This does not explain the riots of Jan 25 2013 or why they may riot tomorrow or the day after. But certainly the riots of Jan 26 2013 seem to be about this.

Very good to know that Football fans in Egypt are anti-Ikhwan. This makes them a sort of Egyptian EDL.

  1. i have said this many times before; the “Arab spring” is far from over and the musturd brotherhood cannot take it for granted that the masses of any country will accept one tyranny in exchange for another.

    Clashes continue in Downtown Cairo

    Sporadic clashes have continued for a third day in Downtown Cairo between protesters and Egyptian security forces.

    The clashes began early morning on Sunday with both sides throwing rocks. Security forces responded with tear gas, pushing the battle back and forth between Qasr el Nil bridge and Tahrir Square.

    Egypt’s prosecution looks into Tahrir gang-rape incident

    Qasr Al-Nil prosecution orders arrest of group accused of raping a 19-year-old girl in Tahrir Square on Friday’s January 25 second anniversary rally

    Egypt’s Qasr Al-Nil prosecution ordered on Saturday the arrest of those responsible of raping a girl during Friday commemorations of the revolution’s second anniversary in Cairo.

    A 19-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by unknown attackers with bladed weapons, dragging her to a nearby street where they stripped her off her clothes and raped her on Friday.

    The prosecution, however, has failed to interview the victim due to her bad health condition.

    “The girl is suffering from severe exhaustion after being subjected to sexual assault and gang-rape,” said Naguib. She is also suffering from cuts by bladed tools in several parts of her body.

    The second anniversary of Egypt’s uprising witnessed a high number of serious sexual assaults, reported anti-harassment groups.

    “We have spotted at least 19 cases of mob sexual attacks between 5pm and 1am on Friday,” Leila Zahra member the anti-sexual harassment group OpAntiSH told Ahram Online.

    Zahra added that his group, however, managed to intervene in only 15 cases, failing to reach the rest.

    UPDATE: Three dead today in Port Said clashes

    Death toll increases in Port Said, Interior Ministry denies involvement in attack on mass funeral for victims of recent clashes in the city

    Three people have been killed and 416 injured on the day of a mass funeral for victims of Saturday’s clashes in Port Said.

    On Sunday, mourners at the Al-Mariam Mosque were hit by heavy tear gas shelling from the direction of the nearby army club, reports said.

    Injury by live bullets or birdshot reached 21, Abdel-Rahman Farah, general manager of Port Said hospitals told Ahram online.

    The Ministry of Interior has denied using tear gas at the funeral via a message on its official Facebook page.

    The ministry claimed several mourners on the funeral march threw Molotov cocktails and shot at police stations.

    More than 30 people died during clashes with police in Port Said on Saturday after a court sentenced 21 people to death for their involvement in the Port Said disaster in February 2012.

    Muslim Group Threatens Egypt’s Coptic Christians; Tells Them to ‘Pay Tribute’

    An armed Islamic movement calling itself the “Brigade of Muslims” released a statement on Saturday threatening Egypt’s Coptic Christians and asking them to pay tribute.

    “Egypt is an Islamic country and will be ruled according to Shariah,” the statement added.

    The movement threatened all Egyptian media professionals who “mock religion and Islamic rule,” adding that it has a special list of media professionals and their persistence in mocking will result in the “shedding of their blood in the ugliest way.”

    The movement explained that it has been established because of the strife being plotted against the country and the plans of enemies of Islam, both at home and abroad.

    The movement accused Copts of trying to create a “separate Coptic state,” accused the National Salvation Front of involvement in the burning of Egypt, and accused the so-called corrupt media of distorting the image of Muslims and Islamic rule.

    The movement noted its approach is jihad, and it would fight the Egyptian army and Interior Ministry if they do not stand up to “Copts and their helpers.”

    “Let the unbelievers and the hypocrites know we are as keen on dying for the sake of God as they are keen on life,” the movement confirmed.
