  1. Kuwait: US arms deal include 28 F-18 helicopters, worth $5 bln (alarabiya, Nov 20, 2016)
    https://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/gulf/2016/11/20/Kuwait-US-arms-deal-include-28-F-18-helicopters-worth-5-bln.html

“Kuwait’s Minister of Defense Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah said his country’s arms deal with the United States includes only 28 F/A-18 fighter jets, worth $5 billion, local Al Rai newspaper reported him as saying on Sunday.

Jarrah, who is also Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, dismissed reports that the US Department has approved a possible $10.1 billion military sale of 40 F/A-18 aircrafts to his government.

Sources told Al Rai said the deal was not made “in a day as others believe,” but bore its fruition after “a long process of negotiation.”

Reports of Kuwait purchasing 40 fight jets from the US was a heated topic especially among hopefuls running for the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled to take place on Nov. 26.”

  2. Warplanes strike military sites in Yemen capital – residents (reuters, Nov 21, 2016)
    http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-yemen-security-raids-idUKKBN13G0K8?rpc=401

“Arab coalition warplanes struck military sites in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Monday, residents said, as two-day ceasefire that was marred by heavy fighting entered its final hours.

The raids hit army bases on a mountain overlooking the city, and the force of the explosions shook buildings as it rippled through several city neighbourhoods, they said.

Sanaa is controlled by the Iran-allied Houthi movement, which still holds vast swathes of the country despite a nearly 20-month military campaign by the Saudi-led alliance aimed at restoring Yemen’s exiled government.

A 48-hour ceasefire announced by Saudi Arabia which largely failed to halt nationwide combat is set to expire at noon (0900 GMT) on Monday.

The violence casts into doubt a U.N. peace proposal for the Houthis to quit main cities and Yemen’s warring factions to form a national unity government.”

  3. Britain ‘FAILING to obliterate ISIS in Syria after just 30 attacks in 12 months’ (express, Nov 21, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/734490/Britain-Islamic-State-war-in-Syria-RAF-Iraq

“BRITISH RAF pilots are failing to take out Syrian Islamic State fighters after just 30 attacks since December last year, according to new figures.

Statistics released by the Ministry of Defence found the RAF has killed ten times the amount of ISIS fighters in Iraq, than in Syria, the terrorist-network’s military base.

The Tory MP and former Army officer Tom Tugendhat was left disgusted at the low murder rates.

He told the Sun: “Recapturing Iraqi cities like Mosul has shown only too clearly the brutality of ISIS and why we must destroy them wherever we find them…”

  6. Nigel Farage: The “Merkel-Obama Wall” is Falling

Nigel Farage, one of the leading voices of the Brexit movement, is still glowing in the light of Donald Trump’s extraordinary victory in the U.S. elections. Now turning his attention to an upcoming run-off election in Austria, Farage told Fox Business that the country will likely be the next to take a hammer to the “Merkel-Obama wall” of multicultural globalism.

“The poor darlings are in denial,” Farage said. “They simply can’t face up to the fact that their worldview has taken an absolute beating in the year of 2016.”

Farage said in the interview that the movement he started in the U.K. was sprouting significant seeds all across the Western world. “It began with Brexit – the first brick out of the wall – and now we have a Trump presidency in the USA,” he said. “And let me tell you, in two weeks time we have a re-run of the Austrian Presidential election and the last contest was scrapped because of electoral fraud and the possibility of a right-wing Austrian nationalist candidate winning.”

Farage, who – even to a greater extent than Trump – has been on the cutting edge of the anti-establishment mood of the West, is optimistic about the rise of prudent nationalism.

In France, Trump’s ideological kin – Marine Le Pen – said the Republican’s stunning upset victory was a bright moment in history for freedom.

  7. Le Pen Takes Commanding Lead in Presidential Election Polls

Front National leader Marine Le Pen has taken a substantial lead in the latest French presidential election poll, eight points ahead of her nearest rival.

Le Pen secured the support of 29 percent of those surveyed by Ipsos, placing her a commanding eight points ahead of former President Nicolas Sarkozy, representing Les Républicains, and a decisive 15 points ahead of Parti de Gauche’s (Left Party’s) Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the Independent has reported.

At the last Presidential elections in 2012, a year after taking the reins of her party, Ms Le Pen came third in the first round of the with 17.9 per cent of the vote, behind Mr Sarkozy on 27.2 percent and eventual winner Mr Hollande with 28.6 percent.

Since then, however, the party has gone from strength to strength with a string of electoral successes, making her a serious contender for the 2017 Presidential race.

The French Prime Minister Manuel Valls earlier this week conceded that a Le Pen win next year is “possible”, with her bid boosted by the shock election of president-elect Donald Trump in the US Presidential elections.

  8. How Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda Helped Hillary

On July 12, Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda stood up at his show and welcomed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton to his show.

“This November, the difference could not be more stark, who do you think is going to get closer to those ideals?” he asked, referring to the Constitution and the founding fathers. “Are you going to vote for the guy who wants to build a wall, or for someone who’s building bridges?”

Miranda introduced Clinton as “the forty-fifth president of the United States” as she took the stage to address the crowd.

Why? Because it was a private fundraiser. Miranda hosted a special performance of the show exclusively for donors to Clinton’s presidential campaign. Tickets ranged from $2,700 to a whopping $100,000.

“I have now seen it three times, first at the Public and twice here, and I cry every time,” Clinton said.

Miranda tweeted a photo of himself with both Bill and Hillary Clinton urgi

  9. ADL Chief Who Smeared Steve Bannon Directed Project at Soros-Funded Institute

TEL AVIV – Jonathan Greenblatt, the National Director and CEO of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), previously directed an initiative at a George Soros-financed, far-left institute, and he worked for the Obama administration just prior to joining the ADL.

Greenblatt last week stirred controversy by baselessly smearing Steve Bannon for associations with anti-Semites. Those charges collapsed after Jewish leaders and Breitbart employees described Bannon as staunchly pro-Israel and a fighter of anti-Semitism, with the ADL itself conceding on Thursday that it is “not aware of any anti-Semitic statements made by Bannon himself.”

Bannon, Breitbart’s former executive chairman, was named by President-elect Donald Trump last week as chief strategist of the new White House administration.

Greenblatt in November 2014 was appointed head of the ADL, coming straight from the Obama administration, where he served as Director of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation.

Greenblatt’s official ADL bio shows little documented experience in combating anti-Semitism.

  10. Donald Trump and the Return of European Anti-Americanism

    by Soeren Kern
    November 21, 2016 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9372/trump-europe-anti-americanism

European anti-Americanism — which was on the wane during the presidency of Barack Obama, who steered the United States on a course of globalism rather than nationalism — is back with a vengeance.

Europe’s media establishment has greeted Donald Trump’s election victory with a vitriol not seen since the George W. Bush presidency, when anti-Americanism in Europe was at fever pitch.

Since the American election on November 9, European television, radio and print media have produced an avalanche of negative stories, editorials and commentary that seethe with rage over the outcome of the vote.

European criticism of Trump goes far beyond a simple displeasure with the man who will be the next president. The condemnation reveals a deep-seated contempt for the United States, and for American voters who democratically elected a candidate committed to restoring American economic and military strength.

If the past is any indication of the future, European anti-Americanism will be a pervasive feature of transatlantic relations during the Trump presidency.

Although European opinion-shapers have focused much of their indignation on the threat Trump allegedly poses to global order, the president-elect will inherit a world that is significantly more chaotic and insecure than it was when Obama became president in January 2009.

The primary cause of the global disorder is the lack of American leadership — leading from behind — at home and abroad.

  11. Turkey: Lies, Cheap Lies and Cheaper Lies

    by Burak Bekdil
    November 21, 2016 at 4:30 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9370/turkey-lies

Reading his public speeches, one may think that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan must be joking; that he is a celebrity stand-up comedian, the best in his profession. In reality, he is not joking. He believes in what he says. And he does not want to make people laugh. He is just an Islamist strongman.

Visiting Minsk, the capital of Belarus, in the first week of November for the opening of a mosque in a dictatorial country where there are 100,000 Muslims, Erdogan accused Western Europe for “intolerance that spreads like the plague.”

Erdogan described Belarus, which Western countries describe as a dictatorship, as “a country in which people with different roots live in peace.” In Erdogan’s view Belarus is decent and peaceful, but Western Europe is not. Merely because Belarus’s dictator, Alexander Lukashenko, agreed to open a mosque to lure some Turkish investment.

  12. Mexico Colluding With Sanctuary Cities?

The Mexican government is reaching out to immigrants inside the U.S. in the wake of Donald Trump’s impending presidency. The communication is to be expected, but the nature of the language has some wondering about the extent to which Mexico is collaborating with so-called “sanctuary cities” in the U.S.

These cities, which have diverse internal rules regarding how they process illegal immigrant criminals and how they cooperate with federal immigration authorities, have come under sharp scrutiny over the last couple of years. One of the cities – San Francisco – was harshly criticized when an American woman named Kate Steinle was murdered by an illegal immigrant who had once been in the city’s custody.

However, few have focused on possible collaboration between these cities and the Mexican government. That may change now, after Mexican officials announced they would increase “collaboration at the state and local level” as it pertains to their citizens living in the U.S.

“Reinforce dialogue with local and state authorities, in the understanding that local policies determine, in good measure, the daily life of Mexicans in the U.S.,” reads part of an 11-step plan for Mexicans who are worried about deportation.

    http://patriotnewsdaily.com/mexico-colluding-with-sanctuary-cities/

Richard: The cities need to be very careful about the deals them make with Mexico, making deals with foreign nations to protect illegal aliens may be considered setting their own Foreign Policy which is forbidden by the Constitution. This may, I repeat may lead to the prosecution of Mayors and possibly Council members and Police Chiefs for illegal actions.

    • Sounds like the weasel move the EU and Soros tried to pull in Hungary by negotiating (bribe) with individual towns and villages to accept tards. Pretty sure Orban caught this one in time.

      • The Donald is already threatening to prosecute sanctuary cities, this would be another charge to add to the list.

  13. Trump Cabinet-Picks Support Banning Muslim Brotherhood
The first picks for A Trump administration believe that the Brotherhood should be designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

President-Elect Trump’s first picks for his administration believe that the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas, should be designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Clarion Project recently reported on comments by a senior foreign policy adviser, Dr. Walid Phares, indicating that the future Trump Administration would support the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act. The legislation has passed the House Judiciary Committee and has the support of 87 members of Congress, including two Democrats.

See below video with Clarion’s Ryan Mauro on the what are the most immediate national security issues facing President-elect Trump

The legislation outlines the evidence linking the Brotherhood and Hamas to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT).

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) was chosen as attorney general. He is a cosponsor of the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act.

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS) was chosen as director of the CIA. He was one of the original cosponsors of the bill.

  14. RT – ‘Western laws now clash with moral nature of man’ – Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill

[…]The statistics show an appalling dynamic: there used to be 1.5 million Christians in Iraq – now there is less than 150,000. There used to be half-a-million Christians in Syria, and now they have vanished without a trace, whether they were killed or fled the country.

[…]Which is why killing Christians or driving them out of the region isn’t just a crime against religion and against human rights and freedoms: it is a civilizational disaster.

[…]if the nations currently engaged in the interventions in Syria and Iraq are truly committed to eradicating terrorism, and if that stated objective is their only true goal and there’s no hidden agenda, then it shouldn’t be a problem for us to join efforts and work together.

[…]We keep hearing that the coalition has its own approach, and Russia has a different stance. Well, now is the time when we can’t have two conflicting positions any longer; we need to align ourselves with each other.

That’s why I was glad to hear what US President-elect Mr. Trump said in this regard. He clearly underlined the necessity to tackle Islamist radicalism and terrorism.

    […]Based on what Mr. Trump said in the course of the election campaign, we can see that he does have the intention to establish a dialogue with Russia, including first and foremost when it comes to combating terrorism. That’s good;

[…]So if Europe is now cutting itself off from its roots, it raises the question of whether this is motivated by political correctness or something else.

[…]Multiculturalism has no future, because it implies different cultures mixing, different cultures and religions poured together and shaken vigorously to create a kind of cocktail. That would be impossible because of deep-rooted traditions

[…]I’m deeply wary of it. What’s happening in the Western countries is that, for the first time in human history, legislation is at odds with the moral nature of human beings. What’s good and evil? Sin and righteousness?

[…]Now, for the first time in human history, the law allows something that doesn’t correspond to our moral nature. The law contradicts it. It’s not the same thing, of course, but we could compare this to an extent to the apartheid in Africa or Nazi laws – when the law went against inherent moral values, people rebelled. They knew it wasn’t right; it was artificial; it was part of some ideology and not in sync with their moral nature.

[…]However, under no circumstances should this be accepted as a social norm no different from the social norm that stems from our moral nature, meaning marriage between a man and wife who create a family and have children. That’s why we believe this new trend poses a significant threat for the existence of the human race. The Church has to address this and say it’s a bad thing, but we’ve seen that authorities in some countries have been trying to silence clergymen.

[…]It is the result of their minds being influenced in a certain way, and we are not talking just about youth here. Just look at what’s out there – movies, television, literature. There is a clear ideological paradigm aimed at dismantling religious and moral values

  15. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Airline Wants to Fly to Canada
An Iranian-born MP from Canada met with an Iranian delegation lobbying for the reopening of direct flights with Mahan Air.

An Iranian-born member of parliament met with a delegation from Iran lobbying for the reopening of direct flights between Iran and Canada on Mahan Air, as reported by Atash, a Persian news outlet in Canada.

The airline remains under terror sanctions by the U.S., which accused it of providing “transportation, funds transfers and personnel travel services” to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Forces. The U.S. says the airline is used by Iran to transport fighters and weapons to Syria to train Hezbollah jihadis, Syrian army troops and others.

Majid Jowhari, a Liberal MP, is active in lobbying the Canadian government to re-establish diplomatic relations with Iran and reopen both countries’ respective embassy. He reportedly met with a parliamentary delegation from Iran to open a Canada-Iran parliamentary friendship group and push for the re-establishment of flights with Mahan Air.

“Our government’s position is that Canada severing ties with Iran had no positive consequences for anyone, not for Canadians, not for the people of Iran, not for our Canadian allies, and not for global security,” Jowhari said at a news conference. “An absence of diplomatic representation hurts the people of both countries,” he added.

    • The eternal Arab fallback position:

      IT’S THE JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOsssss!!!!”

      • So true. Their default is to blame the jews. No matter what evidence is presented–it’s the Jews. Their prejudice and useless religion dooms them to eternal stupidity, but their money and eagerness to die makes them dangerous. And God forbid I say something to deflect blame maybe somewhere else–like where it belongs and blamo! Now I’m part of the problem!

    • Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

“A cyber security guy” ignoring the most basic fact of Internet reality. Namely, that whatever you post under your real name can never be withdrawn, erased, or stopped from becoming public knowledge. Then this piece of shite goes on to dismissively mention how, “There is no such thing as a joke, no matter how slight it may be, pertaining to this topic.”

Who is this fü¢king Liberal moron kidding?!? Is he really referring to “the topic” of assassinating America’s president-elect?!? Is that supposed to be some trivial source of humorous content where death threats are just for sh!ts and giggles?!?

You can bet your nest egg that the only sincere remorse this ambulatory piece of excrement is experiencing comes from losing his $5 million dollar annual salary. Does anyone really think that some other Liberal-owned company will offer him another cushy, high-paying job? Anyone want to bet that his new employer might go directly under the Secret Service’s microscope as a result?

This maroon just permanently poisoned the financial well of his entire remaining professional career. I’m going to do my impersonation of Carnac the Magnificent and predict a quick divorce accompanied by massive ex-wife gouging in Matt Harrigan’s immediate future.

For old-times sake, here’s Johnny Carson’s final appearance as Carnac the Magnificent:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFQFf_Vb0Hw

Please pay close attention to the massively politically incorrect references Carson (or his joke-writers) makes about “entertainers” Oprah Winfrey and Tito Jackson. There ain’t a comedian in all of modern Hollywierd who has the ostiones to go after some laughs with the same sort of content today. Carson’s mastery of deadpan humor made Bob Newhart look like the eternal greenhorn tyro that he always was.

        • They were funny in the 1980s, humor that depends on you knowing what is currently happening doesn’t last and the older comics don’t consider it comedy. It is but not comedy for the ages.

Try watching the old Saturday Night Live shows and you won’t find many of the jokes funny.

        • “With a gobble here and a gobble there…” is a reference to the children’s song, “Old MacDonald Had A Farm

The word “gobble” is onomatopoeia for the sound a turkey bird makes. It is also a reference to hurriedly eating food. Blended together, these two references evoke the image of turkeys at an auction trying to drive up the bid price by gobbling loudly to make the auctioneer think somebody is raising their bid.

Ovaltine (some might remember it as Horlicks) was a powder used to make malted chocolate milk beverage. It originally was marketed as a nutritional supplement for infants and children.

The punch line involves how (among her detractors – which are legion among the Right) Oprah Winfrey is famous for binge eating and being overweight. Ergo, Ovaltine = Oval Teen = a rotund adolescent Oprah.

Hasbro (initially famous for it’s Mr. Potato Head toy set) is a major American toy maker and third largest after Mattel (#1 – Barbie) and Danish building block powerhouse, Lego (#2).

Hasbro can also be interpreted as “Has [a] bro”, which is ghetto patois for “has a brother”. The punch line being that Tito Jackson’s entire career as an entertainer is solely due to him being the brother of pop-star (and homosexual serial child molester) Michael Jacksoff Jackson.

“Short stack” us a common culinary reference to a partial order of breakfast pancakes. Robert Stack (famous for portraying “Untouchable” G-Man, Elliot Ness, in the vintage television show) also was the perennial host for the television series, “Unsolved Mysteries”.

Ergo, someone hosting a program of “Unsolved Mysteries” for midgets could be referred to as a “short” (Robert) Stack.

Robin Hood, Dead Again, Thelma & Louise were all popular movies in the early 1990s (when this “Tonight Show” segment originally aired).

The “merry old England” reference of Robin Hood, combines with Dead Again, and “Thelma & Louise” (one of the first smash-hit “chick flicks”), to create references about the dead or past lives.

Ergo, the punchline about American actress, Shirley Maclaine, famous (at that time) for her claims about having lived a gazillion past lives.

“Wake up and smell the coffee” is popular American slang for “Get a clue!”. During the 1990s a common advertising figure was Mrs. Olson, who touted the Folgers brand of ground coffee.

Ergo, the punch line about waking up (and smelling coffee brewing) after spending a night with Mrs. Olson.

“Jump down, turn around and pick a bale of cotton” is a line from the famous American slave folk song, “Pick a Bale of Cotton“.

The punch line, “What’s the last to do with a live [hand] grenade in your mouth”, probably refers to how cotton is used to pack the empty socket left after a tooth has been pulled. The implication being that a hand grenade will blow out a sufficient number of teeth to where an entire bale of cotton will be needed to pack the wounds.

Spam and Jim Bakker” refers to the now infamous luncheon meat (whose name derived from “SPiced hAM”, but initially gained notoriety during WWII as part of soldiers’ B-Rations). Its exceptionally long shelf life has caused many to revile the product although it still retains great popularity—likely due to prolonged American military presence in both locations—in Hawaii (see: Spam musubi) and the Philippines.

Jim Bakker (former host of The Praise The Lord Club Christian TV show and husband of serial cosmetics abuser Tammy Faye Bakker) was a disgraced televangelist whose later conviction for conspiracy plus mail and wire fraud netted him 45 years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine. “The can” is a common American slang reference to prison.

Ergo, the punchline, “Name two things that will be in the can for the next 18 years”.

Godzilla, Rodan, New York City” begins with references to a pair of famous Japanese B-grade gigantic movie monsters. During the early 1990s, when their economy was booming, many significant American properties were bought by Japanese interests. Most famous among them, the Rockefeller Center Plaza in New York City.

Ergo, the punch line, “Name three big Japanese things.”
Bungee diving and a date with Geraldo” refers to the diving sport that uses huge lengths of elastic material and once-famous talk show interviewer, Geraldo Rivera, whose career took a similarly precipitous nosedive after he was revealed to be a serial sexual harasser.

Ergo, the punch line, “Name two things that end with a jerk on your leg”, likely refers to the snap-back of bungee jumping and Geraldo probable habit of dry-humping young women interns at the television studio.

Que Sera, Sera was a popular song written in 1956 by songwriters, Jay Livingston and Ray Evans—but made famous by then-famous actress Doris Day

Kmart was a discount retail chain famous for their “Blue Light Specials“.

Again, the punchline is onomatopoeia for the sound of a gigantic blade sawing through one of their big-box stores.

“Hop Sing” (played by actor, Victor Sen Yung) is the name of a Chinese cook for the fictional Cartwright family in the famous and long-running television western series, Bonanza.

Ergo, the punchline, “Name a prison for one-legged guys”, refers to a (sort of) verbal portmanteau (made famous by “Alice in Wonderland author, Lewis Carroll) of “Sing Sing“, an notorious New York State maximum security prison, and the need for a one-legged man (without crutches or cane) to “hop” around.

Tommy Lasorda, Roger Ebert, Marla Maples” were all prominent figures in the early 1990s.

Ergo, the punchline, “Name someone who’s buttonin’ up, someone who’s plump in the rump, and someone’s who’s dumped the Trump”.

Although largely based upon alliteration, the first part of this punchline is difficult to parse as it requires a knowledge of Los Angeles sports lore that I do not have couldn’t be bothered with. My guess is the mention of Lasorda refers to his (buttoned) sweater vests. The reference to late film critic, Roger Ebert, is much easier in that he underwent a major weight gain (especially in the posterior) towards the end of his career. Ex-wife Marla Maples divorced Donald Trump in the late 1990s although this does not reconcile with the 1992 time frame of when “The Tonight Show” stopped airing. The actual reference may involve a temporary breakup between Maples and Trump when this show was aired.

So there you have it, over one thousand words and an hour or two of my life that I’ll never get back.

          • FYI the Cartwright family was real and did have a ranch, mines and timber lands during the silver boom. I have heard from relatives who use to live in that region that they were not very nice in real life.

          • Cicero! Dazzling!

An exquisite explication of a cultural artifact that would’ve been otherwise inaccessible. Such a density of allusions, deft juxtapositions – brilliant Americana, early 1990s.

And here I thought the laughter sounded canned.

How you remember these things – it’s a gift. Like Biblical exegesis, blessed with hyperlinks. I’m humbled.

            • Such a density of allusions, deft juxtapositions – brilliant Americana, early 1990s.

Although Johnny Carson did not write his own jokes, that cannot possibly detract from his masterful delivery of them. His comedic genius (especially in the entertainment wasteland of late-night network television) made him that genre’s indisputable king.

So glad that you enjoyed it, yucki. In fact, as I drifted off to sleep last night, the songwriter portion of my mind parsed the final answer and finally got the rhyme structure sorted out.

Instead of (what I wrote): “Name someone who’s buttonin’ up, someone who’s plump in the rump, and someone’s who’s dumped the Trump”.

              It should read:

“Name someone who’s buttin’ the ump, someone who’s plumpin’ the rump, and someone’s who’s dumpin’ the Trump”.

As in, “”Name someone who’s butting the ump[ire], someone who’s plumping the rump, and someone’s who’s dumping the Trump”.

Here is a video that show’s Virginia baseball coach Brian O’Connor bumping an umpire. (Making physical contact with a game official is cause for instant ejection.) Los Angeles Dodgers coach, Tommy Lasorda, was famous for his combative attitude towards baseball umpires in general.

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viNHaAtLmLY

The other two parts of this answer are not substantially altered in that Ebert was “plumpin’ his rump” and, for whatever reason, Marla Maples was on the outs with (i.e., dumpin’ the) Trump.

              Cheers!!!

              • Easy to see why there’s a stiff penalty for ‘butting’ or ‘bumping’ the ‘ump’. Big guy gets all riled up, better keep him on a short leash.

  16. Lebanon: Authorities begin building ‘security wall’ around Palestinian refugee camp

Footage shot on Monday showed a security wall being built around Ain al-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, near the city of Sidon. The Lebanese authorities are said to be building it in response to recent conflicts between Palestinian factions.

SOT, Fuad Othman, member of Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (Arabic): “We were surprised to that they started building this wall around the camp in the middle of September 2016. The wall apparently will surround Ain El Hilweh camp from the eastern side of the camp and will go round to reach Darb el Seine area, encircling the camp completely.”

SOT, Fuad Othman, member of Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (Arabic): “We believe that the army and the government are totally entitled to take all the necessary precautions to impose stability, but not in this way. Building a wall will simply push people to emigration or, if they were not able to [emigrate], will end up feeling as if they live in an open prison.”

  17. Serbia: Orban describes watching Trump win US elections as “fun”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban commented on Donald Trump’s victory in the US Presidential election, during a press conference held in Nis on Monday.

SOT, Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary (Hungarian): “Watching the US election results was so much fun like I haven’t had in a long time.”

SOT, Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary (Hungarian): “Change must happen in Europe too, because whatever came from the US on the continent – was well accepted and rooted there and we have had enough of the lecturing. We have had enough of not being able to express our opinions because we are afraid that someone will judge us morally and assess us as being little. In that sense, the US election results mark an important crossroads and I think we should also be freer, to speak freer and argue freer.”

    • the US election results mark an important crossroads and I think we should also be freer, to speak freer and argue freer.”

This election should mark the beginning of the end of cultural Marxism ruling on what we can and can not think and say. It won’t be the end of it but it is the beginning of the end. Western Civilization is freeing itself from the chains the Marxists want to put on our minds and hearts.

“BELGRADE – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said his country doesn’t agree with EU migrant policy and won’t accept the ‘diktat’ of Brussels on migrants, during a joint press conference on Monday with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

Orban said he can’t let the influx of migrants and refugees change the life and face of a country. He was in Nis, in southern Serbia, for an intergovernmental summit between the two countries. Orban said Hungary is open to all Serbian citizens who “come to work, invest, and visit the country”.”

  18. Obama sets 1-day record with 527 pages of new regulations

Outgoing President Barack Obama set a new record with just two months remaining until his departure from the White House by putting his regulatory footprint on virtually every facet of American life – through 527 pages of new rules and regulations.

By adding more than 500 pages of new restrictions on Americans’ way of life and the way they do business, the Obama administration increased the total of this years’ rules to 81,640 – a one year total that is unprecedented, as no other sitting president has ever impressed this number of limitations on American citizens since the nation’s founding … more than two centuries ago.

    • I used to have a t-shirt–way back in the late 70s or early 80s, that said, “Kill a Commie for Mommy”.

Now, while I’ve now matured like a fine wine and find such “hate speech” utterly repugnant, I must express my utter regret that our Supreme Leader Comrade Obama would try to strangle the American public with central planning. Shame on you Comrade!

      • Shortly after he second term started I was talking to a man at the VA and we were talking about how when we were in the Army the vast majority of people considered the only good communist to be a dead communist and now well over half of the people in the White House are communists and proud of that fact.

        • I was taught never, ever call someone a communist. Worse than Nazi because they were still oppressing regular people like us.
Even today I feel naughty writing “commie”.

    • Woman in coma after man drags her behind car on rope

A man has been detained by police in northern Germany after he tied a rope around a young woman’s neck and dragged her down the street behind his car.

The small town of Hameln in Lower Saxony has been left in a state of shock after the crime, which occurred on Sunday evening.

“The brutality and contempt with which this crime was carried out is horrifying. Everyone in the town is shocked,” said town spokesperson Thomas Wahmes.

The exact motive for why the 38-year-old man tied a finger-thick length of rope around the woman’s neck before tying her to the tow-bar of his car and dragging her 250 metres along asphalt and cobbled roads, remains unclear.

“But we suspect that relationship problems were behind the crime,” said police spokesperson Jens Petersen.

Police say that the woman was only freed from her torment when the rope came loose.

“It is still unclear whether the rope broke or whether it came loose from the tow-bar,” said Petersen.

The 28-year-old woman was found lying on the pavement by passersby, among them a police officer on his way into work.

After receiving emergency care, the young woman was taken to hospital in Hanover by helicopter but remained in a coma on Monday morning, with doctors describing her condition as life threatening.

The man, who is from the nearby town of Bad Münder, later handed himself into police and admitted to the crime.

He did not however give a statement that would clear up the motive.

Both the assailant and the victim are German citizens of Kurdish heritage and belong to two larger families.

Fearing possible retribution, police have taken special precautions to protect the assailant’s family. As of Monday no such act of retribution had occurred.

Now the town of Hameln is trying to come to terms with the brutal crime.

“It is hard to believe that such an act of violence took place here, just a few streets away from the town hall,” said town spokesperson Wahmes.

Woman Dragged Behind Car With Rope Around Her Neck in Hamelin, Germany

MAINZ, Germany — A woman suffered serious injuries after she was dragged through the streets of a German town behind a car with a rope tied around her neck, police said Monday.

The 28-year-old, who has not been identified, was found on a sidewalk in Hamelin on Sunday, according to a statement issued by police

Officials said a 38-year-old suspect turned himself in at a local police station around the same time the victim was found. The police statement said the suspect admitted to the crime although that has not been directly confirmed by the man or his lawyer.

“The suspect did not provide any information on his motive,” the statement read.

According to police, the suspect tied one end of the rope to the trailer-hook of the car and the other end around the victim’s neck. She had to be taken by helicopter to a nearby medical center although police did not provide information about her condition.

The northwest German town is best known for the 13th-century German folk tale the “Pied Piper of Hamelin.”

Norway Slashes Clinton Foundation Donations By 87% As Political Clout Dries Up

For months we’ve been told that the Clinton Foundation, and it’s various subsidiaries, were simple, innocent “charitable” organizations, despite the mountain of WikiLeaks evidence to the contrary. Well, if that is, in fact, true perhaps the Clintons could explain why wealthy foreign governments, like Norway, are suddenly slashing their contributions now that Hillary’s political clout has been erased?

As the Norwegian newspaper Hegnar points out, Norway is expected to slash their contributions to the Clinton Foundation by 87% now that Hillary has lost the presidency. After contributing roughly $5mm per year to the Clinton Foundation between 2007 – 2013, the Norwegian government decided to boost their donations to ~$15mm and ~$21mm in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Ironically, that boost in contributions corresponded with Hillary’s decision to run for President in 2016…but we’re sure it’s just a coincidence. That said, it is fairly interesting that, since Hillary’s loss, Norway has decided to scale back their contributions by 87% in 2017…hmmm.

After a record contribution from Norway to the disputed Clinton Foundation before the election year, is the contribution now in freefall. Financial newspaper can tell that next year’s contribution is down 83 percent from the peak year of 2015.

For 2016, the planned payments to Clinton Health Access Initiative totaling 35.9 million kroner, writes communications advisor Guri Solberg at the Foreign Ministry, in an email to Finance newspaper.

It is one-fifth of last year’s contribution, when nominating election campaign before the US primaries was in full swing, and the Clinton Foundation came under the spotlight in the US press.

According to Finance newspaper lay the annual Norwegian contribution of NOK 40 million on average from 2007 to 2013. In 2014, the contribution more than tripled, to 129 million. And in 2015 they increased to 174 million.

The money has gone to two of the Foundation’s programs, primarily Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), but also the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI).

For 2017 it is planned payments to Clinton Health Access Initiative 23 million, Solberg wrote in an email to Finance newspaper. It is further down 36 percent from the current year. By comparison, ran this program 169 million in 2015.

  22. Mexican Officials Consider Repealing Gun Control Laws

On Wednesday, Dr. Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) testified in front of the Mexican Senate and House Constitution Committees on how to reform Mexican gun laws. Mexican officials wanted to hear about gun laws in America and how our laws differ from Mexico’s gun control measures.

Senator Jorge Luis Preciado brought Lott in to consider the effects of reforming Mexico’s major gun control measure, 1972 Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives. According to Milenio, a Mexican news source, this forum was part of Presciado’s push to allow firearms in homes and cars for self-defense. He wanted to look at international laws and their impacts on citizens.

“In the debate on gun control [it] is easy to talk about what could go wrong, but we do not have to guess. There are many experiences in several countries that could be considered,” Dr. Lott told the committees. “For example, if it [legally owning a firearm] worked in the United States why not believe that it’d work in Mexico too? …what can they lose if they give people the opportunity to defend themselves?”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/21/dutch-compromise-bed-bath-bread-rejected-asylum-seekers-fails/

” Year-long talks between the Dutch government and the country’s cities over whether to provide food and shelter for rejected asylum-seekers broke down on Monday, likely delaying a resolution until after national elections in March.

The dispute pits the wish of conservative Prime Minister Mark Rutte and most Dutch voters to promptly deport rejected migrants without giving them aid, against cities and a left-leaning minority who say that for legal, practical and ethical grounds they cannot simply leave such people on the street, perhaps to die, as the deportation process grinds into gear.

A compromise on what is known as the “bed, bath and bread” debate had been in sight, with the government prepared to allow a handful of shelters in major cities to feed and house migrants for several weeks, in exchange for a promise to withhold any further help.

  26. Mosques, Muslim Brotherhood Call for Juppé Vote in French Primaries (breitbart, Nov 21, 2016)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/21/mosques-muslim-urge-juppe-vote/

“Islamic organisations and mosques in France are urging Muslims to vote Alain Juppé in the primary to decide the conservative candidate in next year’s presidential election, according to a number of sources.

President of the Collective of Muslims in France (CMF) Nabil Ennasri, has called for Muslims to vote for Juppé, an anti-populist, in the centre-right primaries. Other Islamic organisations, and mosques, have been doing the same according to researcher and consultant on Islamic issues Romain Caillet, who writes for French newspaper Libération.

Caillet yesterday wrote on Twitter: “Apart from the call to vote Juppé [from Nabil Ennasri], several sources suggest there have been more discreet calls from Muslim organisations.”

Feïza Ben Mohamed, spokesman and secretary general of the Federation of Muslims in the South [of France], agreed, writing: “Of course. There were.” Caillet went on to disclose that Muslim Brotherhood-linked mosques used their Friday sermons to tell attendees they must vote for Juppé in the primaries.

Mohamed told the historian, who specialises in the global jihadist movement, that this is happening “even in the [non-Muslim Brotherhood mosques].” She added that in Nice, imams “will call for people to vote for [centre-right] Les Republicains” against Le Pen “as they have since time immemorial.”

Both former prime ministers of France, Juppé along with François Fillon, yesterday qualified through to the next round in the race to decide who will likely face off against Front National leader Marine Le Pen in the country’s presidential elections next year.

CMF head Ennasri, an associate of controversial Islamic preachers Tariq Ramadan and Yusuf al-Qaradawi, recently wrote a piece asserting that the centre-right primary is “critical.” In the article, he said Muslims need to “massively participate,” and calls for a “tactical vote” for Juppé as “the lesser of evils” to stand against Le Pen.

Breitbart London last month reported on #JeTeVoix (I See You), a campaign launched by a Muslim activist and various civil society groups which seeks to mobilise minority voters to eliminate “dangerous” candidates from the primaries. The aim of the campaign is to block candidates who promise to be tough on crime, uphold secularism, or reduce immigration and privileges for aliens.

Under the evaluation system on the website of #JeTeVoix, where users can vote for “sanctions” based on the candidates’ past statements or actions that affect minorities, Juppé is by far the most preferred candidate.

The presidential candidate opposes tough measures to restrict immigration and earlier this year said diversity enriches France. Juppé, who is the current mayor of Bordeaux, has consistently opposed France’s niqab ban, and is in favour of a federal Europe.”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/21/migrants-burn-hall-candy-fasting-hours/

“Migrants burned a conference hall down, injuring 26 people and causing €10 million in damage, during Ramadan because they thought there wasn’t enough chocolate and candy.

Two men have been charged for setting fire to the hall, which was being used as an asylum centre, in an attack that lit a hundred-metre high pillar of smoke that could be seen from across Düsseldorf.

“It was triggered by a dispute about food during Ramadan,” a spokesman for the state court said of the criminal act, which left 26 people injured. The hall, which had previously been used for staging conferences and exhibitions, was burned down completely resulting in 10 million euros’ worth of damage.

German Red Cross employees reported that the arson attack on June 7 happened as a result of inflamed tensions during the Islamic month of fasting, in which Muslims choose not to eat during daylight hours.

Ordinary lunchtime meals in the asylum centre were cancelled during Ramadan, to the dismay of non-Muslims, with hot food served only early morning and late evening. A spread of cold food was put out during the day for migrants who weren’t fasting.

Olaf Lehne, district head of the German Red Cross, revealed migrants set fire to the hall in anger that chocolate spread and confectionery was available at the buffet in daylight hours. “There isn’t enough Nutella, Gummibears, and chocolate,” they shouted…”

    http://edition.cnn.com/2016/11/20/middleeast/iraq-christianity-peril/index.html

“Bartella, Iraq (CNN)Behnam Lalo crunches over jagged glass and tiptoes around a fallen altar, burned Bibles and a decapitated porcelain Virgin Mary. He picks up a cross from a heap of rubble and wipes away ashes with his priest’s robes.

He recognizes the cross immediately; he used it at confirmation ceremonies of so many boys and girls here at St. George Church. He no longer knows where some of them are. Or, if they are still alive.

This was a sanctuary once, a place of peace and love in the northern Iraqi town of Bartella, just 13 miles east of Mosul. Now everything is in disarray — defaced and damaged, covered in soot and remnants of war. In the adjoining cemetery, a rocket launcher points east toward the front lines, and bullet-ridden gravestones stand as silent witnesses to the desecration.
A crushing sadness descends on Lalo.

He tightens his grip on the small cross as his face fills with resolve. He will build again with new bricks and mortar, replace pillaged pews and find a chandelier more beautiful than the one he had installed a few years ago.

With few resources, rebuilding is sure to be a challenge. But Lalo knows that’s the easy part. How will he be able to restore faith in this fractured land?

The Bible tells followers not to judge others. “Forgive, and you will be forgiven,” it says. Those words, Lalo believes, are at the very core of Christianity.

But after everything that has happened in Iraq, Lalo sees hatred in the hearts of the people. It will be almost impossible to forgive the militant men of the self-proclaimed Islamic State who shattered thousands of lives. Or live again in these ancient lands where Christianity came early but is now edging dangerously close to extinction…”

Following the murder, Madi Mahaboudi, who has a previous conviction for a 2005 unlawful killing for which he was sentenced to eight years, cut up the body of Violet Price into seven pieces and discarded them in a field.

The criminal court in Agen heard on Friday from a medical examiner who said the attack last year on Price had been particularly violent.

“In 15 years of practice, I had never seen such a degree of bruising on the throat and neck,” he said after having asked members of the victim’s family to leave the court before reading out the long list of physical and sexual injuries suffered by Price.

“He’s not someone who really regrets what he’s done,” said the prosecuting attorney…”

    • Wow. The rest of the article gives me liberal velvet glove hives:

He said he was at a loss to explain why he committed the attack.

“He’s a boy who did not know how to develop as a man because he had a violent father (who was) imposing and very severe,” said defence attorney Isabelle Gillet, who claimed Mahaboudi was raped as a child by an acquaintance of his father. (Muslim family?)

Given an opportunity to speak before jurors retired to deliberate, Mahaboudi said: “I ask to be given a chance. Deep down I know I can be rehabilitated.” *

  30. German court acquits seven members of Wuppertal’s ‘Shariah police’ (DW, Nov 21, 2016)
    http://www.dw.com/en/german-court-acquits-seven-members-of-wuppertals-shariah-police/a-36472883

“A court in the western German city of Wuppertal has said that seven Islamists who formed a “shariah police” last year did not break any law. The men sparked outrage with their vigilante patrols in the city two years ago.

Judges at Wuppertal’s district court said on Monday that the seven accused members of the group did not break any laws while wearing orange vests bearing the words “shariah police.”

According to the judges, one could have spoken of a violation only if the uniforms were “suggestively militant” or had had an “intimidating effect.” Judges referred to an eye-witness saying that he thought the men wearing the vests were having a bachelor party. They also said that there was no proof to suggest that the men – all between 25 and 34 years of age – were wearing the vests intentionally to break the law.

Furthermore, judges said that police in Wuppertal also did not find anything punishable about the men wearing the vests, which were not seized by the officers. There was therefore no reason to punish the men.

The ruling has not yet come into effect and the state prosecutor can still appeal against it.

The “shariah police” caused a furore in 2014 when its members, headed by Salafist leader Sven Lau, patrolled streets near Wuppertal’s central station, telling people to refrain from drinking alcohol, listening to music and gambling – in accordance with the Muslim religious code of conduct, known as the “Sharia.”

Lau is a controversial Islamist preacher and is currently on trial for backing a terror group fighting in Syria. Similar “sharia police” groups have been reportedly operating in London, Copenhagen and Hamburg.”

“US law enforcement authorities have arrested a Yemeni-born legal resident of the United States who had been planning an attack on Times Square in New York City, US media reported on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Mohamed Naji made several postings online in support of the Islamic State terrorist group, NBC News reported. Naji had also discussed staging a Nice-style attack in New York City.

Naji has also reportedly travelled to Yemen in 2015 and attempted to join the Islamic State…”

    • Brooklyn resident Mohamed Rafik Naji arrested over alleged ISIS support

A 37-year-old Brooklyn resident has been arrested for allegedly trying to fight for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Yemen, according to court documents filed Saturday.

Prosecutors say Mohamed Rafik Naji, a citizen of Yemen and legal permanent resident of the U.S., has been expressing support for ISIS on social media since September 2014.

He is alleged to have traveled to Turkey and Yemen between March 22, 2015 and September 9, 2015 in an effort to join ISIS fighting in Yemen.

Naji, during his travels to Yemen, reportedly repeatedly expressed his admiration for ISIS on Facebook.

Prosecutors allege he repeatedly tried to enter ISIS territory to join the group while in Yemen between March and September of 2015.

In an email to his girlfriend on March 25, 2016, about his trials trying to enter the terrorist group’s territory, Naji allegedly wrote: “It’s very hard to get in I’m on my 5 try its difficult mad po po military and ppl here very scared inshallah I make it m keep trying if not m have to go from somewhere else.”

Court docs indicate that just one month later, Naji sent a selfie to his girlfriend “in which he is wearing all black clothing, including a tactical vest in which a large knife handle is visible.” A short time later, Naji allegedly sent a video showing him taking gunfire. Prosecutors say Naji’s girlfriend allegedly sent him money several times in Yemen.

When he returned to New York City after failing to join ISIS abroad, Naji is alleged to have shared his plans for a local attack with a confidential informant similar to the attack in Nice, France for Times Square.

Speaking about a potential attack by ISIS in New York, Naji is alleged to have said: “They want an operation in Times-Square, reconnaissance group already put out a scene, the Islamic State already put up scenes of Times-Square, you understand. I said that was an indication for whoever is smart to know.”

Officials have long expressed fears about ISIS supporters who appear to be self-radicalized in the U.S. Arrests have been piling up since the rise of the terrorist group in 2014.

  34. Turkish gov’t urges NATO countries to reject asylum requests of suspected Gülenist soldiers (hurriyetdailynews, Nov 21, 2016)

“Western countries should reject the asylum requests of suspected Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) members, Defense Minister Fikri I??k said at a Nov. 21 meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, sources familiar with the meeting told the Hürriyet Daily News.

Referring to media reports that some members of the Turkish Armed Forces serving in NATO structures have filed asylum requests in Western countries, I??k told the Secretary General that “granting those applications is not acceptable for Turkey and asked him to convey this message to Western interlocutors,” sources said.

NATO’s activities in the Aegean Sea as part of efforts to stem the flow of refugees and Turkey’s missions in NATO defense were among the issues discussed at the meeting between I??k and Stoltenberg.

On Nov. 18, the NATO secretary general confirmed that a number of Turkish officers serving in NATO structures in Europe had recently filed asylum requests, citing personal safety concerns following the foiled coup.

Stoltenberg added that the officers’ asylum requests would be processed by the related NATO members independently and the alliance would not be interfering in the process.

“It would be wrong if we started to go into that kind of legal issue, that’s for the judicial system [of the countries],” he said.

30-40 Turkish nationals applied for asylum in Germany

Some 30 to 40 Turkish nationals have recently applied for asylum in Germany, but there are no statistics on the asylum seekers’ professions, sources told the Hürriyet Daily News.

According to Deutsche Welle, most asylum applicants were Turkish military personnel employed at NATO bases in Europe.

Only three Turkish diplomats returned to Turkey from Germany since July after being ordered to do so, Deutsche Welle reported, citing diplomatic sources and adding that all three diplomats were then removed from office following “extensive interrogation.””

    • Turkey seeks NATO’s support against terrorism (hurriyetdailynews, Nov 21, 2016)
      http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-seeks-natos-support-against-terrorism-.aspx?pageID=238&nID=106359&NewsCatID=510

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has demanded NATO and Western support for Turkey’s fight against terrorist organizations.

“The support you will give to Turkey will make our fight against the terror organization that aims at our joint security stronger. We count on your support during our fight against structures [like] the FETÖ [Fethullahist Terror Organization],” Erdo?an said Nov. 21 at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s annual session in Istanbul.

Turkey accuses the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen and his supporters of orchestrating the failed coup attempt on July 15. Turkey launched a crackdown on the alleged supporters of the Gülen movement while also asking for Gülen’s extradition from the United States as well as the extradition of his supporters from other countries.

The U.S. and other countries have so far been slow to act in line with Turkey’s requests.

“Likewise, we expect your support for the struggle we are giving against all terrorist organizations, first and foremost Daesh and the PKK, that act jointly against humanity’s common values,” he added, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), while also referring to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Erdo?an also criticized the EU over its stance on terror organizations, urging Brussels to take necessary measures to ban PKK activities in member countries.

“We want you to prevent members of terror organizations from acting comfortably in your countries, making propaganda, choosing militants and racketeering with threats. As a country that is a victim of terror, we cannot tolerate the fact that the PKK, which the EU has designated as a terror organization, roams so comfortably in EU member countries with posters of the chief terrorist [Abdullah Öcalan], also swarming with its banners in the corridors of the European Parliament building,” Erdo?an said.

“All our friends should take necessary precautions on this issue. Otherwise, terror will one day also hit them like a boomerang,” he added.

Erdo?an also stated that terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria were “using the weapons of friendly nations.”

“I have to explain the truth here: Do you know that there are weapons in the hands of organizations that we have declared as terrorists in Iraq and Syria that were produced by our friends? We know all those weapons, as well as their serial numbers. But when we tell [Western allies] about this, they don’t care,” he said.

He particularly referred to the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its military wing, the People’s Protection Unit (YPG), which Turkey says is organically linked to the PKK, but with which the U.S. has partnered with in the fight against ISIL.

Erdo?an said it was wrong to “treat one terrorist as good for fighting other terrorist organizations,” while describing Turkey as a “barrier” between terrorist organizations and the rest of the world.

“Turkey is in fact a barrier between terrorist organizations and the rest of the world, primarily Europe. If we fail in this fight, if this barrier collapses, then terrorists will bathe the whole world in fire and blood. Come, let’s strengthen this barrier instead of weakening it. Every support given to Turkey in the anti-terror fight will contribute to guaranteeing that country’s own future,” he added.

Meanwhile, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawmaker Metin Lütfi Baydar was elected the vice-president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly at the meeting in Istanbul on Nov. 21.

At the same meeting, People’s Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker Ziya Pir was elected as the vice-president of a sub-committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.”

    Last Updated: November 21, 2016

The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens to the heightened risk of terrorist attacks throughout Europe, particularly during the holiday season. U.S. citizens should exercise caution at holiday festivals, events, and outdoor markets. This Travel Alert expires on February 20, 2017.

Credible information indicates the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or Da’esh), al-Qa’ida, and their affiliates continue to plan terrorist attacks in Europe, with a focus on the upcoming holiday season and associated events. U.S. citizens should also be alert to the possibility that extremist sympathizers or self-radicalized extremists may conduct attacks during this period with little or no warning. Terrorists may employ a wide variety of tactics, using both conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests.
