  1. Iran Reportedly Turns Off Oil Tanker Tracking Systems as US Sanctions Loom (sputniknews, Nov 4, 2018)

“Analysts at a watchdog that monitors global oil shipments have revealed that they have been utterly exhausted from trying to track Iran’s oil exports amid a looming US embargo on the petrochemical sector.

According to, in late October all Iranian ships switched off their transponders to avoid international tracking systems for the first time since the watchdog started operating in 2016.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen a blanket black-out. It’s very unique,” said TankerTrackers co-founder Samir Madani.

Currently, the vessels can only be monitored using satellite imagery, and analysts at the online service believe that such a shift to lesser transparency is part of Iran’s relentless efforts to keep oil flowing ahead of the impending US sanctions, slated to take effect on Monday.

“Iran has around 30 vessels in the Gulf area, so the past 10 days have been very tricky, but it hasn’t slowed us down. We are keeping watch visually,” said co-founder Lisa Ward.

Oil industry experts suggest that going dark could pose a problem for ship-tracking services trying to pinpoint the exact date and sometimes the exact hour when a tanker loaded its crude cargo…”

  2. Germany: Migrants rape bedridden, defenseless female senior citizen–
Two migrants entered the apartment of a bedridden elderly woman last Wednesday evening from the balcony and then took turns to bestially attack and rape the defenceless lady. The number of crimes against sexual self-determination committed by Muslim migrants seems to increase day by day. At least a glance at the police reports allows such a conclusion to be drawn. The crimes are not only becoming more frequent, they are also becoming more brutal. In selecting their victims, the perpetrators do not take age, gender or place of the heinous attack into consideration. Last Wednesday, two migrants in Lauffen (near Heilbronn) broke into the apartment of a bedridden elderly woman in need of care over the balcony. The two criminals unscrupulously attacked the woman, who was unable to defend herself and defend herself, and brutally raped her. After they had satisfied their lower instincts, the migrants disappeared and left the old woman seriously injured. It was not until the following morning that the elderly woman was found by a nursing staff member. The immediately alerted rescue service took the ravaged lady to a hospital where she was cared for and hospitalized. The description of the perpetrator is strikingly similar to the other descriptions made in comparable cases: two men with Mediterranean appearance, broken German language, about 25 to 35 years old…The German mainstream media have not yet reported on this crime. A senior woman in need of care who has been raped by migrants is apparently not worth reporting to those media.

      • The psychology is simple. The reason why muslims hate women to have to kick them and rape them to submission is
because if you get a man to capitulate three time and give up his soul – forever – his only sense of worth is to remain hidden and pick on someone weaker to restore his honor.

“Yes boss” in public, bully in secret.

Every woman, from baby to elderly, is wholely superior to a muslim. Every dog wants to mount them. Natural instinct.

When two or more gather together they attack the outsider.
One their own they’re your best friend.

      • They are doing this to prove to people that they are the ones in control since we Westerners can’t protect our young or elderly.

    • The crimes are not only becoming more frequent, they are also becoming more brutal. In selecting their victims, the perpetrators do not take age, gender or place of the heinous attack into consideration.

This is an indiscriminate attitude being displayed by the “immigrant” attackers.

Perhaps a less discriminate attitude about deportation and denial of asylum requests ought to be shown to “immigrants”.

  3. Iranian marchers chant ‘Death to America’ on eve of US oil sanctions (memo, Nov 4, 2018)

“Iranians chanting “Death to America” rallied on Sunday to mark both the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. Embassy during the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the imminent reimposition of U.S. sanctions on Iran’s key oil sector.

Thousands of students in the government-organised rally in the capital Tehran, broadcast live by state television, burned the Stars and Stripes, an effigy of Uncle Sam and pictures of President Donald Trump outside the leafy downtown compound that once housed the US mission.

Hardline students stormed the embassy on November 4, 1979 soon after the fall of the US-backed Shah, and 52 Americans were held hostage there for 444 days. The two countries have been enemies, on opposite sides of Middle East conflict, ever since.

    • Iran: US sanctions fan flames at anniversary of 1979 embassy takeover

Thousands of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran on Sunday to mark the 39th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover. The protest took place amid heightened tensions with Washington, following President Donald Trump’s decision to restore all sanctions lifted under the Iran’s nuclear deal.

Protesters held banners with slogans against the US and Israel and chanted “Down with the US” and “Death to Israel.” They were also seen burning the flags of both countries.

“The 40-year history of the Islamic Revolution is of the frequent failures of America in Iran and in the region. And with the help of God and the resistance of our people, the last trick of the enemy, which means economic warfare with remarkable support of American media against the Iranian nation, will fail too,” said Head of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, addressing the crowds.

  4. Husband of Freed Pakistani Christian Woman Pleads for Asylum (nyt, Nov 4, 2018)

“The husband of a Pakistani Christian woman acquitted after spending eight years on death row on blasphemy charges has appealed to President Trump for refuge, citing danger to the family’s lives.

Ashiq Masih, the husband of Asia Bibi, whose case has outraged Christians worldwide and been a source of division within Pakistan, also appealed to Britain and Canada for assistance.

The appeal came as the police said they had arrested more than 150 people on charges of arson, vandalism and violence during the protests that erupted after Ms. Bibi’s acquittal. A senior police officer, Nayab Haider, said on Sunday that officers were using video to identify others involved in committing assaults, torching property and vehicles, and blocking highways, The Associated Press said.

The Islamist party Tehreek-e-Labaik blocked major roads in Pakistan’s biggest cities for three days, calling for the killing of the Supreme Court judges who acquitted Ms. Bibi on Wednesday, and terming Prime Minister Imran Khan and the country’s army chief enemies of Islam.

Tehreek-e-Labaik called off the protests late Friday after striking a deal with the government that could see the authorities moving to put Ms. Bibi on an “exit control list” barring her from leaving the country and opening a review of the verdict.

“I am requesting the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to help us exit from Pakistan,” Mr. Masih said in a video recorded by the British Pakistani Christian Association and seen by Reuters.

“I also request the prime minister of the United Kingdom to help us,” he said. “I also request the prime minister of Canada.” He also requested help on behalf of his brother Joseph Nadeem, who has assisted with Ms. Bibi’s case.

The United States Embassy and the high commissions of Britain and Canada in Islamabad did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the video.

On Saturday, Ms. Bibi’s lawyer Saiful Mulook told Reuters that he had left Pakistan, fearing for his life and the safety of his family…”

    • Tehreek-e-Labaik called off the protests late Friday after striking a deal with the government that could see the authorities moving to put Ms. Bibi on an “exit control list” barring her from leaving the country and opening a review of the verdict.

First off, Tehreek-e-Labaik seems an ideal candidate for swift, early retirement.

Second, as a quick and (relatively) easy thumb-in-the-eye for Islam, few things could beat whisking Asia Bibi and her family off to safety in America. In fact, Trump could solidify his US Christian voting base by doing so.

My hat is off to anyone tasked with sorting out whether such a move might drive more Democrat-party voting Muslims into the midterm booths. One thing is for sure, Islam’s hair-trigger—not to mention its all-too-readily abraded ideological sensitivities—regularly complicates (and militates against) any remote possibility of coexistence.

Pakistan’s ultra-Islamist party blocked roads in major cities for a third day on Friday (November 2) in protest against the acquittal of a Christian woman on death row for blasphemy allegations.

About 100 protesters using stones, pieces of wood and motorbikes to create a barricade across one main road in Karachi.

The police and paramilitary force later dispersed them. Meanwhile, supporters of major Islamic party Jamat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam staged peaceful protests in Karachi, demanding the court verdict to be reviewed and taken back.

  5. Egyptian security forces kill 19 militants in desert shootout (theguardian, Nov 4, 2018)

“Egypt says security forces have killed 19 militants in a shootout, including the gunmen suspected of killing seven Christians in an attack on pilgrims traveling to a remote monastery.

The interior ministry said the militants were tracked to a desert hideout west of the central Minya province, where Friday’s attack took place.

The ministry published photographs purporting to show the dead bodies of the militants and said the men had opened fire when security forces surrounded them.

Friday’s attack was the second in as many years to target pilgrims on their way to the monastery of St Samuel the Confessor. A May 2017 attack left 29 dead.

Christians make up about 10% of Egypt’s population of 100 million and have long complained of discrimination.”

  7. Tired and angry, migrant caravan splinters in Mexican state
    By SONIA PEREZ D.yesterday

ISLA, Mexico (AP) — A 4,000-strong caravan of Central American migrants traveling through Mexico split up into several groups with one spending the night in a town in the coastal state of Veracruz and other migrants continuing toward the country’s capital.

The divisions came during a tense day in which tempers flared and some migrants argued with caravan organizers and criticized Mexican officials. They were upset that Veracruz Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes had reneged on an offer late Friday to provide buses on Saturday to leapfrog the migrants to Mexico City.

    • It sounds like the Mexican Federal Government put pressure on the Vera Cruz Governor to stop him helping the caravan.

From what I have seen the main reason that people, police and local governments have been helping the caravan is to get them out of their area and make them someone else’s problem.

      • From what I have seen the main reason that people, police and local governments have been helping the caravan is to get them out of their area and make them someone else’s problem.

“Here’s your hat. What’s your hurry?”

One thing is for certain—if the caravan has only made it to Veracruz—there ain’t no way in H-E-Double-Toothpicks they’ll be here in time for this Tuesday’s domestic political festivities.

Aside from creating whatever stray negative optics—regardless of how admirably Trump has navigated this set of diplomatic shoals—the caravan’s tardy arrival has given the President an option to be as bristly or appeasing as he wants to be; with the option of changing his mind at any later time.

In today’s 10 second sound-bite world (plus even shorter adult attention spans), possessing that sort of latitude in public perception and presentation is pure gold.

SIDEBAR: Western Liberals are routinely plagued by the Law of Unintended Consequences™. Notice how well The Great Society or the various Wars on Poverty, Drugs or Gun Control have worked out created more problems than they’ve solved?

All told, the caravan may well prove to be a four-flushing partisan cameo by the Western Left—as this spectacularly late political-baggage-train arrives (post-midterm) to cause more turmoil and opportunities for exposure of nefarious Liberal motives. Only some severe blunders by the President—totally atypical of Trump’s immense shrewdness—will allow this tardy caravan to work in the Left’s favor.

CONCLUSION: Look for how the caravan controversy will be resolved as a prime mover regarding public and government support for The Wall.

        • I don’t think it is the US left behind these caravans, while I don’t think they are very smart they do know that this will drive a lot of people to the polls to vote for people Trump supports. China, Iran and Russia giving money to Venezuela on the other hand would think no matter what happens with the Caravan is a win for them. If Trump wins (I think enough of the Trump Base will turn out to let us keep the House) the turmoil will be almost as bad as it will be if the Dems take the House. The Caravan will keep the immigration issue before all of the people increasing the national division caused by the left wanting open borders.

Either way our external enemies win.

    • The divisions came during a tense day in which tempers flared and some migrants argued with caravan organizers and criticized Mexican officials.

Anyone in the US State Department (or various intelligence agencies) had best be burning the midnight oil to investigate those “caravan organizers” and following the money trail therein.

One of the more worrisome issues that bobs to the surface in a political cesspool like this is that most high-level participants are driven by such ideological fervor that they will apply all of their cunning and connections to circumvent surveillance or traceability.

U.S. militia groups head to border, stirred by Trump’s call to arms
    Mary Lee Grant, Nick Miroff

FALFURRIAS, Tex. —Gun-carrying civilian groups and border vigilantes have heard a call to arms in President Trump’s warnings about threats to American security posed by caravans of Central American migrants moving through Mexico. They’re packing coolers and tents, oiling rifles and tuning up aerial drones, with plans to form caravans of their own and trail American troops to the border.

“We’ll observe and report, and offer aid in any way we can,” said Shannon McGauley, a bail bondsman in the Dallas suburbs who is president of the Texas Minutemen. McGauley said he was preparing to head for the Rio Grande in coming days.

“We’ve proved ourselves before, and we’ll prove ourselves again,” he said.

  9. US troops lay down barbed wire along border ahead of caravan

As three separate migrant caravans slowly made their way north through Mexico on Saturday, newly arrived US troops worked to lay a barbed-wire fence along the Texas side of the Rio Grande.

The soldiers worked with US Customs and Border Patrol officers to lay about 1,000 feet of fencing along the river, the Defense Department said. The makeshift barrier was installed underneath the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge, which crosses into Mexico. The overpass is in the small town of Hidalgo, about 250 miles south of San Antonio.

“I saw that beautiful barbed wire going up,” Trump said at a Saturday campaign rally in Montana. “Beautiful sight.”

A Border Patrol spokesman said in an email to The Post the fencing was part of “necessary preparations” for the caravans.

    • I saw that beautiful barbed wire going up,” Trump said at a Saturday campaign rally in Montana. “Beautiful sight.

  10. The Next Generation Of Warfare: Genetically-Engineered Viruses
Profile picture for user Tyler Durden
    by Tyler Durden

Genetically engineered viruses could very well become the next generation of warfare. Deadly viruses modified in labs could be released eliminating entire communities of people as they infect making them a valuable asset to militaries worldwide.

As dystopian as that sounds, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is already working on a project called Insect Allies which will use insects to infect crops with genetically modified viruses that edit the crops’ genetic profile to make them more resilient against disease, as well as natural and manufactured threats to the food supply.

Richard: Yes modified diseases used as weapons are the future of total war, tailored bio weapons are already in some arsenals and it is necessary for the US (and other governments) to work to develop protection from the modified diseases. I realize the left and potential leftists think that working to defend your self or you nation is evil but I don’t. However I think that a naturally occurring disease that we thought was eliminated is probably the first plague that will hit us.

    • Genetically engineered viruses could very well become the next generation of warfare. Deadly viruses modified in labs could be released eliminating entire communities of people as they infect making them a valuable asset to militaries worldwide.

To hell with “Genetically engineered viruses”. Try genetic engineering, period.

Several months ago I posted a draft essay here about this topic. Actually, it’s several years old and based on the excellent science fiction novel, “Clade”, by author, Mark Budz. I present a barely-modified version of the original for your delectation:
Please read the science fiction novel “Clade”, by author Mark Budz (Bantam Books, 2003). This post-apocalyptic novel deals with rehabilitating the earth after an “ecocaust”, a total and catastrophic environmental collapse. In a burst of genius, Budz details population control systems that work to regulate a shattered world which is being resettled and reshuffled along ethno-cultural lines so as to reduce historic frictions.

In order to inhibit the usual cross-border conflicts, individual populations are genetically programmed to be dependent upon specific “pherion” compounds. The plot details how these pheromone-based, genetically inserted materials find their widest use in pacifying and stabilizing what would otherwise be potentially restive populations.

It is a well known scientific fact that pheromones can activate sexual arousal but many people are often unaware of their more mundane role in parent-infant bonding and other less lurid functions. Besides sex pheromones, there are also alarm pheromones and food trail pheromones along with many others that affect behavior or physiology. The insect world makes widespread use of these signaling compounds in addition to some vertebrates and plants who also communicate with them as well.

In the book, “Clade”, one specific use of these “pherions” is to lock a given population into its allocated environment. Mirroring a poisonous binary compound, antagonistic pherions must have both components present in order to prevent their attacking the body within which they reside. Creating these forced population enclaves is achieved by distributing portions of the binary (or even further segmented) pherion compound into various parts of the water supply or food chain. Due to their relatively short lifetime, these pherions must be regularly ingested so as to inhibit the antagonistic effects upon human physiology and immune systems that result if one or more of them becomes deficient.

A useful model for comparison is how modern bacteriologists and microbiologists used a genetically modified version of E. coli (Escherichia coli) which, unlike its more common cousin, is specifically designed to perish in an oxygen environment. This way, any laboratory containment breach that results in a release of this virulent bacterium is self-remediating as the organism cannot survive for long in the ambient environment.

In a similar manner, people of a given geographic population who have been made dependent upon this stabilized genetic modifier cannot up and decide to relocate elsewhere without risking immediate debilitating illness or, even, death due to the sudden absence of one or more regulating pherion compounds. A darker side and illicit application of this same genetic chemistry lies in how it is used to enslave people. In the book, large transnational “politicorps” (political corporations) utilize this same pherion dependence model to create captive worker populations much in the same way that 19th century coal mines and other labor intensive enterprises used “company stores” to financially ensnare their workforce.

Additionally, individuals can be independently identified through analysis of their pherion profile. In the book’s plot, this serves as a separate biometric methodology to detect unauthorized immigrants, genetically tagged criminals, security risks and users of illegal counteractive measures or psychotropic compounds.

In the publishing world, this sort of “predictive writing” is called Hard Science Fiction. A better known author of this genre is David Brin (“Sundiver”, “The Practice Effect”). This style is called “hard” because it does not rely upon any magic, supernatural forces or yet-to-be-invented technology. Much of what Budz describes in his book could be implemented within a fairly short amount of time, less than a decade or two at worst.

Grim as it may sound, Budz’s pherion-based technology and method of population control represents one of the few functional ways of containing this planet’s Muslim community. Many people here and elsewhere have speculated about some sort of containment model in order to restrict Islam’s encroachment upon the civilized world.

This sort of genetic implementation represents one of the only effective ways of curtailing Islamic jihad. Muslims who left their native countries or regions of origin would simply perish from lack of nutrient uptake, a common cold or any of innumerable other variants on immune system inhibition.

Muslims who remained in their specified areas would continue to ingest the needed pherion fragments that inhibit any antagonistic genetic reaction. Best of all, the world’s non-Muslim population would not be required to consume any of these compounds. The entire scheme would require compliance by Muslims on pain of swift death in the absence of uptake. Inoculation with these pherions would be a routine part of the expulsion process. Additionally, anyone seeking to escape after being dosed would be immediately detectable due to their pherion profile.

While this is not a one hundred percent effective containment measure, it is certainly more affordable and practical than any sort of “Berlin Wall” strategy that has been suggested by others in the past. The main intent of my bringing this concept into public awareness is to ensure that a wider audience begins to understand that there are humane and effective ways of mitigating Islamic jihad without resorting to genocide or Total War, especially nuclear annihilation.

To date, the pherion-based model is one of a very few that shows any promise in terms of forcibly re-aggregating a large Muslim population that has been deported from the West and other civilized regions. All other physical barrier models present too great of a risk with respect to being interdicted along with a prohibitive operational price tag. The genetic compounds in question could be designed and originated for a few billion dollars and then grown quite economically in cultures using vat-like incubators identical to those employed by the existing genetic engineering industry.

If anything, readers are encouraged to read Budz’s novel solely on its own merits. It is a well-constructed and unnerving world of possibilities that could await us if we ignore our obligation to be more diligent stewards of the environment. Indeed, subsequent to such an “ecocaust” one of the only cost-effective methods of producing bulk medicinal drugs and food stocks would be through genetic engineering.

Furthermore, this same gene-based technology would be instrumental in generating a plethora of new species capable of withstanding the intense ultra-violet light of a stripped out atmosphere along with surviving the concentrated chemical and biological contaminants that would likely result from such a catastrophe. All in all, Budz provides both excellent entertainment value and some rich food for thought with his work, “Clade”.

Again, if the West has any hope of humanely ending terrorism, it’s going to involve something like the foregoing. Islam’s addiction to barbaric violence regularly demands reciprocation of greater violence, and only some really innovative technology will avert the possibility of having to vaporize over ONE BILLION MUSLIMS.

Let’s be frank [waves at Frank] and mutually agree that neutralizing the some plus-one billion global population of Muslims—without even addressing the endless casualties or sheer incomprehensible tonnage of conventional weapons such an objective would mandate—only can be achieved via unconventional weaponry.

This is why I make such a hullabaloo about the “Clade” concept of pherion-based population control. Already, I’ve seen my suggestion of this ridiculed (or abhorred) by people here and elsewhere. Feel free to suggest something better.

I’m happy to take such brickbats (even if I’m plain wrong), just so long as the ball keeps rolling with respect to people finding practicable measures that resolve deportation and resettlement of this planet’s Muslims back to their places of origin.

To be perfectly clear, we in the West have spent TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS unsuccessfully attempting to pacify a mere few Muslim majority nations. There isn’t enough liquid money in this entire world to CONVENTIONALLY suppress the DOZENS of Islamically controlled countries that remain.

All Muslim majority countries will continue to churn out more jihadi terrorists until the West devises some way of containing them. Let them kill each other all they want but this wolf must be kept from the door.

The West has had enough of “showers and chimneys” to last it a lifetime (or more). Currently, we have a genuinely virulent enemy in our midst whose love of murder and mayhem makes inaction not-an-option. To date, “Clade” has one of the only alternatives I’ve seen to committing flat-out genocide.

I’m more than happy to entertain any better strategies. Hell, even bad ones.

Humankind possesses sufficient collective brainpower to find some way of resolving this issue of intractable Islamic violence. Absent that, we’d best begin formulating some really good excuse for having perpetrated one of modern history’s most staggering genocides.

  11. Iranian marchers chant ‘Death to America’ on eve of U.S. oil sanctions

DUBAI (Reuters) – Iranians chanting “Death to America” rallied on Sunday to mark both the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. Embassy during the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the imminent reimposition of U.S. sanctions on Iran’s key oil sector.

  12. U.S., South Korea set delayed military drills; North Korea urges end to pressure

SEOUL (Reuters) – The United States and South Korea will begin small-scale military drills on Monday that were delayed during talks with North Korea, days after Pyongyang threatened to restart work on its nuclear program if international pressure does not ease.

The Korean Marine Exchange Program was among the training drills that were indefinitely suspended in June after U.S. President Donald Trump met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore and promised to end joint, U.S.-South Korea military exercises often criticized by the North.

A spokesman for South Korea’s Ministry of Defence confirmed a round of training would begin near the southern city of Pohang, with no media access expected.

About 500 American and South Korean marines will participate in the maneuvers, the Yonhap news agency reported.

In Washington last week, South Korea’s defense minister said Washington and Seoul would make a decision by December on major joint military exercises for 2019. Vigilant Ace, suspended earlier this month, is one of several such exercises that have been halted to encourage dialogue with Pyongyang. [nL3N1XB2GP]

  13. China’s boulevard to nowhere: The battle for influence in APEC’s Pacific host

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Workers are putting the finishing touches on a Beijing-funded boulevard designed to showcase Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) capital to visiting world leaders at this month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Critics say the six-lane road – complete with wide, illuminated footpaths – is emblematic of a regional power play whereby donor countries vie for influence with show-stopper gifts, even as deeper problems plague the Pacific nation.

Australia, PNG’s traditional partner and a close Washington ally, is lifting aid and has plowed more than A$120 million ($86.5 million) into APEC, seeking to keep its sway over its neighbor.

Allan Bird, a parliamentarian and governor of PNG’s second largest province, said the boulevard outside parliament house had little practical benefit.

“Whatever the Chinese government spent on it, it could have been better spent somewhere else, buying medicine or building a school,” Bird told Reuters.

Bird said such gifts put pressure on traditional partners such as Australia to place less restrictions around donated funds and refrain from criticizing PNG’s own spending, which controversially includes buying 40 Maseratis and three Bentleys for APEC.

    • Bird said such gifts put pressure on traditional partners such as Australia to place less restrictions around donated funds and refrain from criticizing PNG’s own spending, which controversially includes buying 40 Maseratis and three Bentleys for APEC.

Make anyone who ends up with one of those “40 Maseratis and three Bentleys” a candidate for very rapid, early retirement. This “Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum” reeks of being a political junket with no other apparent practical purpose.

These spending patterns are typical of heavily corrupted régimes and those that encourage such behavior, be they of domestic or foreign origin, are the enemies of humanity. In terms of causing human misery, only Islam comes close to matching institutionalized corruption.

As an example; Fiat’s lowest cost Maserati model, the Ghibli, starts at $68k USD. Times 40, that cracks a mere 2.7 million dollars plus change. Toss in the three Bentlys and a sum total of $3MM isn’t out of the question. Especially if they were upsold on the Maseratis.

As Governor Allan Bird noted, “Whatever the Chinese government spent on it, it could have been better spent somewhere else, buying medicine or building a school”, let’s just say that THREE MILLION DOLLARS can buy a lot of medicine AND still have some leftover cash for building a few schools.

  14. Activists urge deep scrutiny of China at U.N. rights gathering this week

GENEVA (Reuters) – Activists called for U.N. member states to pressure China this week to account for alleged human rights violations, including the suspected mass detention of one million Muslim Uighurs in far-western Xinjiang province.

China’s record will be examined by the U.N. Human Rights Council on Tuesday, the first time since 2013, in a regular review expected to focus on its treatment of ethnic minorities, especially Uighurs and Tibetans.

China says Xinjiang faces a threat from Islamist militants and separatists. It rejects all accusations of mistreatment in an area where hundreds have been killed in unrest between Uighurs and members of the ethnic Han Chinese majority.

While denying the allegations of arbitrary detentions and political re-education across a network of secret camps, however, officials have recently said some citizens guilty of minor offences were being sent to vocational centers to provide employment opportunities.

Activists sharply criticized Beijing’s rights record.

  15. GOP senator proposes bill that would kill two birds with one stone vis-à-vis border wall
By Ben Bowles November 3, 2018

No, Mexico is not going to pay for a wall constructed along its border with the U.S., but Democrats would oppose it even if Mexico did agree to finance it. Why? If you ask House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), she will tell you that the proposed wall is “too high.” Too high for what Pelosi has failed to specify, though she has said that walling off “neighbors” is “obnoxious.”

The simple truth is that a wall would drastically reduce the number of aliens sneaking across the border, which the Democrats are counting on as future voters.

This is not to say that there aren’t Republicans who have expressed concern over the cost of such a wall, which according to estimates could run as high as $30 billion over ten years.

But now Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) has come up with a plan for funding the wall. Inhofe unveiled his proposal, fittingly named the “Wall Act,” last Thursday at a news conference. Essentially, the plan would pay for the wall by eliminating loopholes that allow illegal aliens to receive federal benefits.

  16. CIA under Obama read congressional emails about intel community whistleblowers
By Daily Caller News Foundation November 4, 2018

The CIA during the Obama administration read congressional emails discussing whistleblower complaints about activities within the intelligence community, according to newly declassified documents provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

The documents show that on March 28, 2014, I. Charles McCullough III, who then served as the Intelligence Community’s watchdog, wrote to Congress that CIA’s security division had read emails exchanged between congressional staffers and the top official in the Intelligence Community Inspector General office that protects whistleblowers.

CIA security said that the emails were picked up during a “routine counterintelligence (CI) monitoring of Government security systems,” according to McCullough, who provided the details in documents known as Congressional Notifications, or CNs.

“Most of these emails concerned pending and developing whistleblower complaints,” wrote McCullough.

  17. Oprah steps into political ring, where Mike Pence promptly knocks her out
By Rusty Weiss November 4, 2018

Oprah Winfrey hit the campaign trail for Georgia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, while Vice President Mike Pence fired back on behalf of Republican Brian Kemp.

Winfrey spoke at a campaign rally for Abrams, lauding her for such incredibly generic platforms as being the candidate who “cares about the things that matter.” Yeah, that pretty much encompasses everybody on the planet. Nobody sits around and says “Ya know, I only care about the unimportant stuff.”

Oprah tossed in a few other hot buttons that resonate with Democrat voters but amount to very little value such as “common-sense gun control.”

Still, Winfrey said she had no intentions of being affiliated with any particular party. “I’ve earned the right to think for myself. … I don’t want any party and I don’t want any kind of partisan influence telling me what decisions I get to make for myself.”

  18. FB claims message detailing harassment of rabbi by Farrakhan supporters erroneously deleted
By Ben Bowles November 4, 2018

It is becoming an insidious pattern. Facebook deletes an innocuous post. Word of the inexplicable censorship circulates. Facebook restores the post, claiming its removal was a mistake.

The latest post to fit that pattern was filed by Rabbi Avram Mlotek, who describes an experience on a subway train in New York where he was confronted by supporters of Nation of Islam leader and virulent anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.

Here’s the rabbi’s story as told on Facebook.

  19. FBI Arrests Iraqi Refugee in Tucson for Building Car Bomb, Teaching Others

The FBI arrested 30-year-old Ahmad Suhad Ahmad in Tucson, Arizona, last week following a two-year investigation.

According to the limited information contained in the two-page criminal complaint, Ahmad had told a confidential source in December 2016 that he knew how to detonate a bomb using a cell phone — a technique he said he learned during the war in Iraq.

In April 2017, the same confidential source asked Ahmad if he knew how to make a car bomb for a target in Mexico, and if he could show him how to build one. Ahmad agreed.

A week later Ahmad showed the source an image on his cell phone of explosive materials and instructions written in Arabic, which he promised to translate into English. He also met with other sources and undercover FBI agents about planning to build the bomb.

On April 26, 2017, Ahmad traveled with the sources and the FBI undercover agents to an apartment complex in Las Vegas. He brought with him a number of items to build the bomb, including a circuit tester, electrical tape, and Permatex epoxy. The undercover agents also brought items from a list provided by Ahmad.

Over the course of several hours, he built the bomb and explained to the others how to do it. He showed one of the agents where to place the blasting caps and the explosives.

He then supervised the building of a second device. Once completed, he explained how the bombs operated.

Neighbors expressed surprise at his arrest-

Local media reports indicate that in November 2017, Ahmad, who operated a mechanic shop, was arrested for heroin possession and intent to distribute. He was released early as part of a drug-offender transition program on September 28.

Ahmad was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1988. His family fled to Syria when he was 18, and subsequently moved to Tucson as refugees. The FBI criminal complaint identifies Ahmad as a U.S. citizen.

This is the third arrest of an Iraqi refugee in a week.

As I reported earlier, 34-year-old Ashraf al-Safoo was arrested near Chicago and charged with running a pro-ISIS propaganda ring. According to the Justice Department, al-Safoo took orders directly from ISIS officials. Through social media, he spread propaganda on behalf of the terror group, helping ISIS to recruit and encouraging supporters to conduct terror attacks. He was born in Mosul, Iraq. and moved to the U.S. in 2008, and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

And last Wednesday, 19-year-old Naser Almadaoji of Beavercreek, Ohio, was arrested at Columbus International Airport attempting to fly to Kazakhstan, where he planned to cross the border into Afghanistan to join the ISIS affiliate there. The U.S. attorney responsible for the case said Almadaoji came to the U.S. from Iraq about a decade ago.

As noted by the 9/11 Commission Report, Tucson was the home of the first known American al-Qaeda cell, and is the former home of al-Qaeda co-founder Wael Julaidan — who was once the president of the Islamic Center of Tucson — as well as al-Qaeda operative Wadi al-Hage.

In March of this year, Syrian national and Phoenix-area resident Ahmed Alahmedalabdaloklah was convicted by a federal jury for designing, making, and supplying parts for remote-controlled IED initiator switches. They were for roadside bombs for an Iraqi terror group, and were responsible for killing American soldiers. Alahmedalabdaloklah had fled Iraq through Syria and China, and had settled in Arizona where the FBI found him after tracing his fingerprints at an IED factory in Iraq.

Tucson resident Mahin Khan was arrested in July 2016 for seeking weapons and bomb-making instructions from a Pakistani terror group.

Ahmad was arraigned in federal court in Tucson earlier this week, and is scheduled to appear back in court later today, where the FBI and Justice Department may provide more information about his case.

Grosseto, November 2 – A 20-year-old Egyptian man tried to rape a 50-year-old Italian woman in a car park in the centre of Grosseto in southern Tuscany at dawn on Thursday, local sources said Friday.

The man pushed the woman to the floor, punched her and tried to rape her but the woman wriggled away, defended herself and saw him off, police said.

She called the police who caught the man soon after.

The woman suffered a fracture to her face and is in hospital awaiting surgery.

  23. Joan Walsh Takes Offense When Steve Cortez Calls Cop Killer An ‘Illegal Alien’

CNN political commentator and author of “What’s the Matter with White People?” Joan Walsh took offense Thursday night when a former Trump campaign adviser referred to a cop killer who came into the United States illegally as an “illegal alien.”

Walsh appeared on CNN with Don Lemon and former Trump campaign adviser Steve Cortes to discuss a recent campaign video including convicted cop killer Luis Bracamontes.

Cortes claimed, “I’m shocked that we let an illegal alien into this country who then shoots — five times — a black American citizen.”

Walsh quickly cut Cortes off mid-sentence and shouted, “An undocumented immigrant.”

  25. Sheep euthanised after being violently raped by ‘dark skinned man’ in Germany

A German sheep farmer was heavily shocked when he wanted to feed his animals. He caught a man having intercourse with one of his sheep.

The man wanted to feed the sheep in Velden on Saturday morning around 5 am, when he made the shocking discovery.

At the feeding site, the sheep farmer saw a man kneeling behind one of his sheep, in a clear position, during sexual intercourse with the animal.

The stranger fled after he noticed the farmer saw him. The man ran into an electric fence that confined the sheep pasture, and then fled in an unknown direction.

At the scene he left a sock and an earphone. The items were secured for forensic investigation.

A summoned veterinarian diagnosed several injuries of the sheep, which clearly indicated ‘sodomite acts’ by the offender.

According to reports, the sheep suffered from a ruptured rectum through the sexual act. The animal had to be euthanised because of its injuries.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man, about 25 years old, with a slender figure. The police in Vilsbiburg has started an investigation. If you have any suggestions, please call 08741/96270.

This is certainly not the first rape of a sheep in Germany. More than a week ago an African migrant was arrested in the German city of Freiburg for raping several animals and sexually assaulting three women.

  26. Tennessee Bill Would Ban Teaching ‘Doctrine’ Of Islam To Seventh Graders

A Tennessee state legislator has proposed a state law that would prevent public schools from teaching anything about religious principles until students reach the 10th grade.

The bill from Rep. Sheila Butt of Columbia (about 45 miles south of Nashville) comes in response to a grassroots campaign across Tennessee by parents — primarily evangelical parents — against what they perceive as an inappropriate focus on Islam in history and social studies courses in middle schools.

Last month, for example, parents in the Nashville suburb of in Spring Hill expressed alarm because their children in a taxpayer-funded middle school are learning about the Five Pillars of Islam in a world history class. (The first and most important pillar is roughly translated as: “There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God.”) At the same time, the parents say, the course material pointedly ignores Christianity. 27. Why Do Middle Eastern Refugees Vandalize Christian Structures?

    by Burak Bekdil
    November 4, 2018 at 5:00 am

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September, launched a scathing attack on the European Union. He accused the EU of having not done enough to support the refugees and claimed that the EU should pay Turkey more than it pledged (three billion euros).

Erdo?an has often argued that Christian Europe should admit more Muslim refugees. In a 2016 speech, he angrily threatened to open the floodgates of migrants into Europe again (in 2015 alone, three quarters of a million migrants passed through Turkey on their way to Europe).

Is Erdo?an using the mostly Syrian migrants as a bargaining chip to recalibrate his country’s failed admission to the EU? Is he simply carpet-trading by trying to maximize the amount of European money coming as aid into Turkey? No doubt, but not only that. His Islamist ideology dictates that the number of Muslims living in all corners of the Old Continent should one day herald a demographic victory for Islam.

“Occupying infidel lands” by the force of sword was an Ottoman idea. Occupying infidel lands through demographics is one of the features of post-modern Islamism, as Muslim nations, unlike the Ottoman Empire, lack the military might needed for military invasion.

  28. Espinoza: It’s Time for an Official ‘National Day of Remembrance for Americans Killed by Illegal Aliens

Each year since 2011, on the first Sunday of November, The Remembrance Project and other patriotic grassroots groups across America have observed their own National Day of Remembrance for Americans Killed by Illegal Aliens.

This year, it falls on Sunday, November 4. (Click here to see place and time for our Washington, DC, 2018 memorial.) But as hard as we tried, the media would give us little or no coverage, instead choosing to focus massive amounts of biased footage and news coverage sympathetic to the plight of illegal aliens, falsely characterizing illegals as people like us, “just wanting a better life.” But there is an insidious twist to their lies. It’s all happening at our expense!

Since 2009, The Remembrance Project has honored and remembered Americans killed by illegal aliens through our Stolen Lives Quilt by touring the country, in sponsoring many live events, and, most recently, through almost-daily appearances in television or radio interviews. While there are no reliable statistics on illegal alien killings of Americans, there are thousands of real stories of real Americans killed, documented in police reports, the Internet, nightly television news, and on our Stolen Lives Quilt:

  30. The Pittsburgh Massacre

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 995, November 4, 2018

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The claim that the mass murder of worshippers at a synagogue in Pittsburgh was the product of Republican discourse on immigration and citizenship is a cynical ploy to use the trauma to bar conservative positions from the public sphere. An anti-Semitic massacre does not preclude the legitimate positions of an incumbent administration. This attack was triggered not by current political discourse but by the fusion of rabid Jew hatred and a propensity for violence – a combination that unfortunately existed long before the founding of the US.

An explanation for the anti-Semitic massacre in Pittsburgh gained momentum very quickly: that it was a product of Donald Trump’s Republican discourse in general, and his attitude towards immigration and refugee policy in particular. This is a cynical exploitation and politicization of trauma and loss.

We are apparently meant to believe the murderer was a “weakened social link” whose anti-Semitism was legitimated in his mind by the rhetoric of the president. He was supposedly egged on from above, in other words. The “words can kill” message is being employed by the media to take direct aim at Republican policy positions.

Conservative positions concerning identity, nationality, citizenship, the distribution of resources, the rule of law, and internal security are now labeled “populist,” and anyone holding such views is expected to feel ashamed of himself. Jews in particular who hold such views are being told to do some soul-searching, as if it was they who gave the green light to a mass-murdering extremist.

  31. Massive increase of groomed Dutch girls by mostly Muslim men (voiceofeurope, Nov 4, 2018)

“The number of Dutch victims of grooming gangs has massively increased, Gideon van Aartsen of International Children’s Rights Organisation Terre des Hommes tells Dutch newspaper AD.

Van Aartsen, who leads a group of researchers of the grooming phenomenon, says several different tactics are used to groom and prostitute the Dutch girls.

“Minors are set to work in another country [Belgium] as a method to keep them from running away,” the leader of the research group says. According to van Aartsen there’s a massive increase in the number of Dutch ‘loverboy’ victims.

The girls are being groomed, asked to send pictures and blackmailed with these pictures. The men increase the pressure and make the girls prostitute themselves. Some young girls have 20 customers in one day.

The ‘online trade’ of girls is one of the main reasons why Dutch, but also Belgian girls are increasingly prostituted. Girls are being groomed via Telegram, Tinder and school websites.

“It’s big business,” Van Aartsen says. “Sometimes 160 men reply to one advertisement within 48 hours.”

Research shows that 89 per cent of the pimps have migrant origins and 60 per cent are Muslims. They groom young and vulnerable girls via the internet and put them to work as prostitutes.

This year an investigation of newspaper AD showed how 1,400 very young girls are being groomed and abused by mostly migrant men.

To battle the grooming gangs, the Dutch Terre des Hommes department will cooperate with Belgian justice.”

  32. Muslim Network bars German AfD leader from speaking at Oxford University (voiceofeurope, Nov 4, 2018)

“In what some might say resembles fascism, a group of students at Oxford University have called for the no-platforming of the leader of Germany’s largest opposition party and disallowing her from speaking at the Oxford Union.

Alice Weidel is the leader of the anti-migration German party, the AfD, and is whom the Oxford Labour Muslim Network have organised and signed a letter in attempts to block Alice from speaking. The letter was signed by students, professors and alumni.

Alice Weidel, 39, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, was invited to speak by the debating society despite anger from professors and students.

In the most recent German election, the AfD won more than 90 seats in the Bundestag and gained seats in every single German state Parliament.

The letter from the group seemingly unable to allow another opinion for fear of it being received more positively than theirs asks for the Union “to show duty of care and respect for Oxford’s diverse communities” by not allowing…diversity.

It also says: “Platforming hate speech must not be conflated with freedom of speech,” which they say is a “political fig leaf”.

A spokesperson from the Oxford Union has firmly and rightly responded saying: “Alice Weidel is the leader of the largest opposition party in the German Parliament. After Dr Weidel’s speech in the Union’s debating Chamber, members will be welcome to ask her questions, and challenge her views if they wish.”

The leader of Germany’s main right-wing party has pulled out of the talk at the Oxford Union next week, citing security concerns after protests against her appearance.

It’s ironic that Hitler came to power by sending violent thugs to beat, intimidate, and silence those who disagreed with him in public meetings, town halls, and open air events. He silenced his opposition this way and muted freedom of speech, eventually installing himself as one of the worst fascist dictators of the 20th century.

Democracy is only democracy when all views are heard and discussed, dissected and challenged.”

  33. Bluewater stampede: Jittery shoppers sprint for the exits amid shouts of ‘bomb, bomb!’ after collapsing sign sparks terrifying shopping centre panic (dailymail, Nov 4, 2018)

“Hundreds of terrified shoppers ran screaming from a packed shopping centre this afternoon after a bomb scare.

There were scenes of chaos at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent after a menu display board fell down in the dining area, sparking cries of ‘bomb.’

People were heard shouting ‘run’ before hoards of people made for the emergency exit in a state of panic.

The menu board toppled over in the Winter Garden dining area around 2pm this afternoon.

It led to a stampede as people abandoned their food and made for the exit.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing children in tears and people claiming to have ‘heard gun shots’ or a firework within the centre.

Isobel Morrice wrote on Twitter: ‘Just ran for my life out of Bluewater cause people were running and screaming towards the exits. No idea what was going on.’ …”

  34. Islamic schools accused of sex discrimination after segregating boys and girls at break time (telegraph, Nov 4, 2018)

“Two Islamic schools have been reported to the Government for segregating boys and girls on their premises.

The Avecinna Academy and The Wisdom Academy in Birmingham were flagged up for ‘sex discrimination’ by education watchdog Ofsted.

Avecinna was found to be practicing segregation across year groups including during break times while Wisdom was said to be “failing to prepare students for life in modern Britain”.

Ofsted inspectors said in their reports that the mixed sex schools were in breach of the Equality Act 2010.

At Avecinna an independent school for up to 100 pupils aged 11 to 17 boys and girls were found being taught on separate floors of the building.

The Ofsted report reads: “The school operates a policy of segregation by sex. Boys and girls are taught on separate floors of the building in all year groups.

“Boys and girls have their breaks at the same time but have separate playgrounds and are not allowed to mix during break times. When pupils visit places, they do so together. However boys sit at the front of the coach and girls sit at the back.”

Inspectors found that the segregation constituted a breach in the law. The report states: “Ofsted’s view is that the policy of segregation by sex creates a detriment to girls (who are denied the choice to socialise with boys in lessons and during break times and miss out on the educational benefits of doing so) and a detriment to boys (for the same reasons).

“Given this detriment the policy constitutes direct discrimination contrary to the Equality Act 2010. The Secretary of State for Education has been clear that schools which engage in unlawfully discriminatory sex segregation should be given time to make their practice lawful.

“Therefore the school’s breach of the Equality Act 2010 in respect of segregation has not been taken into account when determining inspection judgements.”

At The Wisdom Academy segregation was also found to be disadvantaging pupils in breach of the equality law. The primary school, run by a trust called the United Children’s Foundation was criticised for failing to prepare students for life in modern Britain.

The inspectors found: “The school operates a policy of segregation by sex in all key stage 3 lessons. This segregation is for religious reasons only, rather than for genuine educational reasons and accordingly it is not possible for the ‘positive action’ exception, under section 158 of the Equality Act 2010, to apply.

“The segregation policy causes the following detriment to pupils: a denial of choice offered to the opposite sex. For example, boys cannot choose, in lessons, to interact with girls, and vice versa and therefore they miss out on the educational benefits of doing so, including preparing them for life in modern Britain.

“In key stage 3, boys and girls are not segregated as they move about the corridors or during break times and lunchtimes.”

Both schools have been reported to the Secretary of State with the suggestion that further inspections are commissioned.

Overall inspectors rated both providers as ‘good’, finding that “pupils are safe, well-taught and achieve well” at Avecinna, located on Garrison Lane. At Wisdom the report found: “Pupils achieve well in this school.”

A spokesman for Ofsted said: “We have been working with the Department for Education (DfE) about the next steps for these and other independent schools that we inspected last term and are in similar positions regarding the segregation of pupils.

“We are clear that this is unlawful practice by these schools and that the DfE as the regulator is responsible for ensuring they comply or cease to operate.”

Department for Education guidance states that education providers should not generally separate pupils along lines such as sex, race or faith while at school.

Exceptions include girls or boys suffering a disadvantaging related to their sex or each group’s participation in an activity being disproportionately low.

A spokesperson said: “The department has issued guidance to schools on segregation in mixed schools and where inspection shows that an independent school has segregation that does not accord with this guidance, the department will work with the school so they comply with the Equality Act.”

Avecinna headteacher Mohammed Dahir said: “As you are already well aware the issue surrounding the compliance of the Equality Act 2010 is a matter raised by Ofsted with many schools.

“Our school is in direct contact with Ofsted and the Department for Education. We have from July 2018 taken steps to make sure that the school is in line with DFE regulations.””

  35. French Inmate Accused of Publishing Islamic State Propaganda From Prison (breitbart, Nov 4, 2018)

“A French inmate serving time in Tarascon prison has been accused by investigators of publishing propaganda for the Islamic State terror group using a smuggled phone.

The inmate, identified by his first name Amir, is said to have used a Facebook profile under the name Amiro Amiro to publish Islamic State videos on a phone that was allegedly smuggled into the prison by his sister, La Provence reports.

Amir’s sister has denied that she had smuggled the phone and SIM card used but records show that she had purchased them both.

Amir, who has been in prison since 2012, also denied posting Islamic State videos to the Facebook account, saying that he had shared the phone with other prisoners and only ever used it to send pictures to his family.

When asked directly about the posts Amir said that he was a moderate Muslim and went on to add, “I do not share this ideology, I do not endorse that.”

The 25-year-old, who has been in prison for six years after convictions and reports of violence, theft, drugs, and an allegation of rape, is now scheduled for release in a matter of days but insists he has worked to rehabilitate himself.

“I want to go out, work, reintegrate, I did not ask to be delinquent, my father was an alcoholic, when I went out he said to me: come back at this time, and if I forgot, he locked the door and I stayed outside,” he claimed.

The allegations echo another case in which smuggled mobile phones were used by a pair of radical Islamic extremists to co-ordinate and communicate with Islamic State members. The pair, who were also close to the end of their prison sentences, were found to have been plotting a terror attack upon their release.

According to a report from France’s Minister of Justice Nicole Belloubet earlier this year an estimated 450 radical Islamic extremists are set for release from French prisons by the end of 2019, 50 of whom are considered terror threats.”

  36. Salvini to Save 400 Million Euros by Cutting Migrant Daily Allowance (breitbart, Nov 4, 2018)

“Populist Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini is expected to drastically cut the daily allowance for migrants in Italy, with claims the country could see savings of up to 400 million euros by 2019.

The proposal would see the current daily allowance of 35 euros per day per migrant cut almost in half to 19 euros per day, which would be one of the lowest rates in western Europe, Il Giornale reports.

According to the Interior Ministry, the cuts would lead to a saving of 400 million euros in 2019, rising to 500 million in 2020 and 600 million in the years thereafter.

The move would be part of the broader migration and security decree released by Salvini in late September, which also banned residency permits for so-called humanitarian reasons. Migrants will now be classified into two groups: those with recognized asylum claims and those without.

Those with refugee status and recognized underage migrants will have broader access to funding and government programmes.

Since coming into power, Salvini has managed to greatly reduce the number of migrants coming into Italy by closing Italian ports to migrant rescue NGO vessels who have been accused in the past of co-operating with people smugglers.

After largely dealing with the issue of migrants entering Italy illegally, Salvini has since set his sights on deportations of existing illegals. Earlier this week he announced a new plan to invest 12 million euros to fund the deportation of at least 2,700 illegals starting in February and ending in 2021.

One of the arguments espoused by pro-mass migration open borders advocates has been using mass migration to counter the falling birthrates in western European nations.

Salvini has made his opposition to so-called replacement migration clear, saying: “I believe that I’m in government in order to see that our young people have the number of children that they used to a few years ago, and not to transplant the best of Africa’s youth to Europe.”

In order to convince Italians to have more children, the government has even offered free farmland to couples having three or more children.”

  37. Germany: Far-right activists and antifa face off in Cologne

Far-right activists protested on Cologne’s Neumarkt on Sunday, under the motto “Freedom for Europe”.

An antifa counter-rally also took place, which outnumbered the far-right rally. Both groups protested in the same square, just a stone’s throw away from each other, but were separated by a buffer zone and riot police forces.

Despite coming face to face and taunting, no major escalation was reported.

  38. Majority of Adult Refugees Entered Germany Without Identity Documents – Reports (sputniknews, Nov 4, 2018)

“Almost 60 percent of adult refugees who arrived in Germany in the first half of 2018 did not have any identity documents, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper reported, citing the German Interior Ministry.

The Interior Ministry said, as quoted by the Welt am Sonntag, that it was “aware that half of those who had entered the country intentionally hid their documents, thus trying to increase the chances of obtaining asylum.”

The highest percentage of those who did not have any documents when entering Germany was among the refugees from Nigeria, Somali, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau, amounting to 97-98 percent, according to the newspaper.

Among Algerians, the share of undocumented migrants stood at 95 percent, while the refugees from Eritrea and Afghanistan followed in descending order.

However, only 21 percent of Syrians and 24 percent of Turks did not have identity documents upon arrival in Germany, the outlet noted.

Germany has become one of the countries deeply affected by the migration crisis in Europe, which broke out in 2015 with a huge influx of people fleeing armed conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa.”

  39. Egypt May Soon Ban Niqabs From Public Places – Reports (sputniknews, Nov 4, 2018)

“The debate over a full-face veil ban has ongoing in Egypt for some time already, ever since the Egyptian government took strong, decisive action against political Islam in the wake of the ouster of Islamist President Muhammad Morsi back in 2013.

Egyptian lawmaker Ghada Ajami told Egyptian Streets in a phone interview on Sunday that she had introduced to the country’s parliament a bill that would ban the face veil in public places, citing her concerns over a high percentage of crimes being committed in niqabs.

In the event of non-abidance, the bill stipulates 1,000 EGP ($55) in fines being slapped on women who continue to wear the niqab in public places like restaurants, parks or social and educational institutions. Repeated offenses will carry even higher fines, if the bill becomes law.

Ajami, who is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives, told the Egyptian media outlet that she is going to officially present her draft to the parliament, with an open discussion of it slated for November 11.

“Security troubles in Egypt are accelerating these bold decisions in light of attempts to target state institutions and increasing criminal and terrorist crime rates,” she was earlier cited as saying by Cairo Scene.

By submitting the bill she essentially means to call attention to arrays of men who use women’s veils to commit crimes, including horrendous terrorist acts, in public spots.

“We are currently in an ongoing war against terrorism, we should do our best to end it, the veil or niqab is used by many people as a cover for the crimes that they are committing; it is not part of the personal freedom as some say,” she explained.

Her point of view is being echoed by another lawmaker, Mohamed Abu Hamed, who is said to have been leading the drive to outlaw niqabs in the country.

“Some of the terrorist attacks that happened in the past were carried out by people wearing the niqab,” said Mohamed Abu Hamed, a lawmaker leading the drive for banning the niqab in Egypt. “Some men even wear them to escape police and commit crimes,” The Arab Weekly cited him as saying.

Egypt appears to have resorted to action after an earlier broad discussion on niqab issue, following in the footsteps of another North-African state, Algeria, barring women from wearing the face veil to work.

The Egyptian government has clamped down on political Islam following the ouster of Islamist President Muhammad Morsi, affiliated with the now banned Muslim Brotherhood, in 2013. Salafist political groups, among which niqabs are especially popular, continue to operate in Egypt but their leverage has to a great extent been diminished.

Separately, a range of European nations recently banned burqas, loose floor-length garments, from public spaces, including Denmark, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, with the vast majority justifying the new legislation with similar security concerns.”

    lections have consequences.

With Democrats poised to retake the House and the Republican grasp on the Senate tenuous, it’s vital we remember that mantra.

Fortunately, political success is not determined by polls – but by the number and effectiveness of activists on both sides.

With the midterms now days away, the final hours of every campaign’s GOTV operation should focus on contacting supporters.

That’s something Bikers for Trump instinctively know.

A determined effort by the political organization is paying dividends in rural Ohio, where an under the radar group of Trump supporters, Amish and Mennonite communities, could make all the difference.

The conservative communities ordinarily ride horse-drawn carriages to the poll, but now they’re getting volunteer rides from Bikers for Trump.

    • CBC – Celebrities push for the millennial vote in the U.S. midterms

Oprah, Will Ferrell, Alicia Keys: just some of the celebrities who are part of a big push geared towards getting young voters out for the U.S. midterms.

Millennials have about as much power at the polls as Boomers, but they are far less likely to actually show up on voting day.

Will all these celebrity endorsements be able to change that?

    • the guardian – US midterms divide women in era of #MeToo | Anywhere but Washington

With record numbers of female candidates in the US midterm elections, Paul Lewis travels to New Mexico, where both the Democrat and the Republican standing for a House seat are women.

He finds women divided – over Trump, the MeToo movement, and Deb Halaand, a Democrat campaigning to be the first Native American woman elected to Congress

    • Right. And Canadians can’t be scared into voting because they’re stoned all the time. Wendy Mesley should lose her spot as a ward of the CBC, and they we should lose the CBC.
