Khuram Butt, 27, taught Koran classes at Eton Community School in Ilford, East London, an independent Islamic school for children aged three to 11. It is suspected that he used the classes to expose pupils to his extremist beliefs.
Just two months before the terror attack, the school was inspected by Ofsted and given a glowing report, which even commended how teachers had fulfilled their obligation to spot and halt extremism in pupils.

The move is aimed at helping rescue lenders that are deemed failing or likely to fail, but critics say it could hit confidence and might even hasten withdrawals at the first rumors of a bank being in trouble.

The proposal, which has been in the works since the beginning of this year, comes less than two months after a run on deposits at Banco Popular contributed to the collapse of the Spanish lender.

Minnesota Schools to Let Kindergarteners Choose Pronouns
    65 19 0 48 136 1

Most Kindergarteners are brushing up on their ABCs, learning to share with others and getting into the routine of heading off to school each day — but the state of Minnesota has recently created some additional guidelines for these young tots.

A new “Toolkit” released by the Minnesota department of education focuses on LGBT issues, and advises teachers and schools on how to implement gender identity instruction into the classroom.

Teachers are advised to stop using “boys and girls” and instead implement speech that encourages “transgender and gender nonconforming students” in the classroom. After lengthy debates and over objections by both the public and elected officials, the Minnesota Department of Education voted to implement a new toolkit for LGBT awareness in both public and charter schools in the state.

The toolkit is designed to be used in all classrooms, including Kindergarten. According to the report, “Gender identity does not correlate with sexual orientation,” and includes many ways that teachers should address and incorporate LGBT issues and language into the classroom.

Kindergarteners in the state will soon learn that “any student, including transgender and gender nonconforming students, may be heterosexual, gay, lesbian or bisexual.”

In addition to the need to stop referring to students as “boys” or “girls”, the toolkit recommends teachers allow students to use their preferred gender identity bathroom and that “teachers must call students by whatever name they choose to ensure that bullying does not occur.”

Instead of “boys and girls” teachers are now instructed to refer to all students as “scholars”; students do not need to legally change their names or complete any paperwork or verification, just notify the teacher what they wish to be called.

Teachers that fail to follow the guidelines, that don’t use the correct name or pronoun when identifying the student could be in violation of the state’s Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and face a variety of sanctions.

If you live in Minnesota, your child could, under this rule, decide his or her name is now “Tinkerbell”, “Lightning McQueen” or “Hulk” — and the teacher should comply. In addition to complying with the rules themselves, teachers are advised to correct students who refer to others using gender specific pronouns in the classroom.

While introducing topics that focus on gender and sexual preference in Kindergarten is one of the more controversial aspects of Minnesota’s freshly minted toolkit, older students are impacted as well. Titles like “Prom King” or “Homecoming Queen” are no longer acceptable; toolkit guidelines suggest terms like “prom ambassador” are more appropriate.

According to the Free Beacon, many LGBT groups helped influence the toolkit and pushed for its implementation. Other contributing groups included the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Education Association and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

The toolkit has been met with vocal dissent from a variety of groups. According to the Star Tribune, Minnesota State Rep. Tim Miller, R-Prinsburg feels that no one from his district supports this new addition to the public schools.

Parents and other local groups have objected as well, citing the age of the children involved and the need to focus on actual education.

“Concerns of gender-conforming students and parents are ignored and dismissed” by the toolkit, said John Helmberger, CEO of the Minnesota Family Council. The CEO also indicated that legal challenges could be coming to individual schools and districts.

In addition to the pronoun requirements, the new gender toolkit has rules for locker rooms, bathrooms and even hotel room use. Students are allowed to choose which facility suits them best, while students who feel uncomfortable can use a single use restroom instead. In this scenario, a 16-year-old boy could access the girl’s locker room – and girls who feel uncomfortable disrobing could line up to use a single use restroom instead.

These absurd rules are being implemented in all public and charter Minnesota schools for the new school year, despite vocal objections. Transgender individuals currently make up just .6 percent of the United States population, but are having an increasing impact on our nation’s schools and the way our children are taught.

      • Am I the only one wondering why it is that Communist countries feel so compelled to put on these massive displays of military might?

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I do not recall America doing anything remotely like this, certainly not with a regularity approaching the frequency of Russia, China, and, particularly, impoverished North Korea.

All this comes across like some sort of febrile attempt at self-reassurance or frantic, no-expenses-spared, bolstering of an otherwise fragile national pride. Moreover, why is this spectacle being held in the middle of fricking nowhere?

Equally in question is the Hollywood staging of this production. Notice how if, for instance, a vehicle did not start, that easily could be edited out of the final production—unlike a genuine public parade.

It beggars the question of whether moving all of those troops and materiel into an urban environment might encourage desertions or spark popular resentment to see such an extravagant waste of public resources. There also is the question of whether all those tanks and other tracked vehicles might tear up municipal roadbeds, but that seems to be a matter of minor concern. Of course, the ChiComs have no concept of “public resources”, so the question is moot.

At the very least, consider how just one nuclear detonation at this event could deplete Red China’s strategic assets by at least a solid 10%, not to mention the demoralizing factor. This was a “target-rich-environment” if ever there was one. Especially if some crafty espionage group could have secured a Russian-made device. Insert maniacal, evil laughter >here<.

Of course, equally conspicuous is the curiously similar appearance of the PLA's AWACS planes and other equipment to that originally designed by America. This only brings into question whether Red China's entire military is an entire generation (if not more) behind US capabilities.

A final question, at video time point — 01:40, do any of those soldiers’ guns have a single active round in them? Rest assured that those who march in the North Korean parades don’t have a single bullet to their collective name.

In conclusion, this entire video calls into question why a government with an underclass that lives in abject poverty (curiously enough, just like North Korea) would spend countless millions on this sort of blatant propaganda versus helping its most needy people.

        Go figure.

        I call it VAMPIRISM.

PS: Does anyone find it hilarious that the Communists shamelessly adopt traditional Western military practices like brass band music, parade formations, salutes, right-faces, and all of the other trappings of truly professional armed forces, even as they use such ostensible might to oppress and crush political dissent within their own borders?

I can only hope that all of the troops who were forced to sweat out those many days of practice drills and the final procession itself learned to harbor a newfound hatred for their Mandarin overlords.

  9. Venezuelan opposition promises new tactics after Sunday’s vote

(Recasts with opposition promise of new tactics, adds Delta to stop flying to Caracas)

    By Hugh Bronstein

CARACAS, July 29 (Reuters) – Venezuela’s opposition said it is ready to change tactics in its bid to bring down President Nicolas Maduro after Sunday’s election of a legislative super-body that they say is designed to tighten the socialist’s already strong hold on power.

Anti-Maduro protesters blocked streets on Saturday in a last-ditch effort to derail Sunday’s election of a “constituent assembly” designed to rewrite Venezuela’s constitution.

Maduro says the assembly, which will have the power to dissolve state institutions as well as rewrite the constitution, will bring peace to the convulsed country.

The oil-rich but recession-racked country has been gripped by four months of protests against Maduro that have left more than 110 dead in confrontations with security forces who have responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons.

“Starting on Monday we will have new actions, tactics and strategies to fit the new reality we will be living in,” opposition congressman Freddy Guevara told reporters after urging protesters to man the barricades through Sunday.

  10. As Venezuela Prepares to Vote, Some Fear an End to Democracy

One by one, the markers of Venezuela’s democracy have been pushed aside.

First, the Supreme Court was packed with loyalists of the president, and several opposition lawmakers were blocked from taking their seats. Then, judges overturned laws that the president opposed, and elections for governors around the country were suddenly suspended.

Next, the court ruled in favor of dissolving the legislature entirely, a move that provoked such an outcry in Venezuela and abroad that the decision was soon reversed.

Now, President Nicolás Maduro is pushing a radical plan to consolidate his leftist movement’s grip over the nation: He is creating a political body with the power to rewrite the country’s Constitution and reshuffle — or dismantle — any branch of government seen as disloyal.

The new body, called a constituent assembly, is expected to grant virtually unlimited authority to the country’s leftists.

Venezuelans are going to the polls on Sunday to weigh in on the plan. But they will not have the option of rejecting it, even though some polls show that large majorities oppose the assembly’s creation. Instead, voters will be asked only to pick the assembly’s delegates, choosing from a list of stalwarts of Mr. Maduro’s political movement.

  11. Venezuela’s leader casts unusual vote, decries ‘terrorism’

By MICHAEL WEISSENSTEIN and FABIOLA SANCHEZ

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro asked for global acceptance on Sunday as he cast an unusual pre-dawn vote for an all-powerful constitutional assembly that his opponents fear he’ll use to replace his country’s democracy with a single-party authoritarian system.

Accompanied by close advisers and state media, Maduro voted at 6:05 a.m. local time, far earlier and less publicly than in previous elections. The run-up to the vote has been marked by months of clashes between protesters and the government, including the fatal shooting of a 61-year-old nurse by men accused of being pro-government paramilitaries during a protest at a church a few hundred feet from the school where Maduro voted.

  12. U.S. ‘sweetheart’ of Venezuela sees worrying signs of authoritarianism

CARACAS (Reuters) – Dubbed the “sweetheart” of Venezuela’s socialist revolution more than a decade ago by former President Hugo Chavez, American lawyer Eva Golinger accompanied him to eat lunch with Bashar al-Assad, dine with Muammar Gaddafi and drink cocktails with Vladimir Putin.

She was showered by impromptu kisses from supporters when in Venezuela but reviled and spat at by critics, who branded her a naive foreigner supporting a corrupt and repressive government – often on Western TV news shows.

In recent months, however, Golinger has increasingly criticized the policies of Chavez’s successor, Nicolas Maduro, who she says has trampled basic rights and let corruption run rampant.

  13. Venezuela Leader: Will Use New Assembly to Go After Foes
President Nicolas Maduro vows he will go after his political foes with the virtually unlimited powers of a constitutional assembly being elected Sunday, while Venezuela’s opposition is making a last-ditch effort to flood streets across the country.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — President Nicolas Maduro pledged Saturday evening to go after his political foes with the virtually unlimited powers of a constitutional assembly being elected Sunday, while Venezuela’s opposition made a last-ditch effort to flood streets across the country in defiance of hundreds of thousands of soldiers and police.

In an address on state-run television, Maduro made clear he wants the assembly to strip opposition legislators of their constitutional immunity from prosecution and jail at least one.

“This little Hitler has his cell guaranteed!” Maduro shouted, using his frequent nickname for Freddy Guevara, a hard-line opposition leader and one the highest-profile organizers of four months of protests against the government.

The opposition is boycotting Sunday’s vote, contending the election has been structured to ensure Maduro’s ruling socialist party continues to dominate. So all 5,500 candidates for the 545 seats in the constituent assembly are government supporters.

  14. RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The government announced yesterday (July 28th) that the implementation of the National Security Plan in Rio de Janeiro will employ 8,500 members of the Armed Forces, 620 members of the National Security Force and 1,120 of the Federal Highway Police, in an effort to improve security.

According to the commander of the operation, General of the 1st Army Division, Mauro Sinott, the use of the Armed Forces can be deployed at any time and there will be no routine, neither schedules nor locations.

This comes a day after Defense Minister Raul Jungmann described the federal efforts as ‘focusing on three pillars: integration, intelligence and surprise’, but also saying there will be no ostensible presence of the Armed Forces occupying the streets, according to a government news source.

  16. Iran rules out halt to missile tests as tension with US rises

Tehran (AFP) – A defiant Iran vowed on Saturday to press ahead with its missile programme and condemned new US sanctions, as tensions rise after the West hardened its tone against the Islamic republic.

In the latest incident, Tehran and Washington accused each other’s naval forces of provocative manoeuvres in the Gulf that culminated in a US helicopter firing warning flares.

The US Navy said it had reacted to unresponsive vessels belonging to the Revolutionary Guards closing in on American ships at high speed, a charge denied by Iran which described the American move as unprovoked.

“At 4 pm (1130 GMT) on Friday, the supercarrier USS Nimitz and its accompanying warship, while being monitored by the Guards’ frigates, flew a helicopter near the Resalat oil and gas platform and approached the force’s ships,” the Iranian paramilitary force said.

  17. It appears Wasserman Schultz planned to pay suspect even while he lived in Pakistan
By LU Staff July 30, 2017

Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz seemingly planned to pay cyber-probe suspect and IT aide Imran Awan even while he was living in Pakistan, if the FBI hadn’t stopped him from leaving the U.S. Monday. Public statements and congressional payroll records suggest she also appears to have known that his wife, a fellow IT staffer, left the country for good months ago — while she was also a criminal suspect.

In all, six months of actions reveal a decision to continue paying a man who seemingly could not have been providing services to her, and who a mountain of evidence suggests was a liability. The man long had access to all of Wasserman Schultz’s computer files, work emails and personal emails, and he was recently accused by a relative in court documents of wiretapping and extortion.

Records also raise questions about whether the Florida Democrat permitted Awan to continue to access computers after House-wide authorities banned him from the network Feb. 2. Not only did she keep him on staff after the ban, but she also did not have any other IT person to perform necessary work that presumably would have arisen during a months-long period, according to payroll records.

  18. How lucky can you get! Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s brother will be handling the Awan case
By Thomas Madison July 29, 2017

Luck be a Wasserman tonight. That’s Steven Wasserman, assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, and word has it that he will handle the case against computer guru Imran Awan, who was arrested Tuesday on bank-fraud charges at Dulles International Airport.

Awan was employed as a consultant by several congressional Democrats, only of which continued paying him after he was accused of stealing computers and data systems in February.

That Congress member’s name? Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.). It’s no coincidence she shares a surname with Steven Wasserman. The two are sister and brother.

  19. NYT turns Wasserman Schultz FBI boondoggle into conspiracy funhouse, ignores facts

There has been a good deal of noise — though perhaps not enough — surrounding a recently fired IT aide to Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz , Imran Awan, and his family’s potential financial schemes. While certain outlets are working out the facts of the case, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, and Snopes seem more concerned with casting doubt by bringing up speculations and misinformation about the story from unknown blog sites and YouTubers.

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group reporter Luke Rosiak, who has covered this story extensively since it first appeared in February, broke the news Sunday that “FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.”

The Times and BuzzFeed fail to mention this and many other key facts in recent articles, and Snopes obfuscates the story by rating a claim from a no-name blog as false, requiring the reader to dig through the fact check to find the truth.

“We will not obey, be silenced, be afraid. We will win through resistance,” they chanted.

  28. FBI Study Is Telling About Policing in a Post-Ferguson America
The lie of Ferguson spread across America like a deadly virus and the police are now badly in need of a cure.

Ron Hosko, President, Law Enforcement Action Network

A frightening new FBI study offers a chilling view of police in retreat in a post-Ferguson world where politicians and media are seen as driving a destructive anti-cop narrative.

The FBI “Assailant Study” examined the forces behind the violent killings of more than 60 law enforcement officers in 2016, killings that reflected a 56 percent spike over police murders in 2015.

Some of the results were predictable: 86 percent of the 50 studied assailants had criminal histories, 18 percent had diagnosed mental health issues, 60 percent had histories of drug use, all of the killers were male and a substantial portion of the offenders felt they were going to lose their freedom by going back to prison. Then came the real news.

More than a quarter of assailants, twenty-eight percent or (14/50), expressed a desire to kill law officers prior to carrying out their deadly attacks. Their main reason: attacking police officers was their way to “get justice” for those who they believed were unjustly killed by law enforcement. Some tipped off friends or family about their intent to kill police. And, unsurprisingly, some of the assailants said they were influenced by the poisonous Black Lives Matter movement.

The FBI study also collected views of police officials. Nearly all of those contacted believed national political leaders publically stood against them and that the words and deeds of politicians emboldened criminals by signifying that disrespect of law enforcement was acceptable in the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri shooting of Michael Brown. Police officials also laid blame on news outlets and social media that exposed viewers to a steady narrative suggesting police wrong-doing and misconduct.

  29. The Islamization of History

The debate over whether Islam has been hijacked by fundamentalists — or whether the religion itself preaches the kind of hatred that leads to terrorism — has been raging since the 9/11/2001 attacks on the United States. Although this issue has not been resolved, one thing is clear: in the Muslim world, the demonization of Jews and Christians is commonplace.

Take Turkey, for example, where anti-Semitism has been exhibited publicly for decades by prominent members of government, the religious establishment and the media. In June this year, the head of the government’s Religious Affairs Directorate — the “Diyanet” — joined the chorus.

In a speech he delivered in Gaziantep — a transcript of which was posted on the Diyanet’s official Twitter account — Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez announced that Islam was brought to the world by Allah to correct the “distortions” of Judaism and Christianity. At the center of Judaism, he said, was “material, money and wealth.” Christianity, he asserted, took the opposite, albeit equally “wrong,” interpretation of the divine, as it “came up with an understanding that denigrated the world and deemed property and wealth almost forbidden [haram].”

  30. Russia Woos the World with New Plan on Syria

Caught between the hope of securing a lasting foothold in the Middle East and the fear of inheriting an impossible situation, Russia is trying to re-gauge its Syrian policy with possible support from the Trump administration in Washington.

The key feature of Russia’s evolving new strategy is an attempt at changing the narrative on Syria from one depicting a civil war to one presented as a humanitarian emergency that deserves massive international aid.

Western analysts say the new narrative has the merit of pushing aside thorny issues such as the future of President Bashar al-Assad and power-sharing in a future government.

  31. President Putin asks 755 US diplomats to leave Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that 755 US diplomats must leave his country, after Moscow announced it would expel American staff in retaliation for tough new sanctions from Washington.

The Russian foreign ministry had earlier demanded the US cut its diplomatic presence in Russia by September to 455 — the same number Moscow has in the US.

“More than a thousand people were working and are still working” at the US embassy and consulates, Putin said in an interview with Rossia-24 television. “755 people must stop their activities in Russia.”

The Russian President also said there would be no improvement in ties with the US anytime soon.

Putin: 755 US diplomats to leave Russia

755 American diplomats will have to leave Russia as a result of Washington’s own policies, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said in an exclusive interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
“The American side has made a move which, it is important to note, hasn’t been provoked by anything, to worsen Russian-US relations. [It includes] unlawful restrictions, attempts to influence other states of the world, including our allies, who are interested in developing and keeping relations with Russia,” Putin told channel host, Vladimir Solovyov, Sunday.

“We’ve been waiting for quite a long time that maybe something would change for the better, we had hopes that the situation would change. But it looks like, it’s not going to change in the near future… I decided that it is time for us to show that we will not leave anything unanswered,” the Russian president added.
