BREAKING: Senator Lindsey Graham Just Confirmed The Steele Dossier Was Used for 2016 FISA Warrant
Senator Lindsey Graham just confirmed the sketchy Steele Dossier was used to get the wiretap and surveillance warrant from the FISA court. Brian Kilmead understood what he was hearing was serious, but didn’t quite catch the specific gravity of it.
Watch at 04:10:
“…The back-story to the FISA warrant is the cornerstone. The back-story contains both the FBI and the DOJ scheme. Expose it, remove it, and the entire ‘muh Russia conspiracy’ collapses under the weight of sunlight…2
This is critical and important because the specific use of the Steele Dossier underpins the BIG UGLY and exposes the entire top-tier apparatus of the FBI Counterintelligence Division (Peter Strzok, Bill Priestap, James Baker, Andrew McCabe) and the DOJ National Security Division (John Carlin, Stuart Evans, Mary McCord and Sally Yates), as well as DOJ Bruce Ohr and FBI lawyer Lisa Page directly to “conspiracy” charges.

Trump warns Iran ‘world is watching’ after anti-government protests
The US President tweets his support for anti-government protesters as thousands hold counter-rallies to support the regime.
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that the “world is watching” after two days of protests against the country’s religious rulers.
Hundreds of people took to the streets in Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city and one of the holiest places in Shia Islam, on Thursday.
The protests spread to Tehran and other cities on Friday, with police using water cannons in some cases to disperse the crowds.
Initially aimed against high prices, the anti-government protests quickly turned against the Islamic regime as a whole.
Police arrested 52 people. On Saturday, tens of thousands of government supporters marched in cities across Iran in a show of strength for the regime.
Many of the marchers carried banners in support of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran hard-liners rally as new protests challenge government
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iranian hard-liners rallied Saturday to support the country’s supreme leader and clerically overseen government as spontaneous protests sparked by anger over the country’s ailing economy roiled major cities in the Islamic Republic.
The demonstrations, commemorating a mass 2009 pro-government rally challenging those who rejected the re-election of hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad amid fraud allegations, had been scheduled weeks earlier.
However, they took on new importance after the economic protests began Thursday, sparked by social media posts and a surge in prices of basic food supplies, like eggs and poultry.

the daily caller – CNN Correspondent: World Thinks That America Doesn’t Have A ‘Moral Leg To Stand On’
During CNN’s coverage of protests in Iran Saturday, a correspondent read a statement from the Iranian government, adding that many countries are “frustrated” with the United States, and that many think America doesn’t have a “moral leg to stand on.”
CNN correspondent Arwa Damon said, “This coming out from the [Iranian] foreign ministry, not only talking about the fact that they view the government of President Trump as the greatest bearer of ill will towards Iran but going on to say that, ‘The people of Iran give no value or credibility to such opportunistic expressions by the Government or the person, Mr. Trump. American officials, through their conduct have not earned a place from which they can express masked sentiments as sympathies, for the aware of the people of Iran.’”
Damon then added her own thoughts, saying, “Now this, not just necessarily a rebuke of what the U.S. president tweeted, but also perhaps a reflection of just how frustrated, not just Iran but other countries frankly are, with the United States.”
She continued, “A lot of nations and their populations, no matter how they feel about their governments in particular, do perceive the United States as not really having a moral leg to stand on.”

al arabiya – Qom’s top legal, religious cleric announces support for Iran protests
A prominent hardline cleric responsible for being one of Iran’s leading reference on Islamic jurisprudence has voiced support for the ongoing protests currently gripping several cities across the country.
Considered the top religious cleric in the city of Qom, Hossein Noori Hamedani, on Saturday supported the popular protests against the high prices and high costs of living in the country.
“The people are demanding their right and we must support them,” Hamedani was quoted by the Iranian media.
He added: “People are demanding their legitimate rights because they suffer from high living costs and the difficulty of living, as well as the spread of unemployment,” calling on the government to work to reduce poverty and unemployment and avoid the anger of the people.
“A lot of people have written to us about the loss of their money in financial institutions and some banks that have declared bankruptcy and have not been able to return their money. The government must pay these funds without delay”, Hamdani said.
Hamedani, however, warned warned of “stooges of the enemy” infiltrating protests to use them against the establishment, Tasnim news reported.

Iran holds pro-government rallies as new protests break out
DUBAI, Dec 30 (Reuters) – Annual nationwide pro-government rallies were held in Iran on Saturday to mark the end of unrest which shook the country in 2009, state media reported, while local news agency and social media reports said a third day of protests had begun.
State television showed a rally in the capital Tehran and marchers carrying banners in support of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Mashhad, Iran’s second largest city.
Pro-government rallies were scheduled in more than 1,200 cities and towns, state television said, events held annually to mark the end of months of street protests which followed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election as president in 2009.
At the same time, social media postings said a third day of protests broke out in cities including Tehran, Shahr-e Kord and Kermanshah, where a video showed dozens of protesters booing after police announced on a loudspeaker that any gathering would be illegal. The footage could not be authenticated.

Trump ramps up Border Patrol recruitment, in bid to hire thousands of new agents
President Trump doesn’t yet have his “big, beautiful” border wall, but the administration is ramping up recruitment of border agents going into the new year in a bid to enhance security with more manpower – if not bricks and barbed wire.
Up until now, the White House’s fix to immigration issues has included Trump reversing many of his predecessor’s policies, increasing round-ups of illegal immigrants and restricting the number of refugees allowed into the country.
There has been some success: The number of people trying to sneak over the border has dropped to its lowest level in four decades. Illegal border crossings are down 24 percent, according to the Department of Homeland Security’s most recent statistics, released in December. During the government’s 2017 fiscal year, border agents made 310,531 arrests.

German Jewish Leader Warns That Jews May Require Police Protection As Anti-Semitism Escalates
Former president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany Charlotte Knobloch claims that Jews are increasingly under threat in public and may require police protection to lead a normal life without harassment and violence.
Ms Knobloch, who is now the President of the Jewish Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria, said that Jews are increasingly under threat, Die Welt reports.
“Aggressive anti-Semitism, from verbal hostility on the Internet and in the analogue world to desecration and destruction to physical attacks are commonplace in Germany,” she said.
“Jewish life can only take place in public under police protection and the strictest security precautions, or it must be completely cancelled for security reasons,” Knobloch added.

Russian court upholds ban on Navalny running against Putin in 2018
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Supreme Court on Saturday dismissed an appeal by Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny against a decision by the country’s central election commission to bar him from taking part in next year’s presidential election.
The commission this week barred Navalny from taking part in the March 18 vote because of a suspended prison sentence he says was trumped up.
Navalny, who did not attend the Supreme Court hearing, wrote on Twitter that he and his supporters “will not recognize elections without competition” and renewed calls for a boycott of the vote.
Polls indicate that President Vladimir Putin, who has dominated Russia’s political landscape for 18 years, is on course to be comfortably re-elected, but Navalny says his own exclusion from the vote makes a farce of the ballot.
Navalny, who has organized some of the biggest anti-government demonstrations in years, has been jailed three times this year and charged with breaking the law for organizing public meetings and rallies.

Iran erupts in popular protests (CNN is otherwise engaged)
By J.E. Dyer December 29, 2017
There isn’t a lot profound that needs saying here. The situation basically speaks for itself. In the last 24 hours, mass protests have broken out all over Iran. This level and kind of protest has not been seen since 2009.
CNN is burying the story, in favor of a slate of tired domestic news, and an odd fixation on a white box truck that has parked near the Trump golf course at Mar-a-Lago in the last couple of days.
We can be relieved to know that the white truck belongs to the local sheriff’s department. CNN was concerned that the truck was deliberately parking in such a way as to obscure the network’s video stakeout of the golf course. But apparently that’s not the case. (See update below on MSM being AWOL on this topic.)
Meanwhile, in Iran, the streets protests have spun up quickly to a surprising level.

al arabiya – Iran cuts off internet access in several cities as mass protests continue
Several reports indicate that telecoms providers in Iran have begun blocking internet access across several cities in the country as mass protests erupted for the third day in a row.
Among the telecoms company was Hamrahe Aval, the primary Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran (MTCI or MCI) as social media continues to play a pivotal role in documenting mass protests and subsequent brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters in the country.
The MTCI is considered a firm jointly held by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other firms controlled by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s two main internet and communications service providers are the Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI) and Irancell. TCI and its subsidiaries, including MCI, are owned by Tosee Etemad Mobin Company which has close links to Iran’s IRGC.
Iran had previously cut off internet access across several cities when the popular Green Movement protests took place against what many considered unfair elections in 2009 when hardliner incumbent president at the time, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, won relection.

Foreign aid scandal: Britain hands £1.39bn to the world’s most corrupt nations (express, Dec 30, 2017)
https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/898120/Foreign-aid-UK-corrupt-nations-Somalia-Syria-Peter-Bone-terrorists
“BRITAIN handed out nearly £1.39 billion to some of the most corrupt nations last year – and increase of 10 per cent on 2015.
The UK dished out the money via the Department for International Development, a rise on the £1.26bn donated two years ago.
The government department says it operates a “zero tolerance” stance against corruption over fears the money could be either stolen or misused or even handed over to terrorists.
The Government is committed to spending 0.7 per cent of national income on foreign aid – equivalent to a sizeable £13.4bn last year.
Conservative MP Peter Bone said: “Whatever you think about the overall aid budget there is no point simply pouring in more money if it’s going to be stolen.
“Why would you be giving more money to corrupt countries where there’s every chance it will end up in the Swiss bank accounts of dictators?
“These are some of the worst regimes in the world and I think people will be shocked we are giving them so much money and even more shocked that it is still going up.
“We should not be doing the 0.7 target – it encourages officials to just dole out money as fast as they can. My constituents want money spent on local problems.”
A list of the most corrupt nations has been drawn up by the think-tank Transparency International.
Analysis done by the Daily Mail shows that Britain sends some its foreign aid budget to 18 of the 20 most corrupt countries.
Somalia received £151 million in 2016 from the UK while Syria gained £351m – there is documented cases where Western aid money has fallen into the hands of terrorist groups.
Earlier this month, the Government was forced to suspend a £12m aid scheme to Syria amid revelations that the cash was at risk of going to jihadi groups.
A BBC Panorama investigation found that the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda had handpicked police officers benefiting from the justice and community security scheme.
Aid money sent to Somalia is also at risk of being used by terror groups such as Al Shabab.
An internal Dfid “risk register” concluded last year there was a “certain” chance of funds being diverted by extremist groups.
Pakistan, another country where corruption is said to be rife but not one of the 20 most corrupt states, benefited from the UK’s generosity to the tune of £462.6m.
Afghanistan, said to be the eighth most corrupt nation according to the list received £235m in 2016 from the UK.
Fifth on the list, Yemen, received £126m. The Democratic Republic of Congo gained £129m.
A Dfid spokesman stressed that officials did not give money directly to the worst regimes, instead dealing directly with groups operating in the countries.
“Dfid does not provide financial aid directly to the governments of any of these countries,’ he added.
“UK aid goes to trusted partners to save babies’ lives, prevent famine and get children into school, and Dfid has tough measures in place to protect taxpayers’ money.
“By working in the most fragile and dangerous parts of the world, Dfid’s work makes us safer in the UK by tackling problems at source which would otherwise arrive on our doorstep.””

Identity Politics: Activists and ‘Diversity Champions’ Big Winners in New Year Honours List (breitbart, Dec 30, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/30/identity-politics-new-year-honours/
“Prime Minister Theresa May has prioritised identity politics campaigners and activists promoting “diversity” in her first New Year honours list.
Anti-discrimination campaigning was laid out as a priority in the 2018 honours list by the Prime Minister, whose repeated pledges to abolish inequality of outcome have been branded “dangerous and divisive”.
Dawn Hill, chairman of the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, south London, was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for ‘services to culture’.
To mark 30 years of Black History Month this October, Hill’s organisation put on an exhibition at Downing Street purporting to show “over two thousand years of black history in Britain”.
Celebrating the occasion, Theresa May urged the country to “recognise the enormous contribution which African and African-Caribbean people have made to life in Britain.”
LGBT campaigners were also honoured, including Jane Owen from transgender organisation Sparkle.
The Very Reverend Professor Iain Torrance, meanwhile, will be given a knighthood for his work in “enabling the Church to perform same-sex marriages as well as paving the way for the institution to formally apologise to gay people”.
A range of police “champions of diversity” will also be honoured for their work promoting identity politics, including Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Craig Mackey, who will receive a knighthood.
The top officer’s key achievement was overseeing a “radical transformation of the [force’s] diversity approach”, according to Police Professional, which singled out his initiative to cut back the use of ‘stop and search’ for special praise.
Activists and campaign groups funded by globalist billionaire George Soros had condemned stop and search as “racist” because ethnic minorities were more likely to be targeted — although some unfashionable senior officers insisted it saved black lives.
(Following the large reduction in searches which resulted from Mackey’s efforts, crime statistics for England and Wales showed a 26 per cent rise in knife crime, with London reported to have become more dangerous than New York City.)
Another police figure to be honoured for services to diversity in the community was former Chief Inspector Norman Pascal, who has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
Pascal, who Police Professional reports as having spent most of his 30 years of service working for the Black Police Association, dedicated his last two years before retiring this year to helping Avon and Somerset Constabulary increase the proportion ethnic minority officers in its ranks.
The Twitter page for the force — which covers 98 per cent white Somerset, 95 per cent white South Gloucestershire, 95 per cent white Bath, and 92 per cent white Bristol — now has as its header an image in which four out of six of the featured officers are non-white.”
Why printers add secret tracking dots (BBC, Dec 30, 2017)
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170607-why-printers-add-secret-tracking-dots
This is a slightly more sophisticated version of an earlier method called, “canary trap” documents. Each individual copy of a given classified report would have minor but unique wording changes. This was mentioned almost twenty years ago in, “Red Rabbit”, a 2002 book by Tom Clancy
Once leaked, examination of the copy would permit tracing it back to a specific person-of-origin. Given Washington DC’s propensity for leaking sensitive and classified documents, this a necessary and valuable measure.
The tracking dots represent a labor-saving device in that no re-editing is necessary in order to create individualized and unique versions of a specific document.

“Egypt’s Interior Ministry says it has killed three members of a militant group it considers a splinter of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group.
Saturday’s statement by the ministry says the militants, belonging to the Hasm movement, were killed in an exchange of fire during a raid on their hideout in Giza. It added that 10 other members of the group were arrested in other raids.
The militants, the ministry says, were planning attacks targeting the Coptic celebrations of Christmas on Jan.7.
Hasm routinely targets security personnel. Militant attacks have surged in Egypt since the military’s 2013 ouster of an elected Islamist president.

LEBANON – Stray dog poisoning video sparks Lebanon outcry
Video footage of stray dogs apparently being poisoned by municipal staff has sparked a public outcry in Lebanon, with politicians rushing to post pictures of themselves with their pets.
The video, shot in the south Beirut suburb of Ghobeiry, shows the dogs lying on their sides near a bowl of food shaking uncontrollably and frothing at the mouth.
A municipal employee is then seen picking up their bodies and throwing them on the back of a pickup.
Welfare organisation Animals Lebanon, which posted the video, said it was seeking action from the government.
“This sickening level of abuse, torture, suffering and complete disregard for life and law is absolutely shocking,” it said.
“We are communicating now with the minister of interior (Nohad Machnouk) to condemn such action and officially notify all municipalities that this is illegal and unacceptable.”
Ghobeiry municipality said that it had suspended several staff members and opened a disciplinary investigation but denied any responsibility.
“This is an isolated villainous and reprehensible act carried out on the personal initiative of a number of health department staff,” it said.
But the interior minister, who is responsible for overseeing local government, said that he had ordered an inquiry into the actions of the municipality.
President Michel Aoun posted a photograph of himself with his pet dog and a reminder that, under new legislation he signed into law in August, any action that causes suffering to animals is punishable by a fine of up to $13,000 (11,000 euros).
“Stray dogs may pose danger to people in several ways but the methods to resolve these cases are also numerous,” he said
“These methods are definitely not what we have witnessed on television and social media channels especially after the new animal protection law was signed earlier this year.”
The leader of Lebanon’s Druze community, Walid Jumblatt, posted a photograph of himself with his dog Oscar, describing the killing of strays as a “crime”.
“If there is one creature to remind us of our humanity and to teach us faithfulness, love, loyalty and tenderness, it’s the dog,” the veteran lawmaker tweeted.
It is not the first time this year that there has been an outcry over the treatment of animals in Lebanon.
In January, the culling of hundreds of seagulls deemed a threat to flights at Beirut airport drew a torrent of criticism when activists posted pictures of the dead birds strewn on the ground after being shot by hunters.

BREITBART – Guardian: Trump Drives Anti-Sharia Efforts Nationwide
Ed Pilkington complains at the Guardian that legislation is being pushed in multiple states to prohibit the practice of Islamic religious law in US courts:
Anti-sharia legislation is spreading in state legislatures across the US, as Donald Trump’s hostile stance towards Muslims appears to be emboldening rightwing Islamaphobes.
In 2017 there were 23 new bills introduced in 18 states attempting to prohibit the practice of Islamic religious law, or sharia, in US courts. The rash of new bills brings the total number of such legislative efforts since 2010 to 217 in 43 states, according to the Haas Institute at UC Berkeley which monitors the anti-sharia movement.
…
Most of the recent bills are careful not to refer overtly to sharia or Islam, as to do so would be to expose the legislation to the scrutiny of federal courts on grounds of religious discrimination. Instead, they talk of “foreign laws” being banned in US jurisdictions.

While his predecessor was hesitant and perhaps overly cautious, President Donald Trump was quick to offer his support to Iranian protesters that are critical of the country’s leadership,
Tensions are running high in Iran as significant anti-government protests — the largest in years — have broken out in cities across the country. The protests began Thursday in the second most populous city, Mashhad, with people expressing dissatisfaction with Iran’s growing economic problems. The following day, the protests spread to half a dozen cities and evolved into broad anti-government demonstrations. While protesters numbered in the hundreds in some places, there were thousands in others.
Many Iranian citizens have reportedly been arrested for their participation in these “illegal” gatherings.

Jordan’s King Abdullah has dismissed members of his family from the army, amid rumours of a planned Saudi-UAE backed coup to overthrow the monarch.
Among those sacked were Abdullah’s brothers Prince Faisal and Prince Ali and his cousin Prince Talal bin Mohammed who were officially retired due to a restructuring of the military.
They are believed to have been dismissed after Abdullah’s son Crown Prince Hussein graduated from British military school Sandhurst and is tipped to take a leading position in the army.

This is as good a place as any to mention one of my favorite articles: Why Arabs Lose Wars by Norvell B. De Atkine (December 1999) — An excerpt:
This problem [lack of cooperation] results from three main factors. First, the well-known lack of trust among Arabs for anyone outside their own family adversely affects offensive operations. Exceptions to this pattern are limited to elite units (which throughout the Arab world have the same duty—to protect the regime, rather than the country). In a culture in which almost every sphere of human endeavor, including business and social relationships, is based on a family structure, this orientation is also present in the military, particularly in the stress of battle. Offensive action, basically, consists of fire and maneuver. The maneuver element must be confident that supporting units or arms are providing covering fire. If there is a lack of trust in that support, getting troops moving forward against dug-in defenders is possible only by officers getting out front and leading, something that has not been a characteristic of Arab leadership..
De Atkine elaborates quite brilliantly as to how both cultural and class distinctions result in extremely poor unit cohesion, weak chains of command, and exceptionally low levels of officer concern for the well-being of enlisted soldiers.
In order to maintain security, relatives and siblings are promoted to officer status without any merit or need to “rise through the ranks”, as is so often the case in Western armed forces.
Anyone who has not read this short piece is encouraged to do so. It eloquently explains the persistent incompetence that, even today, characterizes the vast majority of Arab militaries.
Turkey says Greece granting asylum to alleged coup plotter will affect ties (reuters, Dec 30, 2017)

“ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Turkey said on Saturday a Greek court’s granting of asylum to a Turkish soldier accused of a role in last year’s coup attempt would affect bilateral relations and cooperation on regional issues.
Eight Turkish soldiers fled to Greece following the abortive July 2016 coup. Seven of them applied for asylum and were rejected, but have been kept in protective custody.
Greek courts have blocked two extradition requests by Turkish authorities, drawing an angry rebuke from Ankara and highlighting the tense relations between the NATO allies, who remain at odds over various issues.
“By granting asylum to one of eight coup plotters involved in the July 15 coup, Greece has once again showed that it is a country that protects and embraces coup plotters with this decision,” Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said in the statement.
A Greek police official confirmed that the eighth Turkish soldier had been granted asylum. “…Therefore Greek authorities are obliged to release him,” the official said.
Officials at the Greek foreign ministry were not immediately available for comment.
During his visit to Greece earlier this month, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara did not want Greece to turn into a safe haven for coup plotters.
The two neighbours teetered on the brink of war in 1974, 1987 and 1996 over long-running disputes over ethnically divided Cyprus, mineral rights in the Aegean Sea and sovereignty over uninhabited islets in the Aegean.”

“The Greek government said on Saturday it had appealed against an administrative decision to grant asylum to a Turkish soldier who fled to Greece after a failed coup attempt in 2016.
An angry Turkey said earlier in the day that the decision by the Greek asylum service committee, a panel of judges and experts, would affect bilateral relations with Greece and cooperation on regional issues.”

NYT – How the Russia Inquiry Began: A Campaign Aide, Drinks and Talk of Political Dirt
[…]in May 2016, George Papadopoulos, a young foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, made a startling revelation to Australia’s top diplomat in Britain: Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton.
[…]Exactly how much Mr. Papadopoulos said that night at the Kensington Wine Rooms with the Australian, Alexander Downer, is unclear. But two months later, when leaked Democratic emails began appearing online, Australian officials passed the information about Mr. Papadopoulos to their American counterparts
[…]It was not, as Mr. Trump and other politicians have alleged, a dossier compiled by a former British spy hired by a rival campaign. Instead, it was firsthand information from one of America’s closest intelligence allies.

An IDF spokesperson on Saturday evening announced that IAF planes attacked a Hamas observation post in southern Gaza.
The attack was in retaliation for three missiles fired from Gaza towards Israel on Friday.
Two of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome, while the third fell in Israeli territory and damaged a building.
“The missiles fired on Friday proved once again that Iran, via rebellious, extremist terror organizations, is working to deteriorate the regional situation and playing with the lives of Gaza residents,” the spokesman said.

Holocaust Survivor, 86, Must Pay Taxes on ‘Ghetto Slave’ Compensation, Dutch Government Says
It doesn’t get more insane than this: a Jewish woman, 86, has been told by the Dutch government that she will have to pay taxes on a pension she receives every month from the German government.
Now, it may sound a tad bit weird that Germany is paying a Dutch woman 140 euros every month, but the reason is that Inge Prenzlau is Jewish. During the Second World War, the Nazi occupiers forced her to work in her father’s company without pay. Every day, young Inge (then 11 years old) had to walk two hours to her father’s pill factory to prove to the Nazis that the family was still tied to their business so it wouldn’t be confiscated. Her father couldn’t work because he was extremely ill. In 1943, her slavery ended when she and her family had to go into hiding. The Nazis had decided to round up the family — like other Jewish families — and send them to concentration camps.
After the war, the German government felt it had to reach out to such “ghetto slaves” and provide them with compensation in the form of a modest pension. Because they truly were victims, the Germans decided not to levy taxes on that pension, so Prenzlau receives her 140 euros tax-free.
