

    Nathan Stevens, an immigration caseworker, posted excerpts from the letter on his Twitter page, launching into a stinging attack against the Home Office for the “unbelievably offensive diatribe”.

    He wrote: “I’ve seen a lot over the years, but even I was genuinely shocked to read this unbelievably offensive diatribe being used to justify a refusal of asylum.

    “Whatever your views on faith, how can a government official arbitrarily pick bits out of a holy book and then use them to trash someone’s heartfelt reason for coming to a personal decision to follow another faith.”

    In another post on Twitter, Mr Stevens said his client will be appealing the decision and will resubmitting a complaint to the Home Office.

    He referred to text from another rejection letter, and wrote: “You affirmed in your AIR that Jesus is your saviour, but then claimed that He would not be able to save you from the Iranian regime.

    “It is therefore considered that you have no conviction in your faith and your belief in Jesus is half-hearted.”

    Mr Stevens added in a separate post: “Government backs FoRB (Freedom of Religion or Belief) training course for asylum decision-makers – The APPG for International Freedom of Religion or Belief – this is from October 2018 and govt confirmed they would roll this out in the New Year. No evidence of this that I have seen!”

    The content of the letter to the Iranian national has sparked outrage and surprise among experts in the field.

    Legal expert Conor James McKinney, deputy editor of website Free Movement, told MailOnline: “Immigration lawyers often speak of a “culture of disbelief” among the officials that make these life-or-death asylum decisions.

    “This case seems to be an extreme example of an individual official manufacturing a reason to refuse an asylum claim, and the Home Office acknowledges that it was out of line, but those working with asylum seekers do report horror stories almost as bad on a regular basis.”

    Stephen Evans, chief executive of the National Secular Society, hit out at the Home Office for using “theological justifications for refusing asylum applications”.

    He told the Independent: “Decisions on the merits of an asylum appeal should be based on an assessment of the facts at hand – and not on the state’s interpretation of any given religion. It’s not the role of the Home Office to play theologian.”

    The Home Office acknowledged its error, insisting it continues to work closely with key partners to improve its policy guidance and training provided to asylum decision makers”.

    A spokesman said: “This letter is not in accordance with our policy approach to claims based on religious persecution, including conversions to a particular faith.

    “We continue to work closely with key partners, including the APPG on International Freedom of Religion and a range of faith groups, to improve our policy guidance and training provided to asylum decision-makers so that we approach claims involving religious conversion in the appropriate way.””

    “Internal documents reveal that Brussels plans to incorporate the controversial UN migration pact into the EU’s legal framework “through the back door”, Austria and Hungary have warned.

    Earlier this week, Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl told Brussels the government was opposed to a report by the European Commission’s Legal Service declaring that the UN compact should have legally binding consequences for every EU member state including those which withdrew from the agreement. The compact describes mass migration as “inevitable, necessary and desirable”.

    As an increasing number of countries, including a handful of EU member states, began to have doubts about the UN compact in the weeks and months leading up to its signing in December last year, figures including Germany’s Angela Merkel insisted to its opponents that the document was non-binding, while media outlets attacked any suggestion to the contrary as “far-right conspiracy theory”.

    The youngest to have been affected by abuse is said to have been a mere four years old and that most of the abuse came from other young people living in the homes, but some staff have also been alleged to have committed assaults against young residents.

    In one case, a 25-year-old named Amanda said that it was her therapist who had abused her saying, “It is so hard to go into therapy and talk to someone that you have been exposed to by a therapist. No therapy works. It’s the worst thing that happened to me.”

    Lawyer Silvia Ingolfsdottir Åkermark, who specialises in sexual assault cases, expressed outrage at the report saying, “The state is obliged to protect young people who are placed in HVB homes. That is why these homes exist. No one should be subjected to sexual abuse, neither by staff nor by someone with whom they live.”

    The data on the reports was gathered using court documents, filings, complaints, and inspections that took place from 2014 to 2018. Information on verbal sexual harassment was not included.

    Similar sex attacks have also been reported in asylum homes for unaccompanied minor migrants in Sweden including a case in Malmö in February 2016 when a 15-year-old Afghan boy was raped in a field near the asylum centre in which he and the attackers were living.

    Another more recent case saw a 45-year-old female Social Democrat politician accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old asylum seeker at a HVB home in Western Sweden.

    Some, including Moderates MP Hanif Bali, later criticised Swedish broadcaster SVT for not including the fact the 45-year-old had been a local member of the Social Democrats in their report on the story.”

    Halfway through the article, however, the Guardian concedes that, while the security services “have not revealed how many of the 700 or so live terror plots and 20,000 individuals classified as ‘closed subjects’ … are related to right-wing extremism”, MI5 did disclose that such cases are, quote, “absolutely dwarfed by the number of Islamist cases” being dealt with.

    This is the case despite the fact that Britain’s white population, from which white nationalist extremists are presumably likely to recruit, is in excess of 50 million, while the Muslim population, from which Islamist extremists are likely recruiting, is officially only 2.7 million – suggesting the radical Islamism presents a much more potent threat than the far right in terms of its capacity to radicalise people.

    Nevertheless, the British authorities have placed a huge degree of emphasis on tackling the far right since even before Christchurch, with Cabinet minister Amber Rudd warning that people viewing what she described as “far-right propaganda” online could face up to 15 years’ imprisonment under harsh new counter-extremist penalties while she was still at the Home Office.

    The measures drew some criticism from Max Hill QC, then terrorism legislation watchdog, now Director of Public Prosecutions for England and Wales, who warned that the Government should not “criminalise thought without action or preparation for action,” and that “the struggle for national security must not be used as a stick to beat down the rights we hold dear.”

    She was found guilty of taking her daughters, then aged 10 and 13, to her birth country in April 2015 for the procedure, and will have her sentence suspended after eight months, SBS reports.

    Female genital mutilation refers to all procedures involving partial or total removal of or injury to the external female genitalia or genital organs, such as stitching of the labia majora or pricking of the clitoris. It is performed on women and girls at a range of ages, including babies.

    There is no medical reason for the procedure, which can result in infections, shock, bleeding, chronic pain, reproductive issues and death.

    Brisbane District Court Justice Leanne Clare described the mutilation as child abuse, and said the mother, 45, had taken them to Africa in April 2015 for the purpose of having it done.

    “In this case, a woman of unknown ability used a sharp implement to excise the clitoral hood of each girl,” Justice Clare said during sentencing on Thursday.
    “The girls were not sedated, there was bleeding and a period of significant pain for perhaps a number of days, there was obvious risk of infection, even death.”

    The trial heard the girls had no idea the procedure was planned until they were called inside while playing at their grandmother’s house.

    A woman they didn’t recognise carried out the operation on the older girl first, followed by her younger sister.

    Their stepsister tipped off child safety services when they returned to their home south of the state capital Brisbane several months later.

    An Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report, released in February, said the United Nations estimated at least 200 million girls and women had undergone the procedure, with 53,000 of them thought to live in Australia.

    This equates to a rate of 4.3 per 1,000 women and girls in Australia, or 0.4% of Australia’s overall female population.”

    BASEL. Auf dem Heimweg von der Schule in Basel ist am Donnerstag ein siebenjähriger Bub niedergestochen worden. Eine 75-jährige Frau wurde festgenommen.

    Der Bub war alleine auf dem Gehsteig gewesen und plötzlich attackiert worden. Entdeckt wurde der schwer verletzte Schüler von seiner Klassenlehrerin, die sich ebenfalls auf dem Heimweg befand. Die umgehend alarmierten Sanitäter und ein Notarzt versuchten zunächst über längere Zeit, den Buben zu reanimieren.

    Danach wurde er ins Universitäts-Kinderspital bei der Basel gebracht und dort einer Notoperation unterzogen. Kurze Zeit später erlag er jedoch seinen Verletzungen. Nach dem Messerangriff wurde laut der Mitteilung umgehend eine Fahndung eingeleitet. Dabei fiel der Polizei auch eine ältere Frau auf, die sich vom Tatort entfernte. Kurz darauf stellte sich eine 75 Jahre alte Frau bei der Staatsanwaltschaft und sagte, dass sie das Kind angegriffen habe.

    Zum Grund des Angriffs und zum genauen Hergang konnte die Staatsanwaltschaft zunächst keine Angaben machen. Ermittlungen seien im Gange, hieß es. Es wurde ein Zeugenaufruf erlassen.

    Swiss police arrest woman, 75, over fatal stabbing of child

    Police in the northwestern Swiss city of Basel say they have arrested a 75-year-old woman on suspicion of killing a 7-year-old boy in the street.

    Basel police said in a statement that the boy was walking home from school shortly after midday Thursday when he was stabbed. His teacher found the child lying on the ground with serious injuries and called emergency services, but the boy later died in a hospital.

    Authorities said the elderly woman presented herself to prosecutors “and informed them that she had attacked the child.”

    Police said they are still investigating the circumstances and motive for the attack, and are appealing for witnesses.

    The 2020 season is just getting started and the Sanders campaign’s deputy press secretary, an illegal alien, already accused Jews of being disloyal, and Elizabeth Warren issued a statement in defense of Rep. Omar accusing Jews of inventing anti-Semitism accusations to silence criticism of Israel. It’s no coincidence that these overt shows of anti-Semitism are coming from the leftiest figures in the race.

      Instead of condemning the question, imagine if Bobby O’Rourke had been asked if he had taken Islamist money, he awkwardly sidestepped it and then launched into an attack on Israel.

        Horrendous, you say? You’d better believe it. Treating smart phones and mobile devices like an extension of one’s physiological memory invites partial lobotomy at some unspecified future date. The same planned (human) obsolescence is baked into many different modern assistive technologies.

        All the synchs and backups in the world will not prevent a gradual atrophy of key associative and mnemonic skills. Like any healthy muscle, the mind must be exercised and challenged on a routine basis lest a sedentary intellect succumb to early onset dementia: An all too common fate for those who eschew reading in favor of passively watching video—exactly as the MSM would have it.

        Hannibal Lecter’s use of the Memory Palace technique is one prime example of a common disciplinary method to maximize retention of knowledge and wisdom. Ask any seasoned wilderness backpacker about depending upon GPS instead of knowing how to read the trail and terrain (compass optional). In many circumstances, loss of the mobile device itself, or just drained batteries, could cost you your life.

        Researching this reply, I came across an excellent admonition regarding the mental damage done by over-reliance upon technology.

        PS: Although the narrator’s final point about adaptability seemingly downplays the nature of this corrosive trend, she nails it in the last few seconds with a callback to her introductory life-and-death example.

        It’s also a safe bet that—irrespective of whatever contracted fMRI activity profile—book-related information retrieval utilizes much deeper cognitive (i.e., long term memory-based) pattern recognition skills than those used in mentally coordinating online resources to rally that same content.

    And so it begins. With democratic socialism O.G. Bernie Sanders and baby-faced Beto O’Rourke officially running, the race is on for the presidential nomination of my party, the Democrats.

    It’s also over. Not the nomination, but rather the general election. Because the reaction to Sanders’ candidacy especially showcases why Democrats will lose next November.

    By now, we all know Democrats have an uncanny knack for losing winnable elections. And since 2016, when Hillary Clinton blew a double-digit polling lead in less than a month, Democrats have descended even further into dysfunction.

    The problem isn’t policy. It’s pettiness.

    Many conservatives believe Democrats are lurching toward far-left policies like single-payer healthcare, livable wages and free public college education. As a socialist who firmly believes Bernie Sanders would have defeated Donald Trump in 2016, I hope they’re right. Progressive populists are the future of the party; centrist elitists like Hillary Clinton are the past.

    When Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), one of the Democratic Party’s three new stars, was asked in an interview on Showtime’s aptly named “Circus” about why some Democrats were unhappy with the anti-Semitic remarks of her fellow rising star Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), she gave the answer that we will hear again and again as long as she and Omar are in Congress: the problem is “Islamophobia.”

    “Circus” host Alex Wagner asked Tlaib: “Rep. Omar…Why do you think people in your own party reacted so strongly to what she said?”

    Tlaib responded: “You know, I’m trying to figure it out. This past week I feel, and I know this would be somewhat shocking for some, but I think Islamophobia is very much among the Democratic Party as well as the Republican Party. And I know that’s hard for people to hear, but here’s only been four members of Congress that are of Muslim faith. Three of them currently serve in this institution. More of us need to get elected but more of us need to understand as we come into this institution that I have a lot of work to do with my colleagues. ”
