Convicted jihadi who aided failed London terror attack given council job in ‘blunder’ (express, Oct 10, 2017)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/864401/terror-london-jihadi-suicide-bombers-council-job-southwark-Mulumebet-Girma
“A CONVICTED jihadi who helped with a London Tube attack was given a top council job with potential access to details of terror suspects.
Mulumebet Girma, 33, was jailed for aiding the London July 21 bombers in 2008 but got a job council job after lying about her past.
The Ethiopian former model even appeared on the cover of the council’s magazine to promote its apprenticeship scheme.
Southwark Tory councillor Michael Mitchell said: “This is a truly shocking blunder.
“Allowing someone with that background to work with potentially vulnerable clients is an entirely avoidable risk. It’s a huge error.”
Girma was jailed for helping failed suicide bomber Hussain Osman flee after his plot to kill Tube passengers on July 21, 2005.
She helped him escape to Brighton before he took a Eurostar to Paris and ended up in Rome, where he was arrested.
Ms Girma was jailed for 10 years in 2008 but had her sentence reduced to five years after an appeal.
She got her job with Southwark Council as a trainee customer service assistant in 2013 shortly after being released.
She did not declare her criminal past and the council initially failed to uncover it…”

North Korea ‘hackers steal US-South Korea war plans’
Hackers from North Korea are reported to have stolen a large cache of military documents from South Korea, including a plan to assassinate North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un.
Rhee Cheol-hee, a South Korean lawmaker, said the information was from his country’s defence ministry.
The compromised documents include wartime contingency plans drawn up by the US and South Korea.
They also include reports to the allies’ senior commanders.
The South Korean defence ministry has so far refused to comment about the allegation.
Plans for the South’s special forces were reportedly accessed, along with information on significant power plants and military facilities in the South.

Robocops have been deployed in busy city centre in bid to control holiday crowds
Rather than looking like the impressive Robocops in the blockbuster films, the robots resemble vacuum cleaners
Robocops have been deployed in a busy city centre in a futuristic bid to control huge numbers of holiday crowds.
Police robots are being used for the first time by the authorities in China.
The bizarre looking bobbies have been used to control crowds during the recent public holidays.
But the made-in-China cops are nothing like the metallic bipedal humanoid android seen in the sci-fi film “RoboCop” and instead look like glorified vacuum cleaners.
However, the bots deployed this past week in the Chinese capital of Beijing are not to be underestimated, as they come with state-of-the-art facial recognition software that can sense danger – as well as an extendable electroshock arm.

Mattis to Army: ‘Stand ready’ if North Korea diplomacy fails
America’s relationship with North Korea remains a diplomatic one, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said Monday, but he urged members of the military to be prepared in case the situation breaks down.
Mattis also used his keynote speech at the annual AUSA conference in Washington, D.C., to thank allies who have stood with the U.S. through the ages.

The Armed Forces are preparing for a potential war with North Korea, sources have revealed.
Officials have been instructed to draw up plans for how Britain would respond if war broke out with Pyongyang amid heightening tensions between the West and dictator Kim Jong-Un.
One option involves deploying Britain’s new aircraft carrier – due to be handed over to the Navy later this year – to the region before she has undergone flight trials.
Details of the secret operation plan have emerged after Donald Trump warned that ‘only one thing will work’ when it comes to dealing with North Korea, which has continued nuclear and rocket tests despite widespread condemnation.

North Korean missiles will be able to reach U.S. after modernization: Ifax cites Russian lawmaker
MOSCOW (Reuters) – North Korea’s leadership has told Russian lawmakers that it possesses a ballistic missile with a range of 3,000 kilometers (1864.11 miles) that will be able to reach U.S. territory after modernization, the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.
Interfax cited Anton Morozov, a lawmaker and member of the lower house of parliament’s international affairs committee, who visited Pyongyang from October 2-6.

NFL meltdown blows the dam on MSM’s centralized media model
By J.E. Dyer October 10, 2017
One analogy and a little explainer, and we’re off to the races here.
If you’ve seen Guy Hamilton’s World War II movie Force 10 from Navarone (and really, who hasn’t?), you know the plot. Based “loosely” on the novel by Alistair MacLean, the story is about British special forces men (played by Robert Shaw and Edward Fox) who are operating in the Balkans, and who in the course of the movie need to take out a bridge over which the Germans intend to move a massed force against the local partisans.
The bridge can’t be blown, according to the explosives expert. But there’s a dam up-river, and if it can be blown, and the water released, the sudden onrush of pressure could well compromise the bridge and make it impassable. The bridge spans a gorge, so taking it out would effectively stall the German advance.
Our heroes Mallory and Miller manage, after overcoming numerous obstacles, to set charges at the base of the dam. (Harrison Ford joins them along the way, playing an American officer named Barnsby.) The explosives work, but the dam holds.
Until it doesn’t. The effect isn’t immediate, but weakening the dam gets the process rolling – and the weight of the water does the rest. Before the movie ends, the dam collapses, sending millions of gallons of water hurtling toward the bridge. The bridge shudders and topples in an impressive sequence. The Germans are stopped; the partisans saved.

Be sure and read the entire article, her take is a good one and one that will help break the leftist hold on the US media, I am not sure what will break their hold in Canada, Britain and hte rest of the anglophone world but once one of the nations leftist news media collapse the rest will probably follow suit. The problem outside of the US is that the nations have state paid news medias and this will make the collapse slower and dependent on the leftist governments collapsing. They are but much slower then in I would like, they are giving the Islamic invaders too much time to strengthen their positions inside the major cities.
Libya: At least 4,000 in limbo after being freed from smuggling camps
Around 4,000 migrants were brought to a detention centre in Sabratha, Monday, after they were removed from people smuggling camps.
Here are the five things Secretary Jim Mattis wants you to read
By LU Staff October 9, 2017
It was great to come across this summary from DCNF’s Saagar Enjeti of Secretary Mattis’ reading short-list today, as a reminder that we always benefit from taking time to take the long view.
It was no surprise to see Fehrenbach’s This Kind of War prominent in Mattis’ list. The book about the Korean War has been a favorite of military readers – especially of the ground-pounders (Army and Marines) – for years. Its most famous passage is the one I quote here. These brief paragraphs capture well why the relationship between military commitment and the soul of our nation are so closely linked, and why it can never be a light decision to put our young men in the mud. – J.E.

Richard: Read the rest of the article.
Always remember that you can’t win a war by bombing, you can destroy the enemy nation by bombing but that rarely breaks the enemies will to resist. Until you break the enemies will to resist the war isn’t over, you haven’t won. The best you have done is provide a brief period of time to rearm and refit before the fighting starts once again. Wars are one by scared kids on the ground digging the enemy out of their holes with knifes on the end of rifles.
This is why the infantry is the Queen of the Battlefield, they are what win the wars. The causality adverse public (partially made that way by the leftist media) who scream for clean wars with no causalities are only guaranteeing that the next war will be much longer and much bloodier because then have taught the enemy that we will retreat once a certain level or perceived level of causalities has been reached.
Always remember that “In war there is no substitute for victory” and that victory can only be achieved by destroying the enemies will to resist. This is done by killing people and breaking things, and in the end must be done by people on the ground doing nasty things to the enemy.
Also remember that unless part of those boots and American boots our allies will not trust the US to defend them because we will have proven we won’t risk our soldiers lives to defend our allies homelands. Without allies the US would not be able to survive, we have too many internal enemies to be able to go it alone.
That’s the signal weakness of Bibi and the military command in Israel. Though personally courageous in combat, they won’t *kill* enough to *win*. “Mowing the lawn” is more bovine fertilizer than rational strategy.
It isn’t just the pressure to back off that comes shrieking from the West. That becomes an excuse. It’s Bibi’s nature. It so enraged his father, Ben Zion, he didn’t speak to his son for a couple years. Ben Zion Netanyahu was an extraordinary man. Awesome.
I’m very close to Anglo-American Israelis who are much like Bibi-the-Sabra.
But the good Lord also created the Mizrachi Jews. Middle Easterners made of different stuff, they’re both religiously observant and secular fighters. They’re exceptionally prolific as well.
East meets West in the army, a naturally matey environment. That’s why integration is so rapid second and third generation. Hybrid vigor may be a bonus; it’ll certainly be a challenge.
DAILY MAIL – AUSTRALIA – Islamic preacher slams Muslim parents for playing music to their children on the car radio on the way to the mosque – and for letting kids DANCE at home
Muslim morals campaigner Nassim Abdi says parents should let kids hear music
Sydney Sunni fundamentalist preacher slammed them for having car radio on
He said letting kids hear music on way to and from mosque would dilute faith
An Islamic preacher from western Sydney has slammed Muslim parents for playing music to their children on the way to the mosque and allowing them to dance at home.
Sunni fundamentalist morals campaigner Nassim Abdi said it was wrong for parents to have the radio on as they drove to and from the mosque.
‘We have children who are drowning in the listening of music, day and night, to the extent where we have parents taking their children to learn the book of Allah, learning the Koran … but on the way there, and on the way back, the children are in the car listening to music,’ he said.
The Islamic teacher, who has previously criticised Muslim women for showing their ears and necks in public and plucking their eyebrows, also said it was wrong for parents to allow their children to listen to music at home.
‘When they get home, the parents are listening to music,’ he said.
‘The parents encourage them to listen to music and to dance and to make videos and to make a joke out of it and to make fun out of it and to post it online.
‘What is going to be bred into the heart of this child: the love of the Koran or the love of music?’
Mr Abdi hails from the hardline Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah Association, an ultra-conservative Salafist form of Sunni Islam from Saudi Arabia.
His sermon, delivered at Auburn in Sydney’s west, said parents were ‘lacking Islamically’ because they were unwittingly teaching their children to overlook Sharia law, a Muslim legal system.
‘This breeds in the child extreme confusion to the extent many a time, they look towards the Shariah with disrespect, maybe not at the young, tender age but as they get older,’ he said.

What’s going to be bred into these children’s hearts is an intense hatred for dour, puritanical, no-fun Islam. Any child psychologist can tell you that unstructured play is crucial to brain development and robust mental health.
It is more than a little telling that these imams demand constant indoctrination and solemnity from kids. Let’s all hope these youngsters gang up and kick the living crap out of controlling tyrants like Nassim Abdi.

Turkey’s Erdogan says arrested US consulate staffer is a spy (abcnews, Oct 10, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkey-us-permission-prosecute-citizen-50385478
“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday branded a U.S. consulate staffer who was arrested by Turkish authorities a spy and said it was Turkey’s rights to take steps against “an internal threat,” in the latest swipe in an escalating feud with the United States.
Speaking at a news conference in Belgrade, Serbia, Erdogan also accused the U.S. ambassador to Turkey of wrecking ties between the NATO allies by suspending the issuing of visas to Turkish citizens at U.S. diplomatic missions following the arrest of Metin Topuz, a Turkish citizen employed at the U.S. consulate in Istanbul…”
‘We’re not a tribal state’: Turkey slams US visa suspension, vows retaliation (RT, Oct 10, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/news/406272-turkey-us-visa-row/
“Top Turkish officials have lashed out at the US, stating that Turkey “is not a tribal state” and does not need Washington’s permission to detain and prosecute suspects. The Turkish prime minister promised to “retaliate” over the suspension of non-immigrant visas.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly criticized the US decision to suspend issuing visas to Turkish citizens, following the arrest of Metin Topuz, a Turkish citizen employed at the US consulate in Istanbul.
“There is nothing to discuss with the US if the administration initiated the visa row,” Erdogan said on Tuesday, while speaking at a joint news conference with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, in Belgrade.
Erdogan questioned whether the move was made by the US ambassador to Ankara or the administration itself…”
So they are a tribal state then. You know, by the denial of the denial. lol But seriously that is what we apparently have to do with here. Same as Hitlery did, same as the OIC does, same as the globalist cooks are doing and so on and so forth (i.e lying straight into our faces about the obvious and even eventually accusing “us” of doing what they are manifestly doing). What a weird world we live in.

Erdogan holds talks in Serbia as Turkey hikes Balkan clout (abcnews, Oct 10, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/erdogan-holds-talks-serbia-turkey-hikes-balkan-clout-50389519
“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with Serbia’s president on Tuesday as Ankara stepped up efforts to increase its clout in the Balkans.
Erdogan’s talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic focused on trade and investment, but also covered political relations in the region, where many countries have historic and religious links with Turkey from centuries of Ottoman rule.
Erdogan said that the current trade exchange between the two countries of $800 million (682 million euros) “is not enough” and that it should rapidly grow in the near future.
He promised more Turkish investments, including into a highway linking the Serbian and Bosnian capitals.
Erdogan said at a joint press conference with Vucic that more investments and road links would “solve the problems in the Balkans.”
Relations between Serbia and Turkey have improved recent years, after decades of mistrust between the two nations. Serbia was ruled for almost 500 years by the Ottoman Empire.
Turkey backed Bosnian Muslims in the 1990s war that pitted them against the Christian Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croats.
“This is not 1389, but 2017,” Vucic said, referring to the year when the Ottoman occupation of Serbia started. “Today, Serbia considers Turkey as its friend.”
Serbian and Turkish officials signed several agreements on Tuesday, including an amended free trade accord that will open the Turkish market to several Serb products.
Erdogan will travel with Vucic to the predominantly Muslim-populated southern Sandzak region of Serbia on Wednesday.”

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkey-arrests-30-military-officers-coup-probe-50389415
“Turkey’s state-run news agency says authorities have arrested 30 members of the armed forces and issued arrest warrants for 40 more as part of an ongoing investigation into last year’s failed coup attempt blamed on a U.S.-based Muslim cleric.
Anadolu Agency said police launched operations Tuesday in seven provinces to catch 70 active duty officers, from the air force, navy, army, and gendarmerie, over suspected links to cleric Fethullah Gulen’s movement.
The agency said the arrest warrants were issued following the testimonies of alleged members of Gulen’s movement. Last month, authorities arrested 117 military officers across Turkey.
Turkey launched a large-scale crackdown following the July 2016 coup attempt, dismissing more than 110,000 people from government jobs and arresting more than 50,000 people. Gulen denies involvement.”
Turkmenistan’s president ends welfare subsidies (abcnews, Oct 10, 2017)

“Turkmenistan’s president has ordered an end to free natural gas, electricity and water, which residents of the ex-Soviet nation have enjoyed for a quarter century.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said the move would encourage a more rational use of the Central Asian nation’s resources. Tuesday’s move comes as the gas-rich desert nation has faced economic troubles because of a slump in global energy prices.
Berdymukhamedov has ruled Turkmenistan since 2006, when he assumed power after the death of his autocratic predecessor. He has established an elaborate personality cult of his own.
The Turkmen parliament revised the nation’s constitution to set up the People’s Council that will take over key legislative functions. At the same time, another organ, the Council of Elders, named Berdymukhamedov the Hero of Turkmenistan for the second time.”

“Egypt’s military has bulldozed at least 140 homes and more than 200 acres along the Gaza Strip border, expanding a buffer zone in an effort to cut off the flow of weapons and militants.
The governor of Northern Sinai province, Maj. Gen. Abdel-Fatah Harhour, told The Associated Press late Monday that the military began a new phase in clearing the zone, which is 1,500 meters (4,900 feet) wide and 10 kilometers (6 miles) long.
Egypt has struggled to combat an Islamic State-led insurgency in the northern Sinai since 2014, and has built the buffer zone to prevent the militants from using a vast tunnel network under the border that was created to evade a decade-old Israeli and Egyptian blockade on the territory.
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that rules Gaza, has also worked to secure the border in recent months as it tries to improve ties with Cairo. Hamas has cracked down on more extreme rivals, including supporters of the Islamic State group…”

Belgium said it backed a school in the south of Hebron only to find out in 2013 that local authorities changed its name to “Dalal Mughrabi Elementary School.”
Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said that Mughrabi was “a Palestinian terrorist” who led a 1978 attack against Israel which killed 38, including 13 children.
“Belgium will not allow itself to be associated with the names of terrorists in any way,” a statement from Reynders’ office said. Two projects totaling $3.9 million have been put on hold.”

North Korean hackers ‘stole US-South Korea war plans’ (RT, Oct 10, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/news/406255-north-korea-hack-south-us-war-plans/
“North Korean hackers reportedly stole thousands of military documents detailing war plans of South Korea and the US, including plans to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
South Korean lawmaker Rhee Cheol-hee made the claim on Tuesday, saying the information came from Seoul’s Defense Ministry, Yonhap reports. Rhee sits on the defense committee and is a member of the country’s ruling party.
The South Korean Defense Ministry has not commented on the allegations.
The data, said to be 235 gigabytes of military documents, was stolen from the Defense Integrated Data Center in September 2016. Rhee said 80 percent of the information hadn’t been identified.
“The Ministry of National Defense has yet to find out about the content of 182 gigabytes of the total (stolen) data,” the lawmaker said
The documents reportedly include contingency plans for war, drawn up by the US and South Korea, along with details on power plants and military facilities.
Operational Plan 5015 is the latest Seoul-Washington protocol for war with Pyongyang, and contains plans to “decapitate” the North Korean leadership. Operational Plan 3100 details how to respond to North Korean provocations, Yonhap reports.
In May, South Korea said it had a large amount of data stolen and that North Korea may have been behind it, although the secretive state denied this.
News of the hack is likely to further fuel tensions between the US and North Korea, as leaders of the two countries have been exchanging insults over Pyongyang’s recent missile tests.
The Washington Post reports US President Donald Trump gave a directive for US Cyber Command to target hackers in North Korea’s intelligence agency, the Reconnaissance General Bureau, early in his presidency. It attacked its computer servers with traffic that choked off internet access.”

“A 32-year-old Turkish man has been convicted of spying in Germany for Turkish intelligence on a Kurdish politician and activists.
The dpa news agency reported Tuesday that Mehmet Fatih S., whose last name wasn’t given in line with privacy laws, was sentenced in Hamburg state court to two years’ probation for spying for the Turkish intelligence service MIT.
His activities included spying on a German-based politician who headed a Kurdish group in Germany and now is part of the leadership of a Brussels-based Kurdish umbrella group.
The suspect, who was arrested in December in Hamburg, will have to pay court costs and a fine of 20,950 euros ($24,720) — the amount he received for his spying.
German immigration authorities will determine whether he’ll have to leave the country.”
Mouth Control, Not More Gun Control, Is What We Need
How the Democratic Party’s “Resistance” and Trump Derangement Syndrome are inciting a violent war against Republicans and conservatives.
October 10, 2017
David Horowitz and Matthew Vadum
While the left side of the political spectrum responded to the mass shooting in Las Vegas with fevered calls for gun controls, which even Democrats admit would not have prevented the massacre, they have done nothing to rein in their hateful rhetoric demonizing Trump supporters and providing clear incitements to deranged individuals like Stephen Paddock to commit heinous acts of violence. Leftist celebrity Nancy Sinatra notoriously tweeted “Murderous members of NRA should face firing squad” – to express her politically correct assumption that a gun, rather than an individual incited by hateful comments like hers, was responsible for the slaughter.
Nor are Democrats unaware that their reckless rhetorical attacks can have deadly results. Republican Congressman Steve Scalise nearly lost his life at the hands of a Bernie Sanders supporting Democrat, James T. Hodgkinson, during a baseball game this summer. Just last week a local prosecutor officially found that the shooter committed an “act of terrorism” that was “fueled by rage against Republican legislators.” Nonetheless Union County, New Jersey Democrat operative James Devine tweeted his support for the assailant. “We are in a war with selfish, foolish & narcissistic rich people. Why is it a shock when things turn violent?” he wrote, adding the hashtag “#HuntRepublicanCongressmen[.]”

Harvey Weinstein Isn’t About Male Misbehavior, But Leftist Power
October 10, 2017
Daniel Greenfield
It’s a safe bet that whatever the issue, Lena Dunham should never be heard from in any way relating to it. Not because, as she would assert, she’s a woman. But because she’s a narcassistic machine capable of doing little except taking pictures of herself and emitting leftist memes.
But the New York Times decided to give her space for an op-ed.
“Harvey Weinstein and the Silence of the Men,” is the headline. And that’s all I’ll quote.
The issue isn’t the “silence of men”. Take Meryl Streep, the grande dame of Hollywood, who announced she was appalled at Harvey only after he resigned. And all the other actresses releasing their belated condemnations once the big man was down.
Women were just as silent as men. If not more so. The most vocal Harvey apologist now is Donna Karan.
Harvey Weinstein made a lot of people’s careers. Men and women. He could also break careers. Those of men and women.
There’s no mystery here. Everyone on the inside knew what he was. Even plenty of those with only a passing knowledge of the industry knew.

Viewing Enemy Regimes as They Are, Not as We Wish They Were
by Peter Huessy

https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11121/enemy-regimes
During his first press conference after taking office in January 1981, US President Ronald Reagan called détente a “one-way street that the Soviet Union has used to pursue its own aims.” Echoing this remark while addressing reporters later the same day, Secretary of State Alexander Haig said that the Soviets were the source of much support for international terrorism, especially in Latin and Central America.
The following day, both Reagan and Haig were criticized for their remarks, with members of the media describing the president’s words as “reminiscent of the chilliest days of the Cold War,” and appalled that the administration’s top diplomat was accusing the Russians of backing terrorist activities.
Nearly four decades later, in spite of the successful defeat of the Soviet empire, the White House is still frowned upon when it adopts a tough stance towards America’s enemies. Today’s outrage is directed at President Donald Trump’s warnings about — and to — North Korea and Iran. The Washington Post called his recent “fire and fury” threats to Pyongyang a “rhetorical grenade,” for example, echoing top Democrats’ attacks on his remarks for being “reckless” and “irresponsible.”
Critics of Trump’s attitude towards Tehran go equally far, describing his opposition to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — the nuclear deal with Iran — as “rushing headlong into war.”

Independence for Kurdistan
by John R. Bolton
October 10, 2017 at 3:00 am
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11134/kurdistan-independence
Iraqi Kurdistan’s recent referendum on whether to declare independence from Baghdad garnered only slight attention in the U.S. Even the overwhelming vote (93 percent favored independence) and America’s long involvement in the region did not make the story more prominent.
Nonetheless, we would be badly mistaken to underestimate its importance for U.S. policy throughout the Middle East.
Protecting American interests in that tumultuous region has never been easy. Not only does Iran’s nuclear-weapons threat loom ever larger, but the struggle against terrorism, whether from Hezbollah, ISIS, al-Qaida or any number of new splinter groups, seems unending.
Less visible but nonetheless significant forces are also at work. Existing state structures across the Middle East are breaking down and new ones are emerging, exacerbating the spreading anarchy caused by radical Islamic terrorism. Non-ideological factors such as ethnicity and cultural differences are enormously powerful and best understood as movements in the region’s “tectonic plates,” stirring beneath the surface of the more apparent threats of terrorism and nuclear proliferation.
“Nearly four decades later, in spite of the successful defeat of the Soviet empire, the White House is still frowned upon when it adopts a tough stance towards America’s enemies.”
Those doing the most frowning typically are the same people who bellyache about America being the Global Cop™. Whenever you hear one of these whiners squealing about this, remember to ask that complainant who they’d rather have as the World’s Policeman™.
“Nobody!” is not an acceptable answer: As political power, just like Mother Nature, abhors a vacuum. Were America to entirely disappear from the face of this earth, some other nation would step into our still-warm shoes and assume the status of planetary law enforcer.
Be sure to ask whomever is doing all the pissing-and-moaning, “Which country would you rather have serve in that capacity, please? Russia? Communist China? North Korea? Iran?”
When confronted with this polite request, around 90% of the time these same malcontents suddenly go all quiet and begin muttering about how the USA still doesn’t deserve such status.
Permit me to refer you to a
total waste of fü¢king timebook, “How the End Begins: The Road to a Nuclear World War III“, by Ron Rosenbaum. In it he elaborately details the incalculable dangers of limited or global nuclear conflict. But wait … there’s more!In his scribbled peroration, Rosenbaum suggests a centralized (i.e., UN-style) ‘global nuclear command’—which would be in sole possession of all atomic weapons—and then just-as-quickly concedes that any such agency would have an insurmountable degree of coercive power over all other nations.

Authorities have indicted a former Democratic Party chair over a major campaign bribery scandal involving the 2012 Obama re-election campaign.
G. Steven Pigeon, who served as the Democratic Party Chair of Erie County, New York, has been charged with eight counts for allegedly bribing a state Supreme Court justice.
Pigeon’s charges include one count of conspiracy to commit bribery and honest services wire fraud, three counts of honest services wire fraud, one count of federal programs bribery, and three counts of violation of the Travel Act, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In February 2012, Pigeon promised a member of Supreme Court Justice John Michalek’s immediate family a job on Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. He later offered to help the same family member get a job in the State Department, which at the time was being run by Hillary Clinton.

Prisoners charged with planning France attack
PARIS (AFP) – French security forces believe they have prevented a terror attack being plotted by two inmates in a French jail, casting a new spotlight Tuesday (Oct 10) on the problem of radicalisation in the country’s prisons.
Sources close to the investigation said late Monday that the men were accused of discussing a potential hostage-taking or machine gun attack from their cell at the Fresnes prison south of Paris.
One of the suspects is a 28-year-old from Cameroon described by authorities as an Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) sympathiser, while the other is a 22-year-old Frenchman. Both were set to be released this month.
The Cameroonian was believed to have been in contact with a person in Iraq or Syria, where the ISIS’s self-proclaimed “caliphate” has lost swathes of territory.
The two had been considering different potential targets such as police or prison guards, a source said on condition of anonymity.
Both were behind bars for non-terror offences and are suspected of being radicalised while serving their sentences. They were charged Friday with being part of a terrorist conspiracy.
The Cameroonian, who was due to be released Tuesday, confirmed to investigators that he was planning on carrying out an attack, a source said.
The Frenchman was due to be released next week.
Terror investigators moved to arrest them after a 44-year-old man from the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, who was in contact with the pair, indicated he was “planning on heading to the mainland to offer them logistical support”.
Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said Tuesday that France urgently needed to stop prisoners from being radicalised behind bars.
“What was revealed yesterday is testament to the urgency of the situation,” she told Europe 1 radio.
In August, a radicalised prisoner attacked two guards at the Osny prison north of the capital in what was seen as France’s first extremist assault within a jail.
The prisoner, who was behind bars for attempting to travel to militant-held territory in Syria, told investigators he “wanted to kill a prison guard” in the name of ISIS.
France has suffered a string of extemist attacks over the past two years that have left more than 240 people dead.
Some of those responsible were involved in Muslim networks in jail, including Cherif Kouachi, one of the gunmen who attacked satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in January 2015, and his friend Amedy Coulibaly who killed four at a Jewish supermarket two days later.
Fresnes is one of three French prisons under special watch for radicalisation, where prisoners are assessed for signs of extremism before their arrival.

GOUDA MOSQUE BANS CITY COUNCILOR SUSPECTED OF CHILD SEX ABUSE
By Janene Pieters on October 2, 2017 – 12:10
Khalid T., PvdA city councilor in Gouda and director of Islamic primary school An Noer, was arrested last week on suspicion of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. Mosque Nour in Gouda is shocked by his arrest and decided that T. is no longer welcome in the mosque, the mosque chairman said to the Telegraaf.
“Khalid is still a suspect, but he is no longer welcome here”, the chairman of the mosque said to the newspaper. “If he still comes in, I’ll say that he has to leave, or we’ll call the police. We are very shocked by this.”
According to Omroep West, the 13-year-old girl’s parents reported the abuse to the police in August. An investigation was launched, and T. was arrested last week Monday.
The Public Prosecutor confirmed to RTL Nieuws that the 32-year-old school director was arrested and is in custody. The victim was not a student at An Noer and there is no evidence that T. also abused kids at the school, the Prosecutor said.
A board member of An Noer told the broadcaster that the school is shocked by the arrest. The school sent out a letter to inform parents and students about what happened.
The PvdA also revoked Khalid T.’s membership, the party announced in a statement. “The faction of the PvdA Gouda has with astonishment taken note of the arrest of K.T. For the faction it is very clear that given the seriousness of the situation, K.T. can no longer be part of the faction. The national party management took note of the situation and decided to withdraw K.T.’s membership”, the statement read.
The chairman of Mosque Nour emphasized that no sexual abuse happened at the mosque, and that Khalid T. only occasionally visited the mosque, mostly during Ramadan. “The mosque is only for praying. Nothing happened here. We do not want anything to do with this”, he said to the Telegraaf.

Cost of walking from Afghanistan would be much higher than staying: Stoltenberg (khaama, Oct 10, 2017)
http://www.khaama.com/cost-of-walking-from-afghanistan-would-be-much-higher-than-staying-stoltenberg-03617
“The NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said the cost of walking away from Afghanistan would be much higher than the cost of staying in the country.
Speaking at the plenary session at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Romania on Monday, Stoltenberg said “The situation in Afghanistan is challenging. We all understand the cost of staying in Afghanistan. The human cost and the financial cost. But the cost of walking away would be much higher.”
Stoltenberg further added “If NATO leaves too soon, we risk Afghanistan returning to a state of chaos.
A safe haven for international terrorism.”
He also added that “I have just returned from a trip to Afghanistan together with US Secretary of Defence Mattis.”
There is a renewed commitment to our efforts in Afghanistan, the Secretary General said, adding that “I have seen how well NATO troops are working with Afghan security forces.
Providing training and support to them. Helping them to make progress on the battlefield, and reduce their casualties.”
Stoltenberg last month arrived to Kabul with the US Secretary of Defense where he called on the Taliban to join peace talks and warned that the alliance has never stepped back when the situation gets tough.
In the meantime, the Afghan officials are optimistic regarding the growing role of the NATO to support Afghanistan in the aftermath of the new US strategy announced by President Donald Trump late in August.”

He was found guilty of multiple homicide, abducting hundreds of fellow Somali nationals for ransom, and sexual violence against dozens of young women and girls. The sentence was issued by the Milan Court of Assizes chaired by Giovanna Ichino after about five hours of deliberating.
Matamudd, who has consistently professed his innocence and claimed to have been the victim of torture himself, said “now I hope in heaven”.”

Man jailed over stolen truck rampage (thelocal, Oct 10, 2017)
https://www.thelocal.se/20171010/man-jailed-over-stolen-truck-rampage-eskilstuna-sweden
“A 39-year-old man who stole a truck and drove through a Swedish town, ramming several other vehicles, has been sentenced to nine months in jail, writes regional newspaper Eskilstuna-Kuriren.
The truck was stolen outside a hotel in central Swedish town Eskilstuna and driven through the town centre, hitting three parked vehicles and bicycles on the way, before being abandoned.
On Monday he was found guilty of car theft, gross carelessness in traffic and absconding, and sentenced to nine months in jail, writes Eskilstuna-Kuriren.
The man had been taken into police custody for drunkenness the night before the incident. When he was released early in the morning he went to a hotel in central Eskilstuna, which would not let him into the breakfast room. He then stole the truck and went on his rampage through town.
No one was injured in the incident, but just a stone’s throw from where the truck was abandoned, an international food festival was under way, with many people out and about.
Although the cases turned out to be quite different, it initially sparked memories among many of the terror attack in central Stockholm on April 7th when a stolen truck ploughed into pedestrians. Several streets were cordoned off in Eskilstuna and the national bomb squad was called in to examine the vehicle.
The man admitted stealing the truck, but told the court he only drove it to the outskirts of Eskilstuna and dumped it there. However, a witness identified him as the driver when the truck drove through the centre.
Stockholm District Court also found him guilty on Monday of a number of cases of theft, fencing stolen goods and narcotics offences. He is also to pay more than 20,000 kronor ($2,500) to people whose cars were damaged and to victims of previous car break-ins, writes Eskilstuna-kuriren.”

“The government will allocate 60 billion dirhams ($6.35 billion) for education in the 2018 budget, but will allocate much less to fighting illiteracy” said Ismail al-Alawi, head of the Scientific Committee for Combating Illiteracy.
Al-Alawi made the remarks at a press conference in Rabat to announce a national debate to combat illiteracy, which will take place on Friday and Saturday in the city of Skhirat near the capital.
The debate seeks to set a plan to reduce the illiteracy rate in the country to 10 per cent by 2026, compared with 32 per cent counted in 2014…”

International experts warned on Tuesday about security shortcomings at French and Belgian nuclear plants that make them vulnerable to attack, in a report commissioned by the Greenpeace group.
France has the second-biggest fleet of nuclear plants in the world, after the United States, with 58 reactors providing 75 percent of the country’s

The seven experts from France, Germany, Britain and the US — specialists in nuclear safety, proliferation, economics and radiation — looked at various attack scenarios involving plants in both countries, some of which date back over three decades.
Noting the “very high level of threat to security in France and Europe” they said nuclear power plants were “without a doubt, a risk”…”
