  1. IsraellyCool: Shot In The Back For Guarding A Mosque

Israeli police have released a video showing the moments just as the two Israeli Druze policemen are shot just outside the Temple Mount. The most horrifying aspect is that the two policemen were taken completely by surprise because they are facing AWAY FROM THE MOSQUE! They are supposed to be guarding the Temple Mount compound (against what I don’t know). Certainly not against hordes of armed Jews “storming” it!

The murdering terrorists run down from the so-called “Third Holiest Site in Islam” to murder and run back there in a, thankfully futile, attempt to escape justice.

Also remember the terrorists, in this case, do not come from anywhere that can be considered “occupied”. They’re from the Israeli Arab village of Um Al Fahm in northern Israel.

These two brave men were murdered in an act of Islamic terrorism for defending an Islamic holy site. That is what glorifies Allah apparently and furthers the cause of relentless Jihad.

  2. Video: How Al Jazeera Inspires Terrorists

The Qatari-funded news network al Jazeera has inspired terrorists world wide, and continues to promote an extremist ideology to viewers, more than 80 percent of whom expressed support for ISIS, according to a new video issued by the United Arab Emirates, one of several Arab countries currently boycotting Qatar over its continued financial support for terror groups.

The UAE and other major Arab nations such as Saudi Arabia have ceased all ties with Qatar until the country fulfills a list of demands that includes cutting ties to terror groups and shutting down al Jazeera, which these nations say is promoting Islamic radicalism across the region and elsewhere.

“Al Jazeera Supports Terrorism,” declares the latest video, which is being publicized by the UAE’s foreign ministry.

Al Jazeera has long faced accusations that it promotes terrorism and distorts regional news events, such as the conflict with Israel. Al Jazeera has been caught staging deaths in Egypt and elsewhere and trying to pass off the false scenes as news.

Former al Jazeera employees are currently suing the network over its support for the Muslim Brotherhood and allegedly misleading employees about the network’s extremist ties.

  3. Chinese, Russian media lock arms to challenge Western press

…forum participants recognized the media’s role in facilitating better friendship between the Chinese and Russian people, as well as rebalancing global opinion….

Instead of focusing on colorless subjects such as arms sales and military affairs, journalists in both countries should pen vibrant stories about a newfound friendship between their young people, mutually beneficial aspects of Russia’s Eurasian Economic Union and China’s One Belt One Road, and Chinese-Russian cultural affinity.

Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Global Times… said he believed Chinese and Russian media must work in tandem to suppress “nonconforming” voices in both countries that raise doubts about the alliance’s future, which he characterized as a “thorn” that must be “plucked out”.

Hu is not alone in calling for a confrontational stance against opposing perspectives. His Russian counterpart, RT’s and Sputnik’s editor-in-chief and propagandist extraordinaire Margarita Simonyan, berated the “fake news” produced by the “truth-twisting” Western media and called for deeper cooperation between Chinese and Russian media to challenge the dominant narrative. Simonyan also hopes Russian TV channels can gain wider access to the Chinese market.

Many forum participants perceive Western mainstream media as an adversary that frequently attempts to smear China and Russia. Chinese and Russian media plan to seize the opportunity provided by the decline of the Western mainstream press and take control of a greater share of the global public forum. With growing public interest in alternative media, state-owned Chinese and Russian outlets are seeking to break Western mainstream media’s hold on global opinion through resource sharing and joint program promotion.

    • The scary thing is that even though they slant everything to make Russia look good and the US look bad they are more reliable then the Propaganda Media.

      • This also fits with your theory of China and Russia sacrificing North Korea to make the US look like aggressive conquers.

    • We all know that O hated Israel almost as much as he hated the US and we all know that the swamp has moved from support for Israel to support for the Arabs so the swamp critters are going to do their best to insure that Israel doesn’t get much aid from the US. What we have to do is see that enough politicians stand with Israel to force the swamp to support her.

      • Agreed. But these politicians have yo learn that there will be consequences for siding with the Muslims and the left that will mean their careers are kaput.

“Opposition parties in Pakistan on Monday called on the Supreme Court to remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office after an investigation found that he and his family possess wealth exceeding their known sources of income.

The investigation is linked to the mass leak of documents from a Panama-based law firm in 2016, which revealed that Sharif and his family have offshore accounts.

Naeem Bukhari, a lawyer for opposition leader Imran Khan, submitted the request to the court. The court has the constitutional power to disqualify someone from serving as prime minister, and is expected to rule in the coming weeks.

The Sharifs have denied any wrongdoing. Their attorney, Khawaja Haris, argued Monday that the probe was flawed.

The court will resume hearing the case Tuesday.”

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said ahead of Monday’s meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers that the 16 will face travel bans and asset freezes.

Johnson said “that shows the resolve of the UK and the rest of friends in Europe” in countering chemical attacks in Syria.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/detained-human-rights-activists-face-charges-turkey-48675772

“Ten human rights activists are appearing before a court in Istanbul to face possible charges.

The activists, including Amnesty International’s Turkey director Idil Eser, were detained earlier this month in a police raid on a hotel where they were attending a workshop on digital security. They were being questioned by court officials on Monday.

Amnesty said the group was being investigated for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

Turkey has launched a massive crackdown since last year’s failed coup, arresting some 50,000 people and dismissing more than 100,000 from government jobs. The crackdown initially focused on people with suspected ties to the alleged coup plotters, but has been extended to include other government opponents.

Last month Amnesty’s Turkey chair, Taner Kilic, was arrested on terror-related charges.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/fierce-fighting-islamic-state-held-syrian-city-48675778

“U.S.-backed Syrian fighters clashed Monday with Islamic State militants in the heart of Raqqa, the extremists’ self-styled capital, as scores of civilians fled areas controlled by the group.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, aided by the U.S.-led coalition, launched their offensive to capture the city on June 6, and have since taken several areas. The Kurdish-led group has been one of the most effective forces in fighting IS in Syria.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Monday’s fighting is concentrated in the southwestern neighborhood of Yarmouk as well as a central area close to the Old City.

The SDF says intense fighting is underway in central Raqqa, adding that its fighters have taken positions near a centuries-old mosque known as the Old Mosque.

The SDF said 11 IS fighters have been killed in the clashes since Sunday. The IS-linked Aamaq news agency said 14 SDF fighters were killed in the fighting in Raqqa on Sunday alone.

The intensification of fighting comes a week after Iraqi forces declared victory against IS in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the largest the extremists have held. The loss of Raqqa would deal a major blow to IS, but the group still holds wide areas of the eastern province of Deir el-Zour, bordering Iraq.

The Kurdish-run Hawar news agency says some 180 civilians were able to flee areas controlled by IS, while the Observatory put the number in the hundreds.”

A military statement said the attack occurred Monday near the town of Yusekova, in the mainly Kurdish province of Hakkari.

The statement said the soldiers were quickly evacuated and hospitalized. Four of them were in serious condition.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, has waged a three-decade long insurgency in southeast Turkey. Tens of thousands were killed in the conflict.

Violence flared again in 2015 after the collapse of a two-year peace process.

The group is considered a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.”

  11. Afghan forces take district from Taliban; 3 officers killed (abcnews, Jul 17, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/afghan-official-key-southern-district-retaken-taliban-48675732

“Afghan forces have retaken a key southern district from the Taliban while in a western province, insurgents on Monday snatched three officers from their car, including a woman, and killed them, officials said.

The country’s security forces drove the Taliban out of Naway district in southern Helmand province from where they had been threatening the provincial capital of Lashkar Gah, said Defense Ministry spokesman, Daulat Waziri.

The battle to recapture the district had been fierce, with more than 50 Taliban fighters killed and five security forces wounded, he said. Naway is located just 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Lashkar Gah, and had been a staging arena for militant attacks on the city.

Government troops also captured a large cache of ammunitions and guns. The Taliban did not immediately comment on reports of the district’s fall. U.S. and NATO troops are in Helmand to assist Afghan security forces when needed.

Separately, in western Herat province on the border with Iran, three border police officers were snatched from their vehicle and killed by the Taliban, said Jelani Farhad, the provincial governor’s spokesman. A female officer was among the dead.

The officers were driving to their office in the district of Kushk in Herat province when they were ambushed by Taliban, dragged from their vehicle and shot, said Farhad.”

“German authorities say that a crowd of youths threw bottles at police during a weekend festival in a town near Stuttgart. They also are reporting four cases of women being sexually harassed, and three Afghan asylum seekers are suspects in one case.

Police said Monday that many of the youths had been drinking.

The incidents in Schorndorf on Friday and Saturday evenings three cases of sexual harassment on Friday, in one of which an Iraqi is suspected, and a further case on Saturday. In the latter case, the three Afghans allegedly groped a 17-year-old girl.

Later Saturday, police say about 1,000 youths — many with immigrant roots — gathered in a town park. Some of them threw bottles at police and two police vehicles were sprayed with graffiti.”

    • Deutsche Welle -Rioting breaks out at festival in southern German town

Police in the southern German town of Schorndorf have increased their presence after violence at a public festival. At least two cases of sexual harassment were reported.

Authorities in the town of Schorndorf in the German state of Baden-Württemberg have called in more police to supervise a festival following riots and at least two cases of women being sexually harrassed over the weekend.

Guests and police were attacked with bottles thrown from a crowd of some 1,000 young people during the night to Sunday, police said. They said groups of 30 to 60 rioters then left the castle park where the festival was taking place and continued to make trouble in the center of the town.

A police spokesman said on Monday that the violence against officers was “horrifying,” adding that the aggression had taken on a new quality. He said the excessive consumption of alcohol had played a large role in the violence.

Police said a number of the young people present were of a migrant background.

      Sexual attacks

Two young women, one aged 25 and the other 17, were also sexually harrassed at the festival, according to police. A 20-year-old Iraqi man was being questioned in connection with the first case, while three Afghan asylum seekers aged from 18 to 20 were detained over the second.

The mayor of Schorndorf, Matthias Klopfer, expressed his sympathy with the victims of the harrassment, saying such attacks were “not trivial offenses.”

Police have called on anyone else who was the victim of similar attacks to come forward.

The issue of sexual harrassment has become increasingly sensitive in Germany in the wake of mass attacks on women in the western city of Cologne and other cities on New Year’s Eve 2015/2016.

The festival in Schorndorf, which began on Friday, is due to end on Tuesday.

  13. At home, we couldn’t get by’: more Venezuelans flee as crisis deepens

There are no luxuries in the four-room house in southern Bogotá, where 12 recently arrived Venezuelans huddle on thin mattresses under even thinner blankets to ward off the Andean mountain chill. They have no hot water, and what few furnishings they have were salvaged from a nearby dump.

They work 12-hour shifts at car washes or kitchens, earning between $6.50 and $13 a day. Because most do not have work permits, they are under constant threat of deportation.

But life here is better than what they left back home in Venezuela’s Zulia state, said Paola González, 21, who arrived in Bogotá in mid-June. “At least now a day of work allows us enough to eat and even send some money back home,” she says. “In Venezuela, we couldn’t get by.”

As Venezuela falls further into a humanitarian disaster of economic collapse and political repression, more of its citizens are fleeing a country which once served as a haven for economic migrants and political refugees from around the world.

  14. ‘THERE WILL BE A RIDICULOUS HOLY WAR’ Time-capsule letter found after 22 years makes eerily accurate predictions about the future

Greg Wilkinson envisioned global conflicts and the growth of a major country in 1995

A TIME-CAPSULE letter uncovered 22 years after it was written makes eerily accurate predictions about the future – warning about extremist Islam and the growth of China.

Greg Wilkinson’s incredible vision of life in years to come was found by a tradesman Sasha Ilic hidden in the bathroom wall of his former property in Sydney, Australia.

Greg Wilkinson wrote a number of eerily accurate predictions about the future in 1995

The letter, accompanied by a picture of Greg and his wife Roslyn Green on their wedding day, was penned on Easter Sunday April 15, 1995 when he was renovating the home in the Rozelle district.

Chillingly, Greg accurately predicted conflict involving warped forms of Islam before the 911 attacks and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He wrote: “Islam will become the next ideological problem, sparking an equal and opposite reaction plunging large parts of the globe into a ridiculous ‘Holy War’.”

This battle could end when “both sides realise that if this is what their God wants, then there probably isn’t one after all”, Greg added.

China would become a “world economic superpower” and “Australia could become their target”, he also warned.

He encouraged fellow Aussies to learn “Chinese language and culture”, and increase immigration from the county.

Richard: In 1995 the signs were there telling what both predictions, Islam had been moving ever since 79 and Bill Clinton as selling and giving China everything they wanted including US cutting edge military technology.

      • I started seeing it in 79 but the full picture didn’t form until we stopped short of full victory in Gulf war l, I understand that Schwarzkopf was livid when he was rodered to stop before he took Baghdad and captured Saddam. Saddam then went on to sick al Qaeda on us and try to arrange for the assassination of George I after he left office. Both actions were acts of war that the left ignores or belittles.

  15. U.S. missile defense plans to zap North Korean threats

North Korea’s rapid march to develop a nuclear-armed ballistic missile capable of striking the United States has spurred the U.S. military and Congress to ramp up efforts to counter the threat.

The U.S. technological race is happening on the ground, at sea, in the air and in space. But military planners say the greatest benefit of the massive missile defense effort is to deter North Korea from contemplating a strike.

“Missile defense buys you time and opens windows,” said Todd Harrison, director of the Aerospace Security Project at the Center for Security and International Studies. “The way you protect yourself from a missile attack is through deterrence. You show your adversary that you can hold them off and strike back at them.”

North Korea’s latest missile launch on July 4 was its first intercontinental ballistic missile. The Hwasong-14 had a maximum range of about 4,163 miles, meaning it could hit targets in Alaska but not the contiguous U.S. mainland or the larger islands of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean.

Surveillance of the missile left unclear whether it successfully re-entered the earth’s atmosphere, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

North Korea missile may not have re-entered atmosphere, report says

North Korea has not been able to fully develop an intercontinental ballistic missile, and it’s unknown whether last week’s launch successfully re-entered the atmosphere, the Yonhap news agency in South Korea reported Tuesday.

The missile launched July 4 had the distance to reach the U.S. mainland — and marked the latest escalation of the North’s nuclear program.

North Korea said it developed an ICBM that could ferry a large nuclear warhead, but it may have been an unsubstantiated boast, Rep. Yi Wan-young of the Liberty Korea Party said after a meeting with officials from the National Intelligence Service, according to Yonhap.

Yi also said North Korea is capable of conducting a nuclear test at its Punggye-Ri site at any time, but there was no signs of an immediate detonation, the news agency reported.

    Comment Share Tweet Stumble Email

Ball State University sits in Muncie, Indiana, at the heart the “Rust Belt,” so educators there have the right to be pessimistic about the drift of the U.S. economy. But a report by the school’s Center for Business and Economic Research goes even further.

“We found a toxic brew,” said CBER Director Michael Hicks. “Automation is likely to replace half of all low-skilled jobs, and roughly one in four of all American jobs are at risk from foreign competition in coming years.”

This is happening right on Hicks’s doorstep. While the nation’s most vulnerable area is the Aleutian Islands, some of the hardest hit places are likely to be Midwestern counties only 15 minutes from his office.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/tech-may-replace-half-all-low-skilled-jobs-in-the-u-s/

    • You can thank Unions and minimum wage laws for the rapid shift to automation, the businesses exist to make money for their owners, not to provide jobs. When the cost of using humans grows to the point that they can’t make a profit they either close their doors, move overseas or shift to automation. Once again socialists destroys the economy.

FYI two thirds of the cost of making anything or providing any service is wages and benefits.

  18. South Korea Proposes Military Talks with Pyongyang Later This Week

South Korean officials propose military talks with North Korea for the first time since 2015.

Seoul’s defense minister has requested talks with Pyongyang later this week, and is asking the North to stop all hostile activities in the area.

The meeting would be held in a North Korean building where previous talks have taken place.

North Korea has launched a number of ballistic missile tests since the start of 2017.

Officials hope North Korea accepts their request.

The proposal comes around one week after the president of South Korea said talks with the North are more important than ever in order to halt provocations.

By LU Staff July 16, 2017

House Democrats professing moral outrage over the hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) have remained apparently indifferent to the likely penetration of their congressional computer systems, declining to distance themselves from five Pakistani House server administrators who are the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation.

House authorities banned the five administrators from the congressional information technology (IT) network in February as part of a Capitol Police criminal investigation in what Politico described as “serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network.”

Imran, Abid and Jamal Awan, Hina Alvi, Natalia Sova and Rao Abbas set up the email accounts and computer systems for dozens of members of Congress and their staffs, and they could read all emails and files on those systems.

  21. ACLU attacks election integrity

If you don’t think the Left is terrified by the prospect of clean voter rolls, you might not have heard about the latest ploy by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The ACLU has sued President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, charging them with violating federal “transparency” laws.

The suit is a bald attempt to halt the panel’s mission, which is to examine the prevalence of vote fraud in America and to recommend ways to secure the election process.

Given the media-fed hysteria over Russia’s alleged tampering with last November’s election, you’d think progressives would welcome a thorough investigation. They claim loudly that vote fraud is just a myth, and that voter “suppression” is widespread, but they don’t want anyone actually investigating voter rolls and election records. Why not?

  22. EXCLUSIVE: Christian Women Up Against ISIS

Stories about Christians in the Middle East are often about the latest barbaric persecution by radical Islamists — in an almost desensitizing, routine narrative.

Meet one group of Christian women in Syria fighting back. The Bethnahrin Women’s Protection Forces (HSNB) are part of over 2,000 Christian fighters taking on Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL).

As partners of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, they have been among America’s most reliable partners on the ground since their formation in mid-2015.

Similar to the better-known Kurdish forces, they are against both Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the so-called moderate Syrian opposition.

Nisha Gewriye, commander of the women’s units, has graciously agreed to present an exclusive inside look at the women’s fighting force for Clarion Project’s readership:

A Syrian refugee in Canada put his wife in the hospital after beating her for a half hour with a hockey stick.

Smiling, Mohamad Rafia entered the court for the sentencing and addressed the judge, saying through an interpreter that he didn’t know it was a crime in Canada to beat one’s wife .

“He was not aware of the law and he was coming from a background where the laws are completely different,” said the interpreter. Furthermore, speaking for Rafia, the interpreter said, “Officials didn’t inform him of the differences in the law in Canada and that more should have been done to educate him. Why didn’t they explain the law?”

Canadian media were shocked by his words, as well as the statements of his wife, who defended her husband, saying that such an attack is culturally acceptable in the country from which they came.

Rafia was pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats. He was sentenced to eight days in jail and one year of probation.

  25. Romania court rules Turkish woman must stay under arrest (abcnews, Jul 17, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/romania-court-rules-turkish-woman-stay-arrest-48680853

“A Romanian court has ruled that a Turkish woman wanted in Turkey on alleged links to Kurdish militants must remain in custody until her extradition hearing.

Nalan Oral, who has political refugee status in Belgium, was detained by Romanian border guards on July 8. Her lawyer Alin Speriusi-Vlad told The Associated Press Monday she was detained because her name appeared on an Interpol list.

A court in the western city of Timisoara on Monday ruled Oral, who is a Brussels-based activist with the Socialist Women’s Union, should not be released before the extradition hearing on July 31. The court also ruled against consulting the European court of Justice to clarify laws regarding refugee status. She will appeal.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Romania, Osman Koray Ertas, said Oral is wanted on links to “a left-wing terrorist group.””

  26. Canada police issue warrant for imam for ‘anti-Semitic hate speech’ (BBC, Jul 17, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40634993

“A Palestinian-Jordanian imam accused of giving an anti-Semitic sermon is wanted by Canadian police for hate crimes.

A Montreal judge issued an arrest warrant for Sheikh Muhammad ibn Musa Al Nasr on Sunday for promoting hate.

Jewish organisation B’nai Brith said Mr Al Nasr preached Jews were the “worst of mankind” and should be slaughtered, in a sermon in Montreal in December.

Mr Al Nasr’s whereabouts are unknown and B’nai Brith is calling for his extradition to Canada.
“Today, the Jewish community of Montreal can sleep safer, knowing that there is a price to pay for inciting violence against our community,” said Michael Mostyn, chief executive officer of B’nai Brith Canada in a statement.

Mr Al Nasr is charged with the wilful promotion of hatred under Canada’s anti-hate crime laws.
During his sermon in Arabic at the Dar al-Arkam Mosque in Montreal last December, Mr Al Nasr reportedly said Jews were the “worst of mankind” and that Muslims should slaughter them on Judgement Day.

The sermon is still posted to the mosque’s YouTube channel, and B’nai Brith says the mosque has not apologised for Mr Al Nasr’s statements.”

  27. Turkey: Erdogan’s Obsession to Take Jerusalem

    by Burak Bekdil

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10638/turkey-erdogan-jerusalem

Less than a year ago, Turkey and Israel agreed to end their six-year-long diplomatic stand-off and officially “normalized” their relations. They appointed ambassadors Kemal Okem to Israel and Eitan Na’eh to Turkey, two prominent career diplomats, who, since then, have been struggling actually to normalize formally normalized ties. As some observers, including your humble correspondent, cautioned in 2016:

“Erdogan had pragmatically agreed to shake hands with Israel, but his ideological hostility to the Jewish state and his ideological love affair with Hamas have not disappeared; so the Turkish-Israeli ‘peace’ would not be easy to sustain”.

Only half a year into the “normalized charter” Erdogan in May pledged that his government would work with the Palestinian people to guard against the “Judiazation of Jerusalem.” This may be vintage Erdogan. The Turkish president’s promise was not too different from a call for a struggle to guard against the “Catholicization of the Vatican.”

  28. The Left’s Next Step: Redefining ‘Hate Speech’ as Violence
And guess who defines what constitutes ‘hate speech’?
    July 17, 2017
    Mark Tapson

An article in the Sunday Review section of the July 16 New York Times posed a question which, once upon a more innocent time, would have been considered nonsensical: “When Is Speech Violence?” The response of any person who cares about the clarity of language would properly be “Never,” but Lisa Feldman Barrett, a professor of psychology at Northeastern University, asserts in the Times piece that the science is settled: “speech that bullies and torments” is “literally a form of violence.”

It might seem obvious, Barrett begins, that “violence is physically damaging; verbal statements aren’t.” Yes, that should be obvious to anyone except illiberals, who know that whoever controls the language controls minds. So they are hell-bent on weaponizing words to advance their totalitarian agenda.

The left has spent decades successfully normalizing the intentionally vague term “hate speech” in the culture, even going so far as to insist that it should not be protected by the First Amendment. But what is “hate speech”? It’s anything the left wants it to be, of course. When the media elites of CNN or HBO or The View or late night talk shows openly bash Christians or the traditional values of flyover Americans, it is never, ever condemned as hate speech; but those same elites leap to denounce virtually everything the right says as such. It is a brilliantly effective way to delegitimize conservatives and their ideas, and to exclude them from the public sphere.

  31. MEMRI – TERRORISM IS ROOTED IN ISLAMIC TEXTS, NOT IN THEIR INTERPRETATION – HAMED ABDEL SAMED

Egyptian-German scholar Dr. Hamed Abdel-Samed discussed in his “Box of Islam” online lecture series the persecution of Christians in Egypt by Islamists and the authorities. Rejecting the claim that terrorism is rooted in oppression and injustice, Dr. Abdel-Samed said that the Copts and Yazidis do not become terrorists despite their oppression. “Terrorism is caused by an ideology that stems from the textual roots of your religion – not from the interpretation of these texts, but from the texts themselves,” he added. The lecture was posted on Dr. Abdel-Samed’s YouTube page on February 27.

Hamed Abdel-Samed: “The [Coptic] minority is humiliated, because there is no equality. This has happened time and again. It is not the first time. In 2013, I wrote an article in Al-Shorouk about a Christian teacher called Bishoy Kamil Kamel. His story is tragic. Somebody opened a Facebook page under his name and cursed Islam. Even though his family proved that that page did not belong to him, the man was imprisoned for six years. Why? Because of what is going on today in El-Arish and what happened in Minya. Muslim zealots gathered outside his home, burned down his home, and wanted to kill his Christian neighbors.

  36. ‘What are they afraid of?’ Quebec imams condemn vote against Muslim cemetery

The news of Sunday night’s vote opposing the creation of a Muslim cemetery in Saint-Apollinaire has been met with disbelief and dismay in the Muslim community, says a well-known Quebec imam.

“People are demoralized. Outraged. They’re outraged at how come only 19 people can decide the fate of thousands of people,” Hassan Guillet told CBC News on Monday morning.

Guillet said it’s important to recognize the decision was not a rejection of the Muslim community in Quebec, but rather the rejection of the creation of a cemetery by the people who live adjacent to the proposed project.

Still, he expressed his personal disappointment, saying he believed the area was well situated for a burial ground.

“I was very sad. Surprised and especially very sad and upset.”

Guillet caught the world’s attention with his address at the funeral for three of the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting last January.

Only residents who lived adjacent to the proposed site were allowed to cast ballots. The vote was 19-16 against the cemetery, with one spoiled ballot. A total of 49 residents were entitled to vote in the referendum.

Quebec Muslims currently bury people in a cemetery in Laval. After the mosque shooting, Quebec City Mayor Régis Labeaume vowed to create a burial ground for Muslims.

On Monday, Labeaume called the vote against the cemetery “sad.”

“You had 49 people that had the right to decide on a subject, on a project that has consequences all over the province,” he said.

“In terms of governance, that’s quite special.”

    ‘What are they afraid of?’

Mohamed Labidi, president of the Quebec City mosque that was the scene of the shooting, said the referendum’s result shocked its members.

He said the community had been working to establish a Muslim cemetery for nearly 20 years, and “every time, we run into all kinds of problems.”

Labidi said he feels it’s clear the referendum in Saint-Apollinaire was used as a way to reject the Muslim community.

“We never thought people could oppose the installation of a cemetery,” he said on Gravel le matin, Radio-Canada’s Montreal morning radio show.

    “What are they afraid of?”

Saint-Apollinaire Mayor Bernard Ouellet admitted some of the opposition was founded in fear. For many of the residents, they’re only exposed to negative depictions of Islam in the media, he said.

“When you lack information, fear predominates,” Ouellet also said on the radio show. “In the worst of cases, they were talking about being invaded or losing their roots as Quebecers.”

But Labidi said Muslims wouldn’t be visiting the town that often. All they want is to bury those who’ve died, he said.

Ouellet said he was disappointed by the vote’s result, but satisfied with the process, despite the fact only 49 people could cast ballots under the current zoning laws.

“I think we’ll have to take a look at that,” he said of the decades-old legislation created when Quebec’s population was a lot less diverse.

“I think it would have been interesting if the whole population could have voted, for sure.”

    Drainville, politicians respond

Bernard Drainville, the former Parti Québécois politician who drafted the party’s controversial Charter of Values, voiced his support for the Muslim cemetery, tweeting in French that the referendum result was a blow to inclusivity in the province.

“We tell Muslim Quebecers ‘it’s your Quebec.’ Then they ask for some land for their dead and it’s no? Disappointed. Very,” he wrote.

NDP leadership candidate Guy Caron also took to Twitter to express disappointment with the referendum result.

“With respect, trust and dialogue, our society will be stronger.”

  37. Our Corrupt Media Is Now Haunted By All The Precedents They Set While Colluding With Obama

Barack Obama trafficked guns to Mexican drug lords, secretly delivered pallets filled with billions in cash to Iran’s America/Jew-hating mullahs, left four Americans to die in Benghazi and then lied about it, allowed his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to exchange government favors for hundreds of millions of dollars slushed into the Clinton Foundation, sic’d his IRS on everyday, law-abiding Americans, and used a trillion dollars in “stimulus” funds to pay off his cronies, like those behind a boondoggle called Solyndra.

And all along, over eight terrible years, our media did a whole lot more than just let Obama get away with it. They wholeheartedly colluded. They allowed Obama to persecute them through the Department of Justice and to lie to our face (remember: I just now read about it in the newspaper, the IRS did nothing wrong, you can keep your insurance). And when that wasn’t enough, the media mercilessly attacked as racist anyone who criticized the Precious and ginned up nothingburgers like Todd Akin to distract from those four dead Americans. And when even that wasn’t enough, they themselves lied and obfuscated, covered up and dissembled, and most of all they set all kinds of precedents that, in a delicious form of irony, are now driving this utterly failed institution to the edge of insanity.

  39. BBC – Saudi Arabia investigates video of woman in miniskirt

The authorities in Saudi Arabia are investigating a young woman who posted a video of herself wearing a miniskirt and crop-top in public.

The women, a model called “Khulood”, shared the clip of her walking around a historic fort in Ushayqir.

The footage sparked a heated debate on social media, with some calling for her arrest for breaking the conservative Muslim country’s strict dress code.

Other Saudis came to the woman’s defence, praising her “bravery”.

Women in Saudi Arabia must wear loose-fitting, full-length robes known as “abayas” in public, as well as a headscarf. They are also banned from driving and are separated from unrelated men.

In the video initially shared on Snapchat over the weekend, Khulood is seen walking along an empty street in a fort at Ushayqir Heritage Village, about 155km (96 miles) north of the capital Riyadh, in Najd province.

Najd is one of the most conservative regions in Saudi Arabia. It was where the founder of Wahhabism – the austere form of Sunni Islam that is practised by the Saudi royal family and religious establishment – was born in the late 18th Century.

The video was quickly picked up by Saudis on Twitter, where opinion was divided between those who believe Khulood should be punished and others who insisted she should be allowed to wear what she wanted.

Journalist Khaled Zidan wrote: “The return of the Haia [religious police] here is a must.”

Another user argued: “We should respect the laws of the country. In France, the niqab [face-covering veil] is banned and women are fined if they wear it. In Saudi Arabia, wearing abayas and modest clothing is part of the kingdom’s laws.”

The writer and philosopher, Wael al-Gassim, said he was “shocked to see those angry, scary tweets”.

“I thought she had bombed or killed somebody. The story turned out to be about her skirt, which they did not like. I am wondering how Vision 2030 can succeed if she is arrested,” he added, referring to the reform programme unveiled last year by Saudi Arabia’s newly-appointed 31-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Some defended Khulood by noting that US President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, and daughter, Ivanka, had chosen not to wear abayas or headscarves during a visit to Saudi Arabia in May.

Others wrote that had the woman been a foreigner, people would be talking about her beauty, but because she is Saudi, they are calling for her arrest.

Fatima al-Issa wrote: “If she was a foreigner, they would sing about the beauty of her waist and the enchantment of her eyes… But because she is Saudi they are calling for her arrest.”

On Monday, the Okaz newspaper reported that officials in Ushayqar had called on the provincial governor and police to take action against the woman.

The religious police, the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, meanwhile wrote on Twitter that it had been made aware of the video and was in contact with the relevant authorities.

  41. Russia vows to boot US diplomats if compounds aren’t reopened

Russia has vowed to kick out American diplomats if the US refuses to reopen two Russian compounds — one on Long Island and another in Maryland — that were shuttered last year.

The estates were closed by the Obama administration last December as part of US retaliation against Russia for its meddling in the 2016 election. President Obama said the compounds were being “used by Russian personnel for intelligence-related purposes.”

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Friday that Moscow “will have to take reciprocal measures” if an agreement regarding the compounds can’t be reached.

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the matter last week, but have yet to come up with a solution.

  42. House Witnesses: Al-Qaeda ‘Strongest in Syria’ Where It Could ‘Incorporate’ Failing Islamic State

WASHINGTON, DC — Al-Qaeda, the primary target of the U.S. war on terror that followed the 9/11 attacks, has evolved and grown stronger mainly in Syria where it has set the conditions to establish an Islamic emirate while America primarily focuses on defeating the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), some analysts tell House lawmakers.

“ISIS has strengthened al Qaeda,” argued Katherine Zimmerman from the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) in written testimony, adding, “Should ISIS’s global network collapse, al Qaeda will be able to capture the remnants and incorporate ISIS’s capabilities into its own organization.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Seth Jones, the director of the International Security and Defense Policy Center at the Rand Corporation, argued in his prepared remarks that al-Qaeda “has been in decline,” failing to “conduct or inspire many attacks in the U.S. homeland.”

The al-Qaeda experts testified before the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence during a hearing Thursday titled, “The Persistent Threat: Al Qaeda’s Evolution and Resilience.”

  43. Hillary Clinton’s Attack Plan Against Bernie Sander’s Wife

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ claims that an ongoing FBI probe of his wife is based on partisan politics don’t square with the fact that it began under President Obama and appears to closely track Democratic opposition research revealed in the hacked emails of the Hillary Clinton campaign.

The FBI and U.S. Attorney in Vermont are investigating Jane O’Meara Sanders for her role in a failed 2010, $10 million college land deal that she orchestrated during her seven-year stint as president of Burlington College in Vermont.

According to a series of 2015 emails to and from Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, leaked to and published on Wikileaks, the Clinton team wrote an extensive political opposition memo entitled “Sanders Top Hits-Thematics.” The memo details Mrs. Sanders’ role in the college’s financial failure, and parallels the ongoing FBI investigation, now before a grand jury, into the scandal. Other email correspondence shows the Clinton team believed scandals surrounding the college and Jane Sanders provided an opportunity to knock the Vermont senator’s reputation and chances to win the Democratic primary election.
