      • Remember the video posted a few weeks ago about the death of culture and beauty? She and others are following the idea of Ugly is Beautiful, alternate theory, if you have seen a picture of her when she isn’t smiling she is unattractive, the Raman hair keeps you from looking at her face.

        • “Remember the video posted a few weeks ago about the death of culture and beauty?”

I hope you recall how I asked Eeyore to place it on this site’s front page. It was a goodie and deserves much wider circulation.

      • The twitter comments were interesting but showed a very large lack of knowledge in how the US governments works. The High Schools need to start teaching civics like they did when I was in High School.

Congress can investigate but can’t order the arrest of anyone or order the trial of anyone unless it is an impeachment trial. Yes I know they could send the Sergent at Arms out to grab her and hold her in the small holding cell in the Capital Building but that has never been done. What Congress has the authority to do is refer the matter to the DOJ so they can arrest and prosecute the people. In this case the Attorney General is setting on the side lines and the rest of the top layers of both the DOJ and the FBI are involved in the matter to one degree or another. They aren’t going to prosecute themselves and unless the Repubs win more seats in the midterms and the 2020 elections it is unlikely that there will be any impeachments and even if there are impeachments they still need the DOJ to prosecute those impeached.

Welcome to the national nightmare, there is very little chance of this being resolved peacefully.

  1. Pakistan: At least 12 killed in suicide bomb attack on election rally

A suicide bomber killed a secular party leader and 11 of their supporters at an election rally in the north-western city of Peshawar late Tuesday.

According to local police, the attack targeted a rally for Haroon Ahmed Bilour, an Awami National Party (ANP) candidate for a provincial seat. The explosion occurred shortly after the politician arrived at the campaign event, where he was due to address his supporters.

Bilour was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his wounds.

Another 35 people were reportedly injured in the attack, including Bilour’s 16-year-old son.

Haroon Bilour’s party governed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from its capital Peshawar between 2008 and 2013.

His father, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, a senior ANP leader, was also killed by a suicide blast in the same city back in 2012.

Pakistan will hold national and provincial elections on July 25.

  2. This is a thanks to HR for giving us all a speech that I have wanted for some time as I totally agree with Crichton in most points: http://www.s8int.com/crichton.html
    Two points:
1)My beef with SETI is that I want proof not that they exist but that they are NOT aggressive and flooding the universe with our “greetings” without care is tantamount to suicide IMO. The assumption that Hi Tec goes with high ethics is ridiculous as it is war that forces technology.
    2) His comment:”Faith is defined as the firm belief in something for which there is no proof.” I agree with this totally and so classify atheism as a faith as there is absolutely NO evidence to support it and the rigid way that atheists evangelize, and throw heresy charges in all directions when questioned is absolute proof of this. I find that this is the best way to deal with them in debates if you do not mind the resulting fan spray. For the record I am a confirmed agnostic and see Feynman’s opinion of them to be absolutely typical of everything in that article and of him in particular. He was a marvellous lecturer (Still have his notes ..somewhere)but IMO a closed mind and so typical of the STEM academics. They do not need leftism as they already have their Dominicans.

    • “This is a thanks to HR…”

Darling Michelle, I’ll try to be as gentle as possible about this.

It’s NR (i.e., NorseRadish), and please accept my deep gratitude for your appreciation of Crichton. He was a true genius and our world is reduced by his passing.

“1) My beef with SETI is that I want proof not that they exist but that they are NOT aggressive and flooding the universe with our “greetings” without care is tantamount to suicide IMO. The assumption that Hi Tec goes with high ethics is ridiculous as it is war that forces technology.”

Please be advised that SETI is an ENTIRELY passive monitoring system that does not transmit outgoing signals. It is strictly in a “search” configuration.

I could not agree with you more with respect to Stephen Hawking’s deathbed admonition. The possibility of drawing to this incredibly fecund, priceless blue-green orb, some totally uninvited, and potentially virulent aliens was, perhaps, his last and best bequest to humanity.

We had best begin to pay close attention, or risk all out of sheer stupidity.

As to item number two, I’d need several pages to give it proper attention.

Again, I am sincerely grateful for your willingness to recognize Crichton.

Few writers like him will come our way anytime soon. He may not rank up there with Old Bill, Dickens or Twain, but his body of work still whipped the everliving crap out of most >cough/cough< fecking overpaid ink-stained wretches.

      • EDIT:

Few writers like him will come our way anytime soon. He may not rank up there with Old Bill, Dickens or Twain, but his body of work still whipped the everliving crap out of most fecking overpaid ink-stained wretches like Stephen King, Danielle Steele, and Sidney Sheldon.

PS: For some true reading joy, try Ken Follett. His “Pillars of the Earth” was a triumph of Old World history and cathedral construction. I gleefully read every of his works that come my way.

        • his body of work still whipped the everliving crap out of most fecking overpaid ink-stained wretches like Stephen King, Danielle Steele, and Sidney Sheldon.

The thing to remember is that all three of the authors you mentioned were considered hack authors while they were alive. King Steele and Sheldon write to be considered great authors not realizing that great authors write to make the people happy. Example Dashell Hammett, he lived with Lillian Helmet and was allowed into the literary society meetings because he was with her. He suffered great pangs of guilt over his lack of talent in writing great literature. All of his books are still in print and I wish someone would collect, edit and publish his short stories. The only thing of hers that is in print is the forward to one of his books she wrote.

Hint to all wanna be authors, write to entertain and with luck your works will survive, write to please the intelligentsia and you works will be forgotten within a year of your death.

          • “The thing to remember is that all three of the authors you mentioned were considered hack authors while they were alive.”

Thank you, Richard, for the informed reply. From the high hoseajas I’ve had to endure (especially about formula-writer King), it’s still difficult to accept how these sort of hacks ever got rich.

            Then again, as Mencken observed:

“No one in this world, so far as I know – and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me – has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.”

“Hint to all wanna be authors, write to entertain and with luck your works will survive, write to please the intelligentsia and you works will be forgotten within a year of your death.”

Too right! Please permit me to close with one of my absolute favorite quotes from Ben Franklin:

“If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing.”

Too bad that King, Steele, and Sheldon couldn’t even rise to meet that most basic challenge. They don’t even deserve to be called “scribblers”.

        • NR – HRH NR?
I may as well let you know: I’m allergic to radishes.
          Deathly, EPI-Pen allergic.

          • “HRH NR?”

Nope. Just your everyday garden variety of mildly irritating vitriol. No royalty involved.

PS: You’ll never need your EPI-Pen around me.

        • “As a result of a GSW to the head I am totally deaf on the right and partially blind but I admit no real excuse. Your timbre which is certainly more Horse than Norse fooled me.”

So far as I’m concerned, that’s one helluva fine excuse. Go ahead and call me HR for however long it makes you happy. Please, stay strong, Michelle. This site would be a very much poorer place without you.

PS: You are not the first woman to have commented about me being “more Horse than Norse”, but that’s an inappropriate topic for polite discussion.

    • This stupidity started in Europe in the early days of cell phones, someone over there was making a handgun that looked like a cell phone and fired 4 .22 long rifle rounds. It failed with abt 18 months of production starting and this will do the same. About the only people who will buy one are the people who want to put one into their collection of odd and stupid handgun ideas. There are a lot of odd ideas for firearms that were made, failed and now many decades after their introduction are valuable because only a few have survived.

No I don’t want one, in fact I would reject one as a gift or as a prize in a contest.

  3. Danish Party Wants to Punish Parents for Sex Abuse by Minors (sputniknews, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201807111066251825-denmark-minors-sex-abuse-parents/

“The proposal for harsher laws pertaining to minors committing sexual assault has come in the midst of a high-profile case, in which six youths of non-Danish descent were charged with the rape and attempted rape of five girls aged 13 to 16 in northern Zealand.

The right-wing Danish People’s Party has proposed punishing close relatives of juveniles if they defend or condone sexual assaults by minors in their custody, an idea supported by legal experts, the daily newspaper Berlingske reported.

Danish People’s Party immigration spokesman Martin Henriksen has pledged to present this idea to Justice Minister Søren Pape Poulsen, once parliament returns from the summer break.

“If, say, a child commits rape, and it can be proven that parents have neglected their duty of care and bear responsibility for their children becoming this way, it should be fully possible to punish the parents,” Henriksen said.

The Danish People’s Party, which is currently part of the Danish government and maintains a hard line against immigration, also wants to deport parents of children found guilty of crimes when possible.

The proposal for harsher laws pertaining to minors came in the midst of a high-profile case, in which six youths of non-Danish descent were recently charged with the rape and attempted rape of five girls aged 13 to 16 in northern Zealand.

While a local policeman described the events as a “self-service table” and “thoroughly unheard of,” local parents have supported their children by saying rape had not taken place and that the girls didn’t tell the truth about what had happened. The Danish People’s Party wants to make this sort of behavior punishable under the new law.

The idea received a warm welcome in Danish legal milieus. Law professor Ole Hasselbalch of Aarhus University said that tightening laws in this way was fully possible from a legal perspective. He also stressed that rules that allow parents to be punished for offences committed by children already exist, as encouraging someone to commit violence already is a crime.

Jørn Vestergaard, a professor of criminal law at the University of Copenhagen, stressed that it was not a Danish tradition to punish someone for the crimes of others, but argued that doing so nevertheless was fully possible. However, he also stressed that enforcing such rules in a meaningful and effective way would be much more difficult, as it is hard to determine whether parents exercise control over the child and whether the punishment will be neither reasonable nor helpful.

By contrast, the Danish People’s Party’s government allies, the Liberals, have argued that the call for parental punishment was unrealistic. According to the Liberals, the police would have a hard time proving that parents actually goad their children into committing sexual offences.

“This will be pretty impossible to enforce in practice,” Liberals legal spokesman Preben Bang Henriksen told Berlingske, dismissing the idea as a “parade proposal.”

At present, the minimum criminal age in Denmark is 15 years.”

I still maintain that these matters can be solved at any nearby hardware store.

  4. Egypt says security forces kill 11 militants in Sinai (alaraby, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/7/11/egypt-says-security-forces-kill-11-militants-in-sinai

“Egypt’s official news agency says security forces killed at least 11 suspected militants in a shootout in the northern Sinai Peninsula.

MENA quoted an unnamed security official Wednesday as saying that the fighting erupted when forces raided a hideout in the city of al-Arish.

It says security forces dismantled two explosive devices and seized weapons.

It did not say when the raid took place or whether any security forces were killed or wounded.

Egypt heavily restricts media access to the northern Sinai.

Egypt has been battling militants for years, but the Sinai-based insurgency gained strength after the 2013 overthrow of elected Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, who remains in prison.

In February, Egypt launched a massive operation against militants in Sinai and other parts of the country.”

  5. ‘Go home right now’: Yemeni refugees spark racist backlash in South Korea (alaraby, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/7/11/yemeni-refugees-spark-racist-backlash-in-south-korea

“A few hundred asylum-seekers from Yemen have sparked an unprecedented wave of xenophobia in ethnically homogenous South Korea, echoing the anti-immigrant sentiment that has swept Europe and helped propel Donald Trump to the White House.

More than a million migrants arrived in Germany after its borders were opened in 2015 to asylum-seekers – many fleeing war – which deeply divided the country and its neighbours.

And the United States, by far the world’s most popular destination for migrants, detains thousands of illegal arrivals at its border with Mexico every month. President Trump has vowed to build a wall to keep them out of the country.

But when just 550 or so people from war-ravaged Yemen arrived over several months in South Korea, the reaction was uncompromising.

“Is the government crazy? These are Muslims who will rape our daughters!” was one of the top comments, liked by thousands, on Naver, the country’s top Internet portal.

Hundreds protested in Seoul last month urging authorities to “kick out fake refugees” while nearly 700,000 – a record – signed a petition on the presidential website calling for tightening what are already some of the world’s toughest refugee laws.

“Europe may have historical baggage with countries (former colonies)… but South Korea has no such moral obligation,” the petition said.

Refugees are largely an alien concept in the Asian country where only around four percent of the population are foreigners, mostly from China and Southeast Asia.

Discrimination against them is widespread. Many are openly mocked on public transport for being “dirty” or “smelly”, and refused entry to fancy restaurants or public baths.

A government survey in 2015 showed that 32 percent of South Koreans do not want a foreigner as a neighbour – far higher than 14 percent in the US and China’s 12.2 percent.

The Yemenis took advantage of visa-free access to the tourist island of Jeju. The loophole, intended to boost visitors to the destination, has been closed to other Yemenis following the uproar.

A recent opinion poll showed about half of South Koreans oppose accepting the Yemeni asylum-seekers, with 39 percent in favour and 12 percent undecided.

Park Seo-young, a 20-year-old college student from Daejeon, was against.

“I heard that Yemen has a very poor record in women’s rights… and I’m afraid that the island will become more dangerous than before and the crime rate will go up,” she told AFP.

Another student, Han Eui-mi, added: “Why should they come all the way to Korea when there are many countries nearby?”

    ‘Dead bodies everywhere’

Around 40 of the new arrivals are staying at a nondescript hotel in Jeju City…”

    • “But when just 550 or so people from war-ravaged Yemen arrived over several months in South Korea, the reaction was uncompromising.

“Is the government crazy? These are Muslims who will rape our daughters!” was one of the top comments, liked by thousands, on Naver, the country’s top Internet portal.”

Yoo hoo. Big red truck!!! You’ve imported hundreds of some of this world’s most primitive hairless apes. Proceed at your own risk.

      • Much as I intensely dislike South Korea’s (Japonesque-style) economic war against America, it’s better to have civilized societies openly rebelling against the contrived injection of Muslim scum into their midst.

For anyone willing to endure subtitles, please wander off to Hulu and watch the following:

        Boys Over Flowers

Truly one of the most astounding series this inveterate film snob has ever seen. In a disk-crash lost document, I counted well-over a dozen internal references to this world’s most famous folk lore and legends (i.e., fairy tales). Miss this and miss some truly amazing performances.

        Oasis

Despite an unbearably annoying rectal cavity of a leading man, the role played (as a sufferer of cerebral palsy) by leading lady, So-Ri Moon, is simultaneously mind-bending and heart-wrenching. From her incredible depth of performance, it is almost impossible to imagine that she was not so-afflicted. You’ll want a box of Kleenex™ for this one.

Iris and Athena: Goddess Of War

A superb, two-part series, multi-million dollar global production chockablock with action, suspense, and the usual spy-thriller rigmarole. Shot at several international locations, it delivers in spades.

Now, imagine watching hours of solid entertainment without any:

        • Gratuitous violence
        • Gratuitous sex
        • Gratuitous profanity

… and where sexual modesty is a virtue, instead of an object of ridicule.

South Korean cinema makes Hollywierd look like the cesspool it is.

Trust me … worth the subtitles.

  6. Turkey arrests Muslim televangelist fond of ‘dancing girls’ (alaraby, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/7/11/turkey-arrests-muslim-televangelist-fond-of-dancing-girls

“An Islamic creationist and televangelist fond of being surrounded by scantily clad dancing women he calls his “kittens” has been arrested in Turkey.

Adnan Oktar, known as Harun Yahya, was arrested at his home in Çengelköy on the Asian side of Istanbul over accusations including forming a criminal gang, fraud and sexual abuse, Istanbul police headquarters said on Wednesday.

At least 80 others were also detained during raids across the country, police said, with warrants for a total of 235 people.

State-run Anadolu Agency described the major operation as having been spread across five provinces and that searches of properties were continuing.

His female companions are believed to be among those sought by police including 106 women in Istanbul, Ankara as well as the southern cities of Mugla and Antalya.

Oktar, who is regarded by critics as a cult leader, hosts talk shows on his television channel, A9, on which he has discussed Islamic values and sometimes dances with heavily made-up, surgically enhanced young women and sings with young men, his “lions”.

In 2006 he wrote The Atlas of Creation, arguing that Darwin’s theory of evolution is at the root of global terrorism.

Oktar first came to media attention in the 1990s when he was the leader of a sect caught up in multiple sex scandals. As a result, he had faced similar criminal charges of setting up a criminal organisation.

In February, Turkey’s television watchdog suspended a television programme hosted by Oktar that blended theological discussion and dancing, saying it violated gender equality and belittled women.”

  7. ‘Brutalised Climate’: Germany to Combat Rise in Bullying of Jewish Students (breitbart, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2018/07/11/brutalised-climate-germany-to-combat-rise-in-bullying-of-jewish-students/

“A sharp rise in attacks on Jewish students in the German school system has prompted authorities to recruit 170 anti-bullying experts to combat the problem.

“Anti-Semitism in schools is a big problem,” Families Minister Franziska Giffey conceded as she announced the plan, adding “we have to take religious bullying in classrooms and schoolyards very seriously.”

Last month Germans were shocked by the case of a boy aged 15 taunted by anti-Semitic bullies at the John F Kennedy School in a well-off area of Berlin.

Twelve-months before, beatings and abuse from Muslim classmates were cited by the parents of a Jewish teenager as the reason they removed him from a leading Berlin school.

Ms Giffey, a centre-left Social Democrat (SPD) politician, said teachers needed more support to combat anti-Semitism, as the problem went beyond the classroom, involving parents and society at large.

“So in the coming school year, as a first step, we will send 170 anti-bullying experts into selected schools in Germany, funded by the federal authorities,” she told the daily Rheinische Post.

It remains unclear if the Jewish boy bullied at the John F Kennedy School will return there after the summer, the Berliner Morgenpost daily reports. The bilingual school in Zehlendorf teaches German and American children.

Reports say one bully blew e-cigarette smoke in the boy’s face, saying “that should remind you of your forefathers” – a reference to the Holocaust.

Bullies also reportedly drew swastikas on post-it notes and stuck them on the boy’s back.

As Breitbart Jerusalem has reported, anti-Semitism is rising in a variety of forms in Germany, and is being found to include criticism of the modern state of Israel in general and Jews in particular.

The Independent Expert Group on anti-Semitism published its findings in Germany last year. It found Jews are “increasingly concerned for their safety due to everyday experiences of anti-Semitism” as the number surveyed who agreed with anti-Semitic statements rose from 28 per cent in 2014 to 40 per cent in 2016.

In an interview with the daily Der Tagesspiegel, the German government’s new anti-Semitism tsar, Felix Klein, recently spoke of “a brutalised climate now, in which more people feel emboldened to say anti-Semitic things on the internet and in the street”.

Teachers in some of Berlin’s most heavily migrant-populated schools have also complained that they are seeing a large increase in bullying along religious lines, primarily from Muslim students.

Hildegard Greif-Gross, director of the Peter Petersen Elementary School in Neukölln, claimed that there are many examples of religious bullying even with younger students. Greif-Gross said that Muslim students would bully others on as little as bringing a ham sandwich for their lunch because they were taught pork is forbidden in Islam, Berliner Zeitung reports.

“Even gummy bears are not considered clean,” Greif-Gross added noting that Muslims objected to the use of gelatin which is a beef byproduct and may not have been halal slaughtered.”

    • “A sharp rise in attacks on Jewish students in the German school system has prompted authorities to recruit 170 anti-bullying experts to combat the problem.”

Germany? … Antisemitism? … Ya gotta be farking kidding me!!!

    • “Greif-Gross said that Muslim students would bully others on as little as bringing a ham sandwich for their lunch because they were taught pork is forbidden in Islam, Berliner Zeitung reports.”

Nothing that several serious beat-downs and prolonged hospitalizations won’t cure.

If anything, Westphalia ought to be putting together some “action committees”.

  8. Two in Three UK Voters Think Population Growth Too High (breitbart, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/07/11/uk-voters-population-growth-high/

“Three in four people want to see the government take action against population growth, according to new figures which showed the majority of voters believe Britain is becoming too full too fast and comes among government statistics which shows the population being inflated by mass immigration.

Almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of UK voters believe that Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures projecting the population to rise to 69 million by 2026 and 73 million by 2041 are too high, while just two per cent thought them too low, The Times reports.

Carried out by Population Matters, a UK-based charity concerned with issues around population, sustainability, and the environment, the research found the proportion who were concerned that projected population growth is too high rose to 84 per cent of Brexit voters and 81 per cent of people who voted for the Conservative Party.

Adults who wanted Britain to remain in the European Union (EU) and Labour voters were significantly less concerned over the growth forecast, with 49 per cent and 50 per cent of the two groups, respectively, believing it to be too high.

Most of people’s worries concerning the rapidly increasing number of UK residents related to the effect population growth would have on public services such as healthcare and education, according to Population Matters…”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/afghan-official-roadside-bomb-kills-civilians-56503641

“Two suicide bombers stormed an education department building in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province Wednesday, killing at least 10 people, a provincial official said.

Gen. Ghulam Sanayee Stanekzai, Nangarhar provincial police chief, said one of the attackers detonated a vest full of explosives and a second was shot and killed by security forces.

Eight others were wounded in the attack in Jalalabad, Stanekzai said. “A few offices and rooms in the building were burned down as a result of the attack,” he said.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said by early afternoon the fighting was over.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack, but both the Taliban and an Islamic State group affiliate are active in eastern Afghanistan, especially in Nangarhar…”

  11. Migrants fuelled EU population increase by 1MILLION as Luxembourg and Sweden have some of the biggest swells (dailymail, Jul 10, 2018)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5939893/Migrants-fuelled-EU-population-increase-1MILLION.html

“Migration fuelled a population increase of more than 1million across the EU last year, with Britain seeing the sixth largest relative increase.

The rise in numbers across the bloc came despite there being more deaths than births, a report revealed yesterday.

The figures show there were around 513.6million people living in the EU’s 28 member states on January 1 this year, compared with 512.5million on the same day last year – a rise of 1.1million.

During 2017, there were 5.3million deaths recorded, compared with 5.1million births, meaning the increase was down to net migration, according to the report compiled by Eurostat, the EU statistics office.

Nineteen member states saw population increases, with the biggest relative increase in Malta at 3.3 per cent. The archipelago has been at the forefront of migrant arrivals in recent months and, along with Italy last month, began refusing boats carrying migrants to allow to dock.

Luxembourg saw the second biggest relative increase at 1.9 per cent followed by Sweden with 1.2 per cent.

The UK saw the sixth largest with 0.5 per cent, meaning the population surged by 377,871. Of this, 230,000 was down to net migration.

Unlike the rest of the EU, there were more births (755,000) than deaths (607,200) in the UK.

Germany, which opened its doors to more than 1million migrants at the height of the migration crisis in 2015/16, remains the most populated member state, with 82.9million residents or 16.2 per cent of the total EU population.

France is second with 67.2million and 13.1 per cent of the total, and the UK third with 66.2million, or 12.9 per cent.

The figure of 5.1million births across the bloc last year was almost 90,000 less than the previous year.

Ireland recorded the highest ‘crude’ birth rate – the number of births per 1000 residents – at 12.9, with Sweden the second highest at 11.5.

The UK and France were joint third, both at 11.4 per 1000.

These figures were issued ahead of World Population Day today. “

    • Migrants fueled EU population increase by 1 MILLION as Luxembourg and Sweden have some of the biggest swells

If I hadn’t visited Sweden, Denmark, and various parts of Western Europe back when they were relatively pristine (i.e., 1969 – 2009), it might prevent me from feeling any sense of sympathy. Instead, I’ve met countless, kind, hospitable, gracious, and decent, indigenous Europeans to know that they cannot possibly be abandoned into the withering embrace of EU apparatchiks (or der verdammt Musselmans).

Just the potential loss of European-based, Caucasian genetic material is worth fighting another World War over. The White race cannot afford to lose this battle. Far too many of the West’s very best and brightest were sent into the meat-grinder by unbelievably incompetent commanders. Gallipoli, anyone?

The endless Caucasian slaughters (for so many of our existing foes) that were begat by America’s Civil War, then WWI, and WWII (Korea, Vietnam, The Sandbox), have caused a level of genetic attrition that is no longer acceptable for the West. As in: INTOLERABLE for anyone who wants to bring harm our way.

Just as (always) with Islam, Cold War Soviet Russia, and Red China: This one is for all the marbles.

  12. Muslim party leader in the Netherlands tells Dutch to leave their country if they don’t like diversity (voiceofeurope, Jul 11, 2018)
    https://voiceofeurope.com/2018/07/muslim-party-leader-in-the-netherlands-tells-dutch-to-leave-their-country-if-they-dont-like-diversity/

“Tunahan Kuzu, the political leader of the DENK party in the Netherlands, has caused some serious controversy, Dutch broadcaster NOS reports.

“If they don’t like a changing Netherlands in which people with different cultures live… like in the city of Zaandam or the neighbourhood of Poelenburg, they should get lost,” Kuzu says in an interview.

Kuzu’s DENK party is a controversial party that is rapidly growing in Dutch urban areas. It especially performs well in areas with high Muslim populations, for example in western Amsterdam (Amsterdam Nieuw-West).

In the latest Dutch national election, in March 2017, DENK won three seats grabbing almost 200,000 votes. One year later, in the municipal elections, the party was by far the largest in ‘Amsterdam Nieuw-West’ and swept away some of the traditional leftist parties.

DENK was founded in February 2015, by two former Turkish labour party (PVDA) members: Tunahan Kuzu and Selçuk Öztürk. Both did not agree with the party’s integration policy.

During the latest meeting with their former party PVDA, Selçuk Öztürk even said during an argument: “May Allah punish you!”

Some Dutch media say DENK has a pro-Erdogan signature. For example DENK was the only party in Dutch parliament who did not want to recognise the Armenian genocide.”

    • “If they don’t like a changing Netherlands in which people with different cultures live… like in the city of Zaandam or the neighbourhood of Poelenburg, they should get lost,” Kuzu says in an interview.”

This pretend-modern-day-sewage CAN be reversed and these incessant Muslim incursions will only result in Massively Disproportionate Retaliation. Should that time arrive, just don’t ask me for any hankies. Emkay?

  13. Trump and Merkel Exchange Barbs in Showdown Over Russia Pipeline

(Bloomberg) — Donald Trump and Angela Merkel got off to a prickly start at a NATO summit as the U.S. president blasted Germany over its support for a gas pipeline from Russia, prompting a tart response from the chancellor.

“It’s very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia where we’re supposed to be guarding against Russia and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia,” Trump said before meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday mornin

Germany makes independent decisions, chancellor says in response to claim it is controlled by Russia

Angela Merkel has pushed back against Donald Trump’s extraordinary tirade against Germany on the first day of the Nato summit in Brussels, denying her country was “totally controlled” by Russia and saying it made its own independent decisions and policies.

In less blunt language than the US president’s, the German chancellor made the point that she needed no lessons in dealing with authoritarian regimes, recalling she had been brought up in East Germany when it had been part of the Soviet Union’s sphere of influence.

Arriving at Nato headquarters only hours after Trump singled out Germany for criticism, Merkel said: “I have experienced myself how a part of Germany was controlled by the Soviet Union. I am very happy that today we are united in freedom, the Federal Republic of Germany. Because of that we can say that we can make our independent policies and make independent decisions. That is very good, especially for people in eastern Germany.”

She also hit back at Trump’s criticism that Germany contributed too little to European defence. “Germany does a lot for Nato,” she said.

  15. OPEC’s oil output jumps in June as Saudi Arabia opens the taps to tame crude prices

Saudi Arabia hiked its oil output in June to the highest level since the end of 2016, as it aims to cool the market after crude prices recently rose to 3½-year highs.

The jump in Saudi supplies shows the world’s top crude exporter is making good on its recent vows to tame oil prices. The kingdom has faced pressure from big crude importers like China and India, as well as President Donald Trump, who worry about negative economic impacts from rising fuel costs.

The increase also comes as OPEC forecast global oil demand will surpass 100 million barrels per day (bpd) next year.

Saudi Arabia reported that it pumped nearly 10.5 million bpd last month, up from just more than 10 million bpd in May. Data from independent sources cited in OPEC’s monthly report showed a slightly smaller build to just more than 10.4 million bpd.

Whistleblowers are being offered a “witness protection scheme” to expose “wrongdoing” in the technology industry. An American non-for-profit organisation founded by a French entrepreneur and philanthropist has said it will provide individuals working within “big data” financial and legal support if they are able provide information that shows how the public is being “harm[ed], exploited or misled”.

The Signals Network, which was set up last year, is working with a consortium of journalists around the world and aims to provide assistance to potential whistle-blowers to ensure that powerful corporations can be investigated.

Newspapers and websites in America and Europe, including The Telegraph, have issued a “call for information” to people working in “big data” who are able to show how the public are being misled or that the information they have provided is being misused.

  20. Trump opens NATO summit with blast at allies, accuses Germany over ties to Russia

President Trump kicked off his two-day visit with NATO allies by doing exactly what many of them feared, worsening tensions within the alliance by claiming that Germany, a bulwark of the transatlantic democratic order, “is totally controlled by” and “captive to Russia.”

Trump, who often goes on the attack by accusing someone of behavior he has been accused of, irked allies last month by suggesting that Russia should be readmitted to the G-7, and is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday. He began a series of meetings with NATO leaders here Wednesday by suggesting during a welcome breakfast that a natural gas pipeline project has made Germany subservient to Russia.

  23. Taiwan flag emoji crashes iPhones to appease China

Apple has fixed a glitch that caused iPhones registered in China to crash when they received a message with an emoji showing the Taiwanese flag.

Devices have reportedly been crashing since the icon was blocked in 2017, an apparent attempt at censorship because the Chinese government refuses to acknowledge Taiwan’s independence.

Security researcher Patrick Wardle told Wired that the flaw was a censorship function made by Apple that occasionally read the Taiwan emoji as an “invalid input”, causing the app it was sent over to shut down.

Mr Wardle informed Apple about the bug and helped the company to fix it, which Apple noted in a security update in June and fixed on Tuesday.

Mr Wardle said: “If Apple had never tried to appease the Chinese government, the bug would never have been introduced in the first place.”

  24. Sale of guillotine divides France

    11th July 2018, Comments 0 comments

A 150-year-old guillotine with “a few dents on the blade” will go under the hammer in Paris on Wednesday.

The 10-foot (three-metre) tall instrument of execution which was used to dispatch criminals in France until 1977 is in working order.

But the Drouot auction house insisted that the model was built as a replica and has never been used to behead anyone.

The sale of guillotines has been highly controversial in France where the death penalty was only abolished in 1981, with the French auction watchdog already objecting to the auction.

“They should not be selling this guillotine,” a spokesman told the Parisien newspaper. “Objects like the clothes of people who were deported to the (Nazi death) camps and instruments of torture are sensitive.”

That did not, however, stop another going for 220,000 euros ($234,000) in the same saleroom in 2011 when US pop star Lady Gaga was reportedly among the bidders.

Nor does the watchdog have the power to stop the proceedings because the guillotine is part of a bankruptcy sale.

  26. Forget global warming: Winter is coming — and it will be a doozy
By Gregory Wrightstone July 10, 2018

“Winter is Coming” is the motto of the House Stark in HBO’s wildly popular “Game of Thrones,” referring to the looming deep cold that will be accompanied by terror and death. George R. R. Martin’s fictional account has a real-world counterpart that will confront humanity at some time in the not too distant future and it won’t be pretty.

For the last approximately 2.5 million years the Earth has been cycling in and out of long glacial periods, punctuated by much shorter warm interglacials. For the last one million-plus years the planet has been in 100,000-year cycles of ice advance and welcome warming.

The last ice age ended about 11,500 years ago, enabling humanity to prosper and advance. The most dramatic advances in civilization took place during warm periods very similar to our own current warming trend. Over the last 150 years, we have seen a rather modest temperature increase of ~1.5°F, one that is well within the natural variations in temperature over the last several thousand years. Before climate science became politicized, such warm periods were referred to by scientists as “climate optima” because, for almost all species on Earth, warmer is better than colder.

The recurring theme of civilization’s relationship with climate is that the end of each warming period went badly for humanity. These prosperous periods were followed by declining temperatures and were times of great despair as the Earth plunged into global cooling that featured crop failure, famine and mass depopulation.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/07/10/forget-global-warming-winter-is-coming-and-it-will-be-a-doozy/

    • Glaciation has been cyclical on this planet since it cooled and it has always been only a matter of “when?” not “why?” or “by whom?” But I guess some idiots see history as passé(?)and hence irrelevant.

      • They don’t want to have history play a part in any conversation, if you get people to learn one lesson from history they may decide to study more and discover that the left’s policies always fail.

        • This entire world has benefited from an idyllic interglacial period.

When that particular little climatic episode terminates, look for all sorts of major hell to break loose.

  27. Obama admin had the chance to cripple the global heroin trade but chose to play politics instead
By Daily Caller News Foundation July 10, 2018

The Obama administration reportedly had the chance to cripple the global heroin trade funding terrorism in war-torn Afghanistan, but it shelved the plan to advance a broader political agenda.

The administration, citing political concerns, shut down a plan to stop the spread of narcotics around the world, prevent Afghanistan’s emergence as a narco-state, and sever the critical revenue streams financing the deadly insurgency American troops are fighting and dying to end, Politico’s John Meyer reported Sunday.

The plan — Operation Reciprocity — was drafted by Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Justice legal advisers, but the high-stakes strategy was strangled in its crib by the Obama administration’s deputy chief of mission in Kabul, Tina Kaidanow, to protect the administration’s strategic ambitions.

Kaidanow told Politico that there were serious concerns the plan would impact the White House’s Afghanistan strategy, including but not limited to the proposed drawdown of America’s military presence in the region. At the time Operation Reciprocity was just starting to gain momentum in the summer of 2013, the conflict in Afghanistan had already cost American taxpayers $686 billion, not to mention the more than 2,000 American lives sacrificed to the war. It appears the administration caved to the political pressure.

    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/07/11/migrants-threaten-kill-rescue-crew/

“African migrants who thought they would be denied passage to Europe became violent and threatened to kill the crew of an Italian supply ship that had rescued them.

Vos Thalassa, a specialist Offshore Supply Ship which works supporting French oil and gas company Total, picked up more than 60 migrants after responding to a distress call in the Mediterranean on Sunday night.

But within minutes, the crew were taken “hostage” by the people they allowed onboard, according to Il Giornale, which reported that some of the individuals who were rescued became enraged when a Libyan coastguard boat arrived on the scene to take the illegal immigrants to safety.

“It turned from a rescue to piracy,” commented the Italian transport ministry, stating that “death threats were made”.

Libyan Coast Guard spokesman Admiral Ayoub Qassem said: “The tugboat, which had been hired by Libya for logistics operations supporting some oil platforms off our coasts, intervened to rescue 63 people aboard a wooden boat.”

The migrants grew increasingly aggressive and threatened to kill the crew “because they did not want to return to Libya in any way” when they saw the boat, “forcing it to head north”, he added.

“We did not want to do anything that could further degenerate the situation. Our priority was to ensure the safety of the crew and all the other people,” Qassem told Italian Journalist Agency (AGI), adding he feared the incident could be the first of many “migrant revolts” to come.

On Monday the migrants were passed over to an Italian coastguard boat, which intervened after being alerted to a “situation of serious danger for the security of the [Vos Thalassa] and its crew … caused by attitudes threatening the crew by some migrants”, according to a statement…”

  31. Don’t Be Alarmed But Turkey Is Building Islamist Beachheads Right Here In America

Tucked away in a quiet D.C. suburb in Maryland, the Diyanet Center of America (DCA) recently celebrated its two-year anniversary since opening in 2016. It was established with great fanfare, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and other officials from his Justice and Development Party (AKP) attending the opening.

To the casual observer, the DCA appears a harmless organization that seamlessly fits into a US society embracing cultural and religious diversity. But look a little closer and it is clear that the DCA is a crucial component in the Turkish regime’s efforts to spread AKP Islamism.

For its American audience, the DCA’s website says that it serves “to provide religious, social and educational services to Turkish immigrants and Muslims living in the United States of America.” Writing in the Turkish publication Daily Sabah, however, the chief advisor to the Turkish Prime Minister declared that the DCA would spread the Turkish strain of Islam and fight the “Islamophobia engineers” that “darken the prospects for humanity.”

In fact, the DCA has done little to hide its links with the Erdo?an regime. On its website, the DCA states that it “works in full cooperation with the Religious Affairs Directorate of the Republic of Turkey (Diyanet)”, which did in fact finance its establishment with a cool $100 million in state money.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A $500 monthly check for low-income residents, cash stipends for the city’s most violent criminals and $1,000 college scholarships for public high school graduates.

These are the bold initiatives 27-year-old Mayor Michael Tubbs is launching in Stockton, California, one of the state’s most financially strapped and crime-ridden cities. The Stanford-educated son of a mother who relied in part on public food assistance programs and an incarcerated father, Tubbs thinks that giving people even a small leg up can make a radical change.

  34. America’s Growing Fatigue with Leftist Outrage

GOPUSA Staff Washington Times 11:51 am July 11, 20184 comments

Yes, it is very understandable that Democrats would be sad, mad and uneasy following the defeat of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. That defeat was almost two years ago. But the decibel level of Democratic dismay only seems to have grown louder in 20 months. Party officials, lawmakers, Hillary fans, activists, operatives, strategists and potential candidates have joined the fray.

Dismay has turned to outrage, some of which translates into harassment of Trump administration officials in public places, or boisterous street demonstrations, like the one that erupted on the Supreme Court steps Monday evening. The nation, however, could be getting tired of it — and that fatigue does not bode well during important election years.

Consider that almost half of Americans — 47 percent — now say Democrats “need to be more civil” when opposing President Trump’s policies. That includes 88 percent of Republicans, 42 percent of independents and even 24 percent of Democrats. Also, 41 percent of Americans overall say Democrats “are going too far” opposing these policies; 87 percent of Republicans, 38 percent of independents and 11 percent of Democrats agree.

A Precedent Win for the Second Amendment: Cody Wilson, DefCAD, and 3D Printed Guns

You may have missed this. It was very quietly done yesterday.

Do you remember the explosion on the internet of 3D printing and the storm around Liberator pistol (pictured above)?

Cody Wilson and his DefCAD website were the pioneers in the space of 3D firearms printing and the DOJ under the Obama Administration took him to the woodshed to shut him down using every regulation they could think of.

5 years later the Federal Government has settled.

BELLEVUE, WA – The Department of Justice and Second Amendment Foundation have reached a settlement in SAF’s lawsuit on behalf of Cody Wilson and Defense Distributed over free speech issues related to 3-D files and other information that may be used to manufacture lawful firearms.

SAF and Defense Distributed had filed suit against the State Department under the Obama administration, challenging a May 2013 attempt to control public speech as an export under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), a Cold War-era law intended to control exports of military articles.

Under terms of the settlement, the government has agreed to waive its prior restraint against the plaintiffs, allowing them to freely publish the 3-D files and other information at issue. The government has also agreed to pay a significant portion of the plaintiffs’ attorney’s fees, and to return $10,000 in State Department registration dues paid by Defense Distributed as a result of the prior restraint.

Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military.

“Not only is this a First Amendment victory for free speech, it also is a devastating blow to the gun prohibition lobby,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “For years, anti-gunners have contended that modern semi-automatic sport-utility rifles are so-called ‘weapons of war,’ and with this settlement, the government has acknowledged they are nothing of the sort.

“Under this settlement,” he continued, “the government will draft and pursue regulatory amendments that eliminate ITAR control over the technical information at the center of this case. They will transfer export jurisdiction to the Commerce Department, which does not impose prior restraint on public speech. That will allow Defense Distributed and SAF to publish information about 3-D technology.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control. – From Josh Blackman

This is certainly a personal win for Cody Wilson and an evolution in technology but here is the 2A win
Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military.

If you’re interested you can see the whole series of legal actions here starting back in 2015.

Government acknowledgement that semi-automatics aren’t inherently military arms is a significant gain in the constant argument about whether the Second Amendment protects rifles like the AR-15.

Congratulations to Cody Wilson and good job SAF.

Richard: This precedent will help the company making the Ghost Gun machines that are suing because of the Government wanting to stop their selling the machines that create a steel receiver for 1911 handguns. I think what they really do is finish up a semi milled receiver called a blank. They are not to the point where the feds consider them to be a receiver and thus controlled by the Feds.

It also says that the selling or distributing the programing for a metal 3-D printer is also legal, and the metal 3-D printer can print the entire firearm, all you have to do is temper, put on the blueing or other finish you want and assemble

    • Richard: I learned in this article that the Ghost Gun machine is made and sold by the same outfit that brought the suit. According to this article you can download the files to print any firearm in existence as long as it isn’t a full auto. You will have to buy a 3-D printer that will print in steel or tungsten and if you aren’t in the states down load the files before your government blocks them. Be careful in Oz it is illegal to have the files.

DOJ Settles In Landmark Gun Suit, Safeguarding The Second Amendment
The age of the downloadable gun is here.

In 2013, hot-shot crypto-anarchist Cody Wilson warned the world that downloadable guns were imminent and gun control as we know it, a mere fantasy. Some five years later, fresh off a huge effective win against the State Department — which allows for Wilson to post his 3D-printable gun files online, “communist style,” as he calls it — Wilson says gun control is officially dead. And he killed her.

“I barely put a million bucks into this and I got you the Second Amendment forever,” he boasted to The Daily Wire in a phone interview. “What has the NRA done for you lately?”

Due to the terms of the surprising settlement of the United States government, Wilson can begin posting his open-source technical data, including files for every gun up to .50 caliber available through commerce, on July 27. An irrevocable content dump, according to Wilson, which renders gun control efforts increasingly futile.

Moreover, in the settlement, “the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military,” notes a press release from the Second Amendment Foundation. In other words, the handful of liberal states that currently ban “assault weapons” like the AR-15, such as New York state via the SAFE Act, could potentially face legal challenges.

  37. MEMRI TV – Toulouse Imam Mohamed Tatai following MEMRI’s Translation of His Antisemitic Sermon

Following MEMRI’s translation of a Friday sermon by Toulouse Imam Mohamed Tatai, in which he cited an antisemitic hadith, the Grande Mosquee de Toulouse posted a new video on YouTube, on July 5, `/strong>in which Imam Tatai, Imam of the Mosquée Ennour in Toulouse, clarified that he was talking about the end of the state of Israel, and not the end of Judaism as a religion or of the Jews as a people.

For the video of his December 15 sermon, see MEMRI TV 6637. Following the ensuing media attention, it was reported that public prosecutors in Toulouse were investigating Tatai for “possible incitement to hatred.”
