I am a Jew. All of my ancestors have been Jews since Judaism was founded almost 6,000 years ago on the belief of a monotheistic God. I pray in Hebrew every morning and every night. And I am deeply, cruelly, painfully embarrassed at my fellow Jew, Bernie Sanders, Senator from Vermont.
Within the last few days, from his nuthouse chair in a U.S. Senate Committee Room, he blasted a fine man named Russell Vought. Mr. Vought had been nominated by another fine man, Donald Trump, President of the United States, to be deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. That’s an extremely hard job. I worked with those brilliant people forty some years ago, especially with the mega genius, Paul O’Neil, on a bill to provide universal health care to all Americans. I guess it would have been called Nixon-Care if it had passed.
Mr. Vought was tormented and lectured to by Bernie Sanders because he had written some time earlier that he was a Christian and he felt as if all men and women who were not Christian “stood condemned” before God. Sanders said this statement was “Islamophobic,” a favorite phrase of trouble makers. He said it also offended Jews. And as he yelled at Mr. Vought, Mr. Vought simply stood his ground and said, basically, “I am a Christian and I am not going to walk away from Christ.”
This left Bernie sputtering with impotent rage.

Part of the problem that we have in Texas is that two of the most brutal criminal groups south of the border, which actually operate north of the border as well, as you know, are Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel. But unlike most of the other criminal organizations in Mexico along our border, which would be Sinaloa, Juarez Cartel, Tijuana Cartel. Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel are extremely brutal. In fact, the videos they release resemble ISIS videos. We try to challenge them as much as possible, but what more could the U.S. do? There’s talk of declaring certain factions as foreign terror organizations so you could appropriately go after the money and the politicians. Again, Tamaulipas, a state below Texas, the last two governors are fugitives from U.S. justice for being surrogates of the Gulf Cartel. Several of the governors in Coahuila are now in trouble because they were Los Zetas. What more could the U.S. do to to challenge Mexican transnational criminal groups who operate in our country, who kill our kids? What could we do to challenge them?
SEN. TED CRUZ: We could do a great deal more. What has happened in the last decade with Mexican drug cartels has been nothing short of tragic. Mexico is a great and wonderful country. Eleven different rescue operations were carried out Saturday, resulting in a total of some 1,200 migrants being brought to Italian shores, while on Sunday another 1.650 more were added to their number in the course of 12 different interventions.
The operations took place amid a brewing conflict between the Libyan Navy and various NGOs. “An audio message purporting to come from the spokesman of Islamic State called on followers to launch attacks in the United States, Europe, Russia, Australia, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and the Philippines during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began in late May.
The audio clip was distributed on Monday on Islamic State’s channel on Telegram, an encrypted messaging application. It was attributed to the militant group’s official spokesman, Abi al-Hassan al-Muhajer.
The authenticity of the recording could not be independently verified, but the voice was the same as a previous audio message purported to be from the spokesman.
“O lions of Mosul, Raqqa, and Tal Afar, God bless those pure arms and bright faces, charge against the rejectionists and the apostates and fight them with the strength of one man,” said al-Muhajer. Rejectionist is a derogatory term used to refer to Shi’ite Muslims.
“To the brethren of faith and belief in Europe, America, Russia, Australia, and others. Your brothers in your land have done well so take them as role models and do as they have done.””

“The European Union’s executive will open infraction proceedings against three eastern members on Tuesday for failing to take in asylum-seekers as part of a relocation plan to relieve the hardest-hit countries.
Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic will be issued letters of formal notice on Tuesday at a European Commission meeting for failing to take asylum seekers from Italy and Greece, according to reports.
The Commission will be publishing a report on the current state of the relocation program and the proceedings will be then due to start on Wednesday, with the publication of a monthly package. On May 16, Brussels launched an ultimatum to countries not relocating, saying that it would not hesitate to open infraction proceedings.
Prior to being published, the report will undergo discussion at the meeting of European commissioners on Tuesday and thus last minute changes are possible. “The Bavarian interior minister wants to close the “blatant security gap” in the three German states that don’t allow random police checks. Critics say they don’t bring results and result in racial profiling.
Joachim Herrmann arrived at Monday’s interior minister conference in Dresden with an agenda. The Bavarian minister had come to the eastern German city to get the three states that have still banned random police checks to buck up their ideas.
Cunningly, Herrmann took to a Rhineland newspaper – North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) being one of those states – to make his views known. The fact that Berlin, Bremen and NRW didn’t allow the police to stop and identify whoever they liked was a “blatant security gap that urgently needs to be closed,” he told the Rheinische Post.
Herrmann also wanted to see random checks extended in border areas, around airports, railway stations and rest-stops, as well as on autobahns that lead in and out of the country. At the moment, such checks are only allowed within 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of Germany’s borders.

Herrmann received immediate backing from his federal counterpart, Thomas de Maiziere. “We can’t allow two zones with different security,” de Maiziere told public broadcaster ARD in the morning, before repeating his demands to force companies to allow security authorities access to private messaging services like WhatsApp…”

Reducing poverty and conflict in Africa were the main topics raised by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday as she met with African leaders ahead of next month’s Group of 20 (G20) summit.
The leaders of the African Union from Guinea, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ghana, Tunisia, Rwanda and other nations met in Berlin to discuss a so-called “compact with Africa.” The initiative seeks to team up African nations which have committed to economic reforms with private investors who would then bring jobs and businesses.
“Positive development in the world will not work unless all continents participate,” Merkel said in Berlin. “We need an initiative that does not talk about Africa, but with Africa.”
Germany’s Finance Ministry announced on Monday that it agreed partnerships with Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Ghana as part of a planned investment of up to 300 million euros ($335 million) to help African nations.
Fighting poverty to stop mass migration
Underscoring the pressure African countries face, Merkel contrasted Germany’s average age of 43 with the average age in Niger and Mali of 15.
“If we don’t give young people any prospects, if we don’t invest in education and qualifications, if we don’t strengthen the role of girls and young women, the development agenda won’t succeed,” she said.
Berlin is seeking to alleviate poverty particularly in African countries whose citizens have been among the hundreds of thousands of people who have arrived in Germany as asylum-seekers over the past two years. Last year, Germany took in around 890,000 migrants, thousands of whom came from African countries including Eritrea, Ghana and Ethiopia.
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara said the solution to mass migration “lies in the massive creation of jobs through strong and inclusive economic growth,” adding that “young Africans will feel better in Africa than elsewhere.”…”

The Geller Report had the news this morning: “Police are increasing patrols at two mosques in Cambridge after strips of bacon were…left on the car windscreens to insult fasting Muslims.”
That’s right: this is what the British police are concerned about in the wake of the jihad massacres in Manchester and London: bacon. Not that they’re enjoying a hearty breakfast; they’re protecting Muslims and mosques from supposed “hate crimes.”
The proportions here are a bit off. Twenty-two people are dead in Manchester and seven in London at the hands of Islamic jihadists. One would think that in light of that, the Cambridge police would laugh off a few strips of bacon in front of a mosque, and tell the mosque leaders to direct their attention to more important matters, such as working to root out jihad terror sympathizers and plotters from their communities.
One would think wrong. It must be remembered that not long before the Manchester and London jihad massacres, the supposedly “anti-extremism” Quilliam Foundation claims that “the threat from far-right groups is as severe as the jihadist threat.”
That’s what these bacon police patrols are all about: shoring up that sagging narrative, and buttressing the claim that the racist, xenophobic “far-right” constitutes just as much of a threat to Britons as Islamic jihadis. A few strips of bacon next to twenty-nine dead is a sad exercise in moral equivalence, but it’s all the British authorities have to work with, and so they’re running with it.
Yet while Cambridge police devote their manpower and resources to tracking down the perpetrators of “bacon hate crime,” let’s step back for a moment and consider the larger picture.

“[A] bit off.” A bit off!?! This isn’t just polite understatement. Nor is it a touch of irony. Calling it, “a sad exercise in moral equivalence“, barely starts to address this profound and deeply disturbing case of unequal protection under the law.
The boundaries of this formula—as in, “Twenty-two people are dead in Manchester and seven in London”—don’t make even the most perfunctory, tangential contact with, “a few strips of bacon in front of a mosque”. The orders of magnitude in difference involved have no meaningful locus with regard to a remotely fitting allocation of law enforcement resources.
Telling, “the mosque leaders to direct their attention to more important matters, such as working to root out jihad terror sympathizers and plotters from their communities” is insignificant, if not downright counterproductive. Especially when compared to the more appropriate measure of zero-notice mass deportations—along with systematic confiscation of all real estate, possessions, and capital finances—that these atrocities merit.
Britain’s Muslims should be endlessly grateful that retaliations for the Manchester and London Bridge slayings have come in the form of people flinging about a few rashers of sowbelly. Dousing the entryways of several mosques with an inch of semi-liquid bacon fat doesn’t even begin to approximate a slight degree of reciprocity.
When a mosque is abruptly bulldozed—with no opportunity to remove or salvage its furnishings—for each victim of a jihadist attack, even that will only constitute an overly calm response to these endless barbaric outrages. As in: The sooner reprisals for all incidents of jihadist savagery take on a viciously brutal and harsh demeanor, the more likely it is that UK (and European) Muslims will gain some sense of just how idiotic they are to constantly poke the nuclear-armed Western tiger with their pointed wooden sticks.

Should the GOP seek to end Mueller’s investigation?
BREITBART – Swamp Fights Back: Mueller Hires Clinton Foundation Lawyer for Russia Probe
Reputed Trump confidant and Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy told PBS News’s Judy Woodruff Monday that President Donald Trump is considering dismissing Special Counsel Robert Mueller, according to a tweet by Woodruff.
The news comes on the eve of Attorney General Jeff Sessions testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committe on the Russia investigation. This follows a hearing featuring the testimony of fired FBI director James Comey before the same body.
Mueller — who, on his appointment by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, took independent control of the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 elections — had a shadow cast on his impartiality when Comey, a one-time mentee of Mueller’s who suceeded him at the Bureau, revealed under oath that he deliberately leaked a potentially privileged memo to the press specifically to ensure the appointment of a special counsel.
The ploy worked. Rosenstein, who was handling the investigation because Sessions had already recused himself based on his involvement in the 2016 Trump presidential campaign, came under immense political pressure to appoint a special counsel. Mueller was quickly applauded as an impartial choice by voices across the political spectrum.
Since his appointment, he has made signals as to the criminal nature of his investigation, hiring Andrew Weissmann, the former head of the DOJ criminal division’s fraud section, and former Deputy Solicitor General Michael Dreeben.
A more controversial pick of Mueller’s was former prosecutor and WilmerHale partner Jeannie Rhee. In 2015, according to Politico, she performed work for the Clinton Foundation, defending it from FOIA requests related to Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
These developements have raised some red flags on the right. For example, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Fox News, “This is going to be a witch hunt.”
Joining the chorus was Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning, suggesting Mueller’s role should be curtailed if not eliminated. In a prepared statement, he wrote:
Given former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony that there is no collusion between President Trump and Russia to do with the campaign, the scope of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation should be dramatically narrowed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to simply the leaks and the Obama administration unmaskings to led to this witch hunt in the first place. If Mueller refuses to investigate these leaks, which are one of the central reasons he was even appointed as Special Counsel, then the Special Counsel should be discontinued. It is not up to the Justice Department to choose who the President of the United States is. The American people already made that decision in 2016.
Sessions will testify tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
