          Not making the comparison here, except in the most abstract to demonstrate the cause is not the issue. If they were all descendants of Shakespeare and Einstein, we would not accept that behaviour. It makes zero difference if they can help themselves or not. The fact is, they do these things so you cannot let them in till they can prove they will not.

  4. I am hauling up an exchange I had with Yucki on curiosities of the world economy, whereupon we wondered why Mother Russia is hoarding gold faster than any other country. My suspicion is that an economic “event” is nigh because the ’08 default (make no mistake it was a systemic default) will soon be replayed.

    “So-called “black bloc” suspects in a criminal case, launched after a number of Hamburg city quarters were severely damaged during multiple street protests against the 2017 G20 gathering, are assumed to have arrived in Germany from neighboring European countries.

    Hamburg police have launched a sweeping Europe-wide manhunt for four suspects allegedly involved in riots at the time the northern German city hosted the G20 summit, in July 2017, according to The Deutsche Welle. Photographs featuring three men and a woman have been sent out across the country, with the police urging anyone aware of the individuals’ whereabouts to contact them.

    The persons are suspected of carrying out a number of arson attacks on Elbchaussee Street in Hamburg during the so-called “Welcome to Hell” demonstration on July 6, which the caused damages estimated at 1.5 million euros.

    In the course of the protests on July 6 and 7, 2017, several hundred left-wing activists were reported to have created a “black bloc,” clashing with the police on a city thoroughfare and subsequently near the Schanzenviertel Quarter, the historic fortifications outside the city that protected Hamburg from the Danes in 1686.

    Addressing the issue, Jan Hieber, head of a special commission on the case, said that “these are the top culprits of the G20 riots,” adding that those involved were not demonstrating under their right of assembly, but carrying out a “commando operation that was meant to spread fear and terror.”

    The four are also accused of crimes including the disruption of peace, resisting and assaulting police officers as well as is alleged to have inflicted bodily harm on law enforcement personnel by throwing bottles and stones at officers. They also supposedly looted supermarkets and erected barricades before subsequently burning them.

    The four suspects, who are thought to have possibly arrived from abroad, will now be searched for across a vast number of European countries, namely Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Greece.

    “Swedish policemen admitted that the current system allows jihadists to freely enter the country, whereas people with perfectly legal grounds to stay in the Scandinavian country get detained.

    A Schengen report highlighting the dramatic situation on Sweden’s borders, such as poorly manned border stations, deficient working routines and scarce education among personnel, has been hushed up before the Swedish election, having been likened to “political explosives,” the tabloid daily newspaper Expressen reported.

    The classified report compiled by Schengen inspectors based on interviews with Swedish personnel last year unveiled serious shortcomings and gave Swedish border guards and customs staff an unsatisfactory grade, ranking them “among the worst in Europe.”

    Particularly, the Swedish staff were found to be lacking knowledge about so-called “risk indicators,” which are used to detect Islamists. The report also identified the lack of relevant knowledge for detecting counterfeit documents, such as false passports.

    Remarkably, the situation at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which serves 26 million passengers each year, making it the largest air transit hub in the country, was found to be worst. However, the inspectors even found the situation in Skåne, Sweden’s southernmost province, to be bad enough to summon Frontex, EU’s border control authority, to help Sweden maintain its border, just as it did in Greece.

    “The report showed what we already knew, that we’re running a pure Donald Duck business,” a source within the Stockholm border police said. “There is no actual border control, no registry search, only ID checks.”

    While the source admitted the possibility of returning jihadists to slip in, many people admittedly end up being wrongly deprived of their liberty since they are met by staff who aren’t trained in legal methodology or the duties of civil servants.” According to policemen interviewed by Expressen, the most serious consequence is “locking up people on completely wrong grounds.”

    Furthermore, several policemen testified to having been told by their superiors that that outcome of the Schengen inspectors was tantamount to “political explosives.”

    “I was at a meeting when [chief of border police unit in Stockholm] Liselotte Ström said the report was politically sensitive and that it should therefore be withheld until the general election was completed,” a policeman told Expressen; his words were corroborated by his colleagues.

    While Ström explicitly denied having said those words, emphasizing that the final draft of the report isn’t ready yet, police sources stressed that there is a possibility that its publication may be delayed due to it being sent back and forth the responsible authorities.

    According to internal email conversations, the draft of the report was available to police chiefs in early January, whereas the final version was expected to reach the Justice Ministry and the Border Inspectorate in early February.

    Despite the alleged “precautions,” however, the September 9 general election became a disaster for the Social Democrats, resulting in the worst-ever result for Sweden’s ruling party in over a century.”

    Iranian parents Mitra Eidiani, 42, and Ali Safaraei, 56, who live in south London, are also alleged to have threatened to kill their daughter Sophia Safaraei and her boyfriend.

    In a statement read to Kingston Crown Court today, Doctor Helen Lewis said that Ms Mitra had responded to her refusal to carry out the check by telling her she did not understand her and Mr Safaraei’s culture.

    ‘Sophia said she didn’t want to be examined by anyone,’ the statement read.

    ‘I explained to Sophia I could not even touch her without her permission and I would not examine her unless she consented to this.

    ‘Mitra voiced unhappiness with this. She said I didn’t understand her culture and then called Sophia’s father, Ali Sarafaei, who was waiting outside.

    ‘She told me he was strict, not liberal like her, and would insist on me performing a virginity test.’

    Doctor Lewis said the Ms Eidiani then drew unfavourable comparisons between her family’s culture and ‘your’ culture (referring to the UK) as Mr Safaraei threatened to go to the police while Sophia appeared tearful.

    The jury heard Sophia told police she was from a ‘strict Muslim family’, but defending Eidiani, John Skinner said that ‘was not really true’.

    Sophia said ‘it was more of their upbringing than mine’, adding: ‘There’s more of the culture than religion’…”

    “West Yorkshire Police have moved towards adopting an Islamic “modesty culture”, trialling a new loose fitting and lower hanging tunic “designed not to show the female form”.

    The new Islamic-style uniforms have reportedly been welcomed by the local community in Bradford and a number of Muslim groups in the area.

    Police say the garment is part of an effort to recruit more black and minority ethnic (BAME) officers.

    Assistant Chief Constable Angela Williams told Breitbart London is a statement: “West Yorkshire Police is working extremely hard to ensure that we are representative of the communities we serve.

    “We know that we need to do more to increase the proportion of police officers from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) in the Force and there’s still more that we can do.

    “We have Positive Action Ambassadors and Community Engagement Officers actively working to improve BAME representation.

    “For the last month we have been trialling a new uniform for women which is designed not to show the female form. This was suggested by a Muslim female officer and was designed by our Clothing Manager in conjunction with the officer.

    “The tunic is a looser and longer fit, and has full sleeves. This has been well-received from officers in the Force and we have now made further supplies of this uniform for other officers to trial it if they wish.

    “PC Firzana Ahmed [Pictured above, centre right], who works in Bradford, has been trialling it and has had some really positive feedback from the local community.”

    She added: “I hope this uniform will encourage people from underrepresented groups to consider a career in policing if they had previously been put off joining the force due to the uniform.

    “We are open to suggestions from all communities on how our uniform can be styled to better suit their needs.”

    According to the 2011 census, the city of Bradford was almost 27 percent Asian or Asian British and has one of the largest Muslim communities in the UK, making up nearly a quarter of the population.

    Officers said they are seeking to address concerns about BAME women in the force after questions about alleged “bias” at a public crime panel, the Yorkshire Post reports.

    Chief Constable Dee Collins said that, for some women, concerns about the existing uniform’s design could be putting them off.

    She also revealed they were developing mentoring programmes to help people from BAME backgrounds to complete application forms, insisting they often go on to do well in interviews.

    “Is it a confidence issue? Is it a trust issue? Possibly around things as simple as uniform,” she said.

    Ms Collins said officers had met with the Muslim Women’s Council in Bradford and “showed them a redesign of the uniform”.

    “We are absolutely all over this. I am absolutely determined we will continue to improve these figures. We need to, we absolutely need to,” she added.

    Many UK police forces, including London’s Metropolitan Police Service, have allowed Muslim women to wear a headscarf as part of their uniform for many years and the West Midlands force has even considered allowing full-face veils.”

    “An Italian priest has been kidnapped in a part of Niger where a number of extremist groups are active, the West African nation said Tuesday.

    Government spokesman Zakaria Abdourahmane said authorities had not been aware the priest was in the country’s southwest near the Burkina Faso border. He said investigations have begun to find the attackers and free the priest. No further details were immediately available.

    The Rev. Pierluigi Maccalli is a member of the Society of African Missions religious order. In Niger he had promoted initiatives to encourage an end to the cultural practice of female genital mutilation, which had sparked some local opposition to him, according to the Fides missionary news agency in Rome.

    In Rome, the Italian foreign ministry said it had asked local authorities in Niger’s capital, Niamey, to give “absolute priority” to resolving the kidnapping but asked that they avoid “any initiative that could put Father Maccalli at risk.”

    Burkina Faso’s border with Niger and Mali is home to extremists who kidnap and kill officials, sometimes in connection with other Islamic extremist groups in West Africa’s vast Sahel region. Attacks have risen in the past year as young men frustrated by poverty become radicalized.

  15. Putin sees chance circumstances behind downing of Russian plane in Syria

    MOSCOW/JERUSALEM, Sept 18 (Reuters) – President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that the shooting down of a Russian military plane near Syria’s seacoast was the result of a chain of tragic and chance circumstances.

    Russia’s Defence Ministry said earlier that the aircraft was shot down by Syrian anti-aircraft systems, but accused Israel of indirectly causing the incident, saying Israeli jets nearby had put the Russian plane in the path of danger. The ministry threatened to retaliate over what it called a hostile act.

    Putin’s comments, made after talks with Hungary’s prime minister in Moscow, appeared to somewhat defuse the situation though he said Russia needed to look further into what happened.

    “I looks most likely in this case that it was a chain of tragic chance events, because an Israeli aircraft did not shoot down our aircraft. But, without any doubt we need to seriously get to the bottom of what happened,” Putin told reporters.

    Putin said Moscow’s response would aim at securing the safety of Russian military personnel in Syria’s complex civil war in which various outside powers have backed opposing sides.

  16. Russians could face jail for not deleting news judged ‘fake’

    Russians who refuse to take down online information that has been judged “false” by a court could be sentenced to up to a year in prison under a bill approved by MPs Tuesday in a key second reading.

    Deputies in parliament’s lower house voted to approve the measure that would apply to individuals on social media as well as to those working for media groups.

    Senators and President Vladimir Putin still have to sign off on the bill following a formal third reading in parliament.

    The law comes in the context of an ongoing crackdown on internet freedoms in Russia, where social media remains one of the few places the opposition can organise.

    Those who break the rules outlined in the bill could also be subject to a 50,000-ruble ($740, 630-euro) fine, according to an approved text distributed on the judicial site pravo.ru.

    Russia has in recent years increasingly criminalised online content, frequently jailing people for sharing or publishing information deemed extremist or illegal, including for calls for opposition protests and jokes deemed offensive to particular social groups.

    The law currently forbids the sharing of content judged extremist, though rights groups say this label is also applied to opposition material.

    “This new law, if it is adopted, will constitute a new attack on freedom of expression in Russia,” Agora International Human Rights Group lawyer Irina Khrunova told AFP.

    She said the move would target the likes of Alexei Navalny, the opposition leader and blogger who has used sites like Youtube to diffuse investigations into corruption among top officials.

    TOKYO (AP) — Electric drones booked through smartphones pick people up from office rooftops, shortening travel time by hours, reducing the need for parking and clearing smog from the air.

    This vision of the future is driving the Japanese government’s “flying car” project. Major carrier All Nippon Airways, electronics company NEC Corp. and more than a dozen other companies and academic experts hope to have a road map ready by the year’s end.

    Google’s Street View cars — the global cruisers that collect data for the making of more accurate maps — now have a new mission, and it’s one that’s sure to make the Green groups cheer.     Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is facing what seems to be a defamation attack similar to last year’s accusations against Alabama Judge Roy Moore.

    President Trump has rejected the idea of withdrawing the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh, and said his confirmation could come with a delay to allow time to investigate the allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

  22. Kavanaugh accuser’s lawyer is with Soros-funded activist group

    Daniel Greenfield reported on Monday at FrontPage that the lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford, accuser of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is the vice chair of the board of directors for the Project on Government Oversight (POGO), a Soros-funded “watchdog” group.

    The lawyer is Debra Katz, founding partner of the Washington, D.C. firm Katz, Marshall, & Banks.

    Greenfield links to a letter POGO sent to the Senate in August “demanding Kavanaugh records.” It seems like a hundred years ago, but that was the big scandal the Democrats and media were trying to create at the time (in reality, three weeks ago): a false impression that “Kavanaugh records” were being insufficiently disclosed.

    The POGO board’s vice chair has moved on since then. Greenfield notes her history of donating thousands to Democratic PACs and Hillary Clinton. Timothy Meads has the same information at Townhall.

    Meads also recounts Katz’s interesting opinion on Paula Jones’s complaint against Bill Clinton, expressed by Katz back in 1998.     • We all knew this was a hit job from day one, this evidence is just one more nail in the coffin of the credibility of anyone nor reporting that this is a hit job to destroy Judge Kavanaugh and scare all other conservatives who are thinking of accepting a position on the Federal Judiciary or running for political office. With a little luck Judge Kavanaugh will be approved which will change the Court for at least one if not two decades and given what Ginsburg is looking like she probably doesn’t have much longer to live.     President Trump on Monday ordered the Justice Department and FBI to immediately declassify key documents related to the FBI’s investigation on Russian actions during the 2016 presidential election — including text messages from former FBI Director James Comey and other top officials.

    The demand for declassification, announced by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a statement, comes roughly two weeks after a dozen Republican lawmakers called on the president to do it.

    The process to declassify will likely not be immediate, as the documents still have to be examined by the Justice Department, FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

  25. Brett Kavanaugh is already guilty of sexual assault … according to Democratic standards

    The Washington Examiner’s David Drucker states the obvious in a column out today titled “Republicans’ midterm election prospects suffer fresh blow with Kavanaugh doubts.” But Republican control of the House is not the only potential victim of this latest Democratic ploy to delay the vote on his confirmation. Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s entire future career as jurist also likely hangs in the balance.

    If the Democrats gain control of the House, which was looking likely before the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh became an issue, he will not only not be confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice. Democrats will very probably bring articles of impeachment against him to have him removed from his post as a U.S. circuit judge.

    And don’t expect a positive performance at the congressional jury of inquiry next Monday to save his bacon. By Democratic standards, he is already guilty. Former Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer was on on MSNBC’s “Hardball” Monday night, where she said:

    Color of Change, a radical leftist group campaigning to censor conservatives and right-leaning groups, exploited the 2015 Charleston church shooting to go after the David Horowitz Freedom Center. The Freedom Center’s investigations had exposed Color of Change, but the leftist group’s campaign to silence the Center briefly succeeded last month.

    “Bloodmoney,” Color of Change’s smear campaign, seeks to shut down the fundraising abilities of conservative organizations by pressuring credit card companies and payment processors to deny access to conservative groups blacklisted by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

    Color of Change falsely accuses all of these groups of promoting violence and white supremacy.

    Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, endured the FBI’s most thorough background check. This background check applies to a judge who will only review laws passed by Congress. In recent years a case has been building that those who seek to make the law should be subject to same scrutiny.

    As PBS noted in 2016, “prospective justices are put through the nation’s most thorough background check, an invasive process where nothing is off-limits.” In this process, “candidates’ taxes, writings, childhoods, business dealings, medical histories and, yes, love lives, are all scrutinized for potential red flags.”

    Justice Anthony Kennedy sat through more than 10 hours of FBI interviews and a three-hour session with the attorney general and White House counsel. The questions included: “have you ever engaged in kinky sex? Did you shoplift as a kid? What about any associations with groups like the Klu Klux Klan? Ever abuse a girlfriend? Engage in cruelty to animals? And tell us about sex in college: How often, how many women, and did you ever contract a venereal disease?

    In 2009, Sonia Sotomayor was asked whether anyone in the president’s office had asked her about cases then before the court. She was also asked to list “every opinion she’d authored,” every time she’d recused herself and every legal event she’d attended since joining the district court.

  32. Keith Ellison domestic violence accuser says Democratic party doesn’t believe her story

    The woman who accused Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison of domestic abuse said on Monday that Democrats don’t believe her story and threatened to isolate her over the allegations.

    Karen Monahan, a former girlfriend, came forward last month alleging that Ellison sent her threatening text messages and once screamed obscenities at her as he dragged her off a bed by her feet.

    Ellison has denied the accusations, saying he “never behaved this way.” He did acknowledge he was in a relationship with the woman.

    The allegations didn’t lead to any immediate action against the congressman, except for the announcement that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) would review the accusations. He went on to win the Democratic primary election for Minnesota attorney general.

    After years of decline, the number of violent attacks against U.S. Border Patrol agents is on the rise as the U.S./Mexico border grows more violent.

    There were 856 violent assaults on agents in 2017, a marked increase from the 381 recorded in 2014.

    But both numbers are lower than the 1,089 assaults recorded in 2010. The low number in 2014 correlates to an explosion in the number of women and children who that year flooded the U.S. border from Central America seeking asylum, which tied up agents.

  49. Knife-wielding migrant stabs policeman in Brussels park

    Note the enemedia narrative — “Belgian media outlets have reported that the attacker, who hit the policeman in the head, was a migrant who retaliated after police had woken a group of them sleeping in the park.”

    Witnesses have claimed that one migrant panicked and hit one of the police officers on the head with his fist.

    When police used pepper spray to overpower him, he took out a knife and slashed towards the head of one of the officers, before another policeman opened fire.

    The officer attacked was reportedly ‘lightly’ injured while the suspect is said to be in a serious condition.

    Police said that the full details of the incident, which unfolded around 9.15 this morning, were not yet clear. They gave no details on the suspect’s identity.

    A spokeswoman for the Brussels prosecutor’s office said the incident did not appear to be terror related.

    Prosecutors said in a statement that the man, who was not identified, had pulled out the knife when police tried to get him to move away from some government offices.

    A local resident, who would only identify himself as Aziz, told the Associated Press that he heard at least two shots.

    ‘I heard a gunshot. Then two or three. Then a guy fell down on the ground and the police were shouting “drop the knife, drop the knife”, and the guy fell on the ground.’
