Contributor’s Links post for February 5th, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

    • From the link: “According to Ford, and his Nation of Islam, Africans were the original and only people of the world (divine and uncorrupted) before whites were invented by an evil scientist named Yakub in a malicious experiment with tragic consequences. Islam is the true religion, and, at some point, a spaceship will be sent by Allah to eliminate the white people from the earth.

Too bad that Nation of Islam’s followers can’t take a hint from that other lead-by-example group, Heaven’s Gate. They “got on their spaceship”, so why can’t Louis “White People Deserve to Die” Farrakhan et al get with the program and follow suit?

These self appointed pseudo-religious thugs should have listened a lot more carefully to Marshall Applewhite when he explained about spaceships and, “the only way to evacuate this Earth”. Be that as it may, if Nation of Islam continues with their “Kill the [White] babies”, Polar Bear Hunting, and Knockout King ßüllshït, some disgruntled crackers just might start issuing boarding passes to these future astronauts.

As Khalid Muhammad, a former spokesman for Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam, declared:

I say, if they [Caucasians] don’t get out of town, we kill the men, we kill the women, we kill the children, we kill the babies, we kill the blind, we kill the cripple, we kill the crazy, we kill the faggots, we kill the lesbians, I say god dammit we kill them all.

Was there ever a more convincing and heartfelt plea for a “spaceship ticket”?

      • Its coming, and when it starts the people pushing for the war to start are going to wish (briefly) that they had been smarter.

  1. Greece’s Muslim Minority Complain of ‘Marginalisation’, Demand ‘Respect’ (breitbart, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2019/02/05/greeces-muslim-minority-complain-of-marginalisation-demand-respect/

“Outwardly, Komotini looks like other Greek cities, but there is a major difference: it has nine mosques whereas there are none in Athens.

The northeastern city has existed from the second century and was captured by Ottoman-era Turkey in the 14th. It was an important hub connecting the capital city of Constantinople, as Istanbul was then known, with the European part of the empire.

Now it is home to nearly 30,000 Muslims, many of whom complain of marginalisation.

Greece has for centuries had a testy relationship with Turkey, with a slew of disputes ranging from Aegean sea issues to the long-running Cyprus problem.

“The minority Muslims and their Greek compatriots cohabit but each side lives in its own corner,” said Mustafa Mustafa, a lawmaker from Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s party, speaking in this frontier city of some 60,000 people.

Tsipras visits Turkey on Tuesday in a bid to improve relations.

“Relations deteriorated in the 1960s and until 1990 many villages in the area were ringed by military barricades,” Mustafa, who is in his sixties, said.

“We could not access our properties or get a driving licence,” he said.

    – ‘We are being used’ –

“We would like to be a bridge of peace and friendship and not act as a brake.”

The issue of the Muslim minority is one of the sensitive areas in ties between the two neighbours.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a historic trip to Greece in 2017 — the first by a Turkish leader in 65 years — visited the Thrace region and called for the respect of the Muslim minority, railing against “discrimination” by the Greek government.

“It’s sad that we are being used,” said a young Muslim woman, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“These are normal people like us who are paying the price of politics,” she said of residents of Komotini, which lies about 100 kilometres from the border.

There are up to 150,000 Muslims in Greece’s western Thrace region, who were given minority status after the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne following the end of a war between Turkey and Greece which rang the death knell for the Ottoman empire.

The treaty provided for the application of sharia law to settle family disputes and the use of Turkish in educational institutions.

The presence of a Turkish consulate in the region adds to tensions.

“It would be better for everyone if the consulate stops serving the interests of the Turkish foreign ministry,” Komotini’s mayor Giorgos Petridis said.

    – ‘Islam = Turkey’ –

“What characterises this population is a plural identity,” said Thalia Dragona from the Athens National University.

“The new generation is educated and wants to break free from being slotted,” she said.

A young Muslim recounted how her family was criticised for putting their children in Greek schools, saying: “In their eyes, we had become traitors.”

Chatitze Molla Sali, who is in her seventies, lived in Komotini before relocating to Istanbul. She had inherited her husband’s house under Greek law but her sisters-in-law contested the decision, evoking sharia.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled in her favour in December.

“The decision clarifies the situation since it makes it impossible to apply Muslim law on European citizens,” her lawyer Yanis Ktistakis said.

In a deeply orthodox society where 76 percent of Greeks see Christianity as a central part of their identity, according to the Pew Research Center, “many people associate Islam with Turkey,” said Giorgos Kalantzis, the general secretary of religious affairs.

“The country has suffered at the hands of Turkey and this still brings up painful memories,” he said.”

    • Now it is home to nearly 30,000 Muslims, many of whom complain of marginalisation.

Of course, no one of alternate beliefs is ever marginalized in an Islamic society. Perish the flaming thought.

This Culturally Marxist strategy of pinning your own faults onto an attacker seems to have been lifted straight out of the Muslim playbook. What is it with these wifebeaters that causes them to project more than any multiplex theater?

  2. Nike Responds to Thousands of Muslims Urging Them to Shelve ‘Allah’ Sneakers (sputniknews, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201902051072133182-nike-response-to-muslim-outrage-over-allah-sneakers/

“While many people consider the claim to be a stretch, an online petition calling for the removal of the “Allah” shoes has racked up more than 34,000 signatures.

Nike is facing outrage from many of its Muslim customers, who say the logo on the soles of its sneakers is a blasphemy because it invokes the name of God.

The world’s biggest sportswear-maker said the resemblance was unintentional and did not mean to offend any religious feelings.

“Nike respects all religions, and we take concerns of this nature seriously,” the company said in a statement. “The Air Max logo was designed to be a stylised representation of Nike’s Air Max trademark. It is intended to reflect the AIR MAX brand only. Any other perceived meaning or representation is unintentional.”

Over 34,000 people have so far signed an online petition calling on Nike to pull its Air Max 270 trainers and all products featuring the same “blasphemous” logo.

When turned upside down, petitioners say, part of the script resembles the word “Allah” written in Arabic, which “will surely be trampled, kicked and become soiled with mud or even filth.” Showing someone the sole of your shoe has long been an insult in Arab culture.

Saiqa Noreen, the Muslim customer who launched the motion, says it is “outrageous and appalling” to have the name of God inscribed on a shoe.

Nike got embroiled in a similar controversy in 1997, when the Council on American-Islamic Relations forced the company to stop selling athletic shoes whose flame-style logo also appeared to resemble “Allah”.”

    • Any other perceived meaning or representation is unintentional.

Since when has perception ever been a less-than-adequate reason for Muslims to begin whining like a jet turbine that’s ingested some flock of seagulls?

It’s nice to see Nike get up on its hind legs (for once) and, however momentarily, resist this usual troweling-on of typical Islamic ßüllshït.

If those 34,000 petition-signers were individually confirmed as to personal identity and registered place of residence, then that roster will have some serious market value once local game management departments figure out how long the season ought to run.

  3. CNN Claims Saudis Transferred US-Made Arms to al-Qaeda-Linked Fighters in Yemen (sputniknews, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201902051072132588-cnn-saudi-arabia-yemen-weapons-al-qaeda/

“According to CNN’s exclusive report, Saudi Arabia and its coalition partners allegedly gave militants linked to al-Qaeda* terrorist group, Salafi militias and other factions in Yemen weapons that were manufactured by the United States, in breach of its arms agreements with Washington.

An investigation, carried out by CNN, has found that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had allegedly used weapons provided to them by the United States as currency to buy off militias and factions in the Yemeni conflict.

By handing US-made weapons over to third parties, the Saudi-led coalition is violating the terms of its arms sales with the United States, CNN claimed. A Defense Department official has confirmed to the broadcaster that Washington is investigating the issue.

Saudi Arabian and US authorities have yet to comment on the media report.
The channel has previously reported, citing documents provided by the Yemen-based human rights group Mwatana, that fragments of US-made bombs had been discovered at the sites of attacks in Yemen.

In December, the US Senate passed a resolution calling for an end to the US military support to the Saudi-led coalition in the Yemeni conflict.

Yemen has been locked in a conflict between the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi rebels. A Saudi-led coalition has been conducting strikes against the Houthis at Hadi’s request since March 2015.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkeys-erdogan-slams-us-delays-syria-buffer-zone-60849174

“Turkey’s president has slammed the U.S. over delays in establishing a buffer zone in Syria, saying that if Washington won’t contribute to the effort, Ankara will do it alone.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Donald Trump last month discussed setting up safe zone east of the Euphrates River in Syria.

Turkey has demanded Syrian Kurdish militia withdraw from there and Erdogan has been seeking logistical and financial assistance from Washington for that.

Erdogan said Tuesday that if the U.S. doesn’t keep to its promise to “cleanse the region of terrorists” and doesn’t contribute in the creation of a safe zone under Turkey’s control, “then we will take care of our own business.”

Erdogan warned Ankara’s patience is waning over delays in Kurdish fighters’ withdrawal from the Syrian town of Manbij.”

  5. Burkina Faso forces kill 146 jihadists after village attack (abcnews, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/burkina-faso-forces-kill-146-jihadists-civilian-attack-60847510

“Burkina Faso’s armed forces have killed 146 jihadists in three counterterror operations in the northwest near the border with Mali, the army’s commander general said.

The army’s response came after armed men attacked Kain village in Yatenga province early Monday, killing 14 people, Gen. Moise Minoungou said on national television Monday night. The army response, including air support, included fighting in Bahn in the north region and Bomboro in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

The statement said there were light injuries and no deaths among security forces.

Islamic extremists in recent months have increased attacks in Burkina Faso’s volatile Sahel region. A Canadian man was recently kidnapped and killed, and another Canadian and Italian are missing.

Gunmen in the past week killed at least 14 people in attacks on a marketplace and military base in the Sahel region. The base in Nassoumbou, in Soum province in the northeast, also was attacked in December 2016, with 12 military personnel killed.

Burkina Faso is part of a five-nation regional counterterror force, the G5 Sahel, launched in 2017. Other members are Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pakistani-premier-president-back-rebels-indian-kashmir-60846934

“Pakistan’s prime minister and president on Tuesday offered support for rebels in the Indian part of the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir as the country staged rallies marking the annual Day of Solidarity with Kashmir.

Rallies were also held in the Pakistani-controlled sector of the territory while a Pakistani minister declared the struggle of the rebels in Kashmir a jihad, or Muslim holy war, saying it would go on until Kashmir becomes part of Pakistan.

India and Pakistan each administer a part of Kashmir, but both claim the territory in its entirety. Rebels have been fighting Indian rule since 1989, demanding Indian-controlled Kashmir be united either under Pakistani rule or established as an independent country.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi in their statements condemned India for what they said were violations of human rights in the Indian section of Kashmir. They said Pakistan would continue its “diplomatic and moral” support for people living in Kashmir.

“The wish of Kashmiri people for freedom cannot be suppressed,” Alvi told lawmakers in the Pakistani-controlled part of Kashmir.

In Islamabad, Ali Amin Gundapur, a minister in charge of Kashmir affairs, told a rally that “one day, Kashmir will become part of Pakistan.”…”

“We hope that with their [Russian side] help, with their assistance we can reach some sort of solution. We appreciate this,” he said.

Stanikzai also discussed what he said was the Taliban’s hopes for the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Afghanistan. “[The] America side, there are two things, two agendas we have discussed. “An Afghan official says a pre-dawn Taliban attack on an army base in northern Kunduz province has killed at least 26 members of the country’s security forces.

Mohammad Yusouf Ayubi, head of the provincial council, says there are at least 23 soldiers and three members of the local police force among those slain in the attack early on Tuesday.

Ayubi says 12 troops were also wounded and that the Taliban onslaught at the base on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Kunduz city, lasted for over two hours.

He says the attackers were repelled after reinforcements arrived at the besieged base.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the Kunduz attack. He says insurgents overran three police checkpoints as the attack unfolded.”

The only amazing thing about this Manchurian Caliphate™ is that letters in the name “Francis” can’t be rearranged to spell, “Antichrist”.

There is, however, a rather telling anagram to be had from the Pope’s name. Many might say it accurately reflects his barely tumescent response to still-rampant child abuse within the church—or just being a camp follower fellow passenger in the Culturally Marxist baggage train.

  12. Ginsburg makes 1st public appearance since cancer surgery
    By MARK SHERMANyesterday

WASHINGTON (AP) — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is making her first public appearance since undergoing lung cancer surgery in December.

The 85-year-old Ginsburg is attending a concert at a museum a few blocks from the White House that is being given by her daughter-in-law and other musicians. Patrice Michaels is married to Ginsburg’s son, James. Michaels is a soprano and composer.

The concert is dedicated to Ginsburg’s life in the law.

Ginsburg had surgery in New York on Dec. 21. She missed arguments at the court in January, her first illness-related absence in more than 25 years as a justice.

She has been recuperating at her home in Washington since late December.

Ginsburg had two previous bouts with cancer. She had colorectal cancer in 1999 and pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The justice sat in the back of the darkened auditorium at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

The National Constitution Center, which sponsored the concert, did not permit photography.

James Ginsburg said before the concert that his mother is walking a mile a day and meeting with her personal trainer twice a week.

  13. The Rich Kids of Venezuela – including Socialist revolution leader Hugo Chavez’s daughter – flaunt their wealth with fist-fulls of cash and lavish holidays while the nation starves

Flashing a fist-full of dollars, posing with pop-stars or living it up in at world’s most lavish hotels – the rich kids of Venezuela’s socialist elite know nothing of the misery their parents have wreaked on their country.

Socialist revolution leader Hugo Chavez’s oldest daughter Maria Gabriela is rumoured to be Venezuela’s richest woman, with a personal fortune of more than 4 billion dollars, hidden in bank accounts Europe.

The 38-year-old earned her vast fortune while acting as first lady to her socialist President father, former Lieutenant-Colonel Hugo Chavez, after he divorced his second wife.

Chavez proclaimed Maria Gabriela ‘my hero’ when she appealed to Cuban leader Fidel Castro for help following the failed 2002 coup-attempt to get rid of his socialist regime.

  14. Ousting Maduro from Venezuela without violence appears unlikely, experts say

A host of European countries recognized Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s president on Monday, after Maduro predictably failed to meet their eight-day deadline to schedule free and fair elections. President Donald Trump and congressional leaders say all options are on the table. And recently announced U.S. oil sanctions will begin to take effect in the coming weeks as the international community attempts to send humanitarian aid to Venezuelans without Maduro’s assistance.

But Maduro’s past attempts to consolidate power, combined with an unprecedented international response to recognize a leader who does not control the country’s military, institutions or a portion of territory, does not have a direct correlation with other U.S.-backed efforts in Latin America and elsewhere. Experts who are both skeptical and supportive of the decision to recognize Guaidó’s government and a warp-speed time frame to hold elections in a matter of weeks say violence beyond the sporadic street clashes over the past few weeks is likely, whether or not foreign troops enter the country.

“I don’t see Maduro leaving peacefully,” said Eric Farnsworth, a former State Department official who is now a vice president of the Council of the Americas and a supporter of the decision to recognize Guaidó. “He’s not going to wake up with an epiphany, he’s going to have to be forced out. If it happens, it’s going to be by Venezuelans… members of the security forces or members of his own coalition, if they see him as ineffective.”

  16. YEAR OF THE MUTANT PIG Chinese New Year – How China is gorging on double-muscle ‘Frankenswine’ pigs while ditching traditional fatty breeds in the Year of the Pig

The news comes after China’s Ministry of Agriculture announced hefty hogs have fallen out of fashion due to demands for lean meat

MUTANT pigs are to muscle their way onto the dinner tables of China – after the nation fell out of love with fatty meat.

The news comes after China’s Ministry of Agriculture announced hefty hogs have fallen out of fashion due to demands for lean meat.

As the world’s biggest producer and consumer of pork, China has been domesticating hogs to eat for more than 8,000 years.

“A Saudi couple accused of poisoning a young child with insulin have denied cruelty charges today.

Amal Asiri, 28, and her husband Mohammed Asiri, 37, were said to have administered the drug when the child was in hospital.

Emma Smith, prosecuting, said: ‘The child was admitted to that hospital between March and June 2017 and again in February 2018 suffering from a form of hypoglycemia.

‘The Crown’s case is that it relates to the giving of insulin to the child by the defendants, either by giving it directly or allowing them to access it.’

Inner London Crown Court heard the couple are accused of ‘wilfully ill treating the child in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering’.

Mrs Asiri is also charged with ‘unlawfully and maliciously administering a poison or other destructive or noxious substance thereby to endanger the life of the child.’

Medical experts including doctors from the children’s hospital and toxicology experts are set to be called by both sides.

The couple, based in Kensington, south west London will return to Inner London Crown Court for a hearing on July 25 ahead of the trial on September 16.

Both deny a charge of cruelty to a person under the age of 16. Amal Asiri also denies one charge of administering a poison or noxious substance so as to endanger life.

The couple were granted conditional bail provided they remain in the country, surrender their travel documents and make no attempt to gain new documents.”

The woman was a child at the time of the alleged sexual abuse.

The men were arrested and a number of addresses in Calderdale, Bradford and Kirklees were searched following the extensive policing operation.

Detective Inspector Laura Nield, of Calderdale District Safeguarding, said: “Protecting and safeguarding children is a top priority for the force and this operation forms part of West Yorkshire Police’s ongoing commitment to investigating both current and non-recent sexual offences against children.

“These crimes affect the most vulnerable in our society and are truly heinous crimes.

“We have specialist safeguarding units in each of our five policing districts, which include officers dedicated to investigating and dealing with both current and non-recent child sexual exploitation.

“Tackling child abuse is not something the police can do alone, and we continue to work closely with local authorities, charities and other organisations to support victims and bring offenders to justice.

“All our investigations are victim-led and the long-term well-being of those victims is of paramount importance.

“We would urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, no matter when it took place, to report it to the police.

“You will be listened to, taken seriously and supported by professionals with experience of dealing with these kind of offences.”

All of those arrested have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

  21. Iran warns Israel against further air strikes in Syria

LONDON/JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Iran warned Israel on Tuesday of a “firm and appropriate” response if it continued attacking targets in Syria, where Tehran has backed President Bashar al-Assad and his forces in their nearly eight-year war against rebels and militants.

Without responding directly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nevertheless said it was important to block Iranian influence in Syria.

Israel, which views Tehran as its biggest security threat, has repeatedly attacked Iranian targets and those of allied militia in Syria. With an election looming in April, Israel has been increasingly open about carrying out air strikes.

  22. After deadly Syrian battle, evidence of Russian losses was obscured

YELENOVSKOYE, Russia (Reuters) – The last contact Grigoriy Gancherov and his wife had with their son, a Russian private military contractor fighting in Syria, was on Feb. 4 last year.

The father subsequently learned from a friend and fellow fighter of Sergei’s that the 25-year-old had died several days later in a major battle against U.S.-led forces in the Deir al-Zor region.

It was not until mid-April that he received formal notification of his son’s death and the body was returned, accompanied by a death certificate stating he died on March 7 on the other side of Syria.

Gancherov’s account is one of half a dozen instances Reuters has identified where the Kremlin-linked private military organization that recruited the fighters returned bodies more than seven weeks after the battle and with official documents bearing details that people who knew them say were incorrect.

According to relatives and a battlefield witness, the fighters all died in the clash in Syria’s Deir al-Zor region, which took place overnight on Feb. 7.

Such practices, an unusual pattern for Russian fighters killed in Syria, would have helped conceal heavy casualties until after President Vladimir Putin’s re-election in mid-March.

Moscow’s message at the time was that the military campaign in Syria was a success with only modest human cost.

That details are emerging nearly a year after the Deir al-Zor battle indicates that Moscow may struggle to control its message about casualties abroad at a time when it is expanding its military activities in the Middle East and Africa.

  23. Migrant caravan within a day of unfenced border area in Texas
    By J.E. Dyer February 5, 2019

According to reporting by Breitbart and Fox News, citing Mexican officials in the border state of Coahuila, about 1,700 migrants from Honduras have arrived in the state, which lies across the Rio Grande from a thinly populated area of southwest Texas. As of Monday, the migrants are being moved on buses to the U.S. border.

Breitbart’s summary indicates the migrants intend to enter the U.S. and request asylum:

The migrants are traveling with the intent to request asylum on U.S. soil, thus making any detention by border authorities irrelevant. The group is expected in Eagle Pass and Laredo, Texas, however, since the region lacks any fencing or physical barriers, some could successfully storm the border with little effort.

As the Breitbart reporters point out, this stretch of the border is unlike the border along Tijuana, where there is an extensive barrier. Migrants who are being organized to “storm” the border between Laredo and Eagle Pass will not be channeled by a barrier system to make their attempts in local areas the Border Patrol can readily focus assets on.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/02/05/migrant-caravan-within-a-day-of-unfenced-border-area-in-texas/

Richard: The timing is going to help Trump win the battle to build barriers to stop invasions like this. It is also going to force a lot of people to reconsider their ideas about welcoming the invaders.

Hopefully the Patriots in the US can establish barriers along the border before the left turns us into a copy of the chaos they have forced on Europe.

As J.E. says we don’t want a pitched battle along the Texas border, but even with the Propaganda Media working against us a pitched battle would in the long run help the cause of freedom.

    • The Washington Post went all-in on Brett Kavanaugh but spiked a similar story about a Democrat

f the Washington Post didn’t have double standards, it would have no standards at all.

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax’s office issued a statement Monday rejecting claims by a woman who alleges he sexually assaulted her in 2004, when they both attended the Democratic National Convention.

Almost as notable as Fairfax’s denial is the fact that the Washington Post was first approached by the alleged victim more than a year ago and decided not to publish her story. The Post explained Monday that it declined to report the woman’s allegations due to an absence of corroborating evidence.

  25. Cuomo announces income tax revenues have dropped by $2.3B

    By Carl Campanile

    February 4, 2019 | 3:05pm | Updated

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that state income tax revenues plummeted by $2.3 billion since he introduced his new budget plan last month — a bombshell that will force him to curb spending.

Cuomo attributed the revenue drop in December and January largely to the new federal tax code, as well as volatility in the stock market and other uncertainties.

“That’s a $2.3 billion drop in revenues. That’s as serious as a heart attack. This is worse than we had anticipated,” the governor said in Albany.

“This reduction must be addressed in this year’s budget.”

In a rare joint appearance with Cuomo, state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli confirmed the deteriorating finances.

Leftist colossus tilts UCLA toward totalitarian thought control.

Editors’ note: At the end of the 1960s at UCLA, the Black Panthers and the US organization battled for control of the new Black Studies program. In time, Chicano Studies, Women’s Studies, and Queer Studies also gained official recognition. Through the 1970s and 1980s, the University of California system rejected academically-qualified students and accepted others based on race and ethnicity. In 1996, voters responded with the California Civil Rights Initiative, which banned racial and ethnic preferences in state education, employment and contracting.

Twenty years later, UCLA’s Vice Chancellor for Equity Diversity and Inclusion is a specialist in “implicit bias” theory but shows a distinct preference for politically correct groups of the Left. Meanwhile, professors of a certain ethnicity and conservative political profile are ostracized for championing free speech. Even their staff and student supporters come under fire.

Below is Part III of Frontpage Mag’s 4-part series by Lloyd Billingsley on this state of affairs at UCLA. [Read Part I: HERE. Read Part II: HERE.]

Legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden won ten NCAA national championships, including a record seven in a row. As a student at UCLA, Keith Fink was something of an academic John Wooden, winning three national debating championships. After earning a law degree, Fink returned to the campus in 2008 as a professor, in the same department as his college debate coach Thomas Miller. Fink became popular with students, with good reason.

Jewish students Negeen Arasteh and Shahab Naimi, for example, sought out Fink’s classes because he is “one of the best teachers at UCLA.” Students of all backgrounds and disciplines packed classes such as “Sex, Politics and Race: Free Speech on Campus.” In all his classes, Fink championed what he calls “fundamental American values,” such as free speech and due process. Politically correct campus bosses didn’t like it.

    Daniel Greenfield

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was forced to dump Communications Director Matt House for “inappropriate encounters” with staffers.

House had been Schumer’s press secretary after working on Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

Biden isn’t the only Democrat in the 2020 race with sexually creepy staffers.

Senator Kamala Harris is embroiled in her own sexual harassment scandal after a lawsuit revealed that Larry Wallace, “a longtime aide and one of her closest professional confidantes” had been accused of sexual harassment by his executive assistant. The lawsuit was settled by Harris’ old office for a cool $400K and was sealed with a non-disclosure agreement. The only reason for an NDA is keeping the victim from going public and embarrassing Harris, Becerra and California’s Democrat establishment.

Wallace then went on to work as a senior adviser for Senator Harris in her Sacramento office

Kamala Harris had cosponsored the EMPOWER Act which would make it illegal to use NDAs to cover sexual harassment. But, as usual, politicians don’t mean for their own laws to apply to them.

  28. A New Low in Media Lies from the Miami Herald
The Herald’s Sarah Blaskey is an egregious example of how much journalism has degenerated.
    February 5, 2019
    Robert Spencer

It’s commonplace and universal: if you’re a dissident from the Leftist agenda, you’re not going to get fair, accurate, or honest treatment from establishment media reporters. But in this hit piece on Hallandale Beach Commissioner Anabelle Lima-Taub, who called Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib a “Hamas-loving anti-Semite” who might “become a martyr and blow up Capitol Hill,” Sarah Blaskey of the Miami Herald hits a new low even for Leftist “journalists,” whose integrity was already a notch below that of child molesters, and provides a textbook example of how those “journalists” distort the facts, libel people, and lie outright in order to manipulate the public into believing what they want them to believe.

Start with the title, “Strange bedfellows: How a South Florida Democrat became the darling of the alt-right,” which claims that Lima-Taub has become “the darling of the alt-right.” “Alt-right” is the latest media term that essentially means “people you should hate and fear.” When Leftists get more specific about what it means, they generally say that it refers to people who are white supremacists, racists, neo-Nazis, anti-Semites, and the like. Those terms don’t remotely apply to Anabelle Lima-Taub, but Sarah Blaskey wants you to think they do. And in smearing Lima-Taub and her supporters, Blaskey is just getting started.

    Satan’s Party.

Senate Democrats blocked a measure on Monday night that would prohibit infanticide.

Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) tried to pass a bill that would penalize doctors who fail to “exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion,” The Hill reported.

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) blocked Ben Sasse’s legislation arguing that US already prohibits infanticide and claimed Republicans are misinterpreting the bill introduced by Virginia Democrat Delegates last week.

  31. Taliban say women’s rights to be protected under Islam, but must not threaten Afghan values (telegraph, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/02/05/taliban-say-womens-rights-protected-islam-must-not-threaten/

“Taliban peace negotiators have said they are committed to guaranteeing women their rights under Islam – but failed to dispel fears that any deal will lead to a roll-back of the fragile freedoms gained by women in the past 17 years.

Insurgent envoys said their movement wanted to protect the rights of women “in a way that neither their legitimate rights are violated nor their human dignity and Afghan values are threatened”.

The lead negotiator, Sher Mohammed Abas Stanekzai, went on to criticise women’s rights activists for undermining Afghan traditions, prompting concern from campaigners.

The insurgents’ representatives used talks with Afghan opposition figures in Moscow to outline their stance on some of the thorniest issues facing any political settlement.

As well as demanding an end to the American “occupation”, the 10-man Taliban delegation demanded a new constitution. The current one had been imposed by the West and must be replaced with a new governance based on “Islam, national interests, historical achievements and social justice,” Mr Stanekzai said.

He also laid out where the movement stood on women, who were denied education, employment, or the ability to leave the house alone during the Taliban’s 1990s regime.

Mr Stanekzai said the Taliban movement “considers woman as the builders of a Muslim society and is committed to all rights of women that have been given to them by the sacred religion of Islam.”

He said Islam gave women rights in areas including “business and ownership, inheritance, education, work, choosing one’s husband, security, health, and the right to a good life”.

But he denounced “so-called women’s rights activists” who were encouraging women to break Afghan customs.

“Due to corruption, the expenses brought and spent under the title of women rights have gone to the pockets of those who raise slogans of women rights,” he said.

“Under the name of women rights, there has been work for immorality, indecency and circulation of non-Islamic culture. Dissemination of western and non-Afghan and non-Islamic drama serials, paving the way for immoral crimes, and encouraging women for violating Afghan customs are other instances that have been imposed on Afghan society under the name of women rights.”

Many women fear a peace deal will see rights enshrined under the Afghan constitution bartered away as part of a settlement. The constitution currently guarantees full equality with men, though in practice they still face severe discrimination. In Taliban-controlled areas girls are now often allowed to attend primary school, at the insistence of local leaders, but must frequently stop at puberty.

Women’s rights campaigners said it was unclear from Mr Stanekzai’s remarks that women would be any better off than they were in the 1990s.

Wazhma Frogh, a women’s rights activist, said: “While [the Taliban] are not ready to talk to women, they keep making laws for them.”

A Taliban spokesman said earlier this week that the movement would allow women to take part in “medicine, education, and other aspects of social life” outside the home.”

  32. Belgian Secretary of State Deports Cop Killer on Last Day in Office (breitbart, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/02/05/belgian-secretary-state-deports-moroccan-cop-killer/

“Belgian Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken used his last day in office to sign the deportation order of cop killer Hassan Iasir to Morocco despite him being born in Belgium.

Francken, a member of the right-wing New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), signed the move on his final day in office following the collapse of the Belgian coalition late last year over the controversial UN migrant pact which his party refused to sign, RTL reports.

Mr Iasir is currently serving out a 30-year sentence for the murder of Belgian police officer Kitty Van Nieuwenhuysen in 2007. The 23-year-old female officer, who had only recently graduated from the police academy, was killed after being shot with a Kalashnikov rifle while in pursuit of Iasir and two others who had stolen a car.

Iasir, who is of Moroccan origin, was given the expulsion order even though he had been born in Belgium and had grown up in the country, as well.

Iasir’s lawyer Fabian Lauvaux told RTL saying that the deportation was part of a campaign stunt for the N-VA ahead of the upcoming Belgian national elections. “This decision, taken in extremis, seems to me to intervene for political purposes,” he said.

Criminal lawyer Nadège Pouossi gave a different take on the issue saying Francken was within his abilities as minister and “can decide to take an order to leave the territory for a person who is a danger to the security or public order.”

The deportation marks the final act for Franken who was well-known for his harder stance on mass migration and radical Islam, having called for the banning of the pro-Sharia political party Partij Islam last year.

“Sharia is in violation of human rights. The Sharia parties are therefore undemocratic. Real wolves disguised as lambs!” he said.”

  33. Right-Wing Mayor Reverses Leftist Policy, Gives Italians Priority For Apartments Over Migrants (breitbart, Feb 5, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/02/05/right-wing-mayor-gives-italians-apartments-predecessor-gave-foreigners/

“The right-wing mayor of Sesto San Giovanni has reversed the leftist policy of prioritising non-European Union citizens for vacant apartments and is giving them to Italians instead.
Mayor Roberto Di Stefano, along with the centre-right coalition governing the municipality, has reversed the former leftist policy which saw 29 out of 36 available apartments allocated to non-EU citizens in 2017, Il Giornale reports.

In 2018, Italians were the main beneficiaries of apartments with only two out of 39 going to foreigners. The new policy was not popular with all residents of the municipality, however.

An Ecuadorian migrant complained in court that she had previously been high on the housing list but had her application rejected by the centre-right led local government because she was not able to provide proof she did not have property in her native country, accusing the government of discrimination.

The woman was able to provide proof she did not own property in her own region, but could not for the rest of the country citing the bureaucratic mound of paperwork required to do so. Nevertheless, the court ruled that since Italians must provide proof, so must foreigners, even if it requires more work.

The court found that requesting additional paperwork from foreigners was not grounds for discrimination.

Mayor Di Stefano commented on the ruling saying, “We have applied the law on a regular basis and any other choice would discriminate against Italians.”

The ruling was also welcomed by Italian populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini who said, “It is a ruling that respects the Italians and foreigners who respect the rules,” and added, “Now, enough with favouritism to foreigners.”

The policy of Di Stefano aligns with Salvini’s ‘Italian First’ policies which have included incentives for Italians to have more children such as the potential to receive a parcel of land after having three children in an effort to also revitalise rural areas of the country.

“A country which does not create children is destined to die,” Salvini said last July.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-europeans-buying-oil-us-waivers-60851647

“Iran says European nations have not responded to its offers to sell them crude oil despite having U.S. waivers.

The semi-official Fars news agency on Tuesday quoted Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh as saying “we have called them many times, but they do not return our calls.” He did not name the oil importers, but appeared to be referring to Greece and Italy, which were among eight nations granted waivers to import Iranian oil when the U.S. restored sanctions in November.

The U.S. began ramping up sanctions after President Donald Trump withdrew from Iran’s 2015 nuclear accord with world powers last year. Oil exports are a key source of revenue for Iran. The temporary waivers were intended to give countries more time to comply with the sanctions.”

Lawmakers in New Jersey have revived legislation intended to keep President Donald Trump’s name off the ballot in 2020. • If one gets down to the Realpolitik level, deploying more US troops to the Eagle Pass–Laredo corridor will give them valuable training for desert-environment engagements—unlike previous, less applicable exercises at “America’s Gateway City” … Tijuana.

This says nothing about the crucial demoralizing factor of an invasion being met with equal and greater force. In an ideal world, all of the misery, suffering, and deprivation—combined with forcible denial of illegal entry—experienced by these opportunistic feeders would, upon return-to-base, be transmuted into simmering furies being vented upon their worthless, corrupt, corporophages-passing-for-supposed-leadership right there in their own shitholes nations of origin.

Of equal and much farther reaching benefit is maintaining—and (given previous expenditures) continuing to capitalize upon—the now-established reputation we running Yanqui dogs Americans have for returning the gesture that these predators so often send our way.

Namely, volteando el pájaro … better known in the states as, a “one finger salute”.

At worst, both the potentially acquired (or strengthened) discipline and any equipment-to-be-issued seem destined for use in another desert region anyway.

      • Good points, the illegals will probably realize the troops won’t shoot unless fired on but they are capable of stopping any mass rush.

Despite what a lot of nut buckets are saying Posse Comitatus doesn’t apply, that act was to prevent the US military being turned into a Constabulary to be used as a national police. This is a clear mission to stop illegals aliens from entering the US through a porous border, aka protecting the integrity of the US borders aka protecting the US from foreign invasion is the prime duty of the military. No one but a fool says that the invaders have to be military, they can be civilians and the military can still be used against them.
