  1. I imagine Iranian intifada igniting Iran, immolating ignorant ideologue imams indescribable international ignominy

    • Hopefully the CIA has a hand in stoking this fire.

Gadfrey! I can only hope that you are right. Sadly, after two terms of 0bama diligently stripping out America’s military and intelligence capabilities, it’s difficult to think the CIA was involved in igniting innumerable Iranian ideological insurrections.

Now, when comes to pouring gasoline on this fire … a reinvigorated CIA (under Trump) just might be up for a goodly bit of such mischief. Let’s all hope so.

PS: For a genuinely interesting read, please check out, “The Devil’s Chessboard”, by author David Talbot. A detailed history of the CIA, the book’s last few chapters provide a hauntingly conclusive account of CIA involvement in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Some examples: Lee Harvey Oswald was dropped from the CIA and FBI watch lists just a week or two before Kennedy was murdered.

The owner of the Texas School Book Depository was a staunch Conservative who later hung the multi-paned window from Oswald’s sniper’s nest in his home. Ostensibly, to prevent “souvenir hunters” from seeking it.

      • Related: For a brilliant binge watch, see Netflix series, Manhunter, The Unabomber. It details how Kaczinzky was an unwitting subject of the CIA’s MK Ultra.

        • It details how Kaczinzky [sic] was an unwitting subject of the CIA’s MK Ultra.

So, you’re asserting that Kaczynski was subjected to the CIA’s MK Ultra program that investigated mind control via applications of LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide)?

“The Devil’s Chessboard” provides some very explicit coverage of MK Ultra but makes no mention of Kaczynski. Something that I find incredible in light of how incendiary such a connection would have been.

Published in 2015, there’s no possible way that author, David Talbot, could have been immune to countless mentions of the Unabomber’s lethal 1978–1995 rampage.

Hey, dere’s something awfully scwoowy going on awound here…

After all, consider the complete and total media blackout about Kaczynski’s marijuana-addicted sibling … the Rollabomber.

          • Google it. He was 16 and at Harvard. Two years of brutal experiments. And your right it should be known to all. Now it can be.

      • I agree that after 8 years of Obama this would be beyond the capabilities of the CIA. But would it be beyond the capabilities of one of the rent a spook outfits that have a lot of CIA alumni on staff?

        Just asking.

  2. Hopefully Trump will come out and support the people this time. Unlike Barry during the Green Revolution let the people get slaughtered after the corrupt voting in Iran.

  3. You know that is BS do you?
USA needs to stay clear of this springtime false revolution

    • USA needs to stay clear of this springtime false revolution

While Iran is more than capable of creating a “tar baby” to further embarrass the USA, there remains the necessity of crushing Tehran’s regional (and worldwide) influence. It is of the highest priority—if only to quash Iran’s nuclear aspirations (which are second only to North Korea in terms of global destabilization).

For further insights, please read the (somewhat lengthy but superb) essay: “No Substitute for Victory”: The Defeat of Islamic Totalitarianism.

Anyone who has not read this outstanding analysis is heartily encouraged to do so. The decisive and absolute defeat of political Islam will remain a top priority for Western powers until that event shows up in history’s rear view mirror.

Recent festivities amongst the Saudi royals all point towards increasing (and thoroughly warranted) apprehensiveness on the part of Islamic tyrannies. Except, of course, full-goose-Bozo régimes like Iran that cannot possibly survive without exerting comprehensive domination of their thoroughly brainwashed populations.

Time will tell, and I’m not betting a plugged nickel on Islam.

Me either but the war won’t be a quick war and it will be a bloody war. The festering sore that is called Iran is going to have to be excised and a more humane nation take its place. The problem is who to excise the corruption and leave what is good. I keep hearing rumors that both Christianity and Zoroastrianism are making a come back in Iran which if true will help.

This is the 3rd time that there appears to be a chance to change Iran, the first was the chance for a meaningful revolution when we invaded Iraq. This hope was destroyed when we had to delay the invasion to give Tony Blair political cover. From what I saw at the time we could have knocked off Iraq and made a right turn to take out Iran with the help of the protesters/revolutionaries. We didn’t go in while the protests were going on and the Iranian secret police destroyed the resistance.

As you stated the second was under Obama who probably passed on to Iran all of the info we had about who the leaders of the new resistance were.

Now we have a 3rd chance that may or may not be a real resistance movement. Right now I am not sure I trust our intelligence outfits enough to take there word that it is real or believe them if they say it is not real.

        • From what I saw at the time we could have knocked off Iraq and made a right turn to take out Iran with the help of the protesters/revolutionaries.

Iran is much more problematic than Iraq. Imagine a country with the land mass of California, then throw in a few extra mountain ranges.

Much of the Iraq we had to address was relatively flat. Not so, Iran. None of which should preclude the US from lobbing in a few dozen cruise missiles during a plenary session of Iran’s Majlis (i.e., parliament).

Rinse and repeat until no-fecking-body in Iran dares to whisper “death to America”.

  4. I’m sure it’s an organic movement (eyeroll) and not the work of the tribe members who are running the State Department.

  5. So, what if Donald Trump explains to the People of Iran that the United States basically wants to be friends if they would just stop with the “Death to America” stuff and start allowing real elections. If the Iranians I have met are any indication they have no interest in being at war with the world and would love it if things got back to where they were in Shah Times when they could live like normal people…

Come on Donald. Tell them to man the ramparts and storm the barricades. It’s time for Persia to become a normal country instead of this bullshit North Korea rogue state thing they’ve got going on now…

  6. So, what if Donald Trump explains to the People of Iran that the United States basically wants to be friends if they would just stop with the “Death to America” stuff and start allowing real elections.

If only it were that simple. A central problem being that, in combination with the IRG (Iranian Revolutionary Guard), Tehran’s mullahs run the entire show (i.e., both government and industry). Much like with Communist countries, these elite theocrats have their fingers in every pie worth tasting. The IRG are hyper-zealots whose brainwashing is complete, along with much of the illiterate peasant class.

America, and its decadent (i.e., Hollyweird) culture, is a perfect bogeyman with which to scare the underclasses. No matter how oppressive Shiite culture happens to be—and it is very oppressive—it is still their culture and the notion of American-style beliefs taking hold in Iran scares the everliving crap out of everyone except the literate middle class and whatever part free-thinking part there is to Iran’s intelligentsia.

Iran is a pluperfect model of why Theocracy is so incredible evil. Small wonder that there are so many similarities between Iran and the thoroughly brainwashed nation of North Korea. Both of them are terrified of Western values leaking in around the edges and keep their people in a continual state of enraged indignation as part of diverting all attention away from the horrible mismanagement going on in their respective capitols.

If America wanted to crash Iran’s economy, all it would take is a couple of dozen cruise missiles tossed into their few remaining, superannuated gasoline refineries. This plan might require some additional strong-arming of India (to stop supplying Iran with refined gasoline), but that should not present a major problem in that Trump’s unequivocal criticism of Communist China (India’s own premier bogeyman) means that America has some genuine political leverage with New Dehli.

Few people are familiar with “khodkafa’i“, Ahmadinejad’s “self sufficiency” program that nearly destroyed Iran’s economy all by itself. Under this policy, there was a substantial halt to imports of any foreign goods, including replacement parts. The upshot was that perfectly functional machinery was cannibalized for spares to keep Iran’s industry—what little there is left of it—operating. This disastrous program also triggered massive capital flight which only served to further cripple the economy.

See the 2007 Wall Street Journal article: Iran’s Economic Crisis

    From the article:

Khodkafa’i has had catastrophic results on many sectors of the Iranian industry. Unable to reduce, let alone stop, imports of mass consumer goods (including almost half of the nation’s food) controlled by powerful mullahs and Revolutionary Guard commanders, President Ahmadinejad has tightened import rules for a range of raw materials and spare parts needed by factories across the nation. The policy has already all but killed the once-buoyant textile industry, destroying tens of thousands of jobs. It has also affected hundreds of small and medium-size businesses that, in some cases, have been unable to pay their employees for months.

Mr. Ahmadinejad has also used khodkafa’i as an excuse to freeze a number of business deals aimed at preventing the collapse of Iran’s aging and semi-derelict oil and gas fields. He has also vetoed foreign participation in building oil refineries, forcing the Islamic Republic to import more than 40% of the refined petroleum products consumed in Iran.

Also little known is how Iran’s entire economy relies upon heavy government subsidization of gas and diesel fuel prices. By exchanging crude oil for refined products, Tehran is able to keep the country’s rickety financial boat afloat. However, as mentioned above, demolishing the nation’s few gasoline refineries could create a serious tipping point.

Despite being ten years-old, the three page WSJ article is well worth reading as it provides rare insights into Iran’s frail economic state. All of which makes 0bama’s $1.7 billion infusion of capital into Iran just that much more heinous.

Fortunately for the West, Trump seems to recognize the need for maintaining this choke-hold on Iran. His plans to decertify the Iran nuclear deal should provide some degree of “reset” as part of repudiating 0bama’s flagrant pro-Islamic policies.

Also worth reading, although of greater length, is the previously linked article: “No Substitute for Victory”: The Defeat of Islamic Totalitarianism. by John David Lewis.

Although Sunni Islam is the larger threat, Iran’s version of Political Islam remains a virulent and malignant influence on regional and global politics. Crushing Iran would sent a vital message to the world that Political Islam (of any stripe) will no longer be tolerated.

    • So are you suggesting that it would not be a good idea for Donald Trump to tell the Iranian People that America has no intention of attacking them and genuinely desires a peaceful and prosperous co-existence? Are you saying because there are roadblocks to that, that the offer should not even be made because it is a waste of time and “too simple”? Respectfully, I think you are wrong and I think Donald Trump and the West should make it abundantly clear to the Iranian People that the rest of us aren’t just slavering over the opportunity to attack them, so they should quit being so paranoid. They should get the same message out to the people of North Korea. Nobody wants to attack them either…

      • Chris Jones, this evening isn’t the best time for me to reply regarding your well-deserved demand for a proper response.

Please give me 36 hours to give you the honorable answer that you richly deserve. Your questions are entirely appropriate and equally worthy of being answered. This holiday schedule complicates things but does not reduce the importance of giving you a well-deserved reply.

I sincerely hope that this means something,

I believe that it would “not be a good idea for Donald Trump to tell the Iranian People that America has no intention of attacking them”, because far too many Iranians are totally brainwashed to the point where they fully support Iran’s development of nuclear weapons.

If these protests were specifically about the diversion of government funds into building nuclear weapons, then my opinion might change. However, as you may have read, people are protesting Iran’s spending of money on foreign terrorist organizations which, although important, is not the same as assuring a walk-back from their nuclear program.

Until it’s been authentically verified that Iran has abandoned its efforts to acquire and deliver nuclear weapons (or other WMDs), all options should remain on the table.

None of which should prevent Trump from reaching out to Iran’s intelligentsia with a clear explanation that their hyper-corrupt mullahocracy’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons is the predominate reason why America is maintaining its military posture with respect to their country.

Same goes for North Korea. Should either of these countries be allowed to go nuclear it could destabilize the entire geopolitical situation.
