  2. German MEP admits ‘NIGHTMARE’ of having 28 member state voices within the European Union (express, May 3, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/799382/German-MEP-Ingeborg-Grassle-failure-of-member-voices-within-the-EU-Europe-Brussels

“A GERMAN MEP has highlighted the “nightmare” of having 28 voices within the European Union, claiming France and Germany take the lead because of it.

Ingeborg Grassle, a member of the European Parliament’s largest party, the European People’s Party, said other EU member states should not be “jealous” of the two leading countries’ power within the Brussels bloc.

Her comments come as Theresa May was taken to task on how difficult it is for British negotiators to face the will of 27 European Union countries.

BBC journalist Laura Kuennsberg put it to the Prime Minister that the UK was “brutally outnumbered” by the EU.

Speaking on France 24, Ms Grassle said: “Imagine the nightmare when you have 28 or 27 people around the table, everybody speaks in another direction.

“We want to have common progress with everybody. Somebody needs to start and this was always the sense of the Franco-German couple that we tried to start a way for all others.

“Not instead, but for all others. This was always the line and the way and nobody should be jealous because it is a decision of us all and everybody is on the same level of importance.”

Mrs May was lambasted by political journalist Kuenssberg over her confidence in the Brexit talks.

Speaking on the BBC, Kuenssberg said: “You are brutally outnumbered by 27 other countries, you can say as much as you like that you will be tough, you’ll try to get the best deal. But you are brutally outnumbered.”

But the Prime Minister insisted Britain could get a “good deal” that was positive for both sides and she was the best person to fight its corner compared to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.”

Among the wounded are three US troops, according to U.S. Navy Captain Bill Salvin, a spokesman for the Nato-led Resolute Support mission.

A bomber is believed to have been targeting a convoy of military vehicles belonging to the Resolute Support.

“Syrian activists say a large explosion in a northern town along the border with Turkey has killed at least four people and wounded many others.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the death toll in the town of Azaz is likely to climb after Wednesday’s blast.

Both the Observatory and the activist-run Revolutionary Forces of Syria media office say the explosion is believed to have been caused by a car bomb. Images posted online by the activist-run Azaz Media Center showed a burnt out car and a fire in the area.”

“A rights advocacy group says more than 250,000 people have signed an online petition urging Turkey to release some 120 journalists who were jailed following last summer’s failed coup.

Amnesty International says the petition, signed by journalists, cartoonists and artists, also calls for Turkey to end its “ruthless” crackdown on freedom of expression. Details of the campaign were released Wednesday, to coincide with World Press Freedom Day.

Dozens of journalists were arrested on terror-related charges following the failed coup of July 15 for alleged ties to Kurdish rebels or to a U.S.-based cleric blamed for attempt. Turkey has shut down more than 150 media organizations.

Amnesty’s secretary general, Salil Shetty, called on Turkey to “immediately and unconditionally release all journalists jailed simply for doing their job.””

“Pakistan’s army says authorities have executed four militants convicted by military courts.

The army says the militants, members of the Pakistani Taliban, confessed to their involvement in attacks against civilians and the military. The executions were carried out early Wednesday.

Pakistan lifted a ban on capital punishment and set up the military courts to try suspected Islamic militants after a Taliban attack on a school in December 2014 killed more than 150 people, mainly children. Justice Project Pakistan, a human rights group, says 441 people have been executed since then, including at least 32 convicted by military courts.

  7. Powerful Saudi prince says no space for dialogue with Iran (abcnews, May 3, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/powerful-saudi-prince-space-dialogue-iran-47163097

“Saudi Arabia’s deputy crown prince said Tuesday in a rare and wide-ranging interview that there is no space for dialogue with rival Iran due to its Shiite ambitions “to control the Islamic world.”

The interview, which aired on multiple Saudi TV channels, offered a glimpse into how Mohammed bin Salman views the kingdom’s top rival. It also laid bare the breadth of his portfolio and powers.

The 31-year-old prince, who was named in 2015 by his father, King Salman, as an eventual heir to the throne, is Saudi Arabia’s defense minister, overseeing the war in Yemen against a rebel group aligned with Iran. He also oversees economic matters and is behind a bold program to overhaul the Saudi economy.

Framing the tensions with Iran in sectarian terms, he said it is Iran’s goal “to control the Islamic world” and to spread its Shiite doctrine in preparation for the arrival of a revered imam named Mohammed al-Mahdi. Shiite Muslims believe al-Mahdi, the 12th and last Shiite imam, who disappeared in the 9th century, will one day reappear to bring justice to Earth.

When asked if he sees a possibility for direct dialogue with Iran, the prince replied: “How can I come to an understanding with someone, or a regime, that has an anchoring belief built on an extremist ideology?”

“What are the interests between us? How can I come to an understanding with this?” he said.

Iran and Saudi Arabia’s rivalry has played out in proxy wars across the region. They back opposite sides in the wars in Syria and Yemen and they support political rivals in Lebanon, Bahrain and Iraq. The conflicts have deepened Sunni-Shiite enmity between hard-liners on both sides.

Ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran have been strained since Iran’s 1979 revolution, with each side competing to be the more powerful force in the Muslim world.

Tensions escalated last year. Saudi Arabia’s execution of a local Shiite cleric sparked the ransacking of the Saudi Embassy in Iran by protesters. The two countries severed diplomatic and trade ties.

“We know we are a main target of Iran,” Prince Mohammed said. “We are not waiting until there becomes a battle in Saudi Arabia, so we will work so that it becomes a battle for them in Iran and not in Saudi Arabia.”

On Yemen, the prince defended the kingdom’s decision to go to war there, which is costing Saudi Arabia tens of millions of dollars a day, according to some estimates.

The conflict has worsened an already sweeping humanitarian crisis in Yemen and killed thousands of civilians, mostly by Saudi-led coalition airstrikes.

Experts say the more than two-year-long war has reached a stalemate. Saudi Arabia and its allies have not been able to dislodge the Iranian-allied rebels, known as Houthis, from the capital of Sanaa and other major cities.

When asked about this, Prince Mohammed said the Houthis could be uprooted “in a matter of days.” But, he said, Saudi Arabia has not sent ground troops to retake the capital and other major cities because it would lead to thousands of deaths among Saudi soldiers and Yemeni civilians.

“Time is on our side. Patience is on our side,” he said.”

    • Pay close attention, folks. For all the pomposity and putsch, Erdogan is a raw beginner with respect to actually becoming Caliph. While this turkey Turkish wannabe pasha has demonstrated a deft hand at manipulating the EU’s spineless nematodes—not much in the way of serious Evil Overlord credentials to speak of—Erdogan cannot hold a flickering candle to the House of Saud or Tehran’s mullahs when it comes to playing the long game.

This Ottoman neophyte has neither the resources oil nor self-destructive will to power (e.g., Iran’s nuclear weapons program) to reach the far-downstream finish line that his peninsular confreres have in their sights.

As in, the real showdown—as it always has been—will be the Sunni-Shiite gunfight. In this respect, Richard’s regular mention of the North Korea / Iran axis takes on special meaning. Always try to recall that famous passage from Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1980 speech at Qom:

“We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world.”

Essentially, this is a promise to convert the entire nation of Iran into one gigantic suicide bomber, as part of annihilating the Jews. Considering Mahmoud (“Wipe Israel off the Map”) Ahmadinejad’s acolyte role—sitting at the hem of Khomeini’s robe—and his recent effort to reenter Iranian politics … this should be a major source of concern.

Try to imagine the odd Saudi schadenfreude of simultaneously relishing Iran’s self-immolation—while ridding the Islamic world of its Zionist nemesis—even as Riyadh shivers at the prospect of a Shiite power gaining nuclear ascendancy. This is where “schism” and “schizoid” converge. Saudi Arabia is sitting back and saying to the mullahs, “Sure, let’s you and him (i.e., Israel) fight” even as Iran is going for all the marbles.

So, there you have it. Erdogan may as well be the Islamic whipping boy stalking horse, even as Saudi Arabia and Iran snigger at the invertebrate helplessness of most Western political “leadership”. After ingesting all of this, one last thought:

Islam barely has had even two millennia worth of experience at this “long game”.

The Chinese have been at it for around six thousand years.

As I have mentioned here before, look to how China deals with the Islamic threat for some serious cues (“Are those my cues?”) when it comes to meaningful indicators of what’s on the event horizon.

      • When you mention how China deals with Islam remember that China plays go while we are playing poker, in Obama’s case go fish and chess. China is capable of stirring up trouble between North Korea and the US so Iran can make trouble in the middle east and Europe. This would force the US to bounce between Korea and Europe with inadequate forces thus giving China a much freer hand in the South China Sea.

        Are they doing this?

Probably not but we can’t forget this possibility.

        • And while Sunni and Shiite hate each other they hate us more and will stop killing each other to kill us, Erdogan and Iran deciding to join together to take out Israel, the US and possibly Saudi since Saudi is opposing both Iran and Erdogan leading the new Caliphate. China is capable of trying to do all of the above, the question is are they? I doubt they are planning on setting back and letting the US win this round without finding some way to take a couple swipes at us, swipes that they can deny being behind.

Neutralizing Pyongyang’s nuclear, chemical arms warfighting priority, SOCOM commander says

U.S. special operations forces are set to conduct operations against North Korean nuclear, missile, and other weapons of mass destruction sites in any future conflict, the commander of Special Operations Command told Congress Tuesday.

Army Gen. Raymond A. Thomas stated in testimony to a House subcommittee that Army, Navy, and Air Force commandos are based both permanently and in rotations on the Korean peninsula in case conflict breaks out.

The special operations training and preparation is a warfighting priority, Thomas said in prepared testimony. There are currently around 8,000 special operations troops deployed in more than 80 countries.

“We are actively pursuing a training path to ensure readiness for the entire range of contingency operations in which [special operations forces], to include our exquisite [countering w

  10. China urges citizens in N. Korea to return home

The Chinese Embassy in North Korea has advised Korean-Chinese residents to return home amid concern that the North’s military provocations may trigger a U.S. attack on the North, according to a source.

The embassy began sending the message on Apr. 20, five days before the North celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Korean People’s Army with a show of military power, Radio Free Asia said Tuesday.

The U.S.-based station specializes in North Korea.

The station cited a Korean-Chinese living in the North’s capital, who said he left for China late last month after the embassy contacted him.

He said he has been visiting China every two to three months but, after being told he should “stay in China for a while,” left North Korea a month early.

“The embassy has never given such a warning. I was worried and left the country in a hurry,” said the man, whose name was withheld.

  11. US tests intercontinental ballistic missile from California

Washington (AFP) – The US Air Force test-launched an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile from California early Wednesday, the military said.

Air Force Global Strike Command spokesman Joe Thomas told AFP from California that the test was routine and not meant to be a show of force in the standoff with North Korea over its nuclear and ballistic missile program.

The Minuteman III missile blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 0702 GMT, the strike command said in a statement.

The missile traveled some 4,200 miles (6,700 km) and went down near a Pacific Ocean atoll that is part of the Marshall Islands and features a US military ballistic missile test site.

The Minuteman III, capable of being fitted with a nuclear warhead, is tested like this about four times a year, said Linda Frost, also a spokeswoman for the strike command.

  12. Brigitte Bardot: ‘You Can See Macron’s Lack of Empathy in His Cold, Steel Eyes

The French film icon Brigitte Bardot has urged her fellow countrymen not to vote for Emmanuel Macron in France’s presidential election on Sunday, saying you can see his lack of compassion in “the coldness of his steel eyes”.

The animal rights campaigner tweeted to her followers that they should not vote Macron, fearing the situation for animals would deteriorate under his presidency.

“The contempt he gives to animal suffering can be seen in the total lack of empathy reflected in the coldness of his steel eyes.

“Whilst the scandals are increasing, he takes the side of the animal breeders and the hunters against animal rights associations that are fighting with the lobbies that seem to have power over this candidate.”

One of the best-known sex symbols of the 1950s and 1960s, Bardot came out as a supporter of populist candidate Marine Le Pen at the beginning of the year. In a wide-ranging interview with Le Figaro that touched upon cultural issues, Ms. Bardot was asked what she thought of contemporary culture.

  13. Paradise lost: idyllic French villages turn to far right

Puget-Théniers (France) (AFP) – Halfway between mountains and the Mediterranean, the southern French village of Puget-Theniers is old, idyllic and a picture of the quiet rebellion under way in rural areas.

In the first round of France’s presidential election, residents here, an hour’s drive from the city of Nice, voted overwhelmingly to cast the country’s rulers to the wolves.

Thirty-seven percent of 1,300 ballots on April 23 were for far-right leader Marine Le Pen and another 18 percent for Communist-backed firebrand Jean-Luc Melenchon.

A collection of other “anti-system” candidates from Trotskyists to a man who believes the European Union is a CIA-backed conspiracy won another 10 percent.

“We’re fed up with our leaders favouring financial groups, insurance companies and bankers,” said Leo Vellutini, a 56-year-old having an afternoon drink with locals in the pretty square at the centre of the village.

He says the Le Pen vote has “spiced up our drinks together”. While not everyone agrees, no one at the table has anything good to say about France’s political leaders.

“They’ve screwed us over for 40 years,” gripes one retired man in his 70s wearing a cap and clutching a glass.

  14. China urges all sides in North Korea standoff to ‘stop irritating’ one another

BEIJING (Reuters) – China on Wednesday called on all parties in the Korean standoff to stay calm and “stop irritating each other” a day after North Korea said the United States was pushing the region to the brink of nuclear war.

The United States has urged China, reclusive North Korea’s lone major ally, to do more to rein in its neighbor’s nuclear and missile programs which have prompted an assertive response from the Trump administration, warning that the “era of strategic patience” is over.

The United States has sent a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to Korean waters and a pair of strategic U.S. bombers flew training drills with the South Korean and Japanese air forces in another show of strength this week.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, asked about the bomber flights, the drills and North Korea’s response, stressed that the situation was “highly complex” and sensitive.

“The urgent task is to lower temperatures and resume talks,” he told reporters.

“We again urge all relevant parties to remain calm and exercise restraint, stop irritating each other, work hard to create an atmosphere for contact and dialogue between all sides, and seek a return to the correct path of dialogue and negotiation as soon as possible.”

    http://www.oann.com/south-korea-says-u-s-reaffirms-it-will-pay-thaad-costs-joint-drills-wrap-up/

    • China urges all sides in North Korea standoff to ‘stop irritating’ one another

Fecking priceless! After decades of being the ex-officio financial nursemaid of North Korea—along with its rogue nuclear weapons program and proliferation thereof—suddenly China is innocently pleading for cooler heads to prevail.

      Who’s kidding flipping, fricking whom?

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, asked about the bomber flights, the drills and North Korea’s response, stressed that the situation was “highly complex” and sensitive.

This entire situation is “highly complex” and sensitive, only because Red China has spent DECADES ensuring that there would be no other possible outcome.

As I have maintained here for a while, the only reason Beijing is putting its oar in about this Sino-manufactured “crisis” all centers upon the fact that, for once in all time, China finally has something to lose.

For nearly its entire history, the only thing that China ever stood to lose was human capital. With its massive (and slightly educated) population, even subtracting a few million people was a gnat-fart on their demographic landscape.

SIDEBAR: In fact, it took the advent of Communism (quelle surprise!) to change that equation—as in how the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) set about “reeducatingmurdering the nation’s intelligentsia like no regime dynasty change, famine, or natural disaster could possibly hope to achieve.

Imagine the downstream effects of basing a coup d’etat upon obliterating a significant portion of your population’s highest IQs. This is the contrast between millions of disposable (peasant) bodies and treating the available pool of genuine talent as a dispensable commodity.

Back to North Korea … unlike all of his semi-sane antecedents predecessors, psycho-turd extraordinaire, Kim Jong-Un, has freely indicated that he is more than willing to immolate the entire Korean (i.e., North & South) Peninsula in nuclear plasma rather than relinquish his grasp upon the tattered reins of Dynastic Stalinist—take a moment to digest that oxymoron—power in the north.

Consider how (thanks almost exclusively to the mainland) that this pipsqueak nuclear-armed lunatic has managed to bend Beijing over the proverbial barrel. What other explanation is there for why Red China suddenly is expressing laughably “deep concern” over their own home-brewed problem?

It’s time to tell the Politburo’s Mandarins how they are responsible for ensuring that Fat Boy gets liquidated cum omni festinatione (i.e., ASAP).

As mentioned before, please recall where all of the radioactive fallout will drift from Seoul and Pyongyang. Who is willing to bet that this is not motivating Beijing (for once).

      [crickets]

  15. (Richard: Read the full article and think about what she is saying then think about what else is happening in the world. She says that she thinks that events will force the members of Congress to start writing bills on their own and working to get then passed. This is how Washington was suppose to work but the big government lobbyists have over the past 100 years or so changed to nothing is done unless the big government groups outside of government support the action. Now because President Trump won’t play that game the Congress critters have to learn new ways of doing things.)

Reviving ‘Original Washington’: The awesome possibility from the Deplorables Revolution
    By J.E. Dyer May 2, 2017

I wrote a couple of days ago about the structural gap that opened up in Washington, D.C. with the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Trump didn’t come into town plugged in to a political network: a fully integrated industry for ramming through major policy legislation in Congress. And although many Republicans on Capitol Hill have been plugged in to such a network (i.e., they could reactivate their live circuitry if it would make a difference), the network can’t operate to do hard things – like repeal Obamacare – if the president himself isn’t sitting at its apex.

For most legislation, the president just has to be accessible to the network. That’s typically through his aides, and probably some of his cabinet and agency heads. The president doesn’t have to be a creature of the network, as Obama basically was.

But for the really big things – again, like repealing Obamacare – it does take active participation by the president and his staff. He has to be able to wield the network, not just take questions from it at crucial waypoints.

I invite your attention once more to Ari Berman’s description, in a 2011 article for The Nation, of how the Obama White House ramrodded Obamacare in the final months before its passage. Obama’s team was pulling the strings on both of the key network groups: the activist organizations, and the industrial lobbying organizations. And Obama was ruthless with both of them. Obamacare could not have happened without a fully engaged White House, whip-cracking the network.

  16. (Richard: This is an important article, the information paints a new picture of what happened on the last NORK missile test. This is a worst case scenarios but it is still a realistic scenario.)

North Korea’s latest missile test may have been more than just another failure
By LU Staff May 2, 2017

There may be more to North Korea’s “failed” missile test than meets the eye.

U.S. Pacific Command reported that the ballistic missile, which has yet to be identified, “did not leave North Korean territory.” The weapon reportedly broke up over North Korea several minutes after launch, but it may not have been a botch.

Saturday’s missile failure may have been a deliberate explosion, South Korean government officials told the Korea Times. “We don’t believe the mid-air explosion was an accident,” South Korean cable news channel YTN quoted government officials as saying. “It’s believed the explosion was a test to develop a nuclear weapon different from existing ones.” The theory is that the North may have been testing a nuclear warhead.

That North Korea launched the missile across its territory from the west coast was a little unusual, leading some to suspect that perhaps the North intentionally kept the weapon from splashing down in the sea where a U.S. Navy carrier strike group is stationed.

The missile, which was fired from Pukchang Airfield in Pyeongannam-do, South Pyeongan Province, reached a maximum altitude of 44 miles, well above the stabilization altitude for medium- and long-range missiles. Military experts told the Korea Times that the odds an internal mechanical failure caused the explosion are “very low.”

  19. SPAIN – Moraira iman arrested for harbouring jihadists

AN EGYPTIAN man was arrested in Moraira on Wednesday accused of involvement with Islamic State and giving shelter in Spain to terrorists who had decided to leave Syria and Iraq.

The detainee, 46-year-old iman Abu Adam Hesam Shashaa, is well known in the local community and was considered a ‘moderate’ Islamist.

He came to the Costa Blanca from Munich, where he was the iman of a local mosque.

  20. The Death of Facts

    by Douglas Murray
    May 3, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10300/death-of-facts

Every week in America brings another spate of defeats for freedom of speech. This past week it was Ann Coulter’s turn (yet again) to be banned from speaking at Berkeley for what the university authorities purport to be “health and safety” reasons — meaning the health and safety of the speaker.

Each time this happens, there are similar responses. Those who broadly agree with the views of the speaker complain about the loss of one of the fundamental rights which the Founding Fathers bestowed on the American people. Those who may be on the same political side but find the speaker somewhat distasteful find a way to be slightly muted or silent. Those who disagree with the speaker’s views applaud the banning as an appropriate response to apparently imminent incitement.

The problem throughout all of this is that the reasons why people should be supporting freedom of speech (to correct themselves where they are in error, and strengthen their arguments where they are not) are actually becoming lost in America. No greater demonstration of this muddle exists than a letter put together by a group of students at Claremont McKenna College earlier this month to protest the appearance on their campus of a speaker with whom they disagreed.

Heather Mac Donald is a conservative author, journalist and fellow of the Manhattan Institute in New York. Her work has appeared in some of the world’s most prestigious journals. Of course, none of that was enough to deter students at Claremont from libelling her as much as possible in advance of her speech and then preventing her speech from taking place. At Clarem

  21. reuters -Uzbekistan says uncovering militants daily among returning migrants

Uzbekistan’s police routinely uncover militant Islamists among Uzbek migrants returning home and plan to expose those who remain abroad via social networks, Interior Minister Abdusalom Azizov said on Tuesday.

An Uzbek asylum seeker has been charged by a Swedish court over a deadly truck attack in Stockholm last month that put Uzbekistan, a largely Muslim Central Asian nation, in the global spotlight. Five people were killed in the attack.

“I will not hide the fact that almost every day we uncover people … who have returned (from abroad) and start spreading the Wahhabi ideology here,” Azizov told reporters, referring to the ultra-conservative strand of Islam that inspires some militant groups and is banned in Uzbekistan.

“There are many attempts (to spread it in Uzbekistan), but so far we are stopping them all,” he added.

Azizov said most Islamist suspects returning to Uzbekistan had been radicalized while living abroad, “in Russia, Turkey, other countries”.

Uzbekistan, which battled armed Islamists on its own soil in the 1990s, said last month it had tipped off a western nation before the Stockholm attack that Rakhmat Akilov, the suspected perpetrator, was an Islamic State recruit.

It did not say which nation it had contacted about Akilov.

Tashkent’s poor human rights track record under its late president Islam Karimov limited its security cooperation with the West. But Shavkat Mirziyoyev, elected president last year following Karimov’s death, has overseen the release of several political prisoners, winning praise from Washington.

“But in some countries, including Sweden, our (suspected radicals) are treated as refugees,” said Azizov.

He added that his ministry planned to publish a wanted list of Uzbek militants on social networks to help draw them to the attention of potential foreign employers and landlords.

Azizov did not say how many Uzbek nationals were returning home or how many of them were suspected militants.

  22. German spies targeting halal shops to root out islamists

Spies in the German state of Hesse are keeping close watch on shops which sell halal products in fear that they may be hotbeds of islamist, the head of the regional intelligence agency has said.

Robert Schafer told DPA that intelligence services are closely monitoring the ultra-conservative Salafist scene and this includes places that they may meet, like halal shops.

Salafism is an ultra-conservative reform movement within Sunni Islam, which was first developed in the Arabian Peninsula.

Schafer was quoted by The Local as saying: “In such cases, scene meeting points could emerge, which we would consider as possible radicalisation spaces.”

Oliver Bertrand, from the Frankfurt Research Center on Global Islam at Goethe University, also said he was not surprised by the news, as teenagers who go to these shops alone are often encouraged to join the Salafist scene.

Thomas Mucke, from the Violence Prevention Network said there is not proo to back up this theory, but the idea does fit in with what is already known about the Salafist scene.

He also added that those who own shops which sell halal products should be aware that their outlet could become a meeting place, and it can also happen in parks, gyms and football groups.

Intelligence services believe there are 4,150 people in Hesse who are Islamists, and 1,650 of these people are classified as Salafists.

France: What is the Presidential Campaign Really About?

    by Yves Mamou
    May 3, 2017 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10303/france-presidential-campaign

The French presidential race is the latest election to shake up establishment politics. The Parti Socialiste and Les Républicains, who have been calling the shots for the past forty years, were voted out of the race. The “remainers” are Emmanuel Macron, a clone of Canada’s Prime Minster Justin Trudeau; and Marine Le Pen, whom many believe will not win.

France is a fractured country. As in the US and the UK, the rift is not between the traditional left and right. Instead, it reflects divisions — cultural, social, and economic — that came with globalization and mass migration. A map released by the Ministry of the Interior after the first round of the presidential campaign illustrates the new political scenery.

Blue represents the parts of France where Le Pen heads the list; pink, the areas supporting Macron. The blue areas coincide with old industrial areas, deeply damaged by globalization and industrial relocation. Many blue-collar workers are on welfare; and the antagonism between Muslims and non-Muslims is high. People who voted for Le Pen seem to feel not only that they lost their jobs, but that they are becoming foreigners in their own country.

The areas in pink (Macron), represent the big cities and places where the better jobs are. It also represents the areas where the “upper classes can afford to raise invisible barriers between themselves and the ‘other’, immigrants or minorities,” explains Christophe Guilluy, geographer, and author of Le crépuscule de la France d’en haut (The Twilight of Elite France).

    Sara Dogan

The Berkeley administration has shown great hostility to speech critical of Hamas and SJP. When the Freedom Center previously placed posters on the Berkeley campus exposing the links between Hamas and SJP, Berkeley Associate Chancellor Nils Gilman labeled them “a tactic of harassment and intimidation.” Last night, the Freedom Center again placed posters critical of Hamas and SJP on the Berkeley campus. These posters disrupt the anti-Israel narrative that dominates on campus and serve as a challenge to the Berkeley administration to uphold its constitutional obligation to honor the First Amendment on campus.

University of California-Berkeley: Nils Gilman, Associate Chancellor

The University of California-Berkeley has a well-deserved reputation for stigmatizing ideas which don’t fit the extreme left-wing, anti-Israel campus culture. Berkeley Associate Chancellor Nils Gilman has epitomized this double-standard by failing to condemn outright calls for terrorism and genocide against the Jews from campus anti-Israel groups while denouncing posters putting forth factual information about Students for Justice in Palestine and its links to Hamas.

  25. FBI Found Classified Emails on Weiner’s Laptop
    May 3, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

Just in time for the next leg of Hillary’s Defeat tour, FBI Director James Comey showed up to face Dem outrage over announcing that the investigation of Hillary’s emails had to continue. His response was certainly… outrageous.

Comey said that his agents had uncovered thousands of new emails that it had not yet reviewed in its Clinton investigation, because they ended up on the laptop of disgraced ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner, the husband of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

‘She was using a Verizon Blackberry then and that’s obviously very important because if there was evidence that she was acting with bad intent that’s where it would be. So they came in and said we can see thousands of emails from the Clinton email domain. Including many, many, many from the Verizon Clinton Blackberry domain. They said we think we’ve got to get a search warrant to go get these. And the Department of Justice agreed. We had to go get a search warrant. So I agreed,’ he explained.

‘And the team also told me, we cannot finish this work before the election. And then they worked night after night after night and they found thousands of new emails, they found classified information on Anthony Weiner,’ Comey said.

    • Everyone, please remember that the sole reason for Hillary using private email servers was to specifically avoid any possibility of FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) disclosures.

This one simple fact should tell you all that you need to know. Between 0bama and Hillary, “lack of transparency” has taken on an entirely new meaning (none of which is good).

When 0bama promised America that his would be, “the most transparent administration in history”, (all irony intended) that should have been more than enough. Sadly, it wasn’t.

  26. DUBLIN -Rent row mayhem as violent stand-off erupts after home blaze

Bizarre daylight dispute erupts outside city home after fire

A bizarre rent row erupted into a violent argument outside a Dublin home, just hours after a suspicious fire at the property.

The daylight dispute spiralled out of control when a group of men living in the badly-damaged house confronted the owner and a group of people that came with him when he attempted to board up the property.

Gardai were at the scene on the South Circular Road at Rialto yesterday afternoon in the aftermath of the blaze that occurred at 3.30am on Sunday.

But after they left the scene the owner and his associates, one of whom was a woman, entered the house in an effort to secure it. This led to an immediate reaction from a group inside the house.

During the row, the owner of the house, his associates and the occupants were arguing in the front garden. Soon after, both sides were then trying to prevent the other side accessing the property.

The row escalated when at one stage, the occupants were bundled out of the property. They then grabbed large sections of timber from the garden, before running at the owner and his associates, which included the woman.

The men were seen lifting the large planks of wood above their heads, before swinging them at the owner. The owner was forced to retreat back into the doorway at one point, fearful he would be attacked.

Stripped to the waist, the occupants of the house were roaring and shouting at the owner.

At one point one of the men who was living in the house was seen standing face to face with an associate of the landlord, challenging him angrily to “do something” while holding two pieces of timber.

The situation calmed – but sparked off again when one of the occupants tried to get back into the charred entrance of the house.

Twice, the occupants squared up to the friends of the owner in the front garden and challenged them almost nose to nose.

Gardai were quickly called back to the tense scene in an effort to restore peace.
The woman who was with the house owner appeared to have been injured in the melee and an ambulance was called to the scene, but she had already left the area when it arrived.

After the owner changed the locks he was told by gardai to give the occupants a key.
The fire is believed to have started when a wheelie bin was placed at the front door and set alight. Two people were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

f you’re gay and don’t want to be thrown off a building, apparently you’re a “homonationalist”.

That’s according to the awkward AP write-up, which like all left-wing coverage of European Jews and gays working for right-wing parties, fails to meaningfully address why they’re doing it. Because when you bring an ideology into Europe that believes in killing Jews, gays and a whole range of other people, eventually its victims will react by supporting anyone willing to stop the Jihadimmigration train.

Political and racial tensions in post-apartheid South Africa have become so great that the minority white population is now at risk of being murdered on a mass scale, says civil defense expert Simon Roche.
Roche heads the HQ of Suidlanders, the world’s largest non-state civil defense organization located in South Africa, which represents and seeks to protect the country’s minority Christian white population in the event of an ethnic civil war.
Roche told Infowars that leftist South African leaders have in recent months threatened “the slaughter of all whites, and the removal of all whites within five years,” prompting Suidlanders to prepare for a surprise civil war event which they now believe is imminent.
“Then we would, in such an open civil war, in such a crisis, gather our people together and seek sanctuary in a remote location and then to remove ourselves from being wiped out or slaughtered,” Roche said.

  29. Hillary Clinton‘s deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, is back in the news. Actually, she is only in the news now because of two of her family members, who have been indicted by a federal grand jury for conspiracy, wire fraud, and securities fraud.

The indictments against two of her first cousins, Omar Amanat and Irfan Amanat, were made available via the Justice Department’s website. To view Omar’s indictment, click here. To view Irfan’s indictment, click here.

Abedin, Clinton and the State Department were mentioned in the indictments.

According to one of the allegations, the men encouraged Abedin to get help from the State Department. As a result, they received $1.2 million in federal grants.

    http://www.dcclothesline.com/2017/05/03/huma-abedins-family-members-indicted-by-federal-grand-jury/

    • HOW BIG WAS INFLUENCE OF HUMA ABEDIN’S FAMILY?

‘It’s so egregious how they think they can just get away with abusing the system’

A prominent Washington watchdog group has filed a request with the U.S. State Department for copies of all communications between former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and members of her family now under federal indictment as part of an investigation into what it suspects is a major “influence-peddling” operation.

As deputy chief of staff for former Secretary of State Clinton, Abedin agreed to arrange State Department meetings with business partners of her first cousin, who is now under federal indictment for fraud. The partners scored at least $1.3 million in federal grant money, as WND first reported last week.

“Influence-peddling is putting it nicely,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said, adding that the deal “warrants further investigation.”

Records show that Abedin’s first cousin, Omar Amanat, is under federal indictment for cheating investors in Kit Digital Inc. of millions of dollars between 2009 and 2012, forcing the tech start-up to go bankrupt in 2013. He has been placed under house arrest as he awaits trial, which is scheduled for Oct. 2.

Another Abedin cousin, Irfan Amanat, is under indictment in the same case. He was arrested in December after returning to the U.S. from the United Arab Emirates.

Kit Digital appears in State Department emails sent to Abedin from Amanat and a business partner. In June 2009, not long after starting Kit Digital and just months after his cousin was named deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Clinton, Amanat helped his business partner solicit Abedin for State favors on behalf of Soliya Inc., which was in partnership with Kit Digital. Summit Entertainment, a film company Amanat held a controlling stake in at the time, also stood to benefit.

“Thanks for getting in touch. Would love to arrange a meeting,” Abedin replied in a June 23, 2009, email to Amanat and Shamil Idriss, who heads New York-based Soliya Inc.

In May 2010, Clinton helped Soliya get access to U.N. funding by making the U.S. a participant in a U.N. high-tech media initiative called the Alliance of Civilizations. Then in October 2010, the State Department directly awarded Soliya $1.25 million for a media technology project.

“Huma helped Omar make KIT appear more valuable because of its association with the Alliance of Civilizations, which was approved by Hillary and funded in part by US grants,” said an attorney familiar with the case. “This helped Omar raise money for KIT, which he and his brother misappropriated for other purposes. Approximately $6 million has vanished.”

Amanat took KIT Digital public in August 2009.

At the time, Amanat, known as a “serial swindler,” was in personal bankruptcy and being sued by other investors. Despite his reputation, he still managed to gain special access to the government thanks to his ties to his well-placed cousin and the Clinton Foundation.

Records show that Amanat and several other family members and related charities have together donated as much as $1.2 million to the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative, as well as the Clinton Health Access Initiative.

Amanat, who personally contributed as much as $25,000 to the Clinton Foundation, was appointed to the Council on Foreign Relations during the time that Hillary Clinton was serving as secretary of state.

Idriss is an Egyptian activist, who according to IRS 990s recently filed by Soliya, keeps an office in Cairo, which is the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood, a worldwide jihadist movement. Abedin, as well as her mother and father, have been members of organizations identified by the U.S. Justice Department as fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood.

The federal funds received by Soliya were intended to, among other things, produce media content to combat “Islamophobia.”

A Judicial Watch investigator who filed the Freedom of Information Act request with the State Department for all emails and other documents related to Abedin and the Amanat, as well as Idriss, alleged that the trio were “blatantly involved in a pay-for-play scheme.”

“It’s so egregious how they think they can just get away with abusing the system – and not just the Clintons, but also Abedin and her own crime family,” he said in an interview.

Attempts to reach Abedin for comment were unsuccessful. Amanat’s lawyer did not respond to requests for comment.

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. – The organist at a Brown County church is accused of vandalizing the church in order to “mobilize a movement” after he was disappointed by the election results.

After an extensive six-month investigation, George Nathaniel Stang, 26, of Bloomington, is charged with institutional criminal mischief in connection with the vandalism that occurred at St. David’s Episcopal Church last year.

The investigation began on November 13, 2016 when Reverend Kelsey Hutto called police to report that the phrase “HEIL TRUMP” was painted on the north wall of the building, and a swastika and gay slur were on the west side.

She said she found out about the graffiti from Stang who is the organist at the church.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Stang’s detailed phone records and determined he was in the area of the church from 10:38 p.m. and 10:44 p.m. on the night the vandalism occurred.

It follows a counter-terror operation on Thursday in which a 21-year-old woman was shot at a house in Willesden.
The three arrested women are in custody outside London, police said.
They were arrested after counter-terrorism officers from the Metropolitan Police Force carried out warrants at three addresses in east London.
The Met said the arrests were made as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation in connection with an address on Harlesden Road, Willesden, which was raided on Thursday.

  33. IRELAND – Bored, military-aged, Syrian men in Ballaghaderreen miss the families they abandoned

    • Why did these young “men” abandon their own families?!?

Could it be that they have a “higher calling” which might involve the slaughter of Infidels?

Admitting men (of any age) who are without wives or children seems to be suicide.

Not that such a thing means much to the EU.

A Democratic New York City councilman on Monday defended a liberal, anti-Israel activist for associating with a convicted Palestinian terrorist, arguing the terrorist in question was fighting for “freedom.”

Jumaane Williams, who represents New York City’s 45th district in Brooklyn, appeared Monday on Fox News to defend the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Public Health’s decision to invite anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour to give its 2017 commencement address next month. Critics accuse Sarsour of using rhetoric that borders on anti-Semitism and glorifies violence against Israelis.

  39. Maldives police arrest 2 suspects in blogger’s murder (abcnews, May 3, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/maldives-police-arrest-suspects-bloggers-murder-47179752

“Maldives police said Wednesday they have arrested two suspects in the murder of a prominent blogger and human rights advocate.

Yameen Rasheed died last week after being found with multiple stab wounds in a house in the capital, Male.

Police said in a statement that they are confident that the investigation into the case “can be concluded successfully in the coming days.”

Rasheed had criticized politicians and rising radical Islamic views in Maldives. He also spoke out on issues such as health, migrant workers’ rights and policing. He was actively involved in seeking justice for his friend and journalist Ahmed Rilwan, who remains unaccounted for since being abducted about three years ago.

Rasheed’s family said last week that he had received death threats for months from local gangs who appeared to hold radical religious views.

Maldives is a predominantly Sunni Muslim state where practicing other faiths and atheism are banned.

There has been rising radicalism in recent years. President Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s government has also curbed freedom of speech and assembly, with heavy fines imposed on journalists and social media users who are found guilty of defamation.

The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party called last week for an investigation with foreign assistance into Rasheed’s death, saying the country’s police do not have the capacity or impartiality to conduct a full and fair investigation. It said Rasheed had recently filed a case against police over their inaction in determining Rilwan’s fate.”

  40. A desperate plea for help as 4 African nations near a famine crisis (abcnews, May 3, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/desperate-plea-african-nations-famine-crisis/story?id=47163415

“The U.N. refugee agency is issuing an urgent warning: The risk of mass deaths from starvation in the Horn of Africa is growing, making the humanitarian crisis inevitable.

ABC News anchor David Muir and his team traveled with Carolyn Miles, the CEO of Save the Children, as the organization sent mobile clinics to isolated villages deep in the deserts of Somaliland.

There they found a little boy, so weak he could not stand. A band was placed on his arm to measure his level of malnutrition. His result was in the red, signaling severe acute malnutrition.

“It’s one of the worst crises that we’ve seen since World War II,” Miles said. “I don’t think the world has really woken up to this disaster at this point. They haven’t realized what’s happening — the possibility of four famines at once.”

Those nations on the brink of famine — South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen and Nigeria — mean that 20 million people are at risk of starvation. Nearly 10 million of which are children. Aid workers fear that President Trump’s urging of Congress to cut foreign aid could have a chilling effect worldwide…”

“Bodyguards for Somalia’s auditor general shot dead a government minister near the presidential palace on Wednesday evening, police said.

Capt. Mohamed Hussein said bodyguards escorting Nur Farah opened fire on a car carrying Abbas Abdullahi, the public works and reconstruction minister, near a checkpoint close to the palace.

It is not immediately clear what prompted the shooting. Security concerns are high in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, as the al-Shabab extremist group continues to target the palace, military facilities and hotels with suicide car bombings and other attacks.

The car carrying the minister approached and trailed the car carrying the auditor general, promoting his bodyguards to open fire, Hussein said. The minister’s bodyguards fired back.

Another minister who was in the car with the deceased minister survived, Hussein said…”
