BEIRUT (AP) — A group of suicide bombers detonated their explosives in a Lebanese village near the border with Syria on Monday, killing five people and wounding at least 15, Lebanon’s state-run news agency said.
The National News Agency said the blasts occurred in Qaa, a predominantly Christian village only few hundred meters (yards) away from the border. It said four suicide bombers were involved in the rare multiple attack.
The villagers became suspicious of the men as they were passing through the village around 4 am local time, an eyewitness in Qaa said. When civilian security men who guard the village called out to them, they threw a hand grenade before successively blowing themselves up among civilians.

DUBAI (Reuters) – Saudi-led airstrikes killed at least seven people in Yemen on Sunday, residents said, as U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon flew to Kuwait to try and galvanize peace talks on the conflict.
Yemen is more than 15 months into a war involving a Saudi-led Arab coalition that intervened to prevent Iran-allied Houthis, who control the capital, from completing a takeover of the country and overthrowing the government.
The Houthi-run Saba news agency said five citizens were killed in two air strikes in Khawlan district, southeast of the capital Sanaa.
Residents confirmed that five people died in the attack but did not say if they were civilians or armed members of the Houthis, a movement from the Zaydi branch of Shi’ite Islam.
In southern Yemen, residents said two women died in an air strike on the home of a merchant in the Qubaita district, located between the Taiz and Lahej provinces. Another Yemeni died in Saada province by shelling from the Saudi side of the border, the Houthi-run al-Masirah television reported.
There was no immediate comment from the coalition on the reports. The Saudi-led coalition says it does not target civilians in Yemen and has been observing a truce, acting only in response to Houthi violations.

SINGAPORE: A Singapore Airlines plane caught fire Monday while making an emergency landing at Changi Airport after turning back from a flight to Milan following an engine oil warning message, the carrier said.
No one was injured aboard the Boeing 777-300ER, but one passenger described those moments as a “so-close to death” experience.
SIA said in a statement the plane was en route from Singapore to Milan when an engine oil warning forced it to turn back to the city-state.
“The aircraft’s right engine caught fire after the aircraft touched down at Changi Airport at around 6:50am,” it said.

ANKARA (Reuters) – President Tayyip Erdogan spoke with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas by telephone on Sunday night and told him a deal had been reached with Israel to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, sources from the Turkish presidency said.
The call came as senior officials from both Turkey and Israel said a deal had been reached to normalize ties to end a rift dating to 2010, after the Israeli navy killed 10 Turkish pro-Palestinian activists involved in an aid flotilla that tried to breach an Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.
The presidential sources said Abbas expressed satisfaction with the developments. A deal was expected to be formally announced at 1000 GMT by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in Rome and Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Ankara.

Erdogan apologizes to Putin over death of Russian pilot, calls Russia ‘friend & strategic partner’
Russian President Vladimir Putin has received a letter in which his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan apologized for the death of the pilot who was killed when a Russian jet was downed over the Syrian-Turkish border last November, the Kremlin said.
Erdogan expressed readiness to restore relations with Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
The incident involving the downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber led to the worst deterioration of Turkish-Russian relations in recent history, with Russia describing it as a “stab in the back.”
“The head of the Turkish state expressed his deep sympathy and condolences to the relatives of the deceased Russian pilot and said ‘sorry,’” Peskov said.
In his letter, Erdogan called Russia “a friend and a strategic partner” of Ankara, with whom the Turkish authorities would not want to spoil relations.
“We never had a desire or a deliberate intention to down an aircraft belonging to Russia,” the letter read, according to a statement published on the Kremlin website.
According to the statement, Erdogan’s letter stressed that “the Turkish side undertook all the risks and made a great effort to recover the body of the Russian pilot from the Syrian opposition, bringing it to Turkey. The organization of the pre-burial procedures was conducted in accordance with all religious and military procedures.”
Ankara has treated the family of the dead Russian pilot as if it were a Turkish family and is “ready for any initiatives to relieve the pain and severity of the damage done,” the letter said.
The address by the Turkish leader also informed that a criminal investigation has been launched against the person suspected of killing the Russian pilot, the Kremlin said.
In addition, Erdogan expressed readiness to tackle security challenges in the region and fight terrorism together with Moscow.

Turkey: Russian Su-24 pilot’s suspected killer in court on related charges
The lead suspect in the killing of a downed Russian Su-24 pilot last November, Alparslan Celik, reappeared in court in Izmir on Monday, to face allegations he destroyed one of two Mi-8 helicopters that took part in the subsequent search and rescue operation.
Celik appeared in court along with 17 other suspects in the case. They have all been released on bail and have had travel bans imposed on them until the next hearing.

A Singapore Airlines plane erupted in flames shortly after making an emergency landing at Singapore’s Changi Airport early on Monday, the airline has confirmed.
The plane had been flying from Singapore to Milan in Italy when it was forced to turn back due to engine trouble.
Footage taken by a witness shows the Boeing 777-300ER sitting on the tarmac as fierce flames and thick black smoke billow from its right wing.

Taiwan plans to test-fire its newest anti-missile system for the first time in the United States next month as relations with rival China deteriorate, a defence source and media reports said Monday.
Relations between China and Taiwan have cooled rapidly under the island’s new Beijing-sceptic president Tsai Ing-wen, who took office in May, ending an eight-year rapprochement.
The test of the US-made Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) system will be launched at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, in early July, a defence ministry source told AFP, in a move likely to irk Beijing even though it was arranged before Tsai took the helm.
According to the source, the test will be conducted in the US to avoid China collecting information about it, and due to space restrictions in Taiwan.
The American Institute in Taiwan, the de facto US embassy, would not comment on the test, which was also reported in Taiwan’s Liberty Times newspaper.
Despite having no official diplomatic ties with Taipei after recognising Beijing in 1979, the US is still Taiwan’s greatest ally and main arms supplier.

UK Labour Party: Haven for Racists?
The UK Labour Party, which once stood proudly in solidarity with the victims of terrorism, now, under the would-be leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, seems to have become a haven for anti-Semites, Islamists and their apologists.

Despite Corbyn’s protestations that he is an avowed anti-racist who condemns Islamism, and that he continually condemns anti-Semitism, this leadership has tolerated anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic dialogue and has drawn Islamists into the Labour Party. When Corbyn was asked to do more to tackle the rising climate of anti-Semitism, which has seen Labour MP Louise Ellman face anti-Semitic abuse, his brother, Piers Corbyn, tweeted: “ABSURD! Activist and former Islam4UK spokesperson Anjem Choudary arrived to face trial at London’s Central Criminal Court, Monday, over accusations he had encouraged support for the self-proclaimed Islamic State in a series of social media posts.
Choudary has denied the charges, which relate to social media posts made between June 29, 2014 and March 6, 2015. Choudary had been released on bail until the start of the trial.
Before the ‘Brexit’ referendum vote, Choudary expressed his support for the UK remaining in the EU. ISIS Hackers Release Kill List of 4,000
An Islamic State affiliated group called the Caliphate Cyber Army (CCA) released the names, addresses and email addresses of some 4,000 people from around the world on social media in a “kill list” according the International Business Times.
Those marked for death come from countries including the USA, UK, France, Canada and India. Almost half are reportedly from the USA.
The hackers released the list on the encrypted messaging service Telegram, with the directive “O wolves of the Islamic State, [this is a] very important list, kill them immediately.”
The list appears to be random and seems to have been taken from a business networking platform, according to Vocativ.
Previous kill lists released by the Islamic State, such as that of Western Muslim leaders some of whom are aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, have not yet led to killings.

The 28-year-old was arrested on 9 June 2015 in Naseby Road initially for possessing an offensive weapon in public.

Angela Merkel has said the EU needs to stop other countries following Britain out of the door amid market fears that the bloc is ‘no longer governable’ after Brexit.

(AINA) — Assyrians who fled the war in Syria filed a lawsuit against a bank which is largely owned by Kuwait Finance House and the Turkish Authority for Foundations, based in Turkey. The lawsuit accuses the bank, Kuveyt Turk Katilim Bankasi A.S. (KTKB), and its parent financial institutions of funding terrorism.
The lawsuit was filed in a court in North Carolina, United States. The organization behind the the lawsuit is called St. Francis Assisi and was formed on June 6, 2016. The Christian organization is represented by Mogeeb Weiss in San Francisco but Tom Creal seems to be the one behind the case.

A group of lawyers, lawmakers and civil rights activists are urging authorities in Germany to investigate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Kurdish activist group Civaka Azad said lawyers filed the complaint Monday with Germany’s federal prosecutor’s office that relates to crimes allegedly committed against Kurds in southeastern Turkey.

Rabat – A diabetic person was beaten up by a mob of people after he was seen drinking water in broad daylight during Ramadan in Rabat.
The information was reported by a doctor who shared a video on YouTube where he denounced the incident. In the video, which is being widely shared on social media, the doctor explains how his patient, who suffered from diabetes since he was a child, was assaulted for drinking water.
The doctor expresses his frustration at the ignorance that reigns among large segments of Moroccans, as well as in the Moroccan penal code, which punishes those who publicly break their fast with a fine and a sentencing of up to six months in prison.

Greece: Golden Dawn attend eviction of Lesvos refugee shelter run by Brits
Greek authorities were called to a former refugee shelter run by an elderly British couple in Lesvos on Monday, after Golden Dawn protesters turned up to celebrate the eviction notice which was imposed.
British expat couple, Phiippa and Eric Kempson, originally from Newport in Wales founded the ‘Hope Centre’ shelter for migrants during the height of the refugee crisis last summer. The couple provided warm shelter, food and clothing for migrants arriving by boats on the island.
Authorities have imposed a € 10,000 ($11000) fine on the couple and closed down the shelter due to the site operating without a license.

At least 12 people were killed and 32 wounded early on Tuesday when a suicide bomber wearing a vest packed with explosives attacked a mosque in Abu Ghraib, about 25 km (15 miles) west of the Iraqi capital, police and medics said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, the first in or around Baghdad since the government declared victory over Islamic State militants in Falluja, further west, which was seen as a launchpad for such attacks.
