A viral email is doing the rounds claiming that Obama has ordered the USPS to create a special permanent stamp commemorating Muslim festivals of slaughter called, Eid (+ whatever). According to Fact Check, this was not an Obama initiative but a Bush one announced on Aug 1 2001,.
Frankly, while I find the US stamp commemorating Kwanza to be far more offensive in some ways, there is one thing that would take the sting out of the Muslim ones a little bit.
I have started a petition here to change the official spelling of ‘Eid’, to really what it should be, in order to properly convey the inner spirit of Islam. I believe that forever more the correct spelling should be, ‘Ied’.
