  2. Absent the wonders of fractional reserve banking and central bankers there would unlikely exist the luxury of well-fed young neomarxists trying to kill and cripple Hamburg police. A world without false, debt-deluded prosperity need not be poor. The period under a gold standard in pre-1913 USA saw incredible real growth. The creation of the Federal Reserve was the beginning of the end of this. The US dollar purchasing power has been reduced something like 95% since then. This is not accidental. The bankers under JP Morgan started it, and Keynes came along as a monetary tyrant like icing on the bankers’ cake. For those of you who disagree with me, and believe in fiat currency, I challenge you to find me a world reserve currency that has endured. No such beast exists. Even the Holy Roman Empire continuously reduced the silver and gold content of its coinage to afford it’s wars, bread and circuses. Average life expectancy is circa 120 years, give or take. Given the accelerant effect of technology I would guess this cycle to be shortening.

I urge readers to not ignore this important aspect of current events. The next time you hear of or read the expression “fat finger” as it relates to the marketplace, pay attention. The expression refers to a false mistake whereupon a “fat finger” pressed two keys on a computer at once to execute a massive mistaken sale–usually of paper gold or silver.

Precious metals remain the foundational point of the inverted pyramid of global economics. All human endeavor rests on this small point. All derivatives (mostly debt) are balanced precariously on this point to the tune of hundreds of trillions of dollars.

The Hamburg protesters should be out earning an honest living, not tearing apart society because they have the luxury and energy to do so.

      • The biggest problem is that there is nothing we can do to stop the coming crash, all we can do is pray that the people in the US that are holding large amounts of gold and silver will bail the US out of being a totally failed state. I would say they wouldn’t need to put up much but I don’t know how much of the reserves Obama sold.

“POLICE have arrested a waiter who allegedly slit a customer’s throat while he had breakfast in a Spanish seaside resort about to host a famous festival packed with British music fans.

The shocking crime happened just after 8am yesterday at a cafe bar in the east coast town of Benicassim – scene of the annual FIB festival which kicks off this Thursday.

The cafe had the unfortunate name Bar La Alegria – Happiness Bar in English.

Local reports said the 56-year-old Spanish victim was having a coffee and reading his paper on the bar terrace when his assailant attacked him from behind by surprise with a knife.

Witnesses watched in horror as the victim slumped forward on his breakfast table after having his throat cut.

The suspect was arrested at the scene without offering any resistance.

Investigators were today said to be probing whether he was suffering from a mental illness or had had previous run-ins with his alleged victim as they tried to work out a possible motive for the crime.

Both the unnamed victim and the detainee lived locally. The dead man, an engineer thought to run an electrical testing company, was a regular at the breakfast bar…”

“The Libyan National Army (LNA) announced on Saturday that it was still pursuing the remaining extremists in the northern city of Benghazi only days after it announced that it was liberated from the gunmen.

Military and medical officials announced that 12 members of the army were killed and 35 others injured in battles that had erupted in the city.

LNA commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar had announced the liberation of Benghazi on Wednesday after three years of battles with extremists.

An official spokesman for the special forces said that five terrorists were arrested and nine others were killed during an operation to liberate the republican hospital in the city.

The special forces succeeded in securing the facility and nearby areas, as well as al-Nouran hotel and other neighborhoods in the Sidi Akherbish area.

    https://english.aawsat.com/kifah-ziboun-and-asharq-awsat/news-middle-east/identity-sinai-attackers-stirs-controversy

“Unconfirmed news about the participation of former Hamas members in the ISIS’ attack in the Sinai Peninsula that killed at least 23 Egyptian soldiers stirred up debates in Palestine and Egypt.

Social media accounts of ISIS supporters reported that three persons from Rafah, south of Gaza strip, were former members of al-Qassam brigades and participated in the attack. The members were recognized after Egyptian army posted their pictures and later announced that their families had identified them.

Both Egyptian and Palestinian media outlets reported the news without any official sources commenting on the matter. Yet, sources said later on that what has been posted was not accurate. The sources also said that the families mentioned didn’t announce anything.

If the reports that Palestinians participated in the attack were true, Hamas will be in hot waters especially after it had pledged to monitor the borders. In addition, Egyptian army’s reports that extremist members from Gaza were part of attacks against Egypt will be confirmed…”

  6. Azerbaijan Accuses Armenia of 109 Karabakh Truce Violations in Last 24 Hours (sputniknews, Jul 9, 2017)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201707091055377345-azerbaijan-armenia-karabakh/

“Armenia has violated the ceasefire regime in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region 109 times over last 24 hours, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said on Sunday, amid recently escalated tensions between the sides to the conflict.

“The defense ministry announces that Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire regime across the contact line 109 times in last 24 hours, using mortars (60- and 120-millimeter, three shells),” the ministerial statement said.

Azerbaijan’s Armenian-dominated region of Nagorno-Karabakh proclaimed its independence in 1991, triggering a military conflict that led to Baku’s loss of control over the region. The violence between Azerbaijani and Nagorno-Karabakh forces escalated on April 2, 2016, leading to multiple casualties. The sides agreed to a ceasefire on April 5, but clashes have continued.

In a recent incident, on Tuesday, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said that the Azerbaijani village of Alkhanli was shelled, which resulted in the deaths of two people as well as the civil property damage. The unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh republic’s Ministry of Defense pointed out that its forces opened retaliatory fire against Azerbaijan’s multiple rocket launcher firing positions, and put all the blame on Baku.”

  9. Barzani Heads to Brussels to Tackle Independence Referendum with EU (aawsat, Jul 9, 2017)
    https://english.aawsat.com/theaawsat/news-middle-east/barzani-heads-brussels-tackle-independence-referendum-eu

“The Higher Council for the Referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan region affirmed on Saturday its commitment to holding an independence vote on September 25.

Head of the region Masoud Barzani is meanwhile scheduled to travel to Brussels next week in order to address the vote with European Union officials.

Media aide for the Kurdistan region’s presidency, Kifah Mahmoud, told Asharq Al-Awsat that Barzani will be making his trip to Belgium at the request of the EU.

The Kurdish people’s independence vote will be the first and most important topic of discussion with European officials, he said.

The president will explain the various aspects of the process and the reasons for holding it, he added.

“The EU has many questions over this issue,” Mahmoud said.

The region will invite all rights and media organizations to oversee the vote, he stated.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the region Amid Sabah told reporters following the Higher Council for the Referendum meeting that the affirmation of the vote date was “effectively the first step to holding the general vote in Kurdistan.”

The gatherers agreed on the council’s general structure and “we will then enter the implementation phase whereby the secretariat will chose its representatives at the council’s various branches,” he explained.

Members of these branches will kick off visits to Baghdad and various countries to tackle the independence vote and clarify it to all sides, he said.

The Higher Council for the Referendum meeting also stressed the need to resolve problems linked to the political process in Kurdistan and to adopt serious measures to improve the citizens’ living conditions.”

    • Turkey will not tolerate Kurdish state & ‘terror havens’ on its borders – Erdogan (RT, Jul 9, 2017)
      https://www.rt.com/news/395772-erdogan-turkey-kurdish-threat/

“Ankara will respond decisively to any threats on its borders, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared at the end of G20 summit in Hamburg, warning against any push by the Kurds to secure their own independent region.

The Kurds have been the main fighting force battling jihadist on the ground in Iraq and Syria, playing an essential role in the US-led coalition’s campaign against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists in Mosul and Raqqa.

In May, the US Department of Defense confirmed the delivery of heavier weapons to US-allied Kurdish fighters which the US believes are needed to outmaneuver the Syrian government and retake the city of Raqqa from IS.

“We will definitely not remain silent and unresponsive to the support and arming of terror organizations next to our borders and the forming of terror havens in the region,” Erdogan warned Saturday at the conclusion of the G20 in Germany, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation quoted.

The Turkish government has urged the US to reverse its decision to broaden support for Syria’s Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (YPG), stating that it is unacceptable for a NATO ally to support “terrorist groups.”

Ankara perceives the YPG as terrorists allied with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a militant movement whichTurkey has been battling for three decades. And while Washington agrees with Ankara’s designation of the PKK as a terrorist organization, the US rejects the idea that Kurdish forces in Syria or Iraq should be equated with the PKK.

Turkey also feels threatened by the Kurds in Iraq, especially after the US pumped millions of dollars into the Iraqi army which relies heavily on Kurdish Peshmerga fighters.

Last month Iraq’s Kurdish region announced that they will hold an independence referendum in September. Erdogan spoke out against the move, fearing that it might produce a domino effect leading to Kurdish-controlled autonomous areas (cantons) in northern Syria to declare independence as well.

“We do not support the idea of a divided Iraq, and a referendum would hurt the peace and stability in the country,” Erdogan said in Hamburg. “If division starts in the north, it would extend to Turkmens, Arabs and there can even be a sectarian-based division between Shias and Sunnis.”

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey will not allow a Kurdish state to be established in northern Syria. However, despite repeated reports that the Kurds in Syria want to create their own state, there’s been no official moves to suggest that an independence declaration is imminent.”

      • We need Turkey enough to have to listen to their complaints, but not enough to let them dictate our actions.

  10. Trump, Asian allies seek counter to North Korean ‘menace’
By KEN THOMAS and DARLENE SUPERVILLE, Associated Press THE ASSOCIATED PRESS STATEMENT OF NEWS VALUES AND PRINCIPLES

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Wrapping up his second European tour, President Donald Trump searched for consensus with Asian allies Saturday on how to counter the “menace” of North Korea after its test-launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

“Something has to be done about it,” Trump said as he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In a separate meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Trump said the two were tackling “the problem and menace of North Korea.”

The White House said after the meeting with Abe that the U.S. was “prepared to use the full range of capabilities” in defense of Japan. Trump and Abe committed, the White House said, “to redoubling their efforts to bring all nations together to show North Korea that there are consequences for its threatening and unlawful actions.”

The Trump administration has tried to press Beijing to rein in North Korea, a major trading partner of China, and halt Kim Jong Un’s development of nuclear weapons before they can threaten U.S. territory. Trump has voiced his frustration in recent days that China hasn’t done more, suggesting he may take steps of his own.

But during his meeting, Trump told Xi, “I appreciate the things that you have done relative to the very substantial problem that we all face in North Korea.”

Xi said during the meeting that “sensitive issues remain” in the China-U.S. relationship and more work needed to be done. But he said he had built with Trump a “close contact.”

Trump’s extensive slate of meetings with Abe, Xi, British Prime Minister Theresa May and others came on the final day of the annual Group of 20 summit, which has been marked by violent demonstrations by anti-globalization activists. Trump also had a brief, unscheduled meeting with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the situation in Syria.

  11. G-20 Riot Leaves Trail of Destruction as German Officials Scramble for Answers
Hundreds of officers and protesters were injured in overnight violence; 265 people were detained by police

HAMBURG—A riot that raged for hours just a mile from the Group of 20 meeting site left German officials struggling to explain Saturday how protests that had long been predicted spiraled out of control.

Only after SWAT teams, riot police and water cannons swept block by block were authorities able to end the overnight riots in the left-leaning Schanzenviertel neighborhood, a 20-minute walk from the venue where leaders of the world’s 20 largest economies continued their two-day meeting Saturday.

Stores were looted, barricades and cars set on fire, and officers attacked with rocks, bottles and slingshots, Hamburg police said. Authorities moved to quell the riots only after they had raged for hours, according to several shopkeepers in one of the hardest-hit streets.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/g-20-riot-leaves-trail-of-destruction-as-german-officials-scramble-for-answers-1499522983

    • Whilst the residents cowered in their homes hoping they and their property would not be attacked.

      • If it were in the states in a state that allows firearms the people in the neighborhoods would be putting up barricades and having armed guards to keep the rioters out of the neighborhood. The cops hate it when this happens but the people walk back to their homes when ordered and then when the cops leave come back out.

    • JULY 09 2017 -Germany: G20 protesters march on Hamburg detention centre holding hundreds of activists

Around 1,000 protesters marched from the centre of Hamburg-Harburg, Sunday, to one of the city’s temporary detention centres where many G20 demonstrators are being held, rallying in solidarity with the hundreds detained in relation to protests against this weekend’s summit.

SOT Hannah, G20 protester (German): “I am absolutely happy that so many different forms of protests took place on the streets, together in solidarity, and the amount of diversity that was present, and the displays of anger and rage, but also of hope that a different world is possible and can be created already today in our fights.”

SOT Frank John, speaker at the “No one forgotten, nothing forgiven” demonstration (German): “From a political – analytical point of view: The game that the police is only able to play is the one of violence. The police is not communicative, they are not able to be democratic, they are not civil.”

SOT Frank John, speaker at the “No one forgotten, nothing forgiven” demonstration (German): “Here no bobbies running around or police officers in flip flops like in Hawaii 5-0 [a TV show] or something like that. No, we have police officers who are, clearly said, only equipped for civil war-like situations. And for that they need images and if these are not there or would have not been there, they would have been questioned even more on what this was about.”

  12. U.S. Rejects UN Treaty on Nuclear Weapons

The United States, along with the other nuclear powered nations of the world, rejected the UN’s treaty to ban nuclear weapons on a global scale.

All of the world’s nuclear powers – including the U.S., France, Britain, and Russia – have refused to be part of the negotiations.

The vote was approved by 122 non-nuclear members of the United Nations Friday, with the Netherlands voting against the deal, and Singapore sitting out the vote.

The dissenting nations are also permanent members of the UN Security Council and stated the treaty was unrealistic.

They added countries like North Korea would never comply with a nuclear weapons ban.

    http://www.oann.com/u-s-rejects-un-treaty-on-nuclear-weapons/

    • They added countries like North Korea would never comply with a nuclear weapons ban.

All it takes is just one turd in the punch bowl to spoil the fun.

If not North Korea, what about Pakistan? Wouldn’t taqiyya allow them to dissemble about having surrendered all of their nuclear arsenal?

What would the world’s political trajectory look like if, one morning, we all woke up to find an Islamic country (one of the most violent, no less) as this planet’s sole possessor of nuclear weapons? How’s that little fairy tale going to end?

Hint: “Happily ever after” doesn’t even enter the equation.

      • That is what would happen, anyone that gives up the right of self defense soon discovers they are victims to the criminals and slaves to the government.

  13. De Blasio, keynote speaker at G20 protest, wants world to know Americans don’t align with Trump
    By J.E. Dyer July 8, 2017

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has taken his share of criticism for scooting out of town on short notice to hang on the fringes of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. A lot of New Yorkers think the city has plenty of problems to keep the mayor busy, and he doesn’t need to be spending his time on political posturing overseas.

So it’s a good thing de Blasio didn’t take off for Germany for any light or transient reason.

It turns out he wasn’t just interested in the “Hamburg Shows Attitude” rally for the water cannons. De Blasio was invited to be the protest demonstration’s keynote speaker. And speak he did, urging Hamburgers and a waiting world to understand that — as the Washington Post puts it — “Americans don’t align with Trump.”

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/07/08/de-blasio-keynote-speaker-g20-protest-wants-world-know-americans-dont-align-trump/

    • De Baliso is not going to go away and the arrogance of the self anointed elite are not going to change, the voters are going to have to bad together and vote the people like them out of office and find some way to keep them out of politics. Just as we are going to have to find some way to bring the deep state civil servants to heel and make them realize that they work for us not rule us. I think that the only way to do the latter is to put a large number of deep state civil servants into the pen.

  14. Oppo group linked to Trump ‘dossier’ surfaces in latest MSM ‘scoop’ about meeting with Russian lawyer
    By J.E. Dyer July 9, 2017

The mainstream media have gone to high warble on Saturday over another leak of confidential government information to the New York Times, this one involving “the first confirmed private meeting between a Russian national and members of Mr. Trump’s inner circle during the campaign.”

The meeting in question reportedly occurred on 9 June 2016, in Trump Tower, and was honchoed by Donald Trump, Jr.

The previously unreported meeting was also attended by Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, as well as the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to interviews and the documents, which were outlined by people familiar with them.

The Russian lawyer was Natalia Veselnitskaya:

The Russian lawyer invited to the Trump Tower meeting, Natalia Veselnitskaya, is best known for mounting a multipronged attack against the Magnitsky Act, an American law that blacklists suspected Russian human rights abusers. The law so enraged Mr. Putin that he retaliated by halting American adoptions of Russian children.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/07/09/oppo-group-linked-trump-dossier-surfaces-latest-msm-scoop-meeting-russian-lawyer/

    • Donald Trump Jr. gathered members of campaign for meeting with Russian lawyer before election

Shortly before his father was formally nominated for president last summer, Donald Trump Jr. was approached by a Russian lawyer who set up a meeting to discuss a Russian policy, according to interviews with Trump family lawyers.

President Trump’s eldest son briefly gathered others for the meeting, including his brother-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as then-presidential campaign manager Paul Manafort for the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City with the lawyer, identified by Trump family lawyers as Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Veselnitskaya used the meeting in June 2016 to have a conversation about a U.S. law called the Magnitsky Act that Russia leader Vladimir Putin reviles and has retaliated against by blocking U.S. adoptions of Russian children.

The encounter was short and the Trump team had no further contact with the woman or the policy issue, lawyers said.

The meeting was recently disclosed to congressional investigators by one of the attendees, according to sources directly familiar with the disclosure.

      https://www.circa.com/story/2017/07/08/donald-trump-jr-met-with-russian-lawyer-during-election-but-didnt-follow-up

    • If we want to talk about collusion with the Russians why aren’t the people looking at the way Fusion GPS and the Democrats the focus of the discussion? They clearly worked with the Russian lawyer to set up the Trump campaign for charges of collusion.

The Russia narrative is turning around and biting the Dems in the butt, we are getting more and more evidence of Dems and their agents fomenting violence towards Trump supporters. Dems and their agents trying to frame the Trump people of colluding with the Russians, (The Dems are talking about criminal collusion, which makes the attempts to frame the Trump people a majro felony). We have the Obama administration discovering attempts to hack the Dem computers and possibly computers that count the votes in several states and then doing nothing. The hacking was purportedly done by the Russians although many tech experts say that evidence could have been planted by the hackers.

Given the facts stated above it is likely that one or more high ranking Dems is going to be cause up in the investigation and caught to the extent they have to be sent to the pen for many years.

Now add in de Blasio and other Dems like him traveling overseas to work against the current administration, the current policies and in my opinion against the best interest of the United States, our allies and civilization itself. These charges and crimes are very serious and should be spread across the nation on the front pages and the lead items on the nightly news. The Propaganda media is refusing to do this and by this inaction proving they are political agents of the Dems and not neutral journalists.

  15. Memri – We Were Beaten Up, ISIS Are Infidels” – Widows of ISIS Fighters

    • Put every one of these women to death.

No question, they were an integral part of the fantasy sold to the world. So very glib, they’ll never acknowledge their guilt. Unrepentant evil must perish.

Unspeakable crimes – even having witnessed them – make them unfit for normal life anywhere. Breeders, every one, they must be destroyed.

Above all, take their children away as soon as possible. Each day they further contaminate the innocent.

    • Does he and the other leftists really believe this BS or do they think we are stupid enough to believe it?

Personally I think it is the latter and from reports most of the people in Europe agree with the people in the US who are saying that he evidence says that the current climate swing is a normal climate swing. These cycles have happened for as long as the world has existed.

  16. More than 5,000 asylum seekers “missing” from Finnish reception centres
Over 5,000 asylum seekers appear to have gone underground in Finland, according to a review of asylum seekers registered in the country. Yle combed through the statistics and found that the missing migrants left asylum seeker reception centres without informing officials of their intended whereabouts.
An Yle head count of asylum seekers who entered the country since January 1 indicates that more than 5,000 remain unaccounted for at reception centres. According to Yle they have left the facilities without notifying officials.

According to data reviewed by the national broadcaster, some 40,600 people applied for asylum in Finland between January 1 2015 and July 1 2017. During that interval, some 11,900 asylum applications were approved, while 18,000 were denied.

Statistics show that the number of negative asylum decisions handed down began to grown from June 2016, with 11,500 applications rejected during the last six months of the year.
    No longer on the books

During that same time period, some 10,700 asylum seekers were either deported or left the country voluntarily. Among those who left the country, 3,200 were people whose asylum applications lapsed because they had registered in another EU country before applying for asylum in Finland. Such individuals were returned to the countries in which they registered under the Dublin Regulation.

However according to Yle, the numbers also show that 5,100 asylum seekers left the reception centres where they were staying without informing officials.

They may have remained in Finland as undocumented migrants, or they may have moved on to other EU countries or voluntarily returned to their countries of origin without cancelling their asylum applications. However, officials now have no information about their whereabouts.

  17. Deutsche Welle -Muslim imams march against terrorism in Europe

Around 60 imams from several European countries are on a bus tour of cities hit by Islamic terrorism in order to condemn extremism committed in the name of religion.

Their message is that Islam is a religion of peace.

The “March of Muslims against Terrorism” kicked off on Saturday in Paris with a prayer at the site on the Champs-Elysees where a policeman was murdered by an Islamist militant in April.

It is about sending a “message of humanity and brotherhood against terrorism,” said Imam Houcine Drouiche from the French city of Nimes.

From Paris, some 60 imams will head by bus on Sunday to Berlin’s Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the scene of December’s terror ramming of a Christmas market that killed 12 people and wounded dozens more.

The imams, including six from Germany, will then travel by bus to other cities hit by major terror attacks over the past several years, including Brussels, Toulouse and Nice. The action will end in Paris on July 14 to mark Bastille Day.

Along the tour the imams want to pray for the victims of terrorism and show that Islam can co-exist with other religions and cultures. Organizers want to show that for the vast majority of believers Islam is a religion of peace.

    Taking Islam ‘hostage’

At stops along the way, the imams are expected to be met by political, religious and civil society figures in communities touched by terrorism.

The organizers of the peace march are Imam Hassen Chalghoumi of the Parisian suburb of Drancy and the French Jewish writer Marek Halter.

Chalghoumi told French broadcaster France Inter on Sunday that violent groups like “Islamic State” are trying to take Islam “hostage.”

“It is important that Muslims can express themselves to say that my religion has nothing to do with these barbarians,” Chalghoumi said.

    • Muslim leaders rally in Berlin against terrorism

BERLIN: Around 30 Muslim leaders from across Europe gathered Sunday for a rally against terror in Berlin at the site of a deadly truck attack in December, claimed by the Islamic State group.

The event, which attracted a few hundred participants[.... a few dozens ], was part of a “March of Muslims Against Terrorism” by imams who set off by bus from Paris on Saturday.

The gathering in the German capital took place at the Breitscheidplatz square, where a Tunisian who had failed in his attempt to seek asylum ploughed a hijacked lorry through crowds at a Christmas market, an attack that killed 12 people.

The Islamic leaders held a prayer for the victims, joined by local Muslim, Christian and Jewish representatives.

Imam Hocine Drouiche from the southern French city of Nimes was quoted by German media as saying that the event was meant to send a “message of fraternity against terrorism”.

The Lutheran bishop for the Berlin region, Markus Droege, praised the imams’ tour.

“Religion is the way of peace,” he said. “Violence, hatred and terror betray faith and betray God.”

A total of about 60 imams are meant to join the tour of European cities, taking in Brussels, Toulouse and Nice — which have all suffered deadly assaults by Islamic extremist assailants — before returning to Paris on Friday.

“THIS is the moment a woman cradling a baby prepares to detonate a suicide bomb in an ISIS stronghold in Mosul.

At first sight it looks like the woman, clad in a hijab and carrying a baby, is fleeing the city which has been under siege for months.

But photos reveal she is holding a trigger, which will be pulled seconds later.

An Iraqi TV station captured the seconds before she blew herself and the baby up near Iraqi troops.

A cameraman for al-Mawsleya TV said the woman attempted to detonate the explosives vest hidden under her hijab as she walked past Iraqi soldiers.

But the bomb failed to go off, exploding seconds later as the woman walked a distance away.

“HUNDREDS of thousands took to the streets in Istanbul in the biggest protest against the country’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan since the failed coup.

Turkey’s main opposition leader told a huge protest rally on Sunday that the country was living under dictatorship and pledged to keep challenging the crackdown launched by the authorities after the military failed to seize power last year.

The huge rally culminated in the Maltese parade ground after a 25-day, 280-mile march from the country’s capital Ankara, led by Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Mr Kilicdaroglu, addressing the crowd, said that the rally was just the first stage of a long campaign.

He said: “We will be breaking down the walls of fear.”

The 68-year-old added: “The last day of our Justice March is a new beginning, a new step.

“We demand justice. We demand justice not only for those who gathered here, not only those who support us, but for everyone.

“Justice is the foundation of the state. In present-day Turkey the foundation of the state is at risk.

”The era we live in is a dictatorship.”…”

“Somali security forces said on Sunday they had killed 18 Islamist insurgents during an operation in the northern region of Puntland, although the militants denied sustaining any casualties.

“We killed 18 militants and burnt six of their bases in Galgala hills in an operation over four days to eliminate al Shabaab,” said Colonel Mohamed Ismail, a senior officer in the Puntland Security Force.

“We also took their weapons. We burned their food and medicine stores.”

Puntland’s security forces are trained and supported by a small number of U.S. operatives based in the semi-autonomous northern region. It was not clear whether the United States had any involvement in the operation.

Al Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked insurgent group that wants to impose strict Islamic law, confirmed there was a raid but denied there were any casualties.

The defendants include 151 who are in custody and 141 who are being tried in absentia.

They are accused of both trying to assassinate Al-Sisi and being part of terrorist groups including Daesh.

Since coming into power in a military coup in 2013, Al-Sisi has cracked down on opposition groups and listed a number of them as terrorist organisations. Thousands of people who have opposed his rule have been thrown in jail accused of joining terror groups.”

  27. Saudi Arabia exports extremism to many countries – including Germany, study says (DW, Jul 9, 2017)
    http://www.dw.com/en/saudi-arabia-exports-extremism-to-many-countries-including-germany-study-says/a-39618920

“A British study has found that Saudi Arabia plays a key role in the radicalization of Muslims. The Wahhabi influence, fueled by oil money, can be seen in Germany as well, says researcher Susanne Schröter.

DW: After the bloody terror attacks in Great Britain, there are an increasing number of studies being conducted on the cause of radicalization. Britain’s Henry Jackson Society, a think tank, has published a report on foreign funding for extremist branches of Islam in Great Britain.

Saudi Arabia has been clearly named as one of the greatest supporters. In the past 50 years, Riyadh has invested at least 76 billion euros ($86 billion) in Wahhabi extremism, the ideological basis of extremist and jihadist movements throughout the world. Are you surprised about these findings?

Susanne Schröter: The findings do not surprise me at all. It has long been known that Saudi Arabia has been exporting Wahhabist ideology – largely similar to the ideology of the so-called “Islamic State” (IS).

Propaganda material and organizational expertise are being sent along with money. People are being hired to build mosques, educational institutions, cultural centers and similar organizations, so that Wahhabist theology can reach the public – with great success.

Where is this extremism, that is fueled by oil money, most obvious?

The export of Wahhabism got off the ground after the Islamic revolution in Iran. The revolution had dramatically shaken the Saudis. When Iran started exporting its Shiite ideology, the Saudis felt threatened by it. Around that time, in 1979, hardliners seized the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The Saudis launched an ideological offensive and said, “Now we are exporting our own ideology.

We will show the hardliners in our own country what we are capable of achieving.” Then, they started promoting Wahhabism through intermediaries and organizations like the World Muslim League in different countries throughout Asia, Africa and parts of Europe – for example, in former Yugoslavia where Muslims and Christians fought against each other in the civil war. Wahhabists saw it as gateway, where money was needed since the Muslim population was ready for a new and radical ideology.

The result is that, in many parts of the world, a radical form of Islam is gaining the upper hand. I have experienced this first hand in Southeast Asia. In southern Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and sometimes Malaysia, it was always said that a special form of Islam was practiced, a much more open, much more tolerant version.

There has been a dramatic development towards radicalism over the past three decades. It is perfectly clear that this development has been encouraged by Saudi money. Moreover, young intellectuals have been recruited with generous scholarships at Saudi universities. These people return to their homes after having studied at Saudi universities and suddenly carry out Wahhabi missionary work in all their home countries.

Pierre Vogel, perhaps the most well-known German Salafist preacher, studied on a Saudi scholarship in Mecca. Saudi Arabia has apparently influenced the radicalization process of Muslims in Germany. German media made such claims in December 2016, citing intelligence sources. It was said that religious foundations from the Gulf States, especially Saudi Arabia, supported local Salafist groups in Germany with the approval of their governments. To what extent does this correspond to your research findings?

This is absolutely consistent with our findings. In some cases, state-owned Saudi institutions were massively involved. There was once a Saudi attache in Berlin, Mohamed Fakihi. He had connections to the terrorist cell in Hamburg that carried out the attack on the World Trade Center in New York in 2001.

Fakihi also was well connected to Berlin’s Al-Nur Mosque, which often attracts attention for being a Salafist hotspot. The attache is now no longer there but back then, it was the first time people became aware of this.
We have seen that Saudi foundations are operating everywhere – partly underground and partly through intermediaries, like Nadeem Elias.

Until 2006, he was chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany. This is one of the most important Muslim associations that constantly maintain inauspicious ties with Saudi foundations, including the Muslim World League or the World Assembly of Muslim Youth.

There is also another high-ranking official in the Central Council of Muslims: Ibrahim El-Zayat. Zayat was chairman of the Islamic Community of Germany from 2002 to 2010. We have only scratched the surface.

And when people are asked questions, they are always evasive. But it is clear that there are organizations and individuals in Germany who take the Wahhabization of German Muslims seriously.

According to latest report published by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, a German domestic intelligence agency, the Salafist scene in Germany has now grown to include over 10,000 members. There must be other reasons apart from Saudi support, right?

Of course. Firstly, not only the Saudis bankroll extremists. Now attention has been been drawn to Qatar for doing this. And yes, it is true that Qatar provides funds and Kuwait provides funds. There are also other players in the Gulf Region who support radical tendencies here in Germany – including Iran. Iran has set up an institute in Berlin, where it works as a missionary. I assume that if you observe where money flows, you will be amazed. Germany is generally a place where foreign extremist organizations are active.

  28. Europe’s Mass Migration: The Leaders vs. the Public

    by Douglas Murray
    July 9, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10639/europe-migration-bill-gates

Is Bill Gates a Nazi, racist, “Islamophobe” or fascist? As PG Wodehouse’s most famous butler would have said, “The eventuality would appear to be a remote one”. So far nobody in any position of influence has made such claims about the world’s largest philanthropist. Possibly — just possibly — something is changing in Europe.

In an interview published July 2 in the German paper Welt Am Sonntag, the co-founder of Microsoft addressed the ongoing European migration crisis. What he said was surprising:

“On the one hand you want to demonstrate generosity and take in refugees. But the more generous you are, the more word gets around about this — which in turn motivates more people to leave Africa. Germany cannot possibly take in the huge number of people who are wanting to make their way to Europe.”

These words would be uncontroversial to the average citizen of Europe. The annual survey of EU citizens recently carried out by Project 28 found a unanimity on the issue of migration almost unequalled across an entire continent. The survey found, for instance, that 76% of the public across the EU believe that the EU’s handling of the migration crisis of recent years has been “poor”. There is not one country in the EU in which the majority of the public differs from this consensus. In countries such as Italy and Greece, which have been on the frontline of the crisis of recent years, that figure rockets up. In these countries, nine out of ten citizens think that the EU has handled the migrant crisis poorly.

  29. Rouhani and Trump: Together against Iran’s Men with Guns?

    by Amir Taheri

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10637/rouhani-trump-irgc

These days something strange is happening with regard to Iran. You might say: so what? Strange things have been happening with regard to Iran ever since the mullahs seized power in 1979.

Alright, but what is happening now may merit closer attention because it represents an unprecedented convergence between the thinking of the Trump administration in Washington, on the one hand, and that of one of the factions involved in the power struggle in Tehran, on the other.

Last month, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that the Trump administration is putting final touches to a new policy on Iran with the ultimate aim of regime change. While details of this new policy remain a mystery, one thing maybe clear: one of its aims would be the dismantling of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which US experts identify as the mainstay of the Khomeinist regime.

National Security Adviser General H.R. McMaster has more than hinted at this, while a number of Republican policymakers, among them Senator Tom Cotton, have evoked the designation of the IRGC as a “terrorist organization.”

Parallel to those developments, the Islamic Republic’s own President Hassan Rouhani has launched a campaign of vilification against the IRGC.

  30. Deadly Tale: Christian Converts from Islam

    by Majid Rafizadeh
    July 9, 2017 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10560/christian-converts-from-islam

It is currently being spouted through all forms of media — impossible to ignore — you will hear claims over and over again by many radical Imams, Muslim scholars, and preachers that Islam is a religion of inclusiveness, that anyone can become a Muslim just by muttering a few words. It seems quite simple, right?

This is not new. I grew up hearing all these claims in Iran, under Islamic laws. To uninformed ears, this can sound almost magical. What is important, however, are the many more significant requirements the imams conveniently leave out. Above all, once you become a Muslim, there is no way to turn back. Your faith is under the control of the extremist imams, sheikhs, governments, or simply the community. You cannot just decide to abandon Islam and go back to how you were living. The penalty of attempting this is death.

Additionally, those imams and sheikhs who will have you believe how easy it is to join Islam, claim that Islam accepts Christianity and Judaism (“people of the book”), and that there is absolutely no difference between the Abrahamic religions. Sounds nice to most ears. But it is absolutely false. Let us take a quick look at some people who left Islam for other “Abrahamic” religions, particularly Christianity.

Maryam Naghash Zargaran, a 38 year-old Christian convert from Islam, is currently facing serious health issues in one of the world’s most vicious jails; Evin prison in Tehran.
