  1. Europe will wake up in 2017′, Le Pen tells Germany right-wing congress
    [AFP]
    Michelle FITZPATRICK

Koblenz (Germany) (AFP) – French presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen on Saturday told a European gathering of rightwing populists in Germany that a string of high-stakes elections in 2017 would blow a wind of change across the region.

Emboldened by the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s US presidential victory, the far-right National Front leader said voters in France, Germany and the Netherlands would be next to reject the status quo.

“2016 was the year the Anglo-Saxon world woke up. 2017, I am sure, the people of continental Europe will wake up,” she told a cheering crowd at a conference hall in the western city of Koblenz, on the river Rhine.

“It’s no longer a question of if, but when,” she added in a speech that railed against migration, the euro and open borders.

Billed as a “European counter-summit”, the Koblenz gathering is also being attended by Frauke Petry of the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD), Geert Wilders of the Dutch anti-Islam Freedom Party, Harald Vilimsky, secretary general of the Freedom Party of Austria and Matteo Salvini of Italy’s anti-EU Northern League.

  2. Europe’s nationalist leaders launch year of election hopes

KOBLENZ, Germany (AP) — French presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen declared Saturday that 2017 will be the “year of the awakening of the people of continental Europe” as she joined fellow nationalist leaders in Germany at the beginning of a year of high-stakes national elections.

Populist parties have been surging in polls in Europe and the leaders’ mood was celebratory as they came together in support of one another, the day after Donald Trump was sworn in as U.S. president following a campaign buoyed by anti-establishment and protectionist themes.

“Yesterday, a new America. Today — hello Koblenz — a new Europe!” Dutch anti-Islam leader Geert Wilders said as he opened his speech at a congress center on the banks of the Rhine river, under heavy security.

“The people of the West are awakening. They are throwing off the yoke of political correctness,” he said. “This year will be the year of the people … the year of liberation, the year of the patriotic spring.”

    • Germany: 2017 will be the ‘year of patriotic spring’ – Wilders

Geert Wilders, leader of the populist right Freedom Party in the Netherlands, said 2017 would be the ‘year of the patriotic spring’ as he spoke at the Freedom for Europe conference in Koblenz, Saturday.

SOT, Marcus Pretzell, Member of the European Parliament for AfD (German): “What the European Union is doing with Israel, how it’s treating it, is the very proof of what we fear for our future. Israel is our future, showing how we should deal with the Islam.”

SOT, Marcus Pretzell, Member of the European Parliament for AfD (German): “Ladies and gentlemen, those who really want to fight the political Islam, the Islamic State, should support Israel, not fight against it politically and financially.”

SOT, Geert Wilders, leader of Freedom Party (PVV) (German): “We are fed up with the Europhiles in Brussels, who want to abolish our countries and force us into an undemocratic superstate, in which we would become a multicultural unity society. To this Europe we say no.”

SOT, Geert Wilders, leader of Freedom Party (PVV) (German): “This year will be the year of the people. The year in which the voice of the people was finally listened to. The year of the non-violent, political revolution in Europe. The year of the liberation, the year of the patriotic spring.”

    • Germany: Salvini and Petry call for ‘national sovereignty’ at ‘Freedom for Europe’ congress

Leaders of several European nationalist parties gathered for the ‘Freedom for Europe’ congress, in Koblenz, Saturday.

SOT, Matteo Salvini, Lega Nord leader (Italian): “Today a wind of freedom finally blows on the whole world and reassures all citizens: good luck and good job Mr. Trump.”

SOT, Matteo Salvini, Lega Nord leader (Italian): “Here, today, there is hope for everyone that the authoritarian drift undertaken by the European Union and its elites can be interrupted to finally asprire to an era of wealth, rights, reactivation of national sovereignty, safeguard of people’s identities and freedom. This is an historic day.”

SOT, Matteo Salvini, Lega Nord leader (Italian): “Somebody needs to safeguard our people from the islamic terrorism, which uses mass migration – which is useful to the EU policies and to Mrs. Merkel as well – to affirm that Europe is theirs. Europe is not Islamic, Europe is our house, the future is our house. Europe is not and will never be Islamic.”

SOT, Frauke Petry, chair of Alternative for Germany (AfD) (German): “We must show those who are calling for more Europe for what they really are – they’re the real anti-Europeans, they’re the real anti-democrats. Ladies and Gentlemen, luckily we have an answer for these insubstantial technocrats, and the answer – ladies and gentlemen – is citizens and politicians who will reclaim a Europe of freedom and sovereign nation states.”

SOT, Frauke Petry, chair of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) (German): “Ladies and Gentlemen, allow us – in this way – to reconsider and rebuild this Europe, not only this weekend, but also in the coming months and years, not only in election years but in all those hence – to make it peaceful, free, sovereign and subsidiary. Thank you.”

  4. Trump is now president, but he still sees himself as leading an insurgency

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald Trump took over as U.S. president on Friday in the same way he conducted his upstart campaign, with a mixture of blustery salesmanship and naked contempt for the established political order.

In doing so, he sent a clear signal to the country and the world: He plans to govern as he campaigned, refusing to align himself even with his own Republican Party and taking his message directly to the American people.

He did nothing to dispel concerns that he would bring the cult of personality he built over the election campaign into the White House, and he offered little in the way of olive branches to the tens of millions of Americans who did not vote for him in the most divisive election in modern U.S. history.

A former reality TV star, Trump offered an apocalyptic vision of reality: an America besieged by crime, immigration, terrorism and unfair trade deals.

“The American carnage stops right here and stops right now,” he pledged, as he presented himself as a champion of the ordinary American.

  5. Armed citizen debate is very real in Europe – and likely to grow
    By J.E. Dyer January 20, 2017

The Washington Post had an interesting article two weeks ago (h/t reader ibrahimdaoud) about the widening rift between the Czech Republic and the EU on gun policy. The article focused on two aspects of it: a movement in Prague to empower armed citizens to take down terrorists, and the EU’s politically correct march to ever more limiting gun restrictions.

Let me backtrack for a moment, however. Two years ago, just after the first major ISIS attack in Paris – the one on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, followed by the bloody stand at the Jewish deli – I wrote about Europe’s need to revisit its own legacy of armed citizenship. An armed yeoman citizenry is a concept that arose distinctively in Europe, and is too obviously suited to the problem of deterring domestic terrorism for it to be long ignored.

In the two years since, I’ve had occasion to hark back to that point more than once. See here and here, for example. In October 2015, Czech TV reported on a fast-accelerating trend of new gun purchases in Central Europe; i.e., parts of Europe where it remains more practically feasible to buy and own a gun.

And at the end of a longer article in February 2016, I focused on the dynamic of armed-citizen deterrence, bringing in a very interesting video from an encounter in France. I’ll quote from that earlier passage here (the video is below):

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/01/20/armed-citizen-debate-real-europe-likely-grow/

    • From futher down in the article:

It’s a thought-provoking sign of how different European and U.S. legal ideas have become, that the Czech government even has to think in terms of explicitly authorizing citizens to shoot a terrorist attacker.

But the EU won’t be able to put a lid on this movement. It makes too much sense for the people to be able to defend themselves. The cost of adhering to a highly centralized, restrictive concept of public security is too high – and it leaves out the most important feature of an armed citizenry: the deterrent effect of their hardened profile.

Ultimately, however, what it comes down to is this. It is immoral to demand of the people that they pay for politically correct delusions with their lives. A number of trends, including this one regarding the civilian use of small arms, show that Europe is waking up to that truth.

Europe is waking up and will end up having fewer gun control laws then the US unless the Supreme Court throws out all gun control laws as unconstitutional.

  6. Trump’s position does not serve regional stability, says Hamas (miemo, Jan 21, 2017)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20170121-trumps-position-does-not-serve-regional-stability-says-hamas/

“The deputy leader of Hamas said on Friday that the position of US President Donald Trump regarding Palestine does not serve stability in the region, Quds Press has reported. Mousa Abu Marzook explained that Trump’s positions encourage extremist Israelis to carry on with their extremism. He cited, for example, Trump’s promise to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, which has been hailed by extremist Jews in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.

“As president, Donald Trump should revaluate the consequences of his remarks and policies, including moving the embassy to Jerusalem,” suggested Abu Marzook. “This would have an impact not only on American interests, but also those of the whole region.”

The senior Hamas official, who lived in the United States for years, said that neither Trump’s remarks nor his nominations make Hamas bet on him regarding the future of the Palestinian cause and returning the rights of the Palestinians…”

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20170121-mosul-op-6500-iraq-soldiers-killed-in-3-months/

“Recently released figures paint a grisly picture of the butcher’s bill paid by the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), allied Kurdish Peshmerga and Iran-backed Shia jihadists as the third month of fighting for Iraq’s northern city of Mosul continues.

According to figures released by Amaq news agency, closely linked to the Daesh extremist group, the militants have managed to exact a devastating death toll on US and Iran-backed forces, totalling to 1,520 men lost in the third month of combat alone.

Daesh have also claimed to have killed 170 soldiers in sniper attacks, in addition to carrying out 58 suicide bombing missions leading to the destruction of 11 tanks and dozens of other vehicles used by the ISF and allied forces.

The militant group’s suicide bombings are usually vehicle-borne in specially designed vehicles to prevent them being taken out before they reach their targets. Analysts have described these car bombs as Daesh’s version of airstrikes, due to the devastating carnage they cause.

If accurate, the third month’s figures now mean that total Iraqi losses have now reached 6,491 over three months of fighting in Iraq’s second largest city, held by the extremist group since June 2014.

The Iraqi government has consistently failed to release casualty figures…”

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20170121-pentagon-us-airstrikes-kill-100-al-qaeda-fighters-in-syria/

“A US airstrike on Thursday targeting an alleged Al-Qaeda training camp in Syria’s Idlib province killed more than 100 militants, the Pentagon said in a statement yesterday.

The strike took place just a day before the end of Barack Obama’s presidency and the beginning of Donald Trump’s, and a day after more than 80 Daesh militants were killed in other US airstrikes in Libya.

“The removal of this training camp disrupts training operations and discourages hardline Islamist and Syrian opposition groups from joining or cooperating with Al-Qaeda on the battlefield,” Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said in the statement.

The United States has never bombed Iranian proxies, such as Shia jihadists from the Lebanese Hezbollah or units from the Iraqi Hezbollah, despite both being listed as terrorist organisations by Washington.

Davis said the Shaykh Sulayman training camp had been operational since 2013, adding that since the start of this year more than 150 Al-Qaeda militants have been killed in US airstrikes.

An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the airstrike was carried out by a B-52 bomber and unmanned aircraft and dropped 14 munitions. The official added that there was a high level of confidence that there were no civilian casualties…”

“Turkey’s parliament has approved a new draft constitution paving the way for a presidential system of government.

The reforms – which would significantly increase the powers of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – received the required three-fifth majority in the assembly.

The bill will be put to a referendum, probably in April, and will become law if more than 50% of voters back it.

Critics say the move could usher in authoritarian rule, and amounts to a power grab by Mr Erdogan.

But the president says the changed system will resemble those in France and the US.

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-turkey-security-arrests-idUKKBN1550H1?rpc=401&

“Turkish prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for more than 400 people, including soldiers and security officers, in 48 provinces across the country following July’s failed coup, broadcaster Haberturk said on Saturday.

They were being sought on suspicion of using Bylock, an encrypted smartphone messaging app that the government says was used by the network of Fethullah Gulen who is alleged by Ankara to have orchestrated the attempted coup, Haberturk reported.

Gulen, a U.S.-based cleric who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, has denied the charge and condemned the coup.

In a post-coup crackdown, Turkey has jailed some 40,000 people pending trial and has suspended or dismissed more than 100,000 from the military, judiciary and public services.

Among the suspects were 123 soldiers from the navy and 187 security officers, Haberturk said. It said 12 people had been detained so far in operations centred in Ankara and Istanbul.

Separately, authorities detained five people in relation to attacks with rocket launchers on Friday by unidentified assailants on Istanbul’s police headquarters and an office of the ruling AK Party, broadcaster CNN Turk said.

NATO member Turkey has been hit by bombings and shootings in the past year, on top of July’s failed coup, in which soldiers commandeered tanks and fighter jets in a bid to seize power.”

  12. Anti-Trump protesters show their true colors with acts of violence, hatred
By Ben Bowles January 20, 2017

I believe J.E. Dyer is correct in her analysis that the forces “massing to protest and attack” the inauguration of Donald Trump embody “the same old stuff that the same old people have been mounting against Trump for the last year and a half.”

Nevertheless, the behavior those masses are demonstrating today is both un-American and frightening. It should come as a sobering heads-up to Democrats of what their divisive rhetoric and actions since the election have sown.

With the permission of my editors — which include J.E. — I have therefore compiled a snapshot in video format of the Left’s behavior on the day that the last president peacefully agreed to transfer power to the new president.

The least threatening of the demonstrations is first up. It consists of nothing more (or less) than a primal scream by the character below in a chartreuse rain slicker as he hears the announcement over a radio that Trump has been sworn in.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/01/20/anti-trump-protesters-show-their-true-colors-with-acts-of-violence-hatred/

He says that the actions of the demonstrators should sober up the Dems and make them rethink their actions during the campaign and since the election. The problem with that idea is that their actions seem designed to provoke this very action, they seem to want a civil war and are working to foment one.

“Representatives of Libya’s neighbors are warning rival factions in the North African nation against seeking to settle their differences through military force.

The representatives, who met in Cairo on Saturday, came from Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Chad, Niger and Tunisia. Also attending was U.N. envoy to Libya Martin Kobler.

“A comprehensive political dialogue between all Libya parties is the only way out of this crisis,” said a final communique after the meeting, saying the delegates “decisively reject” a military solution to the Libyan crisis.

Libya has plunged into chaos and lawlessness since the ouster and later killing of Muammar Gadhafi in a 2011 uprising and subsequent civil war, with two rival administrations operating in the east and west of the vast, oil-rich nation.”

  14. Teen sets sleeping stranger on fire on NYC subway train, looks on laughing
By Ben Bowles January 21, 2017

The beat goes on. In the latest bizarre mix of gratuitous attempted murder and technology, a teen with a history of arson set a sleeping man ablaze aboard a New York City subway train early Friday morning, then stood by laughing as he attempted to record a trophy video with his cell phone.

The victim, Piotr Olszewski suffered second-degree burns on his hands and arm after awakening to find himself engulfed in flames. “Just everything on fire and smoke, so I was putting fire out with my bare hands,” he told CBS New York.

Two conductors who came to Olszewski’s aid told police that the assailant made no effort to flee the scene. That individual, now in police custody, has been identified as 18-year-old Christopher Jackson, of Brooklyn.

  15. Police Official Says 3 Policemen Killed in Taliban Assault (abcnews, Jan 21, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/police-official-policemen-killed-taliban-assault-44947505

“A senior police official says Taliban insurgents stormed a police checkpoint in the northeastern province of Kapisa, killing three policemen.

Massoud Chardara, deputy provincial police chief, said the Friday afternoon assault on the checkpoint lasted two hours. No group took responsibility for the attack, but the government routinely blames Taliban insurgents — who have publicly warned Afghanistan’s security forces that they were targets and urged them to abandon their posts.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, in a text to journalists, accused government forces of killing six civilians in an attack Friday in Kapisa. There was no immediate explanation for the contradictory claims and the remoteness of the region makes it impossible to independently verify either report.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spain-sees-500-southern-border-crossing-attempts-month-44947471

“Spanish police say migrants have attempted close to 500 illegal border crossings in just one month by trying to hide on passenger and cargo boats landing on its southern coast.

Authorities said Saturday they had registered these entry efforts departing from Spain’s North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, after a monthlong police operation last year aimed to reduce the number of stowaway migrants setting foot on mainland Spanish ports like Almeria, Malaga and Motril.

Increased patrols along both docks and boats yielded almost 500 migrants trying to clandestinely bridge the Strait of Gibraltar, mostly minors dangerously hidden inside trucks, cargo or garbage containers set to be off-loaded into Spain.”

Senior defense officials confirmed to IHS Jane 360, the Indian army’s plans to deploy the newly ordered T-90MS MBTs along India’s western and northern borders with Pakistan.

The move comes months after Pakistan threatened India with a nuclear attack prompting speculation that the move is part of India’s unofficial ‘Cold Start’ strategy…”

    • This is one of the two hot spots that are most likely to end up in a nuclear exchange. All it will take is for one missile to be launched for both sides to go into the use them or loose them mode. Pakistan will launch of Iran and India. India will launch on Pakistan and China.

  18. The “Fake News” Censorship Industry

    by Robbie Travers
    January 21, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9802/fake-news-censorship

The German government thinks it knows exactly who should be the arbiter of truth and what articles you should be allowed to post. Itself!

After a bill was proposed by German lawmakers, which threatened fines of up to 500,000 euros ($522,000) for publishing “fake news,” Facebook decided to use an organisation called Correctiv, described as a German fact-checking non-profit organisation, to decide whether reported stories are “real” or “fake.”

This system would then encourage individual Facebook users to report other users’ posts to Correctiv. Facebook would then have Correctiv label any of the articles “fake news,” as they see fit.

Even then, this proposed response by Facebook was not harsh enough for some German lawmakers, who want articles deemed to be fake by the government to be removed within 24 hours, or else fine Facebook 500,000 euros. That move would undoubtedly lead to individuals abandoning Facebook for other social networks, or more probably, Facebook abandoning them. German attempts to police the Facebook could end up useless; to many, the plan looks suspiciously like a money-making stratagem.

  22. Six Dutch Mosques invite Hate Preacher barred even by home country Tunisia
    Posted on January 21, 2017 15:00

It seems that no less than six Dutch mosques, who had until now never caused controversy, just proved they too don’t have co-existance and integration very high on their priorities list. Sadly, it seems they have elected to put their effort in the exact opposite: steering their peers away from Western values, into the hands of orthodox Salafism.

To this end, the Sirat, Abi Bakr Assadik, Saidina Ibrahim, Essalaam, El Mottakien mosques and the Islamic Centre of Leidsche Rijn have invited a preacher who has anything but a clean record: Béchir Ben Hassen.

In fact, his record is so dubious, he was even barred from speaking in his home country of Tunisia. Among other things, he supported the murder of the Charlie Hebdo editors and cartoonists:

Austria, like many other countries in Europa, faces difficulties getting rid of undocumented immigrants who are not formally entitled to stay in the country. The city now risks becoming home to “neglected ghettos of undocumented migrants,” an expert warns.

They foiled 500 attempts last month alone as migrants are the ports of Ceuta and Melilla become crowded with migrants trying to stow away in cargo ships and passenger ferries, trying desperately to seek into the EU.

Last month, officers launched a huge operation the Brigade of Response to Clandestine Immigration (BRIC) to find the migrants, mostly young men, who are taking risky routes into Europe.

The footage has been released just weeks after it emerged more than 10,000 migrants have gone missing since arriving in Austria…”

  26. Borders across Europe to STAY sealed for months as Schengen dream found TOO RISKY (express, Jan 21, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/757216/Borders-Europe-sealed-Schengen-dream-continues-to-crumble

“THE EUROPEAN dream of open borders is continuing to fall apart as controls are set to be EXTENDED again.

Struggling Schengen was all-but destroyed in 2016 when countries began blocking their borders to stop illegal immigration.

Under the arrangement European citizens can travel without a visa through the designated zone, covering most of the bloc.

However, as scores of migrants from Syria, Africa and all over the Middle East began making their way through Italy and Greece to inland Europe, borders were sealed.

The introduction of border controls was a divisive issue but member states stood their ground, with Hungary and Austria erecting huge fences to stop entry.

It was widely hoped among EU supporters Schengen will be saved but the EU commission has now confirmed an extension of border controls…”

“A STRICT Muslim man murdered a Catholic pensioner during a robbery, a court has heard.

The 27-year-old defendant, named as Abubaker C, is accused of strangling the 70-year-old woman to death after breaking into her home on May 19 last year and leaving a series of Arabic and religious messages around the house.

The victim’s 74-year-old husband told the court in Heilbronn, Germany, he found her body with her hands tied and holding a cross.

He said that his family were committed Catholics.

A phone and an undisclosed sum of money had also been taken.

Prosecutors allege Abubaker killed the woman because she was “a disbeliever from his point of view”.

But the accused claimed he is the victim of a religious conspiracy during the trial…”

  28. Richard Branson to fund group to REVERSE Brexit as Article 50 triggered (express, Jan 21, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/757204/Richard-Branson-Virgin-Brexit-European-Union-Britain-EU

“VIRGIN boss Richard Branson is launching a group to reverse Brexit on the same day Theresa May triggers Article 50.

The Virgin chief, who has openly called for a second referendum because “Britain is heading for a disaster”, has sent one of his top business allies to front-up the anti-Brexit collective.

Mr Branson, who is based in the British Virgin Islands tax haven, has reportedly given an office and £25,000 to the as yet unnamed group.

The Europhiles are keen to rock the Brexit boat as much as possible by timing their group’s launch to coincide with Theresa May enacting Article 50.

Mr Branson believes Brexiteers have “shot themselves in the foot” by voting to leave the EU and that in business you “change your mind” if you’ve made a bad decision.

Documents reportedly show insurance tycoon Sir Clive Cowdery and former private equity boss Stephen Peel are supporting Mr Branson, as are Virgin chairman Peter Norris and former Blaire minister Alan Milburn.

Papers filed at Companies House reveal directors of the group – UK-EU Open Policy Limited – include the journalist and economist Anatole Kaletsky. He has said Britain needs to be persuaded to change its mind about Europe…”

  30. jihad watch -Trump at CIA: “We have to get rid of ISIS. We have no choice….This is a level of evil that we haven’t seen”

“We have to get rid of ISIS. We have no choice. Radical Islamic terrorism, and I said it yesterday, has to be eradicated, just off the face of the earth. This is evil. This is evil….This is a level of evil that we haven’t seen. And you’re going to go it and you’re going to do a phenomenal job, but we’re going to end it. It’s time. It’s time right now to end it.”

As I said when he said it yesterday, it isn’t possible to eradicate “radical Islamic terrorism” (which is actually orthodox and mainstream in Islam) as long as there are people who believe the Qur’an is the perfect and eternal word of Allah. There will always be some believers who get the idea that they can please Allah by killing and being killed for him (cf. Qur’an 9:111). However, Trump’s declaration, while hyperbolic, was a welcome indication of his apparent determination to speak honestly about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, and to combat it and roll it back.

Also, to call it “evil,” after eight years of moral equivocation and obfuscation, is as refreshing as Ronald Reagan’s calling the Soviet Union an “evil empire,” in the midst of a similar period of equivocation and cowardice. It is welcome to have that kind of moral clarity back in the White House. President Trump clearly hopes to emulate Reagan by destroying the Islamic State just as Reagan’s actions led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. That collapse didn’t end Communism, which is alive and well in the Democratic Party and on U.S. university campuses, but it did deal it a significant blow. If Trump ends the Islamic State, it won’t end Islamic jihad, but it will deal it a significant blow. After so many years of ignoring, enabling, explaining away, and blaming itself for that jihad, the United States is finally getting back on track.

  31. DONALD TRUMP RALLY MASSACRE: 20 dead as violence erupts at pro-Trump event (express, Jan 21, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/757254/Donald-Trump-rally-protest-Washington-Nigeria-President-America-dead-violence

“VIOLENT clashes between between police and pro-Trump demonstrators have left 20 dead and 200 still missing, according to the activist group’s organisers.

Donald Trump supporters came to blows with police and security forces as they were celebrating the Republican’s US election win, with 65 people being arrested and dozens more killed, local reports suggest.

While female rights groups and left wingers marched on Washington, a pro-Trump group from the Southern Rivers state in Nigeria held a rally of their own.

But trouble flared up when the Indigenous People of Biafra came to blows with police officers as they marched through the streets waving American flags and shouting anti-Nigerian government slogans.

A spokesman for the group claims 20 people are dead and 200 more are still missing.

However, police deny these claims, saying there were no deaths and 65 arrests…”
