Pulwana terror attack: Four soldiers KILLED in exchange with militants in Kashmir (express, Feb 18, 2019)

“FOUR Indian soldiers have been killed in an overnight encounter with terrorists in north India.
The soldiers were killed in the Pulwama district in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. The exchange occurred late Sunday night after security forces surrounded Pinglena village following a tip-off that militants were hiding in the area. A search operation is now ongoing on the site.
It is believed that one of the victims was an officer.
The police clashed with Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) militants that were in the area.
A police source confirmed to local news: “As the cordon was tightened, the holed-up militants fired triggering the gunfight.”
One civilian was also killed according to local news reports.
The exchange comes less than a week after 49 Central Reserve Police Forces troopers were killed on February 14.
Their convoy was attacked by a JeM on a highway in the Pulwama district.
According to local police forces, last night’s attack was just six miles from the suicide bomber attack.
The fate of the attackers is unknown as Indian forces continue to search the area.
Tensions between Pakistan and India have risen sharply recently followed the initial suicide bombing.
India has demanded that Pakistan “stop supporting” terrorists who use Pakistan as a base.
Pakistan did admit that the suicide attacks were of “grave concern” but has denied any involvement in the attack.
Kashmir has long been a hot point between the two countries with India accusing Pakistan of supporting militants in the region.”

At least nine people were killed during crossfire in Indian-controlled southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, as Indian soldiers conducted raids in the area.
Footage shows flames and smoke rising from a residential building, which Indian authorities claim militants occupied. An Indian military armoured vehicle was filmed rushing towards the battle field.
The dead are reported to include four Indian soldiers, three alleged militants, one civilian and one police officer.
The gun battle erupted just days after more than 42 Indian paramilitary soldiers were killed in a car bomb explosion on February 14.

FBI plotting to keep DNA of ENTIRE population on file to create ‘nation of suspects’
THE FBI is creating a “nation of suspects” by putting every American citizen’s DNA on file, according to shocking claims by a US think tank.
President Donald Trump has signed the Rapid DNA Act into law which means the police can routinely take DNA samples from people who are arrested but not yet convicted of a crime.
The law, which was signed in 2017 and comes into effect this year, will require several states to connect Rapid DNA machines to Codis – the national DNA database controlled by the FBI.
These machines, which are portable and about the same size as a desktop printer, are expected to become as routine a process as taking fingerprints.

Germany: Berlin confirms German IS fighters have right to return home
German citizens that fought or are still fighting for the so-called Islamic State have a fundamental right to return to Germany, a government spokesperson confirmed in Berlin on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference, Interior Ministry spokesperson Stefan Ruwwe-Gloesenkamp added that these people will have to stand trial for their actions abroad.

China data leak exposes vast hi-tech surveillance operation in Xinjiang
Dutch researcher says tracking firm left database of personal details unprotected for months
A Chinese surveillance firm is tracking the movements of more than 2.5 million people in the far-western Xinjiang region, according to a data leak flagged by a Dutch internet expert.
An online database containing names, ID card numbers, birth dates and location data was left unprotected for months by Shenzhen-based facial-recognition technology firm SenseNets Technology, according to Victor Gevers, co-founder of non-profit organisation GDI.Foundation, who first noted the vulnerability in a series of social media posts last week.
Exposed data also showed about 6.7 million location data points linked to the people which were gathered within 24 hours, tagged with descriptions such as “mosque”, “hotel”, “internet cafe” and other places where surveillance cameras were likely to be found.

For the last few days there has been a concerted push by Google to age-restrict dozens of videos on Vlad’s channel, some of them years old. He also got a “community guidelines” strike, which is more serious. When the second such strike came in early this morning, YouTube pulled his channel.
We don’t know what caused this sudden wave of persecution. His videos have become more popular lately, and have been embedded at several major sites, so that may be part of the reason — he grew so tall that his head had to be cut off.
Anyway, for many months everything he has posted on YouTube has been mirrored on his BitChute channel. On Saturday, I put up a thought piece about the existential stakes in the border-security/national-emergency debate. It was necessary to do that, to establish the basis on which the following assessment is made.
The baseline assessment is very brief, as there is no need to make it longer. Trump declared a national emergency because he intends to keep fighting for his goal – border security – and declaring the emergency was the option he had to keep fighting.
Notice I didn’t say “the option to win.” I said “the option to keep fighting.”
As the conditions have been shaped for him at this decision point, Trump couldn’t win (achieve his goal) with any action he took. But he could keep fighting, rather than taking a defeat. He chose to keep fighting.

To a large extent he is in a position where thanks to the Rino’s in the Senate he can’t win a legislative fight with Pelosi and the Dems. By declaring an National Emergency he has shifted the battle ground from the legislature to the Courts (where he has a big advantage) and to the alternative media where he is (right now anyway) winning the propaganda war. In the short run (until after the 2020 elections) the best he can hope for is that he doesn’t lose the fight. Depending on how the 2020 elections go he will (with a little luck and a lot su support from his base) be in a position to win the political fight.
The caravans she talks about (there are several more forming south of Honduras) are helping make the case for fortifying the border to reduce the chance of the illegals making it into the US. The obstetrical both physical and drones etc calling in people are not going to stop all illegal entries into the US, and they aren’t going to stop all smuggling either. What they are going to do is reduce the incentive for the illegals to try and enter the US.
There are already a bunch of the people in the first caravans turning around and going home because they can’t make it through the enhanced fences/walls at the border. That is why the current caravan is on the Texas Border in cartel territory. It costs more to pay off the cartels but the border is very porus in that area. The Border Patrol knows the weak areas on the border and we need to build walls/fences in those areas. reducing the chances of the people to illegally enter the US.
The disincentive for the illegal aliens is increased as robots are taking over more forms of stoop labor, one strawberry farm in Florida is going to use robots to harvets the next crop. Once the robots take over the stoop labor jobs on the big corporate farms the illegals who want to work will have fewer reasons to come to the US.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham pledged Sunday to hold a hearing to determine whether top Justice Department and FBI official discussed a “bureaucratic coup” to remove President Donald Trump from office.
Graham said in an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that he is willing to subpoena Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to answer questions about an alleged discussion to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.
McCabe claims that Rosenstein brought up the idea of using the Constitution to remove Trump during a meeting of FBI and Justice Department officials on May 16, 2017, around a week after Trump fired James Comey as FBI director.

Facebook blocks pages with MILLIONS of subscribers after CNN reports ties with RT
Facebook has suspended several accounts operated by Maffick Media without prior warning, right after CNN ran a report about the company’s perceived ties to the Kremlin.
In what seems to be a new step in the social media giant’s fight against perceived ‘Russian propaganda’, Facebook took down, without prior notice, several pages offering video content. The social media network said it would ask the administrators of Soapbox, Back Then and Waste-Ed to disclose their “Russian affiliations.” Facebook also suspended another Maffick page, In the Now, which was originally a show aired by RT.
“People connecting with Pages shouldn’t be misled about who’s behind them. Just as we’ve stepped up our enforcement of coordinated inauthentic behavior and financially motivated spam over the past year, we’ll continue improving so people can get more information about the Pages they follow,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
However, no official requests were filed with Maffick Media, the German-based company operating all three pages. They were not notified before the fact, which prompted an angry response (posted on Maffick’s front page at the time of writing) in which they branded Facebook policies “new McCarthyism.” All three pages remained offline on Monday.
The accounts were suspended shortly after CNN aired a report with the catchy headline “Kremlin funds viral videos aimed at millennials,” in which it listed all three pages as part of the Kremlin’s “influence campaign” targeting unsuspecting young American adults. CNN stated that German-based Maffick Media is “mostly owned” by Ruptly video news agency – a subsidiary of RT – and is thus in the Kremlin’s back pocket.
An open secret
CNN also repeatedly accused Maffick of concealing its suspected ties to Russia to mislead its audience. While, indeed, none of the pages bore a glowing stamp that said “paid for by the Kremlin,” they were never told that they were required to do so. Besides, no special effort was made to hide the funding sources – as proved by the CNN reporters themselves, who used an online commercial registers database to acquire documents showing that Maffick is 51 percent (which CNN generalized as “mostly”) owned by Ruptly.

Reacting to the move, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday that Facebook’s decision to block pages related to RT was unacceptable, and Russia was waiting for a response from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The ministry stressed Facebook’s actions breached internationally accepted freedom of expression principles.
Earlier in the day, Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of Sputnik and RT, said that media platforms were being used as tools in “a geopolitical confrontation.””

How Congress and President Obama Made Trump’s Wall Possible
Throughout the 2016 election, Donald Trump campaigned for president on the promise that he would build a wall along the southern border. Six weeks after his election in November 2016, Congress overwhelmingly passed a statute—codified as 10 U.S.C § 284—that authorized the secretary of defense to support the “construction of roads and fences and installation of lighting to block drug smuggling corridors across international boundaries of the United States.” On Dec. 23, 2016, a month before leaving office, President Obama signed the 973-page bill into law without any objection to this provision.
On Feb. 15, the Trump administration invoked this express statutory delegation of authority to do what the statute says: “construct … fences … across international boundaries of the United States.” Specifically, the president identified up to $2.5 billion under the Department of Defense funds that were designated for counterdrug activities. This provision does not turn on the declaration of a national emergency pursuant to 10 U.S.C. § 2808, which the president also invoked in a proclamation issued the same day. Critically, the White House stated that “these funding sources will be used sequentially and as needed.” The “emergency” funds may not be tapped until the other, less controversial funds are depleted. Plaintiffs may not have standing to challenge the diversion of “emergency” funds until those funds are in fact allocated. Through § 284, both Houses of Congress willingly gave President Trump a path to build at least part of the wall.

Young girls in Wales are afraid of using unisex toilets at school due to the possibility of “sexual harassment,” and “period shaming,” according to the charity Women’s Voices Wales.
The group claims to have carried out a large-scale review into how school students in Wales feel about so-called gender-inclusive facilities amidst concerns that they could put the welfare of children at risk.
“What we’ve heard so far ranges from girls not drinking water during the day so they can avoid using the toilets, to ‘period shaming’ from boys,” reads a long statement put out on Facebook by the charity on February 14.
They go on to outline that: “anxiety about coping with menstruation in schools has a serious effect on female pupils, including refusing to attend school. We are particularly concerned about any sexual harassment or intimidation taking place in mixed sex toilets.”
In Wales, the law requires schools with children over the age of eight to have single-sex facilities — unisex toilets can only be built in addition to, rather than replace single-sex facilities.
But Women’s Voices Wales claims that some establishments are not following such requirements and are replacing single-sex toilets for unisex ones.
As a result, the group says that the “safety and dignity” of schoolgirls is not being adequately respected. A spokeswoman for the group told the Daily Express that, “No child should avoid school, or stop drinking water so they don’t wee. Girls cannot ‘hold periods in.'”
Some parents who responded to the charity’s Facebook post expressed concern about the facilities, with some arguing that young girls are avoiding the toilet during school hours because of taunts from boys.
In response to the uneasiness surrounding the toilets, a Welsh government spokesman issued a statement saying that it intends to review the charity’s concerns to see “whether further guidance” is required. Yet, it went on to add that by its accounts, the facilities are “fit for purpose.””

Former FBI general counsel James Baker testified to Congress last fall that he was told by two officials that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said a pair of Cabinet officials was “ready to support” an effort to remove President Trump from office.
Addressing a joint task force of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, Baker did not name the Cabinet officials. Baker did identify the two FBI officials who informed him of Rosenstein’s talk of invoking the 25th Amendment: Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, whose anti-Trump text message with ex-FBI agent Peter Strzok has fueled concern among GOP lawmakers that there is rampant bias in the FBI.

“POLICE forces are facing a staffing crisis, with more than a third missing their recruitment targets, the Daily Express can reveal.
Chiefs are struggling to fill vacancies because of the rate at which experienced officers are quitting the force, it is claimed. And three-quarters of forces admit they cannot find enough specialist detectives. The figures are revealed in official papers which also detail how experienced officers are quitting the service in their droves amid growing demands and violent crime.
More than 2,400 have left their jobs since April 2018, documents from the National Police Chiefs’ Council show.
The papers, submitted to the Police Remuneration Review Body earlier this week, reveal that 16 of England and Wales’ 43 police forces missed recruitment targets by more than 25 percent.
They include some of the largest forces in the country, including West Yorkshire and Merseyside. Warwickshire missed its target by a staggering 75 percent, documents show.
The NPCC wrote: “Most have no trouble attracting initial applicants but, in some cases, the conversion rate is low. This suggests the calibre of applicants may not be of the quality required or there are potential issues with the recruitment process that lead to high attrition.
“The main reasons given for recruitment failures were personal reasons, change of mind and finding alternative employment. Discussions with newer recruits in focus groups suggest the length of time for the recruitment process to be completed may have a significant effect.”
Police chiefs also revealed an increasing number of forces are struggling to fill specific roles, with 33 of the 43 admitting that they are not recruiting enough detectives.
The report also states that “2,424 officers voluntarily left the service [not including retirees] prior to completing their full potential pensionable service this year. This is up as 2,044 officers voluntarily left the service last year”.
The documents show that 711 officers quit the Metropolitan Police, 142 left Thames Valley Police and 112 left West Midlands Police.
Tim Loughton, of the Home Affairs Committee, yesterday told the Daily Express: “At a time when most forces are recruiting additional officers to restore numbers we previously saw, it is a false economy if we are not doing more to retain experienced officers to deal with increasingly complex crimes.”
Che Donald, of the Police Federation, said: “They are leaving because of the huge stresses they are under.
“They feel they are not being looked after and say, ‘I can get a less stressful job with a better home-life balance and more money elsewhere’.
“A starting salary for a police officer is £18,000 but the House of Commons was recently advertising for a barista with a starting salary of £21,000.
“The impact on the service is that you don’t have the right level of appropriately trained officers.”
Last night, the NPCC refused to stand by its own statistics, saying they were not “reliable” despite the figures being submitted to the Police Remuneration Review Body.
A spokesman claimed some forces count transfers within the service as a “resignation”….”

On Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a man from Tennessee allegedly pulled a gun on a man wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat, stuck the gun in the MAGA-hat-wearing man’s face and reportedly threatened, “It’s a good day for you to die.”
The police report stated that the gun-wielding man was identified as James Phillips, 57, of Cottontown, Tennessee, according to WNKY. Phillips admitted he had given the finger to Terry Pierce and his wife, who were shopping at a Sam’s Club, as WBKO reported. WNKY added that according to the citation given Phillips, Pierce responded by giving the finger back at Phillips, prompting him to pull his gun.

“A student from another university invited to participate in a debate on campus free speech at the University of Bristol in the U.K. was banned from the event after he re-tweeted an account that said, “women don’t have penises.” The university’s Students’ Union cited “security concerns” as its reason for exclusion. The student decided to attend the debate anyway and was eventually invited on stage.
University of Durham student Angelos Sofocleous was banned from participating in a panel hosted by the University of Bristol’s Free Speech Society after retweeting an account that posted, “RT [retweet] if women don’t have penises.”
Sofocleous was also dismissed from his role as assistant editor at Durham University’s philosophy society’s journal last August, after his tweets were deemed “transphobic” by some people, according to a report by BBC News.
With regards to the student’s Twitter account, the University of Bristol Free Speech Society informed the Sofocleous that his invitation to speak on a panel discussion about free speech was canceled due to “security concerns.”
“We are saddened to inform you that due to Student Union (SU) bureaucracy we have been forced to cancel the invitation we extended to Angelos Sofocleous to be on our panel discussion on free speech,” said the Free Speech Society in a public statement.
The Free Speech Society added that the first question for the panel would ironically be, “is there a problem with free speech on campus?”
“I have just been de-platformed by @Bristol_SU from a panel debate on ‘Free speech on campus’ organized by the University of Bristol Free Speech Society due to concerns that ‘my presence might spark protests which might lead to physical violence,’” tweeted Sofocleous last week.
The university’s SU also stated that their “initial assessment of the speaker, made in consultation with the police, is that public disorder is highly likely,” according to the student.
“Nothing could provide a more ironic indication of the current status of social justice orthodoxy in academia than banning a speaker from an event titled ‘Free speech on campus,’” added Sofocleous.
On Wednesday, the student attended the debate anyway — as a guest — and after seeing that the event proceeded without any protest or violence, Sofocleous was able to join the panel as originally planned, according to BBC News.
“The fact I turned up and nothing bad happened, not even a minor incident, just proves that the SU did not make a good assessment of me,” said the student.
During the panel discussion, Sofocleous had also mentioned that it was “ridiculous that anyone’s right to not be offended is more important than their right to freedom of speech,” according to the university’s student newspaper.
The SU denies accusations that it has been a threat to free speech, claiming that “Bristol SU is committed to freedom of speech and the rights of all our students to discuss difficult and sensitive topics.””
‘Wake up’, Macron will tell Europe in major pre-Brexit speech: sources
PARIS (Reuters) – Emmanuel Macron will describe Brexit as a wake-up call in a speech this month in which he will outline how Europe must be more assertive in the face of rival world powers, sources close to the French president said.
His words are intended as a “warning shot” for a continent unable to project power and defend itself, said aides who described the speech as Macron’s most important since he spoke at the Sorbonne University in Paris in September 2017 urging fundamental reform of the European Union.
“This is a critical time,” a source close to Macron told Reuters. “If we Europeans don’t want to have other Brexits and become trapped in a naive defense of status quo, we have to wake up.”
Macron’s speech coincides with rising tensions in the West, which has been shaken by U.S. President Donald Trump’s “America First” policies and Britain’s departure from the EU. A more assertive China and Russia also pose major challenges.
Although Macron will use Britain’s planned departure from the EU on March 29 as the main impetus for his speech, the aim is not to offer an initiative to unblock the negotiating stalemate between London and Brussels, the source said.
The date and location of the speech have not yet been fixed.
“He won’t comment on the negotiation, or offer some kind of ‘Macron plan’ to fix the problem. The idea is to draw the lessons from Brexit,” the source said.
In Macron’s view, Brexit is part of the same phenomenon that brought Trump to power and sparked the “yellow vest” movement in France: a fear of losing out from globalization, territorial inequalities and rising contempt for the establishment.
The French leader will focus on championing a “Europe that protects” in the May 26 European election and seek to convince voters with plans aimed at reforming Europe’s trade, competition, digital and climate policies.
The speech will also seek to convince his European counterparts, who have watered down many of his Sorbonne proposals since 2017, to start thinking of the EU as a tougher geopolitical player in a ruthless world.
“The EU has done the internal regulation rather well, built a nice, peaceful area, with benign trade and regulated competition. But Europe hasn’t understood how to carry itself in a brutal world,” the source said.

“A man living in northeast England has been charged under Britain’s terrorism laws with attempting to incite a car, knife and bomb attack in Germany.
Fatah Mohammed Abdullah, a 33-year-old from Newcastle, was charged Monday with encouraging another person to plow a car into crowds in Germany, attack people with a meat cleaver and detonate bombs, “with the aim of killing and/or causing serious injury.”
The incitement allegedly took place between April 9 and Dec. 11, 2018.
He was arrested after a joint investigation by British and German police and is due to appear in a London court on Wednesday.”

I have resigned as Principal Secretary to The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, PC, MP, Prime Minister of Canada. He has accepted my resignation.
Recently, anonymous sources have alleged that I pressured the former Attorney General, The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, to assist SNC-Lavalin with being considered for a deferred prosecution agreement. I categorically deny the accusation that I or anyone else in his office pressured Ms. Wilson-Raybould. We honoured the unique role of the Attorney General. At all times, I and those around me acted with integrity and a singular focus on the best interests of all Canadians.
The Prime Minister of Canada’s Office is much larger and more important than any of its staff. I have served it to the best of my abilities, and I have at all times given the Prime Minister free and unfettered advice. I have served the public interest, not the interests of any individual or any narrow private interest of any kind, at any time. Life is full of uncertainties, but I am absolutely certain of that.
Any accusation that I or the staff put pressure on the Attorney General is simply not true. Canadians are rightly proud of their public institutions. They should be, because they work. But the fact is that this accusation exists. It cannot and should not take one moment away from the vital work the Prime Minister and his office is doing for all Canadians. My reputation is my responsibility and that is for me to defend. It is in the best interests of the office and its important work for me to step away.
I want to say a word about my relationship with Ms. Wilson-Raybould. I encouraged her to run for the Liberal Party of Canada, and worked hard to support her as a candidate and then Cabinet Minister. From my perspective, our relationship has always been defined by mutual respect, candour and an honest desire to work together.
On a personal note, I wish to thank the Prime Minister for the opportunity to work with him, his Cabinet and the Liberal Caucus. They are great people who are dedicated to improving their country. I also want to thank my colleague, Katie Telford. The last seven years simply do not happen without her. Nobody knows that more than I do. And to my colleagues in the PMO, it has been the highest honour of my professional life to have worked together with all of you on behalf of all Canadians. I wish them all well, and they have my full support.
I also need to say this (and I know it’s a non sequitur). Our kids and grandkids will judge us on one issue above all others. That issue is climate change. I hope the response to it becomes the collective, non-partisan, urgent effort that science clearly says is required. I hope that happens soon.
Every hard problem requires a thoughtful, collaborative solution from the country it affects. Those solutions in turn depend on good, hard-working people who devote their time and energy to public service. Canada has those people in abundance. While it is fashionable sometimes in some quarters to denigrate politicians and public servants, my experience is that the women and men who serve Canadians in elected office and the professional public service are honest, decent, hard-working people who put service of country beyond self every day. Life is many days, and there are hard days in public life, but there are no bad ones. I hope I did the job in a way that would have made my parents proud and will make my children consider public service.

In a statement, Butts unequivocally denies the accusation that he or anyone else in the office improperly pressured former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to help the Montreal engineering giant avoid a criminal case on corruption and bribery charges related to government contracts in Libya.
