Should Schiff recuse himself from Russia investigation?
Yes, he has proven that he is a partisan Democrat doing all he can to prevent any investigation into anything that hurts Democrats and trying to get charges with no evidence to back them up accepted as fact. He is the one that should be investigated on ethics charges.
Canada: The Niqab Enters the Nursery
Last week at the downtown YMCA pre-school in Toronto, Canada, reporters observed a childcare worker covered head to toe in black cloth, with only her hands showing and eyeglasses poking through an eye slit.
The federal minister of families, children and social development, Jean-Yves Duclos, arrived to give a news conference on childcare policy but first sat down to play with preschool children for the cameras. The worker in the niqab sat at a second table with other children and did not interact with the minister. The children and minders then cleared the room for the briefing.
Asked afterward when the YMCA started hiring women in niqabs, senior vice-president for child and family development Linda Cottes said the “Y” has never excluded women wearing the niqab. Asked again when such hiring started, she said only, “We are inclusive.”
Nursery school teachers are welcome to wear the full-face Islamic veil, or niqab, at the Young Men’s Christian Association of Greater Toronto, says Egyptian-born president and CEO Medhat Mahdy.
“A woman is allowed to wear the niqab if she chooses,” he says in a written statement released this week through his spokesperson. “We also perform stringent background checks for all our employees, student placements, and volunteers.”
Spokesperson Antoine Tedesco later clarified that the woman in the niqab was a student placement worker, not an employee. He declined all other questions, among them: How many staff members wear the niqab, and what is Medhat Mahdy’s religious background?
“People [at the “Y”] are free to dress and express themselves as they see fit,” he said on Mahdy’s behalf, “as long as it does not threaten or infringe on the rights of others.”
Speaking for the Ontario Ministry of Education, Heather Irwin similarly said teachers and students are free to wear the niqab in all the province’s daycare centers and all publicly-funded educational institutions.
The endorsements are part of a Canadian trend.
Elsewhere in the world, including some Muslim-majority countries, leaders view the niqab as a symbol of female oppression and a flag of Islamic extremism. In Britain, Holland, France, Germany, Denmark, the Philippines, China, Turkey, Syria, Tunisia and Egypt — Mahdy’s native country — lawmakers have passed full or partial niqab bans in schools and elsewhere, or are preparing legislation to do so.
In Canada, however, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau goes out of his way to support the niqab.
“We need societies that recognize diversity as a source of strength,” he told the World Economic Forum last year in Davos, Switzerland.
In one of his first acts as prime minister, Trudeau allowed Pakistani immigrant Zunera Ishaq to wear a niqab while taking her Canadian citizenship oath, after the outgoing Conservative government stopped her. Ishaq works as a women’s coordinator for the Islamist group, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and has expressed support for the Pakistani Muslim Brotherhood, the Jamaat e-Islami.
Increasingly, Canadian politicians are also moving to silence all forms of public criticism of Islam.
Last month, Trudeau’s Liberal government led a parliamentary motion to condemn religious discrimination and “Islamophobia.” Introducing the motion was Toronto-area Member of Parliament Iqra Khalid, a Pakistani immigrant and former president of the York University Muslim Students Association, an Islamist group.
When opposition Conservatives asked her to remove the term “Islamophobia” or explicitly condemn anti-Jewish and anti-Christian bigotry as well, she refused. Similarly, she refused to define “Islamophobia.”
Two months ago, the Ontario provincial legislature also passed an “anti-Islamophobia” motion with unanimous all-party support.
The result is a national chill. No politician or civic leader now dares challenge the niqab or burka.
Ironically, Canada marks the 100th anniversary this week of the First World War Battle of Vimy Ridge, said to have forged Canada’s sense of nationhood. At a cost of 10,000 casualties, including 3,600 dead, all four divisions of the Canadian Corps of the British army fought victoriously to take the hill from the Germans in northern France, inch by pitiless inch.
Today, Canadian political and civic leaders figuratively cede ground, bit by willing bit, to symbols of Islamist tyranny.

Canada again… I’ll leave out some direct location info but a church nearby took up an Easter dinner invite with the Muslim community. EASTER Monday. $30 tickets.
“I would like to invite your church to enjoy dinner with members of the Muslim community on Easter Monday, April 17 2017. It will be an unforgettable experience of dialogue and inspiration.
This will be an unprecedented opportunity for our respective congregations to build bridges of peace and tolerance by sharing personal journeys and learning about the journeys and values of each other. Proceeds will support mobile medical units for the Rohinga people in Myanmar.”

Germany: 20 probed on suspicion of spying for Turkey (abcnews, Apr 6, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/germany-20-probed-suspicion-spying-turkey-46617318
“Germany’s Interior Ministry says prosecutors are investigating 20 people suspected of spying for Turkey on people in Germany thought to be supporters of U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.
The Turkish government claims Gulen supporters were behind a July coup attempt, which Gulen denies.
In a reply to a query in Parliament from the Left party, provided Thursday to The Associated Press, the Ministry said federal prosecutors are investigating 16 known suspects and four others. It wouldn’t reveal how many were still in the country, citing the ongoing investigations.
Germany in February raided homes of four Islamic clerics affiliated with the union of Turkish-Islamic cultural organizations in Germany, or DITIB, suspected of spying on Turkish government opponents.
The Ministry says Turkey has been steadily increasing the number of clerics sent to DITIB.”
Syrian activists: Islamic State group kills 33 men in Syria (abcnews, Apr 6, 2017)

“Syrian activists say the Islamic State group has killed 33 young men in eastern Syria, close to the border with Iraq.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says IS members slit the throats of the men, aged between 18 and 25, near the town of Mayadeen in Deir el-Zour province on Wednesday.
The group says it’s not clear who the men were and whether they were Syrian troops or rebels.
Opposition activist Omar Abu Laila, who is from Deir el-Zour but currently lives in Europe, also reported the killing.
IS has carried out similar killings in Syria this year. When it controlled the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, IS carried out public beheadings, including of the antiquities chief whose body was hung from a pole in a main square.”
French soldier killed in operation on extremists in Mali (abcnews, Apr 6, 2017)

“A French soldier has been killed in a clash with extremists in Mali, as part of a French military operation aimed at fighting radicals across a swath of Africa.
French President Francois Hollande’s office said in a statement Thursday the soldier was killed overnight “after a clash with terrorists” in southwestern Mali. Hollande’s office and the French military did not provide further details.
Hollande reiterated France’s support for Mali and the U.N. force keeping the peace there.
Three Malian soldiers were killed in an attack on a military post last week in an area of northern Mali frequented by drug traffickers and jihadist groups.
A French-led intervention drove out Islamic extremists from strongholds in northern Mali in 2013 but sporadic attacks continue.”

“Police in southern Russian have hunted down and killed four suspects following the killing of two police officers.
The Investigative Committee said the National Guard in the city of Astrakhan found the suspects, who refused to surrender and fired back at officers. In the ensuing gunbattle early Thursday, all four gunmen were killed and three National Guard officers were wounded.
The shoot-out followed Tuesday’s attack, in which two of the suspects shot two traffic police officers dead at point-blank range and seized their weapons.
On Monday, a suicide bombing on St. Petersburg’s subway killed 13 plus the bomber and wounded more than 50. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack, but Russian trains and planes have been frequent targets of attacks, usually blamed on Islamic militants.”
Afghanistan dangles lithium wealth to win Trump support (abcnews, Apr 6, 2017)

“The Afghan government is trying to grab the attention of President Donald Trump and gain greater U.S. support by dangling its massive and untouched wealth of minerals, including lithium, the silvery metal used in mobile phone and computer batteries that is considered essential to modern life.
But tapping into that wealth, which also includes coal, copper, rare earths and far more that estimates say could be worth from $1 trillion to $3 trillion, is likely a long way off.
Security has worsened in Afghanistan the past year, with Taliban insurgents seizing territory and inflicting increasing casualties on Afghan forces. The regions with the greatest lithium deposits, for example, are currently too dangerous to enter.
So far, Trump’s policy on Afghanistan remains unknown…”
This is called a cost benefit analysis, if the goods cost so much you can’t make a profit why go for them? By the time technology increases to where we can safely mine Afghanistan it will have advanced to where mining asteroids for minerals at a cheaper cost.
Lives in Africa and Yemen being saved after UK public gives tens of millions (theguardian, Apr 6, 2017)

“Crisis appeals have now reached £72m, allowing aid agencies to scale up their response in Yemen and South Sudan to millions of people on the brink of starvation.
It means money from the British public is already saving lives, said Saleh Saeed, chief executive of the Disasters Emergency Committee.
He said that the £50m raised for east Africa will help provide 7 million people across the region with food, water and medical care over two years.
More assistance is already getting through to those who need it, despite major challenges. Cranes in the port of Hodeida have been destroyed in the Yemen conflict, while fighting in South Sudan, and in areas of Somalia controlled by terror groups, has also blocked access.
“Our organisations were working in east Africa before we launched our appeal,” said Saeed, “It has already allowed them to scale up their operations. We will be able to reach 7 million people.”
Famine has already been declared in parts of South Sudan, with people facing starvation in Somalia, parts of north-east Nigeria and Yemen. Roughly 20 million people are affected.
International donors have also pledged $6bn (£5.1bn) for Syria and refugees in the Middle East, at an aid conference in Brussels that was overshadowed by chemical attacks that left scores of people dead.
Christos Stylianides, the EU commissioner for humanitarian aid, announced $6bn funding in a tweet at the end of the conference. “The world tells the Syrian people: you’re not alone!”
He later added: “We have the moral duty to respond to the enormous humanitarian needs – needs which will unfortunately continue for some time to come.”
The DEC, which consists of the UK’s leading charities, is directing its efforts in east Africa to where need is greatest, with South Sudan and Somalia, as well as the self-declared autonomous states of Puntland and Somaliland, its current focus…”

Libya coastguard clashes with suspected smugglers, four killed:spokesman (reuters, Apr 6, 2017)

“Four suspected migrant smugglers were killed in an exchange of fire with coastguards off Libya’s western coast on Thursday, coastguard spokesman Ayoub Qasem said.
Qasem said a German journalist travelling in the coastguard boat was also injured in the clash, which he said had started when the coastguards tried to apprehend heavily armed gunmen guarding a migrant boat.
Two of the suspected smugglers were arrested and one was missing, Qasem said.”
Why don’t they simply apprehend and interrogate anyone who shows up on Libya’s western coast with an empty boat who doesn’t have a fishing license or freight permit. Those with such papers had best have tackle, nets, and appropriate gear onboard. Otherwise, they get their clock cleaned.
Sadly, we all know that Libya adores the idea of flooding Europe with Muslims, regardless of whatever crap they spew for public consumption.

“Yemeni forces backing the internationally-recognised government are preparing for an assault on a key port town held by Houthi rebels.
Fighters aligned to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the government’s Arab allies are building up around Hodeidah, despite UN urged for a de-escalation in tensions around the town.
Two brigades of armour are positioned for the assault, which could see pro-government forces move further up the coast after recent victories in other ports such as Mokka.
“The continued military escalation in Yemen, specifically the militarisation of large regions on its Western Coast and the associated increase of humanitarian access obstacles and population movement restrictions, are of grave concern to the humanitarian community,” the Office of the Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen said, according to Reuters.
“This is only resulting in more displacement, more institutional collapse, and more suffering.”…”

Duterte orders Philippine troops to South China Sea reefs
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday he has ordered troops to deploy on unoccupied South China Sea islands, boosting the military presence on remote reefs claimed by Manila in a move that could provoke rival claimants including Beijing.
“It looks like everybody is making a grab for the islands there, so we better live on those that are still vacant,” he told reporters during a televised visit to a military camp on the western island of Palawan, near the disputed Spratly group.
China asserts sovereignty over almost all of the resource-rich South China Sea despite rival claims from Southeast Asian neighbours and has rapidly built reefs into artificial islands capable of hosting military planes.
Duterte has previously sought to improve his nation’s relations with Beijing by adopting a non-confrontational approach over their competing claims in the strategically vital waters.
But the president appeared to alter his tone with his announcement Thursday, saying it was time to “erect structures there and raise the Philippine flag”.
“I have ordered the armed forces to occupy all,” Duterte said.
“At least, let us get what is ours now and make a strong point there that it is ours,” he said, adding Manila was claiming “nine or 10” Spratly islands, reefs and cays.

Is North Korea putting a nuclear-tipped bargaining chip on the table?
SEOUL (Reuters) – As the leaders of China and the United States sit down for a summit on Thursday, North Korea has made sure it also has something on the negotiating table: A nuclear-tipped bargaining chip.
North Korea launched a projectile on Wednesday, which U.S. officials said appeared to be a liquid-fueled, extended-range Scud missile that only traveled a fraction of its range before spinning out of control and crashing into the sea.
The launch was North Korea’s latest in a long series of missile and nuclear tests that have accelerated in their variation and intensity over the last two years.
And now, experts agree, North Korea is closing in on the ability to hit the United States with a missile, a goal that for decades has been the subject of Pyongyang’s vivid propaganda posters.
“They’ve been able to put a nuke on a missile for a while now,” said Jeffrey Lewis of the California-based Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
“The stated purpose of the last test was to validate the nuclear weapon design that would arm all of North Korea’s missiles,” Lewis said of North Korea’s September 2016 nuclear test – its fifth and largest to date.

ISIS slaughters 33 young men in Syria with ‘sharp tools’
slamic State killers used “sharp tools” to murder 33 people in Syria on Wednesday before dumping the bodies into a mass grave “filled with blood,” a human rights group said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the slaughter was “the largest execution operation carried out by [ISIS] in 2017.”
The identities of the dead – men ages 18-25 – were not immediately known, and it was unclear if they were civilians or captured soldiers. “Marks of slaughter” appeared on the victims’ necks, the activists said.
It was just the latest horror to unfold in Syria this week. International outrage is growing over the harrowing gas attack on the town of Khan Sheikhoun in northern Syria, which killed at least 86 people.
The ISIS killings unfolded near the town of Mayadeen in Deir el-Zour province, close to the Syrian border with Iraq. Opposition activist Omar Abu Laila, who is from Deir el-Zour but currently lives in Europe, also reported the murders.

Ben Carson discovers massive mismanagement and fraud in Obama’s HUD
By Onan Coca April 5, 2017
Remember this from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer regarding Dr. Ben Carson’s confirmation as the next HUD secretary?
I have serious concerns about Dr. Carson’s lack of expertise and experience in dealing with housing issues. Someone who is as anti-government as him is a strange fit for Housing secretary, to say the least.
Or the comment by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi ?
10%
(D-Calif.) in which she dismissed Carson a “disconcerting and disturbingly unqualified choice.”
Or this critique by Sen. Sherrod Brown ?
11%
(D-Ohio), the top Democrat on the Senate’s Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee: The country “cannot afford a HUD Secretary whose spokesperson said he doesn’t believe he’s up for the job.”
These are just a few of the love songs Democrats sang publicly when Dr. Carson was being confirmed. Just about every who spoke criticized, belittled, or demeaned him and President Trump for choosing him.

Democrats urge schoolteachers to burn book written by ‘climate deniers’
By LU Staff April 5, 2017
Three senior House Democrats asked U.S. teachers Monday to destroy a book written by climate scientists challenging the environmentalist view of global warming.
The Democrats were responding to a campaign by the conservative Heartland Institute copies of the 2015 book, “Why Climate Scientists Disagree About Global Warming” to about 200,000 science teachers. Democratic Reps. Bobby Scott of the Committee on Education, Raúl M. Grijalva of the Committee on Natural Resources, and Eddie Bernice Johnson of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology all issued a statement telling teachers to trash the book.
“Public school classrooms are no place for anti-science propaganda,” Scott said, seemingly clueless that that argument could just as easily be made against global warmists. Scott continued:

the daily caller -Devin Nunes Steps Aside; Ethics Committee Investigating for Spilling Secrets
The Republican has stepped aside from the House’s investigation into Russia and Trump, and is now officially under an ethics investigation for allegedly disclosing classified intelligence
Rep. Devin Nunes said Thursday he is stepping aside from the Russia investigation by the House intelligence committee because he is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for allegedly disclosing intelligence without proper authorization.
“The charges are entirely false and politically motivated, and are being leveled just as the American people are beginning to learn the truth about the improper unmasking of the identities of U.S. citizens and other abuses of power,” Nunes said in a statement, adding that the allegations against him are “baseless.”
Nunes said in a hastily arranged press conference last month he had come into possession of classified information showing Trump transition team members were “incidentally collected” by U.S. intelligence agencies during their surveillance of foreign targets and improperly “unmasked.” Nunes made his claim following a late-night trip to the White House where he reportedly met with senior administration officials who played a role in giving him classified information. (Nunes maintains they were not his original source.)
Rep. Mike Conaway, a Republican, will take Nunes’s position as chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as the Ethics Committee begins its probe.
The Ethics Committee is truly bipartisan, with an equal number of Democrats and Republicans. The 18(a) investigation, as its known, has subpoena power and may also look into what Nunes told Speaker Paul Ryan and President Donald Trump when he briefed them following his March 22 press conference.
“The committee notes that the mere fact that it is investigating these allegations, and publicly disclosing its review, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee,” it said in a statement.
Nunes had not briefed Rep. Adam Schiff, his Democratic counterpart on the committee, before running to Ryan and Trump. That decision blew up an already strained committee, leading to recriminations from Democrats that Nunes was acting like a presidential pawn. The committee’s downward spiral led to suspended hearings on the Russia probe, putting the onus on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Schiff said Thursday morning Nunes’s decision was in the “best interests of the investigation. I think it will allow us to have a fresh start for moving forward.” The top Democrat on the committee said he looks forward to working with Rep. Conaway.
Speaker Ryan also said Nunes was right to step aside because it would be a “distraction” for the investigation into Russia’s interference in the election and possible collusion with Trump’s team. Ryan earlier expressed support for Nunes.
“He continues to have that trust, and I know he is eager to demonstrate to the Ethics Committee that he has followed all proper guidelines and laws,” Ryan said in a statement. “In the meantime, it is clear that this process would be a distraction for the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in our election. Chairman Nunes has offered to step aside as the lead Republican on this probe, and I fully support this decision.”

Nunes steps aside from Russia probe
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) will temporarily step aside from an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, including interactions between Moscow and the Trump campaign.
The move comes as the House Ethics Committee announced that it is investigating allegations that Nunes may have mishandled classified information. With the Ethics Committee now formally involved in the dispute, Nunes could no longer oversee the Russia probe, although he will remain in place as chairman of the Intelligence Committee.
The Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation will be taken over by Reps. Michael Conaway (R-Texas), Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Tom Rooney (R-Fla.).
In a statement, Nunes blamed complaints filed with the Office of Congressional Ethics over his decision to brief President Donald Trump on intelligence intercepts of conversations between Trump campaign aide and Russian officials during the election.
“Several left-wing activist groups have filed accusations against me with the Office of Congressional Ethics,” Nunes said in a statement Thursday. “The charges are entirely false and politically motivated, and are being leveled just as the American people are beginning to learn the truth about the improper unmasking of the identities of U.S. citizens and other abuses of power.”
Nunes added: “Despite the baselessness of the charges, I believe it is in the best interests of the House Intelligence Committee and the Congress for me to have Representative Mike Conaway, with assistance from Representatives Trey Gowdy and Tom Rooney, temporarily take charge of the Committee’s Russia investigation while the House Ethics Committee looks into this matter. I will continue to fulfill all my other responsibilities as Committee Chairman, and I am requesting to speak to the Ethics Committee at the earliest possible opportunity in order to expedite the dismissal of these false claims.”
However, Ethics Committee Chairwoman Susan Brooks (R-Ind.) and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), the ranking member on Ethics, said Nunes is under scrutiny by their panel.
“The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Devin Nunes may have made unauthorized disclosures of classified information, in violation of House Rules, law, regulations, or other standards of conduct,” Brooks and Deutch said in joint statement. “The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), is investigating and gathering more information regarding these allegations.”
Brooks and Deutch are using the Ethics Committee’s authority to review any issue that has to to do with the integrity of the House, but they have not set up a special subcommittee to handle the matter and are under no requirement to issue any findings related to their investigation.
Rep. Adam Schiff, the intelligence panel’s top Democrat, said he believes Nunes’ decision will allow the committee to have a “fresh start” on its Russia probe.
“I just want to express my appreciation for what the chairman has decided to do. I’m sure it was a very difficult decision for him,” the California Democrat told reporters. “We need to get fully back on track.”
Schiff added that he would continue working with Nunes “on a whole range of other issues that our committee has to do with.”
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said in a statement that Nunes “continues to have [my] trust, and I know he is eager to demonstrate to the Ethics Committee that he has followed all proper guidelines and laws. In the meantime, it is clear that this [ethics] process would be a distraction for the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in our election.”

Peter King of New York, a member of the House Intelligence committee said. “Sort of like in a divorce case where lawyers are hired, investigators are hired just to find out what the other person is doing from morning until night and then you try to piece it together later on.”
On the House Intelligence Committee, only the Republican chairman, Devin Nunes of California, and the ranking Democrat Adam Schiff, also of California, have personally reviewed the intelligence reports. Some members were given broad outlines.
Nunes has consistently stated that the files caused him deep concern because the unmasking went beyond the former national security adviser Mike Flynn, and the information was not related to Moscow.
Schiff said in a statement, “I cannot comment on the content of these materials or any other classified documents, and nothing should be inferred from the fact that I am treating classified materials the way they should be treated – by refusing to comment on them. Only the Administration has the power to declassify the information and make it available to the public.”
Former National Security Adviser Rice is under scrutiny after allegations she sought to unmask the identities of Trump associates caught up in surveillance – such as phone calls between foreign intelligence targets. Rice denies ever having sought such information for political purposes and has defended her requests as routine.
But the most recent government data shows that unmasking or identifying Americans happens in a limited number of cases. The Office for the Director of National Intelligence, which oversees the 17 intelligence agencies, said “…in 2015, NSA disseminated 4,290 FAA Section 702 intelligence reports that included U.S. person information. Of those 4,290 reports, the U.S. person information was masked in 3,168 reports and unmasked in 1,122 reports.”
The report said “NSA is allowed to unmask the identity for the specific requesting recipient only under certain conditions and where specific additional controls are in place” and those conditions were met for “654 U.S. person identities” in 2015.
That means Americans were identified in 26 percent of the cases, or roughly one in four intelligence reports.
During his March 20 testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers said only 20 individuals within the agency are authorized to approve those requests.
“They receive specific training, there are specific controls put in place in terms of our ability to disseminate information out of the databases associated with U.S. persons,” Rogers said at the time. What it appears to suggest is that the NSA itself agreed that the instances in which Rice requested unmasking warranted that action.
FBI Director James Comey was less direct. “I don’t know for sure. As I sit here, surely more, given the nature of the FBI’s work,” he testified.
“It would be nice to know the universe of people who have the power to unmask a U.S. citizen’s name,” South Carolina Republican congressman Trey Gowdy pressed. “Because that might provide something of a roadmap to investigate who might’ve actually disseminated a masked U.S. citizen’s name.”
Rice told NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell that the reports were requested by the Obama administration, which announced a probe into the Russian election hacking in early December. Two months earlier in October, before the election, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Homeland Security Department put out a joint statement about Moscow’s interference.
Rice told Mitchell, “Fulfilling the president’s request for such a report, they went back and scrubbed more reports. They began to provide more such reports to American officials, including myself.”
Given the late fall timeline, it is not clear the intelligence reports Rice discussed during the NBC interview, are the same files reviewed by Nunes and Schiff.
Speaking to Fox News Wednesday, President Trump said he believed the former national security adviser may have committed a crime when she sought the identities of the Trump team members. The allegation was first reported by the New York Times.
While not commenting on the individual case, a former senior intelligence official explained the request must be approved by the NSA. Rice would have understood that there is an extensive government paper trail, that can be audited within the NSA, that shows who requested the unmasking, on what basis, and whether it was granted. This raises more questions about Rice, her motivation and whether it was authorized higher up, offering cover.
If approved, the former senior intelligence official said, only the requester, in this case Rice, would receive the information. Based on Fox News’ reporting, the information was shared beyond Rice, but it is not clear if those who received it had a “need to know.”
A spokeswoman for Rice, Erin Pelton, said in an email to the New York Times on Wednesday, “I’m not going to dignify the president’s ludicrous charge with a comment.” Pelton works for Mercury LLC, a crisis management firm.
At the height of the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack fallout, and questions about whether Rice and a former senior intelligence official had misled Congress about the role of an internet video in the deaths of four Americans, Mercury LLC was also tasked with handling the Fox News media inquiries.

Hungary: Interior Minister visits container camp as new immigration law comes into force
Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter arrived at Tompa Transit Zone, Wednesday as Hungary’s new rules for proceeding applications of asylum seekers have come into force.
According to the Hungarian immigration legislation, refugees will have to stay in the transit zones for the time in takes authorities decide on their cases. Pinter underlined that the transit zones had been built not to detain asylum seekers, but for the temporary residency, until occupants receive a decision.
The new immigration rules for asylum seekers came into force on March 7 this year. According to the new order, illegal immigrants will now be required to reside in container camps located by the southern border. All asylum seekers will either be detained or moved to camps for the duration of their application process. This is true for those already in the country as well as for those seeking to enter.
SOT, Sandor Pinter, Hungarian Interior Minister (Hungarian): “This container camp was built for those, who illegally enters Hungary and stays here. If they want to seek asylum, give it here to the authorities, or if they don’t want to seek asylum, then they can leave Hungary and the EU and freely move in the direction, they have arrived from. I want to make it clear: there is no detention here.”

Europe’s Out-of-Control Censorship

Germany has formally announced its draconian push towards censorship of social media. On March 14, Germany’s Justice Minister Heiko Maas announced the plan to formalize into law the “code of conduct”, which Germany pressed upon Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in late 2015, and which included a pledge to delete “hate speech” from their websites within 24 hours.
“This [draft law] sets out binding standards for the way operators of social networks deal with complaints and obliges them to delete criminal content,” Justice Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement announcing the planned legislation.
“Criminal” content? Statements that are deemed illegal under German law are now being conflated with statements that are merely deemed, subjectively and on the basis of entirely random complaints from social media users — who are free to abuse the code of conduct to their heart’s content — to be “hate speech”. “Hate speech” has included critiques of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s migration policies. To be in disagreement with the government’s policies is now potentially “criminal”. Social media companies, such as Facebook, are supposed to be the German government’s informers and enforcers — qualified by whom and in what way? — working at the speed of light to comply with the 24-hour rule. Rule of law, clearly, as in North Korea, Iran, Russia or any banana-republic, has no place in this system.
The Terrorism Industry

It is obvious that the West concerns itself with its live citizens; we concern ourselves in glorifying our industry of death.
It seems we regard our dead differently from the way the dead are regarded in the West. Here, no respect is paid to the shaheed [martyr]; he is expendable. He serves only as an excuse to hate, riot and glorify the “resistance” and the “jihad” — terrorist attacks.
Why, during the long years of our conflict in the Middle East, have we Palestinians never interested ourselves in the bodies of Palestinian terrorists killed in terrorist attacks? No one has ever shown the slightest interest in their fate. Arabs and Muslims in the Middle East often point fingers at one another, yet in reality, we respect neither the living nor the dead. No one buries the thousands of bodies of Islamists killing each other. We abandon our brothers to rot in foreign soil. There are untold number of civilians killed in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, their bodies unmourned, eaten by scavengers.
We simply use the bodies of terrorists — to call for more blood and more terrorism against civilians, and to keep the terrorism industry going. No one here really cares about the dead: they quickly become just an excuse for more violence and more terror attacks.
Islam’s constant desire for death will be its undoing. As in the old saying, “Be very careful about what you wish for…”. At some point, Western nations will become so convinced of Islam’s craving for death that they will begin to feel rather churlish about having withheld from Muslims their exclusive goal for so many years. Fortunately for nations of the West (and to the great misfortune of Muslims), there are more-than sufficient arms to rather abruptly make up for all of this lost time.

Terror Attack in Prisons ‘Likely’, Islamism ‘Taking Hold’ (breitbart, Apr 6, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/04/06/terror-attack-in-prison-likely-islamism-taking-hold/
“Radical Islam is “taking hold” in Britain’s prisons, where a terror attack is more likely than at any time since the IRA years, a former governor who has conducted a review into Islamic extremism has warned.
“Prison is an ideal environment for the death-cult ideology of Islamist extremism to flourish,” wrote Ian Acheson in the Spectator. He also claimed staff were paralysed “for fear of being accused of being racist by Muslim prisoners”.
Mr. Acheson was commissioned by then Justice Secretary Michael Gove to conduct a review of the threat posed by Islamist extremism in prisons.
“We quizzed officials, made dozens of prison visits, analysed intelligence provided by the prison service and other agencies, and surveyed the 40,000 people who work inside the criminal justice sprawl,” he explained.
“We saw it taking hold in several prisons. We had corroborating evidence from hundreds of staff who felt unsupported and lacked the skills to cope with this new challenge.
“Worse still, we were told on countless occasions that prison officers did not confront hateful ideas on the landings for fear of being accused of being racist by Muslim prisoners…”

Rex Tillerson: US organizing coalition to remove Assad
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that steps are “underway” to organize an “international community effort” to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad, a major policy shift triggered by the latest chemical weapons attack in the country’s ongoing civil war.
“With the acts that he has taken, it would seem that there would be no rule for him to govern the Syrian people,” Tillerson told reporters. “The process by which Assad would leave is something that I think requires and international community effort, both to first defeat ISIS within Syria, to stabilize the Syrian country to avoid further civil war, and then to work collectively with our partners around the world through a political process that would lead to Assad leaving.”
Tillerson added that “those steps are underway” already.
It’s a marked shift from last week, when Tillerson told reporters in Turkey that Assad’s future would be up to the Syrian people — an apparent departure from former President Barack Obama’s stated position that he had to leave power. And it adds a new layer of complexity to Tillerson’s upcoming trip to Moscow, as Russia has provided Assad with major military and diplomatic support.
“It is very important that the Russian government consider carefully their continued support for the Assad regime,” Tillerson said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s team signaled that Assad might not enjoy “unconditional support” from them, as they disclaimed responsibility for the Syrian gas attack. “It is not correct to say that Moscow can convince Mr. Assad to do whatever is wanted in Moscow,” Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “This is totally wrong.”
One critical test is whether the Russians will concur with the U.S. assessment that Assad’s regime carried out the attack. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov agreed in 2013 that the Russians would support retaliation against the Assad regime in the event that his regime was proven to use chemical weapons. But the Russians have denied that he was responsible for every ensuing use of gas in the Syrian civil war.
“There is no doubt in our minds and the information we have supports that the Syria, the Syrian regime under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, are responsible for this attack,” Tillerson said.

Russia recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital
Russia on Thursday publicly recognized West Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.
The announcement was made in a statement by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that addressed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In the statement, Moscow reaffirmed its “support for the two-state solution” while acknowledging that East Jerusalem should be the capital of the future Palestinian state.
“We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state,” the ministry said.
“At the same time, we must state that in this context we view West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”
Moscow’s announcement comes as the new U.S. administration is considering moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, thereby recognizing the city as Israel’s capital.
Israel declared Jerusalem its capital in 1950, but Russia is the first nation to recognize it as such, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Long-standing U.S. policy has called for the status of Jerusalem to be resolved by the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Russia is currently not planning on moving its embassy to the city.
In the statement, Russia maintained that a two-state solution is the best policy for the achieving peace in the region and pledged to focus on ensuring access to Jerusalem “for all believers.”
“Moscow reaffirms its support for the two-state solution as an optimal option that meets the national interests of the Palestinian and Israeli people, both of whom have friendly relations with Russia, and the interests of all other countries in the region and the international community as a whole,” the ministry said.
“Russia will continue to provide assistance to the achievement of Israeli-Palestinian agreements. We will focus on ensuring free access to Jerusalem’s holy places for all believers.”

Russia recognizes western Jerusalem as Israel’s capital
Russia reverses decades of policy on Jerusalem, but still refuses to recognize Israeli claim to eastern half of city.
Russia officially announced that it recognizes western Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in an unexpected announcement Thursday.
“We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. At the same time, we must state that in this context we view West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” the Foreign Ministry in Moscow said in a statement.
The statement represents a large shift in Russian policy. Russia had previously called for Jerusalem to be ruled by an international regime. However, the statement also gave recognition to the Palestinian Authority’s claim to the eastern half of the city, in which many of the holiest sites of Judaism are located, such as the Temple Mount.
Many nations refuse to place their embassies in Jerusalem even though Israel has controlled the western half of the city since the War of Independence in 1948. US President Donald Trump has stated that he is considering moving the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, though he has not made a final decision.
Israeli officials refused to comment on the surprise announcement. “We are studying the matter,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Nahshon said.
It is unknown whether Jerusalem will welcome the announcement in light of the continued refusal to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over eastern Jerusalem.
Israel will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation and reunification of Jerusalem this June.

This is an interesting chess move, Trump is reported to be getting ready to do this but Russia beats them in being the first. Also the US is getting ready to make so big move in Syria and this places our major ally in the Middle East in the position of choosing neither side in the coming mess. I wonder what Putin has planned to make the European nations (both East and West) decide who they are going to support or if they are neutral?
I would not be at all surprised if Putin did this specifically to stir up
sh!tthe Arab-Israeli pot. Russia has never been a friend of the Jews or Israel. Considering the role that Russian arms sales (e.g., to Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Iraq) have played in killing Israelis, Putin’s stance regarding Jerusalem just as easily could be nothing more than a ploy to keep tensions ratcheted up to fever pitch. Most telling in this respect is how the article notes that:
“In the statement, Moscow reaffirmed its “support for the two-state solution” while acknowledging that East Jerusalem should be the capital of the future Palestinian state.”
It is doubtful that Israel will ever accept a divided Jerusalem. Any such thing would take on a life of its own as something akin to post-WWII Berlin. At the very least, Putin has set a divided Jerusalem as the status quo such that any support by Trump for all of Jerusalem being the capitol of Israel will appear inflammatory.
Simultaneously, this ploy allows Putin to steal a march on Trump and gain the “tempo“*. This, despite Trump having announced similar intentions weeks ago. If 0bama was famous for anything, it was unnecessarily relinquishing the diplomatic or military tempo when dealing with enemies of the West.
* “Tempo” is a chess term referring to the initial advantage that white has over black. When played correctly, white can keep black in a continuously reactive mode, solely responding to white’s aggressive moves. A fundamental blunder is for white make a “non-move” (i.e., passive play) that allows black to force white into a reactive mode. This is known as gaining the “tempo”.
The equity authoritarians MUST BE STOPPED. NOW!

This is a talk I gave in Calgary, Alberta on Mar 25, 2016, for a political action group, Generation Screwed. I wrote it out, and read it, which I rarely do, because I was developing a new argument, and wanted to ensure I made it properly. During the talk, I discuss the increasingly widespread demands for so-called “equity,” or equality of outcome. This the most dangerous idea that the postmodern neo-Marxists have yet championed. Equity cannot be attained, even if it was desirable, because there is no limit to the ways in which people can be categorized. Race, sex, gender identity, and sexual proclivity — the current contenders for primacy of identity among the radical activist leftists — are no more valid as categories of human beings than attractiveness, personality, political belief, intelligence, health status, or economic class. Thus, the demand for equity can never be met.
Lawmakers say intel agencies stonewalling on surveillance probe
Lawmakers probing the surveillance of key officials in the Trump campaign and administration say the intelligence agencies now nominally under the president’s control are stonewalling efforts to get to the bottom of who revealed names and leaked protected information to the press.
The House and Senate Intelligence Committees are currently investigating allegations the Obama administration spied on Trump associates – and possibly Trump himself – for as long as the year preceding his inauguration. And while former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice has been implicated as at least one of the officials who sought redacted names from surveillance transcripts, multiple lawmakers and investigators for the panel told Fox News the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency – all agencies in position to aid the probe – are not cooperating.
“Our requests are simply not being answered,” said one House Intelligence committee source about the lack of responsiveness. “The agencies are not really helping at all and there is truly a massive web for us to try and wade through.”
A Senate Intelligence Committee source said the upper chamber had the same experience.

Russia warns of ‘negative consequences’ if US targets Syria
UNITED NATIONS (REUTERS) – Russia’s deputy United Nations envoy, Vladimir Safronkov, warned on Thursday (April 7) of “negative consequences” if the United States carries out military strikes on Syria over a deadly toxic gas attack.
“We have to think about negative consequences, negative consequences, and all the responsibility if military action occurred will be on shoulders of those who initiated such doubtful and tragic enterprise,” Safronkov told reporters when asked about possible US strikes.
When asked what those negative consequences could be, he said: “Look at Iraq, look at Libya.”

Russia THREATENS Donald Trump with ‘negative consequences’ if he strikes Syria
RUSSIA has warned the United States to avoid launching strikes against President Assad’s regime or they could face “consequences”.
In response to a question on whether President Donald Trump may launch attacks in Syria, Russia’s deputy UN envoy Vladimir Safronkov said: “Think about negative consequences”.
He added: “We have to think about negative consequences, negative consequences, and all the responsibility if military action occurred will be on shoulders of those who initiated such doubtful and tragic enterprise.”
When asked what those negative consequences could be, he said: “Look at Iraq, look at Libya.”
The warning follows President Trump’s passionate speech at the White House following the Syria gas attack on Tuesday.
The US President said the attack “crossed many lines” and changed his opinion of the Assad regime.

U.S. Launches Missiles at Syrian Base After Chemical Weapons Attack
The United States launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night at a Syrian airfield in response to what it believes was the Syrian government’s use of banned chemical weapons blamed for having killed at least 100 people on Tuesday, U.S. military officials told NBC News.
Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired at least 50 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha’irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That’s the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons.
There was no immediate word on casualties. U.S. officials told NBC News that people were not targeted and that aircraft and infrastructure at the site, including the runway, were hit.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, have bluntly blamed Syria for the chemical weapons attack, whose victims included at least 25 children.
Tillerson told reporters on Thursday that “there is no doubt in our minds” that the Syrian regime was responsible for the attack. And in a combative speech at the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday, Haley warned: “When the United Nations consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action.”
NBC News reported Thursday that Defense Secretary James Mattis briefed President Donald Trump on U.S. military options, which included carrying out targeted strikes against those responsible for Tuesday’s attack.
There was no immediate reaction from Russia, which Tillerson and Haley have accused of turning a blind eye to Syria’s transgressions.
“Russia cannot escape responsibility for this,” Haley said at the United Nations. “They chose to close their eyes to the barbarity. They defied the conscience of the world.”
Thursday, Tillerson urged Russia to “consider carefully their continued support of the Assad regime.”

BOOM! New Report Reveals Susan Rice Didn’t Act Alone
Posted on April 6, 2017
Susan Rice has been under the spotlight ever since people caught wind that she was responsible for the unmasking of Trump’s team. Actually, it’s one of the biggest news stories trending in this week’s cycle.
Yet, the MSM is refusing to cover a minute of the scandal and is attempting to keep their audience in the dark.
The story seems to keep growing as the days go by, though. Buried in Wall Street Journal article, new pieces of evidence have come to light.
Why is this a big deal?
Well simply put, she said she was the only one involved and wasn’t ‘allowed’ to share any of the information.

CANADA – MONTREAL – Accused of murder, Montreal man has case stayed due to Jordan ruling
Sivaloganathan Thanabalasingam was arrested in 2012 for death of wife
A Montreal man accused of second-degree murder has had his case stayed because of the Jordan ruling.
Sivaloganathan Thanabalasingam was accused in the murder of his wife. He was arrested in August of 2012.
The “Jordan decision” was issued by the Supreme Court of Canada last July. The ruling sets new deadlines on the justice system to avoid unreasonable trial delays.
Less serious offences must now be wrapped up within 18 months and more serious charges, including murder, have a 30 month deadline.
“I thought my client’s rights were violated,” said his defence lawyer Joseph La Leggia.
Thanabalasingam has been detained since his arrest. Trial proceedings were set to start on Monday, April 10.
Given Thursday’s ruling, Thanabalasingam should be released within hours, according to La Leggia.
“My client is …obviously very happy. Hopefully he’s going to be released because he has no pending cases, no other charges against him. Normally the system would want him released from jail hopefully today or tonight. I’m presuming that it’ll be in the next 24 hours or less.”
This is the first time someone accused of murder in Quebec has had their charges stayed because of the Jordan ruling.
Thanabalasingam’s case is the third in Canada.
The Crown has 30 days to appeal the decision.
Victims ‘abandoned by our justice system’
A few weeks ago, the Quebec government announced the appointment of 16 new judges and the hiring of 52 new prosecutors as a way to unclog the system.
Hundreds of support staff were also hired.
The province has almost 700 requests for stays of proceedings for unreasonable time delays.
Véronique Hivon, justice critic for the official opposition, is calling for more to be done.
“Today, I think that our level of outrage has hit the limit. Our level of outrage literally hits the limit when we see that we are at a point where delays led to an alleged murderer being released,” she said.
Hivon added that Quebec should explore the possibility of using the notwithstanding clause in exceptional circumstances “so that justice can be served beyond the time limits prescribed by the Jordan ruling.…It is not true that victims, such as those today who are left behind, who have lost their lives, and all of their families, must be abandoned by our justice system because of unreasonable delays.

First murder case in Quebec placed under a stay of proceedings because of Jordan ruling
Canada’s justice system apparently failed Anuja Baskaran a second time as the Montreal man charged with her murder saw his case placed under a stay of proceedings on Thursday after a Superior Court judge ruled it took too long for the Crown to prosecute him.
Baskaran, 21, was killed, on Aug. 11, 2012, after her throat was slit. Her estranged husband, Sivaloganathan Thanabalasingham, had been released from custody two months earlier despite heaving pleaded guilty in three cases involving conjugal violence.
Thanabalasingham was charged with second-degree murder in the case. But on Thursday, Superior Court Justice Alexandre Boucher ruled, at the Montreal courthouse, that it had taken the Crown too long to prosecute the case.
It is the first time in Quebec that a murder case has been placed under a stay of proceedings following the Jordan decision delivered by the Supreme Court of Canada last summer. The decision set limits on how long a person accused of a crime should expect to wait for a trial. In Superior Court cases the limit was set at 30 months. Boucher’s decision was made orally and a written version is expected to be made public at a later date.
Thanabalasingham was returned to the Montreal Detention Centre Thursday afternoon to collect his personal belongings but he should be released soon, said his defence lawyer Joseph La Leggia.
“Each case is based on its own merits. Each case lives and dies on its own facts,” La Leggia said when asked if the decision might send a message to prosecutors who also have murder cases that have been pending for years
Crown prosecutor Catherine Perreault said she was unable to comment on the decision and referred interview requests to the provincial prosecutor’s bureau. A spokesperson for the bureau said they will consider filing an appeal.
According to a story published by La Presse in December 2012, Thanabalasingham was awaiting his sentence in three conjugal violence cases involving Baskaran when he was charged with her murder. Following one of the incidents, Anuja, who was from Sri Lanka, told police she wasn’t even sure why she was married to Thanabalasingham. She described their union as an arranged marriage based on how her family owed money to his. The couple were married a year before Baskaran was killed. According to the article, Baskaran first reported that she had been assaulted by Thanabalasignham in December 2011 and told police he had struck her on the head about 10 times.
The first court in Canada to place a stay of proceedings on a murder case, following the Jordan decision, was last year in Ontario.
La Leggia explained that the judge reached the decision made on Thursday because the Crown failed to convince the Court that delays in the case were justified.
The Supreme Court of Canada decision made last summer anticipated such scenarios would arrive and established guidelines for judges to follow.
“(T)he delay may exceed the ceiling because the case is of moderate complexity in a jurisdiction with significant institutional delay problems,” the Supreme Court wrote in its decision. Quebec’s Superior Court system has been plagued by delays for years because of a lack of judges and available courtrooms.
“On the other hand, the rights of all accused persons cannot be held in abeyance while the system works to respond to this new framework. Breaches will still be found and stays of proceedings will still be entered for cases currently in the system. For example, if the delay in a simple case vastly exceeds the ceiling because of repeated mistakes or missteps by the Crown, the delay might be unreasonable even though the parties were operating under the previous framework.”
La Leggia said one thing he argued after having filed his motion was that the Crown caused an unnecessary delay when it used court time in an effort to have the second-degree murder charge changed to first-degree murder.

“A report released Thursday by Oxfam details violent, brutal and unlawful treatment of migrants by authorities along the Balkan route. The report, ”A Dangerous Game”, states that some asylum seekers including children were put into cages, deprived of food for as many as three days and tortured with electrical shocks by the police, border guards and other authorities along the route.
Oxfam collected the testimonies of 140 migrants for the report, who said that they were beaten, robbed and subjected to inhumane treatment. Many of them say they were deported illegally and denied access to procedures to request asylum. The research was conducted by the Belgrade Human Rights Center and the Young Macedonian Lawyers Association. Testimonies of ”incidents” that occurred in Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria and Macedonia are included in the report.”

“Europe is no longer the center of democracy and human rights but it is one of Nazism and oppression, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has said, accusing European leaders of being surrounded by far-right politicians.
“Europe has reached such a point. It’s finished; wasted away. But it will pay for it dearly, very dearly.
All [the values] they have been defending for centuries have collapsed. I am clear on this. In the eyes of billions of people, Europe today is no longer the center of democracy, human rights and freedoms but it is one of oppression, violence and Nazism,” Erdo?an said at a rally in the western province of Bal?kesir on April 6.
He said Europe is a rotten continent. “Racist parties are twisting European leaders and governments around their fingers. Europe has nothing to tell us or the world.”…”
