  1. Paging Evnika Saadvakass to the White Courtesy Phone

Evnika Saadvakass may just be the toughest nine year-old girl in the world.

Saadvakass’s father, Rustam, has been training her as a boxer since her third birthday, and boy, does it show.

Clips of her doing things such as throwing 100 punches in a minute have been spread around the Internet for years…

Looks like little German girls (and women) finally have found their personal trainer.

  2. Austria drugs CRACK-DOWN: 30 migrants among 31 men arrested in Graz drug bust (express, Jan 17, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/755060/austria-drugs-migrants-graz-vienna-crime-immigration-nigeria-afghanistan

“POLICE in Austria have arrested 31 men as part of a “zero-tolerance” crack-down on drugs culture but only one of the men is an Austrian citizen.

In an effort to put an end to the Austrian city of Graz’ drugs scene, police arrested the men.

Fourteen of the men are from Nigeria, 12 are from Afghanistan, three are from Algeria, one is from Pakistan and one was Austrian.

Officers caught 15 of the men at the weekend after suspecting them of drug dealing on the streets of Graz.

Police said they also confiscated 2,500 euros of drug money when they seized the suspected criminals.

Austria’s Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka is focusing on developing a ‘Safe Austria’ scheme and said: “In the field of drug-related crime, I believe that a clear zero-tolerance strategy will be developed.”

A spokesman for the Interior Ministry warned: “If an asylum seeker is convicted under criminal law, this can lead to them losing their asylum status or being denied asylum. The ministry is also looking to speed up the process of deportation for such cases.”

The criminal complaints against migrants in Austria has soared over the past few years, with interior ministry figures showing that a staggering 42,010 property-related crimes were alleged to have been committed by migrants in 2015.

A staggering 23,951 of the charges are alleged to be bodily harm caused by the migrants.

In Vienna alone, 960 criminal complaints were made against Afghanis in the city between January and August last year, up from 730 for the whole of 2015.

But Christoph Riedl, an asylum expert for the Diakonie charity, pointed out that the figures could have been influenced by more people reporting crimes rather than more migrants actually committing crimes.

He said: “Just because the number of criminal charges has risen, this doesn’t automatically mean that asylum seekers are committing more crimes.

“These are figures for criminal complaints and not per capita statistics.”

He added: “In order to interpret these figures properly, we need to look at the statistics for the number of convictions.””

  3. Teacher who beat student during Koran lesson at Islamic boarding school removed from role (express, Jan 16, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/754837/teacher-beats-student-during-Koran-lesson-Islamic-boarding-school-Turkey

“A RELIGIOUS teacher was removed from his post after a sickening video went viral showing him beating an Islamic boarding school student during a lesson on the Koran.

The footage, which is believed to have first emerged in May 2016, allegedly shows the teacher striking his student with a slipper during the class at the Turkish school.

The appalling footage also shows the teacher hitting the youngster despite his pleas for him to stop the beating.

Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) head Mehmet Gormez condemned the beating during the Koran class at the Caybasi Koran Boarding School in the Marmara region of north west Turkey.

An investigation was ordered and launched by Diyanet after the video came to prominence…”

  4. Migrants granted asylum in UK because they’re gay rockets 450 PER CENT (express, Jan 16, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/754838/Migrants-granted-asylum-UK-sexuality-gay-increase-Home-Office

THE number of migrants claiming asylum in Britain because of their sexuality has rocketed 450 per cent in just five years, with MPs claiming it is difficult for the Home Office to prove they are genuinely gay.

Figures have risen by a staggering amounts as refugees claim they would be in danger if they were not given sanctuary.

In 2014, 1,115 people claimed refuge in Britain due to their sexuality.

However in 2009, it was as few as 200 claimants who claimed their sexuality could lead to death if they were sent back to their homeland.

Conservative MP David Burrowes linked the rise to a Supreme Court ruling in 2010 which stopped the Home Office rejecting claims over its view that sexuality could be kept hidden.

He told the newspaper: “The challenge for the Home Office and asylum seekers is having to prove your sexuality.”

Campaigners say desperate migrants have even been forced to film themselves having sex to convince authorities they are gay.

The shocking figures come after it emerged posters displayed in the sprawling Calais Jungle encouraged desperate migrants to lie about their sexuality in order to help their asylum claims.

Written in English and Arabic, the guide told migrants living in Calais to choose a “category”, which proves to authorities their life is in danger in their homeland.

The reasons ranged from “race and religion” to “being gay in some countries”.

The majority of claimants were from Pakistan, which will be handed £441million in British foreign aid this year.

Between 2007 and 2014, 748 Pakistani nationals claimed asylum because of their sexuality.

In the same period, 343 Nigerians, 112 Jamaicans and 88 Ghanaians gave being gay as a reason to stay.”

  5. Police cuts leave London ‘vulnerable to TERROR ATTACKS’, warns Sadiq Khan (express, Jan 17, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/755056/London-Mayor-Sadiq-Khan-metropolitan-police-budget-cuts-terror-attacks

“LONDON Mayor Sadiq Khan has warned the Government against more police cuts which could threaten the capital’s security in the wake of terror attacks across Europe.

More reductions to the Metropolitan Police budget would make it “near impossible” to maintain officer numbers on London’s streets, the mayor claimed.

Khan said: “Keeping Londoners safe is my first priority as mayor. That means keeping police officer numbers as high as possible, especially in the wake of recent horrific attacks in Berlin and Istanbul.

“But in the face of continued pressures on the police budget, exacerbated and deepened by central Government, this is becoming increasingly difficult.”

The Metropolitan Police has been forced to make budget cuts worth £600million since 2010, resulting in thousands of job losses and dozens of police station closures.

Further reductions are expected over the coming years, despite the heightened terror alert in Britain.

The official threat level for international terrorism in the UK stands at severe, meaning an attack is “highly likely”.

The London mayor continued: “This year, I have done everything I can to protect police officer numbers – including making the very difficult decision to raise council tax.

“But if the Government subjects London’s police service to any further cuts, it will become near impossible to maintain the number of police on our streets.

“My message to the Government today is clear: Londoners’ safety will be put at risk if police funding is cut any further, and ministers must listen to our concerns.”

In response, a Home Office spokesman said: “The Metropolitan Police Service remains the best-funded force in the country and will receive £2.5 billion in 2017/18 provided it maximises its precept.

“It is vital our police forces are fit to face the challenges of tomorrow.

“As Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has made clear, there is considerable scope to improve efficiency and this Government is giving policing the tools to achieve this by increasing the size of the police transformation fund to £175million.””

  6. Thousands of immigrants con the system by pretending to live in Ireland to get to UK (express, Jan 17, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/755115/Ireland-immigrants-scam-residency-enter-UK

“THOUSANDS of people are using a scam to secure residency for non-EU family members in the UK by creating false “lives” in Ireland, it has been reported.

Fraudsters are believed to be making millions of pounds by helping close relatives of UK nationals from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to create the fake histories and circumvent immigration restrictions.

The scam exploits laws that allow residency to be decided on European free-movement rules, rather than UK immigration laws, if a spouse of a British citizen comes to Britain after working in another EEA country.

The British Government warned it was a “growing industry” and anyone caught attempting to cheat the system could be banned for 10 years.

An investigation by the BBC’s File On 4 has found immigration advisers, lawyers and accountants were involved, with people paying up to £25,000 each to secure the required paperwork.

Det Supt Stephen Courage, from the Garda National Immigration Bureau, explained how the fraudsters were making the “staggering” profits.

“The facilitator will quite often set up a company, of which you will either be an owner or a director,” he told the BBC.

“They will also create a work history for you.

“They will create payslips, they will open bank accounts, and also pay nominal tax so when the immigration service receives an application to exercise EU treaty rights, they will look at the paperwork and on the face of it, it will appear that you have a life in Ireland.

“The people we are coming across in our investigations are often from a professional background, whether it be in law or accounting, these are white-collar criminals.

“The profits they’re making are staggering…”

  7. Unprecedented threats drive Secret Service inauguration security

Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy says the threat environment for this inauguration and the campaign that led up to it is “different” from previous ones.

WASHINGTON — Members of U.S. law enforcement will deploy countermeasures to prevent a large truck attack, such as those that killed dozens in Nice, France and Berlin last year, from happening during the inauguration of Donald Trump as president.

But Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy and his partners are convinced attempts to launch other violent and dangerous acts are well within the realm of possibility.

Clancy said the threat environment for this inauguration and the campaign that led up to it is “different” from previous ones.

“I think people today are willing to do things they may not have been willing to do in the past,” Clancy said.

He cited several episodes that took place during the campaign, “where people jumped over those bike racks or security zones into our buffer. In the past, it was very rare for somebody to do that. Today, in this past campaign, people were willing to do it.”

  8. Taiwan simulates China attacks as tension rises

Taipei (AFP) – Taiwan began two days of military drills Tuesday simulating an attack by China as the government sought to reassure the public in the face of deteriorating relations with Beijing.

The island’s armed forces gathered in central Taiwan for annual drills that saw troops practise combat skills with tanks, attack helicopters and artillery.

“The military has active measures to deal with the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea so the public can rest assured. We will enhance training 365 days a year,” defence spokesman Chen Chung-chi said.

Beijing considers Taiwan to be a breakaway province and part of “one China” to be brought back within its fold, by force if necessary.

China has stepped up drills in recent weeks after being angered by an unprecedented call between Taiwan’s Beijing-sceptic President Tsai Ing-wen and United States president-elect Donald Trump.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/taiwan-simulates-china-attacks-tension-rises-084129899.html

    • The one China policy and the US pulling back and allowing China to take over the South China Sea making it a province of China are things that PET is planning to revisit. The one China policy is a hold over from the Cold War and is really of little use to us now, not unless China agrees to modify its actions.

  9. As robots take jobs, Europeans mull free money for all

    By JOHN LEICESTER
    Associated Press

PARIS (AP) — I am, therefore I’m paid.

The radical notion that governments should hand out free money to everyone – rich and poor, those who work and those who don’t – is slowly but surely gaining ground in Europe. Yes, you read that right: a guaranteed monthly living allowance, no strings attached.

In France, two of the seven candidates vying to represent the ruling Socialist Party in this year’s presidential election are promising modest but regular stipends to all French adults. A limited test is already underway in Finland, with other experiments planned elsewhere, including in the United States.

Called “universal income” by some, “universal basic income” or just “basic income” by others, the idea has been floated in various guises since at least the mid-19th century. After decades on the fringes of intellectual debate, it became more mainstream in 2016, with Switzerland holding a referendum – and overwhelmingly rejecting – a proposed basic income of around $2,500 per month.

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_EUROPE_FREE_MONEY?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2017-01-16-10-30-33

    • The guaranteed annual income is a socialist dream that I first heard about in the 1960s, like all socialist plans is is so full of flaws that it will destroy the economy of any nation that implements it.

I have thought for a long time that this is the goal for all who keep raising the minimum wage to the levels where the companies bring in robots to do the work. The eventual end result of this police is everyone drawing a guaranteed income and given the class structure the left always sets up the amount will vary according to you educational level. This would be done so the left could continue to keep pushing class war and keep the nations divided, after all they believe in divide and rule.

  10. Obama rushes to fill dozens of federal jobs before leaving office

President Obama rushed to fill nearly 100 federal government vacancies during a frenzy of appointments in his final few weeks in office.

Since the new year, Obama has named 72 people to federal job openings and nominated another 17 for positions requiring Senate confirmation, according to CBS reporter Mark Knoller.

On Monday night, Obama announced appointments for 27 officials to government positions and named two to jobs requiring Senate confirmation.

The wave of announcements includes several White House officials, who will serve well after Obama leaves office.

They include Avril Haines, named a member of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service; Sarah Hurwitz, a speechwriter for Michelle Obama, and Raffi Freedman-Gurspan, a White House official, to be members of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council; Christy Goldfuss, DJ Patil, Amy Pope, Dan Utech and Cristin Dorgelo, all White House officials, to be members of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council.

    • Putting as many alt leftists in the US government as he can before he is out of office. This action is going to cause a lot of trouble in the future.

  11. Britain unleashed: A glimpse of the future?
    By J.E. Dyer January 17, 2017

This isn’t going to be extended or profound, so I’m just warning you. But Melanie Phillips had an excellent post Monday on some frisky signs of independence from the Theresa May government, and it’s worth taking note of them as we near the Trump inauguration.

President Trump is going to be operating in an emerging international environment that people haven’t really gotten their heads around. Most of the “Atlanticist West” – approximating how the Russians like to refer to it – still theorizes and writes as if not much has changed in the last eight years, other than some serious unpleasantness in the Middle East. Well, and some minor challenges with migrant pedestrians starting to show up north of the Danube.

But the truth is closer to the formulation of the indecorous Mr. Trump; i.e., that “NATO is obsolete.” The way I’d put it is that it isn’t clear what the point of NATO is now, and it’s past time to do something about that.

The core of any such project is defining what the point of Europe is now. Mrs. May was handed the keys to the UK in the Brexit vote last summer, which threw that question up on a Jumbo Tron in 6-foot high letters. With the two actions Melanie Phillips writes about, May has started a ball rolling, on a course we can’t see the end of from here.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/01/17/britain-unleashed-glimpse-future/

    • Please click through and read the rest of the article, it provides a glimpse into the thinking of various people and what drove certain actions. For the first time since the Brexit election Ihink Britain may leave the EU.

It also points out some that is ignored by most people and to many is unthinkable, President Elect Trump has signaled to the entire world that no international organization is a permanent part of the world. Everything is to be examined and we need to see if the world would be better off without that organization. The international left has been riding the supposed permanence of the US, NATO and the EU to power in many nations and now they have to reconsider what is going to happen and work to ensure that all international organizations work for the people instead of the leftist oligarchs that think they are the new Nobles and Royals of a neo feudal world.

  12. Running over — even killing — protesters blocking roadways could soon be legal in N. Dakota

Liberals like to call it civil disobedience, though motorists have other — less polite — names for it.

I am referring to demonstrations in which protesters block streets and highways, creating serious traffic and sometimes worse. In December 2014, a mob in Berkeley, Calif., irate over a grand jury’s decision not to indict a white New York City police officer in the choking death of Eric Garner, took to the streets, chanting, “I can’t breathe.” The crowd impeded the path of an emergency vehicle summoned to aid a 62-year-old heart attack victim who literally couldn’t breathe and died before paramedics could reach him.

Similar outrages have occurred in localities throughout the nation, prompting one state to contemplate drastic action. According to the Bismarck Tribune via the Associated Press, North Dakota’s Republican-led legislature has introduced a flurry of bills aimed at protesters of the proposed pipeline near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, one of which reads:

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/01/17/running-over-even-killing-protesters-blocking-roadways-could-soon-be-legal-in-n-dakota/

    • This several interesting components, it removes the de facto permission to block traffic and in at least one case kill a man being rushed to the hospital that has been given by slapping the people on the wrists for their criminal action.

It also shows the alt left that the conservatives are going to fight back against their attempted communist coup.

Will this cause riots? Probably but the riots would occur anyway and we need to start standing up to the bullies of the left.

Do I think this will pass and become law? No it won’t, but it will start people thinking.

  13. Viral video capturing abuse against Muslim high school student turns out to be hoax

[Author’s note – Since going to press, I have unearthed a short fragment of the original video, which appears at the end of the post.]

The grainy video, titled “Welcome to Washburn,” has been removed from social media, but not before it received 6.5 million views and 29,000 comments. Most of the comments expressed outrage over a teenage “Islamophobe” tugging at a female Muslim student’s hijab. Some were heartened by her choice to defend herself using her fists.

But what appeared to be another act of intolerance against the religion of peace turned out in fact to be a another hoax. According to Dirk Tedmon, a spokesman for the Minneapolis school district, which includes Washburn High School, the families of the two actors in the video confirmed that the two are actually friends and that the clip was intended as a “joke.” An excellent one, I might add.

According to the StarTribune, when Tedmon was asked if the “pranksters” face disciplinary action, he responded that such information is not public, adding:

  14. US military boosts weapons airdrops to Syrian opposition – reports (sputniknews, Jan 17, 2017)
    https://www.rt.com/usa/373972-us-weapons-syria-rebels/

“A growing number of opposition groups in Syria are getting increased weapons and ammunition supplies from the US Air Force to tackle Islamic State, according to US media reports citing the country’s military.

The weapons are intended for opposition forces closing in on IS’s self-proclaimed capital Raqqa in Syria, USA Today reports.

The “expanded” airdrops are “helping ground forces take the offensive to [the Islamic State] and efforts to retake Raqqa,” Gen. Carlton Everhart, commander of the US Air Mobility Command, is quoted by the news outlet.

Currently, the Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) – an alliance of various militias, mainly formed by Kurdish fighters – is continuing its push to retake territories around Raqqa. SDF is among key opposition forces being backed by the US-led international coalition in Syria.

The weapons supplies “are absolutely essential” for the irregular forces fighting on the ground, the US Air Force spokesman in Baghdad Col. John Dorrian claimed, according to USA Today.

Meanwhile, Everhart reportedly claimed that the US military is being extremely precise while delivering arms and equipment to the opposition in Syria. “We’ll get it within 10 or 15 meters of the mark,” he said.

The US-led coalition has been repeatedly conducting military airdrops for the opposition groups in Syria. However, such missions have not always gone according to plan…”

  15. Australia Day billboard image showing women in hijabs taken down after threats of violence

MEMBERS of far right social media groups are celebrating a win for “people power” after an Australia Day billboard depicting two Muslim women was hastily pulled following an Islamophobia-fuelled outcry.

Social media erupted after a picture of the billboard began circulating last Friday, with many Facebook users slamming the Melbourne freeway advertisement as “un-Australian”.

On Tuesday, Victorian Multicultural Affairs Minister Robin Scott revealed the image would be removed, after the company behind the ad, QMS, received threats.

But he warned the issuers of the threats not to take the action as a win.

“Anyone who considers this a victory needs a refresher on the true meaning of Australia Day,” Mr Scott said.

However, members of far right Facebook groups — many of whom had earlier lamented the depiction of two women in hijabs front of an Australian flag was the ultimate insult to our country’s scared, national day — were quick to celebrate.[…]

  16. Amnesty: EU anti-terrorism laws ‘draconian & disproportionate,’ target Muslims, refugees (RT, Jan 17, 2017)
    https://www.rt.com/news/373952-draconian-eu-laws-muslims/

“New counterterrorism laws adopted in 14 EU nations discriminate against Muslims and refugees, expose people to unchecked government surveillance, and drive Europe into a “deep and dangerous state of permanent securitization,” Amnesty International said.

“In the wake of a series of appalling attacks, from Paris to Berlin, governments have rushed through a raft of disproportionate and discriminatory laws,” John Dalhuisen, Amnesty International’s director for Europe, said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Taken alone these individual counterterrorism measures are worrying enough, but when seen together, a disturbing picture emerges in which unchecked powers are trampling freedoms that have long been taken for granted,” he added.

The human rights watchdog’s latest report states that “discriminatory measures have had a disproportionate and profoundly negative impact on Muslims, foreign nationals or people perceived to be Muslim or foreign.”

Discriminatory action by EU member states has been widely perceived as “acceptable” in the national security context, Amnesty said. In several countries, proposed or already adopted counterterrorism measures “have eroded the rule of law, enhanced executive powers, peeled away judicial controls, restricted freedom of expression and exposed everyone to unchecked government surveillance,” it added.

“EU governments are using counterterrorism measures to consolidate draconian powers, target groups in discriminatory ways and strip away human rights under the guise of defending them. We are in danger of creating societies in which liberty becomes the exception and fear the rule,” Dalhuisen noted. He added that governments should provide security for people to enjoy their rights rather than “restrict people’s rights in the name of security.”

Amnesty says that migrants, refugees, human rights activists and minority groups have been especially targeted by new powers mainly due to the “outright misuse of laws” that define terrorism very loosely.

Many EU member states have tried to draw parallels between the current refugee crisis and the threat of terrorism. In November, a Hungarian court sentenced Ahmed H, a Syrian national residing in Cyprus, to 10 years in prison for committing an “act of terror” that consisted of throwing stones and communicating with a crowd through a megaphone during clashes with border police. While the man admitted stone throwing, footage showed he had also been trying to calm the crowd, Amnesty said.

“Our lives have been turned upside down,” Ahmed’s wife, Nadia, told the human rights watchdog. “We miss Ahmed and we are scared for him,” she added.

Men, women and children have been verbally and physically abused; passengers have been removed from planes because they allegedly “looked like a terrorist”; women have been banned from wearing a full body swimsuit on the beach in France; refugee children in Greece have been arrested for playing with plastic guns, Amnesty noted.

The 70-page report is based on over two years’ research.

Amnesty researchers gathered information on legislative developments in 14 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and the UK.

One of the most alarming developments across the EU is an attempt by governments to make it easier to impose and prolong a “state of emergency,” citing it as a response to terrorism or the threat of violent attacks, Amnesty said.

“In a number of states, emergency measures that are supposed to be temporary have become embedded in ordinary criminal law. Powers intended to be exceptional are appearing more and more as permanent features of national law.”

In France, a state of emergency has been renewed five times, with a range of intrusive measures, including the power to ban demonstrations and conduct searches without warrants, Amnesty noted. Initially, the state of emergency was introduced by President Francois Hollande immediately following the Paris attacks on November 13, 2015.

Mass surveillance powers have been launched or expanded in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands, “allowing the mass interception of and possible access to the data of millions of people,” the report stated.

Unsupervised targeted surveillance has also been “massively expanded,” Amnesty warned, citing Poland’s 2016 Counter-terrorism Law as an example.

The Polish parliament approved a bill last June to amend the country’s counter-terrorism laws, giving authorities more flexibility in monitoring the movements of foreign citizens without court approval, and allowing the holding of suspects without charges for up to two weeks. Under the bill, Poland’s state security service is allowed to conduct surveillance of foreign citizens for up to three months without prior court approval.”

  17. The Australia Day lamb ad that doesn’t mention Australia Day

IT’S the Australia Day ad campaign which doesn’t mention Australia Day, and it’s been dubbed the most political lamb ad to date.

Meat and Livestock Australia’s (MLA) annual lamb campaigns have gained a cult following, and the one launched this morning is no exception, pushing lamb as “the most multicultural meat”.

Eschewing the use of the words “Australia Day”, the ad celebrates modern multiculturalism, recreating the settlement of Australia and poses the question “Aren’t we all boat people?”

The ad opens on an Aussie beach, with two indigenous Australians preparing to light up a barbie.

Some European settlers arrive via boat and join the party, followed rapidly by a sea of new revellers including the First Fleet, the French, the Russians, Chinese, Greeks, Italians all the way up to our most recent migrants, all bearing gifts and food to add flavour to the celebrations.[…]

    • BREITBART – BBC Slams President-Elect: ‘Fake News’ Trump is Putin’s ‘Useful Idiot’

Accusing the President-elect and top members of his team of being under Russian influence, a Panorama documentary from the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) John Sweeney has gone big on last week’s Russian dossier allegations and created a narrative of Russian influence forging a fragile Trump-Putin “bromance”.

In ‘Trump: The Kremlin Candidate?’, Panorama called on expert witnesses including the Washington Post’s enthusiastic anti-Trump cheerleader Anne Applebaum and forecasts a violent presidency which may lead the world to nuclear war, because of Mr. Trump’s re-conciliatory approach to nuclear-power Russia.

Taking throw-away comments by Russian leader Putin such as “no-one believed that [Trump] would win, except for us” — as implied evidence of Russian control of the U.S. presidential election, the BBC gave significant airtime to the supposed intelligence dossier splashed by Buzzfeed and CNN last week. Despite repeatedly admitting that there’s no evidence to support the information and that “the dossier is completely unverified, Trump denies everything”, Sweeney leaves the question of the truth of the relationship between what he called the “butch sweethearts” open-ended.

Before cutting to the Democratic National Convention’s (DNC) private cyber security consultant Dmitri Alperovitch, who tells Mr. Sweeney that he had a “high degree of confidence this was indeed Russian intelligence” over the DNC hacks, he muses: “Is the dossier fiction, fact, or a bit of both? In the shadowy world of freelance intelligence, that is unknowable — for now.”

Building the narrative of Russian influence over President-Elect Trump, Sweeney notes that his secretary of state once had business dealings as an energy executive with Russia — one of the world’s largest energy exporters — and that his national security advisor General Michael Flynn once sat next to Vladimir Putin at a Russia Today dinner.

Turning to Stephen K. Bannon, Donald Trump’s Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor who is presently on leave of absence as Breitbart’s Executive Chairman, Sweeney admitted the BBC had been unable to dig up any evidence of business dealings with Russia. 18. RT – Trump: Kremlin Candidate?’: BBC doc becomes MSM manual to ‘verified’ journalism

The BBC’s flagship current affairs programme has aired an edition on the alleged financial ties between U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. It also reports on whether Russia played a key role in Trump’s election success. Making its assumptions very clear, the BBC called the programme ‘The ‘Kremlin Candidate’. RT’s Ilya Petrenko explains how pulling-in the viewers often means rolling with the rumours.

    • Russia: ‘Worse than prostitutes’ – Putin slams Trump rumour-mongers

Russian President Vladimir Putin scorned people who “make-up such falsifications that are currently spread about the US President-elect,” saying they were “worse than prostitutes,” during a joint press conference with his Moldovan counterpart Igor Dodon, in Moscow, Monday.

SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): “You know, there is a category of people who leave without saying goodbye, out of respect for the present situation and in order not to disturb anything. But there are people who are endlessly bidding farewells but do not leave. In my opinion, the outgoing US administration falls in the second category. We can see a major continuation of the political fight in the US despite the fact that the political elections are finished and they ended with a convincing victory of Mr. Trump.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): “I am not acquainted with Mr. Trump, I have not met him, I do not know what he will do in the international arena so I have no reason either to attack him, criticise him for something or defend him. We will not even address the Nobel Committee asking to reward him with a Nobel prize for mathematics, physics or some other subject. I do not have any reason to do so. But these false stories are utter nonsense.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): “When Trump came to Moscow a few years ago, he was not a politician and we did not know about his political ambitions. He was a businessman, one of the rich people in America. Does anyone really think that our security services chase every American billionaire? Of course not, it is complete nonsense.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): “Trump arrived [in Moscow] and immediately went to meet with the Moscow prostitutes? First, he is a grown man and secondly, he is a man who was engaged in the organisation of beauty contests and communicated with the most beautiful women in the world for many years. You know, I can hardly imagine that he ran into a hotel to meet with our girls with low social responsibility.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): “You know, there is something I would like to say. Prostitution is a serious, ugly social phenomenon because many women are involved in it as they have no other way to provide themselves. And it is pretty much the fault of the society and the state. But people who make-up such falsifications that are currently spread about the US President-elect, that are invented and used in the political struggle, those people are worse than prostitutes. They have no moral restraints.”

    • My opinion a political operative given a critical post in the intelligence agencies lying about the incoming President to damage him. After all he was one of the people rewriting the intelligence assessments to fit what Obama was saying.

    • Who does this idiot think are committing the terror attacks? How many innocent victims have to be murdered before she will admit that they need to watch the Moslems?

  20. The Islamization of France in 2016
“France has a problem with Islam”

    by Soeren Kern
    January 17, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9791/france-islamization

The Muslim population of France was approximately 6.5 million in 2016, or around 10% of the overall population of 66 million. In real terms, France has the largest Muslim population in the European Union, just above Germany.

Although French law prohibits the collection of official statistics about the race or religion of its citizens, Gatestone Institute’s estimate of France’s Muslim population is based on several studies that attempted to calculate the number of people in France whose origins are from Muslim-majority countries.

What follows is a chronological review of some of the main stories about the rise of Islam in France during 2016:

    JANUARY 2016

January 1. The Interior Ministry announced the most anticipated statistic of the year: a total of 804 cars and trucks were torched across France on New Year’s Eve, a 14.5% decrease from the 940 vehicles burned during the annual ritual on the same holiday in 2015. Car burnings, commonplace in France, are often attributed to rival Muslim gangs that compete with each other for the media spotlight over which can cause the most destruction. An estimated 40,000 cars are burned in France every year.

January 3. Raouf El Ayeb, a 31-year-old French citizen of Tunisian origin, was charged with attempted homicide after he tried to run down four troops who were guarding a mosque in Valence. Although police found “jihadist propaganda images” on Ayeb’s computer, they attributed the attack to “depressive syndrome” rather than terrorism because he was not heard shouting “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the greatest) during the attack.

January 7. Sallah Ali, a Moroccan born French citizen, stormed a police station in the 18th district of Paris while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” He was carrying a butcher knife, and Islamic State flag and was wearing what appeared to be an explosive belt. Police opened fire and shot him dead. The belt was found to contain fake explosives. Investigators were unsure whether the attack was an act of terrorism or the work of a man who was “unbalanced.”

  21. AFP – Venezuelan president denounces “hate campaign” against Trump

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro denounces what he calls a “hate campaign” against US President-elect Donald Trump and says his administration would not be “worse” than Barack Obama’s.

  22. The “Peace Conference”: An Outright Admission of Failure

    by Shoshana Bryen
    January 17, 2017 at 4:30 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9790/paris-peace-conference-failure

The Paris Peace Conference was not as bad as it could have been. The British and Russian governments sent low level delegations. Some of the wording in UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2334 disappeared, and the assembled agreed to resolve “all permanent status issues on the basis of United Nations Security Council resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973), and also recalled relevant Security Council resolutions.” Resolution 242 is the benchmark for Israel’s security requirements and its right to legitimacy and permanence in the region. And “recalling” is somewhat different from “planning to enforce.”

Most interesting, however, is a three-part section toward the end. The mostly-European plus American gathering:

  23. BREITBART – GERMANY – Greens Demand Media Blackout of ‘Populist’ Police Union Chief Who Spoke Out Against Migrant Crisis

Union chief Rainer Wendt is the “Donald Trump of the German police” and should be banished from the airwaves, according to Green Party Police Vice President Oliver von Dobrowolski.

Von Dobrowolski, a Berlin-based detective whose organisation represents Green Party backing police officers, has set up a petition which calls for a media blackout on the police union boss, who he blasts for making statements that are “deliberately populist”.

The appeal, hosted on Change.org, says “members of marginalised groups” are upset by appearances by the police union chief, and warns that exposure to Wendt’s views could cause Germans to “develop a misplaced fear of crime”.

Addressed “in particular [to] the broadcasting corporations and newspapers”, the petition demands the German media stop providing a platform for the union chief to voice “opinions on police issues and internal security policy”.

In the last 18 months, Wendt has become known for the forthright manner in which he’s sounded the alarm on some of the policing dilemmas the country faces resulting from the arrival of almost two million people since 2015.

Wendt’s belief that the mass influx of Middle Eastern and North African migrants is linked to the number of security issues Germany now faces is one of the reasons the petition states why the union boss is unfit to appear on television.

“Furthermore”, it continues, “[Wendt] has demanded rubber bullets be used against protesters, called for a fence to be built along the German border to ward off migrant flows, and made statements regarding the existence of an alleged macho culture among young Muslims”.

Another cause for concern, according to the appeal, is that Wendt has given interviews to media outlets that the petition states are “suspected of having a readership which includes people who are openly right wing and conspiracy theory-minded”.

Statements by the police union chief “generate a false picture of threat”, and are likely to lead Germans to “develop a misplaced fear of crime”, the petition says. It also alleges that Wendt’s views are ‘repellent’ to “a large part of the mainstream” as well as, “in particular, members of marginalised groups”.

The trade unionist told Junge Freiheit, a conservative weekly magazine which was among the supposedly “dubious” outlets named in the appeal, that he “laughed heartily” upon reading the Change.org petition.

Left wing politicians reacted with anger last week after Wendt blasted the leniency of Germany’s criminal justice system as a “joke”. Social Democratic Party deputy Ralf Stegner called the union boss a “ right wing populist loudspeaker with no substance”.

  24. CNN – Fort Lauderdale shooter says he carried out attack for ISIS, FBI claims

Esteban Santiago, the man charged with killing five people at the Fort Lauderdale airport, told FBI agents he carried out the attack on behalf of ISIS, FBI special agent Michael Ferlazzo testified at Santiago’s bond hearing Tuesday.
The agent did not elaborate on whether Santiago was purporting to be linked to ISIS or simply inspired by the terrorist organization.

Federal authorities in Alaska said Santiago told them prior to the attack that he was hearing voices and that his mind was being controlled by the CIA. Santiago made no such claim during the six-hour interview conducted shortly after the January 6 shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Ferlazzo testified.

ISIS has not claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ferlazzo, who conducted the interview, said only that Santiago claimed to be fighting for ISIS and that he’d been in touch with like-minded people via jihadi chat rooms who were planning attacks as well.
Santiago is charged with using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; performing an act of violence against a person at an airport serving international civil aviation that caused serious bodily injury; and causing the death of a person through the use of a firearm.
The latter two are punishable by death, while the first charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Authorities have said that Santiago confessed to the mass shooting, which they said he perpetrated after disembarking a plane from Anchorage and collecting a checked bag containing a Walther 9-millimeter pistol and two magazines.
How did Santiago get his gun back?
At Tuesday’s hearing, the defense did not argue the prosecution’s assertion that Santiago posed a flight risk, as well as a danger to the community, and said that the defendant was prepared to be detained throughout his trial.
The judge ruled he be held without bond. His next court appearance is January 30.

  25. NYT – French Candidate Valls Lightly Slapped During Campaign Stop

PARIS — Former French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has been seen getting lightly slapped on the chin by a young man during a presidential campaign stop in the western region of Brittany.

A video posted on the website of local newspaper Le Telegramme Tuesday showed Valls emerging from a building to applause from a small group of people in the city of Lamballe.

Valls walks toward the crowd shaking hands. At one point, a young man wearing a purple sweatshirt is seen shaking the Socialist candidate’s hand and then with the same hand, giving Valls a small slap on the lower face.

A bodyguard at the candidate’s side immediately clamped the man to the ground.

Valls resigned as prime minister last month to run in this month’s Socialist presidential primary.

reuters – Youth wrestled to ground after trying to slap French ex-PM Valls

A youth reached out apparently to slap former prime minister Manuel Valls when he was on an election tour in France’s Brittany region on Tuesday and was wrestled to the ground by a security guard, a video by local media showed.

Valls, 54, who was walking past a group of people in the town of Lamballe after coming out of the municipal offices, appeared to first shake hands with the youth who said something and then appeared to try to slap the former prime minister.

As Valls recoiled, a security guard seized the youth, in a choke-hold, pushed him back against a fence and then forced him to the ground, the video aired by Le Telegramme showed.

Police said later that the youth was aged 18 and had been detained.

Valls, who is running in the Left’s primaries on Sunday to be a candidate for president, did not appear to have been hurt in the incident.

Valls, speaking to local reporters shortly after the incident, said: “I have never been afraid of having contact with French people. Democracy can never mean violence.”

  26. the daily caller – 20 Former Gov’t Officials Ask Obama To Declassify Evidence On Russia Hacking Or Admit There Is None

More than 20 former government officials are calling for President Barack Obama to declassify purported evidence showing Russia hacked U.S. political institutions to support GOP President-elect Donald Trump.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Obama from Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, the signers, drawn from the intelligence, military and diplomatic community, said the White House should make the evidence clear to the public — or admit the proof on hand simply isn’t sufficient enough to tie Russia to breaches of U.S. political institutions and the outcome of the election.

“As President for a few more days, you have the power to demand concrete evidence of a link between the Russians and WikiLeaks, which published the bulk of the information in question,” the letter begins. “Lacking that evidence, the American people should be told that there is no fire under the smoke and mirrors of recent weeks.”

The letter continued with a direct ask.

“We urge you to authorize public release of any tangible evidence that takes us beyond the unsubstantiated, “we-assess” judgments by the intelligence agencies,” the former government officials wrote. “Otherwise, we – as well as other skeptical Americans – will be left with the corrosive suspicion that the intense campaign of accusations is part of a wider attempt to discredit the Russians and those – like Mr. Trump – who wish to deal constructively with them.”

While the letter goes on to acknowledge the importance of classified sources and methods, the fact that numerous politicians and political commentators have accused Russia of an “act of war,” in particular GOP Sen. John McCain, makes it prudent to consider an exception to the rule, as other administrations have done in the past.

The former officials, for example, cited former President John F. Kennedy’s decision to declassify photos of Soviet nuclear missiles stationed in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, in order to bolster the credibility of the U.S. intelligence community.

That credibility is now on the rocks again, given Trump’s ongoing fight with these agencies, which resurfaced Monday. CIA Director John Brennan started out the day by stating Trump’s comparison of the intelligence community to Nazi Germany was “outrageous.”

Trump then fired back on Twitter and asked if Brennan himself was responsible for leaking the 35-page report full of unverified allegations about Trump’s activities in Russia to BuzzFeed. Brennan denied that charge in the evening.

Although the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report in early January to try and put away some of the skepticism surrounding Russia’s meddling with the presidential election, the report doesn’t actually contain any evidence at all and instead appears to be a circuitous way of restating the claim that the public should simply trust the intelligence community’s assessment.

But according to signers like former National Security Agency Technical Director William Binney, there should be evidence on hand that shows a transfer of data from Russia to WikiLeaks. And that evidence should either be made public, or the administration should admit there isn’t enough to support the claims of the intelligence community.

“We strongly suggest that you ask NSA for any evidence it may have indicating that the results of Russian hacking were given to WikiLeaks,” the letter stated. “If NSA can produce such evidence, you may wish to order whatever declassification may be needed and then release the evidence. This would go a long way toward allaying suspicions that no evidence exists. If NSA cannot give you that information – and quickly – this would probably mean it does not have any.”

Ten Reasons to Go Hard on January 20

The inauguration of Donald Trump is right around the corner. Disrupt J20 is publicizing a wide range of demonstrations all around the US on January 20, including a call for an anti-capitalist and anti-fascist contingent in Washington, DC.

But why focus on this particular day, of all days? And why would it be worth driving across the country to a city crowded with reactionaries and police? Here are ten reasons why we think everyone needs to pull out the stops on January 20.
    1. What is at stake here is not a single day of protest, but the paradigm of what it will mean to resist Trump.

Right now, people around the US are outraged and terrified at the prospect of being governed by a megalomaniacal buffoon. This is an opportunity to expand the networks of people who are prepared to stand up to the government, but it won’t last long. If the demonstrations are basically a rerun of the anyone-but-Bush years in which protesters simply carried signs powerlessly expressing their disapproval, everything that currently feels intolerable about a Trump presidency will be normalized soon enough. On the other hand, if the demonstrations interfere with the inauguration and the maintenance of order, that will help to normalize the kind of resistance that will be necessary to prevent Trump from implementing his agenda.

Whatever happens on January 20 will shape the popular imagination about the era we are entering. It will help to determine what people feel entitled to do, what they expect of themselves and each other, and how they conceive of the long-term horizon of social change.

Trump has benefitted from being able to portray himself as a rebel against the political establishment, a sort of billionaire underdog. This narrative is laughable already, but after January 20, when he and the Republican Party control the federal government in its entirety, there must be no confusion in anyone’s mind that they are the establishment, and the real rebels are those who defy them.

  28. Weapons Cache found in D.C. Ahead of Trump Inauguration

They were alerted to the find by a woman walking the trails near the canal. The women had found a violin case with two guns hidden within it.

When police searched the nearby area, they found another cache of both weapons and ammunition. The Park Service failed to provide specific details of the find other than saying that a number of weapons were discovered that included “long guns and pistols.”

Law enforcement said the guns and ammo were found in bags and buckets around the area.

The second cache was found approximately a quarter of a mile from the violin case in Northwest D.C., which is far from the inauguration route by D.C. standards.

    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2017/01/205989/moroccan-suspected-glorifying-terrorism-arrested-canary-islands/

“Madrid – Spain’s Civil Guard arrested, on Tuesday in Las Palmas (Canary Islands), a Moroccan national suspected of glorifying terrorism, said the Spanish Interior Ministry.

The suspect, 30, used under a pseudonym an account on a social network to express explicit support for several terrorist groups and for the spread of jihadist ideology and terror actions perpetrated in conflict zones, the same source added in a statement.

In 2015, Spanish security forces arrested a total of 182 suspected jihadists and raised its terrorism threat level to 4 (on a scale of 5).”

“PLANS for the first of a new wave of large asylum screening centres across the UK were last night approved despite major public opposition.

The huge former Lilycross Care Centre, on the outskirts of Widnes, in Cheshire, can now be transformed into an asylum centre for up to 120 refugees at any one time, despite being in the green belt and 600 metres from a new estate of £500,000 homes.

It is believed to be the first of a new wave of super asylum screening centres planned across the country, to meet rising immigration levels, by government contractor Serco that has been approved.

Residents in Widnes were horrified to learn in August that Lilycross Homes Ltd, which owns the former care home, had applied to turn it into an “asylum hotel”, for refugees who will stay for around four weeks each, while their applications are screened by the Home Office and they are found more permanent homes.

There have been several protests outside the building and a vocal UKIP-backed campaign on Facebook and other social media.

The plans were approved by councillors on Halton Council last night in the face of public opposition, as around 80 people demonstrated outside…”

The “fighters” described as “executioners, gravediggers, suicide bombers and jailers” could be back in mainland Europe in the coming weeks.

Top level meetings are being planned by senior Government officials over fears the ISIS operatives could unleash more terror in France which is still in a state of emergency…”

  32. HORROR ON PARIS STREETS: Mob with axes, swords and baseball bats terrorise neighbourhood (express, Jan 17, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/755283/Paris-street-horror-mob-terrorise-neighbourhood-axes-swords-baseball-bats

“A GANG of up to 30 youths armed with axes, swords and baseball bats terrorised a southern Paris neighbourhood on Saturday night for “reasons that remain unclear,” French police said.

Eleven youths aged between 17 and 22 were arrested over the attacks and taken into custody. Their alleged accomplices, however, got away and are yet to be identified by police.

The masked attackers – who are said to have arrived by bus – ran amok in a residential area in Juvisy-sur-Orge, a tranquil suburb south of Paris, at around 8pm on Saturday.

But it took more than one hour for police to arrive at the scene, by which time the youths had smashed and vandalised more than 20 cars and broken down the door of a nearby apartment block.

Once inside the block of flats, they broke into a flat – which they ransacked – and “threatened to kill” a young father who had been watching television with his 16-month-old daughter when the mob stormed into his home.

The terrified dad said: “There were more than 15 people outside my door. They tried to kick the door down and I could hear them screaming ‘Let us in or we’re going to kill you!’

“I tried to hide my daughter but it was too late. They stormed in brandishing axes, swords, and machetes. I braced myself for the worst.”

But police believe the youths broke into the wrong apartment and “targeted the wrong victim”.

Robin Reda, the right-wing mayor of Juvisy-sur-Orge, condemned the “urban guerrilla attack,” and said that the incident was probably linked to a “feud” between two rival gangs.

A stunned Mr Reda told the French daily Le Figaro that the attack was a “gratuitous act of violence,” and that Juvisy-sur-Orge locals had been left “shocked and traumatised”…”
