Using an Islamic nom de guerre, a women claiming to be former punk rocker Sally Jones used a popular document-sharing website to post the address and personal information of Lt. Col. T. Mark McCurley.

“A teenage girl was forced to lick the toilet bowl and eat her own faeces as punishments before being killed by members of her family, a court heard today.

Shahena Uddin, 19, allegedly received beating for incurring the anger of her older siblings.

A jury was told the punishments included being made to stand for long periods staring into a toilet bowl, being made to lick the toilet bowl or seat, and being forced to eat faeces, vomit and paper.

It was claimed today the teenager wasn’t allowed to use the lavatory at the home in Watford and on occasions she was forced to use a sink.

But last October she is said to have endured a number of beatings during the course of a night, suffering head wounds and injuries to her body.

  3. Communiqué from Rebel TV !

Justin Trudeau just won a majority government. Get ready for the pain.

He promised to raise taxes, raise spending and put our country back into debt.

He vowed to kill the Northern Gateway pipeline and to bring in new carbon taxes.

He said he’d abandon our military mission against ISIS terrorists, and take in 25,000 Syrian migrants by Christmas.

Do you doubt he’s going to do it?

His ideas will be a disaster. Government will grow. Personal freedom will shrink. Our national security will be weakened. And our foreign policy will tilt far left. Trudeau is the candidate who said he admires China for its “basic dictatorship”, and promises to normalize relations with Iran.

And who’s going to stop him?

The political left controls most provincial legislatures and the courts. Every university and NGO pushes to the left.

But the worst is the mainstream media. For nine years, they weren’t just watchdogs — they were mad dogs. I called it “Harper Derangement Syndrome”.

Well, after watching the media’s pro-Liberal bias in this campaign, do you doubt that they’re about to become Trudeau’s lapdogs?

So who will hold the Liberal government to account? Who will shine a light of public scrutiny on what Trudeau does — his fan club at the CBC?

The Sun News Network is gone. The National Post is in disarray. The Conservative Party itself will now be consumed with a divisive leadership race.

So who will be the people’s opposition?

I think a lot of that responsibility falls to us, here at The Rebel.

I promise we will keep the fires burning during the next four years. We’ll hold Trudeau to account. We’ll do a bit of everything — news reports; conservative commentary; we’ll be a conservative “think tank”; and when necessary, we’ll be activists too.

We’ve already started. As you know, we finished building our TV studio on Friday afternoon — and we used it for the first time tonight, broadcasting a live election results show for more than two hours. We had a few first-time jitters, but it was pretty good for our inaugural show. We’ll get better the next time, and even better the time after that.

So let me put it another way: the fight-back starts now.

In the next few days, when you’re talking to your friends and family, and people ask who will stand up for them and their values, point them to us, at http://www.TheRebel.media. And tell them to join our fight for Canada.

    Yours truly,

    Ezra Levant

P.S. Do you know what Kathleen Wynne has done to Ontario, and Rachel Notley is doing to Alberta? Trudeau is going to do that to Canada.

It’s terrible. But we’ve got to keep our sense of humour. Click here to buy our new T-shirts and bumper stickers that say, “Don’t blame me, I voted Conservative”!

  4. Syria conflict: Russian air strikes ‘kill 45 in Latakia’ (BBC, Oct 20, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-34580188

“At least 45 people have been killed in Russian air strikes on a rebel-held area of north-western Syria, a monitoring group says.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Russian warplanes bombed the rugged Jabal al-Akrad region of Latakia province on Monday afternoon.

The commander of a Western-backed Free Syrian Army brigade and the families of rebels were among the dead, it added.

Russia said it had targeted Islamic State militants in Latakia on Monday.

However, activists say the jihadist group has little or no presence in the coastal province, which is a stronghold of President Bashar al-Assad’s Alawite sect.

Moderate and Islamist rebel groups took control of Jabal al-Akrad in 2012.

From positions in the mountainous region, they have been able to shell the city of Latakia’s airport and Qardaha, the president’s ancestral village…”

“Iran rejected criticism from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday about Tehran’s interventions in unstable countries in the Middle East, and accused the kingdom in turn of playing a destabilizing role in the volatile region.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham was responding to comments by Riyadh’s foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir, who on Monday said Iran’s military role in Syria disqualified it from playing a role in peacemaking efforts there.

“The Saudi foreign minister, whose country has taken a military-led approach and fostered extremism in regional conflicts … is not qualified to talk about Iran’s role in the region,” Afkham was quoted as saying by state news agency IRNA.

Separately, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Saudi authorities had not taken responsibility for last month’s haj disaster, in which Tehran says 465 Iranian pilgrims died….”

“Warplanes carried out air strikes on the Libyan city of Sirte targeting areas controlled by fighters loyal to Islamic State militants, a witness in the city said on Tuesday.

There was no immediate report of casualties or damage from the strikes on Monday. Forces from Libya’s internationally recognized government have bombed Islamist militants in the past. But an official was not immediately available to comment on the Sirte attack.

Islamic State has made Sirte its base in Libya, where fighting between two rival governments and their armed allies has allowed Islamist militants to gain ground in the chaos.”

    http://news.yahoo.com/german-intelligence-closely-monitoring-anti-islam-movements-101227511.html

PEGIDA, or Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West, almost fizzled out earlier this year when its leader resigned after a photo was published of him posing as Hitler.

But it has swelled again as Germany implements Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decision to accept a tide of refugees that could exceed a million this year, as she argues that Germany can not only cope but, with its aging population, will benefit in the long term.

Police declined to estimate the number of protesters but media put it at 15-20,000, somewhat below a peak of around 25,000 in January. Around 14,000 counter-demonstrators urged people to welcome refugees rather than whip up opposition.

  9. German MPs ‘drawing up plans’ to close borders in challenge to Merkel’s refugee policy
Group of 188 MPs including many from chancellor’s own party have reportedly prepared laws to fence off sections of Germany’s border

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/11941466/German-MPs-drawing-up-plans-to-close-borders-in-challenge-to-Merkels-refugee-policy.html

German MPs have reportedly drawn up plans to close the country’s borders in a direct challenge to Angela Merkel’s refugee policy.

The move is the latest threat to the Schengen Agreement on border-free travel in continental Europe.

A group of 188 MPs including many from Mrs Merkel’s own Christian Democrat party have prepared laws to fence off sections of the border.

They say they will put them forward if Mrs Merkel does not come up with a solution to the refugee crisis within weeks.

  10. Germany warns of growing right-wing radicalism amid refugee crisis

    http://www.oann.com/germany-warns-of-growing-right-wing-radicalism-amid-refugee-crisis/

BERLIN (Reuters) – Cabinet ministers warned on Tuesday that right-wing radicalism and xenophobia are on the rise in Germany after the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement held its biggest rally in months, spurred on by the arrival of hundreds of thousands of migrants.

Emboldened by popular fears about the refugee crisis, some 15-20,000 people joined the Monday evening rally in Dresden by Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West (PEGIDA). Many waved German flags and chanted “Out! Out!”

The leader of the Social Democrats (SPD), who share power with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives, told the Sueddeutsche daily that PEGIDA was a “right-wing populist and in part openly radical right-wing movement”.

It was, said Sigmar Gabriel, an extension of the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which has gained support in opinion polls, and the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD), with a more brutal vocabulary.

  11. Russia calls Estonian/NATO air base plan destabilizing ‘provocation’

    http://www.oann.com/russia-calls-estoniannato-air-base-plan-destabilizing-provocation/

MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Russian foreign ministry on Tuesday called plans by Estonia to expand its Amari air base to make more room for NATO aircraft a provocation.

The ministry said it was reacting to a statement from the Estonian airforce that it intended to expand Amari, where NATO bases some of its planes that patrol the Baltic to ensure Russian military planes steer clear of the area.

“In the light of constant speculation about the need for the military alliance (NATO) and in particular the United States to deploy extra military forces on its ‘eastern flank’ we view these preparations as an openly provocative step aimed at destabilizing the situation,” the ministry said in a statement.

  12. Cattle rustling U.S.A., where ‘Rawhide’ meets ‘Breaking Bad’

    http://www.oann.com/cattle-rustling-u-s-a-where-rawhide-meets-breaking-bad/

SEMINOLE, Okla. (Reuters) – Cattle rustling, a crime associated with the Wild West, is on the rebound in the heart of the U.S. cattle industry, driven largely by ranch hands stealing livestock to get money to feed their drug habits.

The crime has evolved from rustlers on horseback driving their plunder across the range, often portrayed in the early 1960s U.S. TV program “Rawhide,” to modern-day cowboys using pickup trucks and trailers to make off with cattle.

The recent rise in rustling is driven by the spread of heroin and methamphetamines to rural areas, an issue that has dogged states across the nation. In Oklahoma and neighboring Texas, lonesome cattle grazing on thousand-acre ranches that can fetch about $1,000 to $3,000 at market are proving to be easy targets for rustlers on the down and out.

Among Oklahoma cattle thieves, about 75 percent are doing so to feed addictions, most often to meth amphetamines, according to Jerry Flowers, a retired Oklahoma City police detective and the state’s top “cattle cop.”

“Some city meth head is going to be kicking your door in and taking your TV. An outlaw here in the country is going to be cutting your fence and taking your cattle,” said Flowers.

    • Dear J-
Thank-you making this information accessible to us, inspiring us with news from Eastern Europe.

Mr. Orban is one of the very few who can’t be silenced by bribes or threats. A breath of fresh air, he says what he means and does what he can. There must be more like him. Sanity, alive and well on the otherwise wretched continent!

Especially welcome today, reckoning with the electoral defeat of Mr. Harper in Canada, a tough blow to the people on Our Side, The Good Guys.

It’s too soppy to keep repeating, so it’ll have to go without saying: Thanks for opening the window, watching out for stuff we care about, and bringing it home to your kafir brethren.

  14. ISIS camp in Istanbul trained children as terrorists (RT, Oct 20, 2015)
    https://www.rt.com/news/319160-istanbul-terrorist-camp-children/

“Turkish police have detained dozens of ISIS-connected suspects, among them 24 under the age of 18, who are being trained to operate in Syria and Iraq as Islamic State’s militants.
The Istanbul Anti-Terror Directorate has arrested dozens of foreigners in one of the districts of Turkey’s largest city. Those detained are suspected of getting ready to transfer to areas of Syria in Iraq under Islamic State’s control, the Turkish daily Vatan reports.

Detectives targeted some 18 homes in Istanbul’s eastern Pendik district. Special operations teams supported by a helicopter simultaneously raided all the suspicious addresses.

The raids were part of the investigation into the massive terror attack that killed over 100 people in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on October 10.

Altogether 53 people have been detained, including 24 minors, all of them from the Central Asian countries of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The minors were brought to the Pendik Children’s Bureau Headquarters, while most of the rest were summoned to the Anti-Terror Directorate headquarters for questioning. Many of those detained had entered Turkey illegally, authorities said.

The anti-terror teams say they have proof that the detained Tajiks and Uzbeks have connections to Islamic State (former ISIS/ISIL), finding maps of conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, as well as other documents, in their raids.

Turkish authorities believe that the suspects organized training for the 24 minors in the basements of the raided installations. The children were taught radical Islam, extremist ideology and rules for living in Islamic State-controlled areas.

Thousands of foreigners have joined Islamic State, which is currently estimated to have from 30,000 to as many as 200,000 fighters in its ranks. Up to 5,000 of them are believed to be Uzbek nationals, Vatan reports.

In August, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), a terrorist organization founded in 1996, officially announced its voluntary dissolution and swore allegiance to Islamic State. Before that, it had been affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

Islamic State has never concealed the fact it uses children in its operations, organizing training camps for them, where they are trained to become jihadi fighters and even behead people…:”

  15. Ukraine Rebels Give Rise To A ‘New Cult Of Stalin’

    http://www.rightsidenews.com/editorial/us-opinion-and-editorial/ukraine-rebels-give-rise-to-a-new-cult-of-stalin/

History is repeating itself in all its murderous glory in Russia. While the world swoons over Vladimir Putin taking charge in Syria and offing a bunch of blood-thirsty Islamists who are in his way and serve as bloody propaganda for his next moves into the Baltics, the Middle East and Europe, Putin is getting the old band back together a la the Soviet Union. He is using nationalism to stoke the hatred of America… blaming all of Russia’s ills on the US. You see this play out in Donetsk, Ukraine, where three giant portraits of the former Soviet dictator, Joseph Stalin, are proudly displayed in the center of the city. It is the rebel capitol of eastern Ukraine and separatists are fueling Soviet nostalgia there.

The young have no clue what a monster Stalin really was. They seem proud of the portraits and feel that they engender Russian pride. “I think the portraits of Stalin are a good thing. It’s our history and a lot of people have forgotten he even existed,” said Yekaterina, a 22-year-old student. Did you also forget the atrocities that Uncle Joe committed? Soviet customs are being revived to cement the rebels’ Moscow-backed rule.

  16. International Supervision of Jerusalem’s Holy Sites Has a Dark History of Failure

    http://www.rightsidenews.com/world/israel/international-supervision-of-jerusalems-holy-sites-has-a-dark-history-of-failure/

On October 16, 2015, the French Ambassador to the United Nations tabled a draft text before the UN Security Council calling for international observers on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. A source told Le Figaro, “This will put in place independent observers able to identify possible violations of the status quo.”1
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu strongly rejected the French diplomatic foray. “There is no mention [in the French draft] of Palestinian incitement and Palestinian terrorism, and it calls for the internationalization of the Temple Mount.” Netanyahu said on October 18, 2015. “We’ve already seen what happens in holy sites in the Middle East when extreme Muslims destroy each other’s mosques, Christian sites, heritage sites, Jewish sites,” the Israeli leader said.2
Just this week, Jews were horrified to see the Palestinian destruction of the venerated Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem/Nablus.
International Observers Failed for 19 Years

But the absolute failure of United Nations international supervisors tasked with overseeing Jerusalem’s Jewish holy sites between 1949 and 1967 is a flashing red light warning of France’s initiative.

The UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) was officially established by UN Security Council Resolution 50 on May 29, 1948 for peacekeeping in the Middle East. On August 11, 1949, UN Resolution 73 mandated that UNTSO was responsible for “observing and maintaining the cease-fires and Armistices” after the Palestine Conflict. [Emphasis added.]

One of those Armistice Agreements, between Jordan and Israel and signed on April 3, 1949,3 called for the “resumption of the normal functioning of the cultural and humanitarian institutions on Mount Scopus and free access thereto; free access to the Holy Places and cultural institutions and use of the cemetery on the Mount of Olives…” [Emphasis added.]

UNTSO utterly failed in its mandate to maintain the Armistice for 19 years.4 Specifically:

The cultural and humanitarian institutions on Mt. Scopus – Hebrew University and Hadassah Hospital – were shut.

  17. The Secret Awfulness of Saudi Arabia

    http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/6722/saudi-awfulness

Ali Mohammed Al-Nimr, arrested in Saudi Arabia at the age of seventeen, has been sentenced to beheading and crucifixion.

Last week, two Saudi human rights activists were sentenced to jail for illegally establishing a human rights organization, questioning the credibility and objectivity of the judiciary, interfering with the Saudi Human Rights Commission (one can imagine what that is like), and describing Saudi Arabia as a police state.

Karl Andree, a 74-year-old British grandfather and a UK citizen who has been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for the last year, is due to receive 350 lashes for unpardonable crime of being caught with some homemade wine.

British Justice Minister Michael Gove has now reportedly insisted that the UK could not possibly enter into a contract to train Saudi prison guards.

The naïve Western leaders are those who expect our countries to carry on with “business as usual” with a regime that sentences our citizens to flogging, and that beheads and crucifies political dissidents.

The naïve politicians are those who think the publics of the West do not know what a human rights sewer Saudi Arabia is, or think that we will put up with it. If that were ever the case, that time is over.

Is international opinion on Saudi Arabia finally shifting? For years, one of the great embarrassments and contradictions of Western diplomacy has been the intimacy of the West’s relationship with the House of Saud. Of course, both Britain and America have some responsibility for installing and then maintaining the Saudi royal family in their position. Were it not for this circumstance, in addition to the world’s largest oil reserves, the people we now call the Saudi royal family would be neither richer nor any more famous than any other group of goat-herders in the region.

  18. Christians Persecuted by Muslims Even in the West
“Here we pray only to Allah”

“Convert or Die” — Graffiti on a restaurant, Gothenburg, Sweden.

“Very religious Muslims are spreading the following idea throughout the refugee centers: Sharia law rules wherever we are.” – Gottfried Martens, pastor of a south Berlin church.

“You have a cross on — then you are also a Christian f***ing whore. Do you know what we do to people like you? … You get stoned [to death].” — Muslim threats against Christians in Denmark, documented by TV2.

A British Christian family that was attacked says both police and the Anglican Church have failed to provide any meaningful support and are “reluctant to treat the problem as a religious hate crime.”

Christian residents of Europe continue to be persecuted, often by Muslims allowed into Europe on the grounds that they are being “persecuted.”

As Muslims grow in numbers, so do their demands — assimilation in Europe is falling by the wayside.

“Before we put on a show of unity with Muslims, let’s have them begin by respecting our civilization and our culture.” — Giuseppe Berlin, Municipal Councillor of Cinisello Balsamo, Italy.

Last April, police in Sicily reported that Muslim migrants hurled as many as 53 Christians overboard during a recent boat crossing from Libya. The motive was that the victims “professed the Christian faith while the aggressors were Muslim.” Another report cited a boy seen praying to the Judeo-Christian God. Muslims commanded him to stop, saying “Here, we pray only to Allah.” Eventually the Muslims “went mad,” in the words of a witness, started screaming “Allahu Akbar!” [“Allah is Greater!”] and began hurling Christians into the sea.

Even when Christian refugees make it to the West, they often continue to be persecuted by Muslims, their fellow “refugees.”

  19. Controversial Dutch MP Geert Wilders in Perth to launch anti-Islam party

Controversial Dutch MP Geert Wilders was expected to launch the anti-Islam Australian Liberty Alliance (ALA) political party in Perth at a secret location today.

Mr Wilders, who flew into Perth on the weekend after being granted a visa, was to be the keynote speaker at the launch.

Media outlets were not invited to the event, but were told party representatives would hold a press conference on Wednesday.

Mr Wilders tweeted that he had enjoyed “a wonderful boat trip” on Perth Swan River on Monday night, and that it was “great to be back in Australia”.

The party, inspired by that of Mr Wilders in the Netherlands, wants to ban full-face coverings in public spaces and calls for a 10-year moratorium on resident visa applications by people from Islamic countries.

Mr Wilders previously labelled Islam “retarded”, called the Prophet Mohammed a paedophile and compared the Koran to Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

ALA director Andrew Horwood defended the level of secrecy surrounding the launch.

“Mr Geert Wilders has lived under 24-hour police protection for the past 10 years. He had an assassination attempt in Texas earlier this year,” he told 720 ABC Perth.

“He is critical of the religion of Islam, as many others are around the world, and because of that he had a death sentence on his head and he’s just been under police guard for 10 years.

“We have to keep this man secure.”

Islam doesn’t fit with Australian values: ALA

Mr Horwood said his party’s values resonated with Australians.

“Our key concerns would be the lack of respect we have for other individuals in society, our education standards, the debt that we’re leaving our children and we’re highly concerned about the religion of Islam,” he said.

“Islam in its current form doesn’t fit with Australian values and if we want to retain the gift of living in the greatest country in the world and passing it onto the next generation, we need to be able to have these honest and frank discussions.

“We’re very happy for people to come to this country … but we want people who are going to integrate and we want people who are going to respect our laws and our values, that’s all we ask.”

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett said earlier this month he would not allow any State Government facility to be used for the party’s launch.

It was a repeat of the ban Mr Barnett implemented when Mr Wilders visited Australia in 2013.

At the time Mr Wilders was booked to speak at a Perth hotel but the venue cancelled days before the speech.

ALA national president Debbie Robinson said a five-star hotel had cancelled a booking for today’s launch when it realised Mr Wilders would be involved.

The Australian Hotels Association warned its members to carefully consider whether they wanted to allow bookings from Mr Wilders.

It is understood the launch will be held at a private venue.

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/20/black-lives-matter-forces-l-a-mayor-garcetti-to-flee-town-hall/

Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti was forced to cut short a town hall meeting with the black community on Monday evening after it was disrupted by Black Lives Matter protestors.

The meeting, at the Holman United Methodist Church, was attended by several hundred people, but several dozen activists interrupted repeatedly and forced Garcetti to flee. The LAPD had to disperse the crowd before he could depart, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The organizers of the forum urged the protestors to have a “civil conversation.” Instead, they chanted “”Black lives, they matter here!” and forced Garcetti to leave under police guard. NBC Los Angeles recounted: “Garcetti initially came to answer questions from citizens regarding economic opportunity and community safety before protestors began chanting. But the event quickly turned to chaos as Black Lives Matter protesters rushed the podium.”

  22. BBC – France: Marine Le Pen goes on trial over Muslim remarks

French National Front leader Marine Le Pen has appeared in court in Lyon, to answer charges of inciting racial hatred, for comparing Muslims praying in the street to the Nazi occupation.

[…]The case was originally dropped last year by the Lyon court of appeal but revived by anti-racism groups who made a civil complaint.

[…]She is accused of incitement to discrimination, violence or hatred towards a group of people because of their religious affiliation and if found guilty could face up to a year in jail and a fine of €45,000 (£33,000; $51,000).

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has expressed his willingness to meet with the Palestinian leadership and resume peace talks immediately without preconditions, in order to bring calm to the region. The Palestinian leadership’s response was to have Jordan act as their promoter-in-chief and call on the Security Council to hold the “emergency” meeting for the purpose essentially of condemning Israel and rationalizing the Palestinian violence spree.

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, knew what to expect. Before the Security Council meeting commenced, Ambassador Danon told reporters that “we don’t need another general meeting about the situation in the Middle East. What we do need is for this council to convene a meeting on the dangerous incitement led by President Abbas.” The ambassador lamented that “Israelis are being stabbed, Bombed, Run-over and stoned, yet this council remains silent.”

In his briefing to the Security Council, Mr. Tayé-Brook Zerihoun, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, did at least condemn the attack on Joseph’s Tomb. But then he tried to explain away the wave of Palestinian violence in general as stemming from the “persistence of the occupation and the diminishing prospects of achieving Palestinian aspirations for statehood.” He also threw in the “continued and expanding settlement activities” as contributing “to the anger and frustration driving the violence we are seeing today.” Finally, he added the widespread unfounded fears in the Muslim world that “Israel is aiming to change the status quo at the holy sites.”

  24. Palestinian Muslims Eagerly Kneel to Smell Dead Terrorist’s Blood
Not only do you get 72 virgins, but great-smelling blood.

The “Palestinian” experiment answers the question; what if you tried to turn an entire society into Hannibal Lecter. I defy any criminologist to tell the difference between a psychotic serial killer and a society where…

    1. Postcards featuring the dead body parts of terror victims were sold

    2. Exhibits recreate scenes of terrorist mass murders complete with blood and body parts

    3. Crowds swarm to grab pieces of body parts of their victims and then show them off. (GRAPHIC)

    4. Islamic clerics give very specific instructions on mutilating their Jewish victims

“Oh men of the West Bank, next time, attack in a group of three, four, or five. Attack them in groups. Cut them into body parts,” the preacher said.

During parts of the sermon, the religious leader wildly flailed his knife, screaming angrily at the top of his lungs.

“Form stabbing squads. We don’t want just a single stabber. Oh young men of the West Bank: Attack in threes and fours. Some should restrain the victim, while others attack him with axes and butcher knives,” the preacher instructed.

    Nothing serial killer about that…

    …. and now

    5. Blood sniffing. Yes, blood sniffing. Because prior to this you could still somehow tell the difference between Hannibal Lecter and “Palestine.

An article in the official PA daily described a dead terrorist’s blood in romantic and poetic terms, presenting it as something Palestinians cherish. According to the PA daily:

“[Palestinians] insisted on inhaling the scent of the Martyr’s blood… The residents of Jerusalem, who waited to inhale the scent of the blood which was still on the ground and in the water which turned slightly red from it.”

“A Saudi activist has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and banned from travel abroad for another decade, a human rights lawyer said Tuesday.

Abdel-Karim al-Khadar, a professor of Islamic Studies from the conservative province of Qassim, has been under arrest since April 2013. He was considered among the most vocal critics of religious extremism and militancy. He had posted videos online giving religious lectures in support of greater women’s rights and co-existence.

The Saudi rights lawyer, who spoke anonymously for fear of reprisal, told The Associated Press that al-Khadar was sentenced Monday by Saudi Arabia’s Specialized Criminal Court. He was convicted on charges of disobeying the ruler, founding a human rights organization, supporting protests, violating Internet laws through his posts and accusing Saudi authorities of human rights abuses.

He is the third rights activist to be sentenced to prison in the past week, and was a founding member of the Saudi Association for Civil and Political Rights, known by its Arabic acronym HASEM.

Many of HASEM’s members are already in prison. Seven of the group’s founders are in jail serving prison sentences and two are in jail facing trial. Two others are on trial, but not jailed.”

“Taliban forces advanced on the capital of the volatile southern Afghan province of Helmand on Tuesday amid fierce fighting with government forces that threatened to cut off a major highway and prompted many families to flee.

The fighting near the town of Lashkar Gah comes three weeks after the Taliban won its biggest victory in the 14-year war, capturing the northern town of Kunduz and holding the city center for three days before government forces regained control.

“Helmand’s capital appears to be under serious military pressure,” a Western official said. “We’re hearing reports about civilians fleeing in large numbers.”

Helmand province is one of the world’s biggest centers of opium cultivation, with a complex mix of warring tribal groups and Taliban insurgents creating a chronic problem for the Western-backed government.

Provincial Governor Mirza Khan Rahimi said heavy fighting had been going on for two days in the district of Gereshk to the north of the city. The fighting has threatened Highway One, the main transport artery linking the major southern city of Kandahar with Herat…”

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/10/20/us-mideast-crisis-syria-latakia-idUSKCN0SE0M420151020

“Russian air strikes in Syria’s Latakia province killed a rebel commander and four other fighters from a group armed by President Bashar al-Assad’s foreign enemies, a spokesman for the group said on Tuesday.

The attack on Monday evening marked the third time Russian war planes have targeted the First Coastal Division group since Moscow began its air strikes in support of President Bashar al-Assad on Sept. 30, the group’s spokesman Fadi Ahmad said.

He said a further 15 civilians had been killed in the air strike in Jabal Akrad, a rural, mountainous area in the province. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights earlier put the death toll at 45 rebels and civilians.

The First Coastal Division is one of several groups that have received foreign military support including U.S.-made anti-tank missiles, the most potent weapon in the rebels’ arsenal.

The group, which fights under the umbrella of the “Free Syrian Army”, confirmed the death of its chief of staff, Basil Zamo, formerly a captain in the Syrian military.

Ahmad said a fighter trained in the use of the anti-tank TOW missiles had also been killed. The Russian jets had struck one of the group’s headquarters, and then struck the same target again after rescue workers had arrived on the scene.”

  29. NYT Slovenia Deploys Troops to Border as Migrant Exodus Swells

Led by riot police on horseback, thousands of weary migrants marched across western Balkans borderlands as far as the eye could see Tuesday as authorities cautiously lowered barriers and intensified efforts to cope with a human tide unseen in Europe since World War II.

[…]On Slovenia’s frontiers with Croatia and Austria, aid workers toiled to erect enough tents and other emergency accommodation to shelter up to 14,000 travelers, more than five times the tiny nation’s previous official limit.

Tensions flared on Slovenia’s border with Austria as police in both countries struggled to keep migrants walking in orderly queues to buses bound for Austrian refugee centers. At one point, a few hundred people being confined by Slovene police broke free and ran across the border — seeking to get in front of others waiting hours for buses. Slovene officers’ bursts of pepper spray failed to stop them, but Austrian police erected physical barriers that blocked the interlopers’ path to buses. They eventually were persuaded to walk back to the end of the line.

The trekkers’ primary goal is to reach Germany or Scandinavian nations

[…]The Netherlands, another common destination for asylum seekers, unveiled a new letter of caution for those seeking a Dutch refuge. The letter, to be provided to all new arrivals, warned they would face lengthy legal delays and spend a year or more living in “an austere reception, such as in sports centers or tents, where many people share the same lodgings” while their asylum applications are considered.
