“AN ASIAN man who picked up a child from a moving walkway at a Morrisons store and carried her away from her family is being hunted by police.
The “distressing” incident happened at the supermarket’s branch on Railway Road in Blackburn at around 3pm on November 3.
The three-year-old girl had been walking to the car park with her mother and five-year-old sister when she was picked by the man.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, carried her a short distance before putting her down, with police saying his motives remain “unclear”.
He is described as between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in, with black hair which was short at the sides and thick on top, wearing blue jeans and a black and blue bomber jacket.
Detective Inspector Tim McDermott, from Blackburn CID, said: “This incident has understandably been very distressing for the family involved.
“The motive of the man remains unclear and so we need to speak to him urgently to understand what happened.
“I am appealing directly to this man to contact us and for anyone who thinks they may know who he is to do likewise.
“Also, if you were in the area around Morrisons at that time and saw anyone fitting the description of this man I would urge you to get in touch.”

Immigrants particularly suffered in gaining access to abortions. According to the report, abortions were generally performed in private centres with doctors often unwilling to perform the procedure in a Catholic country.

The Syrian women and children will be housed in the centre for up to two years, as part of the Australian government’s one-off humanitarian intake of 12,000 refugees from the war-torn nation.
The rally was preceded by a reportedly larger group of counter-protesters, many holding anti-fascist and pro-refugee placards, declaring Folkes’ rally did not represent them.
Earlier in the week, Eltham residents had spray-painted butterflies around the area, as a symbol of welcome to the refugees.
The founder of the Welcome to Eltham committee, Nina Kelabora, said the anti-refugee protesters were “definitely out of towners”, and did not reflect the wishes of the Eltham residents.
“We know there’s a handful of local residents who have concerns, but this is something else,” Kelabora told Guardian Australia.
“This is not anything to do with the sentiments in our community, which is a peaceful, safe and welcoming area … the overwhelming sentiment in the community is one of welcome.”
Kelabora did not attend the rally, instead spray-painting butterflies and tying butterfly symbols around the park earlier..
“We knew the protest was coming up and we knew we wanted to respond in some way but didn’t want to partake in what they were labelling as a battle,” she told Guardian Australia.
“We needed to make sure the community’s voice of welcome was heard.”
The group adopted as its symbol the Eltham Copper Butterfly, which almost disappeared in the 1980s until the residents rallied together to save it, she said.
She said the Eltham people had contributed more than 700 submissions to a welcome book, which the group planned to give to the refugees when they arrived.
“From the community perspective it’s really clear that the vast majority are welcoming.”
Up to 200 anti-refugee demonstrators descended on the town’s Andrew Park on Saturday for what Folkes had dubbed “the battle of Eltham”, with support from other organisations including the Soldiers of Odin, a self-styled “street patrol” patriot group.
Fairfax reported that about a dozen people at the rally had identified themselves as locals.
The Australia First party and United Nationalists group staged a mock beheading last week in the park as some form of protest against the plan.

“EXCLUSIVE: EVERY council in England could be forced to take in a share of asylum seekers, because of the demand being placed on existing providers, a Government contractor has claimed.
G4S, one of three COMPASS companies contracted by the Home Office to provide asylum seeker accommodation up and down the country, has revealed its employer is considering making it mandatory for councils to help resettle refugees.
Currently, it is down to a local authority if they chose to accept asylum seekers into their area, and the majority refuse to take part.
According to G4S, this means councils that do house asylum seekers are taking a disproportionate amount and the strain on their local services is immense, particularly due to the increased numbers of immigrant refugees coming in from war torn Syria.
In a letter to the Home Affairs select committee inquiry into asylum seeker accommodation, John Whitwam, managing director, of G4S immigration and borders, said his firm had been told by the Home Office it was considering making it compulsory for all councils to take part.
He said: “After many months of negotiating it has become clear that the unwillingness of local authorities to allow placement of asylum seekers in their areas is entrenched.
“In many cases compromise has become impossible.
“It is for this reason that the Home Office is considering using its powers to compel participation.”

German military investigates 60 potential Islamists in Bundeswehr
BERLIN (Reuters) – The German government plans to carry out security investigations of all military recruits beginning in July 2017 after its military counter-espionage service (MAD) identified 20 Islamists in the Bundeswehr, according to German media group Funke.
A spokesman for the agency confirmed that number, and said 60 additional potential cases were under investigation.
Draft legislation to be considered by the German parliament in coming weeks would mandate investigations of all recruits to counter efforts by the Islamic State jihadist group to infiltrate the military and obtain weapons training, Funke Mediengruppe reported.
The MAD spokesman said recruiting offices had received an undisclosed number of queries from people who wanted to join the military for only a few months and expressed a keen interest in intensive weapons and equipment training, the spokesman said.
In a statement provided to the Funke media group, the agency said it was concerned about a July 2014 Internet posting by Islamic State in which the group urged those with military training to join its ranks, and other calls for supporters to learn to shoot and to become familiar with weapons.

JAKARTA (Reuters) – From rescue helicopters to air surveillance equipment, defense manufacturers jostled in Jakarta this week to claim one of the region’s biggest prizes: a slice of Indonesia’s shopping list as the country updates its aging air and sea security capability.
While it is not part of the dispute over claims in the South China Sea, Indonesia objects to China’s claim to waters around the Natuna Islands and has been ramping up military exercises and patrols in the region.
At this year’s annual defense gathering, just weeks after the largest Indonesian exercise to date off the Natuna archipelago, corridors were jammed and industry executives reported one of their busiest years at a time of high interest across the region after a lull of over five years.
Indonesia, which faced a U.S. arms embargo until just over a decade ago, has yet to nail down a winner for the highest profile item on its wish list – a squadron of jets to replace its aging Northrop F-5 fighters, as talks continue with Russia to buy Sukhoi Su-35 jets.
Rival contenders for the deal include the Saab Gripen combat jet, the Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed Martin’s F-16s, according to industry stakeholders. Most offers include the jets and industrial cooperation.

A new guide released to teachers in Canada outlines ways that teachers can make classrooms more inclusive.
In one such proposal, it is suggested that students be referred to “comrades” instead of boys and girls. A second idea encourages drag shows so that kids can study the “performance of gender.”
The Alberta Teacher’s Association (ATA), the top union for teachers in Alberta, Canada released the 152-page document titled “Prism Toolkit for Safe and Caring Discussions.” The guide is meant to assist teachers in creating an LBGTQ-inclusive environment in the classroom.
The guide is intended to create “welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments for children and youth,” and asks teachers use gender-neutral language like “spouse” rather than husband and wife.
One activity recommended for students is titled “Drag 101.” The activity encourages students to “examine the performance of gender, specifically the exaggerated feminine aspects of dressing and acting in drag,” and compels students to invite local drag queens to come into the classroom and to organize a drag performance at the school.

Looks like Russia is upping the ante in Syria and Iraq. The next move is up to Turkey, Iran, the Kurds or ISIS. Events are building to a major crisis and probably for WWIII to go kinetic some time this winter.

Last month another school in the same province of Sharqia put in force rules to make all female students wear a hijab, with the al-Nassiriya School’s headteacher posting a large sign saying Islam dress is now part of the girls’ uniform.
And Christian seven-year-old Viola Samir told how her Islamic religious studies teacher held eight Christian pupils in her class of 35 children back.

To think that Berlin (or any other of the delightful German cities I visited) would wish for the slightest resurrection of a similar wall is beyond belief.
West Germany spent €2 trillion ($2.23 trillion USD) on the noble cause of reunification. Now, a Cold War-era, Communist, “ex-Stasi, mid-level propaganda commissar for the Free German Youth” has unilaterally decided that dropping Germany’s border controls in order to admit well-over a million willfully non-assimilating, barely literate, chronically unemployable aboriginals will best benefit that nation’s citizens and their economic future.

House of Kurds: American Involvement is Upsetting the Middle East’s Most Delicate Balance
In the treacherous landscape of the Middle East, American foreign policy has come to rely ever more on alliances with “the Kurds.” They are the pro-American ones, the Good Guys of the neighborhood, the ones who love democracy and stand firm against jihadism. In Iraq, the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) provides a stable base for American operations against the Islamic State, even hosting an expanded local CIA headquarters near its capital of Erbil. In Syria, the only ally the United States has managed to achieve any meaningful impact with is the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG. Accordingly, the U.S. has praised these groups, armed them, feted their leaders, and provided them air support going back as far as 1991.
But the U.S. should never mistake the groups that represent the Kurds of Syria and Iraq as a solid foundation on which Mideast policy can be built. Kurdish internal politics is a twisted mess that spans four countries, involves tens of millions of people, and requires the mastery of more than a dozen three-letter abbreviations to understand. The Kurds contain multitudes, and the stability that has existed in recent years is now threatened from both within and without. In the KRG, fissures between the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) are widening substantially, with the pendulum of Kurdish power threatening to tip back towards the latter. In Syria, the YPG, our allies, are trying to chart a course that preserves their autonomy, which has been allowed in the short term but ultimately contradicts the goals of Turkey, which is also our ally.
The U.S. remains hampered by one simple fact: At no point in the last two decades has the government articulated a consistent, coherent vision for the Kurdish people. The Kurds have frequently been viewed as tools, and their groups’ political objectives not taken at face value. American support has empowered Kurdish actors like never before—but without stepping back and taking the long view, without thinking too long and too hard about the consequences tomorrow of choices made today. The looming result is this: The delicate Kurdish balance that America has come to depend on could soon come crashing down like a house of cards.
