A WOMAN feared for her life when she was carjacked by a gang of men while on her way to get dog food in Brighton overnight.
Danielle, who did not provide a surname, said she was punched in the face by four men after being followed in her car along St Kilda St, Brighton.
“I literally went out to get some dog food late last night … when I noticed there was a car tailing me,” she told 3AW.
Danielle, who was driving a rental Toyota Corolla, tried to lose the group by turning into a backstreet.
“I drove so fast so I could get some … distance between us, I drove into a side street, I jumped out of the car and ran into a house. That’s when they jumped me, punched me and grabbed the keys from me.”
Moments later the same group of men carjacked another woman nearby.
The stolen Toyota Corolla collided with a Holden Statesman at the intersection of Glen Huntly Rd and St Kilda St, in Elwood.
The driver of the Holden, a 55-year-old Eltham woman, was luckily not hurt.
But the gang didn’t stop to check on her; they instead drove off with her car.
“I’m so scared, I’ve never been so scared in my life,” Danielle added.
Danielle feared carjackings in Melbourne were getting worse.
“It’s getting worse and worse and it’s happening so often now,” she said.
“We live in Melbourne, not in Johannesburg. It’s becoming the norm and this is ridiculous.”
Victoria Police spokesman Luke Zammit said the male driving the Corolla left that car and fled in the Holden.“All offenders are perceived to be of African appearance,” Mr Zammit said. “of African appearance”.

Havana hails end to special US immigration policy for Cubans
HAVANA (AP) — The Cuban government hailed President Barack Obama’s decision ending automatic legal residency for any Cuban who touches U.S. soil, while ordinary citizens mourned the end of an easy pathway to a new life in the United States.
Average Cubans and opponents of the island’s communist leaders said they expected pressure for reform to increase with the elimination of a mechanism that siphoned off the island’s most dissatisfied citizens and turned them into sources of remittances supporting relatives who remained on the island.
The repeal of the “wet foot, dry foot” policy went into effect immediately after a Thursday afternoon announcement. It followed months of negotiations focused in part on getting Cuba to agree to take back people who had arrived in the U.S.
Cubans fearful of an imminent end to a special immigration status bestowed during the Cold War had been flocking to the United States since the Dec. 17, 2014 announcement that the U.S. and Cuba would re-establish diplomatic relations and move toward normalization. About 100,000 left for the United States after the declaration of detente, many flooding overland through South and Central America and Mexico in an exodus that irritated U.S. allies and other immigrant groups and spawned bitter complaints from the Cuban government.

Cuban Jose Enrique Manreza, who sold his house and belongings to embark on a epic journey by plane, bus and on foot in pursuit of the American dream, is now stranded in a Mexican border town after Washington abruptly ended a lenient immigration policy.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday repealed a measure granting automatic residency to virtually every Cuban who arrived in the United States, whether or not they had visas, ending a longstanding exception to U.S. policy.
The end of the “wet foot, dry foot” policy, which allowed any Cuban who reached U.S. soil to stay, but returned any picked up at sea, took effect immediately.
“Imagine how I feel, after I spent six days and six nights running through rivers and jungles in the humidity,” said Manreza, at a migrant shelter in the southern Mexican city of Tapachula, where he heard the news, along with 30 other Cubans.
Manreza estimated he had spent about $10,000 on his trip, including a flight to French Guiana, guides through South America and bribes to fend off aggressors who tried to abuse his daughter on the journey.

Chinese state media tells Donald Trump’s team to ‘prepare for military clash’
Follows Rex Tillerson’s South China Sea comments during confirmation hearing
The US should “prepare for a military clash”, a state run Chinese tabloid newspaper has warned.
Less than 24 hours after US Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson appeared to call for a blockade of South China Sea islands, a strongly-worded English editorial in the Global Times accused the former ExxonMobil chief executive of “rabble-rousing”.
He “had better bone up on nuclear power strategies if he wants to force a big nuclear power to withdraw from its own territories”, the paper, which is known for writing hawkish editorials, said. However, despite being state run, it does not necessarily reflect government policy.
In its first response to Mr Tillerson’s comments, China’s foreign ministry stressed the importance of mutual respect and cooperation with the US.

Agreed. Red China remains the proverbial (military and economic) paper tiger that is vulnerable in the extreme. Or, at least they are for the near future. Much as with Iran, Communist China is long overdue for a hard Yank (so to speak) on its chain. Even a delay of just five years (with respect to either country) could see a dramatic, and undesirable, outcome to this situation.
If America found a covert way to expedite the bursting of Red China’s gigantic real estate bubble, that alone could catastrophically collapse their playing card pagoda. Currently, we are doing this bass-ackwards by allowing Chinese citizens to purchase real estate in America.

As an anecdotal example of this capital flight, a real estate agent I know has told of Chinese buyers arriving at the showings of exclusive Silicon Valley properties lugging suitcases of cash and immediately overbidding by 10% above the asking price.
Finally, there is no irony in lumping together Communist China and Iran—along with North Korea playing a minor but definitely destabilizing role in the East Asian quadrant—seeing as how Red China and Islam represent the two most virulent threats to global well-being.
Saddest of all is how there is so little likelihood (restive ethnic Uighur population notwithstanding) of a “let’s you and him fight” situation where America relaxes—bowl of hot buttered popcorn in hand—whilst Communist China and Islam really start going at each other hammer and tongs. Instead, between its dependence on Iranian oil and continuous arms sales to terrorist entities, there are small odds of such “destructive interference” (to use optics terminology) happening anytime soon. Sigh.
I am not sure. The most important thing for ruling Chinese Communist Party is to keep on ruling. If they will see that the economic situation will result in ending of their rule they may decide to go to war. And because the Chinese have different mentality then Westerners (just look what happened during Mao era) majority of Chinese may support the decision, particularly if Communist party will say that it was USA who started the war.
N.S.A. Gets More Latitude to Share Intercepted Communications
WASHINGTON — In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government’s 16 other intelligence agencies before applying privacy protections.
The new rules significantly relax longstanding limits on what the N.S.A. may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations, which are largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. These include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches.
The change means that far more officials will be searching through raw data. Essentially, the government is reducing the risk that the N.S.A. will fail to recognize that a piece of information would be valuable to another agency, but increasing the risk that officials will see private information about innocent people.

Anyone who wishes to gain a slight understanding of the NSA—whose acronym, within the intelligence community, is jokingly said to mean, “No Such Agency”—may wish to consider reading author James Bamford’s amazingly detailed book, “The Puzzle Palace“.
Immediately upon publication, the NSA’s first response was to launch an investigation of Bamford. As an example of the secrecy surrounding this organization, ever since its awkward inception in 1951, the NSA’s declared charter remains classified.
Rather telling is this aside from the Wikipedia entry:

My friends that worked directly with Seymour Cray have confirmed this allegation. Essentially, the NSA can crack almost any code. The sole problem being whether or not the information thus obtained will be of any use by the time it has been deciphered.

Paris conference on ‘Middle East peace’: Will Obama’s final week in office be the weirdest?

It’s a remarkable time to be alive. The affairs of men seem to be in the grip of some bizarre energumen, predictable only in the sense that we can count on strange interludes and stranger outcomes. These are not the conditions one would prefer to face a French-sponsored conference on “Middle East peace” in.
But here we are. France is hosting the conference on Sunday, 15 January. Some 70 nations are to send high-level representatives – including the U.S., which is sending John Kerry. When the conference is over he will have less than 120 hours left in office. It’s certain that his presumed successor, Rex Tillerson, and President Trump will take office next Friday with a substantially different perspective on the conference’s topic, Israel and the Palestinian Arabs. But France is determined to hold the conference now, and the Obama administration is determined to participate as if it has discretion over the future of U.S. policy at this point.
Notably, French President Francois Hollande is also on the way out. He will step down in May, after France’s national election, and it’s very likely that his old-guard socialist government will be replaced by a much different, more right-wing government.

AUSTRALIA – Vic imam, man charged over child marriage
A man, 34, has been charged with sexually assaulting his child “bride” and a Melbourne Muslim cleric is accused of the girl’s forced marriage.
The assault is alleged to have occured less than two days after, the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday.
Mohammad Shakir of Springvale, is charged with being a party to a forced marriage and sexually penetrating a child under 16, between September 30 and October 1 last year. He faced court via videolink.
Imam Ibrahim Omerdic, 61, is charged with conduct that caused a minor to enter into a forced marriage at Noble Park on September 29 last year.
A DVD of the ceremony being conducted at a mosque may form part of the evidence, the court was told.
Omerdic’s bail was continued and Shakir was further remanded in custody until the case resumes on February 3.

He was not driven by socioeconomic deprivation or nationalist sentiment. He enjoyed complete freedom of movement and received the same social and economic benefits as Jewish residents of Jerusalem.
From a jihadi point of view, there is no difference between terrorism in Berlin, Nice, or Jerusalem. Palestinian jihadis and their fellow travelers in ISIS, al-Qaeda, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham in Syria, Hamas, Iran’s IRGC and its Hizbullah proxy have declared that Islamic terrorism against Europe and Israel stems from the same radical roots and aims for the same extremist end: exclusive Islamic sovereignty across the lands of the Near East and ultimately the world.

Palestinian Authority/Fatah leaders forget that the people lean toward Hamas not because they love it, but because they hate what the Fatah movement does – which only gets worse by the day.
The Palestinian citizen suffers from ugly terror if he expresses an opinion that is opposed to that of the PA, or insists on his rights before an official or has refused to pay a bribe to a senior official, his sons, or his bodyguards.
The citizen wonders – is he supposed to pay the extortion money to the members of the Fatah Executive Committee, or to the members of the Fatah Central Committee, or to their sons, when he does not have the wherewithal to protect himself from their evil and from the evil of their sons, their bodyguards, and Fatah?
I demand of the international legal organizations that pretend to defend human rights, the states of the European Union, and the United States, the great economic and rhetorical supporter of the PA, and even of the United Nations, which has a commitment to human rights, to set up investigatory committees on the irregularities of the Palestinian Authority.
The security apparatus of the PA and the Fatah movement has been committing crimes against the Palestinian people, which reach the level of crimes against humanity, for half a century – and the crimes continue. I still have never heard of any settler, Israeli soldier, or Israeli officer extorting a Palestinian citizen. It is what the PA and Fatah people do.

She’s Back
The criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton is back front and center now that the FBI has released proof that her failure to safeguard state secrets caused the secrets to fall into the hands of foreign governments, some of which wish the United States ill.
Even though the case against her — which was closed and then reopened and then closed again — is old news and she obviously is no longer a candidate to become president of the United States and has been staying below the radar for the past two months, recent developments have regenerated the case.
Here is the back story.
On July 5, FBI Director James Comey announced publicly that the FBI would recommend against seeking an indictment of Clinton for espionage — the failure to safeguard state secrets that had been entrusted to her. He argued that though the case against her was strong — as secretary of state, she had been extremely careless with secrets; exposed hundreds of materials that were confidential, secret and top-secret; and used non-secure mobile devices while in the territory of hostile governments — no reasonable prosecutor would take the case.
Why was the decision of whether to prosecute Clinton left to Comey?
The FBI’s job is to gather evidence of federal crimes and to present that evidence to career prosecutors in the Department of Justice for evaluation. The FBI has numerous investigative tools available to it. One of those tools is presenting evidence to a grand jury and requesting subpoenas from it. Another is presenting evidence to a federal judge and requesting search warrants from the judge. A third is obtaining the indictment of someone who is in the inner circle of the person who is the true target of the investigation and then persuading that indicted person to become a government witness.
None of those tools was used in the Clinton case.

Obama will pardon her to prevent more investigations that will show he knew of the private server and did nothing thus aiding the exposure of classified information to our enemies.
The next question is can Obama pardon himself. I have heard respected Judges come down on both sides of that. The Constitution says that the Presdents ability to pardon people is only limited in cases of treason. Does the authorization of the use of force in the Middle East constitute a declaration of war? Iran and Syria Must Pay $178M to Family of Jewish Infant Killed in Hamas Attack, U.S. Court Rules
The Washington, D.C., District Court ruled Tuesday that Iran and Syria must pay a total of $178.5 million in damages to the family of an infant with dual American-Israeli citizenship who was killed in a terrorist attack by a member of Hamas, which is financially backed by the two countries. Chaya Zissel Braun was 3 months old when she was thrown from her stroller and killed in October 2014 in a car-ramming attack in Jerusalem.
“The criminal regimes in Tehran and Damascus are the biggest state sponsors of terrorism in the world,” said Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, an attorney who heads the Shurat HaDin Israeli Law Center and who represented the family. The case was filed in a U.S. court because the baby, her parents and grandparents all hold American citizenship.

Some 800 migrants were plucked from flimsy rubber boats on Thursday, Italy’s coast guard said, as Libya-based people smugglers took advantage of a window of good mid-winter weather to send them to sea.
Italian coast guard vessel Diciotti and two ships run by humanitarian groups, the Aquarius and the Golfo Azzurro, went to the rescue of a total of six rubber boats in international waters off the coast of Libya, the coast guard said.
Mathilde Auvillain, a spokeswoman for SOS Mediterranee which co-runs the Aquarius, said they aided a small wooden boat carrying 26 people, mostly Nigerians, on Wednesday, while 123 were taken off a rubber dinghy on Thursday.
After several days of rough seas, weather conditions improved on Wednesday evening and were expected to remain calm until Friday evening, she told Reuters by telephone.
“We are expecting another long year. There’s no sign that things are going to improve. So far this winter we have had no rest. We have not gone a full week without a rescue.”
Among the 149 rescued by the Aquarius were people from Nigeria, Sudan, Guinea, and Bangladesh, Auvillain said.
Last year a record 181,000 boat migrants, mostly from Africa, reached Italy. The majority paid Libyan people traffickers to make the journey.
With Libya still plagued by disorder and divided by rival governments and militias, it has become a safe haven for people smugglers and a dangerous place for migrants.
“The migrants are fleeing Libya as much as they are coming to Europe,” Auvillain said. Last year the Aquarius crew went to the rescue of 7,500 boat migrants, she said.
The European Union plans new measures to deter migrants crossing the Mediterranean from Libya, officials said, as Malta urged the bloc on Thursday to act to head off a surge in arrivals from the North African country.
The EU all but halted a migrant influx into Greece through a deal last year with Turkey to hold back Syrian refugees. But doing the same in Italy’s case is more problematic because of the lack of effective state authority in Libya.

The Middle East is in chaos. More than half a million people have been killed in the Syrian war and the number is rising. Bashar al-Assad’s army used chemical weapons and barrel bombs against civilians; Russia has bombed schools and hospitals.
Syrians, Christians, Yazidis, Libyans, Yemenis and Egyptians all face lethal treats. Iranian leaders still shout “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” while buying nuclear equipment with money from lifted sanctions. Turkey is sliding toward an Islamist dictatorship, and unable to stem attacks against it.
The only democratic and stable country in the region is Israel, and that is the country U.S. President Barack Obama, in the final weeks of his term, chooses to incriminate. His decision not to use the US veto in the UN Security Council, to let pass Resolution 2334, effectively sets the boundaries of a future Palestinian state. The resolution also declares all of Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem, home to the Old City, the Western Wall and the Temple Mount — the most sacred place in Judaism — “occupied Palestinian territory,” and is a declaration of war against Israel.
UNSC Resolution 2334 nullified any possibility of further negotiations, by giving the Palestinians everything in exchange for nothing — not even an insincere promise of peace. US Secretary of State John Kerry’s speech five days later confirmed Obama’s support for the resolution. Kerry, like US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, used the existence of Jewish towns and villages in Judea and Samaria as a pretext to endorse the position of Palestinian leaders, who want to ethnically cleanse Jews from these areas. But this was just a prelude.
The next act is the Orwellian-named “peace conference,” to be held in Paris on January 15. It has but one objective: to set the stage to eradicate Israel.
Women Scared As Suburban France Becomes Radicalized
Radicalization is happening through the funding of mosques by Qatar who is importing to France their radicalized version of Islam.
Recent undercover footage shows two French women’s rights activists entering a cafe in the Paris suburb of Sevran. Upon entering the cafe, the two women were shocked as they were met with hostility from the notably all-male customers.
One of the male customers told the women, “It’s best to wait outside. There are men in here … In this cafe, there is no diversity.” Another customer explained, “In this cafe, there is no mixing. We are in Sevran, not Paris. Here there is a different mentality. It is like back home.”
Women in suburbs all over France are having similar experiences. After speaking to several women in a suburb of Lyon, journalist Caroline Sinz discovered that these women who now were hiding from the public used to be the ones out protesting the status quo.
“They are afraid, they have already spoken out in many cities, and were insulted and assaulted…So now to avoid threats, and being put under pressure, they censor themselves and keep quiet,” she reported.

A patriotic’ Saudi mother offered her 22-year-old daughter to a policeman who killed a terrorist in a shootout.
A Saudi woman named Umm Ahmad decided to give her 22-year-old daughter as a gift to policeman Jubran Awaji, after she learned Awaji had shot and killed a terrorist in Riyadh.
“I immediately announced to my daughter, Alaa, who saw a video of the incident, that I was proud of this man who risked his life and I wished that he would become my son-in-law and marry her,” Umm Ahmad told media.
She said she doesn’t mind if her daughter becomes Awaji’s second or even third wife and said that her offer was genuine and sincere. She said she doesn’t want the mahr (bride price) and will pay the expenses of the marriage.
When she told her husband about the offer he said, “Have you reached such an obsession with the country and with nationalism?”
However, he approved the offer and praised the bravery of Awaji. Marriages in Saudi Arabia are illegal without the consent of a woman’s male guardian, initially her father but later on her husband.
The incident caused controversy on Saudi social media with many users condemning the incident.

A sharia judge in Damascus has expressed concern that women are taking jobs in coffee shops and restaurants, which is leading to divorce.
With men away at the front, jobs in Damascus in coffee shops and restaurants are increasingly being filled by women, according to the highest ranking sharia judge of Damascus, Muhamad Maharawi.
He stated he was displeased by this change, since he has received many files for divorce from angry husbands who do not want their wives working in these occupations.
Maharawi argued that women working in coffee shops and restaurants was not appropriate for Syrian society.
He explained the reason for this shift in female occupations was due to the fact that men, who used to work in these occupations, have now migrated leaving a hole to fill.
He said that there are many jobs hat are not problematic for women and which are not prohibited under sharia law, noting that the principle which a sharia judge ought to use when considering whether or not an occupation is suitable for a woman is whether or not by working there the woman would damage their husband.
Traditional roles have a large influence in decision-making in these cases. In some areas of Syria, women working in these jobs is not considered damaging to their husband or society, he said, whereas in other areas it is. Therefore, it is very important to know each area.

Changing Partisan Views of Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
In a national survey of 1,502 adults conducted on Jan. 4-9, 2017, 51% said they sympathized more with Israel and 19% sympathized more with the Palestinians.
However, for the first time in Pew Research Center surveys, Democrats are about as likely to sympathize with Palestinians (31%) as with Israel (33%).
The share of Democrats who say they sympathize more with Israel is down 10 points from April 2016, though the share who say they sympathize more with the Palestinians is little changed from last April (29%), but is up significantly from July 2014 when 17% said they sympathized more with the Palestinians.
Republicans continue to overwhelmingly say they sympathize more with Israel (74%) than the Palestinians (11%), up from 57% in 2005.
Among liberal Democrats, 38% now say they sympathize more with the Palestinians than with Israel (26%).
By contrast, 42% of conservative and moderate Democrats say they sympathize more with Israel than the Palestinians (25%). However, the share of conservative and moderate Democrats who say they sympathize more with Israel is down 11 points since April 2016.

According to Gallup, the average presidential honeymoon lasts seven months. This is a window when the losing party declares a partisan peace, allows the incoming president to pick his cabinet and launch the agenda his victory mandates. Presidential honeymoons are not only a venerable American tradition they are one of democracy’s pillars. For generations they have been ceremonial supports for the peaceful transition of power, and the peaceful resolution of partisan conflicts.
Not this election year. There will be no honeymoon. This year even before Trump arrives in the Oval Office, the opposition cry has been Resist! Block! Reject! It is not just anti-American radicals like Michael Moore, who has indeed called for “100 days of resistance” to the Trump presidency, but by the leadership of the Democratic Party which has vowed to fight Trump’s appointments, has attacked the election result as an expression of popular racism, attempted to discredit the Electoral College by falsely calling it a legacy of slavery, and even accused Trump of being a Russian agent, a pawn in the chess game of its dictator Vladimir Putin. It is a sad day for America when the world’s oldest political party, whose name proclaims it a partisan of democracy, comes out in force as a saboteur of that same system.
Nor is all this simply a fit of Democratic absent-mindedness. Instead, it is the culmination of a long developing shift in Democratic Party politics, a shift symbolized by the current favorite to become its next leader. Keith Ellison is a Muslim radical who spent his formative adult years as a vocal supporter of the anti-American, anti-Semitic racist Louis Farrakhan. Ellison reflects the power of the Bernie Sanders radicals in the Democratic Party who according to recent Gallup polls now represent its majority, even though they lost a rigged primary election which would have made him the party’s presidential nominee.

As a final sop to his friends and fans in Communist Cuba, President Obama yesterday abruptly ended the two decade-old compassionate immigration policy that allowed any Cuban who made it to U.S. soil to remain in this country and become a legal resident.
This middle finger to the Cuban community is likely part of a series of last-minute policy changes Obama makes on his way out of office. In addition to an expected avalanche of eleventh-hour executive orders and regulations, media reports indicate the White House is seriously considering commuting the 35-year prison term handed out to traitor Bradley Manning for leaking classified documents. Other possible clemency recipients include Hillary Clinton, Bowe Bergdahl, Edward Snowden, and terrorist Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as the Blind Sheikh.
Cubans remain desperate to escape their miserable, impoverished nation and get into the United States. Since October 2012, more than 118,000 Cubans have shown up at border ports of entry, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The 118,000 figure includes more than 48,000 people who presented themselves at the border between October 2015 and November 2016.
Obama moved after reportedly reaching an agreement with Cuban officials Thursday.

He won in the more mainstream Orthodox Jewish communities of Flatbush. He won by huge margins among the Russian Jewish immigrants of Brighton Beach who listen to a man dubbed the “Russian Rush Limbaugh.”
As the left-wing Forward put it, “Nearly every election district that Trump won in Brooklyn was in a Jewish neighborhood.” But it was a certain type of Jewish neighborhood. The wrong type.

End the UNRWA Farce
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), with its $1.3 billion budget (30% of which comes from U.S. taxpayers), actually perpetuates the refugee problem it was created to solve, while promoting Palestinian rejectionism and Jew hatred.
The original 700,000 Palestinians leaving Israel have now been magically transformed into 5.6 million “refugees” registered with UNRWA, about half of all the Palestinians living in the world today. The “temporary” UN agency has been transformed into a bloated bureaucracy with a staff of 30,000, almost all of whom are Palestinians (many are activists of Hamas, the Islamist terrorist group). Less than 5% of UNRWA’s clients ever lived in Israel, but the agency’s regulations state that all patrilineal descendants of the original displaced persons shall retain their refugee rights in perpetuity.

UN Should Tell Palestinians to Give Up Claims to Israeli Territory
The UN Security Council last month passed Resolution 2334, which contradicts UN Resolution 242 from 1967 and essentially gives all of the West Bank to the Palestinians. If Israelis cannot lay claim to the West Bank, then Palestinians cannot lay claim to Israeli territory. Secretary of State John Kerry and participants of the coming peace conference in Paris must affirm such a resolution as strongly as they did the UN one.
Those who have witnessed the chants of “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” at anti-Israel demonstrations know that the Palestinians have not abandoned their claims to Israel west of the Green Line. The most flagrant manifestation of these Palestinian claims is the insistence that the Arabs who were displaced during the 1947-49 war, and their millions of descendants, possess a “right of return” to the State of Israel.
Yet to insist on this “right” means to deprive the Jewish people of their state and subject them again to the status of an oppressed minority – their historical position in Arab lands.
Particularly, the resolution should affirm, using the same language as Resolution 2334, that any claims of Palestine and of Palestinians to the territory of Israel within the 1967 lines have “no legal validity” and “constitute a flagrant violation under international law.” Any institutions perpetuating such claims, such as UNRWA, should “immediately and completely cease” their illegal activities and be dismantled.
If backers of the original resolution decline to use the same language toward the Palestinians that they used against Israelis, then those who doubt their commitment to peace and justice would, unfortunately, be vindicated.

With 500,000 Syrians killed in a civil war that rages on, the EU in turmoil after the Brexit vote, and terrorism markedly on the rise in Europe, diplomats from 70 countries are expected in Paris on Sunday to focus their attention on creating a Palestinian state – five days before a new administration takes over in Washington.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered last spring to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, in Paris or elsewhere, for face-to-face talks on all issues, without preconditions. It was rejected, as usual. As long as the PA believes that it can achieve statehood by avoiding, rather than negotiating, with Israel, no progress will be made. The Paris meeting only delays that possibility.
