  1. UK police earn millions training forces from Saudi Arabia and its allies (middleeasteye, Sep 15, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/uk-police-earn-millions-training-saudi-uae-kuwaiti-and-omani-forces-926860504

“The British government has earned more than $4.4m by training the police forces of Middle East states with authoritarian rights records, it has been revealed

The College of Policing, an arm of the Home Office, has provided training to 23 countries, including Saudi Arabia since it was set up by Theresa May in 2012, the Guardian reported.

The training includes courses on “international leadership” and “international strategic leadership”, but has been attacked as “another example” of the UK putting trade and security above human rights concerns.

Documents obtained by the newspaper after a freedom of information request show that 90 percent of the funds earned by the college came from countries with the death penalty on the statute books.

Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry is the biggest recipient of leadership training and paid more than $1.6m for 815 days’ training since 2011. During the same period Saudi Arabia executed 641 people, according to rights group Reprieve.

“It is yet another example that when trade deals and security alliances are on offer in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world, Theresa May’s government throws any concern for human rights out the window,” said Emily Thornberry, the shadow foreign secretary.

Bahrain, UAE, Oman and Kuwait, where the death penalty remains legal, together paid more than $1.7m to the organisations, while 18 countries, including Indonesia, paid the remaining amount.

“The College of Policing appears to have made a substantial profit from a massive crackdown on dissent in the Gulf since the Arab spring. Ministers say this training will improve Gulf policing but, in reality, things have got worse as UK-trained bodies in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have increased their use of torture and the death penalty for juveniles and protesters,” Maya Foa, director of Reprieve, said…”

    • Like in all life issues, there are good and bad people and this applies to cops also.
I have the greatest respect for police officers but I found out it’s a clan thing in certain areas where they themselves think they can lie (perjury) and violate innocent citizens without repercussions. The King Of The Road attitude.

Never in my life have I had a problem with police officers (I got along great with them), until I moved to my current residence. The police force here are not respected by the citizenry in general and for good reason. Sad because the good cops are tainted by the cops and the good cops will never denounce the bad cops.

    • What an amazing video. Our “foundation myth” did used to be all about settlers and pioneers, didn’t it… But now it’s all about how much like Adolf Hitler you are. If you even want to talk about immigration, you more like Adolf Hitler with each word you speak. If you dare to mention your pioneer forefathers, you are immediately drowned out by memes, like the one about the blankets full of smallpox being given to the Indians. They’ve even blacked out the wise words of Bill Cosby. And you can see that they are zeroing in on George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, and you can bet they’ll find something to hate about Davy Crockett soon enough.

In a world of moral relativism where everything is everything, the only thing that you can definitely have an opinion on is the Nazis. Well isn’t this just perfectly crazy? We’ve all gone flipping insane, ’cause as far as I know there is no more than a small handful of actual neo-Nazis in the world, and pretty much all of them are nuts. But the left is trying their hardest to create new neo-Nazis as they goad the existing ones out of their hiding places with stunts like tearing down the General Lee Statue in Charlottesville. You can see it in the young communists of Antifa. They are absolutely dying to mix it up with Nazis. That’s all they think about. They want to kill Nazis, and kill and kill and kill… That’s how the left now sees the world…

    • I am at 3 minutes in and he is missing or ignoring the fact that the destruction of our history and the facts about the foundation of our nations was deliberately suppressed with only massive negative information (at times massive lies) by the far left to destroy Western Civilization so they can create their neo feudal utopia. Talking about the problem without talking about the cause of the problem isn’t going to do much good. Without educating the people about why we are no longer taught the good things of history is one thing we must do if we are to undo the damage to our culture and Civilization. Although I have come to the conclusion it will probably be impossible to save the current civilization, we are going to have to rebuild a new Civilization once the war of survival is won.

      • The cause? Change Agents: Howard Zinn, Bill Ayers and others..

“We teach them to take their patriotism at second-hand; to shout with the largest crowd without examining into the right or wrong of the matter — exactly as boys under monarchies are taught and have always been taught. We teach them to regard as traitors, and hold in aversion and contempt, such as do not shout with the crowd, and so here in our democracy we are cheering a thing which of all things is most foreign to it and out of place — the delivery of our political conscience into somebody else’s keeping. This is patriotism on the Russian plan.” ~ Mark Twain, a Biography

        • Like I said the far left has been working to destroy Western Civilization by insuring that the facts of history are no longer taught, that the only history taught is a distortion of the bad that has been done. Distorted to make it worse then it really was.

            • If you listen close you can hear the other Founding Fathers screaming about how the left is destroying the government they created.

              • So far away, you hear them, too!
                It’s like an earthquake.

They’re really disgusted with us – those still above ground here in New England. Small consolation that California is even worse.

Maybe I shouldn’t use the word “earthquake” so close to “California”…

  3. Life Paris France:

Hundreds of members of the security forces (police) are demonstrating this September 16 in Paris and other French cities to denounce the deterioration of their working conditions and to obtain an improvement.

    • The demonstration also includes the wives and partners of police.

A little glance at what the French Police are up against:

      • The big question is how many of the police are as angry as he is and how many are selling out their fellow police to gain favor with the political masters. The latter are well known to the former and if there are enough of the former we may see a revolt by the police and hopefully the military. That is about the only hope for France right now, the civilian resistance is small but growing in the cities (probably much larger in the small towns and country) but isn’t enough to pull off a successful revolution/coup on their own, they need professional help.

        • @ Richard. Do you remember the French Police Officer who, after a Fench National had been decapitated put on his face book page a picture of the ISIS leader whotshisname with a target on his forehead.
He got reported by a muslim colleague (Algerian), lost his job, a violent attack – rather an attempted murder, interrupted by some bypassers – was done on him, he got sacked, prosecuted, is not allowed to even work in security (his speciality), condemned to a fine he could not afford with the alternative being prison – where he would be killed without any doubt seeing that 70 – 80 % of French prisons are filled with Arabo-Muslims….and so he now lives in Switzerland in Excile – where he just discovered that the French Hierarchy has him certified as a (Fichier 7 = Terrorist) since 2015.
He was very close to suicide (his son however needs him) yet that nasty piece of work who reported him, that Arab Muslima has gone up in the rank of the police.

    • See Islam is an Evil Cult. Say Islam is an Evil Cult. Sorted.

Is that what the UK police mean?

    • Thanks Richard;
JW is doing a lot of work but they never investigated O and his past. I believed Sheriff Joe Arpao who said the documents were forged. JW did not investigate the biggest fraud in our history : the usurpation of the Presidency of the USA:2008-2017.
      What do you think?

      • 1) I could use Gimp (the photo manipulation program I use) and make a better forgery then the one posted on the net.

        2) I am not sure, possibly because they didn’t think they could get enough info fast enough to protect them from O and his people. Remember when you try to kill the King you have to make sure you succeed or he will kill you. The Deep State Protected Clinton when he should have been convicted, removed from office and handed over to the Justice Department for prosecution. From what I heard O was a bigger threat then Clinton and we all know that the Clinton body count is probably higher then what is reported. After all it was Bill and Hillary that first brought up the birth place issue and then suddenly dropped the issue before any of the Primaries were held. How did O manage that?

        • How did O manage that?

All 0 had to do was threaten to play the race card. Within seconds, all of Hillary’s feminist credentials would have gone down in flames. Just as in Europe, accusations of racism trump all other offenses.

          • I heard that there were some threats that I won’t talk about since I don’t have any proof they were made.

  4. Soldiers drafted in and extra armed police on the streets as Theresa May raises terror level to CRITICAL after ISIS claim Tube bucket-bomb attack was carried out by a cell of several jihadis

Armed police have flooded London’s streets as the terror threat level was raised to critical amid fears the Parsons Green bomber could strike again, Theresa May announced tonight.

The introduction of Operation Temperer will see soldiers replacing police at key sites including nuclear power plants to free up extra armed officers for regular patrols.

Scotland Yard said it is making ‘excellent’ progress in hunting the suspected terrorist who set off a crude bucket bomb on a packed commuter train by Parsons Green tube station in west London at 8.20am.

Mrs May said in a statement from Number 10: ‘The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has now decided to raise the national threat level from severe to critical – this means their assessment is that a further attack may be imminent.’

Detectives investigating the terrorist attack at Parsons Green have made a “significant” arrest in connection with the attempted bombing.

The 18-year-old man was arrested by Kent Police in the port area of Dover on Saturday morning under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

He remains in custody at a local police station from where he will be transferred to a south London police station.

  6. WHERE WAS HE GOING?Parsons Green terror attack – ‘Significant arrest’ as teen held in port of Dover over Parsons Green ‘Mother of Satan’ Tube bomb as armed police flood streets to protect public

ISIS claimed a jihadi “squad” was behind the London Tube attack

A TEENAGER has been arrested in Dover over the “Mother of Satan” nail bomb on a packed Tube train at Parsons Green that injured 29 people as armed police patrol the UK.

Cops detained the 18-year-old boy this morning at the port and he is currently being quizzed over terror offences at a local police station.

  7. British police arrest man in hunt for London bombers

LONDON, Sept 16 (Reuters) – British police arrested an 18-year-old man in the southern port of Dover on Saturday in a “significant” development in the hunt for the people behind a London commuter train bombing that injured 30 people a day earlier.

Prime Minister Theresa May put Britain on the highest security level of “critical” late on Friday, meaning an attack may be imminent, and soldiers and armed police deployed to secure strategic sites and hunt down the perpetrators.

The home-made bomb shot flames through a packed commuter train during the Friday morning rush hour in west London but apparently failed to detonate fully.

    • FOSTER KID ‘IS BUCKET BOMBER’

Parsons Green terror suspect, 18, revealed as ‘refugee taken in by MBE foster couple’ – as neighbours claim ‘problematic’ teen was arrested TWO WEEKS ago

The property belongs to Ronald and Penelope Jones who came out of retirement in response to the migrant crisis

Cops arrested an 18-year-old man at the port of Dover early yesterday as he apparently tried to flee the country.

He was seized at 7.50am after being tracked by facial recognition technology.

The raided home in Surrey’s leafy Sunbury – 11 miles from the scene of the explosion – belongs to Ron and Penny Jones, who received an MBE in 2009 for services to children and families.

Neighbour Carrie Hill, 38, said: “Police told me there was a bomb found in the garden and firearms hidden under the floorboards.
“I was on my way out when I saw about 20 armed police officers surround the house.”
Close friends said the Joneses had a problematic foster child who they claim was arrested two weeks ago over an unrelated incident. It is thought he may be the suspect.

Neighbour Serena Barber, 45, said Ron and Penny Jones were currently looking after two foster boys.

She said: “They were looking after two boys – one who was quiet and the other who was pretty rowdy.”

“I’ve been told they were Syrian – but I haven’t seen them myself.

“One was quite a handful and always in trouble. The other was quiet.”

She added:”Ron and Penny are a really lovely couple – they’ve been here for years.

“Penny’s a wonderful foster mother. She takes everyone, she doesn’t turn anyone away.”

The couple worked for refugee support group Elmbridge CAN which helps run resettlement schemes.
In an interview Penny, 71 told how she and Ron had fostered 268 children and the last eight have been refugees.

Former prison officer Penny said: “We’ve had a real mix – Iraq, Eritrea, Syria, Albania and Afghanistan.”

She added: “One boy, his Mum was imprisoned because of her beliefs.

“He left in October 2014 – he walked until he got onto a boat and managed to get in a lorry travelling through Calais. He was only 15.

“One thing all of them say is that it’s so nice to have someone ask them if they’ve had a good day – because they’ve had bad lives.”

Asked about her favourite fostering memory, Penny added: “We all sat down for Christmas dinner (I had cooked halal chicken to go alongside the turkey) and he thought it was fantastic.

“We put decorations up to celebrate and he was fascinated with them.

“We sat as a family and he was so grateful for the gift of just being together in a place he could call home. He was happy.”

Neighbours said kind-hearted Ronald and Penelope had retired but recently began fostering again because of the plight of young refugees displaced from countries such as Iraq and Syria.

They are understood to have been helping Surrey County Council with its Syrian vulnerable persons relocation scheme.

The council started the scheme after the UK government pledged to take in an extra 20,000 Syrian refugees in response to the migrant crisis.

It has also been reported that residents who were moved out of their homes have been told they can’t go home tonight.

Former neighbour Nikki Nicholass, who lived on Cavendish Road, said the elderly couple – who have six children of their own – had recently taken in displaced refugees and described them as “amazing”.

She told Sun Online: “The house that was raided belongs to an elderly couple who used to foster and were helping social services by homing refugees.”

  8. Robot submarines could soon be used to spy on America’s enemies

More than a decade after airborne drones took flight over battlefields, the world’s biggest defense manufacturers are eyeing a new market below the ocean’s surface.

The Navy recently opened up a competition for unmanned submarines that can navigate autonomously. Chicago-based Boeing has taken an early lead in the fledgling market: The company has developed a 51-foot-long vessel called the Echo Voyager to compete for the contract, and last year it bought a company called Liquid Robotics that focuses on smaller unmanned subs.

Bethesda-based competitor Lockheed Martin is also competing for the contract, a company spokeswoman said Thursday, and it, too, is now ramping up its efforts by investing in another company specializing in the autonomous watercraft.

  9. House goes to court to protect secrecy of records

An effort to fight a FOIA lawsuit for proposals on health care reform wins bipartisan backing.

The House of Representatives is taking legal action to make sure that federal agencies don’t release congressional records to the public through the Freedom of Information Act.

The move, which came Friday evening in a lawsuit demanding access to discussions about health care reform between the Trump administration and Congress, threatens to cut off a mechanism liberal watchdog groups were using to gain insight into closed-door negotiations on a variety of policy issues.

  10. Teen wanted for deportation is accused of California killing

    By PAUL ELIAS
    Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal immigration agents were tracking a teenager who was facing deportation when he fatally shot a popular community volunteer during a robbery in San Francisco, authorities said Friday.

The slaying occurred on Aug. 15, four days after sheriff’s investigators say 18-year-old Erick Garcia-Pineda stole the murder weapon from the personal car of a San Francisco police officer.

Four days after the killing, Garcia-Pineda’s monitoring device was removed from his ankle, triggering an unsuccessful search for him. An immigration judge ordered him to wear the bracelet as a condition of his release from federal custody in April.

  11. Left-Leaning Colleges Face Declining Budgets, Enrollment

Universities known for supporting “social justice warriors” are losing money and students.

A Cornell Law School professor found colleges involved with radical left causes have sustained damages to their academic reputation.

The University of Missouri has seen a 35% enrollment decline since 2015 after its students participated in Black Lives Matter violence.

While Evergreen State College saw a two million dollar budget shortfall after left-wing protests erupted on campus last spring.

  12. Shipping Regulators: N. Korea Skirting U.N. Sanctions

North Korea is reportedly using false flags on its trade ships to evade U.N. trade sanctions.

The Western-Pacific island nation of Fiji said it has already identified at least 20 disguised North Korean vessels.

Previously, a number of North Korean ships using fake flags were also discovered in the waters off New Zealand.

Asian shipping regulators are also investigating the issue as the isolated dictatorship continues to skirt ongoing sanctions on the country’s commodities exports.

The U.N. says it expects the north to earn almost $400 million from seafood exports alone this year.

  13. Lawyers call for repeal of radical Obama-era education policies
By Hans Bader September 15, 2017

On Tuesday, the Federalist Society’s Regulatory Transparency Project released a paper about illegal overreaching by the Obama-era Education and Justice Departments, which resulted in unwise federal policies that persist today.

The paper, written mostly by people with a civil rights background, examines three areas in which the government attempted to micromanage educational institutions by imposing new rules that never went through the legally-prescribed rule-making process and purported to do so based on anti-discrimination statutes passed many years ago.

These rules dealt with three areas: (1) transgender bathroom, locker, and dormitory room access under Title IX, a statute which bans discrimination based on “sex,” not “gender identity”; (2) investigations by colleges and schools of sexual assault and harassment claims, also under Title IX; and (3) school districts that suspend more students of one race than another, or whose discipline policies have an unintentional “disparate impact,” under Title VI, a statute which bans intentional racial discrimination.

  14. CEO of Laureate Education, who paid Bill Clinton $17M for part-time work, steps down
By LU Staff September 16, 2017

Doug Becker, Laureate Education’s founding CEO who recruited former President Bill Clinton as honorary chairman and enmeshed his company with the Clinton Foundation, announced Thursday that he is stepping down, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

Laureate was considered a poster child for the Clinton Foundation’s “pay-to-play” image problems. Laureate donated between $1 to $5 million to Clinton’s family charity in addition to paying him $17.6 million for part-time work as honorary chairman.

Becker headed a separate nonprofit organization, the International Youth Foundation (IYF), which received at least $17 million from the Department of State’s Agency for International Development while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. After Hillary left the State Department in 2013, aid to the IYF plummeted to $6 million in 2014 and dwindled to $3.8 million in 2015.

The IYF has received nearly $2 million in 2017, but those funds were originally allocated in 2012 and 2013, according to USAspending.gov, a government website that tracks federal expenditures.

  15. Poland: Solidarity rally against European Commission’s threat to Polish govt.

Hundreds of members of the trade union ‘Solidarity’ rallied outside of the European Commissions’ offices in Warsaw on Saturday, in protest at the body’s attempted prevention of government reforms.

SOT, Piotr Duda, Solidarity trade union Chairman (Polish): “We can not allow the legitimate occupation of our country, because for the last 27 years we have been a colony for the old Fifteen of the European Union. We were talked out and we are still exploited and we have to finish it.”

SOT, Piotr Duda, Solidarity trade union Chairman (Polish): “We speak loudly in this place, in front of the European Commission office: Mr. Juncker, Mr. Timmermans – our law – our choice. We respect Polish women, as opposed to you, and it is no discrimination only privilege.”

SOT, Piotr Duda, Solidarity trade union Chairman (Polish): “We are here in Warsaw but if we have to we will go to Brussels – because the Solidarity trade union is first and foremost an effective union that starts the issues and ends them.”

    • Canada to speak up for Rohingya Muslims at United Nations: Freeland

TORONTO — Canada’s foreign affairs minister says the government is very concerned about the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and plans to speak up on their behalf.

Chrystia Freeland says both she and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plan to “focus” on the issue at next week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York.

She did not elaborate on the specific actions she or Trudeau plan to take.

Freeland also told a Toronto rally in support of the Rohingya that she also discussed the issue with Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary-General who is currently leading a commission investigating the crisis unfolding in Myanmar.

She says another key focus for Canada is getting the ambassador into the area of heaviest conflict to report first-hand on the situation.

Myanmar’s powerful military is accused of torching the homes of 400,000 Rohingya Muslims, forcing them to flee to neighbouring Bangladesh as refugees. Myanmar’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, has come under harsh international criticism for failing to speak out against the violence, with some arguing she should be stripped of both her Nobel Peace Prize and her honorary Canadian citizenship.

Freeland did not address those concerns, but told the rally that Trudeau expressed his “very strong condemnation” of the treatment of the Rohingya directly to Suu Kyi earlier this week.

Freeland said Trudeau also asked Suu Kyi to “raise her voice” on behalf of the Muslim minority in her country.

“I want you to know that this is an issue that matters to me very, very much,” she told the crowd. “It’s an issue that matters very much to the prime minister.”

Officials speaking on condition of anonymity have said Canada has been reluctant to overtly blame Suu Kyi for the violence against the Rohingya because it believes Myanmar’s military is using it to undermine her global reputation.

Canada believes elements in Myanmar’s powerful military see the current crisis as an opportunity to weaken Suu Kyi’s ambitions to bring democracy to their country.

Officials have said Freeland recognizes that Suu Kyi is in a precarious political position because she does not control the actions of her military, which once ruled her country with impunity and placed her under house arrest before she prevailed and won power in democratic elections.

Freeland did not offer details on the substance of what she or Trudeau plan to do at the UN Assembly, but did say the issue is one that both would be “focusing on.”

Freeland also emphasized the importance of gaining ambassadorial access to Rakhine State, the scene of much of the violence. Officials have previously said that Myanmar has rebuffed several recent requests by Canada and other western countries to send envoys into Rakhine for a first-hand look.

“Our ambassador is seeking access to Rakhine State,” Freeland told the rally. “We would like our ambassador to go there so we can have Canadians seeing first-hand what is happening.”

Another rally in support of the Rohingya is planned in Ottawa for Sunday afternoon.

The 72nd session of the UN General Assembly is slated to get underway on Tuesday.

  17. De-dollarization marches on. For the uninitiated it means the increasingly infrequent use of US dollars in trade between countries. This pie is being nibbled all around its perimeter. Large powerful countries with strong militaries can get away with it. Smaller ones have been crushed for trying. The owners of the next reserve currency will wage war against their usurpers, too. This is the way of it. In the meantime the U.S. is losing its grip. The only way to restore and extend its dollar hegemony may be to play the gold option better and sooner than the BRICS. This would undermine some of their efforts as well as the IMF SDRs. The Trump administration’s recent visit to Fort Knox was the only the second or third visit by an admin official in the last 80 years, or something like that. This visit may portend a dramatic reset in gold a la ’71, a drastic devaluation in the dollar in corrollary, a boost in domestic U.S. manufacturing, and considerable inflation for americans.

    • No.
It may seem that way, but PTSD has to be soaring. Large numbers of walking wounded: they’re impaired; that will affect their behavior in ways that aren’t predictable.

Huge social cost. I just hope they’re being treated.

      • Now factor in all of the rape and sexual assault counseling to see those numbers skyrocket. None of which accounts for the lifelong psychological trauma that rape victims often experience in the form of avoiding (or no longer enjoying) sexual relations, or in the specific case of women, becoming man-haters.

Between PTSD, and sex crimes, Western Civilization will begin to gut itself with medical and treatment expenses alone. The willingness of modern politicians to tolerate this vicious predation whilst turning a blind eye to the principal source (i.e., Muslims) is treason at such a fundamental level as to represent mass murder or crimes against (White) humanity.

  18. Trump administration urges Iraqi Kurds to not hold referendum for independence

The Trump administration urged Kurdish leaders in Iraq to not hold a referendum this month regarding their independence from Iraq, warning that it would distract from defeating the Islamic State.

“The United States does not support the Kurdistan Regional Government’s intention to hold a referendum later this month,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement Friday. “The United States has repeatedly emphasized to the leaders of the Kurdistan Regional Government that the referendum is distracting from efforts to defeat ISIS and stabilize the liberated areas.”

Sanders went on to say that any referendum in “disputed areas is particularly provocative and destabilizing.”

“We therefore call on the Kurdistan Regional Government to call off the referendum and enter into serious and sustained dialogue with Baghdad, which the United States has repeatedly indicated it is prepared to facilitate,” Sanders said.

The parliament of Iraqi Kurdistan voted Friday to move forward with the referendum set for Sept. 25.

The referendum is significant as the U.S. has maintained a friendly relationship with the Kurds as allies fighting terrorism in Iraq and Syria. The Kurds have provided ground troops that have contributed to successes in overthrowing the Islamic State.

Two neighboring countries to Iraq, Turkey and Iran, also oppose the referendum over fears that it could embolden Kurds within their own Kurdish populations to call for independence.

Thousands of Kurds gathered in Cologne to celebrate the 25th International Kurdish Cultural Festival, Saturday, under the motto ‘Freedom for Ocalan, Status for Kurdistan, Freedom to the Middle East.’

Dersim Dadever, Press Spokesperson (German): “Today we are celebrating here in Cologne the 25th International Kurdish Cultural Festival. The motto of this event for this year as well is ‘peace in Kurdistan, freedom for Abdullah Ocalan and democracy in the Middle East.’ With this festival we protest against the wars in the Middle East. We protest against the developments in Turkey in the direction of a dictatorship and we speak clearly in favour of the freedom of Abdullah Ocalan as a key figure not only for a political solution to the Kurdish situation but also as an architect for a democratic Middle East.”

  19. ‘Americanized’ kids riled dad; matricide suspected

Farmington Hills — Nada Huranieh’s death was initially seen as an accidental fall, but investigators soon determined the 35-year-old fitness trainer had been murdered — and that her 16-year-old son was the alleged culprit.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about their investigation into Huranieh’s death, but court records shed some light on her family’s sometimes troubled existence behind the walls of their mansion off a quiet dirt road in southern Oakland County.

Huranieh, 35, died Aug. 21 from injuries suffered in a fall from a second-floor window of the seven-bedroom home on Howard Road in Farmington Hills. Authorities said she was found on her patio by her 14-year-old daughter, who called police to report Huranieh was not breathing.

The death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy, and her son, Muhammad Altantawi, is charged as an adult with second-degree murder. He is being held in Oakland County Children’s Village without bond.

During a pre-exam conference Friday, Judge Marla Parker of 47th District Court scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 17, when she will decide whether Altantawi will be tried in his mother’s death.

The teenager, from all accounts, is a good student without any prior legal trouble. If found guilty of killing his mother, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

“My client has expressed his innocence and said he had nothing to do with his mother’s death and is looking forward to being cleared in the legal process,” said the teen’s attorney, David J. Kramer, who declined further comment.

But court records and people familiar with the family reveal stress inside the home that predated the death, with Muhammad Altantawi being placed “in the middle” of adult issues, including allegations of domestic violence, a parental split and Medicaid fraud charges against his father, a Canton-based physician.

Huranieh and Bassel Altantawi, who wed in Syria in 1999 and had three children, were in the midst of a divorce; both were scheduled to give depositions the week she died.

Huranieh had filed for divorce in March 2016. According to court records, the teen’s father, Bassel Altantawi, now 46, violated orders for supervised visitation and allegedly met several times with his son at a strip mall near the home more than a year ago.

The father also expressed concerns that his children were being “Americanized” by his wife in contrast to their Syrian and Islamic roots, court records indicate.

One of Huranieh’s ex-attorneys, Carolyn Markowitz, said the son expressed anger toward his mother and frequently slipped away to meet his father, who was ordered out of their Farmington Hills home following an incident in which he was accused of throwing his wife down a flight of stairs on Valentine’s Day in 2016.

Altantawi eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of spousal abuse. He was placed on a tether and given conditions that included having no contact with his estranged wife for two years and having only supervised visitation with their children, who were ordered to have counseling.

Muhammad Altantawi and his two sisters, age 14 and 12, were in the sole legal custody of their mother at the time of her death, though the boy’s address is listed as being on Ford Road in Canton, according to his district court criminal file. The address is his father’s urgent care clinic.

Part of the divorce filing in Oakland County Circuit Court is confidential.

Bassel Altantawi could not be reached for comment. His divorce attorney, Timothy McGlinchey, said in a circuit court filing last year that his client “denies violently throwing anyone down stairs.”

In a phone interview, McGlinchey said Bassel Altantawi has been rocked by the events of the past year and a half.

“My client is devastated at what has gone on with his family: the divorce; then the death of the mother of his children; and then his son being charged with the death,” the attorney said.

Bassel Altantawi described the altercation with his wife as “an isolated and very unfortunate incident that he has taken responsibility for and it will not be repeated,” McGlinchey wrote in the 2016 divorce filing.

The estranged couple’s older daughter phoned police to report the Valentine’s Day incident, according to Markowitz, Huranieh’s former attorney.

“Her injuries were serious, she could have died,” she said.

It was unclear if the son was at home during the altercation, but Markowitz said in the following months, it became clear that Muhammad was growing apart from his mother. Several times, he ran away to see his father.

“He always returned home but was more like his father, a traditional Muslim,” Markowitz said. “The girls were happy to go shopping with their mother, have electrolysis. But he was very much like his father, didn’t believe in living the American culture. His father even had him working for him against her in the home, taking photographs of things, like items his mother had bought. Like a spy.

“There were third parties, a religious mentor, who was also trying to influence him or relay his father’s wishes, which was also improper,” she said.

In a July 2016 affidavit filed as part of the divorce case, the imam at the Canton Islamic Center where the family worshiped, said he had known both Huranieh and her husband for more than 10 years, socialized with both and considered them friends.

Imam Mohamad Abdulgani denied attempting to influence anyone, including the children, regarding the divorce. He also said he had never been contacted by Altantawi to act on his behalf with such a request.

Altantawi acknowledged he had contacted his son by cellphone and that he had been picking up the teen at the end of the street “to remain in compliance with the no contact order,” according to a statement filed by McGlinchey in circuit court as part of the divorce case.

McGlinchey declined to discuss allegations made in court records by both parents that the other spouse attempted to turn the son against them.

“What no one knows is they came to an amicable resolution regarding unsupervised custody of the children and (Muhammad) was to live with his father and the girls with their mother,” he said. “And then they would rotate between their parents.

“They reached that resolution the week before her death and it was filed with the court but never signed,” McGlinchey said.

The attorney said he was “100 percent certain” that at the time of Huranieh’s death, her son was living with his mother and sisters.

“That hadn’t changed yet,” he said.

McGlinchey added: “I don’t know why the son’s address would be listed in (court records) as in Canton Township — that has to be an error.”

Muhammed Altantawi was attending International Academy West in White Lake Township, he said.

In a court filing last year, McGlinchey described the teenager as a “mature and articulate 15-year-old who may have his own opinions related to the unfortunate situation between his parents and his preference as it relates to his future living situation.”

“Defendant (Altantawi) understands that this divorce matter is between the parents and that the children should not be involved,” McGlinchey wrote in a May 2016 filing to then-Judge Joan Young of Oakland County Circuit Court. “Defendant believes it is the Plaintiff (Huranieh) who is attempting to involve the children in these adult issues.”

Altantawi, a successful physician, had other problems. In May 2016, he was charged by the Michigan attorney general with fraud at his Canton Urgent Care clinic.

In March, he pleaded guilty to two counts of Medicaid fraud and two counts of health care fraud, which are felonies that can carry up to four years in prison. Altantawi was spared prison time but his physician’s license was suspended and paid $277,953 in restitution, according to the state attorney general’s office.

According to divorce filings, Altantawi — who once had an annual income in excess of $350,000 — found himself unable to work as a physician or meet previous court-ordered support payments for his estranged wife and three children.

He said he was “no longer able to support them in their lavish lifestyle” in Farmington Hills and complained of Huranieh going on shopping trips in Metro Detroit and Chicago and racking up thousands of dollars in credit card charges at upscale clothing stores.

Court records show after the March 2016 divorce filing, Altantawi was ordered to maintain the status quo in the household finances yet failed to pay bills that resulted in shutoffs of utility, cellphone and internet service. Medical and dental appointments were disrupted after insurance was canceled for nonpayment and he failed to pay auto insurance and registration renewals on Huranieh’s Mercedes Benz, according to court records.

According to filings in the couple’s divorce case, both parties allegedly withdrew large sums from their joint bank account: Huranieh nearly $630,000 and Altantawi more than $800,000. Besides the Farmington Hills mansion, valued at around $1 million, and the clinic, there is reportedly $200,000 in property in Syria in Altantawi’s name.

Another pending issue is custody of the children. A petition filed in probate court by Serene Zeni, a family friend and attorney, indicates the police investigation of Huranieh’s death is examining “whether other individuals are involved.”

A Wednesday custody hearing is scheduled before Judge Jennifer S. Callaghan of Oakland County Probate Court.

Huranieh’s friend Nada Kourdi of West Bloomfield said the personal trainer cared first and foremost about her children.

“Her kids were everything to her,” Kourdi said. “She was compassionate, eager and enthusiastic to do better for her kids.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-recruits-afghan-pakistani-shiites-fight-syria-49891267

“Thousands of Shiite Muslims from Afghanistan and Pakistan are being recruited by Iran to fight with President Bashar al-Assad’s forces in Syria, lured by promises of housing, a monthly salary of up to $600 and the possibility of employment in Iran when they return, say counterterrorism officials and analysts.

These fighters, who have received public praise from Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, even have their own brigades, but counterterrorism officials in both countries worry about the mayhem they might cause when they return home to countries already wrestling with a major militant problem.

Amir Toumaj, Iran research analyst at the U.S.-based Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, said the number of fighters is fluid but as many as 6,000 Afghans are fighting for Assad, while the number of Pakistanis, who fight under the banner of the Zainabayoun Brigade, is in the hundreds.

In Afghanistan, stepped-up attacks on minority Shiites claimed by the upstart Islamic State group affiliate known as Islamic State in the Khorasan Province could be payback against Afghan Shiites in Syria fighting under the banner of the Fatimayoun Brigade, Toumaj said. Khorasan is an ancient name for an area that included parts of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia…”

  21. Geert Wilders: “In My Opinion, Islam Is Not a Religion”

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11009/geert-wilders-in-my-opinion-islam-is-not

Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders is deeply concerned about Muslim integration. In our series Islam in the Netherlands he is warning about the “perishing”of our culture. “It is not five to twelve or two to twelve, it is almost morning!” The leader of the second party in the country is pondering about very far-reaching measures.

Geert Wilders (54) is not surprised at the shocking poll results released by daily newspaper De Telegraaf. The fact that only thirteen percent of the Dutch population feel that the problem of integration will solve itself is a writing on the wall, according to him. And that only eleven percent of the Dutch see Islam as an enrichment proves in his opinion that what he has been calling for years. “If I had said that three years ago, I would have had tens of thousands of police reports thrown at me. But people are completely fed up with it. ”

How do you explain the figures?

“Decades ago, a few thousand people from Islamic countries would stay temporarily. But temporarily turned out to be permanently. Those thousands of guest workers became hundreds of thousands. And in Europe millions of people by now. Back then those people were called upon to integrate and assimilate. But Islam, the word says it already, seeks to dominate. Not long ago Professor Koopmans found that as much as seventy percent of Muslims find Islamic rules more important than secular laws. In Europe almost weekly innocent people are slaughtered in name of Allah and Islam. Proudly. We have been declared war and we refuse to defend ourselves.”

“Yemeni security and medical officials say clashes between forces loyal to the country’s internationally recognized president and others backed by the United Arab Emirates have killed at least one and wounded four others, including civilians.

Saturday’s clashes in the southern city of Aden are the latest escalation in a rift between President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the UAE, both key members of a Saudi-led coalition fighting Shiite rebels, known as Houthis, since 2015. The dispute concerns Hadi’s embrace of a local affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood, a pan-Mideast Islamist group that the UAE views as threat. Hadi accuses the UAE of violating his country’s sovereignty.

The Anadolu news agency said Saturday the anti-terror police conducted simultaneous operations at 15 different addresses in Istanbul.

Anadolu said 73 of the detained were foreigners and were handed over to relevant authorities to be deported. There was no information on their nationalities. The other suspect was being questioned.

IS has been blamed for several deadly attacks in Turkey, killing more than 300 people since 2015.

  26. Asylum Seekers Confessing Membership of Terror Groups Continues to Rise (breitbart, Sep 16, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/09/16/asylum-seekers-claiming-terrorists-avoid-deportation-continues-rise/

“Asylum seekers in Saxony are increasingly confessing membership terrorist groups, possibly in hopes this will prevent them from being deported to home countries where they could face execution.

Saxony Minister of Justice Sebastian Gemkow said this week that the number of asylum seekers who boast of being members of terrorist organisations has greatly increased since last year. He says there have been 36 cases of individuals saying they were members of groups like the al-Nusra Front or Islamic State so far this year, MDR reports.

According to Gemkow, investigations have revealed that migrants have spread messages on social media telling other migrants that if they claim to be terrorists they will not be deported: terrorism is a capital crime in many countries, and European Court rulings make it extremely difficult for EU countries to deport or extradite people to countries where they could face the death penalty.

German law states that any claims of membership of a terror group must be investigated by police, which could potentially strain the ability of investigators to examine all of the cases without creating a large backlog.

A similar situation has been ongoing in German administrative courts which have seen thousands of appeals to negative asylum decisions. Last year it was revealed that up to one-third or more of the cases in the administrative courts involved asylum claims.

Asylum seekers have also been admitting to other crimes like murder in order to avoid deportation, according to a report from earlier this year…”

“Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka is resisting EU efforts to increase his country’s migrant quota, claiming that 90 per cent of asylum seekers in Austria end up on welfare benefits and strain the system.

The Austrian Interior Minister once again railed at attempts by the European Union to send more migrants to Austria, saying that the vast majority end up claiming benefits, Kronen Zeitung reports.Sobotka says “Austria has borne the main load from 2014 to 2017. Our system is simply overwhelmed,”

Sobotka says “Austria has borne the main load from 2014 to 2017,” and “Our system is simply overwhelmed”.

He added: “If you look at the asylum seekers, you can see that 90 percent are migrating to the needs-oriented minimum security system,” and said it was still of great importance to maintain border security.

“We had up to 15,000 refugees per day on some days, today it is an average of 30.

“It is important to keep the pressure on those who bring migrants illegally to Europe via the Mediterranean and in other ways.” he added saying that if the European Union fails to keep up the pressure it will be a sign for people smugglers who will double their efforts to smuggle more migrants into Europe.

  28. Hungary Builds a Wall, Cuts Illegal Immigration by Over 99 Per Cent (breitbart, Sep 16, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/09/16/hungary-builds-a-wall-cuts-illegal-immigration-by-over-99-per-cent/

“Hungary has slashed illegal immigration by over 99 per cent after rolling out a series of powerful border fences in response to the European migrant crisis, possibly providing a lesson as to the potential impact of constructing President Trump’s much-discussed southern wall in the U.S.

Speaking on the second anniversary of the government’s move to seal Hungary’s border with Serbia — which is also an external border for the European Union — Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Chief Security Advisor György Bakondi announced that the fences have caused illegal immigration to collapse from 391,000 in 2015, to 18,236 in 2016, to just 1,184 in 2017.

“The system of technical barriers is the key to the success of border security, and without it, it would be impossible to stop the mass arrival of immigrants”, the security chief explained.

Hungary had to respond rapidly to the migrant influx which burst upon Europe after Germany’s Angela Merkel announced there was “no limit” on the number of asylum seekers her own country would accept, so its frontiers are defended by twin fences peppered with watchtowers and patrolled by thousands of newly recruited border guards rather than a solid wall — which would have taken longer to construct.

Nevertheless, as it has been steadily reinforced illegal migration has slowed to a trickle — drawing the ire of open borders activists like billionaire financier George Soros and globalist officials at the European Union and the United Nations.

For example, UN Refugee Agency chief Filippo Grandi visited the border and complained: “When I was standing at the border fence today, I felt the entire system is designed to keep people, many of whom are fleeing war and persecution, out of the country”.

Grandi also called on Hungary to get rid of the border-spanning transit zones it has established, which allow all asylum seekers entering the country to be detained while the validity of their claims are assessed…”

“Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) operatives managed to infiltrate US military command centers and obtain documents allegedly proving collusion between Washington and ISIS terrorists in the region, a top Iranian commander claims.

The claim was made by IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh on Friday during a TV interview.

“We have documents showing the behavior of the Americans in Iraq and Syria. We know what the Americans did there; what they neglected and how they supported Daesh [Islamic State – IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL],” Press TV cited the commander as saying.

If the IRGC receives the green light to release the documents, it would bring more “scandals” for the US, he said.

“A group of 51 migrants, including 17 children, has been found crammed in a truck heading to Berlin, German federal police say. The exhausted migrants were taken for questioning, while the Turkish driver was arrested for alleged human trafficking.

Early Saturday, police said they pulled over a truck with Turkish license plates on federal highway A12 near the town of Muellrose, not far from the Polish border, revealing “a shocking picture,”according to Der Spiegel. 20 men, 14 women, 10 boys and seven girls were squeezed inside the vehicle. 31. ‘Act of war!’ Le Pen says terrorists should be tried in MILITARY COURTS in wake of attacks (express, Sep 16, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/854946/Marine-Le-Pen-France-terror-attack-military-courts-special-courts-Macron

“TERRORISM cases should be heard by special courts involving the military, Marine Le Pen has declared.

The leader of the Front National made the comments when she was asked about what amendments her party is preparing to make in the counter-terrorism bill, designed to replace powers under the current state of emergency.

Speaking in an interview for Le Parisien, Ms Le Pen said: “Unlike Macron, the Republicans do not believe that terrorism is a crime like any other.

“It must become the target of a dedicated fight.

“There should probably be a dedicated jurisdiction.

“Why not the equivalent of the former Cour de sûreté de l’État (State Security Court)? Since terrorism is an act of war.

The State Security Court was a special judicial body which existed from the 60s to the 80s and it included two military officers, with someone of the rank of a General working as one of the three judges.

The aim of the court was to judge crimes against national security, which included terrorism.

The state of emergency has been high in France following the attacks in Paris in November 2015, which killed more than 130 people.

Terrorism cases in France fall under the jurisdiction of the Court of Session, which is a court made up of three judges and nine jurors.

However, when they are hearing terrorism cases, the court sits with just three judges.

Ms Le Pen has used the public anger against French president Emmanuel Macron to try to garner support in France for the Front National in a bid to revitalise her party.

The 49-year-old leader said she is determined to reignite her party, which came second in the presidential elections earlier this year.

French media has reported that Ms Le Pen is being prepared by her entourage for her candidacy for the 2022 elections.

During the campaign trail earlier this year, Ms Le Pen called for foreign terror suspects to be expelled immediately and said it was a “ceaseless and merciless war” against France.

The French president has been in the Caribbean visiting the French overseas territories that have been destroyed by Hurricane Irma.

Me Le Pen said: “I reiterate my request for a commission of inquiry because, unquestionably, there was a failure of the State in this drama that could have been anticipated at the level of the needs of the population.”

Newcastle upon Tyne is a small city in the North-East of England which, in 2017, was acclaimed the best city in the UK in which to raise children (London was the worst). Imagine, then, the shock when the city again became national news on August 9 when a trial at the Crown Court ended in the conviction of 18 people for the sexual grooming of children. Juries “found the men guilty of a catalogue of nearly 100 offences – including rape, human trafficking, conspiracy to incite prostitution and drug supply – between 2011 and 2014.”

Of the 18, one was a white British woman. The rest were males of Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Iraqi, Turkish and Iranian backgrounds, all with Muslim names.

(Daily Caller News Foundation) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hid the results of experimental data that contradicted the Obama administration’s regulatory agenda, according to the publisher of an anti-junk science blog.

JunkScience.com publisher Steve Milloy claims to have uncovered data buried by the EPA “that directly contradicts the Obama EPA’s 2015 decision to tighten the air quality standard for ozone from 75 parts per billion (ppb) to 70 ppb.”

“In a court of law, ozone would be given a mistrial,” Milloy wrote in a blog post Tuesday. “The Trump EPA should revoke the Obama ozone rule and start over.”

Why let the Obama EPA’s own science get in the way of the most expensive EPA rule of all time?

JunkScience.com has obtained via the Freedom of Information Act the results of an Obama EPA-conducted human experiment that directly contradicts the Obama EPA’s 2015 decision to tighten the air quality standard for ozone from 75 parts per billion (ppb) to 70 ppb.

The Obama EPA-conducted experiment, called TROPICOZ, was started in September 2011 and all the data had been collected by March 2014 — well in advance of the October 2015 ozone rule.

In the TROPICOZ experiment, study subjects (aged 18 to 55) were made to exercise (ride a bike) in hot conditions (89-93F) while inhaling air containing an exceedingly high 300 ppb ozone for two hours — an ozone level four times the then-current standard and one that does not occur anywhere in the United States. The study subjects also exercised under the same conditions but in “clean” air.

  34. The Thought Police Strike Again

Headlines every day proclaim the new religion: political correctness, cultural vandalism and censorship — not from Islamic emirates such as Saudi Arabia, but in Western cities right here.

The Writers Union of Canada, for instance, recently apologized for a magazine editorial that defended the right of novelists to create characters from a backgrounds other than their own.

Just think of that: a writer defending the right to use one’s imagination?! What an insult! At least, to “the new Stalinists” it is.

“In my opinion anyone, anywhere, should be encouraged to imagine other peoples, other cultures, other identities,” Hal Niedzviecki, who was the editor of the union’s magazine, Write, defended freedom in an editorial. The Union then announced that Niedzviecki had resigned.

Another journalist also fell victim to this new religion. Jonathan Kay also recently resigned as editor of the magazine The Walrus. Defending Niedzviecki’s right to use his imagination cost Kay his job.

Their unspeakable crime was, it appears, “cultural appropriation” — one of the new “groupthink” expressions that the theologian Paul Griffiths condemned as “illiberal and totalitarian”. Griffiths, too, had to resign from Duke University after criticizing his colleagues for a “diversity program” that “provides foundational training in understanding historical and institutional racism.”

  35. Norway’s Bewildering Election

Those of us who are concerned about Norway’s rapid Islamization took great hope from the 2013 parliamentary election. What mattered was not that it resulted in the formation of a right-wing coalition government. What mattered was that the coalition government, for the first time ever, included the Progress Party (FrP).

From its founding in 1973, FrP was an outlier among Norway’s major parties, of which there many. A quick survey: The Labor Party (Ap), the most powerful party during the postwar era, is the home of the cultural establishment; LO, Norway’s equivalent of America’s federation of trade unions, the AFL-CIO, is essentially a branch of Ap, and NRK, the government-owned broadcast corporation, is often described by critics as the voice of the Labor Party.

The other left-wing parties are the Socialist Left (SV) and Red parties, both of which are basically Communist, and the eco-alarmist Greens (MdG). The “bourgeois,” or supposedly non-socialist, parties include the Conservatives (H), for business people; the Christian People’s Party (KrF), for devout Christians; the Center Party (S), for farmers; and the Liberals (V). This division between socialist and non-socialist is something of a fiction: pretty much all of these parties support high taxes, big government, and the welfare state. Norway is the happy beneficiary of North Sea oil; yet for decades, oil profits have piled up a government fund while Norwegians have paid the highest gasoline prices in the world.

  36. Germany: ‘Antiracist Parade’ brings out thousands in Berlin

German citizens, refugees, migrants and asylum seekers alike turned out on the streets of Berlin for an ‘Antiracist Parade’, Saturday. The march was held to demand the interests of refugees be taken into account a week before the general elections.
