Black Student Assembly: USC Equine Mascot Possibly Racist
The Black Student Assembly (BSA) at USC claims the school’s equine mascot, Traveler, could have ties to racist ideology.
BSA bases this claim on the fact that Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s favorite horse was named Traveller.
According to the Los Angeles Times, BSA co-director Sophia Jackson asked that students not be quiet about the possible racist overtones. Rather, she would have them remember “white supremacy hits close to home.”
The tradition of the “chalk-white Arabian horse” mascot began 56 years ago when Richard Saukko rode one named Traveler around the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Traveler was a former movie horse that had “turned mean,” allowing Saukko to acquire him cheaply. And from that first ride 56-years ago till now, a horse named Traveler has been a USC staple.

BLM Storms New Orleans’ Jackson Monument, Demands Removal
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Activists with Black Lives Matter (BLM) and the organization Take ‘Em Down NOLA stormed the French Quarter’s iconic monument to President Andrew Jackson, demanding it be removed from the public square.
Chanting “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA,” hundreds of left-wing activists marched throughout New Orleans, carrying signs reading “Make American not Racist for the First Time” and “Use your white privilege to fight white supremacy.”

Multiple Migrants Storming Canadian Border Found with Child Pornography
Multiple asylum seekers crossing the border from the United States into the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec have been caught in the possession of child pornography.
The Quebec town of St-Bernard-de-Lacolle, which lies on the border with New York state, has seen an influx of thousands of asylum seekers from the United States in recent weeks.
The Canadian Border Sevices Agency (CBSA) has reportedly caught “four or five” asylum seekers originally from Haiti possessing sexual material involving children, Canadian broadcaster Global News reports.
The issue has sparked CBSA Assistant Director Daniel St-Arnaud to put out a memo to border agents which provides guidance on how to handle cases in which asylum seekers have illegal child pornography in their possession.
The memo states that agents who find such material must report it to both the CBSA Intelligence division, which will then notify the CBSA Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Quebec provincial police.
Between the border crossing points the Canadian federal police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), have jurisdiction.
A spokesman for the Canadian Minister of Public Safety and Emergency commented on the cases saying: “We can confirm that, following an investigation, two people have been charged by the Quebec Direction des Poursuites Criminelles et Pénales with possession and importation of child pornography.”
The cases are not the first time Haitian nationals have been caught with child pornography at the border. In February of this year, a 36-year-old man was arrested by New York authorities after the CBSA found illegal material on his person and deported him back to the United States.
The man was charged with promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and possessing an obscene sexual image of a child.
Conservative MP Michelle Rempel has deeply criticised the Trudeau government’s handling of the migrant situation in Quebec saying: “This is a troubling pattern where we’re seeing people with criminal records or involved in criminal activity come across the border.”
“I think that Justin Trudeau has been irresponsible in his language around how Canada’s asylum system should be accessed,” Rempel added.
Many of the migrants flowing into Canada’s French-speaking province are originally from Haiti and have fled after the Trump administration commented that there no longer exists an emergency in their home country. Over 50,000 migrants fled to the United States after the 2010 earthquake and some expect that many could attempt to seek asylum in Canada.
The numbers have so overwhelmed local governments that the Olympic Stadium in Montreal has been turned into a makeshift asylum home and the Canadian Federal government has sent around 100 soldiers to help build an asylum seeker reception centre on the border.

Joshua Witt, 26, escaped his brush with hairdo-doom with a defensive slice to the hand and three stitches.

Syria’s Assad says Western plots against him foiled but war not yet won
AMMAN (Reuters) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Sunday his country had foiled Western designs to topple him but his army had not yet won the fight to end Syria’s six-year-old insurgency.
In an televised address, Assad said that even though there were signs of victory after six-and-a-half years of civil war, the “battle continues, and where we go later and it becomes possible to talk about victory…that’s a different matter”.
He did not elaborate on that point.

With many of them university-educated and part of the former elite, “their escape has already turned into a brain-drain for Turkey,” said Caner Aver, a researcher at the Center for Turkish Studies and Integration Research in Essen.
Germany is a popular destination because it’s already home to about 3.5 million people with Turkish roots and has been more welcoming of the new diaspora than other Western nations, Aver said.

“Police put up scores of roadblocks across northeast Spain on Sunday in hopes of capturing a fugitive suspect from the 12-member Islamic extremist cell that staged two vehicle attacks and plotted much deadlier carnage using explosives favored by Islamic State militants.
Complicating the manhunt, though, was the fact that police have so far been unable to officially identify who exactly is at large.
While police have identified the 12 members of the cell, three people remain unaccounted for: two believed killed when the house where the plot was being hatched exploded Wednesday, and a suspected fugitive, Catalan police official Josep Lluis Trapero told reporters Sunday.
Trapero declined to confirm that Younes Abouyaaquoub, a 22-year-old Moroccan, was the one at large and the suspected driver of the van that plowed down Barcelona’s Las Ramblas promenade Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring 120. Another attack hours later killed one person and injured others in seaside town of Cambrils.
“We are working in that line,” Trapero said. But he added: “We don’t know where he is.”
Another police official did confirm that three vans tied to the investigation were rented with Abouyaaquoub’s credit card: The one used in the Las Ramblas carnage, another found in the northeastern town of Ripoll, where all the main attack suspects lived, and a third found in Vic, on the road between the two.
Police believe the cell members had planned to fill the vans with explosives and create a massive attack in the Catalan capital. Trapero confirmed that more than 100 tanks of butane gas were found at the Alcanar house that exploded, as well as ingredients of the explosive TATP, which was used by the Islamic State group in attacks in Paris and Brussels.
“Our thesis is that the group had planned one or more attacks with explosives in the city of Barcelona,” he said. That plot was foiled, however, when the house in Alcanar blew up Wednesday night.
The investigation is also focusing on a missing imam, Abdelbaki Es Satty, who police think could have died in the Alcanar explosion. Trapero confirmed the imam was part of the investigation but said police had no solid evidence that he was responsible for radicalizing the young men in the cell.
Es Satty in June abruptly quit working at a mosque in Ripoll and has not been seen since.
His former mosque denounced the deadly attacks and weeping relatives marched into a Ripoll square on Saturday, tearfully denying any knowledge of the radical plans of their sons and brothers. Abouyaaquoub’s mother said his younger brother Hussein has also disappeared, as has the younger brother of one of five radicals shot dead Friday by police during the Cambrils attack.
Everyone so far known in the cell grew up in Ripoll, a town in the Catalan foothills 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Barcelona. Spanish police searched nine homes in Ripoll, including Es Satty’s, and set up roadblocks. French police carried out extra border checks on people coming in from Spain.
Neighbors, family and the mayor of Ripoll said they were shocked by news of the alleged involvement of the young men, whom all described as integrated Spanish and Catalan speakers…”

We can debate all day over whether or not President Trump should have said this or shouldn’t have said that over the past week, but the fact remains that whether or not his Charlottesville comments were politically wise, they were rooted in truth. And it’s a truth that far too many in the media are far too willing to ignore. The media has put up its full-on Fake News flag this week, and not just when it comes to their overblown condemnation of Trump’s remarks. They have done something far more insidious and quiet, which is to deliberately provide shelter for some of the vicious, violent left-wing groups that were present in that park on Saturday.
Because the media narrative has been SO one-sided, we suppose we have to belabor the obvious: What happened in Charlottesville was a sick tragedy and there’s no excuse for it. Nor is there any excuse or sympathy for white supremacists who walk around chanting “blood and soil.”
That said, the evil of these groups does not automatically make the other side innocent. And like it or not, we have something called the First Amendment. It guarantees groups like those that showed up in Charlottesville the right to chant their ugly slogans and march peacefully. It does not – obviously – give them the right to run their car into their ideological enemies.

Spain: MADRID – ‘Not in my Name’ – Spain’s Muslim community denounces Barcelona and Cambrils attacks
Muslims gathered in Puerta del Sol, Madrid, Sunday, in a demonstration dubbed ‘Not in my Name,’ denouncing the terrorist attack that took place in Las Ramblas and Cambrils, which left 14 people killed and scores more injured.
Protester Qaram Fazal denounced the attack as incongruent with the Islamic religion, saying “a religion that does not have kindness is not a religion.”
CNN – Source: Early assessment finds TATP at Barcelona attackers’ bomb factory
According to an initial assessment, traces of the powerful explosive TATP were found at the ruins of the suspected bomb factory used by the Barcelona attack cell, a source briefed on the investigation told CNN.
The source stressed the assessment was preliminary.
TATP is made by adding an acid to a mixture of acetone and hydrogen peroxide solution and can easily result in accidental detonation if mistakes are made in preparation.
It is a high explosive that is much more powerful than that used in the April 2013 Boston bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 250 others.
TATP was used in the November 2015 Paris attacks, the March 2016 Brussels bombings, the May Manchester bombing and a failed bomb attempt by an Islamist extremist at the Gare Centrale in Brussels in June.
Many Islamist terrorists who have successfully made TATP have received some form of terrorist training.
The ISIS media wing, Amaq, has said the Barcelona attackers were “soldiers of the Islamic State,” but stopped short of explicitly claiming responsibility for the attacks or providing evidence for their claims.
The Spanish newspaper El Pais was first to report traces of TATP were found in the ruins of the suspected bomb factory in Alcanar, about 125 miles drive south along the coast from Barcelona.
The blast Wednesday evening at a house in Alcanar came before the Barcelona attack, in which 13 people were killed and 120 were wounded.
The home was was almost destroyed by an unexpected explosion.
One person, a Spanish national, died in the blast, and another was seriously injured — and later arrested.
Six other people were also injured in the explosion, according to a Catalan fire department report, no information was provided as to the identity of the six.
Police said Friday there were other “biological remains” found at the site, but it is unclear whether they belong to a different person than the one killed.
Thwarted by the accidental explosion, and possibly alarmed at the attention it drew, it appears that the surviving members of the cell may have scrambled to mount an alternative plan. The next day at about 5 p.m., a rental van was driven at high speed from Barcelona’s Plaça de Catalunya deep into the teeming crowds on the city’s most famous thoroughfare, Las Ramblas.

Spanish investigators find 120 gas canisters at the property which they say the terrorists wanted to use in the attacks.
Police have identified two bodies found in a house destroyed by a huge blast linked to the Spanish terror attacks.
Investigators believe the Islamist extremist cell which carried out the vehicle rampages in Barcelona and the coastal resort of Cambrils may have accidentally blown up the property while preparing explosives a day earlier.
One of those killed in Wednesday’s blast at the bomb factory in Alcanar could have been former imam, Abdelbaki es Satty, who is said to have been a spiritual ringleader of the group.
It is also possible that a total of three people may have died in the explosion.
Police said they have discovered 120 gas canisters at the property for attacks in Barcelona.
Traces of the explosive TATP, which was used by Islamic State in atrocities in Paris and Brussels, were also found.
TATP is known as the “mother of Satan” and is dangerously unstable.
Officials believe the Spain cell wanted to fill three rental vans with explosives to create a massive atrocity.
But the plans changed after the house where their plot was being hatched blew up.
The possible bomb-maker Mohamed Houli Chemlal was wounded in the explosion and is being detained.
Authorities also said the driver of the van that knocked down pedestrians on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas promenade on Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring more than 120, was the only terrorist in the vehicle.
But there is confusion over who was at the wheel at the time of the rampage.
The driver could have been Younes Abouyaaquoub, who is still thought to be on the run and may have crossed the French border.
Authorities have linked three vans to the 22-year-old of Moroccan origin, whose credit card was used to rent them.
It was first claimed that Moussa Oukabir was driving. But then it was revealed the teenager had been killed along with four other terrorists by officers following a standoff in Cambrils.
A woman died and several other civilians were hurt in the car rampage, along with an officer.
However, police have now told reporters they cannot say for sure who drove the van into crowds at Las Ramblas.
Another van was found in Vic, 44 miles north of Barcelona on the road to Ripoll, where all the main attack suspects lived.
A third was found in Ripoll itself.
Along with Mohamed Houli Chemlal, four other suspects have been arrested.
Abouyaaquoub is on the run and two others are still missing – Abdelbaki es Satty and Youssef Aalla.
Meanwhile, British boy Julian Cadman was among those killed in the Barcelona attack, it has been announced.
Also, Spain’s King and Queen have attended a mass at Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia basilica for the victims.

The “protesters” were clad all in black with black bandanas covering their faces. They claimed to be there to demonstrate against a man facing arraignment inside the courtroom, who they said had ties to “white supremacist” and “right wing” groups.
But what started out as a run-of-the-mill leftist rally featuring the same, old, tired, scripted chants (“Racist, sexist, anti-gay, Neo-Nazis go away!”), ended in a melee after Chicago police showed up to try to contain the demonstration. Protesters had wandered away from public property and blocked an intersection, making notoriously terrible Chicago traffic even worse for innocent bystanders, and causing havoc for local residents.

The pogrom unleashed following the Charlottesville event is now sweeping over the Right/Conservative blogosphere (including us) on an unprecedented scale. Silicon Valley moguls (whose ancestors appear rarely to have been present in America during the Civil War) apparently feel liberated by this protest about the Robert E. Lee statue to abuse their economic power and interdict political opinions they dislike. This is of course is what happens when power is shifted to groups not truly sharing the heritage of the historic American nation.

Federal appointee to race relations board under scrutiny for writings on Islam
A board member with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, an arms-length federal government agency with a mandate to combat racial discrimination, is in jeopardy of losing her post over her writings on the controversial website Jihad Watch.
Christine Douglass-Williams has been writing for the site almost since she was appointed to the foundation’s board in 2012. But multiple sources have told The Canadian Press that the government is reviewing that appointment in the wake of an essay that appeared on the site in May.
The post, entitled, “Christine Williams: My personal warning to Icelanders,” was based on a visit Douglass-Williams paid to the country alongside Jihad Watch founder and U.S. academic Robert Spencer earlier this year.
In it, Douglass-Williams warns that Icelanders are being duped by seemingly moderate Muslims who deceive people into believing they are harmless, and writes that if Muslims truly had nothing to hide, they’d allow police to conduct surveillance in their mosques.
“Islamic supremacists will smile at you, invite you to their gatherings, make you feel loved and welcome, but they do it to deceive you and to overtake you, your land and your freedoms,” she writes.
“They intentionally make you feel guilty for questioning their torturous deeds toward humanity — toward women, Christians, gays, Jews, apostates, infidels and anyone who dares to oppose these deeds.”
With concerns about the post circulating among her fellow board members, it came to the attention of Heritage Minister Melanie Joly, whose department is responsible for the foundation.
Specifically, there are concerns that Douglass-Williams’s views are a hindrance to her work with the foundation and an affront to its legally defined mandate, which is to help eliminate racism and racial discrimination in Canada.
In a statement to The Canadian Press, Douglass-Williams said it is not racist to oppose “the jihadist-Islamist” agenda, and that her writings are entirely in keeping with the work of the board.
“Any efforts currently against me in my private work are an unjust, agenda-driven and cruel attempt to intimidate me for my distaste for all supremacist agendas,” she wrote. She pointed to her recent book, “The Challenges of Modernizing Islam,” as proof that she’s pro-Muslim and pro-human rights.
“My book differentiates between Islamists and human rights-respecting Muslims who thrive to live peaceably and equally among Westerners,” Douglass-Williams wrote.
“They ask for no special favors and advocate for the separation of mosque and state; they condemn Islamism, and stand against human rights abuses committed in the name of their religion, sometimes at great personal risk.”
Pierre-Olivier Herbert, a spokesperson for Joly, said the foundation needs a board that recognizes the importance of diversity and inclusion.
“While we cannot comment on specific cases, with respect to Governor in Council (GIC) appointees, it is expected that appointees’ conduct not be at odds with an organization’s mandate, otherwise the GIC will consider whether action should be taken,” Herbert said.
The foundation was launched in 1997 as part of the settlement the federal government at the time reached with Japanese Canadians over their internment in Canada during the Second World War.
It holds workshops and roundtables across the country on combating racism, and also funds research into Canadian attitudes towards multiculturalism, immigration and other issues.
Board member and foundation spokesman Rubin Friedman said allegations that Douglass-Williams was Islamophobic had been brought to the attention of the board.
“We discussed those allegations and we looked at our mandate, and our policy, and we decided that we don’t make comment on what our part time board members do outside of our organization.”
The board has no control over its membership, Friedman said, and whatever might happen next is up to the government. Douglass-Williams’s current term expires in 2018.
Spencer, who launched Jihad Watch in 2003, has expressed frustration with the view that the perpetrators of the 9/11 terrorist attacks did not represent the true peaceful nature of Islam. He believes it must be made clear that the attacks were rooted in Islam — not to demonize Muslims, but to prove there’s a problem within the religion.
Spencer has gone on to deny the existence of Islamophobia, calling it a term deployed in order to “intimidate non-Muslims away from criticizing or resisting the jihad and Islamic supremacism.”
Douglass-Williams picked up on similar themes in a March 2017 post about a controversial House of Commons motion that called “on the government of Canada to condemn Islamophobia in Canada and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination.”
Douglass-Williams accused the Liberal MP who sponsored the motion of being part of a broader plot when she insisted on including the word Islamophobia in the text, as opposed to other suggested phrases like “anti-Muslim bigotry.”
In a statement, the National Council of Canadian Muslims said anyone with such views has no place on the foundation’s board.
“For a federal appointee to be writing for hateful websites, denying the existence of Islamophobia and calling for the violation of fundamental rights and freedoms of a minority community is contrary to everything the Canada Race Relations Foundation stands for and to the values enshrined in the charter,” Amira Elghawaby said in a statement.
“We are confident that the federal government will take appropriate action with respect to this matter.”

The USS John McCain was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel on Monday morning, the Navy has said.
The collision between the US guided-missile destroyer and merchant vessel Alnic MC was reported at 6.24am Japan Standard Time.
The John McCain was underway east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, on its way to a routine port visit in Singapore.
It is now sailing under its own power and heading to port, the Navy said.
The Alnic MC is an oil tanker that sails under the Liberain flag. It is 600feet long and has a gross tonnage of 30,040.
A news release from the Navy said: ‘Initial reports indicate John S. McCain sustained damage to her port side aft.
This collision comes just two months after the warship USS Fitzgerald crashed into Filipino cargo ship ACX Crystal off the cost of Honshu.

As I am going through the post there is a History Channel show about modern terrorism. Part of what they are telling people is true but they also spent time modifying the facts to make Bush look worse then he was and Obama look much better. They are also stuck in the meme that the Terrorists are following a distorted version of Islam. I suppose that we should be happy that they are doing a show that is about half fact rather then ignoring the problem.
Asylum seekers being housed in Cornwall, ON
Asylum seekers arriving in Canada from the United States are now being housed in Cornwall.
A 300-room temporary shelter is being set up at Cornwall’s NAV Centre to temporarily host asylum seekers after they cross the border.
Cornwall Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy tells CTV News approximately 400 to 500 people will be housed at the facility.
The RCMP announced Thursday almost 7,000 asylum seekers have been intercepted at the Quebec-U.S. border since Canada Day. The vast majority of asylum seekers are Haitians.
The RCMP’s Claude Castonguay says an average of 200 and 250 people a day have been crossing the border.
O’Shaughnessy says negotiations between the Federal Government and NAV Canada to use the NAV Centre to house asylum seekers lasted about a week.
Cornwall’s Mayor says more information will be released today to inform residents about the situation.

“A 22-year-old Belgian woman accused of extremism was arrested in Greece under a Europol arrest warrant, said Greek coast guards and Greek News Agency (ANA) on Saturday. The same source claims that the suspect could be of Moroccan origin.
“A 22-year-old foreigner was arrested because of alleged links with terrorist activity,” a spokesman for the coast guard told French News Agency (AFP) adding that the suspect is detained in the island of Corfu.
The authorities refused to identify the nationality of the suspect but the ANA indicated that she is Belgian of Moroccan origin.
The woman, who previously was in Italy, had taken a ferry from Italy to the Greek port of Igoumenitsa, according to ANA.

Burlington church vandalized with ‘ISIS’ graffiti after suspicious fire

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate a suspicious fire at a church in North Burlington.
Firefighters were called to Trinity Baptist Church on Appleby Line, north of the 407, just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Pictures posted online show that the church was also vandalized. Graffiti spray painted on the side of the 126 year old building spelled out ‘ISIS’ and ‘ISIS will remai[n]’
.When fire crews arrived on the scene, smoke and flames were seen shooting up from the roof of the building.
No one was hurt.
Firefighters were able to save the new part of the church but the old portion of the structure has been destroyed.
The damage estimate has not been released.

A spokesman for Shell, the world’s largest oil trader, declined to comment on the shipment but said Shell International Trading & Shipping “has a history marketing Libyan crudes,” Bloomberg reported.
