There is so much danger in this single outcome that current European efforts to (profitably) assist Iran’s nuclear weapons program must be halted. Same goes for Russia and Red China.

Taking into account what happened, we consider it possible to return to this issue. And not only with regard to Syria, but with regard to other states,” the General Staff stated.
Syrian air defense forces have intercepted all 12 cruise missiles, which had been used to attack the Dumeir military airfield, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
“Over the past 1.5 years, Russia has fully restored the air defense system of Syria and continues to improve it.”
Russian Air Defenses Were Not Used to Repel Missile Strike
Russia’s air defenses haven’t been used to repell the missile strike on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, the military said.
“None of the cruise missiles launched by the US and its allies entered the zone of responsibility of the Russian air defenses, covering objects in Tartus [naval facility] and Hmeymim [airbase located in Latakia province],” the Russian Defense Ministry explained.
“Russian air defense systems at the Hmeymim and Tartus bases have timely found and controlled all the missile launches from naval and air vehicles of the US and Britain,” the Russian General Staff stated, adding that it hadn’t recorded French aviation’s participation in the attack.
According to the Russian military, the massive missile strike on military and civilian infrastructure targets was conducted by US warships jointly with the UK and French air forces at 3:42-5:10 Moscow time.
A total of 100 cruise and air-to-surface missiles were launched at targets in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry stated, noting that two US warships carried out the attack from the Red Sea, as well as tactical aviation over the Mediterranean Sea and B-1B bombers from al-Tanf area.
West Attacked Syria on Day When OPCW Experts Were Set to Start Probing Alleged Chemical Attack
When commenting on West’s so-called response to an alleged chemical attack in Douma which it blames on Damascus, the Russian General Staff has emphasized that chemical weapons were not produced in Syria.
“We believe that this strike is not a response to an alleged chemical attack, but a reaction to the success of the Syrian armed forces in the liberation of its territory from international terrorism.”
“The strike was carried out exactly on the day, when the OPCW special mission was set to start its work in Damascus to probe the incident in the city of Douma, where chemical weapons had allegedly been used,” the Russian military emphasized.

There’s a really simple solution to that particular problem.
All that repair work didn’t seem to do them any good.
Russia seems to be testing various of its air defense systems against our missiles, just as we test our missiles against their defense system. The problem is those are probably our best missiles and their second line defenses.
I’m thinking a nice little, compact EMP bomb or three (without much in the way of explosive yield) would fry out their air defense system electronics without killing a lot of people on the ground.
Just have to make sure that the Russians are out of town.

This will be in the nature of an on-the-fly update. As noted about two hours ago, the president announced strikes tonight on targets in Syria, using the forces of the U.S., UK, and France. The strikes have ended for now, and the Pentagon has given its brief on the event.

The University of Virginia discovered a statue of Thomas Jefferson smeared with the phrase “racist + rapist” on Friday.
The vandalism likely occurred Friday, on the morning of the former president and UVA founder’s birthday, reported NBC29.
UVA students, alumni, and community members previously plastered a sign reading “Black Lives Matter — F*** White Supremacy” to the statue and covered it with a black shroud in September.

Iranian drone shot down in Israel in February was carrying explosives

This explains a lot.
When Israel first conducted a counterstrike on Syrian air defense assets after the drone shootdown on 10 February 2018, the drone intrusion alone justified the strike on Syria. The Assad regime had allowed Iran to launch the drone and use it to intrude in Israeli air space. Israel can’t allow such intrusions to go unanswered. Deterrence is essential; otherwise, Israeli forces could be quickly overwhelmed trying to maintain an effective, but wholly defensive, posture.
However, the government of Israel revealed this week that forensic examination of the Iranian drone shot down on 10 February showed it had been carrying explosive material. The wording indicates that the drone wasn’t armed with separately deliverable bombs or missiles, but rather would have itself become the “bomb,” if it had been directed against an Israeli target by its controller.
This was understood to be a possibility at the time, of course. But there was no confirmation back in February that the drone was lethal.
Although it isn’t clear that this update was the only reason for the more recent, presumed Israeli attack on T4 Airbase in Syria (on 9 April), we can assume the explosive cargo of the drone from February figured into it. Times of Israel summarized an Israeli TV report:

According to the Swedish mainstream media, the country has experienced a significant rise in prosecutions for “hate speech” on social media
last year. The organization believed to be largely responsible for this rise is “Näthatsgranskaren” (“The Web Hate Investigator”), a private organization founded in January 2017 by a former police officer, Tomas Åberg, who has taken it upon himself to identify and report to the authorities Swedish individuals whom he and his organization decide are committing thought crimes and “inciting hatred” against foreigners.
Åberg’s organization reported no fewer than 750 Swedish citizens in 2017 to the authorities for “web hate”. According to Aftonbladet, 14% of the reported cases went on to prosecution of which about 7% — 77 cases — led to actual convictions. Most of the people identified and reported by the organization were middle aged and elderly ladies. “The average age is around 55 years”, said Åberg, “Young women almost do not appear at all”.

How Pandering to Social Justice is Killing Media Companies
A private college in California will be hosting a pool party later today at which white people will be excluded, with only “people who identify as POC” permitted to attend.
“POC” stands for “person of color.” The event will take place at Scripps College’s Sallie Tiernan Field House pool, according to The Claremont Independent.
A Facebook announcement of the event lists the party as being hosted by Café Con Leche, a student group identified in the post as “the badass Latinx at Scripps.”
“Bring your chanclas and the homies over to our nice ass resort pool, LET’S TAKE UP SPACE,” the announcement reads, advertising the event as “a safe space for…students that identify as POC to come together and build community.”
“Enjoy some yummy snacks, tunes that slappp, and the company of other POC,” the listing reads.
The announcement also advises attendees to anticipate “an anonymous Google form to notify us of people we should keep out !”

The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten is in negotiations to meet with Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan. The AFT’s purpose is to deliver an ultimatum regarding the bank’s ongoing financial support for the gun lobby and gun manufacturers. The AFT has publically taken the position that if Sloan continues Wells Fargo’s support of firearms businesses, the AFT will discontinue its popular Wells Fargo mortgage program offered to members.

Last week, the AFT released correspondence between Weingarten and Sloan. The release outlined the union’s concerns about Wells Fargo’s connections with the NRA—as well as its threat to stop offering Wells Fargo mortgages, if Wells Fargo continues being the NRA banker. The Wells Fargo mortgage program is part of the Union Privilege program and approximately 1,600 AFT members have opted for these mortgages annually.
More than 20,000 AFT members currently hold mortgages through the program. If Wells Fargo fails to budge, the AFT will urge other Union Privilege members to follow suit. The AFL-CIO was copied on the correspondence.

Apparently, turning in fellow Swedes to the authorities for alleged “hate speech” is now viewed in Sweden as “heroic”.
“One can criticize fascism or Nazism, but why not Islam? Why should Islam have any protection status?” — Denny, a 71-year-old pensioner, on trial for “incitement to hatred”.
Instead of using its limited resources to protect its citizens from the violent onslaught against them, Sweden is waging a legal war on its pensioners for daring to speak out against the same violent onslaught from which the state is failing to protect them.
