Christian church DESTROYED as Chinese police drag worshippers into street and beat them
Violence broke out in Shanggiu in Henan province after 300 police officers and officials demolished the Shuangmiao Christian Church—which was under construction.

South Bay man crashes drone, causes power outage, evacuation
A man triggered a power outage in Mountain View Thursday night when he crashed his drone into a high-voltage wire and caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage, officials said.
Police are now on the hunt for the man, who they say was flying the drone illegally. The power outage affected 1,600 people, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

Wonder if they got the idea from the 1991 Gulf War Tomahawk cruise missiles dumping spools of carbon fiber filaments onto power lines? The filaments vaporize into a conductive plasma and create an overload; maybe that was in turn inspired by large aluminized Mylar party balloons that did the same when caught by power lines.
This means that the simplest means to bring down a power grid can be accomplished by a nitwit using a drone trailing conductive wires that can span the width of a large birds wings.

There are things I presume to edit Trump on, such as his omission to date of an outline for understanding U.S. policy in Syria; that is, what U.S. interests and goals are. Obama never gave us such an outline, and Trump could accomplish more by ponying one up than he apparently thinks. Even in our compromised condition of national power, shaping everyone’s expectations is still a big power booster, and usually an obviator of at least some need for persuasion by armed force.
I’d like to see Trump using all his voices, and making that strategically useful nod to the conventions of statesmen.
But one thing I won’t criticize Trump for is his tweeting.
I was thinking this over the last couple of weeks, listening to the talking heads wring their hands over Trump’s tweeting habits. Hey, the theme goes: maybe he’s not the anime villain we thought he was; the man might actually be a certified homo sapiens – not a pod person from outer space – but. If he’d just stop TWEETING. OMG with the tweeting. He’s killing his presidency. He’s got to stop. No mas! We can’t take it!

A reported 37 people were injured, including 10 children, after a fire broke out at a migrant housing shelter in Bremen on Sunday morning. The fire started in the cellar of the building, but the police have yet to state whether the blaze was an accident or because of an arson attack.
Around 70 firefighters and 27 emergency vehicles were deployed to tackle the blaze at the site, which housed a reported 100 migrants.
Spokesperson for the Bremen Firefighter Department Matthias Jacobi stated that “the building is no longer inhabitable” and that “50 of the reported 76 inhabitants were moved to another accommodation.”
An investigation is ongoing.

CERN Just Fast-Tracked Plans to Build a Particle Collider Three Times as Big as The LHC
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) still has plenty of good work left to do in the field of particle acceleration, but scientists are already starting work on its replacement, set to be three times as big as the (already huge) original.
Development on the LHC’s replacement is expected to take decades, which is why experts are keen to get started now. The aim is to put together a machine that’s some seven times more powerful than the hardware we have today.
More than 500 scientists from across the world have been putting their heads together in Berlin, Germany this week to figure out what LHC 2.0 – or the Future Circular Collider (FCC) – might look like.
Where the LHC’s looping tunnel stretches for 27 kilometres (nearly 17 miles), the FCC’s circuit would measure between 80-100 kilometres (50-62 miles), and it’ll be located just down the road from its predecessor on the France-Switzerland border.
With double-strength magnets installed, the plan is to have the next machine able to smash particle beams together with a strength of up to 100 tera electron Volts – about the same level of particle acceleration that you would get from 10 million lightning strikes.
That extra energy would potentially enable researchers to see hidden particles even heavier than the Higgs boson, a particle underpinning our most fundamental understanding of the laws of nature that the LHC found evidence for in 2012. (more at link)

“A U.S.-backed Syrian opposition force said Sunday it has captured a northwestern neighborhood of the Islamic State group’s de-facto capital of Raqqa the second district to fall in their hands in days after the group launched a wide offensive to gain control of the extremists’ de facto capital.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said its fighters captured the neighborhood of Romaniah after two days of fighting that left 12 IS gunmen dead, including a commander known as Abu Khattab al-Tunsi.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said SDF fighters now control Romaniah and the eastern neighborhood of Mashlab. The fighters have also entered Raqqa’s western neighborhood of Sabahiya and the industrial district in the east.
Raqqa was among the first cities captured by IS, in January 2014, and has been the home of some of the group’s most prominent leaders. The battle for the city is expected to be extended and bloody, and could mark a major turning point in the war against the extremists.
IS has been fortifying its positions in Raqqa for months, setting up barriers and hanging sheets of cloth over main streets to provide cover from warplanes. A belt of land mines and militant checkpoints circle the city.
SDF fighters began their offensive on the city of Raqqa on June 6 under the cover of airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition.
The IS-linked Aamaq news agency said the city was subjected to intense airstrikes and shelling by the SDF and the U.S.-led coalition releasing a video that showed wide destruction in one of the neighborhoods. The video also showed severely wounded men and children being rushed to hospitals.
In southern Syria, Jordan said its border guards have killed five suspected infiltrators approaching the kingdom’s border from Syria in a pickup truck and two motorcycles.
The military said in a statement that the incident took place near the spot where Jordan, Syria and Iraq meet.
Jordan has been on alert for possible infiltrations by IS extremists who seized territories in Syria and Iraq in 2014. In recent months, Jordan expressed concern that U.S.-backed offensives against IS will push some of the militants closer to the kingdom’s border.
The army said nine vehicles approached Jordan from Syria in the past three days, and border guards opened fire to hold them back. The army says that in the latest incident, troops fired on a pickup truck and two motorcycles, killing five.”

New York attorney general opens investigation Eric Trump Foundation

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is examining allegations of self dealing by the Eric Trump Foundation made in a report that appeared in the June 29 issue of Forbes.
“I can confirm that our office is looking into issues at the Eric Trump Foundation raised by the Forbes report,” said Eric Soufer, the attorney general’s director of communications, according to Politico.
The report lays out a case against the foundation, alleging that it funneled money to the Trump Organization through charity golf outings. The golf events, which are held annually at the Trump Golf Course in Westchester, N.Y., have raised millions for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
The magazine also accuses Eric Trump of lying when he told Forbes that the charity has access to all of the Trump Organization’s assets free of charge. The report indicates the Trump Organization actually received some part of more than $1.2 million that has no documented recipients past the Trump Organization.

The argument many pundits on the left push is that Clinton voters supported the former secretary of state because most of them have at least a college degree and thus are more adept at thinking critically. These voters’ enlightened state brought on through years of lectures, exams, and papers at our nation’s colleges and universities guided them to support Clinton and eschew, if not downright dismiss, Trump.
Look no further than the Boston Globe’s headline from Nov. 9, 2016, titled “Donald Trump won. Let the uneducated have their fun,” or Foreign Policy’s headline “Trump Won Because Voters Are Ignorant. Literally.” on November 10, 2016, as evidence of the dominant narrative pushed following the Trump’s victory.
The Wall Street Journal reviewed the results of a little-known test used to measure student’s improvements in their critical thinking skills over the course of their tenure in college. The test is called the “Collegiate Learning Assessment Plus.” After reviewing the results from over 200 colleges and universities in the U.S. from 2013 to 2016, the Journal found some rather depressing statistics.

MOROCCO – Protesters flood streets of Rabat in solidarity with Rif
Thousands of people took to the streets of Rabat Sunday demanding that authorities release the leaders of a protest movement that has rocked Morocco’s neglected northern Rif region for months.
The demonstrators marched along Mohamed VI avenue in downtown Rabat in a procession nearly a kilometre (less than a mile) long, chanting “Free the prisoners!”, an AFP correspondent said.
An interior ministry source said between 12,000 and 15,000 people took part in Sunday’s protest which was organised by several organisations including Morocco’s most popular Islamist group.
The tolerated but unrecognised Al-Adl Wal Ihsane (Justice and Charity) organisation put the number of demonstrators in what it hailed as “a historic march” at one million.
Over the past two weeks authorities in the North African country have arrested dozens of people in a crackdown on Al-Hirak Al-Shaabi or “Popular Movement” protests in the Rif port of Al-Hoceima.
Eighty-six people have been referred to the prosecution, among them 30 who have been charged with offences including “undermining internal security”, and have been incarcerated.
Among them is Al-Hirak leader Nasser Zefzafi, who was among the first to be arrested on May 29.
On Sunday, many marchers held up portraits of Zefzafi, and his father also briefly joined the protest alongside families of other arrested activists.
The demonstrators also waved the flags of the Amazigh, Morocco’s Berber community.
The mainly Berber Rif region has been rocked by social unrest since the gruesome death of a fishmonger in Al-Hoceima last October.
Mouhcine Fikri, 31, was crushed to death in a rubbish truck as he tried to prevent the destruction of swordfish which had been confiscated after being caught out of season.
Calls for justice snowballed into a wider social movement led by Al-Hirak demanding development, an end to corruption and jobs for the Rif.

Led by Islamists, thousands of Moroccans rally in support of northern protests
Thousands of Moroccans led by an Islamist movement rallied in the capital Rabat on Sunday in a massive show of support for protests against corruption and official abuses in a northern region that have tested authorities for weeks.
Chanting against “ruling mafia” and carrying portraits of detained activists, protesters packed Rabat’s Bab El Hed area and marched toward the parliament, with most from the Adl Wal Ihsan (Justice and Spirituality) Islamist movement.
Political unrest is rare in the North African kingdom but protests around northern city Al-Hoceima since October have been the largest since the 2011 “Arab Spring”-inspired rallies that prompted the king to cede some powers.
The participation of Justice and Spirituality is significant. A major player in the 2011 protests, the movement is banned from formal politics, but is the only opposition group able to mobilize on a massive scale.
“We came out to protest about the social reality in Morocco,” said Lamia, a school teacher who came from the northern city of Tetouan to the Rabat rally. “We’re here in solidarity with Al-Hoceima, to demand dignity.”
Police estimated the rally was more than 10,000 strong, though Justice and Spirituality said it was much larger. It was the most significant political rally in Rabat since the 2011 unrest and smaller leftist groups and labor unions, as well as some parliamentary opposition parties, also participated.
Some chanted slogans, including: “Your corruption is starting to stink.”
The northern protests erupted in October in Al-Hoceima after fishmonger Mouhcine Fikri was crushed inside a garbage truck while trying to salvage his fish that had been confiscated by police.
Fikri’s death has become a symbol for frustrations about official abuses and revived the spirit of the February 20 movement that led pro-democracy rallies in 2011 and prompted King Mohammed VI to carry out constitutional reforms.
Some of the anger in the Al-Hoceima protests has been directed at “Makhzen”, the royal governing establishment, but the unrest has not been aimed at the king. Morocco has a deeply rooted monarchy, the Muslim world’s longest-serving dynasty.
But tensions in Al-Hoceima and the Rif region, long a hotbed of anti-government dissent, have been rising since the arrest of the protest movement’s leader Nasser Zefzafi on charges of threatening national security.
The unrest is testing nerves in a kingdom that presents itself as a model for stability and gradual reform, as well as a safe haven for foreign investment in a region affected by militant violence.

British Muslims handed out thousands of roses to passers-by on London Bridge on Sunday, as part of a campaign called ‘1000 Roses London’, to show solidarity with victims of recent terror attacks.
Event organiser Zakia Bassou and her friends gave out over 3,000 roses, only a week after the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attack.
Bassou hoped to spread a message of unity, saying, “We are determined, in defiance of all of those who would have our communities divided, we are determined to promote good community and interfaith relations and really not let London Bridge fall down or any bridge upon which the communities of this city are based.”
Members of the public donated far more money than Bassou and her friends initially expected, meaning that the could hand out 3050 roses instead of the originally planned 1000.

A Hennepin County judge issued an emergency protection order for a man who helped Minneapolis police uncover an arsenal of guns and bomb-making devices during a routine arrest.
The restraining order was filed this week against Majid Al Rifahe, who was arrested with his brother, Abdullah Al Rifahe, about 5 p.m. May 11 after the men threatened a passerby who confronted them for littering. Inside the men’s car, officers found a hand grenade, handgun, assault rifles and magazines and a large quantity of ammunition, according to a criminal complaint against the brothers. They also found cellphones, computers and electronics equipment, including drone parts.

Paris, April 4, 2017, 4:00 am. A Malian Muslim named Kobili Traore breaks into the apartment of one of his neighbors, Sarah Halimi. He knows she is a Jew. In the past, He has repeatedly uttered anti-Semitic insults at her. Halimi and her family had filed complaints and asked the police to intervene. Each time, the police respond that Traore has not committed a criminal act, and that they did not want to be accused of anti-Muslim prejudice.
That day, Traore decides to go from words to deeds. He beats Halimi violently. He tortures her. She screams. Neighbors call the police. This time the police do something — but not enough.
When they arrive at Halimi’s door, they hear Traore shouting Allahu Akbar, and shaytan (“demon”). In a jarring breach of duty, they decide to run away. They walk out of the building and call for reinforcements.
The reinforcements arrive more than an hour later, at 5:30 am. It is too late. Halimi had been thrown out the window by Traore a few minutes earlier. She is dead. Her body lies on the sidewalk three floors below. It is clearly an anti-Semitic murder committed by a Muslim who invoked the name of Allah.

One newcomer arose in the political spectrum: a Muslim party, the Parti Egalité Justice (“Equality and Justice Party”; PEJ). What is notable is that PEJ is an element of a network of political parties built by Trukey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP), to influence each country of Europe, and to influence Europe through its Muslim population.
PEJ: A Pro-Erdogan Party in France
The PEJ was created in 2015 in Strasbourg, the de facto capital of eastern France, on the border with Germany. PEJ has already approved 68 candidates — not enough to cover the whole territory but enough to compete efficiently in districts where Turkish and Muslim populations are strongly represented. French citizens of Turkish origin are estimated to represent 600,000 people in France, out of a Muslim population estimated at 5-15 million, but official statistics do not exist.
Another Muslim party, “Français et Musulmans” (“French and Muslims”), is also quietly preparing to erupt on the political scene of the French legislative elections. “Français et Musulmans” originates from L’Union des Organisations Islamiques de France (UOIF) which has been rebaptized “Muslims of France”. “Français et Musulmans” is the French branch of Muslim Brotherhood.
